I loved this book, the author does a wonderful job of quickly drawing the reader into the world of the Keepers/Reapers without loosing focus or turning the romance into a farce as it blooms. Yes, the romance is there- but it doesn't completely overtake the plot. The reactions of the characters mingled love/hate relationship ring true even as you secretly root for them to be together. I will definitely be reading the next book.

I held off from reading this book longer than I should have swayed by the other reviews. I'm sorry that I waited. I don't know what they are talking about. I almost wonder if we read the same book.
The typos are less than fingers I have on one hand. And the same amount I see in any book no matter the publisher. A single your instead of you're. Not big deal. Didn't slow me down.
I was expecting a romantic scene, since a reviewer suggested it came early. I kept waiting and waiting. This must be it! Nope. The timing of the romance was not rushed at all. Is there sex in the book, yeah. It's in the first chapter. That sets the tone that you will see sex. And there are only three scenes and they aren't graphic or crude. This is FAR from erotica. I thought the scenes were hot. More of a tease and lots left up to the imagination.
Is there swearing? Yes. People swear, a lot. It is such a social norm that it feels fake to roundabout profanity. I think it adds to the realism and was not overly used.
Now that I answered what bothered me about the review that hindered my reading this a year ago, I'll tell you what I think of the plot:
I love magical/ paranormal stories in mundane settings.
I love the family dynamics. Even from dead family members there is interaction (they see spirits after all). They unravel this secret prophecy and their lives change dramatically.
I love the conflicted bad guy. He has a good streak and it grows when he comes into contact with the Chosen One.
I love the flawed, but strong, protagonist. I don't want to read about a goody-goody Pollyanna who the bad guys are picking on. There are enough stories like this.
Truly, this is a unique story unlike others I have read. I am so glad that I decided to give it a try. I don't think I'm going to put stock in reviews after this experience.

This would have been better without all the foul language, specifically the f bomb, and the explicit sex. There are ways to get the story across without having to delve into those explicit sex scenes and foul language.

I thoroughly enjoyed Keeper vs. Reaper. The dialogue made it for me. Sassy characters with distinct personalities made a typical "good versus bad" tale into a story I couldn't put down. Action, a little romance and a lot of lust, sprinkled with wit. I may have laughed, more than once.

I like the story, the whole take keepers v. Reapers. Good unfolding, wish it was longer; reached 88% on my kindle and story was finished. Needs better editing, those misplaced quotations marks were annoying. Would recommend the book. 4 stars.

EXCELLENT writing! This author reminds me of Stephanie Meyer in her ability to suck you deeply into her world. The story progresses well and leaves you feeling satisfied with the story by the end, while still wanting to read the next book. Great character development and very well executed story line :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the second in the series as well. There were twists and turns everywhere. I read the first one simply because I like the genre and it was free. I could not put it down and as soon as I finished it I bought the second one. I am patiently waiting for the third so in the meantime I will read some of her other works. I am so glad I found these books and this author.

I love love love this book!! I'm definitely a fan of Lucy and Jack's! I love how they're thrown about their attraction to each other, instead of instantly making them fall in love they're also kind of like WTF is this?? Lol. And uhm hello steamy scenes!! I totally blushed once or twice, haha. Jacks a hottie and Lucy kicks ass. I hate it when girls in books are always whiny and helpless so that was also a plus. Overall great book! Really enjoyed the read. :)

I was hooked from the first paragraph. This story tells the tale of Keepers, who protect the souls who have passed and have not moved on yet, and Reapers, who feed on the souls. Lucy, prophesied as the Chosen One to bring an end to the Reapers, is the seventh child, born on the seventh day of the seventh month. Jack, Prince to the reapers, saves her life from his best friend Aiden, who was sent to destroy Lucy by Jack's mother, the Empress of all Reapers, in an effort to stop the prophecy. But once the Empress regains memories that were taken from her she realizes that Lucy may be the salvation for the war between The Keepers and the Reapers. She heard a different prophecy that tells of her blood mixing with the Chosen One's to bring about the end of the war. While she thinks she has to literally draw Lucy's blood and mix it with her own, she changes her orders and has Aiden kidnap Lucy instead, so she can experiment with her blood before she kills her. Meanwhile, Lucy's sister explains to her other siblings about the attraction between Lucy and Jack and how they can actually touch each other and not feel the burning pain that is usually associated with when a Reaper and Keeper touch skin. She also explains how both Lucy and Jack have a strong connection and talks the other siblings into enlisting Jack's help with the rescue.
I look forward to hear how this story progresses and am moving on to book two ASAP.

