Rather disappointed in the text of the story - not really written for babies or toddlers, although it's a board book. The illustrations are okay, but the storyline is a bit violent for bedtime and follows the superhero action type of plot.

Omg! This is the cutest book! It’s a Bday present for my 5 year old niece. She will love it. And FYI every Marvel character in the MCU make an appearance. Highly recommend!! Think I might grab a couple more copies for Christmas presents!

This story is just blah. It’s not the least bit entertaining. My 2.5 yr old loves story time and everytime we get this out and start reading it he asks for a mother book and shuts it. He will look at the pictures by himself though

Each page has some random "G'night, sleep tight, until tomorrow" text that is completely disconnected from the plot. The plot is also incoherent, as each page is just art of a new marvel character beating up a bad guy. Why are they bad? Who knows?

Basically, you can read the text on the page, which is unrelated to what is happening on that same page, or you can try to explain an incoherent plot to your child. Neither option makes for fun bedtime reading.

I just wanted a story about Rocket and Groot exploring space, but this book has all the Avengers just thrown in for no good reason. It's maddening.

Pros:
Good art

Cons:
No plot
Bad writing
Random Marvel characters on every page, not really doing anything that makes sense.
Why are you making me explain who the High Evolutionary is to my 3 year old????

I know, you're going to say "what did you expect?" From the cover, it looked like a fun time on the Milano to be honest. From a parent's perspective and Marvel fan, this book misses the mark. You spend approximately 75% of your time saying "don't hit" and "why don't you check in with him because you hurt him" as a parent. This book models that kind of bad behavior and markets to the age group where you're trying to mitigate it the most (Toddlers- who need a bedtime routine.) Most of all this is a missed opportunity to jet around the stars in the Milano, play hide and seek on Xandar, visit friends (or babies) at the Alpha Flight hospital and further contrast grumpy Rocket to happy Groot. The possibilities were literally endless. But they chose this. Before you get judgey, I'm a parent who reads a lot of Marvel titles to the kids, like the "Totally Awesome Hulk" (which ironically has less violence per issue than this book) or "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur." I read this book once and refuse to read it to the kids again. I'm hiding it in a closet until they're old enough.

In Night Night, Groot, author Brendan Deneen details the adventures that are involved when Groot gets ready for bed. It's a post-Guardians of the Galaxy baby Groot, and it's not too long before Rocket pulls him into another adventure.

The genuis of Night Night, Groot isn't just that it's a book with some truly adorable illustrations. It's also a book that makes the Marvel universe accessible to a younger crowd, particularly for those readers that may not necessarily be ready for the movies just yet.

(Because after all, who wants to be the young reader who doesn't know what the Marvel universe is, especially if all of their friends are talking about it?)

Deneen carefully walks readers through a fun landscape adventure, where readers and baby Groot encounter a number of familiar Marvel faces. It's a series of fun, active adventures with these faces, written in short, easy-to-grasp sentences that will pull the reader throughout the book. But by the time the adventures are over, both Baby Groot and the readers will be ready to finally bed down for the night. .

With vivid illustrations and a colorful palette, this is a beautiful fun book for any reader. Highly recommend, full stop.

Who can resist little baby Groot???

In NIGHT NIGHT, GROOT, little Groot is getting ready for bed... until Rocket pulls him back into one more adventure for the day!

Groot and Rocket soar through space running into other well-known Marvel characters - an amazing way to introduce your little ones to the franchise and also give them a sweet, fun-filled and adventure-packed story before bedtime... everyone will surely be sleepy-eyed once this epic story is done.

The illustrations are so inviting, full of energy and warm colors - engaging enough to keep you going, but soft enough to let you settle in and hope that Groot gets through his story before dozing off and leaving Rocket behind.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who not only loves Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel comics, or comics in general but to everyone who loves amazing illustrations and an easy to follow bed time story to share with the family!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. All thoughts here are my own.

Who can resist baby Groot? He's just SO CUTE! Cale Atkinson's illustrations are some of our favorite, and he definitely upped his game with this adorable bedtime story. Brendan's story is even more appealing with the rhyming kids will enjoy, and including the family of Avenger's characters into the story. Definitely a bed time book worth picking up!

This book is written in rhyme with the story infusing many superstars into the story line.

It is time for Groot to go to bed but Rocket in the story comes to visit him and all of a sudden Groot is involved in an adventure. The adventure has lots of super heroes and Groot is part of the story.

Groot wonders if the story is real or a dream. What does the reader think?

It is a fun story with some superheroes, Groot , and Rocket.

An average bedtime storybook made INCREDIBLE by the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket is still his sassy (though more PG) self, and Groot is as loveable as always. Definitely recommend this for tiny Marvel fans- and the parents that can't stand to read Goodnight, Moon one more time.

My son Nathaniel is more into princesses (my influence because we watch Princess Disney movies all the time ^.^) but he LOVES the dancing Groot that we see in the toy department. So when I saw this book and pointed it out to him he had to have it! Now every night we have to read "Baby Groot!" before going to bed! I love books that rhyme, are specifically bed time books, have awesome/adorable art, and are short enough to keep his attention. This book hits 10s on all of those criteria!
