What have I just read!? My heart was shattered into a million pieces just a few pages into this book. When your crying that soon into a book you know it's bad :O But I fell in love with each and every one of the characters in the book. What Liz went through shattered me. But i felt such a connection to her kid haven went through the same. What an amazing emotional packed book this is. The only thing I can say bad is...... I want MORE! Give me more from Liz, Ben and there crazy life together :)

I love a fresh perspective in a romance novel. And I especially love a story that touches me personally. So, for anyone who has had to experience grief, and maybe has not resolved all of it---this is the book for you. How do you go on with your life--your job, your children, your chores--when the one you've counted on is gone? And that is this book--Elizabeth has to keep on plugging from Chapter One. And everything else that happens is so real! Highly recommend this book.

I was hooked before I even finished the prologue. This is a story of death, heartbreak, finding love again, and accepting that love. Ben sure is one heck of a man! So was Grady. I fell in love with them both and felt Liz's pain along with her.
I feel like every widow should read this story. I'm not a widow, but my dad died when I was only 7. This helped me better understand my mom.
Thank you for that.

This was a beautifully written, we'll developed story about love, loss, encouragement, and redefinement. All the feels went into this story surrounding life-changing moments, tears, laugher, and endearments.
I loved this book. Highly, highly recommended... with lots of tissues for tears of sadness and laughter.

Wow!!! This story was so impactful to my own life. It has really brought some clarity and peace to a difficult situation.
Anyone that has lost someone they love will take something meaningful away from this story. Grief and love go hand in hand. One of my favorite sayings sums up this reading experience.

This book really had me feeling so much right from the start. I spend most of my free time reading (what little free time I have). I could not, would not put this book down until I reached the end. Ben is the ultimate book friend-boyfriend-husband. His patience with Liz and her grief was so endearing. Liz's healing took time and she tried to make the right decisions and stay true to her love for Grady. Her struggles with raising 4 young children wasn't sugar coated. You won't regret this read.

WOW. I knew going into this book, based solely on the reviews, that it was going to be powerful and moving. But, Rachel Higginson has a way of breaking up the tense story with moments of wittiness and sarcasm. My favorite kinds of books are the ones that make you laugh AND cry - and this one gave me that and so much more.
The heartbreak (and tears) started immediately and didn't let up throughout the book. I felt the 5 stages of grief with Liz as if I was going through them alongside her. I felt proud of Liz, as well as a sigh of relief for me, for her accomplishment graduating from each stage. This story gave me promise for the future.

Holy cow! I had already read the prologue and cried my eyes out. I thought that it would be the most EMOTIONAL part of the book. Boy was I wrong. I felt Liz's struggle and every emotion she was going through. And Ben, WOW! What a gentle, sensitive, patient man! His understanding and willingness to allow Liz to process her feelings was beyond sexy, and his interactions with the kids were believable and touching. In Liz's interactions with Trevor and Katherine, her anguish was palpable.
My advice is - buy this book. You won't regret it!

This book.. OMG! There are not words! I cried from the second page to almost the last page. It is a very moving book about love, death, family and finding love again. After reading the preview I almost did not buy this book(cried while waiting in the Drs office). I am so glad that I did. The only problem I had was the ending seemed rushed. Other than that I loved this book!

Ben was beautiful and strong and amazing. Liz was a heartbroken mess. Going through the five stages of grief in single file was a bit misleading....those stages are usually like waves, flowing and crashing around and through each other...this was a very difficult book to read but good...I'm not sure it was very realistic..but still a story with great characters and a very human tale .

I just finished and reading the end gave me chills. This was heart wrenching, heart breaking and worth it. I cried, I smiled but most of all I admired Liz and kinda fell in love with Ben. The journey of Liz, through grief and into love was so real. I felt her feelings, felt what she was thinking. The writing was incredible, real. And tonight I will remember to tell my husband I love him.

