I enjoyed this novel. It's a playful adaptation of an old favourite but the twists and turns are clearly the author's own. Lots of magic as you'd expect, an evil king and a love interest, but that's probably where the similarities end. It's definitely Disney for grown ups.

I love the idea of rewriting fairy tales for adults. These are the stories we grew up on for us now that we are grown up. The characters were believable and the villain was evil. What I want from all books (especially fairy tales) is a happy ending. This definitely gives you that. A great read that I could not put down. I will absolutely read more from this author.

This was a unique retelling of a beloved classic. I loved the idea of Zuleika being an enchantress and "Belle" in this story. Prince Vardan is not deserving of the curse that transforms him into a beast and makes the people of entire island he is in charge of disappear from sight. Sorcery, pirates, curses, and true love; what more can a person ask for?
My Champion (Knights of de Ware Book 1) :: Highland Fire (Guardians of the Stone Book 2) :: White Lion's Lady (Warrior Trilogy Book 1) :: The Warrior's Wife (The Warriors Series Book 1) :: A Medieval Romance (The Sword of Glastonbury Series Book 1)

HOOKED from page one! Not many stories pull me in but this one has kept me glued to my iPad! I just can't get enough. I love the changes in the story, the pirates and the characters! The writing is excellent and sometimes I reread sentences just because the writing is so incredible. Even the dialogue sounds realistic for the setting. Well done and I'll be reading more of your work!

This retelling of Beauty and the Beast finds the witchy beauty with a beast cursed by his jealous brother. She never thought her prince would come; he never thought love would find him. Their journey to each other was rocky but well worth it.

A lovely retelling of my favorite fairytale, with some clever versions of certain aspects. I thought it took Lady Belle just a wee bit too long to figure certain things out, but that didn't take anytime away from my total enjoyment of the book.

This is a wonderful retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story with a twist that makes it unique. No wicked witches, the evil is all to human. Well written and characters you'll love. This is a great addition to my Fairy Tales - Old and New collection.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.
This was a great retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It has great imagery and a wonderfully independent heroin. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling with a darker twist, suitable for adults. Although the author uses the classic fairy tale as inspiration, this retelling's plot is unique. Well written, with well developed characters, the story flows seamlessly towards a happily ever after.

What happens when you add:
1. Trickery
2. Magic
3. Scheming of a big proposition

You get a whole lot of trouble and a bit of hope in the mix.

Will call 3 problems have a good solution or a bad one?
Enjoy!!

I liked this retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, except that it was a little hard to read. The story was good, but could have been more to the point in some places. Also, the fact that the heroine doesn't recognize that the spell was cast by her until really late in the story is unbelievable, especially once she sees the spell casting artifact.

This book is very well-written. I cared about the characters and enjoyed the retelling of this classic story. The heroine is smart and independent, which is the driving force of the plot. My only complaint is that the ending was a bit short, almost abrupt.

This is an adult reimaging or bringing back some original story themes...not for children! I enjoyed the twist and turns of how the story was presented and would recommend it. Now I need to delve into the rest of the series!

There were times the story wound along very well. The tension built regarding the king's possible actions never amounted to anything, making the reading much like climbing a hill and finding the view much the same as before. Still not a bad version of the original.

this version of the story is delightful, the plot was very good and how she overcame the curse she had placed years prior after she realized she was the source of the curse was a surprize. I am wiating for the next book

Very well written, this retelling of Beauty and the Beast focuses on the story of the enchantress. From undecided minds jumping back and forth to prejudice clouded judgement, you never what's going to happen

This is a different version of Beauty and the Beast, and it was definitely fun to read! A tale of the witch who cast the spell and the man who received it, and how they came together! It a good book for Rhodes of us who like fairytales!

This fairy tale has been rewritten for an adult audience. It's very enjoyable and has all the elements a fairy tale should have - a wicked villian, an enchantress, and a cursed but deserving prince. If you love fairy tales, (and I do), you will love this story. I was rooting for the prince all the way through.

Beautiful story. Beautifully written. While it seemingly paralleled Beauty and the Beast, it its story line was a bit different. I loved the romance and would not hesitate to recommend this book to others.

Beauty and the Beast is my absolute favorite fairy tale. This is indeed a different interpretation of the tale and mostly an enjoyable read but not for the faint of heart. I feel our heroine could have been a little smarter and more politically aware but still a good story.

A creative take on a classic story; The story flows very nicely; never a dull moment.

Would liked to have known if King Thorn got what he deserved, but other than that, I'd recommend this book.

This was a well written quick read. This book did feel a tiny bit unfinished. It left me thinking...what the heck happened with the brother. Some may like that though... It just agrivates me when there are loose ends like that.

A lovely retelling of an old classic. I have always enjoyed this fairytale and I liked the quirky changes the author put in. There is a very short rape scene in chapter four so if that offends, be aware. This book I will probably read again because I liked it that much.

Such an interesting story. I loved the author's retelling of Beauty and the Beast. A great believable plot, loveable characters and HEA. A must read. This is my second book by the author and I'll go back for more. Nice storytelling.

I found this telling of Beauty and the Beast captivating. Such an interesting twist to an old story. I read way into the night to finish it and I haven't done that often since growing up, just no time. If you enjoy fairytales you need to read this retelling.

While the story is a well-told and imaginative take on Beauty and the Beast, I was hoping for a bit more romance. I thought the story spent far too much time on the politics of the kingdoms. I wanted more of the relationship. The entire "world" was so well imagined and written it was disappointing to be left wanting when hero and heroine finally meet.

Just finished this spin on the classic tale, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the other worldness of the setting. Like the writer, I often wonder about characters who have an impact but are only mentioned in passing.

This was an excellent story with a unique plot that I thoroughly enjoyed! Zuleika was a likable character and the romance was present and lovely in the book with a realistic build, but it didn't overpower the plot line. I loved this take on beauty and the beast, and look forward to reading the rest in the series!
