Really enjoyed this book. I read it on a 5 hour flight and couldn't put it down. I seriously loved finding a book that was well written, but was also clean enough for my 13 yr old to read it as she also likes mystery type books. It's hard to find mystery/murder/thriller books that are free of sex/language. I will be following this author and reading more of her books for sure!

Need a story to get lost in? Look no further. From the early 1900s to present day, Foster Hill House is a romance, a mystery, a joining of two times in history.
Ivy Thorpe finds a body hidden in a tree. A mystery unfolds, drawing her into danger and a murder. Who was the girl and what happened?
Kaine Prescott is running away from her past, a husband who had been murdered, and she charged as a crazy person for not believing his death was an accident.
With enough similarities in both girls’ lives, Foster Hill House will keep you reading to find out what happened in this moment in time where history intersects. A note in a book-All houses hold secrets, and I am one of them- draws Ivy and Kaine into searching for the dead girl’s identity, and psychological games will keep you turning the pages into the night.
Jaime Jo Wright’s The House on Foster Hill is a must read suspense. The cover is excellent and draws you right into the story.
I received a free copy from Net Galley in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

This is a fantastic read. It flows from present to the past smoothly. I was never confused as to what time period I was reading about. This has a lot of suspense and mystery in the story. I never quite knew what was going to happen next. I did not want to put this book down. I loved learning more about Ivy and Kaine. I received this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Full of suspense, romance, and a historical mystery to keep the pages turning, The House at Foster Hill is one for the keeper shelf! A dual-timeline kept me rooting for both the historical and contemporary characters, and I especially related to the contemporary heroine, Kaine.
I loved the way the spiritual element was woven into the story, not overly preachy, but very poignant. My favorite line in the entire novel was this: “She wanted that hope. To cling to God as Gabriella had. To hold Him so close that this world became an interlude before life truly began.”
A wonderful historical romantic suspense, perfect for fans of Colleen Coble!

I LOVED this book! There was so much to the story and it was so well written. I always enjoy stories that are twofold...present day and past...Jaime Jo Wright does it beautifully! I was lucky enough to be on Jaime's early reader team and have found yet another fabulous author to follow. Currently reading her second title in the series and can't wait for the 3rd.

It was good with great characters but the present day reveal was disappointing. I expected more from the novel than the obvious and clunkily thrown in villain. I really enjoyed how the author switched back and forth between the '60s with Ivy and the present day with Kaine. This back and forth was extremely interesting, captured your attention, and made you want to find out what happened next.

The House on Foster Hill was a good read. The past and present dual stories captured my attention from the beginning. Both stories were equally interesting, well-written, and with characters you want to become invested in. I had a difficult time putting this book down. This book is a Christian read, with subtle Christian messages, which I enjoyed.

This novel had me hooked from the very first page and I found the book nearly impossible to put down. With other mysteries, I can usually solve the case by the time I’m halfway through a book, but this one had me guessing up until the very end. The characters easily came to life and the two heroine’s stories were interwoven perfectly in a way that had me completely engrossed in their lives. The wording was so vivid that I could almost hear the creak of the floorboards and feel the icy rain coming down. The clear message of hope was very well written and never felt forced or unnatural in the storyline; while the suspense had me turning every page in anticipation. This was my first time reading a novel by Jaime Jo Wright and I’m eagerly waiting for her next one!

I could hardly put this book down once I stated reading it! It is full of mystery and interesting characters and it keeps you guessing all the way through. I like feeling like I'm a detective when I read mysteries and I certainly tried hard with this one, only to be surprised in the end! I'm always a little hesitant to try new authors because I'm super loyal to my favorites. However, many of them reviewed and recommended this book so I was hoping I would like it. Jamie Jo Wright is the newest addition to my "favorite authors" list. I LOVED The House on Foster Hill and am slightly sad that her next novel won't be out until July. I'll be ordering it, for sure!

This is a Christian mystery set in two separate time periods. Both stories center around the house on Foster Hill and with a gradual disclosure of the clues, the story merges into two interesting and connected endings. Very enjoyable mystery with a different spin on the cozy mystery genre.

