I have not tread it yet but the quality of the pages just wins me over! It is exactly how I want my future book to be so to have this an example is so amazing! Now when I do read this book after writing my boring papers to finish my Masters, a part of my life will be complete. The content will meet the standards of the physical book but superseded it 100 times over. Happy to be part of team super!

OKAY THIS BOOK SHOULD COME WITH THE FOLLOWING WARNING:
WARNING: This book may change your life.
With beautifully written chapters with a touch of emotion and a side of awesome sauce humor, this book is a must have for everyone no matter if you are a student, production manager, office assistant, or president of the USA. I loved Lilly from her Youtube channel (iiSuperwomanii) and this book makes me feel I know Lilly personally, which I love so much. She is such a strong person with many beautiful lessons to share. This book has been a coach to me as I try to become a Bawse like her.

1. I'm a long-term fan of Lilly's videos, especially vlogs.
2. I adore her and respect her career and hustle.

- with that being said - I preordered this book in December - long before it was released.

First, it was hard for me to read it - I had to take breaks between chapters to process 80% of pure narcissism with 20% legit good advice. The last thing I expected having watched almost all of her vlogs and videos. If I wasn't already a fan I would've not probably gone past the first few chapters, because it's so overwhelming how full of herself she comes off in the book and I really, REALLY tried to overlook it and only pay attention to the positive things I learned. If only it didn't come with an ode to herself...

I would definitely recommend it for teens.

For mature audience - only if you're fine separating the wheat from the chaff.

Disappointed in this book. I bought it because it was a New York Times Best Seller and I really wanted to like it, however, the whole thing consists of painfully basic analogies and cliches that fill 300 pages. I found myself repeatedly asking "is that really the best comparison she could come up with?"... The basic-ness and cliches filled the book and I feel angry I spent so much to be told things like my "life is like a video game" and then have it explained why for another 5 pages. Spend your money on Think and Grow Rich, How to Win Friends and Influence People, or Tools of Titans; you'll actually learn something and walk about feeling enriched and inspired.

Yes, I did read this book before writing this review. Well, technically I listened to it. With books like these, I prefer to hit up Audible and download the audiobook. It’s just that much more personalized having the author read her words to me. So, yes, you are reading a review by someone who actually “read” the book.

A little background on me: I’m a 30 year old female. I’m not in Lilly’s largest demographic. Does that give my review a little more credence? *shrugs* Maybe. You decide. Please don’t think I’m trying to downplay or discredit any of the other reviews for this book. I’m not. I just know that it can be frustrating to research a book I might want to read, only to click through the reviews and find a million of them written by youngsters rating and reviewing a book they haven’t even read. No offense to you younger people, but let’s be real, those reviews, while heartfelt, are unhelpful.

Now that that boring part’s over, on to the book review. As I said at the start, I listened to the audiobook version, so I can’t comment on the quality of the physical edition, but I can say that this book is absolutely Lilly. (That’s L-I-L-L-Y.) The book is surprisingly well-written. I can’t remark on typos, but the vocabulary and flow are really on point. Did I expect anything less? Maybe a little, if only because I hold a cynical opinion about the fad of YouTuber books. But I’ll digress before I go on too long about that. Lilly’s trademark wit and humor are all over this thing. I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy of Bawse and actually take the time to read it. If you’re not a regular reader, it’s not exactly a short read at 336 pages (according to the store), but eh, length is relative and each chapter is fairly short on its own.

Some of her advice sounds easier in theory than in practice. Never have a Plan B to follow your Plan A, and force deadlines, for example. Both sound completely terrifying to me, but if it works for someone else, who am I to judge that it’s bad advice? It got Lilly to where she is and she’s sharing it because it worked for her. While not a memoir in a traditional sense, Bawse is how Lilly became Superwoman. She talks about her failures and her successes, turning the former into learning experiences and teaching you that there is no correct way to live life. You just gotta work hard and follow your dreams. This is not your typical “YouTuber book.” It’s not a biography nor is it a work of fiction. The takeaway from this is that hard work and hustle are how you succeed at your dreams.

Lilly touches on her depression in this book. As someone who is presently living with depression, these parts really touched me. They’re very relatable moments. They’re brief but poignant. You get the flashback to how she felt back in 2010 and on the verge of giving up on life, then it flashes forward to the present where the grey clouds are gone and she’s so happy with her life now. It’s very uplifting and makes me want to strive for that kind of success. While I would love to succeed in my own endeavors, at the top of my list is to overcome my own depression. These parts of Bawse are my favorites in particular.

To the parents wondering if this book is appropriate for their child. Quite honestly, yes, it is. Lilly doesn’t use profanity. She’s not always a “kid friendly” internetainer, but she’s never vulgar or rude (this is, of course, a matter of opinion). The most risque thing she’s said is she wishes she was scissors so The Rock would smash her. Not awful, in my opinion, and honestly I don’t know how likely it is that a kid will understand that joke. Use your own discretion. At most I would say her content is PG.

Specifically for the audiobook version, Lilly even has guests/friends narrating. Kunal Nayyar (from The Big Bang Theory), Lindsey Stirling (another YouTuber), and Alicia Keys (a musician). They each read a chapter. Again, I can’t say how this translates to the physical copy, but I thought the guest narration was a cool inclusion. The downside to having the audiobook is the lack of all the cool photos. I’m very tempted to purchase a physical copy for that sole reason. The audiobook quality is very good, by the way.

