I really liked the first and the last stories. The first story was my favorite with likeable characters. The second story was a D/s story that had an interesting twist at the end. The third one was just okay.
Lost in Temptation (Regency Chase Family Series - Book 1) :: Hello Stranger: The Ravenels, Book 4 :: Unmasking Miss Appleby (Baleful Godmother Historical Romance Series Book 1) :: Twice Tempted by a Rogue (Stud Club Trilogy) :: When a Scot Ties the Knot: Castles Ever After

It's actually painful to read this. There is a lot of potential with the story line, but the dialogue is awkward and it seems as if little time was spent on editing. This reminded me of a class project that no one really wants to do. I couldn't finish reading, which rarely happens for me.

This story is about Gwen a small town girl, and Colt. Gwen had big dreams, but those changed after her boyfriend forced himself on her leaving her pregnant. He had left townhim, and joined the ARMY before she could even tell himARMY. She moved to Chicago, determined to make it on her own. Once there she was called to jury duty, when she saw Colt, who was a defendant at the time. He ended up asking her out, and she initially refused, only to agree later on. She had trust issues and had cut ties with Colt because she felt he was trying to control her, just like her ex had. Will they work out, or will he be to controlling for her. READ this book, you wont regret it. I received an ARC copy of this book and in return am leaving an honest review.

I find it very hard to get through the story. The writing is a little abrupt in places, without enough character building. Then, just when I get into the flow, the grammar throws me off. I have to backtrack to figure out what is meant. Not sure I will finish the book, or read her again. Sad really. With proper editing, it can be an okay story.

Single mom Gwen, first meets Colt, and with her trust issues tries to keep him at arm's length. Colt wants her and will take no prisoners. When her ex shows up, he'll stop at nothing to keep her safe. I loved the characters. We see Gwen learn to trust again and open her heart to Colt. We see Colt learn to care about something other than his fortune, not to mention that there are those who can love you and not see dollar signs. The storyline, plot, and characters were well developed. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Mine to Protect by Sarah J Brooks was an interesting and quite intriguing book. This was a book with some drama, a touch of suspense and some romance. The characters were strong and maybe a bit scared at the same time. Gwen is a single mother who has a hard time trusting others and the handsome man in court is no different she wants nothing to do with him. Colt is a handsome billionaire who is attracted to the young woman who was on his jury and he wants to to get to know her. Gwen has some walls around her heart but Colt has plans to knock down. I recommend this book it was a great read.

**Spoilers in review** I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. So I’m giving this book 3 very reluctant stars and here’s why. Gwen was extremely unlikable throughout the book. She was over the top dramatic about everything except when she should have been, like when her ex drugs her and has sex with her when she’s a virgin. She never cuts Colt any slack from the first time she sees him in court and glares at him and treats him badly for no real reason until the end. She kept apologizing for misjudging him but she was rude and never stopped. There’s no connection between her and her best friend Bitzy or her and Colt. I liked Colt, he was good to her and had a slight 50 shades vibe in that he pampered her and wanted to do nice things for her. He never acted stalkerish except when he tracked her down to talk to her a few times. Colt and Gwen only had contact 3 times and each time ended in her acting like a psycho and running away from him. Right down to the time they pledged their love, had sex and the next day her apartment was trashed and all her stuff urinated on and she thinks it was Colt. He never acted in any way to give her the impression she jumps to of him trying to control her and stalk her.
That was a real head scratcher. Colts best friend is in a horrible accident and he’s dating Bitzy, he calls her and she rushed to the hospital. Colt had been with him all night and ran home after Bitzy got there to shower and THATS when he ran and trashed her apartment?! She never asks him or Bitzy about it. This is what Gwen thinks and she then covers up the break in and leaves Bitzy a note saying she was going back home and to “be careful around Colt and she’d understand “ it seemed bizarre to me. She never even told anyone about the break in. Plus the name is Mine to Protect, but he never really does until the end and it’s very brief. Besides a few creepy moments before she gets pregnant while dating her ex, a few hang up calls and her trashed apartment it was like her ex never existed. I kept looking for what Colt saw in Gwen but never saw it. I know she was young and had been scarred by her ex’s behavior but she was over the top cray cray and I wished the author had done more to help us like her with some redeeming qualities. What we love about the H/h in most books is that they’re drawn irresistibly to each other but there was nothing Irresistible about Gwen. Even her daughter is like a foot note in the book. Then after she had promised never to run but did Colt moves to her hometown buys a factory and secretly gives her a job and a new car. Then when his right hand man asks him who she is he says, she’s going to be my wife. So, they’ve literally met 3 times, she’s been nothing but rude and ran away all 3 times and he’s in love with her? The epilogue was also strange. I really hate to leave a less than glowing review but I had to be honest. Lots of plot holes and no character connection.

