Wow. Alice Ward had written another story that will suck you in and won't let go. Atlee is a young lawyer, wanting to save the world. Wyatt is the new CEO of his family's multi million dollar company, that produces environmentally unsafe products. Do you see where I am going with this?
That's right, Atlee is out to prove that Wyatt should change his company, if only she knew that it was his mission too.
And the tears will flow
I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC. Now I am going to buy it, the story was so good.

As always with Ms. Ward this book will grab your attention from the very first page and hold it until the very end. The main characters are absolutely remarkable, and I felt that they were people I would like to know. Their story was both antagonistic and romantic along with the horrible danger they faced together. Her wonderful writing brought the characters to life and held my attention until the very last word. (I took a deep breath at the end!)

Disgruntled with her lack of advance in her job, Atlee quits and decides to work more on her save the planet type blog. Wyatt is trying to change the way his company is abusing the natural resources. Both come together in a wild, adventurous, scary and sometimes passion filled trip. But will they ever see eye to eye about what really matters? Or will this trip cause more harm than good? With great characters and a storyline that had more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, Alice Ward once again writes a wonderful story.

This book should be called The Treat because that is what you are in for.

Not only will you go all over emotionally, you will enjoy some witty banter, unique characters who at times you will have a love/hate relationship with, suspense, plenty of steam and a storyline that gets better and better the more you turn them pages.

Alice is going to make sure you laugh, feel good and have a good time. With that being said, grab your copy today.

I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

This was such a great book that had me hooked from the beginning and kept me hooked. Wyatt and Atlee are like water and vinegar. Atlee butts heads with Wyatt every chance she gets. I wanted to smack her a few times during the book. I understand where she was coming from, but she wouldn’t let up even when she finds out Wyatt wants to change things. They have intense chemistry and undeniable attraction towards each other. There is suspense and a cute orangutan. Alice did a wonderful job with the storyline and characters.

Overall good new story by the author, nice storyline and smooth flow. The characters are believable and enjoyable. The heroine at times seems to act a bit immature and that was my only issue when it came to the book. When a heroine whines or appears immature it is a downer to me and then makes the story a bit more difficult for me to read. However I still finished the story and did enjoy it for the most part and I’m sure many will love it unfortunately even though I liked it it just wasn’t my favorite.

I wanted to love this story as it had such potential and I really like other books by Alice Ward but I really disliked Atlee to the point I would skim read some of her, Wyatt was great and deserved someone better than Atlee. She was just a bit too spacey and erratic for me and seriously who would drive off and leave someone in the middle of nowhere!! There was some good suspense and banter that helped keep me interested in reading so I suggest this is more a book to fill in an afternoon.

This book was hotter than the desert sun and had a phenomenal story-line that was unique and although the characters, Atlee and Wyatt, were on opposite ends of the fence in their beliefs I found their relationship very interesting. I doubt that anyone who read this book would really like Atlee's character, but all I know is that everything about this book made it a five star read for me. I definitely recommend it because it is that good. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

This book was so entertaining. Atlee , the woman who is all about saving the world and it's environment and Wyatt, the CEO of a company that is the complete opposite of Atlee's view. They land up meeting in Mayalasia and needless to say what happens is so unbelievable. The sparks between them fly and they land up getting lost and abandoned in the forest. They have to run for their lives but the heat, as the name of the book, is so intense. I would highly recommend this book.

Another great story by Alice Ward. She once again brings an interesting and intriguing story filled with drama and danger as well as humor and romance. The characters are strong and well developed and the story moves quickly and fluidly.I loved the bantering between Atlee and Wyatt and loved reading from both perspectives. It's an entertaining book and I loved reading it.

This one was a tough one to rate because I have mixed feelings about the story and can't recall the last time one character annoyed the heck out of me as much as Atlee. If I were to rate this book solely on Atlee, it would be a 1. But Wyatt was a 4-5. The stellar writing style is filled with excellent scene building and the balance of action and emotions was up there on the scale as well. In the end, I'm going with somewhere closer to middle ground, rounding up.