I found out about this book because the author and I share the same cover designer, and I must say the cover is fabulous! I really liked the thought of a Keeper vs. Reaper and thought the idea was original, so I bought the book.
This is a story of two people that cannot seem to deny their attraction from each other aside from basically good and evil, if you will. I enjoyed the main characters, Jack and Lucy, and the character development them and the supporting characters. Normally, I'm annoyed when there is a supporting character that is a ghost, but I have to say I liked the father coming in that way and feel that in this book it really worked. It was a good read.
There were times when I found the third person point of view a bit distracting, and a few typos and grammatical errors that I noticed, but for the most part when it was over I found I didn't want to end, and pre-ordered the next book in the series.

Jennifer Malone Wright has already established herself as an awesome fantasy writer, but she's outdone herself with this new series. This is a non-stop, action-packed roller coaster ride of a novel, filled with sexy men and women. The concept is unique and original. I can't wait for the next book!!!

Loved this story and can't wait for more!!! It's almost a paranormal version of Romeo and Juliet, but better!!
Keepers guard cemeteries, keeping the souls that are still there safe from the Reapers. The Reapers feed off the souls to keep there strength up. The two have been enemies forever, and if they touch each other they feel like they are being burnt.
Lucy's family takes care of the local graveyard. But after the death of her father it falls on her shoulders. But when her father's soul informs her that she is the prophecy, she doesn't know what to say. Of the original seven families, the seventh born on the seventh day of the seventh month will end the Reapers. But when she meets Jack, a Reaper, things take a twist. No pain from touching, and both are drawn together. But Jack is there to kill Lucy per his mother the Empiress' command. Can he go through with it or is the pull to strong? And do the Reapers have their own prophecy??

This book took a long time for me to read it. Up until around 66 percent I just wasn't interested. When I started to get into the book it ended without answering questions---cliff hanger. Worst kind of book possible. I don't know if I should buy the next book or move on. If the next book is like this one it would be a waste of my money. I also didn't like the fact that a lot of the book showed previews of other books.

Any good book in my opinion has to have well developed characters. An added bonus is that you care about them. In this book the good are not to good. The bad are not to bad. This plus an interesting story line is the reason for my rating.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the sexy scenes and foul language. The characters are great and the story is interesting. I gave the book a 4.5 is because there really wasn't any good relationship building ( I like the falling in love stuff ), also it made me want to smh that no one got the 2nd part of the prophecy. Like how can not one of them get it? But other than that it's great.

I almost gave this book 5 stars. The problem is the filthy language. I can pass on a few curse words, but not consistently using the "f" word and using the Lord's name in vain. I think there might be lots more readers without the horrible language. Who talks that way??

I only read the first couple of chapters. I got the book through bookbub for free and I am glad. I understand that people use profanity and I can even understand its use as part of a character. However, at the point it become more pervasive than the story or the other words on the page, my time is better spent elsewhere. Sadly, the writer and their editor failed to recognize that it is a distraction from the story to the point that what could have been a good tale, looks like it was written by a teenager who thinks "swearing makes you sound cool" or sound like an adult.

A duely diligent author would know that a crossbow fires bolts, not arrows, and they are kept in a quarrel, not a quiver. This is just the most grating of the details that make reading this book like applying my own eyeballs to a cheese grater.

Simple premise. Could have been a good story if the author had discovered not evey word in the dictionary is only four letters long. Way too much profanity. Some can make a story. This author just uses it as fill indicating she needs to grow up or learn to be a story teller.