I would give this book a 4.5, but since the store doesn’t yet allow half stars, I rounded up to 5 stars. Motivational books aren’t typically my go-to, but this one is very real and raw and honest and, of course, it doesn’t hurt that it was written by a very likable author.

Finally, as a fan of Lilly, I just want to tack on a short message to her, with the slim chance that she’ll see this. Thank you for being a positive inspiration for me, Lilly. One day I hope to turn my negative mindset completely around like you did. Until then, thank you for sharing your happiness with the world.

When I bought this book, I'd never heard of Lilly. I've still never seen one of her videos. And I'm older. Lilly would have me in a rest home, according to the way she (gently) talks down to people in my age group. Despite having found this book merely by accident, I'll admit Lilly has some good things to say, but only for the young, healthy, ambitious other girls like her who've never had a serious, life-threatening or life-altering crisis.

She got her undergrad degree and then, still living with Mommy and Daddy, decided to skip getting her Master's Degree -- choosing a "career" in YouTube instead. And, still living with Mommy and Daddy, she set out to succeed at it.

When did a social media site become a "career opportunity?" I'm amazed by the things kids can do today to become celebrities. Not experts on anything, not working in fields of value, but doing things just to become a celebrity. I remember people having to be quality people who did a lot -- years and years, even decades -- of quality work before ever having their face or name seen or heard anywhere. This instant stardom is new to all generations before Lilly's.

The book gives basic advice about how to create a (possibly temporary) empire while in your twenties. That's valid. But Lilly apparently has never had a sincere relationship, a child, or otherwise experienced life as a human in the real world instead of a shiny airbrushed image in a video or on a book cover.

I don't get it.

For those of you old enough to visit a bar -- those of you who want to avoid real life and move right along to a social media "career" -- try checking out books for adults that don't contain endless slang and chapter after chapter of "and then I did this" -- books like "Hustle" and "Reinvent Yourself." You'll get the basics of lasting success building without the temporary "Ooooh, and so-and-so was there!" childish drivel of Lilly's book, and you might learn to create a business/life that actually includes . . . life. Something that lasts.

Who am I to talk about this? I came from an abusive family that I parted from out of life-or-death necessity at eighteen. I had a child at nineteen. I had real relationships -- my current one has lasted thirty-five years so far. And yeah, I hustled and succeeded at what I wanted to do -- be part of the L.A. live theatre scene. I know all the tricks in Lilly's book. I figured them out for myself.

So, although Lilly has some good advice (especially in light of the fact that she's a YouTube name right now, with an obvious passion for becoming a Movie Star), I wouldn't base my life on anything she has to say. She may turn into somebody of value, and she may be a flash in the pan. Time will tell and, hopefully, Lilly will learn that sometimes life kicks you so hard and so many times that life simply can't always be plans and dreams and schemes.

I read a lot of business and personal development books, and enjoy and learn from the likes of Tim Ferris, Chris Guillebeau, and the whole 99u/Scott Belsky empire - all of whom I respect and find fascinating. As a business owner, a woman in technology (hardware) and working at a large engineering company simultaneously, I understand the meaning of 'hustle' and wow, does Lilly ever hustle - and I've learned so much from her, namely that wisdom has nothing to do with age. She's smart, witty, and has great tips in this book. It's rare to find a book which can easily be read and appreciated by both a teen, a person in the middle of their career, and someone reinventing themselves later in life, and this is it.

It has advice, starting from the first chapter, which is half (un)common sense, and half easily digestible reminders of why hard work, kindness and consideration are such important values. Many of the other business and personal development books I've read refer to strategies or practices which are not necessarily realistically attainable for everyone, and of course, it's not meant to be, one should pick and choose what works for them and experiment to find out how to use the lessons. In contrast, everything in this book - and much of it is practical, action oriented activities - are things you can do right here, right now, to change your outlook, change your behaviours, and challenge yourself to be better, and stronger. A simple example, #CheatCode1: "Maybe they're having a bad day" is something that is so overlooked in everyday communication, business life, and interpersonal interactions. Sometimes it is you - and then the rest of the book covers great right-here-right-now exercises for how to address that, but sometimes, people are just having a bad day. It is simple - but with all the thousands of in-depth, complicated recipes for success out there, it's somehow quite refreshing to jump into this passionately written book, and gain some straightforward reminders of how to be a good human being, how to challenge yourself, and how to conquer life. Thank you Lilly for putting your heart and soul into this book, I think everyone could benefit from reading this.

I think I should start of by letting you know I have never watched any of Lilly Singh YouTube videos. I didn’t know who she was when I picked this book up at my library, but I was completely drawn to the cover and I love the word Bawse so I needed to read it.

This book is told by Lilly who is a YouTube star and she goes through the guiding principals of how to make your life better. It is set in 50 short chapters that are no longer then a page or two with different topics on things to focus on to make you more successful.

Lilly picks a very vast number of topics from business life to personal life on how to be successful. I enjoyed how she would share anecdotes of how they relate to her personal life and gave examples of what she did to overcome any challenges.

The book felt extremely organized and well thought-out. I felt the different chapters flowed nicely together and gave me a complete picture of what point she was trying to get across.

My favorite section of the book was by far the fear of missing out on something while preparing for another event. I do feel this was something while growing up that is harder to learn that it is ok to miss out on things when you are working hard towards an end goal.

I don’t think any of the advice is life shattering, but there are several topics that would make you evaluate what you are doing with your life. She has good strategies on how to approach situations.

I do suggest reading the hardcover copy as the pictures are great!