The characters and their personalities...
Atlee Young is an attorney working her way up at a law firm with the hopes of becoming partner. She's an asset to the firm and reminds herself of that - repeatedly. She thinks it's her youthful appearance that limits her. But when she finally builds up enough courage to ask for a promotion to an associate attorney position, she's shot down by the partner and told she's too emotionally driven. In the heat of the moment - and holding back the desire to cry - she quits. She then spends time in her apartment, crying about her spur of the moment decision and lack of opportunity at other firms. After a series of failed employment inquiries, her friend suggests capitalizing on her vblog (focusing on the environment and healthy living) as a career. With that idea in mind, she banks everything she has on a spur of the moment trip to Malaysia where an environmental summit is scheduled to take place in hopes of cornering Wyatt Watts, the CEO of the company she hates with a bitter passion, to get that exclusive interview.

Wyatt is the newly appointed CEO of his father's company, WE. He wants to make a change and attempts to approach the stuffy board with suggestions. Stuck on how to stress the importance of needed change, he decides to attend the summit in hopes of establishing a plan to make his company more "green" in their production and product lines. There, he's confronted - camera shoved in face - by the spitfire he comes to know as Atlee.

Their relationship is driven by passion. Atlee hates Wyatt because of what he represents. And, as with the other parts of her life, she is extreme in her thinking. In her hate-filled blur of emotions, she refuses to listen or accept that he truly is trying to make a change. She's too busy pushing her beliefs and ideology to an extreme. As she seems to do with anyone who goes against her thinking. And honestly, it grated on me. Badly. Wyatt is making an effort but she's not even willing to entertain the idea. When he realizes this, he decides to use that to spike that anger in her (a turn-on for him). Which gets her even more emotional. e.g. He knows she's a vegan, but orders her a nearly raw steak for dinner. It became childish. They then decide to tour one of his company's plantations. They encounter many obstacles, and Atlee continues to be hardheaded and emotional. Even when their lives are at stake. Even when Wyatt saves her and has her well-being in mind. She's still hotheaded and selfish.

There are so many moving parts in this story, it's no wonder I was left with tons of questions in the end. And while some were addressed in the epilogue, many were not. Issues such as ISIS, child labor, and sex trafficking where brought up and became key storyline elements, but I didn't feel they were addressed enough in the closing considering the amount of focus within the development. And while I appreciate the attention being directed to social issues, the delivery of the message often blurred with Atlee's misguided emotional and forceful attempts. All she did was annoy me and distract from the important nature of the message.

This story didn't flow, at all, like the author's other stories I've read. Even the jump to their first sexual encounter seemed awkward and ill-timed. Something that has never happened for me with this author's books. I was annoyed for the better part of the story and felt Atlee was the source of my constant anger and eyerolling while Wyatt did his best to soothe things. Even nearing the end, he's doing everything he can and she's still fighting and pitching temper tantrums. It became exhausting and I just wanted to finish.

The epilogue wrapped up a few things and tried to show how the constant bickering between them works in their relationship. And maybe it does for them in this story and it might work for you if you enjoy this type of read and that type of character. But I just didn't feel that connection between the characters. And I know it's because of my strong dislike for Atlee. Because I loved everything Wyatt did to change the company but that excitement dulled when Atlee appeared on page again.

/I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. This did not affect my opinion of the book or content of my review./

** spoiler alert ** Atlee has always been an act first, think later type of woman. Wyatt has always been referred to as a playboy billionaire. They're supposed to be on opposing sides, but can they work together? Will they make it out alive when trouble finds them?

Loved the steam between these two! I have to admit that at times I wanted to ring Atlee's neck, but I loved her dedication. I loved how despite Wyatt's status, he really wanted to make changes! Great read!

I love the banter between Atlee and Wyatt. He has taken over the family business with a bad rep. as environmentally regressive, and she works for the company as a lawyer and has a blog on the environment and how to protect it. When these characters meet at a conference in Malaysia, things start to heat up between them. There is drama, passion, and laughter in this great storyline, and the characters are well developed. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this ARC.

