Pretty good. Almost a 5 but for the excessive, useless and nasty horseplay and language.
A little bit of that goes a long way. I don't have a problem with some grab-ass if it serves a purpose
but in this case it isn't germane to the story and doesn't move the narrative along.
Also the narrative seems a bit short.
And why move to a larger physical format? Just adds a lot of blank paper on each page
Still need a human spell checker - the "Florida Straight"?
Send me a pre-publication copy of Book 10 and I'll spell check it for free.
That said - this is still my favorite SHTF series.

This book kicked in high gear. Really worth the wait. The ending let us know there is mor coming from Morgan, Sarge, and the gang. Some areas were a wake up call for what could happen, and left us in wonder as to what would happen in our neck of the woods. Great job, looking forward to more.

A. American continues to weave an amazingly timely and poignant tale following characters that a easy to embrace.
He loves to drop subtle lessons in survival tactics throughout the prose and if the reader is smart they will take notes while they are reading.
If you have not read the previous books you are truly missing out on some of the best fiction around today and this latest novel continues in that excellent tradition!

One of my favorite post-apocalyptic series (and I've read a LOT of them!!)...I love the characters and that it is written from a man's point of view. A man who is a father, husband, friend and leader of the community. A straightforward, decent man who loves his daughters dearly. And no preaching - I don't want to be preached to. A man's actions should speak louder than preachy words and here it does.

I believe the local, accurate, details really help the credibility of the story. My prep group owns property in one of the locations in this story so I really pray that a "Morgan" really exists there and I get a chance to work with him or her. Excellent read! Writing gets better and better!

I can't say enough about this series or author. Delivers in so many areas I don't know where to start. Morgan makes it home after an EMP takes out the power grid and 99% of the cars and trucks and strands him hundreds of miles from his wife and kids. Book number 8 builds on the first 7, which you MUST read, and does not disappoint. This writer satisfies and yet makes you hungry for more.

If you've read this far in the series, you don't need me to tell you how great it is. I can't wait to see the finish to it. At least the next 3, 4, 5 books in the series. LoL keep up the great work, sir!

I'm sorry it ended, this book was way too short. I have learned to love these characters like family sort of. As the community grew and more interesting people joined in, i was looking forward to how they were growing together. This was a very good read. Most enjoyable.

Great book as usual !! After reading some of the neg. comments, I could tell right away that they 1. have never been in the military 2. they would be dead rather quickly in this situation 3. Its fiction for christ sake, like it or leave 4. Finally Sarge , well he's getting OLD and more grumpy - go with it.
Love it A.A.

Love the characters, love this series. When things calm down for the group it would be nice to see weddings and extensions of their lives including Thad,Mary, Sarge, Kay jamie, aric, jess, ronnie begin their lives together.

another epic tale installment in the best, most convincingly written, series of Prepper fiction. If the end of the world happens, I want to be on Morgan's team - more honestly, I want to be on Sarge's team!
Excellent mix of the domestic and the tactical, as relationships forged in stress and strife deepen, and the threats faced by our intrepid band of heroes develop a realistically chilling plotline, lightened by the humor so often overlooked by other writers.
Now to wait impatiently for the next book!

One of my favorite authors, my single most favorite series. This book seems to carry more weight and emotions than others, such a good read and never disappointed in keeping me reading. Don't hesitate to buy.

I have the series and have really enjoyed reading them. This book, so far, eh. Really needs a proofreader. Plot so far is so-so. Relying too much on banter, but it's not as sharp as the other books. Maybe I'll finish it later.

I have read every book in this series and from the first one to the newest you get drawn in like you go from on the road with Morgan to meeting jess to Thad and sarge and the boys to making it home like your right with them it draws you in and wraps you up in the world from growing up in Florida I know most of the things written about very well and it makes it all the more real for me I love it I suggest these books to guys at work all the time

This series used to have a decent story line, but it the people in the story have changed. The group of people in the story have begun to act like what we, people born in the South, call Southern White Trash. And I, for one, do not intend to read anymore books by A. American.