This is one of the worst books I ever read. I finished it because I wanted to see if there was even a point to the idea of Reapers/Keepers. There wasn't. The grammar was amazingly bad. The punctuation was ridiculous. The book would be 10% shorter if all the forms of the f word and the potty language were removed. I can't even begin to describe how bad the writing is. It reads like the first draft of a bad book written by an 8-year-old.The characters' motivations are a mystery. I just can't believe Wright got anything else published if this is an example of her writing. But based on the ratings, she knows what her readers want. I'm glad I didn't pay for this book,

This book was littered with typos. One or two I can let pass, but I felt like I was finding some sort of grammatical mistake or missing word at least twice in every chapter. It became incredibly distracting. I also had a pretty good guess at what was going to happen after reading the first chapter, and I ended up being nearly spot-on, so I would say this novel is incredibly predictable.
The author has a very....round about? Passive? Meandering?....writing style. It's like she actively decides she's going to use the most number of words possible to say one thing. Mundane things like getting ready in the morning, starting a car, and eating are described in the minutest details. Nobody cares. Save the vivid descriptions for things that matter. Most of us know what taking a shower looks like, and less than a sentence needs to be devoted to describing this because it does nothing to advance the plot (unless of course someone gets murdered in the shower, then that's something I might want to read).
The characters are...boring. One is obsessed with banging any female on two legs, one is a 'loner' who is completely devoted to her family and does nothing very interesting at all, and the rest are just kind of there for the sake of making it look like the author tried.
I was not impressed and didn't have the mental fortitude to slog through this novel, so I quit.

There is a new series you must get your hands onto. Of course, there's one major flaw, which I must disclose to you before I give this novel countless accolades. I was distraught when I flipped to the last page or listened to the last track on the CD, only to find that there's a book two but was unable to find the audio version. Talk about being bummed! When you're sitting behind a desk for hours keying information, and the one thing I have to look forward to is getting lost in a world unlike none other. Let's just say the rest of my day didn't go as planned.
Jennifer Malone Wright's, "Keeper vs. Reaper" offers readers a new world. So what's the story about? Well..., there's this family that's responsible for protecting the souls of those roaming inside the graveyard. And the reapers--I'm sure you can imagine who and what they are. The main character, Lucy, discovers something about herself that changes her life, but what does that mean? Unfortunately, you will have to read the book to find out. However, what I can tell you is this, Wright has brought something worth reading and she has gained a new fan, me.
Coming from a large family with overprotective siblings, Lucy finds herself attempting to prove that she is ready for the responsibility of keeping the graveyard souls safe. Yet, when all hell breaks loose and Lucy becomes involved with the enemy, things get dicey.
An engrossing, compelling read that deserves more than five stars. Written with a new flare offering something fresh to the world of books that readers desire and crave.
I give "Keeper vs. Reaper" 5 Stars and can't wait to sink my mind into book two.
Happy reading folks.

This is the first book in an intriguing NA series. I enjoyed it.
I downloaded this on to my Kindle, but due to time issues was not able to read it. So when the author offered me a complimentary code for an audiobook copy in return for an honest review, I gladly accepted.
This book is narrated by Kelsey Osborne. Unfortunately, I don't know what it was, but I found that her voice, although young and energetic, sometimes set my teeth on edge. I mean no disrespect. She read the story clearly, but there was just something about her reading style that rubbed me the wrong way. I cannot put my finger on the reason why. Other readers/listeners may not have the same reaction.
Lucy Mae Estmond is not your typical character. She is a Keeper, or protector of souls. I have no idea what age she is, but she acted like an angst-filled teen rather than a responsible adult at times. I struggled to like her due to the self-pity party she had going on. Granted, her father had just passed away and she felt emotional, but I felt like strangling her on occasions.
Jack Walker on the other hand is a fantastic character. He has his faults and is a total jerk, but he seemed more mature and with it than Lucy. He's a Reaper and the enemy of the Keepers due to the fact he eats souls to survive. He also happens to be the son of the Emperor and Empress of the Reapers, and has been sent on a mission to kill the chosen one.
I started to listen to this book and received a shock. It's not often a book starts out with an explicit sex scene. However, once I got over that little surprise, I began to understand why the author would do that. It shows the reader the supposed personality of the character. I'm just glad I was listening to it with my headphones on, or my Dad would have had a huge shock too and I would have been completely embarrassed! Anyway, back to the review. Once I got over that stumbling block, I really enjoyed meeting the Estmond clan. They are as complex and diverse as any family. They fight with each other, as siblings do, but if one of them is in danger they band together and are a formidable team when threatened. Jack's best friend Aiden is also intriguing. He's got a tough job, being Jack's friend, but he's ambitious and determined to rise in the ranks of the Reapers.
The story is a little predictable at times, especially near the beginning. It is told through the eyes of Jack, Lucy and Aiden. However, there are a few twists and turns that kept me hooked. The mystery of the prophecy regarding the "chosen one" made for an interesting twist. However, there is not much romance between the two main protagonists in the beginning. In fact, they don't interact until quite some time into the story. However, once they meet, things get interesting. There's a spectacular fight scene near the end of the book that got my heart racing, and now I am looking forward to reading Keeper of the Peace as soon as possible.
Jennifer Malone Wright has written an intriguing start to a series. I love her fast paced writing style and the flow of the story was wonderful. I have read only one other book by this author, but I would definitely read more of her books in the future.
Due to scenes of explicit sexual situations and the liberal use of bad language, I do not recommend this book to young readers under the age of 18. I do, however, recommend this book if you love new adult paranormal romances with spunky heroines and sexy heroes. - Lynn Worton