I would suggest this as a weekend read I felt the book was very light and it was easy to read on the couch over the weekend.

I wouldn't rate myself as a diehard Team Super member. Don't get me wrong. I definitely am a fan of Lilly Singh and have been watching her vlogs and videos for a while now. I even went to one of her book signings, but I am not the one who showed up in a unicorn onesie (not that there is anything wrong with that). I absolutely think that she is an inspiration. Her strong work ethic and compassion is beyond what many could achieve.

I'm very proud of her accomplishments thus far. In this case, "How to be a Bawse" is your typical self-help/memoir book that is told by Lilly herself. If you watch her vlogs, then you know it is written exactly how she would speak. Her random jokes, interesting analogies, and few tangents... All in all, her personality is definitely captured in the narrative. A lot of lessons are pretty basic and have been told time and time again by multiple self-help authors. However, it was interesting to see her unique experiences and celebrity encounters that helped her learn these said lessons and helped her grow. I particularly liked the "Out of the Blue" sections in the book. The parallelism of two different years of her life and her thoughts changed so drastically. It gave me hope that what I am experiencing now is only temporary and can improve in 8 years. I know it'll take a lot of hard work, but I am hopeful for success.

This was a very easy read with many short chapters. The one that really intrigued me was "Understand Priorities" because I feel like that was a lesson very close to my heart and a unique lesson. All her other lessons were generally something that I hold as value already to myself (perhaps Lilly is my soulmate, haha). Similar to Lilly's situation with her performance in Boston for "A Trip to Unicorn Island," I also have the same issue with getting frustrated at other people due to a difference in priorities. This happens in personal and professional relationships. You can't impose your ideals on others. It may be a basic fact for others, but to me, it was eye opening. It'll be a journey, but I will definitely work on accepting that not everyone cares about what I do. As long as at the end of everyday, the other people aren't committing illegal or immoral activities and are getting their job done, I should just respect their priorities.

Anyway, I just wanted to express how proud I am of her and hope to see her delve deeper and write an autobiography one day. She definitely put a lot of money, time, and consideration into this book. The pages are hefty and beautiful, and the book is filled with creative pictures and a clean design. I am a sucker for nice packaging and attention to details.

This is an easy and quick book to read to give you the inspiration and incentive to work hard to be a BAWSE.

I was skeptical about read this for a couple of reasons:
1) I'm older than her so I'm like what could she possibly have to say that I will learn from and
2) the font was mad small LOL...

However, two things enticed me:
1) the glossy pages and
2) the DOPE ASS cover under the jacket!

Yo! I've never been so hyped about reading a book in public. I stayed reading the book with the spine facing any person that was around me. This lead me to met a Unicorn on the bus!

The book was dope. There are 50 chapters but none of them are more than 5 pages long (2 pages front and back). This made it made it easier to read. You could say, "I'll just read two more chapters." (you'd probably end up reading 4). Even though, I'm older than her and on my own road to Bawse-dom, there were some take-aways from this book that I can implement. I highly recommend this book.

When I heard that Lilly Singh was writing a book, I was over the moon. I already watched her videos, followed her vlogs, and stalked her regularly on Instagram, so another form of art to receive her voice in was a necessity for me. I was already fascinated by the positive outlook Lilly had on life, and sooner rather than later I began to apply some things I saw her do in her vlog in my own life. For example, one day in her vlog (I remember it clearly) she said something along the lines of, "Stop, stop, stop everything for a few minutes and think of five things that you should be so grateful for that you often take for granted." I paused the video, and did so. Afterwards I felt like my eyes had been opened in a major way. When was the last time I thought of how cool it was that I had a refrigerator? Or a washing machine and a dryer? Lilly also said something else in a vlog that really spoke to me. She was having a rough day and was really confused as to why she was feeling a certain way. Then, she stopped herself and said, "No, this is how I am feeling right now, and I need to accept that this is what's happening for me in the present moment." Wow. She wasn't fighting with herself or trying to "fix" her emotions, she was simply meeting herself wherever she was at the exact moment. Nothing more, nothing less. This is something I often struggle with, and now whenever I am feeling anxious or uneasy I remind myself this is simply where I am at right now, and it will pass.

I should probably talk about the book now. :) I am an avid book reader and was expecting big things from Lilly, and convinced myself I would try to read the book as if I didn't know who Lilly was. I didn't want to like it automatically because she was one of my idols. That was really hard, though. I honestly think that anyone at any age can gain a boatload of wisdom from what Lilly shares in her book. After reading it, when I'm having a tough day, I remember that I am in control of my mind, and I just have to "Play Nintendo." When I am headed into an audition, I remember to "Be Santa, because he always has presence."

What was truly my favorite part however, was the "Out of the Blue" sections. As someone who struggles with anxiety, it is simply spectacular to hear a story of someone who turned on the light, made a change, and became not only a happier person, but someone fully dedicated to spreading happiness. Not to mention her phenomenal #GirlLove campaign, which is a fight against girl-on-girl hate and for gender equality. Please get "How to Be A Bawse" and devour advice that will stick with you for a very, very long time. One love, Superwoman, that is a wrap, and zoop!

-Maya

There is a lot of wisdom and wit in this book, especially for anyone willing to put in the time and put Lilly's advice to work. I found the book entertaining and easy to read with its share of today's pop-culture references, but there are also some real gems as told mainly through Lilly's experiences in dance and YouTubing. Many of the other reviewers may have already been a Lilly Singh fan prior to the book. I am the opposite, however. Her book is what turned me on to Lilly Singh on YouTube, not the other way around. Lilly is creative, artistic, funny, hard working, successful, visionary, and a true help for anyone wanting to pursue their dreams and willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears necessary to achieve one's goals. This is a short and fun read that would be useful to pick up and peruse on days you're feeling down. Thank you, Superwoman, for showing us how to be a bawse.