Sarge is just rude all the time now with no redeeming qualities & apparently doesn't want 2 share his coffee w/ even Mel.
The men roughhouse way 2 much now. It is boring, getting old, & juvenile.
Apparently the author doesn't know how to write about relationships between men & women. He could have covered all the relationships & especially the developing ones.
He also could have wrote more about what each person was thinking & feeling.
Even some of the people outside of the main group.
The relationship Mel has with her Husband is so boring & the women have no life apparently, but cooking.
All Mel gets is a man who leaves early & comes home after she is already asleep & they have no talks besides hi & bye & stay safe & Mel getting constant slaps on the butt. Even the way her husband attempts to initiate sex is just boring & stupid & would turn most women off.
This was the worst book in the series..
No depth. No other persons view on things. Boring. Rushed. Sarge has gotten too juvenile & rude & violent & so have the rest of the men.
Just few if any adult conversations in any depth.
A. American has always been a favorite author of mine.
One more book like this & I doubt I will give him another chance.
Also each book needs to be longer & more engaging & more broadly written.

very very disappointed! the whole book was a "filler". the series would have been fine an dandy without this book, heck if i had the whole series an it went to 30 books,it would be no big deal to be missing this book in the series, other than a few ..and i mean VERY FEW points that are germane to the series this book has nothing to offer, and trust me i am a fan of this series an this author,so it pains me to type this.

I and my spouse read all eight of the series. I wanted to wait till the last, hopefully not the end.? To give my opinion. I know the old saying!!!Lol. I want to say I love the story, it starts from the first gun shot and keeps running. We were dissappointed when the page count got lower per book. We love the characters each an everyone of them. They all play apart. But sometimes some would get left behind. I wanted more insight into what was going on with them.
Now for the every body has one part; there was alot of problems with continuity. Worse i would say in the first three and got much better but it continued to happen just not as frequently. I'm told to let you know that parts on me. My husbands not involved!!! We been married along time an he knows how out spoken i can be. The other was alot of acrimons. Without enough explination. I retired from the world of them. Also i will include I'm a guys kinda girl. So i wouldn't complain for no reason.
Congrats on keeping the type of cuss words you chose. I absolutely love the way you write about the sexual things. The way it should be. We all know what s going on but don't have to endure the indignity of the scenes. I believe you think your readers are smart free thinking people. Thank you !!!!! C Ballard will be looking for nine!!!

I just finished reading Home Invasion and I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and character development. I like the foreshadowing of Sarge's aging being an issue and yet the people he gives the most crap keep on protecting him and ultimately honoring him.
I love that justice has been twisted up to this point to make Morgan the good guy, but throw in a judge and future actions could be questioned and not altogether justified as a reasonable response in a resurrected world.
I appreciate the thought-provoking ethics presented through incidents and situations. I.e. Morgan's daughter killing a rapist, or Dalton as a wild card that flourishes in the Wild West atmosphere...but how does he assimilate as the world returns...or does the world even return to one that we would recognize?
With innumerable storylines ready to unfold, the overlying question is - Are we ready for a foreign invasion?

I was hooked on this series. But it has become just banter between sarge and the guys. No real solutions or improvements to the "homestead" the towns are left in the same place as the last book and Morgan yet again survives an ordeal that would have killed 10 other men. I'm done with this series, it's become a pepper type A personality wet dream. Not realistic or informative at all (the other books had recommendations on gear, and survival bits). A shame too because he had a good deal going.

Many have said the book seemed rushed. I agree. I was disgusted with the language. None of the other books had such blatant foul language. The 'Sarge' had a filthy mouth occasionally in the previous books but this time every time he opened his mouth he was vulgar.
Very disappointed in A. American's latest book. In fact, he has lost me as a reader. He should have taken his time and developed the story, instead of filling the pages with vulgarity... as if he had a certain word count to make and couldn't think of anything to say so he filled it with nasty.

Morgan and the gang are back!
As the grid-down environment continues, Morgan is adjusting to the never ending job of being the Sheriff. Dividing his time between family, neighborhood protection, and law enforcement, he continues to do what he can to ensure everyone's survival.
But without a regular news source like from Before, simple things like the weather and activity across the country remain a mystery. The good days are good, but the bad days can be devastating....
A great read and addition to A. American's 'The Survivalist Series'. This is a continuing saga at its best! A few hiccups with some editing, but it doesn't affect the power of the story at all. Definitely a series to stay with. Well done!

