This is such a wonderful and enticing read that keeps you on your toes and desperately trying to get to the end to see if the characters have a happy-ever-after! This is really presented in such a wonderful way. To see the wealthy noble dedicate his life to protecting and becoming everyone's hero. Really, really enjoyed and highly recommend.

I looked up 'clean romance' and this fell under the category--er, not sure why. But I ended up downloading the book because it was free (hooray) and there were a lot of great reviews.
So, I began reading. I apologize but the writing felt heavy, rushed and I was about to put it down because I could not get into the story...then the sex scenes happened. Very explicit sex scenes.
That is when I definitely realized that Dorothy was surely not in Kansas anymore. Sorry, not my style of book. But the cover is lovely.

Rated 'R' for explicit sex scenes and some language.

This had a wonderful plot, with action, romance, danger, and intrigue. What I could not get past though was the intense dislike I developed for Linet ( the heroine) almost immediately. The more I read the more prideful and arrogant she became. I finally just went from chapter 10 to the end just to see if she was ever humbled.
I hope all of Glynnis Campbell's heroine's aren't like that as I would like to try another one of her books.
Highland Fire (Guardians of the Stone Book 2) :: White Lion's Lady (Warrior Trilogy Book 1) :: The Warrior's Wife (The Warriors Series Book 1) :: The Thief's Countess (Border Series Book 1) :: Beauty and the Beast Retold (Romance a Medieval Fairytale Book 1)

Follow the adventure of a strong, very passionate independent women whom is unaware of the trouble that follows in her wake. That is until it's too late. The De Ware heir gets caught up in the action trying to keep them alive and his angel unharmed
Found the story engaging and fast paced. This is a historical romantic adventure you don't want to miss.

Try as I might, I never really liked the characters. The hero was arrogant, condescending, and quick tempered. The same could be said of the heroine--only add distrustful, rude, and reckless. Their constant headstrong bickering grew tedious. I was relieved it finally ended. I will try top 8

The premise had merit. I only finished this because I actually liked the Knight. Linet, the heroine...I use that term extremely loosely, was less than well designed. A deathbed promise is one thing, built in prejudice is another thing, wrap that into a women with absolutely no common or otherwise sense and very little self preservation and you have the heroine in a nutshell. If she had a brain in her head it didn't come into play until the last eighth of the book. There was so many better ways to have handled these ideas that I can't even begin to discuss them all. Using a women as stupid as this and well....you might as well have just thrown her into the dungeon and left her there for her inherent stupidity. The Knight stretched my limits as well as he kept coming back for more but at least he had vowed to protect those who could not protect themselves and she...she was her own worst enemy. I could not read another of this authors books if she treats all her heroines as brainless twits.

Loved this book. It's exciting and leaves you wanting more. There are three brothers...all as different as can be. Having read this one, I have to have the next two. Even better, while looking to buy them I discovered this is the author of another series I really loved, the Warrior Maids of Rivenlock. Glynnis is now a favorite of mine and I check for her often. You should too.

This was so well written, truly. My issue with the story was that Linet was an idiot and didn't deserve rescue so many times. That part got a bit tedious, and made her a tad unredeemable and a lot unlikeable. I did love Duncan - what an incredibly long-suffering hero. Linet just didn't work for me. But the writing was superb. =)

Daring, brave, chivalrous, indestructible hero. Swoon-worthy. The lady is annoying but it makes you love the knight even more. If you are looking for adventure with some guilty pleasure, read this one.

This book has it all. Drama, romance and laughter. All men should be like Duncan. Handsome, rugged and a charmer. He was a Hero to the end. Can't ask for more. Can't wait to read the rest of the de Ware books.

Looking at people without prejudice is a difficult undertaking when your upbringing has conditioned you to believe yourself in a better "class" than others.

It takes time and soul-searching for Linet to overcome her pride of "class" enough to see the real worth of Duncan and good-hearted "commoners". Only then can she find her happy ending.

Its ok but the heroine is rather annoying. I wanted to personally crawl in the book and shake the life out of her for being so stupid. Any normal woman would have caught on. I gave this 3 stars because of the hero. Although I do question his intelligence for falling in love with Linet.

I just finished reading all her books....and love them! This series is excellent as was her other series I just finished. She writes compelling stories and her characters are strong and interesting, especially the women. Highly recommend ALL her books!!! I wish she had more available.

Good story. Didn't like the heroine very much through most of the book though she eventually did become a better person, but the action and adventure was non stop. Would have purchased the second book if it didn't look like the heroine in that story was just as hard to like. Excellent writer, just needs to make her characters more likeable.

Not just entertainment - Set in the 14th century, this book discussed equal rights between noblemen and commoners. It also highlighted the appreciation that noblemen should have for commoner contributions. All issues that are still relevant today.

The author did a good job with character development; I was able to visualize all the characters and I understood what drove them. All issues were clearly defined with a dash of comic relief.

The whole book is engaging and interesting, but the last scenes at the conclusion of the book should be made into a play it is written hysterically it's funny it's engaging and it's exactly what would bring an audience to their knees wonderful writing consider making a play!

I absolutely loved this book. You are an amazing writer. Once I started reading I could not stop. I can't wait to read more of your books. You can weave a story that seems so real that I felt like I was right there.

The heroine is a self important, frustrating character. Till the very end the woman grated on my nerves. Why any person would forgive the things she did to the Hero, is beyond me. The story could have been good, if the heroine wasnt so nasty.

It was satisfactory but not great. I would not want to read it again. There was romance and some humor. It was mainly about how Duncan tries to win Linet's love. But no matter how hard he tries, she always turns him down. The story ends happily. If you like romance, you may like this book.

This story has the most stupid, unlikable female lead character. I have never disliked a character more than Linet which made the story hard to read because I kept wondering why Duncan stayed with that fool.

This was one of the most ridiculous 'heroines' EVER! Like other readers who wrote reviews commenting on the never-ending travails and blood letting, I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall to make it stop (but I love my kindle!). Such poor writing: "like novice nuns or reckless newly trained knights." Sheesh!!

Those de Ware guy are really something, especially Duncan the oldest. Wow ,what a great caring guy. Linet is sometimes a little too headstrong and snobby to me. All i all this is a great story of devotion, treachery. Really good read.