Try not to singe the finger tips, because Atlee and Wyatt certainly know how to bring the heat. ;) They have opposites world views, but once they figure their stuff out, the absolute perfection together. I find both characters engaging and their romance to be true. Steamy, but also lovely with a lot of heart. I highly recommend this romance. I first read it as an advance reader copy, but just had to have a forever copy for myself. Wonderful writing all around. All the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

This is a fun romance that blends some very important issues into a well written storyline. Wyatt and Atlee's story is passionate, emotional and suspenseful. I really liked Wyatt, he came across as a very good guy with the best of intensions. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of Atlee. For her age and her profession I expected more maturity from the character. Other than not feeling a connection with the heroine, I enjoyed the book. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Not my favorite. I love Alice Ward but I just found the Atlee character hard to like. I did like her at first then she got whine and I found myself not wanting to read more about her bad decisions and I was telling the hero to run away! Towards the end I soften a bit more but I just couldn't get over some of her flaws. I did finish the book, but I actually started another during this read. Alice always delivers on the steamy scenes so I will be watching for what comes next, but this was not a great read in my book.

Once again we have a great story from Alice Ward. I love how she give us romance, yes, but also an actual good story that goes along with it. The heat/chemistry between these two characters (Wyatt and Atlee) is off the charts. I always seem to like the romance books where there is a love/hate relationship. Anyway, as I was saying, this also has a story and I was biting my nails through some of it. Not to worry...it does have a happily ever after.

Atlee and Wyatt have a love story that is so hot it could burn you. This book is something worth burning for.

Alice Ward wrote another best seller here.  The story keeps you at the edge of your seat.  I was sweating bullets.  Atlee is a lawyer who quit her job and is on her way to Malaysia.  Wyatt is a billionaire who just took over his father's company and is his way to Malaysia to a conference.  He owns a palm oil plantation but never knew what type of distraction was happening.  The difficult times that they go though is very harrowing.

Whoever said opposites attract hit the nail in store he head with Atlee and Wyatt. The thought of an environmental lawyer and the CEO of a company currently destroying rainforests getting together would make most people laugh out loud. But through tragedy and the most desperate situations they are able to see the real person underneath and make it work. They changed for each other and discovered what true love is all about. Highly recommend this book, Alice has done it again!

I really liked this book. Lots of humor, action, and steam. I really liked Wyatt from the start but Atlee not so much. She was always leaping before she looked and expecting more than she should. As an environmental lawyer, you would think she would be a little more research before hostilely confronting someone. But other than that, a great read and I would definitely recommend.

I read an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

It's hard to like a story when you really really dislike the heroine. Atlee is an irrational sanctimonious 'environmentalist' that thinks that anyone that even says a disparaging word about the environment is the devil. She automatically hates you and would spit on you and call you a scumbag - & probably worse- at first sight. Nice, right?
She's the worst. I just couldnt take it. I could not enjoy the story at all.

I love reading Alice Ward’s book. This book was such an emotional experience. Altee and Wyatt’s have love/hate relationship. I loved how they could get a rise out of each other with only the simplest of words. It was so emotional towards the end of the book and I was sitting on the edge of my seat to see how it would end. The Heat was just an ok story for me. Usually I love all of Alice Wards stories, this one just didn’t do it for me. I started off really not liking Atlee. It made me take longer to get through the book because I just couldn’t stomach the way she would act. But the story did get better and Atlee finally started to grow on me. There were some inconsistencies with Wyatt’s Dad, I read once that he died but then he was alive at the end. Just something minor that should be corrected. Overall this story was ok, nothing too negative but nothing that’ll really stand out for me when I think back to this story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book. Wyatt became CEO of his father's company when he retired. Atlee was a protestor of Wyatt's company and any others like it. Unfortunately to me this was a story within a story, there should have been two separate stories because neither one was finished. The first one was about a CEO of a company he was trying to save and the second one was about a terrorist group in a jungle in Malaysia where Wyatt and Atlee ended up. This was one of the most confusing stories I have ever read and never felt like either one was ended, finished the book more confused than when I started.