Very well written .I'm so tired of trying to read some of the Apocalypse books that are out there where the grammar, spelling and punctuation is on a third grade level. At times I'm sorry that I bought the damn book! I really think you need someone to proof read some of the books you offer. Some authors are horrendous!

After setting the FEMA camp free from DHS control things settled down into a somewhat normal life for Morgan and his friends. The community was working together for the most part to bring in a good crop of vegetables for everyone to share. Then a group of strangers show up that upset their fragile new world.
American’s eighth novel in The Survivalist Series, Home Invasion, follows Morgan and his group as they confront an enemy that is beyond their capabilities to defend against. Are they going to have to run to survive this new threat? What about the threat from the West coast?
5 out of 5 stars.

I'm thinking the author bowed to reader pressure to get this out and that's the cause for it being shorter than the others.
I still love the story arc of Morgan and his band of survivors and will tune in for the next one to see where it takes us. Just hope the next one is longer. I don't mind waiting for quality.
UPDATE 6/6/18: This is the book I refer to as disappointing in my overall series reviews.
Trust me, so far this is the only book in the series that stumbles and you won't regret picking up the next title.

Like going back home, well, almost. I grew up in the area this story is placed. Right next to lake Dor where the swimming takes place. Got in trouble once in the little camp ground the wild people lived in. At one point my family lived near the bunker house Mitch and wife lived in, and watched the progress of it being built. I love reading this series, i love the characters, and i believe it has changed my view point on life in general. Highly recommend
Thank you for these books.

Another great installment in this series. Without giving anything away, the ending left a gaping opening for a follow up installment or 2. It's probably difficult to keep coming up with plots for the series while still moving the situation forward but I think the author has done a great job of it. I'm at the point that I don't care where the story takes us, I'm invested in the characters. If you haven't read the whole series do yourself a huge favor and start at the beginning.

This is the continuation in the saga of Morgan and his group as they try to survive their SHTF world. If you've read the other books in this series, then you'll find the same suspense and drama in this book. I believe Angry American is preparing his readers for another phase in this story. The first phase was Morgan getting home. Then the next phase was Morgan and his group taking control of their homes, Then it was on to defeating the DHS. Now, after everything has seemed to "calm down," A. American has introduced invasion from foreign armies. I am already looking forward to the next book.

"A. AMERICAN", is a gifted writer who is on a par with other very gifted writers..."CLIVE CUSSLER", R.E McDERMOTT, W.J. LUNDY,

I have read all 8 novels in the, Survivalist Series and I am swept up in their struggles to try to maintain a near normal, peaceful
existence. A author whose writing talent can bring a reader...from just READING print....to actually SEEING, FEELING, BREATHING,
finding a moment to tear up or to laugh....ALL WITHIN 30 MINUTES of starting a novel...WELL...that is the wonderful trait of a
GIFTED WRITER. Begin becoming acquainted to the ,"Survivalists", by reading...."GOING HOME".

I don't know what happened to A. American, but his last couple of books have not been good. I loved the Going Home series and really looked forward to this volume, but the first part of the book is just boring. Morgan being an expert on everything has been getting old for some time, and the characters attitude is just so negative. He complains about everything and doesn't want to cooperate with anyone unless it is his idea.
I am pretty well done with A. American.

Since I only listen to the audio book I don't know anything about the grammar or missed spelled words. With that I loved this book. Although, it didn't have any action till the last chapter. I thought it was funny, moving and well written. I can't wait for book 9! But since it took A. American so long to write this one I doubt we'll see the next book before 18' which is sad. But as far as the characters are concerned while listening to this book. You feel like you are part of the family and wish the book was never ending.

This series is funny, informative, dark, and probably pretty accurate. Like James Wesley Rawles the author delivers excellent survival information in the form a good novel. The characters are fairly diverse and have good depth. The books transport the reader into a different world than the bubble we currently inhabit. Looking forward to the next one.

If not for all the uncalled for useless language it would be a 5.The storyline is good as well as the characters. Don't understand why some feel like they have to curse every other paragraph.

