Not her best book. Terrible ending. Why would someone hide the fact of finding the mother of their grandchild and not tell their son. Loyalty should lie with your family over keeping a friend's secret.

Unfortunately, the author continues to use a predictable format. Her novels provide a trip to Nantucket with a good sense of the local scenery, places of interest, etc.; but the emphasis on teenage drinking and sex gets a bit stale after you have read two or three of her novels.

This book explored relationships. One level was between 3 friends, another level was between a husband and wife and the third was between a mother and son. A woman had to examine her assumptions about who she was as a woman. There was a mystery in it as well which made you really want to complete the book. The fact that the setting was in a coastal community on an island contributed to the relationships and the mystery. I liked the book!

This novel read well at first, but then portrayed each character's view of occurring events through a dedicated chapter for each main character. This style became a bit tedious for me because it happened multiple times. As a result, the story flow was interrupted by having to change platforms of view. Maybe that was the point, but it didn't flow easily for me. It may work for others.

Three teenager girls meet in Nantucket. One a dancer, a future lawyer, and the future wife of a construction mogul. They've remained close friends for years. Their yearly ritual of "Summer Swim" included picnicking on the beach, sharing secrets, and a midnight swim has lasted for 20 years. But everything turns into a nightmare this year, when one women goes into the ocean and never comes out. A full scale police investigation ensues, pointing to one of the women as a murder suspect. Rumors and innuendoes make this a very good murder mystery to read on the beach.

I bought this book after my Sister in Law recommended the author and we go to Nantucket regularly. I found not one thing to be appealing about this story - every character was completely unlikeable and/or pathetic. The characters really were not well developed - I didn't get the relationship between the women at all. I kept reading along hoping that something redeeming would happen in the story - nope. I found one of the sexual relationships to be disgusting. The best I could muster was to feel pity toward the main character. I had high hopes I'd find some light enjoyable reading for my summer, I can't imagine buying another book from this author if the rest are anything like this one.

I really enjoy Erin Hildebrand books. it reminds me of the beach and summertime reading. This story will keep you wandering about the missing person Antoinette. You get to hear the struggles between a teenager and his parents. You question adult friendships in this book too. All in all I enjoyed this book.

The story kept me interested and turning the pages, but I found parts of the plot to be a bit disturbing. That in and of itself does not make a book bad. I just did not care for the plot twist personally.

Once I discovered author Elin Hilderbrand, I totally fell in love with her books--all located at Nantucket Island. This one didn't disappoint me either. If you like to be "carried away to the ocean and beach" - read any AND ALL of her books.

This book was good enough...I found myself wanting to read it to find out what happened next. None of the characters were particularly likable to me, and more than that, they acted in ways that made me feel annoyed and bewildered. I would love to say more but don't want to give anything away...but what I CAN say is that if these women were friends, they were of an absolutely abysmal variety. I found myself wanting to scream, over and over, "Make better choices!"