This was a very sweet, and touching story...although coming from a very sad premise. I really liked Liz and the side characters (sister) and her kids! This was a nice read of how a young mother was able to find the love of her life, twice, and even though Ben was too humanly perfect, I still loved him

When you can't even get through the prologue without a box of tissues, prepare yourself. I started reading it while my husband was watching Monday-night football & he looked over and saw me sobbing. Completely gut wrenching, but completely honest. I read it until 1am then right got up at 6am to finish. What a great read, thank you!

5 beautiful heart breaking stars. Grab the tissues and get ready to read a story that you feel your best friend is telling you. You will be hurting and crying one moment and then just laughing the next. Characters that are well written and the kids, they are just perfect! Wow. One of the best books I have read this year and is on my top ten list of all time favorites!

I've personally never experienced the type of grief that Liz Carlson does in The Five Stages of Falling in Love, but without a doubt, Rachel Higginson nailed it. This story felt authentic. It's exactly how I would imagine it to be to lose your spouse and experience each of the stages of grief, only to find hope in a new love. Congrats to the author on a beautifully written story!

One of my favorite books...ever. Rachel Higginson has created a beautiful and tragic and emotional story that tackles some hard issues of loss and devastation but shows us that life can begin again. Even when we think there is no chance for happiness. I have never had to put a book down to collect my emotions but this one did it. In the very best way. Phenomenal story!

I thought this was a good book, but difficult subject matter to read about. I was in tears a couple of times, but towards the end of the book I was ready for her to let go and give him a chance. He was definitely a saint for putting up with her through everything. I wished for more of an epilogue as well....

This book was FABULOUS!
This isn't really a review so much as it is a rave about this wonderful book!
It's very interesting how I always really connect with books that involve grieving, but it settles me knowing that someone else out there has felt what I have. You can read a brief blurb on what the book is about, but you really just have to go read it!

OMGosh...This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I thought this was an honest realistic portrayal of someone who loses the love of her life and realizes that she has to move on without him. This book was a masterpiece. I was worn out emotionally in the best possible way by the end.

Read this book at a friend recommendation and since my story is very much like it, it brought back a lot of the feeling s but over all a sense of gratitude for what I have now with "My Ben".
This book will have your emotions everywhere will grip you and it won't let you go. Is a great story and superb writing.

I mean... Wow!! This book was just awesome!! By 8% in I was crying and I'm so not a cryer. Usually that would have made me mad. I read to escape not to feel depressed. But this was nothing like that. This book tells the tale of one of my biggest fears and that's losing my husband. It's just such a wonderful book!

A real story, about real life, and real people. As sad as a situation can be, it's nice to know that there can be a continuing after the death of a loved one. This was a great story that talked about all the REAL stages of grief. New favorite!!!

I highly recommend this book to everyone! Make sure u have plenty of tissues on hand though.
I cried through most of this book. I loved how it showed us who Grady was as a person. Also loved how it showed us into the future. This book would be great as a series also! Great job on ur debut book!

This book is so meaningful to me. I just recently lost someone who means the world to me and this book struck a major chord. This story is heartbreaking, life-affirming, charming, devastating and truly realistic. I don't have enough words to express how much this book means to me.

I have never cried so hard throughout a book before. This book became a favorite of mine today. I've read other books from this author before but never a tear jerker like this one. Absolutely loved the "love after immense loss" theme. These two characters are two of my favorites along with Avalon and Eden from "Star-crossed series".

Really heavy subject matter, but was written in an honest way that made it easier. A glimpse in the life of a widow. It took me a little bit to actually get into the story, but overall I enjoyed it.

5 stages... it was beautiful. It was ugly. It was beautiful. It was horrid. It was pleasure. It was pain. But it was life, love, loss. I don't know how to do this justice but to say this was perfection to me.

This was a beautiful story filled with so much love and heartache that it broke my heart to read it. Loss is never easy, but neither is falling in love when your heart is still broken.