While I love the storyline the writing has deteriorated for me significantly as the series has evolved. There is way too much time spent on discussing "tasks" or the banter between the characters rather than advancing the storyline. There are so many interesting characters and so many opportunities to dig deeper into critical points in the story. Rather it seems like the most important aspects to the plot are glossed over for unimportant dialogue that could be used to tell characters backstory or explore the new relationships further. I want to continue the series but don't know if I can make it through this again. Keep up the series but take take some time with next book to make sure it is well constructed.

As is the case with most series, the first one or two are gripping page turners then the author sort of runs out of gas, introducing less interesting characters to replace the ones he killed off. No knock against AA it's just the nature of writing. Not a bad effort but I'm in need of something a little fresher.

So, this book is horrible. The pacing is atrocious, and the characters completely bland. The events portrayed are ridiculous. This entire series could only be enjoyed by simple minded folk... Thank God I'm simple minded.
Seriously, I have enjoyed this entire series from the beginning. My ONLY complaint is that at times it looks like the proof reader missed some things, and I may have missed an entire portion of a chapter by accident. Don't care.
The dialogue is great and makes me laugh because it reminds me of how my friends and I were in the Army and the Air Force. I can't give this book enough praise.

A factual account of just what can happen in this political climate. A true depiction of how man can destroy himself in defending his own turf. It is indeed frightening to imagine this as a fact. The story was well written with touches of humor that keeps one somewhat sane. I gave it 4 stars.

A. American is an excellent author well at least to me. I have read almost all the works and I am highly impressed by the detail that is in these books or as I like to say, they are my guides, I have followed the Morgan family and have gotten to know them rather well almost as if they actually existed. There are places where the action drags in this one. There are sections that sound more like personal philosophy than either speculative fiction or guidance for someone wanting to know more about prepping. Still, the series is a good one and I will continue to buy them as they come out.

I have read almost all the works and I am highly impressed by the detail that is in these books or as I like to say, they are my guides, I have followed the Morgan family and have gotten to know them rather well almost as if they actually existed. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone or any prepper if for nothing else but to give you an idea of what you might want nothing a to go bag or what is needed for any disaster.

Would like to see a bit more background on some characters such as Dalton. The Home series started off slow for me and almost past it over. We are now at a crucial point. Really looking forward to the next. If you're new, honestly, start at the first book. If you struggle, keep going, you'll appreciate it later.

Way too much fluff. There could be a good story in there somewhere but it's buried under neath repetitive descriptions and dialogue that finally got on my nerves to the point where I couldn't even finish it.

There are places where the action drags in this one. There are sections that sound more like personal philosophy than either speculative fiction or guidance for someone wanting to know more about prepping. Still, the series is a good one and I will continue to buy them as they come out.

Even though I hate cliff hangers this book is part of a great series. I've laughed so hard tears where running down my eyes. This book brought me further into the lives of Morgan and Sarge. This series has taught me a lot of lessons and I'm grateful for the knowledge learned.

I gave it 5 because I couldn't give it 10. Another "home" book by A. American. It has Morgan and the gang in the old neighborhood with a new group of challenges to face and problems to solve. Watch them improvise, adapt and overcome. Never repetitive, boring or predictable.

This book seemed to be a little bit of a slow read for me. I love this series and will no doubt buy book 9 when it comes out. This book also has some editing errors, there was a reference to a situation with porky in town that must have been taken out. I actually went back through the book trying to find this situation but it was not there. Also the joking and carrying on from the guys is starting to get a little old and takes up to much time in the book. Love the series can't wait for the next one.

Amazing book series with a message. Angery American doesn't disappoint EVER! Well, except the wait for the next book to be published. We got to know some of the minor characters better in this one. I can't wait to read the next one and see what happens!!!

Previous books were amazing, this book became interesting in the last chapter, so I guess I'll have to get the next one, when available, to see what the last book was building up to. Series overall is VERY good though.

The going home series remains my favorite in its genre and Home Invasion is a great addition to the series. I'd love to see this series turned into a tv series. Preferably an HBO or Netflix series that will allow the language and violent to be shown the way the book depicts it. My only complaint is I wish each book in the series was longer. I enjoy them so much that I don't want them to end. Kudos Chris on another great one.

I've followed this series from the start and this book didn't let me down. Love the characters, the action never stops, and if you pay attention you might accidentally learn something. Great 5 A. American. Can't wait for the next!