This was a great story from Sarah J Brooks. I really enjoyed the plotline of this one and that each character was so well thought out. The only reason I gave it four instead of 5 stars I felt the emotional connection was a little stilted and the book seemed to jump scenes a bit. Other than that is was a really great read! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I have not disliked a character in a long time, but Gwen got on my very last nerve, ha! But that's when you know the story you are reading is a good one because it draws you in and make you feel. I truly wanted to choke her. I know she went through heck, but wow, she really needed to grow the heck up. She's lucky Colt was so freaking patient with her because most men would not have put up with all of her drama. I did volunteer to read this awesome tale and received an ARC in order to do so. That road to a happy ending was way beyond rocky, and I really didn't think they would get there. I'm glad they did! ?

Gwen got pregnant and left alone by her one-night stand when she graduated from high school. She left home town to make a different life for herself and her child. She meets billionaire Colt during a jury duty. They start a relationship. Colt is an alpha and gets what he wants. When Gwen’s ex comes back in her life and becomes a threat, Colt will stop at nothing to protect Gwen and her baby. The story has an interesting plot. The author skillfully tells an emotional story. Great read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. Ihave read several books from this author and I enjoyed this book. It's an insta love with a HEA ending.
Gwen has moved to the big city trying to make something of herself and leave her small town and the memories behind.
Colt is a wealthy business man who always seems to have people trying to take advantage of him. He meets the beautiful Gwen and has to decide if she is trust worthy.
You can never go wrong with one of Sarah Brook's books. They are all amazing.

I received this book as as an ARC. It will start out by giving you the creeps and make you don’t who the good guy is. This is when you know you are reading a well written story. Colt knows he has found his one true love and will go to any lengths to keep her. How he does it is what makes this truly a romantic happily ever after.

She finds out she's pregnant & tells him & then he disappeared. She has a baby girl. She keeps them in money by modeling & doing design classes. Gwen has to do jury duty. She see's Colt in court & it all comes back. She has to protect herself & her daughter. Colt wants her & his daughter but she's not going to make it easy for him. Thanks.

Gwen had big plans after high school, but when she thought she was in love, she ended up pregnant and the father ran away and left. She wanted to succeed and she did. But when she meets Coulter, she can see a future with him, but can she let go of her past and history to make it work? Will Colt understand and help Gwen through it?

This is a great story of trust, love, understanding, overcoming your past and moving forward. I received an ARC of this book from the author.

I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Counter and Gwen was well written. Gwen was head cheerleader and Paul was her first love. She gave him what he wanted a then he let to the army. She was left with a beautiful reminder of that one night. She was a strong women that did not let that stop her from living her dream. She met Coulter at a bar but you have to read the book. I whole heartedly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

Some people may said that Gwen is acting immature. But when someone can't trust people or themselves you think the worst of other.
Gwen had a stalker she didn't know. Then was raped by someone she thought cared about her. Pregnant by that man and then left alone.

Gwen moved from her small town to start a new life with her daughter. Gwen get a good job when she get a letter about jury duty. Everyone's worst nightmare in my opinion. After that thing get werid and exciting. Trying to trust but have set is crazy things happen.

However at the end everything comes to light for Gwen.

Colt is just a guy who know what he wants. However the way he goes about it might make people feel uncomfortable.

