My husband picked this title out for me months ago and I finally got around to reading it thanks to a free copy of Volume 1 via the store Prime Reading. It a great story. For me, it's kind of like a mash up between Manifest Destiny and Adventure Time.

Definitely a good read!!! I bought this for my little sister when she was sick on a recommendation and didn't read it before giving it to her and she told me that I had to read it. So I did. Totally worth it!

This was a fun comic that made me think back fondly on my summers as a kid and friends I made at camp. Of course, I never went to a camp where there were hipster yetis and badges for buns, but that's what makes Lumberjanes so good! Loved it!

I picked this up because of all the positive reviews this series has gotten. But when I read it, I had a hard time getting into it. It's a nice and cute read with charming artwork but it wasn't for me. This series seems like it was written for the upper elementary and middle school age group. If I was younger, then maybe I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Overall, this is a good comic for the elementary to middle school demographic.

Not a comment of the quality of the book, but I details of this page suggest that it is Vol 1. and over a hundred pages. In fact it is just Issue 1 available for digital download and only 20 pages long

I LOVE Lumberjanes so, so, so, so so very much. It's adorable, the art is so cute and clean and unique, the story is fun, it's a FREAKING FEMINIST SUMMER CAMP. The comic itself is perfection...but the quality is horrible. The pages were folded and creased, there was some weird brown liquid smeared on the back: disguising! The envelope it was shipped in folded and crumpled the comic and the packaging was ripped. It had obviously been read, and not gently. I'm so mad that I paid this much for a horribly treated comic. I really love the Lumberjanes serious, and it is rather expensive, so the fact that it came in so awful quality is astounding and disgusting to me, although I adore Noelle Stevenson and her lovely creation.

Purchased book 1 and 2 because I thought my daughter would love it. Girls at camp in a graphic novel format are right up her alley...however. I started reading them when they arrived, and then looked deeper into the reviews. The first several bad reviews were about technology issues, but then I found more. Wow...wish I would have dug deeper before purchasing. If you are a Christian, don't buy these. First off, the "field manual" in the front of the book. Pretty much a slap in God's face. As the books go further into the series, there are more and more insinuations and definite lesbian themes. I thought about re-selling these or donating them to a thrift store, but then realized I didn't want anyone else to be affected by them on my account - so they got thrown in the campfire. Take a pass on this author and find a different series. Hope this helps those who were wondering...

Not cute. Not funny. Waste of time. Giants Beware and Zita the Space Girl are much better series. No need to insert your atheism into adolescent comic books. It doesn't add to the storyline but it certainly detracts. Poorly drawn, predictable story.

Honestly, I would give it a big 0 if I could. I downloaded the sample for the Kindle in hopes that it would be a new series for my daughter, and maybe even a year end gift for the girls in our Girl Scout troop. The first three pages of the sample had the feel of a scouter's handbook, and I thought that to be clever. Then I started reading the Lumberjanes Pledge - it started off very similar to the Girl Scout Law...that was until the line that looks to be hand scribbled out (looking like someone's actual handbook with doodles and such), but with the remark next to that unreadable, crossed out line, which says, "Then there's a line about God, or whatever." (See the attached image). If the author is trying to inspire girls to be strong, why is the author throwing in snarky remarks about God? She could have just as easily not even included what is likely a line about service to God as part of the pledge in the first place. Needless to say, I will NOT be purchasing the series, from this part of the sample alone. That is a pretty low down way of putting the seed of doubt into a young girl's head about her religion.
And of course, since it's against Christianity, it's ok and acceptable, because hey, we're the "old fashion" ones who need to "get with the times."
Good luck with your series, Noelle. Maybe you'll see the Light at some point in your life.

I don't know why its got such good reviews, it was terrible. The characters were one dimensional cardboard cut outs of "the smart one" or "the silly one", and the plot was next to non-existant. The art was cute, but that's the extent of what you'll get out of this. Ripley the small girl does nothing but jump around shouting, tall one doesn't really do anything of note, the red head, which by the way LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE GIRL ON THE COVER, is just the sensible smart one, and edgelord McGee and Helga over there on the right side serve no purpose but to shoe horn in a lesbian romance in an attempt to be "current" and "politically forward". At no point in this story did I care about any of the characters, I wanted to throw the book into the nearest trash compactor but pushed onward in hopes of getting my money's worth. Spoiler: I didn't.

I kept coming across this series in the Junior Fiction graphic novels at the library I work at and I finally decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. The story is filled with action and fun and adventure. Each of the girls have their own strengths that help them get out of sticky situations and the characters are all very diverse. I'm excited to read the next volumes!

This book is super cute. It's wholesome. The characters are adorable and the plot is so fun. I like the focus on friendship and playing to your strengths while trusting your friends to fill in the gaps. The characters play off each other well to make a tight playful narrative that doesn't get too sappy or ever lose focus. Super recommend to any and all people.

It was such a cute story. I've never been to summer camp but I still had a sense of nostalgia while reading this. The art hoes so well with the story and I really loved the characters. I cannot wait to read more!

A lot of Lumberjanes' power, as a comic, comes more in the implications than the stories themselves. It's got a lot to say--it just doesn't always say it directly. And it's going to be a fun time you'll have, parsing out what that is.

The story was cute, funny, and contained some wild adventures. I liked the characters, they seemed fun and I would recommend them as fictional role models for younger children. However, I didn't fully connect with the story and the characters. Perhaps that will happen in later volumes. I also would have liked a little more exposition. Overall I still liked the book and would recommend it.

Fun, simple romp. Nothing life changing, just nice art and a gravity-falls-esque thing happening (but the characters in this aren’t quite as varied, fun, or developed, but maybe that’ll come later.
