I went into this book completely blind, but I trusted the person who recommend it. I was engrossed from the very first chapter. the Mystery behind the veil kept me guessing. I enjoyed our young protagonist, and couldn't get enough. Can't wait to read the next book. Excellent first book in a series.

Nice character development and coming of age story. Original world building although plot line a bit predictable but the story writing makes up for it. A few editorial typos in kindle version, didn't take away from the story (for me at least). Worth the read, but be prepared to read the whole series...

Why did I wait so long to read this? Wow! Ever since I saw the covers, I've been dying to read this series, and I wasn't disappointed. St Clare weaves together a unique and believable world of magic, excitement, and heartbreak. This is truly one of my favorite fantasy reads in a long time. There is a cliffhanger at the end, and I can hardly wait to get into book 2 and see where the story goes. Right from the start, I became immersed in the world and truly felt for Olina, and all that she had to suffer. The story is well-written and edited. A truly original and engaging YA fantasy book!!!

While I admit this is not usually my type of book, I loved this book! It had me hooked and wanting more! Olina is a strong character and has been hiding behind a veil all her life. I love how the characters develop throughout the book! I am going to purchase the next book and start reading right away!

Top notch Fantasy-Fiction!

The author pulls you into this fantasy by painting vivid details of her world with captivating detail. You can picture the scenes in your mind's eye.
I really enjoyed the use of first person narration.
The protagonist, Olina, wears a veil which limits her gaze and definitely creates intrigue. Her strong character is developed nicely and the writing is superb and stirring; the author can definitely evoke emotion. I was drawn in by realistic imagery, action and character interaction. As the tale unwound the book became harder and harder to put down.

This epic and treacherous journey is gripping and worth the price of admission.
Highly recommended--I really did enjoy it.

I actually googled 'Good book review quotes' because I wanted to write something that seemed legitimate and not over the top but the truth is that Fantasy of Frost is all the things said in every good review: couldn't put it down; original; unpredictable twists; great characters; easy to read; amazing imagery: highly recommended; page turner; etc etc etc.

OMG, OMG, OMG! That's how many times, I said that out loud while reading. Can't say anything without including spoilers, but read it and you will see what I mean. I love an unpredictable story and now I am wondering how long I have to wait until the next one!

What a breath of fresh air, to stumble upon an entirely new form of fantasy world, in a debut novel. Fantasy of Frost leaves you wanting more. This new world of fantasy inspires me to draw what it may look like from afar.
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters throughout the novel. While some of them were initially scary, you cannot help but be drawn into their growth and their relationships with the main protagonist, Olina, a mysterious young woman with a rather disturbing history, but with the strength to defy all her oppressors.
I cannot wait to read more of Olina's trials and adventures.

Good fantasy. Interesting characters, unique setting, and intriguing mysteries. The story unfolded in a way where I didn't feel like skipping ahead to get good part, but I also did not want to put it down. Fun read!

Stop browsing and download this book immediately!

Fantasy/paranormal romance/urban fantasy is my genre of choice and having read hundreds, perhaps thousands, of books, it's not often one truly stands out from the rest. But the Tainted Accords series has done just that.
The worlds are intriguing, the characters even more so and the action is non stop. Many books claim to have a strong heroine, but Olina puts them to shame. You won't be able to put this book down! I can't wait to see how things play out!

I would like to do 4.5 stars, but that is not an option. My only reason for 1 less star that perfect, is the slow start to the book. I will admit I almost put it down several times in the beginning, but I'm no quitter. Once we get over the hump in the first few chapters, it is a beautiful and riveting story. If you are reading this to determine whether to start it or not, it is well worth it.
Since I've read through, to the third book now, I can also relay that there is never another dull moment....i haven't *wanted* to put my kindle down all weekend. 2nd and 3rd books are even better than the first. Onto number 4 now!

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to author Kelly St. Clare.)

“Do you choose to wear that veil?” he asks, turning back to me.
I shake my head, and suddenly Kedrick is boiling mad. “Your mother is one sick, twisted bitch.”

This was a really stunning YA fantasy novel, leaving me highly anticipating the next instalment!

“You can’t be saying that you’ve never seen your own face,” he says. My silence is confirmation enough.

I really liked the characters in this book, and I felt so sorry for Olina. The way her mother had treated her was truly disgusting, to have never seen your own face, to be forced to veil yourself from everyone, and to also receive regular beatings at your own mother’s command is really shocking. I was really glad that Olina had managed to find love with Prince Kedrick, and I really wanted them to be allowed to be together.

“What happened?” The question barely disturbs the air, it is so quiet.
“I was being followed everywhere. They were on her before I could do anything. They slit her throat and made me watch her die.”

The world-building in this was really good, and I liked that things were explained so simply, without the use of info-dumps. I sometimes get confused by fantasy novels, but I didn’t have that problem at all with Fantasy of Frost.

“When you get married you lose the ‘O’ at the front of your name,” I say. “So when I marry. My name will go from Olina, to Lina.” I try to imagine getting married and Kedrick pops into my mind.

The storyline in this was done really well, and I even appreciated the heart-breaking moments. I felt really scared and upset for Olina at times, and I just couldn’t stop reading!