When I requested this book I thought the author was one I read before, so I was excited to start it. Turns out I remembered a different author. This is Jamie Jo Wright's debut novel, but now I am a super fan. Clean, mysterious, kept me on my toes and wanting more. While I am a Christian, I rarely read Christian fiction. Perhaps that is why “The House on Foster Hill” did not resonate as well with me. I was looking for a story with a Christian message (or perhaps just a few references to Scripture) and instead found myself reading a suspense book with a mystery that was, unfortunately, all too easy to solve.
This story is set in two time periods, present and a little over a hundred years in the past. The setting, Foster Hill House, is the same; however, the characters are quite different. In the past, we have Ivy Thorpe who has turned away from God after her beloved brother has passed and she has immersed herself in remembrances of the dead. In the present, there is Kaine Prescott, a young woman who has also pulled back her belief after her husband's death.
In this, I would have liked to have seen a better redemption spiritually for each. Instead, the story is about solving the physical mysteries surrounding each situation. In and of itself, that would be fine; however, I found the constant back and forth to be very disconcerting while reading. Perhaps it is because there were similar situations for both women in the same location that made it more difficult to follow.
That I was looking for a more Christian message does not make a bearing on my review of the book. I rating is based on the confusion I felt with the format. As a new debut author, I think that Jaime Jo Wright has talent. I think that a more focused plot line and a smaller set of characters with a much tighter edit would be a goal for her in her next book. The suspense was there; it was just hidden under the multiple of plot points that made it hard to find for me.
I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

After finishing The House on Foster Hill, I was shocked to learn that this was Jamie Jo Wright's debut novel, I was ready to go and buy every book she has ever written. Jamie takes us on an adventure through two different periods of time connected by the house on Foster Hill. I instantly fell in love with all of the characters and found myself torn between wanting to drag out finishing the book, because I just did not want it to end, or needing to hurry and finish because I had to know what happened. This book is full of suspense and mystery that will keep you guessing until the very last page. Jamie Jo Wright is an author to watch and I am eagerly awaiting her next novel.

I have a new author to follow! This book has so many threads. It makes it fascinating. The darker tone is not too dark, but strong enough to pull the mystery along. I didn't want to put it down and I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to read another book by this new author and have this book on the top of my new favorite book's list.

This book caught my eye because of 1) the high ratings/positive comments in the reviews and 2) the author is from WI. I was born and raised in WI ... SO I had to read this book! The two parallel storylines kept my attention but I was much more engrossed in the 1906 storyline. What I took away from the book is: the resounding importance of hope, faith, and taking care of one another.

As I flipped through the pages, Jamie Jo Wright's novel made me think about the old Hitchcock movies, with it's unexpected twists and strong characters.
It's a well-crafted novel that manages to sweep you away with the riveting plot as you delve deeper into the book.
I read a lot of books, and I can say this one is one of my favorites.
Her next one comes out in the near future and I'll be purchasing that one as well.

Excellent book from a debut author.
This is a dual timeline book, which is a 50/50 shot for me. Wright included an excellent amount of each story line before switching time frames, which allowed me to be drawn into the story, and able to feel like both timelines were moving at a great pace. Wonderful, realistic mystery, and I will definitely pursue additional books by Wright.

A good debut book from this author. I like the way it was written giving equal time to the two timeframes. However, it did start off very slow for me, and I almost didn't finish it. Although the plot line was somewhat original, it was written poorly and slightly juvenile in style. For as large as the death of Kaine's husband played in the story, the way it was resolved was weak and was wrapped up too neatly, more like an afterthought. In terms of her Wisconsin stalker, it was unrealistic and just made zero sense. The only saving grace was that the author weaved God's hope and love throughout the book.

I loved this debut novel by Ms Wright. Well written. I enjoyed the way she wove the two stories into one. I normally am not a fan of time slip books, but this one really grabbed me. I highly recommend this book.

A great debut. She told a mesmerizing tale of mystery with no foul language or anything inappropriate. Some of the main characters have an understanding of and belief in God and Jesus. All combine to make Jaime Jo Wright a new favorite author of mine.

This was a good read and I was pleased and impressed that it came from a debut novelist. I wasn't as awed by it was many previous readers, but I will read more of this author's work if she continues to write.

Legit, this was a great book. I don't even really like reading, but I literally couldn't set it down. After I started I didn't get off the couch until I was done. The last time I read a book straight through was probably for a book report in high school the night before it was due.
I don't know how to describe books, but boy was this a good one. I can't wait for Jamie Jo Wright's next book - if it is even half as good as The House on Foster Hill I'll probably be writing a review saying I'm waiting for her third.
This story was phenomenal. 11/10 will read again.

While I don't always enjoy story lines that switch back and forth in time periods, In The House on Foster Hill it was one of my favorite parts. It was suspenseful and kept me guessing. I enjoyed it immensely.

