This is definitely the book to read for Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus fans! Mentions things that happened before either series took place and explains so much and makes things even clearer. Entertaining! And for those fans who loved the books because there seemed to be a bunch of stories jammed into one this is perfect. Great for reading at almost anytime and almost anywhere.

Luke Castellan’s diary entry is the best story in the book, hands down. I’d rate the last one, by Riordan’s son, as the second best, even though I’m not really sure magic words fit very well with this world. The remaining stories are okay, but I got the feeling that they rely too heavily on deceit to overcome the obstacles along the way. That is, they almost have you believe that Percy’s friends are among the last few remaining smart heads beyond the Mist and that they are really lucky to only find gullible enemies in their path.

The 4 stories are alright but not up to the usual greatness that we get.The artwork, most we have seen before. (jason, piper, leo, percy, annabeth, luke) Thalia's picture made her look like a chubby emo boy.(she's a tall, lithe punk girl) blah. Plus in the kindle version, I didnt even get the artwork. I had to buy the hardcover version to get the pictures. How annoying. I just hope RR makes up for it in MOA.

I got so excited for ssome super easy puzzles and 4 okay stories.

The stories are cleverly put together, and the special addition by Haley-simply captivating! Riordan fascinates us with the answers to the mysteries of the amazing world of Percy Jackson. Beautifully written and well thought out.

This book was amazing; I had fun reading it. I thought that after I read this book it would calm my nerves as I wait for Mark of Athena. It didn't. In fact it made me more anxious. This is the perfect appetizer for the main course.

This book is basically divided into two parts: what Rick Riordan wrote and what his son Haley wrote.

Everything Rick wrote was, as usual, charming and funny and exciting and cute. He's one of my favorite writers because he knows how to balance the light and the dark, and it never gets too dark, even in life or death situations. His books are perfect "escape" books. They're fluffy, and I love that. I know I'm going to enjoy myself no matter which world or character he's writing.

I would have given this book four stars, but the very last story, "Son of Magic", knocked one off. Haley is a great writer for 16, and his stuff is years ahead what I was writing when I was 16, but the story just didn't fit. The main protagonist wasn't a demigod, and wasn't very likeable even at the end of the story. He uses a gun to try and kill a monster, and for some reason the appearance of guns, working guns that shoot bullets, in this world was disconcerting to me. It's almost too "real", and it knocks the tone down from exciting to a bit dark. Especially when the main protagonist kicks a monster's jaw so hard it flies off her face (as dust, but still). I also didn't like how Hecate was portrayed as a white-robed Virgin Mary wannabe praying at a church altar. What's that supposed to tell us? It's left unanswered but I definitely don't like the idea of these mythical Greek gods worshiping the Christian god. That sends a bad message.

Haley did not write badly. He knew how to pace and describe things, and it didn't feel clunky and choppy. It just didn't fit the tone of the world his father has established. He might be trying to inject some maturity into it, but I don't want that at all. I'll stick with Rick.

The books is small, don't mean short in length (although that is also true), but the overall size is about 3/4 the size of a regular book. Bought it for me daughter, so don't know if there was any info in it that you can't get out of reading the books.

If you plan to buy this book on your kindle, then change your plans. There are some cheesy puzzles that require a PEN and PAPER.
Next are the portraits. One little thing: TERRIBLE. they look hideous. Seriously check
And last thing: Rick, we know your a great children's writer, but your son isn't. Guns and bad thoughts aren't good influence that your son is telling about. I didn't even finish the book because the last story was so TERRIBLE. write an adult book, not a child's one!

Overall, cute stories but not for kindle or common readers

I ordered two of these books for my grandsons. Both boys are extremely disappointed as they cannot follow the story line due to large missing sections of the book but they are different sections in each book. Large sections of pages are repeated later in the book, leaving the pages that should have been there missing altogether. Don't order the book. Go to a book store and check to see that all of the pages are present before buying.

