How to Write A Simple Book Review by Allyson R. Abbott is a great and informative book.

I have always wanted to write reviews on the books I read, but I always felt that my reviews were unintelligent and just plain bad. With this book, l learned some guidelines to follow and that there is not really a way to mess up a review if, you are giving your exact feelings on the book.

I definitely like how the author says that the review doesn't have to be super lengthy to be a good review. This book definitely made me feel more confident about writing reviews and had helped me in how to compose one.

This is a great 5 star read and I would recommend this book to anyone who is like me struggling with writing reviews.

This is a very well written book that breaks the misconception of how a negative review negatively affects the sales of the book, and why a 2-word review is as valuable as the essay type of review. I find a lot of great insights about reviews, on how a book should be reviewed, about having no rules as others would argue that a review should be this long and that long, this book provides a clear explanation on this thing. It provides tips on how to turn a short review into long and more in-depth. I also find the template pretty helpful.

This is a kind of book that will change your perspective towards writing a review whether you're new to reviewing or been reviewing for years.

I found it very easy to read and the way it was written and layed out made it a enjoyable educational read. There were pictures , pie charts and incredible helpful tips along the way. I also found with the style of how this was written came across more friendly and it felt more compassionate unlike with most self help books you find its rushed and more often than not you find kust as clueless then when you began unlike with this book you actually learn alot very helpful indeed! 5 Stars.
This book was very informative. The author does a great job of outlining the book and making it easy to read. It was a format that was easy to follow.

I enjoyed learning about the author side of writing a book and why reviews both good and negative can be helpful to the authors.

I also loved how she gave ideas and guidelines that might make writing a review easier and all the different types of reviews that I didn’t know there were.

This book was very informative and definitely helped me understand more about reviews and writing a review. It was short and concise with lots of references to back up her reasoning.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in writing good reviews!

I bought How to Write a Simple Book Review by Allyson R. Abbott when I first decided I wanted to write reviews but didn't know where to start. Wait, let me back up. I wanted to write good reviews. That's where this book let me down. Don't get me wrong, I did learn a thing or two reading this book, so it wasn't a complete waste of money, but I was honestly hoping it would give a little more information than it did.

Abbott breaks the book down into five different chapters in order to give an overview of the different types of book reviews, reasons to write a review, and tips on writing a review. She goes over how book reviews are rated on different websites and how stars can mean different things on different websites. I did find that part very helpful, because I would have never thought to double check what the stars meant so I was grading on the right scale.

The thing that I didn't like about this book was that Abbott didn't seem to take her own advice. At points, it seemed like she didn't proofread her book at all. There were many places she used commas that I felt were unnecessary and made it hard to read the book. She also rambled on in parts, almost as if she wanted to write about something other than the chapter she was working on. It was distracting.

Overall, this was a good book to get readers started on writing a review. There are a ton of resources at the back of the book that I, honestly, have not looked at. The main thing I learned from this book is that it doesn't matter what type of review is being written, authors are going to appreciate the time taken in reading their book.

How to Write a Simple Book Review by Allyson R. Abbott. This is my novel by this author.

I picked up this book because I wanted to get better at writing reviews. While I write reviews now, I feel there is always ways to improve it and make my reviews more concise instead of going all over the place.

The novel does give you examples of reviews but it mainly tells you the importances of leaving a review. Which is important to just not what I was expecting when I started reading it.

The novel gives you interesting facts and statistics about reviews from different genres that I wasn't aware of.

Overall I felt the book was quite informative and would recommend it.

I was looking for a book to provide guidance on writing the store book reviews. I had been feeling guilty having not reviewed many books despite using reviews to make all of my buying decisions. This book was definitely worth reading. I got a lot out of it. There is an excellent section that provides a few templates to make this process of writing reviews easier. I strongly recommend this book.