This is a gentle mixture between a memoir, where we get to see a little bit more of the woman behind the Youtube sensation Superwoman, and a well thought out self-help book. I would recommend getting the audiobook as well, Lilly Singh being her quirky self while reading the book was just the cherry on top, I also loved the hardcover with all the photos and quotes, and you could see all her hard work come to life.
With Lilly’s unique personality, I have to say she got me all riled up and ready to make changes in my own life. At the end of each chapter, there are a couple of steps that you can follow to help you improve yourself. I am not saying this will be the case with everyone, but she does help you reflect on this, and plant that seed that will help you make the relevant changes in your life.
The photo’s inside and the way that it is laid out is really stunning.

I found this book the other day in a small bookstore here in New Orleans. I like the feel of books and the places around town are wonderful for identifying jewels..I must say that this is the most direct and thoughtful motivational collection of ideas, attitude adjustments and critical analysis of 'what it takes to be everything you're capable of' (whew, is that a phrase?).....Ms Singh delivers an inspiring messages over a wide range of topics that are excellent and cleverly communicated. Well done Lilly, well done...I will surely share this and get the audible version to continue my education....

The quality of the book ,pictures are amazing. So far I'm in chapter 7 and the book is making me realize a lot about how to control my mind ect. I honestly don't like some of the jokes Lilly makes when talking about some serious life situation. I get it on her videos and I like it, but not too much on the book. Specifically is a bit confusing how some examples are about movies, song, and stuff that don't really matters. I know she still growing as a person and as I writer. I will finish the book and still support her. But I just hope like she say on her videos she keep growing mentally. I love you Lilly ,is just my opinion.

Lilly Singh is Superwoman. Seriously, her media handle is iiSuperWomanii. She has built a following of more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube, along with hundreds of thousands (if not more) views. With all of the hard work and dedication needed to accomplish this, it is only fitting that she write a book dedicated to the art of the hustle.
The book itself is straight forward, filled with color, and with a clear, no-fuss message: If you want to be successful, put in the work. While some of the ideas Singh offers up to inspire the readers work ethic are simple and common sense, most are refreshing takes on old adages that some could argue (particularly after reading How to Be a Bawse) are in need of a serious update.
Take her chapter “The Alphabet is a Lie” as an example. In it, Singh talks about always being told to have a backup plan. Pretty standard advice, right? However, instead of following the age-old recommendation, Singh decided to completely invest in her dream and focus 100% on being a YouTube creative. I was a bit skeptical of the advice at first, but after I finished the chapter, she had me convinced. When you have a plan A and a plan B, you aren’t able to commit 100% of your effort towards what you really want (most likely plan A) and aren’t as successful because of it. Sounds intimidating, terrifying, and unsound, sure. But Singh has arguably used it with resounding success.
How to Be a Bawse is a must read for anyone in need of a little encouragement, feeling a bit stuck, or just wants to be entertained and perhaps learn a little while they’re at it. Whatever the reason, any reader will finish this book with tools to be used, not just survive, but to conquer their life. I feel Singh will soon be able to add Best-Selling Author to her already admirable list of accomplishments, and I, for one, couldn’t be more pleased to support her.

I received this book from audiobook and I am buying the hard cover as I write this! I really think this book has helped me become more aware of myself and my abilities. I always want to start something, but struggle to finish. Maybe out of fair of failure but sometimes I fear success just as much. As a single Mother and guardian of 3 of my nieces I always think If I fail its disappointment but if I succeed how will I be able to focus on both work and family. However as I listen to Lilly's voice she has a way of being so inspiring. Now I am writing goals down and building plans. I started working on a vison board. By the way LILLY...Thank you for that chapter. Something about it made me come alive again and really inspired me to get motivated. I love love love it. There is really no other way to explain it other than It is the best of the best on motivation in my opinion.

I've heard about this Lilly Singh for a while now ( from my daughter of course) and never knew why my daughter was so obsessed. She's always talking about this girl and I honestly thought it was just another girl making money on YouTube. This Lilly Singh has recently come out with a book and of course, my daughter decided to get not one, but multiple. She just recently met her and was in tears after I picked her. I thought to myself the girl must really have and effect on her. When the books arrived I decided to read one myself. I was curious and didn't expect anything too good. I wanna genuinely say thank you. Lilly Singh I was wrong about you. To see where you've been to see how far you've come, I am so happy my not always happy daughter found you. You've changed her life and mine. Your book was way better than my expectations and I'm honestly disappointed I didn't read it sooner. You've encouraged me to improve things within myself that I didn't even know I could of. This is a great read for everyone no matter who you are, what you go through, and who you want to be.
P.S. I just subscribed;)

I found the chapters a bit too short, the average was 3 pages. However in as much as I dont like self help books I found myself enjoying the book. You can really tell she put a lot of work in the book, there are 50 chapters and each with a different theme/message but they somehow tie together without being repetitive. I've found other self help books repetitive so that was a good thing with her's.
Very easy to read and light hearted but still very deep life lessons.

SHORTLISTED - 2017 NON-OBVIOUS BUSINESS BOOK AWARDS!