Next to The Mark Of Athena, this was my most awaited book of the year. The instant my friends and I got hold of the ebook, the four of us crowded around one kindle to read~ and squeal~ over the it. I had high expectations for this book, and, well, it completely exceeded them!
To start off, we get an awesome story taken from Luke Castellan's own diary, from the days when he and Thalia were on the run. It's action packed and FULL of witty humour. Luke has a very different voice than Percy's, and I think that after having read this, many people will like him more. And is Thalia/Luke really a thing...? Riordan answers all of our questions in it, so read the book to find out!
Then, we have "Percy Jackson And The Staff Of Hermes", from the days when Percy and Annabeth had just started dating. It's their one month anniversary, and Percy just might have forgotten... Do any of you miss the cute and dumb Percy from the earlier series? Well, he's back and better than ever! I love Percy and Annabeth's banter, and this funny and sweet story~ full with a date, a monster, a god and two particularily amusing snakes~ just makes me anticipate The Mark Of Athena even more than my mental health can manage.
Thirdly, there is a story involving Leo, Jason and Piper. Leo's really busy building the Argo II, but no thanks to a walking table who likes to be polished only in a certain way, he runs into very big trouble threatening to blow up Bunker Nine. There are crazy stalkerish psycho nymphs who worship Mr. D, Jason and Piper are officially a couple, and Leo is hilarious.
Some activities and an interview involving the aforementioned snakes are scattered around the book. Then in the end, Rick Riordan's son wrote a small story, also in the theme of demigods. I didn't like that story as much as the rest, but that was probably because it had completely new characters in it.
All in all, I really liked this book. My friends and I "awwwww"~ed a lot, especially during the first two stories. So if you can't wait for The Mark Of Athena to come out, or want your faith in The Heroes Of Olympus restored, read this book!

Rick Riordan's "The Demigod Diaries" is a series of short stories set as a sort of bridge in the stories in both his "Percy Jackson" & "Heroes of Olympus" series. In "The Diary of Luke Castellan" we learn of an early adventure between Luke & Thalia after they arrive at Camp Half-Blood. In "Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes", Percy is charged with a rather unique mission for Hermes. "Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford" finds Leo working on Argo II & on a quest to find a rather unruly table. The final story "Son of Magic" is written by Riordan's son, Haley, which answers questions about the Mist & what happened to the losers in the battle with Kronos. Each of the 4 stories in their own unique way offer a separate insight into this world of gods, monsters & demigods that has made these series so popular & in their own way stand alone in ways they only can. Granted the stories aren't exactly perfect & won't draw you in as much as the actual books in the series do, but this is still another excellent work by a very talented author.

The Demigod Diaries was a cute addition to The Heroes of Olympus series and after almost a whole year without him, it reminded me why exactly I like Jason so much. Well, more honestly, it reminded me how I instantly liked him when he was first introduced in The Lost Hero.

The Diary of Luke Castellan

Luke took center stage in the first short story, which I was really looking forward to. I know Luke was a bad guy, but I have to admit that I liked how he was portrayed before his turning evil and all.... Luke and Thalia are traveling together and meet a son of Apollo, Halcyon, who almost gets them killed and foretells Luke's foreboding future and Thalia's well, what do you call a future in which you are turned into a tree? This was actually the highlight of the story for me. Seeing their reactions was great and they were (of course) spot-on. And how can I not mention the Greek fire? Yes, they make Greek fire. All in all, it was enjoyable.

Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes

Next we have Percabeth on one of their typical adventures. One of the Greek gods (this time Hermes) interrupts them and sends them on a quest. My favorite aspect of this one was probably Hermes' and Percy's interactions. Hermes has always been one of the more gracious Greek gods without loosing any of his respectability. Percy's narration was wonderful and sarcastic as always, which makes the story fun. Annabeth was....meh. She was Annabeth and, honestly, who expects a celebration for their one month or two month anniversary? *sigh*

Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford

My favorite story of the four was most definitely the third one which featured Leo, Jason, and Piper. Oh man, I love them so much. Leo brings a serious but sarcastic vibe to the story. Jason is all calm and cool. Piper is the straightforward, no nonsense girl. Together, they set off into the woods of Camp Half-Blood searching for Buford (a walking, temperamental table) and meet some of Dionysus's crazy followers that even the Olympian avoids. In the mean time, they only have a hour before Bunker 9 explodes if they don't find Buford. I really love how the three demigods interact with each other. And, honestly, this one felt the most like the good ol' light-hearted aspects of Riordan's Greek mythology series which was definitely wonderful.

