I have just discovered Lauren Royal and am very satisfied with her style, description and pace of her books. Her characters are amusing and interaction is also great leading to my wanting to read the next story in the family vault!

I've read three of your books so far and I am so excited for the next one. Although I'm miffed that I can't find the measurement equivalents for the recipes from this book! I pity my kitchen when I get to trying to figure it out. Is there any order I should be reading the books in or can I just pick at random?

I was a little sad to read this book as I thought it would start the with other trilogies. I want to know what happen the chase's children and what happened in-between the 200 years that passed with these books, so far it is a wonderful book, but I'm still wondering about the other character's from the flower and Jewel trilogies.

I loved this book! From the beginning you are cheering for the two main characters. Then there is a twist in the plot and you think everything is figured out and the wham! Another twist in the plot before a very sweet and touching ending.

Though I did feel the need to finish the book I felt it was missing something. It just didn't pull me in. I liked the characters and the story but the way some authors can really elicit a deep connection or feeling was missing here.

I really don't know if I like this book or not, I don't remember reading it, but I just started to read another book by this author and found that is was a "clean" version of this book. I checked and I have both versions on my Kindle. I couldn't find anywhere on the the store description page for this book that says it is also available under another title so I thought potential buyers should know what they are getting. The clean version file is quite a bit smaller so they must have taken a lot out to make it clean. The title of the other book is "Alexandra: A Sweet Historical Romance (Regency Chase Brides Book 1". There are two more "clean" books in the series that are edited copies of other titles by the author also, so be careful what you are buying.

i stopped reading halfway through the book, which is something i usually never do. i will stick it out til the end, but this book didnt do it for me. for a romance novel there wasnt a whole lot going on. there was the constant chase and denial of the main characters love, and when they finally hook up i wasnt impressed. i liked the little notes about the family reciepes, but didnt feel they belonged in the book. i guess it was more of a sweet sorta book then steamy. im a steamy kinda gal ;)

There was never a dull moment in this story--every page was a reason to keep reading. I actually didn't want the story to end. Ms. Royal is right up there with Kathleen Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsey.

Wow, was this book boring.
It’s about Alexandra and Tristan. Alexandra is a lady who likes to bake things and wear blue dresses. We know she is “traditional,” because other characters tell us so. A lot. Tristan used to live in Jamaica and his family is dead. He was poor, but then his sickly rich uncle died and Tristan inherited everything. Despite the fact that Tristan was never charged with his uncle’s death, because there’s absolutely no evidence that Tristan had anything to do with it, all of good society has chosen to snub him anyway. Because he might be a muuuuurderer! I guess that’s what passed for entertainment in the pre-Internet age. The first half of the book is Alexandra and Tristan thinking that maybe they should kiss and then deciding, eh, better not. When they finally do get together (spoilers?) Alexandra decides she’s going to solve the non-murder and clear Tristan’s name. In the middle of all this a group of adults have a conversation about a dead disabled child they continually refer to as a “monster.” It was a simpler time. The second half of the book picks up speed a bit, as Alexandra starts talking about topics other than dresses. She’s trying to solve a maybe-murder! But it isn’t much of a mystery, as everything is so obviously choreographed. It just serves to make Alexandra and Tristan seem very stupid. I was able to finish the book, so it wasn’t the worst, but I’m glad it was free!

Firstly, loved the receipes before each chapter, secondly, loved all the characters. The development of each was wonderful, a bit predictable, but then again not so in some cases Also loved the descriptions of places, clothes, jewelery, wine growing, gaslights and all things of the period. Can't wait to read next book, and will definitely go to Ms Royal's web site.

I download a lot of free books, and most of these books are pretty tedious, this one was I actually finished. I don't think I would read any additional books from this series, seemed a bit predictable, but there were some twists and turns.

This book didn't pull me in at all -- I'll confess I probably read about 10% of it and then quit. I quit at the point where Alex, our heroine, decides that now she can marry the man she has loved for 7 years (I believe it was 7 -- from ages 15 to 21? 22?) now that he has a TITLE! Of course, she has always loved him (despite his absence for 7 years), but was willing to marry another individual (who now looks wan and sallow compared to her beloved) who was a lord, but now she is free to follow her heart. Blech!! I'd hate to be the man she marries is all I can say -- she's able to love someone (and by that I mean declare to her sisters that he's off-limits as she intends to marry him) now that he has a title, but, before, well, it wouldn't have been socially acceptable. That poor guy.