There is no shortage of guide books to career and life success written by influencers whose sole career bullet point involves creating videos that have amassed millions of fans and followers. Many of them are naïve and forgettable attempts to cash in on fleeting popularity. This book is different.

The 50 chapter titles sum up the irreverent voice of the book: Don't give away all your secrets. Call yourself out. Commit to your decisions. Schedule inspiration. Not everyone hates you. Understand priorities. Be unapologetically yourself. You are a chameleon.

Ultimately what makes this collection of tips so readable and worthwhile is the authenticity of the author that comes through in her writing just as it does in her videos. The book actually feels like you're sitting down and getting advice from Singh herself, which is presumably the reason why anyone would want to read it in the first place.

This is the perfect non-obvious business book holiday gift to give the up-and coming professional in your life.

This book was Shortlisted as part of the Non-Obvious Business Book Awards. These awards are curated by the team at Non-Obvious Company, led by Rohit Bhargava - author of the Non-Obvious Trend Series Non-Obvious 2018 Edition: How To Predict Trends And Win The Future (Non-Obvious Series).

Got this in the Audible edition, and finished in an afternoon. There's three guest readers who recite the chapter about themselves, people Lilly attributes having a great deal of influence and impact on her. It's massively entertaining and having such amazing people on her debut book is a testament to the kind of person she is. I wasn't familiar with Lilly until very recently but her road to success is uniquely self-chronicled on YouTube and I was immediately impressed.

Start to finish, the book is well thought out and easily understood. Life lessons, professional growth, and solid emotional intelligence for those looking to get ahead in the world. The writing style is geared towards younger people but with a little effort and Google, the rest of the readership can glean the intent. Lots of chapters end with a work exercise to carry over into your life and get results, which reminds you of the book's main point - your success rests entirely on how hard you want to work for it. Hard work beats talent.

HTBAB is a fun and lighthearted combination of storytelling, emotional insight, and basic personal-growth guide. It could easily fit on a shelf with popular memoirs or with must-reads such as 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.

In fact, it may just be the "7 Habits.." for the new Generation. One relatable to a far wider audience. The biggest difference is that at any time you're looking for either more insight into the authors life OR examples of how successful she was at applying the lessons to her entertainment career, you can simply watch a few videos on her YouTube channels which are her main body of work. That's a remarkable resource and a clear sign Lilly is a savvy business woman.

I have been a fan of Lilly Singh's work for a while now (especially her parent videos LOL) and when I heard she was writing her own book to inspire other people, I was curious so i pre-ordered it. (got it for $15 with the store.ca's pre-order price guarantee!) To my surprise, the entire book is printed on glossy FULL COLORED pages! Like whaaaat??? It's not your typical boring black and white novel. It reminded me of a highschool textbook with full colored pictures...except what Lilly writes about is not boring. She captures your attention right off the bat with her witty style and humor. It's like reading a personal note from her! I haven't read the entire book yet but i already know it's going to be good. She's coming to my city for her book tour...can't wait to meet her (and I'm a 36 year old mother of 2!) haha... I will have to save this book for my girls when they get to highschool :) It's great for anyone needing a little lift or inspiration on what to do in life...great encouragement for young kids to go after what they want.

I've been a fan of Lilly's since high school, and my favorite video of her's is 5 Minutes of Motivation. Anytime my anxiety overwhelms me, that video helps me feel motivated. This book is literally a dream come true. Her advice and experiences are stirring and make me want to act, to work hard, to be a BAWSE. I was drawn to her by her comedy, but I stayed for her personality and her wisdom that absolutely shines in this book to where I feel like she is sitting down with me one-on-one.

I'm a fan of Lilly Singh but I'm gonna be honest, I was very worried this would be another half-assed, fluffy, and corny inspirational book written by a social media influencer. Thankfully, it is not that. Although I wouldn't say it was life-changing, it was definitely worth a read (or listen). I got the audiobook and I loved listening to it to and from my college classes. Her writing style is a lot like the way she speaks so it makes it enjoyable to listen to, since it feels like she is just a good friend giving you some worthwhile life advice. I like her perspective on many topics and it was very motivating for me. She really is a Super Woman!

I purchased this book in hard copy form and let me start off by saying this book is one of the best books I have ever owned. The cover and the pages have a glossy finish making the book nice to hold. There are amazing pictures inside and lots of color. That is one of the things I love, lots of colors and full pages dedicated to large text quotes from the text itself. I would recommend that the first time you read this book you read if from start to finish, but with the way the book is designed you could (and should, literally I'm taking this book to my grave,) open up to any chapter at any time and read it without a problem. I loved reading all about Lilly's ideas and thoughts. She's one of the most intelligent poeple I now call my friend because I felt like she was sitting right next to me and having a conversation with me while reading this book and part of this is because throught the book, Lilly asks you to do things. It's very interactive. This book will make you laugh because Lilly has a witty side to her. This book also made me really think and re-evaluate my entire perspective. It made me make changes I didn't realize I even needed to make in the first place. Overall I highly suggest you purchase this book and read it and take notes, and then maybe read it again because Lilly's thoughts and ideas are life changing. (P.S. My book also smelled really good.)

I LOVED this book... its definitely a book you will think about often and refer back to. I love Lilly's personality and her little quirks that you can easily feel its her that wrote this book. Its so insightful and thought provoking; it makes you step back with a different perspective. Aside from the book, I always love watching her videos, she is hilarious and always lifts me up with her great energy! She always delivers in her videos, and now with this book. I highly recommend, this girl is most def a BAWSE :)

I've been a fan of Lilly for a few years now, watching most of her videos and vlogs on her YouTube channel. The thing I liked most about her is her sincerity and her mission to always out do herself and work hard.