I highly recommend this book. For a first novel, I think it is awesome. It goes back in history to present day. Human trafficking is involved, something I never thought about occurring at the turn of the century.

Well written book that will keep you reading this book. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what happened. I found the storyline captivating and found the main characters strong. I will look for more stories from Jamie No Wright.

I thought this book was very good, but I was irritated by all the references to God and faith. This seems more like a Christian type mystery and should have been described that way. Other than that, the twin stories were good, The characters were likable. Would have given it a 4 without the constant religious references.

This book was not at all what I thought it would be. I was hoping for a historical mystery, with lots of history and mystery! Instead it was mostly a romance novel. I'm not a fan of romance novels--especially ones that keep referencing touches, looks, biceps, cologne, etc. Added to that were random thoughts of God and Jesus right next to smoldering looks and gestures, so it kind of threw me off. And when the modern main character thought her boyfriend looked sexy when he helped capture her tormenter, I actually rolled my eyes. So if you like the romance genre mixed with Christian messages, this might be the book for you.

The House on Foster Hill is a great debut novel by Jaime Jo Wright. It has all of the characteristics of a great mystery-- creepiness, murder, abduction, suspense and fear. Another aspect that made this such an interesting novel was the plot of timelines of two women one hundred years apart and tied to each other by family and to the house on Foster Hill in Wisconsin. Both women are drawn to helping others that has put their lives in danger. They have had a tough life and question where God is when the bad things happen.
Ivy Thorpe lost her brother when he fell through the ice on a pond as a teenager. She, Andrew and a friend, Joel Cunningham, who lived in a local orphanage spent a lot of time together. When Joel left town right after, Ivy was left to mourn her loss without her friend. Her life has not been the same since Andrew's death. She helps her father, the local doctor and medical examiner, and keeps a record of his findings and the life of the deceased. When an unknown woman is killed and left in a tree at the abandoned house on Foster Hill, her father determines that she had recently given birth. Ivy gets involved in the investigation trying to find the missing baby and her life is in danger because someone doesn't want her near the house. Joel returns to town to help with the investigation but he finds that Ivy harbors anger for his desertion when Andrew died. He has a strong faith and wants to mend their friendship.
Kaine Prescott has spent her life helping abused women get out of their situations. But the last two years she has been mourning the death of her husband killed in an auto accident that the police believe was caused because he had drugs in his system. He never took drugs and Kaine thinks he was murdered. She feels that someone is stalking her but the police don't see any evidence of that. She needs a new break so she buys a house in the hometown of her grandfather and her great great grandmother, Ivy Thorpe. The house is the house on Foster Hill. She does not realize the connection with Ivy. Unfortunately, it appears that her stalker has followed her. With the help of two new friends in town to keep her safe, she keeps trying to find answers.
Jaime Jo Wright does a great job tying the events of both women together in a surprising and unexpected way. Both women had friends of faith helping them work through their trials. This is a great read and I look forward to reading more by this author. Her storytelling is detailed and strong with realistic characters and an interesting plot.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw this book and read the synopsis I was immediately intrigued. I love dual-time stories and this one had a twist to it. I also love suspense, mystery, as well as romance, and this story covered all those aspects plus much more!
The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the author. Jamie Jo Wright is new to me, so I was a bit cautious. Yet, from the very first page to the end of the book I was captured with the story.
Ivy is a young woman in the 1900’s, who has been dealing with a deep grief in her life. When she discovers a mystery, she becomes obsessed with find the answers, even when searching for the answers puts her in some very dangerous situations. Her drive to seek the truth also reflexes on her need to bury her past hurts and losses. Through all these struggles she finds God’s healing hope in the most unexpected place.
Kaine, a young woman in current time, finds she is lost after the death of her husband. As she tries to start her life over, she buys a house in the town her family came from. Little did she know it would lead to lots of mystery and suspense. Like Ivy, she too just wants to find the truth and searching for it just may be too much for her to handle.
This story will keep you captured and not let you go until you’ve read all of it. The author does a fantastic job of creating plots with twist and turns. As you read you might think you have it all figured out and then the author throws in new surprises. Jamie Jo Wright has a wonderful way of telling a story. She brings vivid word pictures and smooth flow of the characters. There were times I actually had to put the book down, because it got so intense.
The author tackled some issues which are difficult, and these issues brought out strong emotions for me. However, the author did a wonderful job of weaving God’s everlasting hope throughout the story.
I was truly captivated by this book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone. It will be well worth your time to read it.

