This was my first read of a Susanna Kearsley novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was well written and the characters were well defined and memorable. I found all the informatiion about spies and under-cover agents a bit much to follow sometimes but it didn't affect the story which was fast-moving and interesting.
I always rate my books to pass on the information to friends and this one I rated 9/10.

Mystery, suspense, not Time Travel as other books but about the past World War Ii espionage. As Andrew Deacon said about a checkerboard of life, you move from space to space. I am glad it had a happy ending.
Sometimes there was too much description of things that were not essential to the storyline. Overall it was a great read and you hated for it to end.

I fell on this author by accident and thoroughly enjoyed her other two. I decided to read this one, even though it's the older one. I didn't like it as much as Winter Sea and Rose Garden. It kept my attention, I finished it, but I loved the other ones and just liked this one
Waking Kate :: The Shadowy Horses :: The Coincidence of Coconut Cake :: Distant Shores :: Intertwine (House of Oak Book 1)

This novel tells an amazing story of the present day and World War II. The action moves the story throughout North American and Europe, and I was excited that I couldn't predict every turn. The protagonist is a risk taker whose humanity enables her to regret some things she's done and some she hasn't. A very good read particularly for those who enjoy a good World War II story.

I really love Susanna Kearsley's writing and her attention to detail. The only problem is I read these books way too quickly.......I just have to know what is happening next. This book had twists and turns galore and kept me on my toes! Love it!

I have read all but one book that Susanna Kearsley has written. I am amazed at how well they are written. I have loved them all. I am looking forward to reading The Shadowy Horses. I HAVE HER LAST BOOK ON ORDER. I have recommended her books to friends and have bought them for my daughter's KINDLE.

I have read everything that this author has written. This was a little older book that was currently published in USA and it was a little different from her newer novels, but she never fails to come through with a good read!

Astounding. This book pushed all my buttons -- war, history, secret service, mystery, nobility of characters, foreign travel, all wrapped up in a well written believable story. Absolutely transporting. I expected another Kearsley good read, but this is a book is will not forget. Puts you right in the era and makes you want to learn more. For me, the highest compliment.

I got caught up completely in this story which has a bit of everything: intrigue, danger, romance and mystery. I wished it wouldn't end! I felt like I knew the people in it, and when it ended it was like I lost my friends.

Intriguing with out being confusing this book covers a lot of geography. It's one I pushed to finish, read almost the whole book in one sitting. It has suspense, romance, history, and a interesting array of characters. A great escape book to relax with on a rainy day. I look forward to reading more of Susanna Kearsley's books.

What a wonderful story this book turned out to be! It has it all - mystery, intrigue, travel, history & the best love story I've read in awhile. Being a fan of Susanna Kearsley's other books I quickly bought this one as well. I was not disappointed in her ability to make you a best friend of the main character as well as keep you guessing to the end. Well done Kearsley. Ready for the next!

Every Secret Thing reels you in right from the beginning. Kersley captivates her audience with another historical novel, but a little different than her others. Kate finds herself unraveling a mystery that began in World War II. If you enjoy her books I would recommend reading this one.

Listened to this book through my kindle...and quicky forgot the horribly robotic voice and got lost in the story. Actually ended up sitting in my car listening to it after I arrived at my destination. A lot of fun to read with good twists and turns.

No matter which Susanna Kearsley book I begin to read, I know I'm in for a "can't put it down" experience. Every Secret Thing more than lived up to my expectation of a novel well-written, original, and fascinating to the end.

This book was different than her others, and had a crime story theme with less focus on romance. As true to her writing style, it went back in time beautifully to wartime in Lisbon. Romance still played a part in this story, with an extra splash of mystery and suspense. Very well done!

I have read several books by Susanna Kearsley, so I was expecting the usual love story with a gothic twist, which I tend to really enjoy. This book was a definate departure from her normal style. It was more of a mystery than a love story and it drew me in from the first page. Although some of the twists were a little too "coincidental", it was a great story and kept me quessing until the very end. I enjoyed it very much and would love to see her write more mysteries in the future.