And that's exactly what this book is about.

It's not your typical "success story" nor is it a ghost-written book filled with fluff and motivational quotes. It's an actual blueprint to develop skills to become a better, more genuine person using her own personal experiences and her own tone. She's funny, she's smart, and this book shows a side of her that most of her fanbase (younger girls transitioning into more responsibility) need to see: a Bawse.

So if you're a parent looking to give their kid something to read over the summer, or even if you're past that stage in your life and trying to figure it all out, I 100% recommended this book (and mind you, I'm a twenty-something year old dude who has no shame in repin' what he believes in)

Think of her book as a Tony Robbins - Lite program. Or if you're not familiar with his work, think of it like an adult version of a children's book; it's fun to read and has deep messages that encourage growth, happiness, and the undeniable desire to work hard for what you want!

Lilly, i think you are a phenomenal author and honestly i feel so fortunate for knowing you, you are the type of person that i had hoped i would meet in life but never actually believed that you existed so yeah i guess ur my miracle.
You have over 11 million followers but somehow every word i read from your book feels like it was written specifically to me. You have this amazing ability to connect and engage with your fans and make each of them feel cared for, appreciated and loved. and that is a gift that keeps on giving. You have this fire and passion that you exude to all your fans and this is a rare quality that no one can ever take away from you. You manage to touch peoples’ hearts because you speak directly from yours, your honesty, drive and lack of pretense is very refreshing and encouraging to me and i would be honoured if i get to meet you one day. My 11 year old turned me on to Lilly Singh, who I had never heard of before. I found the book beautifully performed, and ideal for tweens, teens and young adults; there was even something there for me and I'm 51. She knows how to talk to that generation. BTW, Lilly, shout out from Trinidad!

If I were to describe Lilly Singh's book "How To Be a Bawse" in one word, it would be 'phenomenal.' Lilly truly is a BAWSE and a great role-model for young girls all around the world. Her book features many valuable lessons, such as conquering your mind, scheduling inspiration, and committing to your decisions in your life. I found her "Playing Nintendo" analogy amazing. She clearly expressed the important message to her audience in her book that when it comes to the game of life, YOU are the only character you can control. She really illuminates the words of her mentor, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, with the statement "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice." No one is a truer example of these words than Lilly Singh herself, as can be shown through her writing. This book is a 100% certified BAWSE book and if you don't buy it, you are honestly missing out! It is a MUST read! What are you waiting for...go buy it! :) #TEAMSUPERSEATTLE

Honestly I am not for cute Tumblr quotes or advice, especially concerning all that deep ish, unless it comes from someone very special. Well Lilly is very special to me and I received my signed copy while attending her book tour at the Mall of America and just finished it yesterday. I can honestly say this book has changed my life and is one of the best I've ever read. It's so raw and real with personal stories and some comedy. I was struggling over the last couple of months and didn't know my place in life. This helped me re-discover who and where I am meant to be. I now wake up every day, live, not just walk, through life, and will be the very best I can not only for myself and others. I may have said I would try to be a better person, but now I am. Even if you have no idea who Lilly is, give this a chance and I think you'll be surprised. This book has changed my life and maybe it can change yours too. And now I consider myself a BAWSE.

This book is absolutely amazing. It is motivation on steroids not only on how to be a better Bawse in my own passionate career as a Content Creator, but also to be a better Bawse in my everyday life. It has truly put a fire in my belly and has taken over my life. I have a hard copy and the audio version and both are "5 hour Energy For The Soul". I love the lessons in it and the encouragement to appropriate them in my own life. No one can change overnight so I go back and re-listen to chapters to help me delve deeper into my full Bawse mode. I love the honesty and the manner in which her wisdom is shared. She not only provides advice, but she also provides her experience, how she learned this lesson herself, and then provides tips on how you can apply this lesson to your own life, dreams, or problems. I seriously came across a few situations and was like how would Lilly Singh handle this? How would I as a Bawse handle this?

Let me start off by saying, that over the past few months, i have been leading an extremely depressed life. that is no longer the case and for that i owe it to Lilly. I am a middle school student and i have been bullied and ridiculed at my school and a home. i really didn't know what to do with life.
Lilly's videos did help often, but once i read the book, i felt new, like i was being born a second time. it taught me so much about myself and what i should do with my life. i reckon that this book shouldn't be classed as self-help, but it belongs in the class of books that should be mandatory for everyone to read (other books in this class are like the hunger games series)... Now, every time something happens in my life, i open the chapter of the book which pertains to it and all of a sudden, all my worries are lifted. If you are reading this lilly, all i can say is thanks for making my life a better one to live.

I found this a very tiring read. As in, I could only manage a couple chapters at a time, even though they are very short. I didn't finish the book before the library loan ended. And I'm a person who read "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" in a day.

The writing is a somewhat flippant style, with lots of asides. I'm not familiar with the author's YouTube work, so I can't say if it's like that, but I think the style would probably work pretty well on YouTube. However, when reading, it gets old fast.

I hate to say it, but maybe it's an age thing. I turn 37 in a few weeks, and maybe a reader in their late teens/early 20s is more used to this sort of style and would find it a more compelling read.

The advice itself is generally okay. It put a lot of focus on hustle and doing big, bold things, which are good things, but I think a lot of people who are more "slow and steady wins the race" types won't be attracted to the method.