Warning: The House on Foster Hill is sure to steal your breath!
The House on Foster Hill is a timeslip novel. Part of the story is told through Ivy's perspective in 1906, while the other half takes place during present day with Kaine. Their mysterious stories weave together with such excellent pacing that you will need to be sure that you can devote the entire day to reading! Answers. You will NEED answers. ;-)
But do you get all of them?
I'll never tell... ;-)
Ivy's side of the story almost felt like a gothic novel, while Kaine's side had all the terror and angst of a girl-on-the-run movie. Ivy's journey proved especially intriguing to me. Even though I always have a hard time with widow/widower angles, I try not to let this stop me from reading excellent stories. So while this angle is difficult for me, it was understandably a huge part of Kaine's story and character development. Rest assured, when you close the cover on this chilling, twisting tale, you will find that the message of hope and living life despite, through, and in triumph over darkness resounds in your heart. I also appreciate and admire the author for tackling difficult topics like death and sex trafficking in such a candid way.
Four Stars ~ The House on Foster Hill is a thrilling romantic suspense rarely seen in Christian Fiction. I look forward to reading whatever Jamie Jo Wright pens - er, types - next!

Full of twists and turns, the House on Foster hill by Jaime Jo Wright is a suspenseful, knuckle biting read that will keep you turning the pages till the wee hours of the morning. In my opinion one of the best Christian Fiction books of the year.
Kaine Prescott is leaving California behind and all the nightmares that went with it. Since the death of her husband Danny two years ago, Kaine’s appeal to the police to investigate his death as a murder has fallen on deaf ears. She also believes that the man who took her husband’s life is now stalking and toying with her. Unable to convince the current authorities that her husband was murdered, Kaine decides to leave San Diego and move to Oakwood, WI to start a new life. That new life involves buying and renovating her great-great grandmother Ivy’s old house on Foster Hill. Unfortunately, upon her arrival in Oakwood and the house on Foster Hill, she realizes her mistake at buying the house sight unseen. Everything is in shambles and in desperate need of a major restoration. With no other options for her, Kaine is determined to succeed and regain a sense of independence and sets about the rehabilitation of her new home.
Once in town, the friendly residents of Oakwood are more than happy to greet Kaine and provide her with a none too appealing history of her great-great grandmother’s house. It would appear an unsolved murder of a young girl named Gabriella still haunts the property to date. The old house, the mystery of Gabriella’s murder and her great-great grandmother Ivy’s infamous preoccupation with death provides the background for the town’s rumors of the old home’s ghosts and hauntings. Determined to finish what she started despite all the rumors and hard work, Kaine is resolute on restoring the old house on Foster Hill. She returns each day adamant on getting the project done. It is during one of her visits to the old house that she uncovers what she believes are the writings of the young girl named Gabriella hidden under some floor boards on the second floor. But when she also discovers a picture of her late husband Danny in one of the upstairs bedrooms, Kaine is convinced her stalker has returned and followed her to her new home in Oakwood, WI. Kaine knows she will never be free unless she makes a stand once and for all and fights for her life. With her new friends from Oakwood in tow to protect her, Kaine is resolved to confront her stalker and solve the mysteries of Gabriella and her great-great grandmother’s past.
There was never a dull moment in The House on Foster Hill. A page turner from the very start, this suspenseful book was a roller-coaster ride and I didn’t want to get off. Cleverly written from the perspective of both Kaine in the present and Ivy from the past, I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter. Just when I thought I had it figured out, something new would happen to send me off in a new direction. Not only was the story-line full of mystery, but the tension between the characters was palpable. I loved Joel’s and Grant’s characters the best. They were strong, chivalrous and determined to help the women they loved. Kaine and her great-great grandmother Ivy were more alike than even Kaine knew. Fighting for the rights of women and the injustices they endured, Ivy was a woman before her time. I was also happy that Grant was able to help Kaine find the strength to live a full and faith filled life once again. And last but not least, I thank the author for resolving all the mysteries surrounding the old house and the women who lived there. Like all good reads, The House on Foster Hill will be a book that will stay with me for quite a while.
For those who like great fiction filled with suspense and a plot that keeps you guessing Jaime Jo Wright’s, The House on Foster Hill, is for you. A book with strong characters and a story-line that is a sure hit, this is one book you won’t put down once you pick it up. The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright is so well written and holds so much mystery that I read this book in one day! It is that good. The story takes place in Wisconsin. The author has written this story that takes place during current day, but flashes back to 1906.
Kaine Prescott lost her husband to a car accident two years earlier. She feels it was not an accident but law enforcement does not take her serious. They label her as having PTSD. Needing to start a new life, she uses her husband's insurance money and buys an old house in the Wisconsin town her grandfather lived in. The house has a lot of mystery surrounding it and has not been lived in for years. A new friend is helping her clean up the house and when things start happening that make Kaine question moving, her friend tells her, “The Lord brought you here. To us.” As she digs into the history of the house, she finds out she has a connection to the house and the mystery about the house is finally solved.
Ivy Thorp lived in the same Wisconsin town in 1906. A young woman shows up deal on the property and Ivy attempts to find out who she is. Things happen in the house that make no sense. Music is heard at night, and lights are turned on and off.
I really enjoyed reading this story, there is so much mystery that it is hard to put down. I kept reading it just to find out what was going to happen next. I think anyone who enjoys suspense/romantic suspense stories will greatly enjoy this book.