Son of Magic

The fourth and last story by Haley Riordan.... I was most excited for this one. We were finally going to see the goddess Hecate! While the portrayal of Hecate was wonderful and great, the story as a whole was disappointing. The writing was fine but I wish the demigod, Alabaster, had been the narrator. Instead of him narrating, we have a middle-aged man (Dr. Claymore) and I didn't like that. I think it would have been more enjoyable and more informative if Alabaster had narrated and it would have brought the story's focus more on him. As it was, the story was about Dr. Claymore more than Alabaster, which was really disappointing because Alabaster seemed like an interesting and even honorable character. There were a few interesting revelations though (how monsters can smell demigods and who controls the mist) which were probably the highlights of the story.

I just got done reading this and I really enjoyed it. The short stories were great and I loved getting to know more behind the scenes stories involving the characters. It definitely shed more light on the things that occurred in between the books, and with the series in general.

My favorite part of the book was the short story "Son of Magic" by Rick's 16 year old son Haley. This story was beyond anything I would expect from someone as young as Haley, but it is obvious that he has pure talent. I would definitely add him to your list of authors to look out for, cause he is destined for great things.

Thanks Rick for bringing us another great adventure in the Heroes of Olympus and I am counting down to "The Mark of Athena".

The Hero of Olympus: The Demigod Diaries
by Rick Riordan

I READ, WILL READ, ANYTHING THAT'S ABOUT PERCY JACKSON.

You can say I'm a hardcore fan of Rick Riordan's Greek and Roman demigod books. So far, Percy Jackson book series have never dispointed me, not even a chapter. Even though "The Demigod Diaries" is just a mini-inbetween-sequel book but it's as amazing and well-written as the others.

This book consists of 4 shorts stories. I will review and rate them one by one. There're maybe some spoilers throughout the review though.

1. THE DIARY OF LUKE CASTELLAN
★★★★ 4/5 stars
(view spoiler) It was very interesting to read Luke story from Luke's POV. He explains how hard it is for demigod outside the camp to fight for their survivals. It helps clarify Luke's hatred toward the Olympians. (view spoiler) Although it was told only briefly but the story answers so many questions about Luke's past. Reading it from his POV, I feel like he just a normal guy, a good guy even, not just the crazy demigod who tried to destroy the world, Like most of us used to think. This help understand him more. Great Stuff!!!

2. PERCY JACKSON AND THE STAFF OF HERMES
★★★★ 3.5/5 stars
Well...Don't get me wrong I like Percabeth. They're really cute together but it feels strange reading them going out on a date rather than fighting side by side. As always I love Percy's sense of humour. It was fun and excited as always has been. Fire breathing Giant wearing a pair of valentine boxers (LOL) (view spoiler)George and Martha are hilarious.

3. LEO VALDEZ AND THE QUEST FOR BUFORD
★★★ 3.5/5 stars
I got to admit I don't like Leo when he first appeared in the Lost Hero. But he kindda grew on me. And seriously!! A running away table!!
Even though the quest was kind of funny and weird but there're a serious twist to it.

4. SON OF MAGIC
★★★★ 4/5 stars
OH.MY.GOD HALEY!! YOU'RE AMAZING
Again it's very interesting to hear from a demigod fighting for Kronos, how their lives after the battle. "Son of Magic" answered the question about how monster can sense demigods. It also supposed to answer a question about the Mist as well. However It tells what we already know about the Mist. This story will also give you a hint of what would happend in the next book - so stay tune .I can see throughout the story that Haley's style of writing is influenced by his Dad. I must say he has done really well for his debut story. Though the part about pulling a sword out of a card reminds me of a Japanese anime I used to watch. I hope to see a full book from him. I hope he keeps it up. You've done a good job. Keep It Up Haley!!