To sum up, I don't think it's a bad book or bad advice, but I don't think everyone will enjoy it or find it useful.

After being a fellow unicorn for a couple years, I was so excited to hold Lilly's brain baby in my hands! Over my spring break I absorbed all the information she gave me. The book pumped me up and made me excited to impact myself and the people around me. All sorts of emotions went though me as I flipped though each page. This book is like my secret weapon and it is a true gift that I am able to have! My favourite chapters are Mold Your Failure, and Be The Dumbest. I loved how Lilly incorporated her own experiences into the chapters to show how she brought those values into her own life. I discussed the book with my mom, who had her own copy. Her only comment was that she didn't know what Game of Thrones was and The Ring and was a little confused about those references! (I Know right! Is my mom living under a rock?!) Overall, it was an amazing book and I am so proud to be part of #TeamSuper! Thank you so much Lilly!

I know you think because we're your fans that we wouldn't be honest with you. And while that may be true (because let's be real, we care for you too much to ever say anything negative), can i just say. Bawse book is genuinely.. genuinely so mf good sister. The fact that you try to incorporate lessons from your life in every chapter, just to give it that genuine reality is absolutely amazing. Anyone who follows you religiously can tell that you wrote every single word. I read every single word in your voice and I find myself laughing out loud in almost every chapter. And then on the other hand, we have them out of the blue sections that makes me emo as eff. I think I even shredded a tear in the first one. Every single bit of success this book is getting is well deserved. And to be honest, I didn't expect anything less. I'm still finishing up some chapters but I wanted to tell you my genuine thoughts thus far.

When I first bought this book I had doubts about it because I watched a few of Lilly's videos and thought she was very funny. I thought that this book was going to be a non-serious comedy book, but i was wrong. She was able to motivate you into becoming a Bawse while being funny at the same time. It shows that she has the talent of comedy even if she's writing a book. When i finished reading the book i felt like a completely different person, almost like i could conquer the world. She sends a positive message to her viewers and readers so that they could become Bawses like her.

I love this book! I recently got this book during her book tour and had the honor of meeting her as well (one of my goals accomplished). I read this book yes already as a fan who knows her but also knew I had to come into this as if I am not reading it just because I love her. I also had my friend who knew very little about her and can be a tough taco read a few chapters herself. My friend didn't want to put the book down and really enjoyed the way the book is well written and having the sense of humor that Lilly so naturally shows. Lilly's unicorn personality shines in these pages which makes this read that much better. Weather you know the author or not, this book is a great guide to help people became successful in living and conquering life. Very proud fan.

I watch Lilly's comedy style Videos but I bought this book because I have a lot of trouble with procrastinating and have a pretty pessimistic outlook on life. I didn't know what to expect but this book is amazing. I am a really fast reader so at first I read it really quickly because it was so good but then I reread it and tried to really take the book in. I read only a few chapters per day and really spent the day thinking about the writing and thinking about how I could use these lessons in my daily life. I really didn't expect her to write such a good book and I now believe I don't have to have really rich parents and go to harvard to have a good career I just need to hustle! The book is also very entertaining (for my age 15).
P.S Lilly if you ever see this you looked damm good in those pictures girrrl #sofineitcouldbeyourlookscreen

First of all... im very specific about books... I follow lilly's vlogs every single day... she always used to talk about her book and i was like... really? Should i get it? Till the last few days i was not sure. One day i was studying and the thought stroke in my mind and i was like YESSS i want that book.
When i started reading the first few pages... i was amazed. It was so relatable that i was in shock! Ive completed 20 chapters right now and EVERY chapter gives you inspiration to live your live to the fullest and be a BAWSE! Im so used to her accent of talking that i can listen her voice while reading the book in my mind!.. its very impactful and i really LOVED the book...

I can't even express how grateful I am to my sister for giving me this book for my 18th birthday. I am a Hungarian guy who has been watching Lilly's videos on YouTube since 2013. Lilly Singh is my biggest hero. I am so happy that I got the chance to read this book in hardcover as not all english books from abroad can be delivered into Hungary. Just like a BAWSE I challenged myself to finish this masterpiece in a night... which was crazy as I had to wake up at 6am and it took me more time to read it because english isn't my first language.
This books deserves more than 5 stars!!!!!

I appreciate the structure and colourful design of the book that makes it fun and easy to navigate. I also love how she not only gives great advice on what to do to not be victim to this life, but she also tells us how. Also, by sharing real life examples and life lessons she has learned thus far she really gains your trust and doesn't make you feel like you're taking advice from a stranger who just wants to make money. It feels like you're talking to a friend who genuinely wants to see you happy. And it surely doesn't hurt that she is freaking hilarious!

Wow, I'm actually amazed! Lilly wrote an amazing book here. Take my word, this is so much better than the average Youtuber book. It's so different! The advice that is in every chapter it very useful, and I'm sure you'll find something that caters to your need. The layout of the book is amazing, too! And, the concept of the book and its chapters are very unique.
Yes, I am a fan of Lilly. I even met her on this book tour. But, I'm also fans of other youtubers, and I can definitively say that their books were not nearly as good as this.
Go get this! You won't regret it.

Overall this book is amazing. Reading it to me and having also listened to it as an audio book it grabbed my attention the entire time. For me it was like watching my favorite movie/television shows. I couldn't help but be excited. Pretty sure the people driving next to me or walking past my house may have assumed something was wrong with me but I was very much okay with that, because as much as I love to read very few books grasp my attention from begging to end. Recommended it to a few of my friends and they love it as well.