Sometimes you try a new author and are impressed and sometimes the book just doesn't connect. I can say that Jaime Jo Wright's debut novel..The House on Foster Hill was an outstanding read that had me thoroughly involved throughout the story. I really enjoy the story lines that span history and entail two different time periods that the story weaves around. This story spans over a hundred years to the present and the author redefines historical suspense with a house and the women it touched.
Starting out in Oakwood Wisconsin in 1906, Ivy Thorpe felt that death had a way of creeping up on a soul, and Ivy Thorpe was determined that when it visited her, she would not be surprised. Her story would be recorded and remembered. When a body is found in the Foster Hill oak tree, Ivy sets out to find out her story and what happened to her and her baby. The House of Foster Hill has always had a reputation of sinister happenings and now this.
Kaine Prescott is heading to the Foster Hill house from California after she purchases her grandfather's house sight unseen. Her husband died two years ago and she believes it to be suspicious and keeps trying to get the investigation reopened. When Kaine sees the abandoned house, she realizes her decision was foolish to try to compensate for her husbands death. She wants to redo the house because he wanted to always do that. Now she is learning the dark history to the house and someone is out to keep her from continuing to find out the the truth. She finds small treasures in the house from Ivy and Kaine is trying to put together the same story that Ivy was putting together about the strange house on Foster Hill.
This storyline has it all...suspense, romance and intrigue that will keep you turning pages to find out what Ivy and Kaine find out about the House on Foster Hill and just how the two stories are stories of legacy and loss. The characters were very well crafted along with twists that surprised me and hope that tied it altogether. Please pick up and read, you will not be disappointed.

I would rank this in the top 5 Best Suspense for 2017. I loved both the past and present stories in this dual timeline equally.
Kaine Prescott doesn't believe her husband's death was an accident. No one will believe her claims that someone is stalking her, or her pleas that this same person murdered her husband. Desperate to start over, Kaine moves far away to her grandfather's hometown. When Kaine arrives at the house on foster hill, it seems the nightmare has followed her. She begins to learn of her family history, and finds it eerily similar to her own. With the support of her new friend Grant Jesse, Kaine is determined to learn the truth of the past and end this continual nightmare.
Years earlier, the house on foster hill holds dark secrets of death and Ivy Thorpe is determined to reveal the truth. Ivy is viewed as strange for writing about the dead, when really she just wants to keep the memory of life. When a young girl is murdered, Ivy wants nothing more than to keep her memory alive. But to do so, she must find the true identity of the girl.
The suspense in this story definitely grabs hold and won't let go. Most of all, I loved the message of hope portrayed. No matter how dark the circumstances in this life, there is always hope.

The House of Foster Hill is one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The past and the present clash when Kate decides to buy an abandoned house sight unseen. The only thing she knows about the house is that it is in the town where her grandfather once lived. She soon finds out that she has a much deeper connection to the house.
The connection comes through Ivy Thorpe who, a century earlier, kept a death book. It’s not as bad as it sounds! Her father did post mortems on the deceased and Ivy felt that it was her calling to write about those who had passed. She didn’t want them to be forgotten. This gave her quite the reputation in town, but Ivy didn’t care what people thought of her.
Kate and Ivy are alike in that they are tied to the house on Foster Hill, and they are both curious about the goings-on there. Ivy is trying to find out what happened to the dead girl found in the tree on the property, and Kate is trying to find out why someone seems to have followed her there….someone who she believes killed her husband.
The House on Foster Hill is definitely a book Christian suspense lovers are going to want to read. It is filled with great characters, mystery and some romance.
