Another wonderful installment in the Expanse series. For me, I think it's one of the best. Wonderful characters both new and old... the Laconians come onto the scene... great writing and an interesting plot course to the conclusion -- and maybe an increased understanding of the protomolecule? Terrific series... I can't wait for the next books and the new season on the SYFY channel.

I readily admit a bias here toward "hard" SF. That said this series and this installment are as suspenseful and dramatic as any I have read in a very long time. Aside from the advanced-alien tech that seems magic the story hangs together nicely and the characters are well drawn. Highly recommended.

A complete departure from the magic that made the series work. Maybe they will get better as the new plotlines are fleshed out, but for now I'm pretty convinced that the authors have Orson Scott Carded us.

Really impressive. Each book the story continues and get bigger. The crew dynamics this time were enthralling, and the new bad guys were compelling. This is a master-class in storytelling and world building. Well done.

This episode takes us further with the crew of the Rocinante as they face their greatest challenge since the protomolecule was discovered.

Humanity has not learned its lessons and has begun playing in the fields of the gifs and their abandoned tools. A solid read and primer for what is sure to be the beginning of the end of the series-

After looking forward to this book for a year, then realizing the radical shift it represents, I prepared myself for disappointment. Needlessly, I now realize. The authors do not know how to disappoint, I am now convinced. Now it's another long wait....

Big expectation, huge disappointment. From the exciting space opera of the first books, it has moved into a mainly psychological novel with dead ends, boring actions etc... Even if I can accept that things will be clearer in future episodes, this is supposed to be a self contained one but it fails to dig deeper in the most intriguing content (the alien presence ).

Living on Ilus, Freehold, Auberon, or even a void city or generation ship would make me so happy. Thank you to the team of James S. A. Corey for keeping us all up to speed on what Holden and fam are up to!

I enjoyed Persepolis Rising more than the last novel, perhaps the last two. The action is good and the plot develops quickly. One "drawback" was at the end, as it is a coffee get. However this also promises that there will be at least one more novel forthcoming.

I have really enjoyed this series, and this addition did not disappoint me in any way. Familiar characters have new depths, minor characters have moved into focus, and the probable options have grown exponentially. I hope it isn't a long wait for the next volume.

This series became my favorite sci-fy series immediately after I began reading it. What shocks me is seven books in it still feels fresh. It still feels purposeful and driven. It still resonates with humanity the ironic way that only non-fiction can.

This was definitely not a run-of-the-mill Expanse book. Starting with the fact that it jumps 30 years into the future (that's not a spoiler, it's literally in the first few sentences) prepare yourself for big changes going into this book. Also prepare yourself for this being the first installment in a new phase of the series rather than a self-contained episode.

More reverberations from the protomolecule discovery. A new conqueror appears. All of the old cast is here, with premonitions of a gotterdamerung in the next book. There will be a next book, and, if the author’s statements on fate are true, major changes will occur. (As if they already haven’t)

By now, the characters have become like old friends. And like the best of old friends, they never fail to entertain and sometimes even surprise. I already am looking forward to their further adventures.

I really liked how political and social aspects are displayed on the book, also there were quite a few unexpected turns in the history. Last but not least, it ended up with a kind of cliffhanger, I can hardly wait to see, how it continues.

Before reading this I thought the series had run its course. But this is a jump start to the series and I can see it having five more books. Slightly different style of ending that will keep me buying the sequels.

Forget children’s books like Star Wars and StarTrek. The Expanse is real space, real science, real possibilities. A fiction of science. It leaves you with an appetite of wonder. Persepolis Rising is another tasty morsel in a grand degustation of delicious story telling. Huzzah!

The believable and fascinating space craft, alien technology, adventure, and suspense are gravy added to the fantastic cast of characters and the author’s excellent insight into humanity. Our strengths as well as our weaknesses.

I have been reading random sci if between the last expanse book and this one and I had forgotten what a joy it is to read something this good. I cant even go back to the other 2books I was reading cause reading this book exposes the others for what they lack. Reading about Holden and crew is like finding old friends again.

I first thought, "how can the writers make something new and interesting?" I shouldn't have doubted them. The story builds on earlier books, develops some of the crew and other supporting characters more, introduces new characters and ideas, then ends in a really provocative way. Looking forward to the next part.

The whole series sorta gets thrown into whack here. For the previous 6 books we sorta had this track that the series was on. Earth and Mars and the belt. This book changes everything up. And in a good way too. But at the same time you really feel for the lost that the characters are suffering.