Sarah Brooks has written another great book. I enjoyed Colt the best. He may have been from money, but that did not matter because he treated everybody well. True to form this is another wonderful book by Ms. Brooks. Gwen and Coulter were terrific characters and equally matched in both stubbornness and loyalty. This book was good but it was STUPID also. True enough stuff happened to Gwen in her life, but to be stupid and judgemental regarding everything bad that happened to her or Colt. No woman would jump to conclusions regarding a man and run and then not say anything to him. Come on now! That man had done nothing to her but showed her he wanted her and she treated him like that. Paul, the baby daddy ain't even do anything to her but sleep with her and leave! None of this would cause a woman to act like she was. It got to a point, I started skipping pages just to read the end. She ran after every time they slept together. This book was STUPID and please don't write another book like this.

Mine to Protect

Good story. The main female character came across as a very insecure and somewhat immature person. The main male character was definitely an alpha type but initially seemed overbearing and arrogant. As time went on he appeared to be a very steadfast person and extremely dedicated to those he cared for. There were other characters in the story who also stood out, the best friends of each of the main male and the main female; as well as the main male character`s personal assistant. The character development was great. This story, in the end, left me with a lovely feeling in my tummy from the very romantic main male character. I will have to watch out for further books by Ms. Brooks!

A very sweet story with lots of romantic suspense on the part of the paranoid main female character. I had my suspicions on what was actually going on behind the scenes of the story--but you must read it yourself to get the full impact of the plot. What an entrancing read from beginning to end. This is one author who consistently writes captivating storylines with appealing characters. Gwen was the all around popular girl and a cheerleader at her high school. She had dreams of leaving her small town home for the big city and saving herself for marriage. However, sometimes things do not always go as they are planned. She falls for Paul during the summer after her graduation and after a tumultuous night, he seduces her and takes her virginity. When she informs him of her predicament, Gwen is told that he left to join the Army. Soon after that, Gwen leaves and takes her young daughter with her. With Gwen’s life looking up and getting a new job in the big city, she is called to serve jury duty. From the second she eyes Colt, the defendant, she believes he is guilty of the charges. Colt is a billionaire who only has eyes for Gwen from the moment he sees her and tries to get her to go out with him. When she finally acquiesces and they have their first date, things change and Gwen does everything in her power to get rid of him, to no avail. Colt is like a dog with a bone and very tenacious. However, when it appears as if Gwen has a stalker and she feels threatened, she runs away. Will Colt go after Gwen and get to the truth as to why she keeps running away from him? Is Gwen capable of dealing with her past and able to stop pre-judging everything for the worst-case scenario? Will Colt and Gwen be able to have the relationship they both desperately want? This is one book to one click and start reading. I cannot wait for the next book from this author.

Graduation is the time for new beginnings. Gwen is graduating and has hopes of creating a new life for herself as a model in the big city. Paul Romano had used her and thrown her away once he found out that his graduation night "celebration" with Gwen had produced a responsibility he had no intention of accepting. Alone and hurt, Gwen moved on and got a job in a high fashion boutique where her clothing allowance bought her a beautiful, new wardrobe. Her first day of work, however, she is called to jury duty. Coulter Stillman is the owner of a construction company that is being charged with negligence. All it takes is a moment for him to spot Gwen and be drawn into her orbit. She has made the mistake of judging all men against all that was horrible with Paul. She can only get past that with the help of a special man. Colt wants nothing more than to protect her and hope that, in time, she can trust and love him. Her daughter Carrie is a joy and best friend Bitsy supports her and calls her out when she's not being realistic. Gwen admits to herself that she's messed up and it's not that she does not NOT like Colt...she simply needs to get back to trusting in men and knowing that they won't harm her. Colt has his work cut out for him. Honesty, openness and caring are what she needs and he's going to prove he's just that man. When Gwen finds herself in real danger, Colt's love shines through and he knows that she is his to protect. Wonderfully written with characters that jump from the page!