I picked this book up on a whim bcause i loveto ead and love to review, but the reviews were sucking all the joy out of my reading.

in reading Ms Abbott's book i have learned a few little tricks for leaving simple but informative reviews with having to go back to 'Book Report' or crique style i was always taught you should use.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and insights, and yes your experience, in an easy and fun to read format. 5 stars, a must read if you a novice or experienced reviewer who might be looking for way to make a change.

After reading this book I feel more encouraged to leave reviews for the books I read. I also love reading, but have often felt that my opinion wasn't worth sharing, or that I wouldn't be able to find the right words to express how I felt about a book. I love the point the author made about some reviews being more interesting than the books themselves because I immediately thought of Fifty Shades of Grey, and she immediately proceeded to use that book as an example. I love reading reviews for that series, despite the fact that it is those reviews that have prevented me from buying it. Anyway, I enjoyed this book and will be sure to always leave a review for books I read.

How to Write a Simple Book Review: It's easier than you think by Allyson R. Abbott was a very informational read. It is filled with good advice for anyone that has ever thought of writing a review or for someone looking to improve your own writing style. I especially liked how the book read almost like you were having a conversation with the author. This style helped to keep what was essentially a textbook from becoming boring. I have to give this book a five star rating for the simple fact it helped me become a better reviewer by reading it.

The trouble is I hate to write a long review. Do not do it for every book I read. But if really good or bad I sometimes put my thought on it. I find I like things that others do not. I am not into bestsellers and read mostly non-fiction.
I do check the one starts and maybe 3 or 5 sometimes on deciding on a book. After reading one star review for a book I really liked, I think one cannot tell much about the book. But by reading many I can get a good idea if I would like the book.
This book tells one how to write a really good review and to give some idea about what the book is about. A short read and should be read by all reviewers

I just finished reading your book, and I found it to be full of information and tips to help the newly established reviewer like myself.
The author's style was engaging and made acquiring the information easy.

I particularly liked the list that could be found online because that will help me get started. Also, I felt that the book served its purpose. I've already made my own criteria list which I will use in the future, so that is a one on the plus side.

If I had to pick out something that I did not like, I would say it was the digressing, but the author recognized that herself, and commenting on it made the conversation between author and reader cozier.

I gave your book four stars because I thought it was well-written, fun to read, and informative. I will have to pick up your other books as well.

I did not give the book five stars because of the digression. However, I think this book would be good for anyone starting out as a reviewer.

This is the first book I have ever read that gives direction on writing book reviews. Actually it is the very first 'how to' type of book I have ever read and I must say I am impressed and really enjoyed all the information that was given.

I recommend this book if you are looking to begin writing reviews on books. Very informative.

I, Amber McCarty (Imaginative Dreams), was given a copy for an honest review.

This book, “How To Write a Simple Book Review: It’s easier than you think”, is one of those books that you think you don’t need, but then you read it and it turns out you DO! With clearly laid-out information and helpful links, not to mention breakdowns of example books’ reviews, ratings and sales, the author manages to pack a mighty punch. She explains clearly not only why reviews are helpful to both readers and authors, but how to write reviews, either informally or analytically.

Needless to say, this is an informal review, which I now know. This book is a great purchase!

I received a copy of this book via librarything for an honest review.

This book was so good, that this is my first written review. It helped me understand how important it is to write a review on a book read, and how easy it is.

If you are intimidated by writing a book review, this book is sure to give you the confidence you lack!

I am an avid reader, and want to leave feedback, something meaningful. Allyson covered more of the why importance in leaving reviews, even constructive bad reviews. Taking me from a simple "I loved this book" to a multitude sentence review of my thoughts on a book. Wrote my 1st real review half way through this book on a fantasy book I just finished. Thank You.

Write a Simple Book Review is a good primer on writing informal book reviews. It doesn't spend much space on literary reviews or book reports other than to define them which is in keeping with the focus of the book. The best feature was the lists to remind the reviewer talking points and how to use these lists to rate the book. Another very nice feature is the pretty comprehensive number of links to give the interested reader further information. I would definitely recommend it.