“Do not test me. Your life is forfeit if I so much as detect you have twitched your veil without my permission,”

There was some romance, and I liked it, but I was very saddened by the way this romance was brought to an end. It was just so, so sad!

“I would be more than your friend.” He steps up to me and grabs my other elbow, bringing me to face him. I place both hands on his chest to steady myself, speechless. He tilts my chin upwards, leans his head down and kisses me thorough the veil. The heat of his skin reaches mine. The veil moulds to my lips and I taste the salt of my sweat. The friction causes tingles to spread through my body all the way to my toes. “I love you,” he says.

The ending to this was a little surprising, and we were left with a bit of cliff-hanger. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for the next instalment of this thrilling tale!

Olina has a secret, one she has been hiding for a long time, only thing is, she has no idea what it is. Treated poorly her whole life by her mother, she doesn't know love...until she finds it with the most unlikely hero, Kedrick - from another planet.

Olina is put through many trials and tribulations when everything turns pear shaped around her 18th birthday. She must find her way on a new planet, hiding from her vindictive mother and discovering the truth of the secret she had been forced to keep for so long.

Kelly St Clare has created a world so full of suspense and emotion, one easy to follow and what a creative mind this woman has! I especially love the complexity of the worlds she has created. I am looking forward to reading more from her

I expected another boring fantasy about a princess and got....well, another world. Literally. Two other planets, seasons that set the world on fire, two separate civilizations that don't always get along. Two COMPLETELY different societies, with their own morality and beliefs and beliefs about gender and strength. Olina is a little too perfect, but the rest of the story makes up for it.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this series. Sometimes, I feel like I have to prepare myself to be underwhelmed by the Kindle Unlimited offerings. This series definitely exceeded my expectations. I found myself thinking that this was very similar to the Throne of Glass series - a girl has an evil queen mom; she makes friends in unlikely places; she has more than one love interest; her trainer has secrets of his own; frenemies band together to defeat evil. This series is more condensed and doesn't include magical people, but I think it is still enjoyable for the person who usually reads paranormal romance. It's definitely great for the fantasy romance reader.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It's not often you read a book and think to yourself, 'Well, I've never seen THAT done before', but Kelly St Clare's debut novel has made me do just that. In a really, really good way.

I've read a bit of high fantasy in my time, but I can honestly say I've never come across a setting involving two worlds, one stiflingly hot and the other icy cold, rotating around each other to create a habitable area only where the two worlds are closest. Such a simple idea, but so clever and original and Kelly St Clare takes the idea and runs with it, weaving a story full of intrigue and politics but also plenty of characterisation and humour.

Olina is the Tatuma - the first in line to the throne - of Osolis, the hot world. She lives in a migratory court (because you've got to stay fairly close to the cold world at all times. See?) with her mother (evil), uncle (evil) and brothers (nice-ish) and despite the poor treatment she receives manages to retain some spirit and humour. When her secret fiance, a prince from the ice world of Glacium, is killed in front of her she becomes the prime suspect and is whisked away as a hostage to Glacium.

Olina was a really interesting protagonist. She came across as brave, but also aware of her own limitations, which is something you don't see too often. As part of the cruel treatment she receives from her rotten mother, she is forced to wear a veil to hide her from the rest of the world and, like any prisoner, over time she has come to rely on it to the point where she is now too afraid to go without it.

Over the course of the book, I found myself constantly going, 'But why a veil?' Because surely if her mother wanted to mistreat her, she could have given her a beating, disowned her, killed her even. So why the veil? Was she super-ugly? Super beautiful? And then, right at the end, the real reason for the veil gets revealed and it's like, 'Nice one. Totally didn't see that coming.'

Kelly St Clare does a good job of marking out the differences between the societies on the two planets and the geopolitical difficulties they face, but hasn't equally she didn't do the scenario to death and she's left herself plenty of room for new developments and revelations in her subsequent books. I'll certainly be looking out for them.

Oh how I felt for Olina, hated her mother and wished for a better life for her. Despite everything she has been through Olina is a caring person, much stronger than I thought she would be. It was a good read.

I ran across this book completely by chance while browsing on the store and I'm so glad I found it. There was a lot of worldbuilding to pay attention to in the beginning, but once I picked up on how things worked the story flowed from there. I finished it in a day and immediately picked up the next book.

Read this series. I have read the first two books and was greatly impressed. Strong female lead and good character development. The plot keeps moving as a swift pace and makes putting the books down difficult. I think I read them in two days. This is a series to read again.

Absolutely loved it! St Clare has a great ability to draw the reader in and continue to hold them until the very last word of the book and leave them wanting more.
The main character, Olina, is a massive bad-ass!

Two intriguing worlds, good characters and an interesting plot make this a reasonable read.

I am obsessed. I want to go back and reread it because I am sure that I have missed details and nuances in the story. St Clare is a master at the perfect amount of action, intrigue, humor, and heart. I want to be Olina's best friend and root for her. I enjoyed the world that the author created (although I'm not sure I would personally want to live in it :) ). I enjoyed each character too because of what they brought to the story and how they all interacted.

As I try to think of reasons, without giving away too much, I just keep going back to the ferocity in which this book clutched me and took me for the journey. Definitely a fan for life!