I love the plot line and the characters. My biggest pet peeve is the incorrect use of you're/your and they're/their. It was so consistently wrong that I almost had to wonder if it was intentionally done by an editor with a grudge.
That said, I have read both books and I'm looking forward to the third. Because in spite of the grammar and spelling issues, I really do love the story. I would love to see the other characters get their "happily ever after" so I hope Jennifer Malone Wright continues this series.
I always judge a book by whether I play a movie in my head while I'm reading it. I definitely played a movie in my head on both of these. It's a very fine line between overindulging in flowery description and just creating an ambiance with enough detail for the reader to create the image in their head. Jennifer Malone Wright hits that fine balance.

This book is so bad I couldn't even finish the first chapter. Too crude. Why would I want those images in my head. Unless you like soft porn, stay away. Too bad cause I really wanted to like this book.
I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Today we have a treat. Jennifer Malone Wright's series Graveyard Guardians is a real treasure and a treat. It's a slight "Romeo and Juliet" flavored story.Lucy is the youngest in her family and has to deal with her fathers passing. On top of all that she has to take over the responsibility of the the family business, plus protect souls in the graveyard. As if that's not enough the reaper queen sends someone to kill her as she is the Prophecy Child that can end them. Jack, the reaper that was sent to kill Lucy, finds out during a scuffle, that for some reason Lucy's skin doesn't burn him the way Keeper skin burns Reapers. Now fate seems to have a different idea for Jack and Lucy. Are they going to bypass orders and their natures and become a couple or will their fates be cruel and one, or both, succeed in their duty and kill the other. Head on over to the store and pickup the first one for yourself and take a look. You will be itching to get the rest to see what else will happen between the Keepers and the Reapers.

A great new series. A world of soul protectors who are pitted against a race who must consume souls to live. (Reminds me of the books by Sherrilyn Kenyon). What happens when you get a Romeo and Juliet situation with the added bonus of a prophecy that will shake both their world's. Good plot but it seems to be focused more on the relationship between the two groups rather than the prophecy. No one has even bothered to translate the thing. A good read just wish it had a bit more focus on the prophecy. Great characters but it is really about their relationship to each other rather than the supernatural aspects.

Lucy is the next in line to be the Keeper of souls that have recently passed including her father. Her job is to make sure that Reapers don’t come and snatch them before they get a chance to cross over. Jack is a reaper, whose new job is to kill the Chosen One….big problem however once he meets Lucy he has a sudden urge to protect her. Can Lucy be the one to end all Reapers or will her attraction to Jack come in the way?
Jennifer has once again blown me away! The story is well written and has you wondering what is going to happen next…will Lucy, the chosen one end all Reapers or will she fall for the one man she isn’t supposed to? I loved the interaction with her father after his passing, still pulling strength from the man she has looked up to all her life. Lucy and Jack as well as all the other other supporting characters are well defined and add so much to itt

