Tim Ferris has a gift for pulling ideas together and presenting them in an effective way. I recommend you browse this book rather than attempt to read it as you would read a typical book...page by page. My only problem is that I need a mind stretcher so I can fit all this good stuff into my brain. Maybe on eBay...

I love Tim Ferris and I love this book.. His writing style is condensed and mature, his ego unobtrusive and his passion the real world truths. In this book he collected the life experience of great people. It really is a privilege to get a look at a ton of real life experience, wisdom and what they went through collecting it. Please continue Tim!

I like how you get to see the world through so many people's eyes.
For me I've found that there is always something to learn from failure, and it helps to know that you're not the only person to experience it.

Well Tim, thanks for continuing your quest to inspire greatness. This isn’t my favorite, but you’ve given the world so much content, and for that I am grateful. 5 stars beause I can feel the energy you have put in and are putting in to promote this book and it’s importance. That is more inspiring that the actual book. Keep it up brother. Peace.

I absolutely love Tim Ferriss, his writing, his books, this very new and brilliant edition, his attitude, stamina, endurance, and story. I appreciate him as such a thoughtful individual. Keep reading on, listening to Tim on his podcast, and educating yourself with Tim. He’s amazing and so are you! :) Beautiflly written, golden book!!

I have never read a Tim Ferriss book before, Tribe of Mentors. But I can tell you it was a great purchase, one that will lead to alot of other Ferriss purchases on my account. Absolutely worth a read.

This is the most easy read of Tim Ferriss' books. I am thoroughly enjoying the read and it is easy to "chunk" down and read in short bursts, then put it down. The nuggets of wisdom shared and the great quotes make it one of my favorite book purchases recently.

Excellent book. Jam packed with life lessons & approaches that each and everyone of us can learn from. I thought Tim's "Tools of Titans" would be his masterpiece, and it was, but this one tops it. For anyone with a growth mindset, or seeking to gain perspective this book is a must

Let’s be honest, I knew before purchasing this book that I would love it. I’ve been a long time fan of the podcast, and the premise for this book is just too good. Tim has a VERY unique ? way of synthesizing information and making it digestible to the masses. Thank you.

Ignore the naysayers - this book was absolutely incredible. this was my first Tim Ferris book and I spent all night reading this. As I was reading this, all I could think was, why the hell someone didn't create a book like this earlier. Thank you Tim Ferris. You've earned a lifelong fan.

Tim Ferriss has done it again
I am half way through the book and already loving it
Being inspired and less threatened by the fear of failure
and having a different perspective about it. Can’t wait to read the rest and be even more inspired to take action.

Within the first few pages I found clear actionable advice. The structure of the books lends itself to being enjoyed in short bite sized chunks, but as a whole it is a powerful tool for seeing what speaks to you. Highly recommend to almost any individual.

Omg I can't believe there are so many fake reviews here. This is no doubt one of the worst books I have read. Each subject discussed has no depth, information is unorganized, and responses from those famous people are plagued with survey bias - imagine receiving this email - hey you are famous, I'm gonna write a book, can you share with me some life lessons with 1000 words? C'mon, those famous folks are not successful because of a few beliefs or behaviors (which may or may not be covered in the book), they are famous for many other reasons, which are minimally covered in this book. I received this book as a gift from my boss, I don't know what to say if my boss ever asks me "how's the book?".
Edit. I wrote the above review after skimming through the book. I gave it another shot, but I'm still disappointed. It is unlikely that I can finish reading the book.
1) No depth and poor organization of information - I really like some of the comments mentioned by some famous CEOs. But, because they failed to explain and elaborate more on their advice, I can't remember them after I moved on to the next few pages.
2) A few questions sent to the "mentors" are really lame -
what are one to three books that have greatly influenced your life?
What has purchases of $100 or less most positively impacted your life in the last 6 months?
What is the best advice you can offer to a college student?
Ok, is this book written for college students? If so, I can understand why I am unable to resonate with it (I'm 31). And seriously, why is the book promoting other books and products? ads section?
3) Survey bias - when you send those questions to a "mentor" and tell them that whatever they write will get into a book, it is natural for them to respond in a "cool" and "smart" manner. It is a great branding tool for the mentors, but a poor reflection of reality for readers.