HOT, HOT, HOT, to say the least. I loved this book. It was so good. Wyatt was a realistic, yummy, delicious dream, who understood that the world could not be changed with the snap of his fingers. Atlee was a sincere environmentalist who impulsively jumped almost everywhere before looking. Wow, together they could accomplish so much. Getting them truly together was the tricky part. That made the book full of humor and laughs, serious danger, evil situations, high ideals, total surprises, bickering--lots and lots of bickering, and mind blowing, tantalizing heat. What a great story. To miss it would really be a shame.

Atlee had graduated high school at 17. After three years at Columbia Law, in the top ten percent of her class, while clerking at Stapleton, Stapleton & Foster, she passed the bar exam on her first try. She felt she was a superior asset to the firm. It had been six months since she passed the bar and she wanted to be promoted to associate attorney with the firm. Her boss, Mr. Stapleton, hadn't agreed with her. In his opinion, she was just too emotional to be a lead attorney, even though he thought she was an asset to the firm. When Atlee couldn't change his mind, she quit on the spot.
Wyatt had been raised to eventually take over as CEO of Watts Enterprises or WE. He'd know what his job would be from an early age and continued to work up through the company until his father was ready to hand over the reigns. In the meantime, he was considered a known playboy who was never seen with the same woman twice. He and his best friend were about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime backpacking through the Australian Outback when his father had a heart attack and had to retire, leaving Wyatt as the new CEO.
Although there are side characters that will make an appearance here or there, these two will take you through a journey from New York to Malaysia in true Alice Ward style with a plethora of emotion and passion. You won't want to miss this one!

Atlee is a young attorney working for a prestigious firm. She may be sharp, detailed and focused but feels undervalued so she pushes the envelope with her boss. For a “smart” person, this is a rookie move as she discovers on her way out of the building, with her personal items in tow.

A month later, she has is still out of work with no prospects in sight and she is low on cash. That’s when she has another “brilliant idea”. Desperation and passion inspires her to take down the head of a major company....that and the possibility of cashing in on her vlog by confronting and humiliating the man. Remember, she thinks his priorities are in question!

And for me this is where it really falls apart. Atlee has a “savior” attitude and a teenager’s mentality. She jumps in to crush a man who she knows very little about, with the exception of his company title. She continues to show poor judgement which leads to more childish outbursts and finger pointing. Honestly, I don’t know why the man tolerated her at all!

A major portion of the book is devoted to her arrogance, hostility and self-centered desires then there is a sudden shift and the story takes on meaning and purpose amidst great obstacles and danger. Unfortunately the shift occurs about 70% into the story.

There is a five star story in here but it is diluted to a two and a half star rating because her childish, self-centered behavior just worm me out. That and endless pages of detailed “encounters”...sometimes less is more and this is a good example.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I am sorry to say, this one did not hold up to Ward’s previous works. I found this one lacking in so many areas and I know she is capable of better.

Atlee is an environmental lawyer, and has a blog on YouTube espousing her save-the-planet and vegan beliefs. Wyatt just took over the family company from his father. After a month as CEO he knows the company needs to update or die, including the perceptions of the company in their palm oil extractions in Malaysia.

Atlee has worked her tail off at her current company and is ready for the next step in her career, when told she is too emotional and needed in research, she quits. Her efforts to grow her blog send her to Malaysia to confront Wyatt at a conference. Wyatt has already made plans to make many changes Atlee demands, but he cannot resist yanking her chain and embarrassing her with advances.

When he finally lets her know his plans things heat up between them resulting in a kiss:
She let out a soft moan that nearly unraveled me, pushing me forever past the point of no return.
And she gave as good as she got. Little Miss Atlee Young, defender of the planet, was a heck of a kisser.

A trip to the plantations to check out conditions (after getting a superficial planned tour) results in their being stranded and worse. The inconvenience of heat, thirst, rain and leeches quickly escalates into life-threatening danger.

Full of danger, intrigue, humor and sexy romance all while saving the planet, then having to save themselves.