This book was exactly what I needed. As an avid reader for some time I have not published a lot of reviews on books because I did not know the value. This book not only informed me why, but how. I loved the fact it was short and to the point. I look forward to reviewing more books in the future as well as share the knowledge she has imparted me with.

I received this book in exchange for an hones review. As a bookblogger I read and review a lot of books. In this book we learn what the importance may be of these reviews and how to create a review that is a bit lengthier that only two words. It was very interesting to learn her view. Handy book and some things hit home :)

This book gave me some great ideas and starting points to put in a book review. I read a lot of books, and while I do give them all ratings once I complete them, I have been hesitant to leave a review, but I will definitely make it a habit from now on.

I am so glad I found this! I only wish it had been written years ago so that I could have read it before starting my bad habits :o LOL ... Very informative, and will be great reference for when I need help with writing a hard review... I would have given 5 stars, but unfortunately, this had enough noticeable typos & grammatical errors to interfere with the flow for me. Though I wonder if it's mostly with the difference in meanings or language from the UK than I'm used to? But I still highly recommend this to everyone who reads & writes reviews :) Thanks Ms. Abbott, and I'll definitely be reading your other books, like some romantic fiction I've added to my TBR list!

Excellent book. Gives some great ideas - and drives home the point that it really is a nice thing to do if you write a review once you've read a book - for the author, for future readers, and even for your self as a way to keep track of what you've read. This book really is simple and direct and informative.

Allyson has done a great job of putting together the information that you'll need to start doing reviews on the books that you read. As she has noted in her book, the author does appreciate all reviews. I know that to be a fact as I have published some books here on the store and I appreciate each and every review. Thanks Allyson for some great information about writing reviews. I am sure that anyone who reads your book will learn something that they can use in writing their review.

How To Write a Simple Book Review: It’s easier than you think by Allyson R. Abbott

5 Stars

I just recently began writing reviews for the millions of books I read, and I'm ashamed to say that there are so many I've read and never reviewed, this I need to fix. I was scared at first and have written some I'm sure were not the greatest but have gotten better I think with practice. This book was great and gave many helpful tips and was very easy to follow and understand. I learned a lot more about the importance of a review for authors and really anything that I've bought online. The outlines she gives you for making your own charts that would be really easy to go through while reading were great. I've tried the taking notes approach but it's so hard sometimes to know what is important to a story until you've reached the end and then you realize you read something you find important and can't remember where in the book it was.

She gives lists of great sights to visit and I am really glad I read this book and I will be taking a lot of what she wrote and using it in my own reviews. She makes you realize it's important to create your own style and there's no wrong way to do it. I will also be looking up everything else she has written as I really liked her writing style. I recommend this book to anyone that wants a little more insight to reviews or someone that has never written one...it's a fantastic place to start.

I felt this book have great strategies to get started leaving book reviews, especially for the novice or casual reviewer. The biggest take away is to write the review for yourself, other readers and the author. This gave me the confidence to even write this review. I'd recommend this book for anyone interested in starting to leave reviews and I'll certainly be referring back to it in the future as I practice leaving more reviews.

HOW TO WRITE A SIMPLE BOOK REVIEW...is written in a tone of light banter, yet the author reveals a lot of information about how to write a book review. What I like most: this book does not focus on one type of review being right or wrong, (except when there are spoilers or the ending is given away.) Indeed, the author teaches that a book review written within a sentence or two, can be as important for revealing information about a book as a lengthy review.

This book holds gemstones of information for the reader: templates for giving books star ratings, samples of small reviews and ways to build on them, a brief way to write a longer, full-on literary review, and best of all, links to websites and blogs where writers may go for their own book reviews. This friendly book remains non-judgemental and positive throughout, written in a sincerely helpful manner with reassurance for the would-be reviewer who is still traumatized by English 101.