While I have some of this author's other books on my TBR, I haven't yet had a chance to read any of her other work. But if the rest is as good as Keeper vs Reaper, I think I'm going to be pretty darn happy with her books.
This was one of those unputdownable reads for me. I thought the concept was pretty cool and original, and really enjoyed the bit of modern day, paranormal Romeo and Juliet theme laced into this story. Everything flowed so well, making it easy for me to fly right through...where I'm now impatiently waiting for the next in the series. Because dang, this story was outstanding!
For some reason when I started reading, I got the impression that the characters were younger than they actually are, though I'm not sure why. But this cast of characters was fleshed out pretty well-I really liked all the different personalities of Lucy's siblings, and Lucy herself was a bit of a spitfire. And of course there's Jack. Though at first you get the whole bad boy vibe from him (which is pretty damn tempting in itself), that just gets so turned around once he and Lucy meet and touch for the first time, and having him change into the whole sexy alpha-protector role just throws him up a whole ton of notches on the book boyfriend scale.
You'll get some great action, intrigue, and soulmate-style romance (in addition to the hot and steamy scenes that definitely put this as an 18+ read), characters that you'll care about...and a great need to see where everything goes from here. And then there's Aiden...whose character I'm really intrigued to see again...
A 5-star read for me!

This story is different that anything that Jennifer has written before. This present day story of Keepers, the protectors of souls and Reapers the collector of souls, is something new. With the exciting addition of a forbidden romance, it made this a book hard time putting down. Action, tension, witty comments and family camaraderie had me laughing and biting my nails. I love each character for obvious reasons you will see when you read it. I thoroughly look forward to reading more on the Keepers and Reapers in the future books that are sure to come. This is definitely a book you don't want to miss!
This is an 18+ read due to sexual content and language.

Jennifer has done it again!!! Amazing!!! I loved it, it grabbed my attention and it never let go!! This book is so good, a very satisfying read, a real page turner. I love how intense and full of twists the story line is. It takes you on a journey of Keepers that protect souls, while the Reapers are after them. The characters are so well written, the plot deepened as it developed. Definitely one of my favorite books of the year. Can not wait for the next installment, waiting patiently to see what happens next. Thank you Jennifer. Keep them coming :)

This book is so different from anything I've read lately. You've got Reapers that survive on souls, & the Keepers who have sworn to protect the souls. They have been enemies since, well forever. Until...Jack walked in for a donut. Who knew their whole world to be turned upside down with one simple touch? Ok...I seriously could not put this book down!
The character's personalities are as dazzling as their auras, their sarcasm contagious, & the possibilities unlimited.
The reference to Romeo & Juliet fits well as these two families, born enemies, shall not accept one another much less allow whatever is happening between Lucy & Jack to continue. Or will they? No spoilers here...You will have to snatch this story up upon release to get the details, folks. Trust me when I tell you that you will NOT regret it!

When I began this book, I was sitting down to my morning coffee, gently smiling over the fact that the wonderful Jennifer Malone Wright had forwarded on a copy for me to read. Never once did I realise that "Keeper vs. Reaper" would have me captivated for an entire day!
This book truly has it all: sexiness, intrigue, passion, a fast paced plot, a little twist here and there, and above all else, it's a completely new direction for an author who is not only blossoming, but she is one to watch!
Jack(a reaper) was a GREAT character, and whilst I know not all readers will fall in love with him instantly, I couldn't help but fall in love with his conflicting personality. He has a lot going on in his head, and his mother doesn't ease those burdens. Jennifer did a brilliant job of letting us inside his head.
Lucy (a keeper) is mourning the death of her father and comes from a pretty big family. Lucy soon finds out that she is the "chosen one" in a prophecy that completely shocks her. Lucy was a great character too. I found myself howling at some of her one liners, her gusto and the fact that she is one smart, level headed and feisty heroine.
Then we have Ethan...poor little lost boy Ethan, taken in by the Estmonds, and treated like one of their own, but is there something we don't know? Is Ethan all that he appears to be? Hmmmm......
All in all, this is a superb book for anyone who wants to delve into the paranormal world. It will make you laugh, shout, cringe and above all else, it will entertain you.
Now go grab a copy.