I always look forward to the author's newest releases. This one was opens on a new front and should continue to build. But it would be nice to have a proofreader correct a number of errors. Something my own readers love to nail me with.

Absolutely loved this book! Well written, researched and delivered. Now I have to wait for the next one to come out. If you haven't started this series yet, you really need to give some serious thought to buying the series.

This is by far my favorite EMP survival series. The characters are great, especially Sarge, Mike, Ted and Doc, their antics made me laugh a lot. I was worried when I started reading the first book because of all the tech/gear descriptions, but after the first few chapters or so it slacked off. Glad I kept going. I would highly recommend this series to any EMP survival genre enthusiasts!

Very well written .I'm so tired of trying to read some of the Apocalypse books that are out there where the grammar, spelling and punctuation is on a third grade level. At times I'm sorry that I bought the damn book! I really think you need someone to proof read some of the books you offer. Some authors are horrendous!

As always lots of fun and very entertaining. Since the very first of his work I really believed AA would be a great success. As always I'm so ready for more of his work. He turned me into a reading junkie.

Great characters, interesting story line. Makes you think about what's going on in the world today. Makes you look at how the fabric of our society could easily be ripped apart by events beyond our control.

The Survivalist Series is one of my favorites. The characters are very real and easy to identify with. The story line is very strong and engaging and I love the information for prepping that I find in the book. I can't wait for the next one in the series.

I've read other post apocalyptic novels and series, but this one is my favorite by far! God help the USA if this ever really happens, but because of the vision and forethought of A American, I will be better prepared. You brought up subjects and plot lines that I would have never thought of, (eating native plants!) Now I have books on edible plants that grow in my own area. Thank you! L

I love this series and this book was great just like the rest of them have been. Normally buy book 3 with an author they take it in a Direction that loses me. This book series just keeps getting better and now I need him to sit down and write the next book because I'm waiting! :)

Wonderful book that you can't put down. It is the 8th book in a series of wonderfully written books that keeps you interested from beginning to end. A great read for anyone that like post apocalyptic type books.

This book goes along with the other books in the series or can stand alone. Each page you turn is exciting and non stop action. I recommend this book to adult audiences and to anyone that wants to see how the world is changing. As always, I can't wait for the next book to see what happens. A, American is a creative and informative writer, I learn something in each of his books. Thank you for the journey you are giving me with your words.

Great characters, super story line and leaves you wanting more. I am very picky about my authors and the characters depicted, A. AMERICAN delights with entertaining guys' guys. Great Book. Will read it again.

I loved this series, but the constant errors are a bit old. This book was the worst in the series leaving out an entire passage in chapter 6 (a reference to an encounter with a character in the story, but the encounter was never written or left out somehow.) Also, not much in terms of arc story in this one.

This is an amazing series of books. This is slower in pace than most of this series, but it does begin to introduce a new threat to our group that I believe the author will be able to expand on in an amazing fashion.
PROOF READ before release because obviously the editor didn't and book is full of typos and incorrect grammar.

I love this series! Keep them coming. There was a point where they referenced Morgan having a run in with Porky but that had never occurred??? Other than that great book. Is Dalton English? I never remembered that being mentioned but he says lads a lot?

I love this series. I wish the books weren't so far apart. He does a great job keeping you interested. I don't like giving away any parts of the book. If you've been reading this series you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely the best book series I've ever read. I'll admit it took me a bit to get going with book 1 but once I did, I couldn't read em fast enough. Really makes you think about life today and how easily this could all really happen. I can't wait to read more from the amazing author, A. American

I have noticed that some my reviews have disappeared, not sure I want to waste any more time doing that and then have the effort vanish. the store is playing games with their politcal agenda. All negative reviews against some authors such as Clinton were removed. Too many five star reviews on really lousy books.
Please RateHome Invasion (The Survivalist Series)
A little bit of that goes a long way. I don't have a problem with some grab-ass if it serves a purpose
but in this case it isn't germane to the story and doesn't move the narrative along.
Also the narrative seems a bit short.
And why move to a larger physical format? Just adds a lot of blank paper on each page
Still need a human spell checker - the "Florida Straight"?
Send me a pre-publication copy of Book 10 and I'll spell check it for free.
That said - this is still my favorite SHTF series.
