I really looked forward to reading this book as I am a huge fan of ATLF. I enjoyed the recipes (especially the story and recipe for Eivin’s cat poop cookies) but was very disappointed in that it seemed in their side stories there was an air of preachiness about “food ethics.” While I do grow an increasing portion of our food in a garden and orchard and agree that sustainability and responsible land management are desirable I do not need to be reminded about it every chapter. IMHO this detracts from an otherwise delightful book.

Really wanted this for Christmas. So excited that I received it from my husband. Love all the recipes that are included. Even the extra safety tips. my favorite part of the cookbook though is actually the stories and the pictures. If they made a second cookbook I would really love to see more of Eve's canning recipes as well as gardening tips and information so that I may grow more of my own food like she does.

This is an amazing book. The Kilcher's are truely one with their environment. gathering, growing, and preparing all the different foods that grow wild around them. I'm very impressed with Eve an Elvin.
