I have been interested in Sarah Kay for 2 years now. In a speech class, we were shown her TED speech and I was hooked. This book is great fun to read out loud to people that may be new to poetry. Keep up the great work.

I am an avid fan of Sarah's spoken word performances. The moment I heard she was publishing a collection there was no hesitation. Her publication is a rollercoaster that carried me from cover to cover. Magnificent work.

Sarah Kay's poetry is magical. She pours her heart and soul into her poems, and while devoured best live, this book fills in for the moments and locations where this is not possible. She is an incredible poet and performer. I've been lucky to have seen her live multiple times, and am left wanting more every single time. This book is an extremely gift from her to every fan who wants to go back and revisit her beautiful work. Highly recommend it's an absolute steal. Also great for gifting!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. The way she tells her stories is so inspiring. A great modern poet who really knows how to use objects, places, and things to capture moments, feelings, and experiences. You will not be disappointed.

I am not the type of reader who usually gives 1 star to books, but I couldn't help with this book. It is really bad, with all due respect to the author. To be honest, I don't know Sarah Kay. And this book was recommended by the store based on my poetry books purchases. Also, I really liked the cover.
The thing I don't understand about this book that it is not poetry, it is more of a diary. So many irrelevant personal stories were shared by the author in this book that made it impossible for me to relate while reading. I couldn't feel a thing. The only thing I felt is being bored.
I did enjoy one or two poems though. The rest was a complete bleh.

This was such a fantastic collection of poetry. Unlike many of the other reviewers, I actually have never listened to Sarah Kay, and wasn't aware of who she was before this book. The reason I bought this book was because it was a sort of memoir written in verse form, which I thought was really interesting.

Reading through it, I was amazed by the brilliance of her work. The way she emotes things with words, the way she spins them and puts them in verses that look and sound so good. SO GOOD. The way she takes mundane, every day tasks, moments and experiences, and conveys them in poetry is so powerful, and the impact so strong. I enjoyed every single poem very much, and was dog-earring almost every page for future reference.

Highly recommend it to all lovers of poetry, but even those who don't usually enjoy reading poetry, I guarantee you'll enjoy reading this one.

As a poet and short story writer (The Shadow of a Dog I Can't Forget & Squinting Over Water), I found this book to be a new beginning to making poetry more relevant and vibrant in people's lives. Thank you Sarah Kay for bringing me back to NYC in my 20's, seeing the city's underbelly like you have in so many of these amazing poems. I especially loved The Toothbrush To The Bicycle Tire as the poem's narrator hopes against the foolish sound advice of others that a lover will ultimately choose to stay with her.
And I loved the Mini Storage Billboard that read: Raising a baby in NYC is like growing an oak tree in a thimble. You see the world the way I do, Sarah, and the way I would like to think great writers do. Thank you for making all our messy lives beautiful, beloved, gracious with many more stories to tell...

Sarah Kay's debut book is stunning...it is filled with dozens of thoughtful and insightful poems written over many years. She has a strong and unique voice and has a way of telling you what you're feeling even when you yourself aren't sure.
I'm not particularly into poetry, but I saw Sarah perform recently and her performance left me wanting more. This is certainly worth it, especially if you're a fan of her youtube videos. I highly recommend this book!

“No Matter The Wreckage” is everything I want from a book of poetry. For me poetry should take you to familiar places and allow you see them in a new light or it should take you to places you have never been and make them seem familiar enough that they becomes a part of you. “No Matter the Wreckage” is beautifully written and passed all my expectations.

I was a bit apprehensive about reading this book, I have seen Sarah Kay on Def Poetry (HBO), Ted Talks and on Youtube. I thought that after seeing the poet perform her poems with the passion she had for them, that they might seem, somehow, “less” if I was reading them. That proved to be a silly thought.

I not only recommend this book, I also recommend looking up Sarah Kay on Youtube, Ted Talks and Def Poetry, which had many great poets on it (Netflix on disc).

I've seen Sarah Kay live three times, and i have watched her videos on youtube countless times. And even though nothing is better than seeing her live, this collection of poetry is amazing. Her poems are beautiful, funny, sometimes heartbreaking, but always relatable. Ive read through this book many times over the past 4 years, and I always find something new that resonates with me. Highly recommend it.

She'll be a wonderful poet someday, her talent is clear. But she's a kid now and that day is not today. Who rushed her to write a book and publish it? Let her write and practice and grow and live. These poems are meant for an English class or her friends, they are a great beginning of a new work in progress, not for others to read... I have read poems by 14 year old kids that blow you away. They are not in this book. But not everyone peaks at 14... She has a lot of talent and with some life experience she'll find a voice she naturally doesn't have yet.

This book is a masterpiece of human emotion explored through language. Miss Kay is an excellent writer mature beyond her years, with a talent and graceful writing style that connects audiences. These poems are solid and meaningful enough to resonate with any reader, regardless of age, gender or background. What a gift to the world of poetry.

Sarah Kay was already one of my favorite contemporary poets before reading this book. Having read it, she's solidified herself on that list and might be on top of it, now.

I can't put it all into words, but for anyone who's read or listened to any of her work, you know what to expect in this collection. Kay doesn't disappoint.

I have been a huge Sarah Kay fan for years, and having the poems that I've seen performed along with a whole new set of poems was amazing. Her words have always been moving and emotional. I find myself constantly rereading my favorites long after I've finished the collection. Though it of course does not compare to seeing her live, I cannot overstate how much this book means to me.

Bought this book so I can have a copy of Postcards. A bunch of really good poems came with it. Read it overnight once I received my copy from the mail. Can't wait for Sarah Kay to do a world tour so I can have this copy signed. But for now, youtube!

I really struggle with finding poetry books interesting, always have. If you have been drawn to Sarah Kay through her TED talk and viral videos, I hope you find this book exciting! But if you are new to reading poetry, beware. Its a very different experience, and personally, I will stick to her performances.

Absolutely stunning collection. Sarah Kay writes poetry in a way I think most poets strive for- full of heart and honesty but with a mastery over the words that comes across as effortless. Definitely a new favorite!