This book is not written to create leaders or really help each individual to have the set of tools to deal with his/her issues. This is missing lots of dimensions that is needed especially needed when it is a tribe of mentors. The tribes mentioned here have no commonality except all are rich famous and so called suuccessful by the world

In Tools of Titans "The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of BILLIONAIRES, ICONS and World-Class Performers", internet 'guru' and digital age Old Boy Tim Ferriss delivered 101 articles of advice on how to be 'Healthy, Wealthy and Wise of which a mere 14 were by women.
Until Ferris stops fetishizing the male as superior and honors the value of equality in the new century, I shall be joining the movement to 'boycott gender biased books' and not reading this new book even though I have purchased it.

Tim Ferriss continues to deliver with another masterly compilation. Follow the advice and insights from almost any of the entries here and the purchase should have rewarded you tenfold at the very least. There is an ancient Sufi saying: "A book is like a mirror—if an ass looks into it, you can't expect a saint to look out." This is particularly true for a book like Tribe of Mentors. You can read the interviews in an idle ass-like manner and be not much the wiser. Or you can take some action based on the insights you garner—and benefit accordingly. Thanks to Tim Ferriss, the hardest-working man in show-biz, for another invaluable resource! Wild Boy: What I Want To Tell You

Probably about 1/3 of the way through this book and love it. I have all of Tim's books and pre-ordered this from the store and just received Tuesday. The book is organized in a clear and concise way to make it easy to take and implement advice, tips, best practices, suggestions quickly. Fantastic info here, some of which I have immediately considered, implemented, purchased (recommended products). For those that follow Tim's 5 Bullet Friday emails, you will enjoy this book.

I give 5 stars compared to most books, 4 compared to Tools of Titans. I personally loved Tools of Titans far more, yet this book is great as well. It is so tough to beat a book that gives you advice about each industry based on the people who are excellent at what they do. HIGHLY NECESSARY PURCHASE, and even MORE NECESSARY for those in their 20s

I'm feeling somewhat more generous than the two-star reviews here, although I appreciate their complaints of repetitiveness. I also read TOOLS OF TITANS, and just as with that book, this one has NO INDEX. That "Create-Your-Own Index" is a crummy cop out. If you want to include blank pages for notes, fine, but books like these cry out for a good index!. (I do realize that a late after the fact, soft copy index was published for TITANS.)
What is the problem? You could have put in a low grade completely computer generated index with little investment of time and money. But I would have preferred and expected a professionally prepared index.
This doesn't count in my downgrade, but the store should know that the book arrived with two corners somewhat crushed (top right on face cover, and the matching back cover).

I compare this with Tools of Titans, which for me is indeed a 5 star book.
While this one has very few guests that are featured also in Tools of Titans, and the questions are somehow similar but yet different, there is SIGNIFICANT value in this book.
Come on, if you like to read self help books then this is the book to go to. It's not like you would otherwise have access to 100 (if any) super sucessful people and get them to ask philosophical/life questions.
Let's appreciate what we received here, we don't get that with your average self-help book. For 20 bucks it's a good investment!

Like many, I am a Tim Ferris fan and Tribe of Mentors is his best book yet! When I first looked at the list of mentors I thought, “Who ARE these people?”because I didn’t know most of them so I started at the beginning and read each one. These people are terrific. And, Tim picked the perfect questions to ask—books, thing they love, failure they learned from, how they say no—every question is a gem and the answers are always interesting, moving, insightful and very useable! I read it from midnight to 6 am! I couldn’t put it down! And as usual Tim gives you layers upon layers of value—a distilled list of the books the mentors love, podcasts, really good introductions to these marvelous people so that I can read their books, blogs, etc. I like this book a lot better than his last Tribe book which was an avalanche of info that I got buried in. This is a cornucopia of practical inspiring information that I am already using. Thanks, Tim, with all my heart!

Yet another amazing book by one of my favorite authors, Timothy Ferriss. Very similar to his Tools of Titans book, and as with all of his books, absolutely worth owning, reading, and gifting to those around you that want to know more from the best of the best. Absolutely outstanding work.

Don’t think of this as a book; think of it as a manual to life. Inside, you’ll find countless words of wisdom and pieces of advice from the best of the best. From Jimmy Fallon to Tony Hawk - there are small nuggets of knowledge on every page.

I wish I had known earlier but today Tim is going to be over at Union Square for launching this book and it would have been awesome to get a signed copy :). Ill update the review asap. Here are some photos for comparison with Tools of Titans. I read the first chapter already as it was available for preview on his website.

