What a breath of fresh air. Harry is a truly interesting and likeable PI. Well written, hard to put down. Keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Look forward to more of Harry and his riveting investigations.

This series was a great find - I ordered it to read because I was waiting for another book from the library. The action was non stop and he's a good descriptive writer. I will try to get the other three books in this series.

I want to like this character, but... He objectifies women (and for that matter men). He admittedly "cats around" sleeping with 3 women in the space of a few chapters. I'm not sure if the author wants us to forgive Harry`s ways with women or if this is how the author views women. It spoiled the stories some for me.

Harry is a real person with real conflict and a shortage of commitment. The author brings you in to the life and times of true crime ripped from the front page of the paper. Well researches and timely Family Matters is just a plain good read.

These books are perfect for those who want a good detective/mystery escape. Old school style in the fact that our hero is a man's man, always packs heat, and his women are hot and confident. Not overly action packed but really good descriptive stories. A recommended read.

I like that it was set in Chattanooga and not in NY or LA. Characters were believable. I read 7 or 8 brooks a month and typically only read two or three in a series and get bored with the sameness of an authors way of writing. I will try the next three Harry Starke books and see if Blaire can keep my attention.

From the beginning I found this author quite engaging, all three books had me turning the page not wanting to put them down. Nice escape from a sometimes mundane or stressful reality. Looking forward to reading more of Blairs work.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first Harry Starke book, and am anxious to begin the next one in line. The book was well written, easy to follow and hard to put down. So happy too have discovered this writer.

I’ve read six of the nine books in the Harry Starke series.
The first book is the most “stand-alone” of the series. The following five are mostly stand-alone with only minor exceptions that may leave the reader wondering what the author is referring to. But maybe the references will be enough to send the reader backwards to a previous book in the series to fill in the blanks.
While the protagonist isn’t at the level of Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch, I enjoyed the series and can recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good mystery.

I love the main character, Harry Starke, a cop turned PI. I like the dynamic between Harry and Kate, the detective. The plot kept me turning the pages. I can’t wait to read more and recommend the series to my friends.

I throughly enjoyed all 8 of these books and am anxiously awaiting more. It rivals the JD Robb Death In... series. Personally, I like to read all books in a series all at once; that's just me. For a fast, engaging, light read give it a try. I think you'll find the stories as engainig as I did.

Just a short note, the Harry Starke series are becoming more energetic with each page you turn, creating an intensified and mentally stimulating experience, thanks for the series and I wait for the next great adventure. Great Read!

I enjoyed reading this series, but I thought that it would have been better as one book, leaving out the descriptions in the 2nd and 3rd books, because they are superfluous, and would make one book as a continuous story.

I did not like Harry at all when I first started reading the series. The books are well written, so I kept going and I did like a couple of the other characters. Harry does grow on a person--still can't say I like him, but I did order the next 3 books in the series and enjoyed them very much. Others have described the story lines so I will not. Harry just seems a little too over the top and not quite believable, even though I know people just like him.

Good plots and ok reads. These books always start with the crime and long way until they solve it. Main character is a playboy type PI who strings along a pretty police woman/partner in crime solving. A little too much detail in food, clothing and coffee that felt more like fillers to me. Since they get you with the plot’s hook early, you keep turning pages until it’s solved at the end of each book. Good books not great.

I was pleased to get 3 books of the series in 1 volume. It isn’t a Bosch, Alex Delaware, Cross, etc. The series, however, is interesting enough that I would continue to read the series if I could check it out as an ebook or find it free on the store.
Please note that I do not buy books for pleasure reading. All such are either checked out or received for free whether for a full review or on the store

I'm so glad I found the Harry Starke books. Lots of drama, humor and intrigue. The characters come to life in Blair Howard's wonderful story-telling style. Can't wait to read the next books in the series.

The author has an amazing ability to put together people and events that ultimately lead to a conclusion that is unexpected but makes sense. I like the device of the narrator taking directly to the reader, it gets you involved on a personal level.

I enjoyed it very much and bought the next series unfortunately the second ones 4,5,6,, has a lot of Repetitive wording about the previous three box. It gets a little old. The basic stories I found entertaining and easy reading thank you Veronica Przestalski

Glad the first three were bundled; made it feel like a nice, entertaining long book. Only concern I had was how the Senator didn’t make the second and third book. Hopefully she will show up later.

Pass through Chattanooga often and we love the aquarium so was pleasantly surprised to read about street names I recognized.
I enjoyed the format, not my typical read of sci-fi, political thriller or historical.

Starke takes on the worst .. thugs and thieves? No .. the "less than attractive" and overweight. Every character is defined by how they look and how much they weigh or, according to the author, need to lose. How people dress. . How much they weigh .. how they eat .. no one is safe. The thugs and thieves? I guess they get caught and dealt with too.

Harry Starke sails through problems with his lovers while solving crimes in Chattanooga. Fast paced, exciting and fun. Meanwhile his arch nemesis plagues him with constant attacks on him and his team. Easy and fun read.

If you are looking for something to read before bed don’t start on these! You will be captivated and caught in the web of “just one more chapter”. Thankfully I have finished the set and can get caught up on missed sleep.

Thank you Blair Howard for giving us Harry Starke. Having finished the three book series, I can hardly wait to get to the next one. Well written, superb character development and a nail biting plot in each one. I'm in love with Harry. :)

I enjoyed these books very much...was attracted to them because I have been to Chattanooga several times and am familiar with the city.
My only complaints are the women are all described as knockouts and the fat people are not likable people...perhaps the authors personal views of how people should be...the main problem is at times I felt like I was reading a catalog because of all the brand manes that he includes which are not really needed, unless he is getting a kick back from the companies for a product placement

I was hoping for another great series like Bosch. This fails miserably. I agree with others I can not handle his sleeping with everyone and all the women are GORGEOUS.
.....plots were okay but I will not read this complete series. Disappointed

Didn't make it past the first 50 pages. Harry Stark, it turns out, is a mysoginistic creep, describing female characters almost strictly by physical qualities and how they look in their clothes. Sheepishly confessed to his girlfriend that another woman kissed him. 10 pages later, describes an all day sex marathon with another woman, a potential crime witness, as "research". No thank you. Harry Stark is compared to Jack Reacher or Harry Bosch, but as fictional characters go, he doesn't measure up.
