This is a very comprehensive book to be studied from front to back. If you are not familier with the I-Ching, I would strongly recommend that you start with the I-Ching for beginners, then move on to this book after you have a better understanding of what is going on and how the I-Ching works and the history.

I just received the Kindle edition of the Wilhelm translation. thinking that I could use the Kindle version to consult it. Unfortunately, I cannot find the neat table that exists at the end of the printed edition giving all 64 hexagrams, making it easy to refer back to the main text. I am sure that somehow the readers are able to figure it out, but I guess I will have to scan the original table from the back of the printed version and keep it with my Kindle.

My purchase of two books was for replacements; one for a friend and mine that was simply worn out from use. I have researched other translations and none compare to this one. It is discouraging to read of those who have distorted the ancient wisdom in the I Ching to fit another set of beliefs. It is truly a book reflecting the wisdom of nature with the exception of the yin/yang (feminine/masculine) myth of opposites. It is wisdom that still speaks to the here and now.

Willhelm is by far the best translator. Almost everyone I've talked to who practices the I Ching agrees...
I Ching is an excellent form of divination. It's very easy. I do tarot and love both... however, if you have the option to try this, you can learn it almost instantly and continue to practice it.

The most understandable version of an old and complex study of human nature. I've owned the hardcover version for over 30 years. This version is much easier to carry. It presents the material from several different perspectives.

I certainly didn't buy it for the divination, but more for the understanding of the philosophies that lead to them. It takes some critical thinking and reading on the side to understand, but it's very interesting insight.
Just an additional note, if you're buying it for the purpose I did, think of it like reading a book explaining tarot. It has about the same format.

Though I've never read any other translation of the I Ching this one seems to be one of the best considering its popularity. I really like the content and it's not a difficult read, though it's not a light one either.

I visit this on line, I would prefer an illustrated hard cover book of the artwork and interpretation that is on the astrological website I have for free on line, but having this gives me the option for research.

This is a profound work incorporating philosophy, psychology and divination--and ancient oracle, about 3,000 years old, and one of the five classics of Confucious. I have been using it for 45 years, thought I had lost it somehow, bought this copy, then found my copy to my unceasing joy.

The I Ching by Wilhelm/Baynes translation is great. I bought the digital Kindle edition to complement the hard cover version I've had for 30 years. It's nice to have this book in my library on such a compact and portable device.

This ink used in the printing of this book stinks to high heaven. The odor actually reminded me of Raid, made me feel ill, and took months to dissipate. The ink is also very light and difficult to read. This is actually the best version of the I Ching itself, but whoever is printing these copies is doing a horrendous job. Look elsewhere.

The Wilhelm/Baynes translation of the venerable I CHING in the the store Kindle edition is an over-priced turkey. Ineptly designed & impossible to use.
Not read page by page, the I CHING isn't a textbook. It's a Spiritual Resource of the highest order - accessed by operations of "time & chance" & used to gain greater understanding of real-life situations.
It's got to WORK!
And THE KINDLE EDITION just DOESN'T WORK!
You have to have easy & ready access to the hexagrams cast when consulting The Oracle. It's pretty much impossible to do that with the digital version. The links don't effectively link. You have to chase them around to find the appropriate hexagrams... if you can.
And that makes the digital version useless.
So, add some pennies to the over-priced POS Kindle edition of this amazing & life-enhancing tome & get the hard-copy book itself.
Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
(By the way, the store Digital Services & Princeton University Press, I want my money back!)

The perfect version of the perfect translation of one of the foundations of human consciousness. Should be at everyone's arm's reach at all times. This is the bedrock. If you do not have this in your library (or if you have not spent suffient time with it) you must get it.

I love the book BUT, HOWEVER, I must have ordered the wrong one. I wanted the Original Used form Translation by C G Jung which is in old world language. So maybe I will have to order it as well to compare what happens in translating to English.

Very poorly arranged with no index to help find the appropriate casting hexigram. The very, very detailed commentaries are obscure and can be poured over for hours to figure out what the hexagram actually is tell one. Perhaps its the American in me to want instant gratification which this book does not offer. In any case, there are better commentaries out there.