This book is typical Alice Ward. It is definitely full of heat but it also brings a strong message with it. Not only a message but also takes you through the gamut of emotions. Atlee will make you laugh because she is kind of quirky, she will make you cry because she will make you aware of the evils in this world and she will show you some of the good in our world. I absolutely loved it.
Atlee graduated top of her law class, passed the bar the first time and is still working for the law firm she was interning with. Well till she was told there was no opening for an associate position.

Wyatt has put his trip on hold indefinitely Ashe is now in control of the family business after his dad ended up in the hospital. He wants to make so many changes that will cost money but in the long run will put them back at the top.

She’s an environmental lawyer and blogger and his company is the worst for being environmentally friendly. Little did they know that the big eco-friendly summit they are attending will change their lives in more ways than one.

This is another knockout hit from Ms Ward! But really did any of, her loyal readers, expect anything different from her!
I loved the characters of Atlee and Wyatt, even though at times I thought that Atlee needed to get her head out of the clouds. It was a captivating storyline and I was hooked pretty much from the very first paragraph. This story has so many aspects to it that made it one of her best books yet and it definitely brings the ?HEAT?
To me, this is another must read from this fantastic author!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This book totally shocked me. I didn't expect it to go the way it did and I loved it.
Atlee is an unemployed environmental lawyer working on her blog. She has an opportunity to confront one of the biggest company's that is destroying the rainforest in Malaysia. With little money left she packs her bags and heads out for the 23 hour flight.
Wyatt has just taken over his father's company. He's ready to make changes but the board is not having it. He decides to go to Malaysia where they get all of their palm oil used in their products. He has a feeling since his dad hasn't visited in years things are not being run they way they used to be.
I loved this book. I would definitely recommend everyone to read it.

I received this book for an honest review. What a fantastic read by Alice Ward. What happens when an environmental lawyer goes to an environmental summit in Malaysia to confront the CEO of WE Company whose products are harming the earth. Atlee and Wyatt are thrown together as he tries to explain that he wants to change his company's methods of producing products in a way to protect the environment. This story will draw you in as these two are faced with dangerous situations just to stay alive. At times Atlee gets on your nerves as she never listens and goes off before she stops and listens to the truth. As these two are forced to protect each other, you see how love is the biggest sacrifice one can make. This is a must read, and I highly recommend this book.

Atlee is an environmental lawyer and very passionately trying to save the Earth with her video blogs. There is a summit in Malaysia that is huge news for Atlee and she wants to confront the new CEO of The company WE there Wyatt Watts with an interview. When Wyatt took over as CEO from his father he has ideas of change that's why he is at the summit and to see the companies plantations. When he offers to take Atlee to one of the plantations to show her his plans of improvements everything all goes to hell. Their chemistry towards each other is so strong, they form such a strong bond when they are forced to protect each other lives and form a will to survive. Lots of twists and turns. A great story you won't be able to put it down. I recieved an ARC for this book.

Loved this book! If you loved The Island, you'll love The Heat as well, but beware, it has it's own unique twist on HEAT.
When environmental lawyer, Atlee, quits her job and decides to attend a Sustainable Palm Oil summit for her blog, she expects to hate the new CEO of WE. What she gets instead is an instant attraction to one HOT Wyatt. The attraction is mutual and he wants to show her that he plans to turn his company around now that he's taken over for his father. When Wyatt invites Atlee along for a surprise visit to a Palm Plantation that his company buys from, it should just be another drive in the jungle...right?..but things don't go as planned.

Atlee quits her job as an attorney when she doesn't get the promotion she wants. She chases after Wyatt and the verbal attacks begin. Wyatt tries to show her he is working to fix things with all he is doing but she isn't convinced. The first half of the book was all about the back and forth. The rest of the book was more action packed and I preferred this, but that's just my personal taste. I think you'll enjoy this book no matter what your preference in storylines!