Tim should write books on how to network, market, and sell. Instead, he chooses to fool people into believing that specific traits and behaviors of other human beings are recipes for success. This isn’t a book that should even be given serious critical thought. It’s a series of questions, asked to some “influential” people, over and over again, meant for consumption by his audience who will buy anything he tells them to. Let’s be real for a moment: does anyone actually believe he wrote this? He hired it done, by Book In A Box, who probably even conducted the interviews for him via phone/email. And really, do you blame him?

I love the first 3 books from Tim. I go back to all three frequently, they are in my Kindle and on my desk - all 4 hour work week, 4 hour body and 4 hour chef include Tim's ideas, his big effort to build a manual for many of us to make our lifes great. These are some of the best books I would recommend everybody to get.
Unfortunately the last two books from Tim are a big fail. There is no Tim's ideas, manuals in there. They both contain simply a huge amount of input from other people. Difficult to get one view, one recipe, just a dump and abundance of information.
I hope Tim comes back to his 4 hour format.

Tim is great but here’s the list you need to put this volume to work for you:
1) Read “The War of Art”
2) Stop eating sugar
3) Buy Sleep Mask
4) Do Morning Pages
5) Practice Whole30
6) Take daily cold showers
7) Intermittently Fast
8) Leave Social Media for Good
9) Don’t Drink Alcohol
10) Don’t read newspapers or watch the news
11) Drink lots of coffee and ask your barista what

A really well put together insighful and inspirational read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Tribe of Mentors positive words of wisdom and helpful knowledge. They've really helped me put into perspective what angle to take for personal success to tackle the big complicated world we live in an ever changing society.
I needed some form of mentor for my studies but could not access a real live mentor at this stage in my life. I turned to this book hoping it would be a gap filler in what i really really needed. It did not disappoint, I've enjoyed a more positive outlook in my future enterprises since reading it and look forward to future challenges in persuit of my goals. I feel more equipt to take on my upcoming challenges and thirsty for more books like this one, although i think might be hard to beat.
Thanks Tim for the thoughtful well put together book and i wish you all the best with your future projects.

I liked the Titans but this one is low value. A lot of pages but pretty empty. You get two ideas worth of something for 50 pages or more. I would also recommend more interesting people from more wide areas of life. There are too many hollywood type of people. Looks like many of these have not much to say or did not put too much thinking into this book. You get many ideas like "You need to figure out what you want and then go for it." Ha,ha,ha.

I've only read this once and will most likely need to read it over again but you can extract good nuggets out of it. I'm a horrible reader and this format was easy for me to read in two sittings. If you've listened to Tim's podcasts and read Tools of Titans, this book offers some new insights with lots of different people. Although I must say this is my least favorite book of Tim's it's still a good read.

I get halfway down a page, and something fascinating is mentioned. 'oh wow, what's that?' goes my brain & I have to Google it. Half an hour to an hour later I re emerge from that rabbit hole of fascinating discovery, find my place, and go back to the page. I'm lucky if I reach the bottom of the page before it happens again. And I disappear into another journey, again.
I started denying myself the pleasure of following the shiny fascinating curiosities, and made it a few pages, before I found something irresistible - and it happened again. And then it was so amazing that I had to go round to my sister's for a coffee, and tell her all about it!
I think I might finish the book in about 5 years. Then it'll be time for a second reading to chase up the things I missed the first time.

Great doctrine of inspiration for anyone going through a period of transition or needing an extra source of motivation! Ferriss has done the hefty legwork of somehow being aware of and contacting 100+ high level contributors to the modern world. What makes this book so effective are the meticulously crafted questions Ferriss presents to all the contributors. These questions somehow perfectly dissect the brains of everyone in this book to give the most thoughtful, authentic answers (either that or Ferriss picked up some magic tricks from David Blaine!). Thanks Tim for rallying up this Tribe of Mentors to share with the world!

I was skeptical but the book is phenomenal. It seems like it could be a quick read with its q&a format and new people every few pages. But the level of depth on nearly every page is so good that it is taking me way longer to get through then I could have imagined. I look for lots of books of this nature and this one is really with it.

Never has there been a book written sharing this much wealth without a catch or some kind of hidden agenda. Tim is
By far the most generous author, “podcaster”, genuine giver that I’m blessed to follow.
There is so much in his arsenal that it would take a lifetime to absorb it all. The bonus is, now we get the icing on the top with this book
And not to mention almost immediately following Tools of Titans! Come on, not to be passed up. It Will Impact Your Life!