Overall it was a really good mini-inbetween-sequel book, though I think you might need to have a basic knowledge about Percy Jackson to be able to keep up with the book. I recommend this book for those who've read Percy Jackson and the Olympian book series and the Lost Hero, find them amazing and want to know more about this Greek & Roman Mythology and modern world mash up. This book is "A MUST" to you :)

When mayhem erupts in the world of gods and demigods, expect Rick Riordan to be nearby to make sure we hear about it. And in his newest addendum to THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS series, THE DEMIGOD DIARIES definitely brings back what made readers fall in love with Percy Jackson and his friends years ago. Filling in this volume is a handful of short stories, full-color portraits of the characters, games, and a few puzzles and maps.

Before Luke and Thalia made it to Camp Half-Blood, they were constantly on the run facing monsters and gods. Often mentioned in the first five PERCY JACKSON books, we finally find out more details about what exactly happened in those early years in "The Diary of Luke Castellan." When Thalia and Luke follow a mysterious magical goat, they find themselves in a strange house that doesn't want to let them leave. Mysteries hide upstairs and danger waits at every window and hallway. But if Thalia and Luke are going to survive, they're going to have to summon dangerous powers that could kill them all.

"Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes" is a fun short story following Percy and Annabeth as they receive a quest from the gods on their one-month anniversary. It feels like years since we last saw Percy and Annabeth together -- and some of their interactions are bordering on genius writing from Riordan.

The third story follows a newer character, Leo Valdez from THE LOST HERO, as he tries to stop a catastrophe from destroying Camp Half-Blood for good. But as Piper and Jason join up to help in "Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford," they find more danger than usual lurking in the forest outside camp. It's going to take all of Leo's ingenuity to make it out alive and save them all.

Rick Riordan's son, Haley takes the reins on the last story, "Son of Magic," to answer questions that have been hanging out in the shadows for years: Where does the Mist come from? How can monsters smell demigods and find them? And what happened to the gods and demigods who fought for Kronos in the war of THE LAST OLYMPIAN? At only sixteen, Haley shows skill at building a story that is much darker in tone than other PERCY JACKSON tales. The story does take a few pages to build up and get moving, but once it does, the unique perspective and material is enough to keep things intriguing.

Mixed throughout the book are word searches, puzzles, and word scrambles, as well as notes from Rick Riordan, and a funny interview with George and Martha, the snakes curling around Hermes' staff. Answers to all of the puzzles are included as well.

The writing is typical top-notch Riordan, and the pages fly by once readers immerse themselves in the story. He's done an excellent job once again in a volume similar to THE DEMIGOD FILES released a few years ago. And he's definitely brought enough to whet the appetite of Percy fans until THE MARK OF ATHENA releases.

The following a very hyper review.

When I saw this book on my kindle, I freaked out. Luckily, I had just bought an the store gift card so practically I was very excited. When it was downloaded on the kindle, I sat and read. Hello Heaven. Okay the first story was Luke Castellan's diary from when he was 14. When I found that out, I literally freaked out in happiness like, YIPPEE I LOVE YOU RICK RIORDAN YOUR THE BEST AUTHOR EVER IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND.PERIOD. I read the diary entry and fell in love with Luke again. my favorite part was when he was like," The complement warmed me up like a cup of hot chocolate. I'm a sucker that way. Thalia can flash those blue eyes, give me one kind word, and she pretty much can get me to do whatever." HELLO PEOPLE! Can't you see that Luke and Thalia were a THING?!?!? Stop being so delirious, you Rays of Sunshine!(That's a pun) Okay, I gotta admit: I'm a sucker when it comes to couples like Percabeth . So, I was Psyched when I realised it. Come on, you loaves, open your eyes to the awesomeness that Rick Riordan's brilliant brain comes up with! Oh God. Don't even get me started on the 2nd story, Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes. GODS ALMIGHTY RICK RIORDAN IS GOING TO MAKE ME FAINT WITH HAPPINESS! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! The story centers on Percabeth completely.YIPPEE! The 3rd story? Blah. I hated it. The thought of Jiper makes me wanna HURL IN DISGUST. I HATE EM. They're freaking wimps, both of them. All I know about Jason is that he is " way hotter than Percy" According to Piper McLean.(Or should I say Piper McLame) They deserve no Fan Girl actions AT ALL. I'm signing out. See Ya!