Gwen was a senior when Paul Romano appeared in her life. Paul has been obsessing over her for 2 years before he invaded her life. Gwen being naive let him in and after a night together she gets pregnant, but when Paul found out about the baby he left her and join the Army.
A year or so later, Gwen is trying to stand on her feet in Chicago and trying to find a job to provide for her little girl. After being called for jury duty, she meets Colt, the one the lawsuit is against.
Colt is fascinated by her but she’s pushing him away, not wanting to be hurt again by a man. An attraction is formed between, while strange things begins to happen.
Who is after Gwen? Can Colt really protect her?
A story full of ups and downs. The mistrust Gwen showed Colt all the time was kind of frustrating, because he wasn’t anything but good to her.
At the end the book felt a little hurried but overall it is a good read!

I wish I could give 4.5 stars. First, I have to warn that the Prologue has some triggers that almost had me putting the book down. Had Paul been the male lead throughout the book, I would not have finished it. Paul was a stalker who wouldn't take no for an answer. However, once I got into the story, I was thrilled to see Colt as the real love interest. Though Colt too has a stalker-ish streak it wasn't malicious. Gwen, our heroine, reads as a little naive. But know the circumstances, it makes sense. The characters are well fleshed out and the story has organic flow. It's a great read.

I received an ARC of this book and leaving a voluntary review. This was a decent book even though at times was wondering if I missed something since jumped from one thing to the next. Gwen has trust issues which seemed over the top at times. Colt saw what he wanted and went after it. He may have came on too strong but at least he made Gwen see how she was blocking herself from life. You would also think since she was so worried about Paul she would have kept better track of him.

I enjoyed this one as I got further into it. The beginning with Paul was a little unsettling for me. It did form the attitude of Gwen towards men but I think she took it a tad to far with trust issues and running out on Colt all the time. To see Colts alpha male character melt and show so must emotion was a great touch. Bring Paul character back the way she did was a little bit confusing because it really never rounded up to make sense. Voluntary review

The ideas in the story overall were good. The characters interesting. But the story was very disjointed. The thoughts were distinct but the words didn't flow smoothly together. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters. I really didn't care about them either. The only time I felt somewhat interested was when it was clear she was in trouble early on in the story. After that there was a lot of verbiage but I was disconnected from what was happening to the characters. It just seemed as if there were little stories within the whole story but it didn't flow together to make a complete storyline. The reader hears about each person and the difficulties they are dealing with but the emotional connection to the reader and between the characters seems to be missing.

I requested an advanced copy in order to provide an honest review. I really wanted to like this book. The premise was there but I never felt that the author really allowed the reader to understand what was really going on inside the heads of the characters. Where was the emotional grief that would have pulled the reader into the story and made us feel for her after she left Paul in the beginning of the book? The thing that seems to be missing are the emotions...love, sorrow, humor, despair, etc. The only thing that came across was fear.

Gwen became pregnant after graduating from high school. She moves with her daughter, from the small town she grew up in, to Chicago. Colt notices Gwen when she is one of the jurors on a case where his company is being sued for negligence. He continues to pursue her over and over until they ultimately have their HEA.

What kept me from buying into the plot, and ultimately enjoying the story, was Gwen’s character. She’s mature enough to secure a job in fashion that is the start of a good career. Yet, she’s naïve enough to believe that a man worth millions/billions would vandalize and desecrate her personal property to make her dependent on him. She never reports or discussed this with anyone. There are other decisions she make that, in my opinion, after a while cannot be explained by her being a small town girl who had been hurt when someone she didn’t really want to be around abandons her after she tell him she’s pregnant. It was also difficult for me to buy into Colt’s persistence in view of Gwen’s actions.

I received an advance copy of this book and am I voluntarily leaving a review.

The female is a complete idiot and the guy more so for continuing to try to get her back. I love out there over the top stories but this was even too far fetched. The writing was stilted. None of the characters came across as that bright, very immature and often annoying. It was like a bad movie, or a train wreck, you just couldn’t look away but had to see how the ending went. Just like those movies I regret finishing it.