This is a great book, better for me than Tools of Titans. Tools of Titans seemed a bit out of reach, with all sorts of gadgets and things that I for one wouldn't precisely take to real life for reasons I mention in the next paragraph, but in Tribe of Mentors suggestions were easier.
I remember reading Tools of Titans and biting my nails in jealousy, wanting to use some of the tools, but considering them too hard, out of reach, and sometimes even questioning their value on a large scale. But I guess they're not made for a large scale, they're made for champions and people who are willing to have discipline and take certain risks. It takes a lot to be a champion. I remember after attending Unleash the Power Within, I bought a rebounder and tried to take cold showers and to practice Robbins stuff. Then I understood that there are many paths to success and some of them I will never take. I think Robbins and Ferris are remarkable people and their quests, interviews and work are just as fantastic, but I wouldn't be willing to put myself through some of their stuff to get their results.
Also, Robbins says there's a lot of information and little knowledge in this day and era. In some aspects these books are like a gathering of little
prototypes and ideas tested in small study groups. In other aspects, they do have some amazing information that you can apply today.
In any case, both this and Tools of Titans represent absolutely beautiful work to gather, test and share the best of the best ideas and for that I am immensely grateful. Thank you, Tim !
P.S. I'm sorry for making this more about Tools of the Titans (maybe I should've posted it there), but I noticed many people speaking of that book here so I wanted to try and say that this one is easier to read and apply, but just as remarkable. I will make this clear in the headline.
I also want to mention that what I said doesn't make Tools of Titans any less valuable, it's a superb book and fantastic knowledge to have. Just hard to apply sometimes.

This book is perfectly digestible and loaded to the brim with every kind of golden life nugget imaginable. The diversity of advice, stories, and life experiences that are packed into the constraints of the 11 honed questions Tim asks prove a brilliant 'life centering tool.' I read one profile every morning with my coffee to center me for the day. I find some people's words more helpful than others, but I believe that's the point. The information from one or two profiles is enough to justify the purchase, let alone 600 pages of it. Truly one of my 'best purchases for under 100 dollars.' The 4 hour work week changed my life in a completely different, business-centered way. Now, ten years later, starting a new family and digging into the next major phase of life, I find this book is the perfect companion. It has been awhile since I have felt the need to read a book as I have been consuming content through mainly podcasts. I have been on a path of personal growth in health and work, but I have neglected the need of reading. Though I have just started it, I am constantly finding a few moments to go through a chapter and take some time to reflect on the words. I also wanted to purchase the book as I have gained much from listening to your podcasts. My goal is to explore more of the books referenced in Tribe of Mentors and thank you for leading positive change for so many.

I have purchased every book by Tim Ferriss, so perhaps you may think I'm biased. But because I've done just that, I hold all of his books to a very high standard... Is it as good or better than the last one? How is it different from the others and is it worth purchasing and reading? And does he have anything new to say?
This latest book passes all of those tests for me. It's well written, and very different but just as valuable as his others. I also like that it's more of a reference book so it doesn't have to be read cover to cover. If I don't have a lot of time for reading, I can just open the book to any chapter and read what that particular Mento has to offer. It written in perfect bite-sized pieces. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic book! Different from Tim’s other books but still great! Split into easily digestible chapters that you can read (and ponder) on your coffee break.
Tim’s questions are great and invoke people to share things they either haven’t thought about before or have never been asked before.
I would definitely recommend it and all of Tim’s other books.

This has been a very interesting book. I keep it by my bed and I like to read just a few pages before going to sleep. It provides so much new perspective from people I did not know I would be interested in listening to. I’m glad I decided to get the printed book instead of Kiindle as I’m sure it will take me months if not years to read it and enjoy all the new insights and tips. Not to mention where they lead to. Thank you for putting it together Tim Ferriss!

After just three mentors, I was smiling to myself reading their fantastic advice. I'm reading this slowly to take notes ( thanks Tim for the space to do that in the back!). I'm really happy that the majority of people included have not been on the TFS podcast. And the format is dead simple, just short profile+the questions, with little interludes for rejection letters.

If you are familiar with Tim Ferriss' universe, ToM won't disappoint. The short, consistent interview format is super easy to grasp, and the interviewees cover so much ground that the book can be read again and again ans still deliver new insight. There is true gold in this one, and the recommended book list alone is worth the price of admission. Read it, read it again, make it a gift for someone, recommend it... it's a really great book.

I was amazed how much I enjoyed and learned from the short advice format. Best buys under $100. Books you've most often given as gifts. What failure or apparent failure set you up for later success. What advice should a new college graduate ignore, and so much more. I totally loved the mentoring connection and authenticity from Ben Stiller, Terry Crews, Patton Oswalt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Neil Gaiman and so many more. This book is so much fun.

