I really thought the book was admirable. I gave this book a one star rating because of the ending. I understand that is was supposed to be a cliff hanger, but it ruined the whole book and series. Why did everyone become the complete opposite. It didn't even show Nekoda.

I have to think that Sherrilyn Kenyon just got tired of writing in this series. To end the book with Nick having "dreamed" the entire thing is so stupid. I will now never read any books she may happen to write in the Dark Hunter, Dream Chaser, etc series because with this book...it's all just a dream that putzy Nick (for that is what he is at the end of this book) had.

I have always been a fan of Ms Kenyon. I was a little bit disappointed regarding this book. I bought all the chronicles of Nick and waited in anticipation that her readers will finally understand the extent of Nick power. It was nice to know that even his dad is supposed to be very bad and selfish, at the end he showed how much he really love Nick 's mom that he is willing to sacrifice himself in order to save Ms.Gautier.
I expected more about this book since this is supposed to be the final on chronicles of Nick. The other books are more engaging to read even though it's a bit redundancy .

Nick now has his driver’s license and he will use it though turning sixteen isn’t quite what he thought it would be. Most boys his age are thinking about and worrying over prom dates and college applications. Nick is neck deep in enemies that are more than happy to make sure he doesn’t make it through another day. He is no longer sure just who he can trust or if he can trust anyone. His one ally seems to be the one person who he was told would ultimately kill him.
Life is anything except ordinary when it is spent serving the undead. Now his enemies have summoned an ancient force that is powerful enough to have the gods in fear of it. As Nick learns to control and command the elements he must master the one that will help him combat his latest foe and it is also the one that is most likely to destroy him. As the old saying goes fire shows no mercy. If Nick can survive this latest round he will ultimately have to sacrifice a part of himself. Sometimes though the best sacrifice isn’t the sanest move. Sometimes it is the one that confuses your enemies the most. Sometimes you have to trust the enemy to save those most important to you though what you are supposed to do when the enemy is yourself is anyone’s guess.
This is proving to be a fun series that gets better with each book read. It will also have readers eagerly wanting to read the next book. Seeing how Nick grows with each book and how he bumbles his way to saving the day makes for a book that is very difficult to put down once the reader starts it. The situations get more complicated and yet how Nick gets out of each one will have the readers at the very least chuckling because only Nick seems able to get into so much trouble trying to do the right thing. This is proving to be a series for the keeper shelf. It is also a series that just seems to get better and better. It is fun to revisit earlier versions of the Dark Hunters and see how time has changed them.

Inferno is the fourth book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicles of Nick series so this review may contain spoilers for previous books. I'm going to assume that anyone who reads beyond this point is up to date with the series so look away now if you're not!
Poor Nick doesn't have the same worries as most sixteen year old boys, instead he has the weight of the world on his shoulders knowing that he has to change his future so he doesn't kill everyone he has ever met and cared about. As if visits from his future self weren't enough to cause him stress he has just discovered that his girlfriend was sent to assassinate him and there is also a mysterious entity who is set on destroying both him and his father so they can claim the Malachai powers for themself. Heartbroken by Kody's betrayal Nick has to decide who he can really trust to have his back when he needs them.
I started reading the Chronicles of Nick series before Sherrilyn Kenyon's adult Dark-Hunters series but since I have recently started to devour her adult books I find I'm enjoying this series even more. I'm still only about 6 books into the Dark-Hunters series but getting to know Kyrian, Asheron, Simi and the others has just made me appreciate the appearances their characters made in Inferno even more than usual. Ash has definitely become a firm favourite but Simi never fails to add humour to the story and I loved her interactions with Nick in this book. It was also great to see Ash from Nick's perspective and I really like how Ash is always there when Nick needs him.
I felt that Inferno was a slightly slower read than the first three books, it was more character driven, particularly in the beginning, but that's great because we really get to see Nick do some growing up. I also felt like we got to know Caleb and Kody a bit better and find out more about their backgrounds and their motivations for helping Nick. I did find myself slightly frustrated that Nick let himself be caught up by Casey's attention so easily but I guess most teenage guys would have reacted the same if they were approached by a beautiful girl so I'll forgive him just this once.
The pace really picked up in the second half and that's when I found I didn't want to put the book down. There are a lot of interesting revelations, some great fight scenes and some poignant moments between Nick and his friends and family. I still love Nick's interactions with his mother Cherise, it's so sweet to see how much he loves her and how far he will go to protect her from everyone, even himself. Inferno is another great instalment to the series, it ends with a killer cliffhanger that means things are sure to get VERY interesting in the next book, Illusion. I'm just disappointed I'll have to wait until next year to see how it all plays out!