Normally I rate Percy Jackson Five star book.
I loved everything about it but the end.
I have purchased the audio, and the book.
Son of magic was one I couldn't quite listen to.
Why?
Very confusing . This wasn't written by Rick but his son Haley. I love Percy Jackson don't get me wrong, but son of magic didn't really fit. Everything else fit in good with the whole story plot just not song of magic. I do recommend this book just not the last part.

Another great book by Rick. The stories are great. The characters are great. The activities are great. I suggest this if you are a Rick fan and are counting down the hours until Mark of Athena comes out.

First, the Diary of Luke Castellan. This is so cool, because it shows the days when Luke and Thalia were on the run. They're adventure includes an old man named Hal, some green fire, a blonde in flannel pajamas, and suspense! Rick's timing is perfect and he does a great job in this part.

Next is Percy Jackson and the Caduces of Hermes. Percy and Annabeth are celebrating their one month anniversary of dating. Or, Annabeth is. Percy may have forgot. But then Hermes pops up with a quest for the couple. A bunny-slipper wearing giant has stolen George and Martha! Percy acts so funny, juggling his quest and his promise he forgot he made to Annabeth. Again, the details were so vivid and the story was Meat-Packed with suspense!

After that we have Leo's Quest for Buford. Involving an almost exploding engine, a magic table named Buford, and eggnog drunk nymphs, this story will have you on the edge of your seats. Jason and Piper are a couple and Leo is as cute an funny as ever!

Last, we have Son of Magic, by Rick's son Haley. This story was an amazing piece of work for a 16 year old kid with ADHD and dyslexia. I loved this story and hope to see Haley writing books like his father in the future!

All in all, this was a great buy and is worth the money.

Not the best but okay. I have to dock a few points because this book was all over the place. I liked Luke's diary, but I wanted more. The staff hermes was excellent and well written. Go Martha and George! The Buford one was okay, but it made Piper look like a airhead. Haley is a excellent writer like his dad, but beyond my vocab and brain span. Remember Haley people a lot younger than you read this. The portraits were awesome. But I really see no reason for Jason. He seems like a knock off of Percy. Piper is a airhead and is obsessed with Jason. Leo is pure awesomeness.

In my opinion, Rick Riordan is getting boring. I loved the Lightning Theif Series in Fifth grade and the "The Lost Hero" and "The Son of Neptune" were maybe even a little better. However, I couldn't even bring myself to read the final book in the Kane Chronicles. The second one was just so bland. I only read this one because my school's library had it. The Story from Luke's diary was okay, I really got to like Hal, but something about Thalia just scares me. I didn't really like Percy or Leo's stories, so those I won't even really talk about. I had pretty much given up on the book when I read Haley Riordan's "Son of Magic". I loved it from the start.

