It was pretty good. Predictable, light read. I liked the chemistry between the two main characters, James and Emry. You could feel that attraction and tension building between them as their relationship progressed. The book was well written which is always appreciated. I plan to read the entire series.

Intertwine is a fresh take on an historical, time travel romance. It is not the traditional cat and mouse chase found in most books of this genre, but a love story with a sense of humor. Ms. Van deftly describes her characters physically as well as emotionally which surprisingly few authors take the time to do. If an author can't really get into her characters, how can the reader?
The characters in this story are intelligent, confident people with emotional depth, senses of humor and self respect (no alpha male caveman hero, or beautiful but simpering, filled with self doubt, idiotic heroine). Surely a welcome change.
The historical elements are well done with emphasis more on daily life than politics and religion. Clothing is described in rich detail as well as food and the homes of the elite Regency England aristocrats. The author contrasts the values and morals of the respective time periods well.
The mystery of a man's picture and intertwined strands of hair in a locket found in an antique trunk in 2012 along with the inscription declaring eternal love, obsesses the heroine until fate sends her spiraling back 200 years to be found by him. A lovely debut novel - I eagerly await the rest of this series.

I just so happened upon book two, NOT realizing I had already gotten book one. Book one was a hoot to read :-) I SO enjoyed the characters (they really came alive), getting to know their personalities as siblings was wonderful! And just how Emme comes to terms with HER life (here or there) was well written! I'm looking forward to book two :-)

Here is finally, a non-whiny heroine, a decent human non-rake male hero, and truly interesting secondary characters. This story held me captive from start to finish and I can't wait to read more of the series. No wild sex scenes or foul language were needed to carry the story and you won't even realize it till you're done.

3.5 stars. This was an entertaining time-travel (2012 to 1812) romance -- and "clean". Naturally one had to suspend disbelief more than a little, but I found I soon cared about how it would all turn out. Basically well-written, with just a few editorial glitches.

Well-crafted characters and clever plot twists make this a truly enjoyable read. It's a potpourri of magic, Regency romance, and a heroine who's truly likeable. The pace of the story is smooth and energetic, with a good balance between action and ambiance. It needs one more editing pass... there are a few mis-used words, and an irritating frequency of incomplete sentences. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, but those relatively minor issues didn't distract me from enjoying this charming adventure.

4.5 stars: there were some obvious fates/stories left out but I see that they are probably handled in the rest of this series. The locket's traveling through time to reach Emme's hands is something I am looking forward to learning in the future stories. I kept questioning in my mind if all the electronic devices would have worked after traveling 200 years into the past, even with a solar recharger? Is everything stored on an iPad kept intact? I guess it is.
Time travel is becoming more and more of an interest to me. Previously I would have avoided a book with such but the whole Outlander series and some Jane Austen Fan Fiction books have pulled me in so I was not hesitant to purchase this book, especially when it went on sale. The story line has been reviewed by others or you can read the story description and the book sample for that. I am not going over the plot but what I liked or not.
Emme, her brother, Marc, James, Georgiana, and even, Jasmine are endearing characters. I loved the teasing between Emry and Marc and how they shared not only their interests with each other but also looked out for each other. Then there are siblings and neighbors in the present and in the 1800's whose stories are revealed in future books but who add dimensions to this story.
This story kept my interest but was also a fairly quick read. I began it late one evening and read about 80% before going to bed but finished it quickly the next morning. I liked the descriptions of how both Emme and James felt something was lacking in their lives and of how they had honor when the sexual attraction was so strong in their ongoing relationship. Each not only cares about the other but also practice caution in considering how their actions might affect those they love. The fact that our heroine has a locket with another man's initial signed causes both to believe she has a love interest already. But her memory loss keeps both on edge as to whether that initial's owner will show up and whether he will claim Emme for his own.
There are also some humorous spots, i.e., James scolding Emme about not telling him about football in the future! And I laughed over the author's revelation at the end that all the travel mishaps were from real life.
I truly look forward to reading the rest of this author's series and recommend this book to others.

Intertwine was surprisingly believable--but even more enjoyable! A clean, quirky romance with plenty of sexual tension. I loved Nichole Van's writing style. Descriptions were fresh and savorable, yet my favorite parts of the entire books have to be all the dialogue between the characters. Oh my goodness--the dialogue is hilarious and heart-melting. Well done, Nichole--can't wait for the other books in your series.

I really enjoyed this book. I like time travel romance and this one really fits the bill. The author is very creative and humorous and I will definitely look for more from her. I especially liked alter Emme! I found myself laughing out loud at some of her commentary on an unusual situation. This was worth way more than the price I paid for it, but is very reasonable, so I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good story. Kudos to the author!

*This review will be left identically for both the first and second books in this series*
The storyline was interesting and the forward progression at a relatively good pace (except for book 1. The beginning was far, FAR too drawn out. Not interesting enough. And I had to force myself through it.). There were only a few VERY minor typos between both books (except the author kept saying taekwondo instead of Tae Kwon Do, which is the proper way). And I was curious how things would play out. However, I felt no real connection with the characters. I didn't dislike them, I just couldn't personally identify with them. In either book - hero or heroine. Perhaps it was a little bit TOO light-hearted. Or, perhaps, it tried too hard to have humor which...wasn't funny. So, I only continued to read because I was curious what would happen. What the mysteries were. Etc. Not because I truly cared about the love story or felt anything personal toward the characters.
In sum, if you're looking for a lighthearted read that will be interesting, then by all means, I recommend this book. However, if you like your love stories to move you and cause you almost a physical ache when the story is over, this book is not for you.