Another show-stopper from the inimitable Ms. Ward. Definitely needed more than five stars, as usual! The sizzling intensity that leaps from every action-packed page is so commanding that you dare not let your attention stray for one second for fear of missing something vital. There is fiery chemistry and impassioned emotions as well as evil afoot. Thumbs-up to the exposure of the palm oil development crisis, nicely done! An adventurous race against time that I devoured every minute of and can highly recommend to anyone looking for a great storyline with a difference and quality writing.

This was a nice read. It started off witty and funny with Wyatt and Atlee fighting because they are on the opposite sides in Atlee's belief. It got dark and hot, really hot in the story and it was nice to see how it ended. It was sweet. Other than one inconsistency about Wyatt's dad and a to instead of too, the story was well written and edited.

I voluntarily received an ARC of this book and this is solely my own honest opinion.

Wow!! The Heat by Alice Ward is such a powerful and emotional rollercoaster with lots of heat, drama, danger and heartbreak. It made me laugh, cry, feel fear and my heart breaking. The storyline is welcome and the characters are fully engaged. On a trip to Malaysia Wyatt Watt, CEO of Watts Enterprise and Atlee Young, an environmental lawyer both clash from the beginning but the chemistry sizzles hot and bright. They both go thru a life changing adventure that keeps you captivated and on the edge of your seat. Definitely recommend this book. Grab it today!! I have voluntarily read this advanced readers copy. Five stars for it is so worth reading. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I voluntarily reviewed an arc. Well. Well. Well. A book with a conscience. Atlee, a newly minted attorney four months after passing the bar, is a total brat demanding her boss make her a junior associate although she hasn’t paid her dues. After acting like a four year old she quits. Wyatt is a playboy thrust into taking over his father’s company. First on his agenda is making the company more “green” and better for the environment. When Atlee and Wyatt come together the heat rises, although Atlee gives Wyatt one hell of a bad time. I really wanted to slap her around for her holier than thou attitude!! This book really brings the heat!

Wyatt Watts has held the title of CEO of his family’s company for about a month and is determined to change their image and invest in sustainable practices. Atlee Young is an environmental lawyer, who abruptly quit her job and decided to focus on her v-blog. Her target is the new CEO of WE. When the two meet, despite their seemingly opposing positions, there is an instant and undeniable chemistry. When a trip to see the plantations reality goes horribly wrong, the two find themselves in unimaginable circumstances, which drive them closer together. Very well written story with lots of suspenseful twists and turns. Fantastic story.

Atlee and Wyatt.
Atlee is all for sustainably and being a Vegan. Wyatt is a CEO of his father's business.
They instantly dislike each other but desire each other something fierce.
I loved this book and couldnt put it down. Atlee and Wyatt go to Malaysia and end up together after some men kidnap them.
Then they end up stranded out at sea. Will they survive and make it back home?

A book about falling in love when you dont expect it and trying to survive at sea with not much water and catching your own fish.

Passion, emotion, and good intent. Atlee wants the save the world, she has a passion for the environment and informing people. She doesnt feel appreciated at the law office she interned with so she broadens her horizons but it doesnt quite turn out as she planned. Wyatt is taking the reins, but he knows that changes need to be made. The story has adventure, sweet moments and at one point Atlee frustrated me. Very good story that made me emotional at the end. Good characters and story that really draws you in. I voluntarily read a copy of this book and really enjoyed it.

A good enemies to lovers story. Atlee has strong views on saving the world by taking on the "bad guy" corporations. Atlee & Wyatt are in Malaysia & end up going on an adventure - a dangerous one at that! If you want adventure, adrenaline rush, edge-of-your-seat excitement & feel the heat between Atlee & Wyatt, this novel has it all!

I’m... wow..... this book was freaking amazing. I can’t believe that.... just wow!! I’ve heard so much hype about this book and decided to give it a go and my god was I not at all disappointed. The heat was just that heat all through the book. There was a time there at the end where it was a touch and go but I’m glad that everything worked out and they had their HEA after all.

The female lead was annoying. Also, maybe my hate of politics and anyone who blindly follows an ideology to the point of screwing up their personal life got in the way, as I'm too practical. Anyway, 3 stars because there were funny parts and very well written.