Haley turns Rick's side of The Olympian's world up side down. It's not just a demigod being chased by the monster, it's a mortal! Now we get to see what a close encounter with the un-misted truth is like for a regular guy. Well, if you can call a rich and famous scientist/author regular. Dr. Claymore's character was very interesting to me. He's a researcher on the topic of religion and what happens after death. He doesn't belive anything he can't see, so he doesn't believe in God or anyother deity. He wants data. He wants results. This is what he tells Alabaster, son of Hecate the godess of magic. Alabaster has new powers that no other demigod we have seen has even hinted towards (other than summoning a weapon from some kind of small object). These powHers remind me of a wizards or magicians. I especially like his control over the mist. Both the characters relate to me a lot. They are arrogant, intellegent and strong leaders. They love telling people what to do. Sometimes though, they get stuck which is what happens when they face of Lamia and have to work together to figure out what to do. It sounds like Haley is going to continue their story and I hope that we may even see them appear in one of the next Heroes of Olympus books. It was nice to see two completely new percpectives (a mortal and a demigod who followed Kronos) in come from the new dynamic duo of greek mythology.

This story made getting the "Demigod Diaries" totally worth it. Thank you Rick Riordan for letting someone else take the spotlight and Haley you have found a fan in me.

Rick Riordan did a fabulous job on this series of stories. I especially loved the one, Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes, as, coincidentaly, it happens after The Last Olypian, and before The Son of Neptune. I think that it makes the story a lot more interesting. I thought is was an awesome book, and I enjoyed it a lot!

Note: This review probably contains lots of spoilers.

I loved The Demigod Diaries! It was worth the long wait, and I was counting down the weeks until it arrived. First, there is the story "The Diary of Luke Castellan;" which I really liked. It's about Luke and Thalia getting stuck in a House of Horrors--there they are trapped, and at sundown they will be eaten by a monster. They have to find a way out, with the help of an old demigod, Hal, who can't speak, and has a diary that looks just like "The Demigod Diaries." At the end, they find a little blond girl in an alley. . . . Next (which is my personal favorite--and not just because of the Percy/Annabeth thing; it was the best story) is "Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes." Percy forgets about his and Annabeth's one-month anniversary, on a picnic date. He is saved as Hermes arrives in a "Hermes Express" truck, and asks them to recover his staff, which he lost. The ending is really sweet and I wish it had been a little longer. Then it shows pictures of all the characters--actually, I've seen all of them before (of course, except Hal's), even Thalia's (on the Internet, a picture of her from someone's "advanced copy" of the book), but it was nice for them to be printed out on good paper. And I loved Thalia's picture! She looks perfect. I was actually a little disappointed with "Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford." Leo is not very funny in it--the whole story feels very rushed (and it actually was, as Leo, Jason and Piper have to find Buford in less that an hour). And I feel left out on the Piper/Jason thing. I'm glad that they're "officially together," but did their first kiss have to be through Leo's point of view? I felt confused at the beginning of Haley's story--then it got better, but it was pretty slow altogether. And the puzzel in the book finally proves it--ANNABETH is the seventh in the prophecy!!

In this book percy jackson and Annabeth go on an amazing adventurer to find Hermes lost staff that is everything to him.The third book is leo valdez and the quest for Bufford.Bufford is a walking table that ran away with an important machinery that will prevent the argo 2 (a boat) from exploding.I cant tell you more but if you want to Know about the son of magic you better read the book!!!!!!(buy it its awesomely cool!!!!!!!)

I feel like I was robbed!! This was at best a few chapters of a book. It was like a sample of a book. Rick should be ashamed to put it up for sale. It's enough to make me not buy his next book. I'm really disappointed! If fact, I would like to get my money back.

I loved the Demigod Diaries stories! I loved how Rick Riordan showed us a little bit of the back-story of Luke and why he was so angry with the gods from a personal point of view. It made Luke more relatable too and gave him more of a human look. I also wonder if he'll do anything more with relationship between Luke and Thalia. (if he does he might also bring up Artemis and Orion but that's a topic for a different day) Anyway I enjoyed as wellhow he showed Percy and his relationship with Annabeth. It really easy to relate to as well as funny. I enjoyed engineering perspective in Leo's point of view. Being an Engineering Major myself I especially Leo and his antics.