While I was on the last page of the books I thought " Dayum! When she said that there's some real talk in the book she meant it" I absolutely loved that book. You can see how much work has been put into the writing. What I loved the most about the book is that the chapters were not stretched unnecessarily just to sound intelligent. If you want a book with simple language, some real motivation with a pinch of humor get the book now! I'll not say that the book will change your life but instead, you'll want to get out and get some work done to change it yourself.

You've really helped me through a lot of things over the years Lilly and I can't wait to read the rest of this book and learn how to be a BAWSE!!! Love you Lilly!!! Xoxo

This book is incredible. I've been a fan of Lilly for years now and I watch her vlogs everyday. But this book would be in my top 5 favorite books I've read even if I had no clue who Lilly was. It's truly as if Lilly went in my head, extracted my thoughts, organized them, polished them and wrote about them. Not only did she open my mind to new ideas but she made my own thoughts easier to understand and that's an experience I've never really had with a book. This is truly an amazing book that I know I will read more than once.

I bought this book in store and immediately started to read it when I got home. I couldn't put it down. I finished it in 4 hours. It is spectacular and really helpful for the situation I find myself in. I plan to re-read it several times so the information provided really sticks. Great book for those suffering with depression and hopelessness.

I cried of happiness and joy, appreciation for Lilly giving me this beautiful gift, and for all the hope I now have. I waited anxiously about a year for this book. The day it came out I set my alarm and arrived at The bookstore pro toy as the doors were unlocked. I was the first to get the book and the phones were ringing off the hook of people calling about the book which made me so proud of Lilly! This book has put me on a new path in life. It is a treasure!

Reading How to Be a Bawse was truly inspirational and eye-opening. Lilly masterfully addressed many different facets of being successful professionally and personally. This is a book that I will definitely be referring to again and again throughout my life because of the great tips she offers throughout the chapters. I actually listened to the audiobook as I read along in my physical copy and what a treat that was. It was like having a good friend and mentor give you advice!

Lilly has definitely put all of her heart and soul into this book. I can say for myself that I am not one to read often, but with Lilly's book it was not like a normal book. It is so well put together and colorful, and is very motivating. Leaving her signing yesterday from the mall of America and reading her book all night and day, I can honestly say that it is such an easy read. Plus you will learn so much from her! Great job Lilly and keep being the unicorn that you are!!

Lilly Singh is not just a YouTube star but a daughter and a sister too. This book is not just for professional people or just for the working class, it's for everyone, young and old. The book gives us many lessons to succeed in life and get through hard times. I have become a huge fan of Lilly after reading this. Looking for something fun to read or to motivate and encourage you or your child, maybe even your grandparent, then this book is for you.

I have been a fan of Lilly for years, so naturally, I am glad to have supported her novel. It contains a great deal of advice, some of it a little repetitive but mostly helpful. I thought it could have benefited from fewer pop culture references and more insight on the points themselves. She does convey her honest opinion that runs consistent with her videos.

As a self-help book, I would read this if you are in the age ranges of high school to early university years. I find her advice was geared towards very narrow approach of working to the bone for a nameless goal that seems to imply fame and riches. That would not be my idea of "conquering life". As a twenty-four year old, I found myself thinking more than once, "This is very obvious." The advice may be better suited for my much younger self.

Her many chapters dedicated to each point are steps, but I would personally have benefited from her intimate thought process of changing her mindset from negatives and unproductive to positive and productive. Some chapters touch more on this than others and provide tips, though never really digging to the root of her emotions and motivation. Perhaps that was just not the goal for this book.

Overall, it was an alright read, but will better benefit the ones looking for a similar career path.

This book is amazing. I really love this book. It shows how to keep a great attitude even when you don't feel good. I feel like Lilly is specifically talking to me. It is great and I really love it. I think it is great as a hardcover book so it doesn't break easily.

Not really what I thought it would be. She's charismatic and a self made woman who has some good advice. However her advice seems shallow at times and her stories revolve around her staff. It seems a little lacking of awareness of her audience, we aren't all well off, young and beautiful millenials here. I stopped reading after two chapters and returned to the store.

First of all: I'm not a crazy fangirl. I picked up this book because Lilly has done the things I am aspiring to do - make it big on YouTube. This book is filled with good advice on how to succeed in life in general and it's a great kick in the butt to start working hard (and smart), be kind, independent and all the things most people want to be. Lilly shares a lot of her own personal stories, which give the advice substance and it's all written in her own funny, very honest voice. This book is now one of my favorite books - a book that will get you off the couch :)

I bought 4 books and handed then out to my friends (Team Super Moms) and their mindset changed were instantaneous. One is going back to school soon after she read this book. Bawse opened my mind completely BECAUSE of the way Lilly explains each journey, each step she took to get to her path. I'm adapting each chapter in my life and I feel that I can really live my life harmoniously. Thank you, Lilly, for teaching me how to be truly happy.

I bought this because of all the great reviews I saw . I was thinking I was buying a real book . This is a small book with witty sayings , pics of the author and very shallow , and simple obvious advice . When I finished I literally had to compare the "book" I read to the picture from the reviews , thinking maybe I picked the wrong book up . I am thinking that all these reviews are from her fans of her youtube channel . Good for her for having such a loyal fanbase. But if you are in the market for an intelligent REAL book , that has truly deep meaningful things to say , skip it and wait till this gets on the bargain bin at your local barnes and noble. I have a feeling it will be in the bargain bin sooner than later.