Outstanding start to a series. classic good vs. evil, except the evil is not so evil sometimes. Characters are developed and unique. The storyline is fast paced and events move the story along. The audio book was well done and was easy to follow. The narration was top notch. The ending completes the first story and sets up the next installment. You would be satisfied to end the series here, but will feel compelled to move to the next story.

I was lucky to be chosen to review a copy of this book, I'm a huge fan of Jennifer's books so far so I quickly began to read..
At first I was a little unsure if this would be something I would like to read or not since I've never read this sort of book before, but half way through the book, I was completely hooked! I found myself reading straight through the night, just so I can see what happened from one chapter to the next!
Can't wait to keep reading the next installment!

Sloppy editing plus sex as plot make this book a waste of time. I am not offended by crude language in service of a story but every other word starts to take away the impact. The characters are cardboard cliches with only impulse as motivation for their actions. I skimmed the last third to see if the plot picked up only to hit the wall with a highly inconclusive ending. Don't bother with this book.

I got this book in audio format and loved it. The way Jennifer Wright writes makes you feel like your there. Lucy is a defender of the souls and Jack is a soul reaper. They have a up and relationships because they are mortal enemies. It takes a lot of encounters before they realize they are made for each other.

This is the first book in the Graveyard Guardian series. The Keepers roam their assigned cemetery, guarding the spirits from the soul sucking Reapers. The Reapers are also suppose to kill the Keepers. This is a great book with a twist in the middle.

Jennifer Malone Wright has developed a knack for writing interesting female characters with twisted love affairs. As the title implies, Lucy is a Keeper, guardian of souls that pass through her graveyard. Jack, well, he works for the other team, harvesting souls. So even if Lucy could get past the fact that he's a Reaper, what would her family think? Jennifer develops an entirely new world and draws the reader in, leaving them anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

A very well written paranormal book.My only reason for a 4 is the cliffhanger ending! I would love to read the next in the series.
Good story line and the flow is good.
I received a free copy of this book for a honest review

Jennifer Malone Wright’s “Keeper vs. Reaper” is the first book in the “Graveyard Guardians” series. If you liked “Charmed” or “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” you will like this story. The “bad guys” are soul suckers (reapers) and the leading man, Jack, is an interesting aberration among them. Lucy, the leading lady, is part of a soul-guarding (keeper) family. I love the ghostly father interactions too. Lucy and Jack are drawn to each other and their connection is very steamy! When I reached the last page, I kept tapping my kindle screen over and over not wanting to be at 100%. I can’t wait to hear what happens next. 4 out of 5!

This book is about just what the title says Keepers (soul protectors) vs Reapers (soul suckers/stealers). Our two lead people are Jack a reaper and Lucy a young keeper who has just lost her father. I feel in love with Lucy her quick wit and overall attitude had me laughing though out. Jack was a hard one for me to love. He has a lot of issues but you will learn why (mommy issues).
Over all I felt Jennifer did an amazing job with this book. I loved how it was written. Getting the POV of the main people. She made it easy to love and hate them all. Lucy has a big family and it took me a good part of the way to remember who was who. By the time I needed to know I did. Liv is the big sis we all want. Greg is the protector, Hannah well she needs help. And Dan don’t you get me started on DAN. Oh and there is Ethan I want to feel bad for him but then again I don’t there is more to this boy then meets the eye. He had a rough life and the Estmonds think of him as one of their own but him and Lucy have well a complicated past.
So here the Estmonds are burying their father although he doesn’t do what he should staying behind to tell Lucy of a prophecy that she is the chosen on. That is where jack come in he there to kill Lucy as she is the one who will end the Reapers. But Jack just doesn’t want to be bothered. So his mom who is the head of the Reapers sends his BFF that’s where stuff gets good. And by good I mean you won’t put this book down and will but up till 3am reading and I’m not giving anything else away.
So in ending yes you need to buy this book. Yes you need to read it, and yes you will love it. I can’t think Jennifer enough for such a great book. This is a great book with drama and lust and love and fighting and all the in-between stuff. So pick up today sit back and enjoy the read!

I loved the whole story line in this book. I love the fact of the Keeper and the Reaper jobs. They have the connection that I would love to have. I want more of Lucy and Jack and can't wait to read the next book. I like Jacks playfulness and his whole persona.