Tim Ferriss did an excellent job asking the interviewees good questions. The one that I liked the most is what changed their life most in the last five years. Taking only answers to this one question, I discovered plenty of new ideas for how to improve my life.
My three favorites are:
Engage in your “fear practice” for two minutes each day.
Take the Enneagram test to better understand who you are.
Start to believe that we are all mini gods.
I found a total of 21 great habit ideas that improved life the most for the famous people that Ferriss interviewed.
All of them you will find in my app HabitCoach (available in AppStore and Google Play, written together HabitCoach).

Mentorship is very important in leading a successful and not so painful life. In this book Tim puts together a cornucopia of leaders in all fields imaginable in order to sift out some finer details and identify common threads for success and failure avoidance. It is a smorgasbord of info that you can literally skip around in and find what you are looking for. Amazing book. It should be on every bookshelf in the world.

Excellent read. It was a great way to start my morning for the past month. I loved the diversity of the interviewees, and learned a lot about people I never heard of. The questions were simple enough to let the interviewee elaborate in their own form. It also set a clear underlying message from all people, success is made from your own path of hard work and dedication. Just keep learning from others (mentors and books) while doing so. I'll leave it off with my favorite quote from the book, "Happiness is a choice you make and a skill you develop."

I’m not sure why so many negative reviews.. this book is NOT tools of the titans, it is different and great in its own way. I really liked the repetitive questions to the “Titans.” This different approach(for tools of Titians) resulted in me learning a lot from the different answers. This book is great, worth the money, and I will be recommending it. Maybe it’s just my personality though, which I was prompted to explore from reading this book, that makes me enjoy it more thoughoughly. It answers a lot of “why,” which is so welcomed to a ENTJ like myself.

Unlike Tools of the Titans, from the beginning of Tribe of Mentors I found relevant to where I am in life at the moment. Tim Ferries is not the voice of a generation - he is a voice of many. I'm still trying to figure out how he manages to meet everyone he writes about! This book is a great addition to any library, and If you have a need for a "Millenial" gift this year, you can't go wrong here!

Another excellent book from Ferriss. Highly readable. Filled with valuable insights and "out of the box" thinking and approaches to the issues and challenges we all face in the personal and professional. Would be an excellent gift to any college or graduate student as well as any personal or professional contacts who might be experiencing transitions or inspired to make life changes. Ferriss has a way of condensing complex ideas into accessible prose without losing any of the substance. It's a long book but I found myself devouring it in less than two days. This is a great "entry point" for anyone who might be interested in reading personal development from the best and brightest but isn't sure where to start.

Found this to be a book of people I don't admire saying things I don't agree with.
One question he had them all answer was how to say no to people. That is the high ideal we all ascribe to? Being able to say no?

I have read and listened to Tim Ferris for quite some time. I appreciate the insight he gives and use it to examine my own thoughts and behaviors as I try to live my best life.

Useful and interesting book. Read the introduction to understand book organization and how author intended book to be utilized. Once you've done that you will get more out of it and have expectations matching author's intent. I recommend this book to anyone taking their life style and thus the life habits that shape it, seriously.

I've never read a book by this author before. I was intrigued by the premise and found that I really couldn't stop reading this. I'm a psychotherapist - I spend most of my time listening to people who are really struggling with some of the issues that this book touches upon. The theme about saying no and defining one's boundaries is wonderful. As is the theme about self doubt and self criticism. This book is normalising, inspiring and quite addictive reading. Very interesting that many of the interviewees practice mindfulness as I rely on this as the cornerstone for my work with people. I will be recommending this book to clients as I feel that this book could be helpful to many. I shall certainly come back to it periodically I feel.

I really loved the format of the book. Having almost the same questions asked to a variety of people allowed me to extract the most common and effective patterns. I'm really enjoying taking my time with the book!

We know about sequels. Titans was an extremely hard act to follow. Mentors is still a good read with highly actionable information whether developing a reading list or reflecting on ways to improve your own quality of life.

I loved Tools of Titans and have used the book as a reference book since the day I bought it. I purchased Tribe of Mentors the day it came out and love it too. I am only on page 100 but have underlined and digested a bunch of good stuff. I will have this book on my desk right next to Tools of Titans and go back over and over to glean more wisdom. Timothy Ferriss (Tim) you certainly have had two back to back out of the park Grand Slams with these two books. Congratulations on another World Class Book!