The one that I was especially impressed with was Haley Riordan's story the Son of Magic. Now granted I wasn't expecting a lot considering we were semiconsciously comparing it to his dad's work, but I gave a go anyway. It was a much darker tone with less humor than the other stories but very thought provoking. While Rick Riordan's work was fun, light, and enjoyable, it was Haley's story in that was my favorite. (Don't get me wrong Rick Riordan your still my favorite author!) It just really got you thinking and was inspiring when I needed it the most.

Thanks Haley don't quit writing! Your off to a good start! And Rick just keep up the great work! I can't wait tell the Mark of Athena!

YAY!!!! haleys story was good but i was a bit confused at the beginning. it quickly made sense after a few pages. my only compaint is that i couldnt find thalias picture. if anyone knows where it is could you please say. over all great book.

I have been a fan of Rick Riordan's writing for almost five years so of course when I realized that this book was coming out, I was super excited.... but with high excitement comes high expectations, which unfortunately wasn't met for me. Don't get me wrong- I still enjoyed the book very much, it just wasn't "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" good enough..... Unfortunately, I don't think that any of his recent books have as good as when the Last Olympian had come out.. but I'm sure Mark of Athena will be good!!!

the reason that i ended up giving this a 3 star instead of 2 was probably because of the first diary- Luke's. In this diary we really got to see a new side of Luke, not the admirable Luke who Annabeth was really fond of and we definately didn't see the scary Kronos Luke, we got to see Luke as a teenager, just a brave and talented kid who ran away from home. We also got to learn about why Luke ended up the way he did, being a traitor to his fellow half bloods, even though the Luke we met was very likeable. we also got to meet Thalia, her personality hadn't changed too much, she just didn't come across as being too confident in herself early on. The part of the diary entry I enjoyed the most is when Thalia and Luke first met Annabeth. She was around 7 at the time and after reading this anyone will be able to understand why Annabeth was so attached to Luke.

Percy's diary was pretty good too. It takes place a month after The Last Olympian and its Percy and Annabeth have to retrieve a staff for Hermes. I wasn't a big fan of the plot in this diary entry but, I really enjoyed the dialouge. It has been over two years since fans have read Percy/Annabeth dialouge so it was finally nice to read some more.

The last diary was Leo's. I really didn't like it. What happened was that Leo had caused havoc in bunker nine and he needed Piper and Jason's help. Jason was the hero. AS USUAL. I never liked Jason, he seems like a confident version of Percy... Though I like Piper's character, I hate how she is always drooling over Jason. It seems untrue ti her character. Even though Leo is always there for comic relief, tht wasn't the case this time. He is usually funnier...

In the last 20% of the book, there was an exerpt of a story written by Rick Riordan's son, Haley. Even though it is clear that Haley is a strong writer, I wasn't a big fan if the plot or charactef development. The story was quite dull and the whole idea was very boring. Even though Haley is only 16, I do think that if someones writing is inside a Rick Riordan book, it is going to get critiqued in comparison to the actual author.

So... theres my review. Hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment if you want to talk Percy Jackson with me. :)

It was a lot of fun to read and it did explain some of the things Leo said in the Mark of Athena. The last story in it was a bit sad and made Hecate's kids seem a lot more powerful then I'd think a minor goddesses should be but it was a really good read! =) btw Rick Riordan is a AWESOME!!!! Writer

In this amazing story for ages eleven and up, true friendship is shown - two friends rescue a seven-year-old runaway, a teenage boy helps a god, three friends escape monsters, and a half-blood is about to die.
This book shows great training tips and logic... especially for children of Artemis.

Rick Riordan has been my favorite author since I have been getting into greek mythology! But I am so impressed how well his son wrote! Personally it was my second favorite artical in the book just because it was about a bad guy. Mr. Riordan is better because he is doing this for a long time and he is older. My first favorite artical is percy and the staff of hermes because it is so mythologic and inspiring.

This book was great because it gave me background knowledge on the characters in the Olympus Series. It also gave me extra adventures to read. I would recommend this to kids who have read The Heroes of Olympus series. I recommend this to anyone who loves the Percy Jackson Series and for anyone who was never a big fan of reading.