This was my first time reading this author's work. I found her story very easy to read, her characters likeable and the love story very romantic, add in some time travel and it makes for a very enjoyable read. I see that there will be 4 books in this series, I've already bought book two, can't wait. MUST READ, you'll truly enjoy it.

This book was written so well. The humor throughout the book had me laughing so hard I cried. You loved the characters so much you felt like you wanted to be friends with them. The storyline was wonderful and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering how it would end. I had trouble putting the book down. You know one of those books where it's 3:00 a.m. and you know you should go to bed but you can't stop reading. I loved that she didn't just end the book. She actually let you know how they were living their lives in the epilog. I can't wait for the next book in the series. What a wonderful writer. I hope she keeps writing forever!!!

Well written romantic time travel story about a woman who finds a locket and becomes obsessed with the handsome man portrait within it. If you're looking for an easy read with no mind numbing details this book is perfect.

A time travel novel that accounts for more of the small details that I wonder about. I shall start looking for a solar charger to use with my phone and then look for a portal.

What a beautiful, compelling time travel romance! The story played out believably with some particularly vivid, hilarious details as it neared the conclusion. I don't want to spoil them so won't go into detail. Let's just say I'm ready for the sequel!

I enjoyed this story, however it failed to really capture my attention. It was slightly to casual for me, I like my fiction more serious. I thought the plot was rather simple, could of had a bit more going on.

I absolutely loved this novel! It encompasses so much . . . the regency period, romance, time travel, and just loads of humor. I actually found myself laughing out loud during the "knock you up" conversation. Having devoured this book, I can't wait to read its sequel.

This book was truly great. I had imagined that it would be one of those run-of-the-mill romances where she falls through time and loves her new underwear-less life so much that she never returns. Intertwine was definitely not that story!
Furthermore, the author did an amazing job of balancing historical fact with the main character's more modern experiences. And the lies they make up to hide her true identity will crack you up! I hope Princess Pepsi never catches wind of this!

Clever and well written. I love finding a great book and author- this is both.
Books three and four were even better, especially the fourth! (Sorry, haven't read the second yet, so I can't say anything about that one)

With already 220 reviews (over 90% favorable - 68% 5 stars and 23 % 4 stars), I'm not sure what I can add worth reading that hasn't already been said. I knew nothing about the author Nichole Van or this book until I did a Time Travel subject search on my local library website. Among the more interesting time travel books was this time travel romance story. Although I've enjoyed some romance books (mainly Debbie Macomber) the past few years, I wasn't sure about a TIME TRAVEL romance. But the price was right - free borrow from the library - and I was soon able to pick up my hold from the library. My wife soon discovered this was a special story at the same time as I did - she couldn't avoid hearing my loud belly laughs while reading some of the scenes. I immediately ordered the book from the store before I even finished the library copy. The story had everything that I enjoy in a book - characters I can like, care for, and root for. Add some of my fave fiction qualities - time travel, amnesia, and humor ... making this one of my fave books in years. I've now read it a total of four times in just a few months and quickly order and read (four times each also) the next two books in the series DIVINE and CLANDESTINE, which I'll review later. Although there is no recent information available on the planned 4th (and last) book of the House of Oak series - REFINE - I do hope Nichole is able to work out a story involving Jasmine and (the so far very unsympathetic character Lord Linwood) just as wonderful as the first 3 books - although it's hard to imagine ANY WRITER being able to pull that off. But - based on the first 3 books - I think Nichole has a fighting chance of writing yet another winner. I wouldn't bet against her!! Thank you, Nichole, for sharing your story, humor, and characters I can care about in your first three stories - but especially thank you for this first book of the series!! Jasmine and Lord Linwood ... WHAT A CONCEPT!!!

Time travel meets Regency? Yes, please! I would love to have a slice of the best of both worlds, Thank you very much!
I completely enjoyed this unique take on my favorite genre, Regency England. It is hard to find good, clean reads executed with such delightful wit and charm. Very well done.

I loved this story. The discussion that Georgina, Emme, Marianne, Arthur and Lindon were having at Lindon's home had me, as Alter Emme would say had me laughing so hard I had to "stop, please!" before I could continue reading. All I have to say is be ready for some belly laughs, some teeth grinding at irritating friends, and some awww moments in the story. I can't wait to see what happens to Georgina. (but I really want to see Lindon's story, he needs a good kick in the backside lol)

I've been searching for a book that could capture me & transport me away. This story fit the bill all to well. I couldn't put it down. It did not disappoint. I became the heroine, transported to a time 200 years ago. Awed & afraid. Torn between wanting to stay & wanting to return. I did not want it to end.

I thought the tone a bit too lighthearted and many of the issues that came up were swept aside too easily. The romance was nice but didn't strike me as one worth traveling through time for.