I was thisclose to dropping out on this series. I'm not usually a YA reader, but I make a few exceptions with authors whose adult series I enjoy. Reading the Nick books seemed like a no-brainer since it is so intimately entwined with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter books. But the early installments were just too young for me. The characters, their thoughts, the dialogue, even the way they were treated by the adults seemed even younger than their chronological ages. It alienated me. It felt like there just wasn't enough growth.
I'm glad I gave it one more shot. While this is still nothing like the Dark Hunter books in the romance department, I finally feel like we're seeing the characters evolve and mature. There is a minimum amount of Cherise (who I have grown to truly dislike reading,) far fewer "gah"s, and less ruminating from Nick in general about being a misfit kid. Now before you do too much celebrating, there is still a big old message (not even a little bit subtle) about being true to yourself and fighting bullies. But still... improvement.
As the book begins, Nick is dealing with the revelation that Kody is not who she appears. She may be, in fact, an assassin sent to kill him. Of course, we the readers are privy to who she really is and why she is there, but this is a tough pill for Nick to swallow. He breaks up with her, feeling heartbreak for the first time. Thankfully, the teen angst is only a small part of the book.
The larger arc centers on someone targeting both Nick and his father, trying to get to the Malachai mojo. It gets a little complicated with all of the players. But it's got a good amount of intrigue and momentum. What I liked about it, is that the series arc actually moved forward in a big way. I felt like as much actually happened towards moving along the series arc in this book --as in all the previous ones combined.
There are a lot of cameos and shout-outs to Dark Hunter characters and how they fit into the big picture. There are explanations and flash forwards. It's a fun ride. And Nick is so much less annoying.
I think the Epilogue is going to garner some mixed reaction. It's clearly the set-up for the next book, but I hope it's not the subject of the entire installment. For me, that would be a complete throwaway. I won't spoil it, but IMO, it equates right up there with an entire book that's a "dream" and will have no real impact on the series as a whole. But I will give Kenyon the benefit of the doubt and give it a try. After all, she came through in this one.

Nick doesn’t know who he can trust anymore. One of the people he thought would never hurt him was actually sent to kill him. His father wants to kill him more than ever before, and his mother is in danger. With what seems like everyone coming after him, will he allow pride to change the person he is? Will he cause the very future he is trying to save himself from? This book was good, just not my favorite of the series.

Fourth in the Chronicles of Nick urban fantasy for Young Adults as we observe Nick Gautier's young life in New Orleans.
My Take
Ooh, can you say preachy? Kenyon wants to be sure to get her point across about bullies and that nature can counter nurture with the prime mantra being love. It's also a touch vague, and you must read the taglines at the start of the chapters as Kenyon flips back and forth from past to future. It can be confusing and includes possible dreams of the future, Nick's future. One that means no one else has one.
I don't know if it's just me---maybe I've read too many of the wrong stories, or maybe I've overdosed on YA---but it seems as if Kenyon's writing has become a bit more simplistic in this one. I must confess that I was surprised to learn that the Chronicles of Nick was considered a YA as Kenyon's writing--up to this point--had been on the same level as her writing for her Dream-Hunter and Dark-Hunter series. So I am disappointed that she's simplified her words in Inferno. It's not to say that it's a boring story--certainly not. Just...that bit of edge has gone.
Oh, boy, Nick really is a teenage boy---he's buying every word Casey is saying. He doesn't even ask Casey how she knew where he worked. Although I can understand how Nick falls for her message. It's a good one--if it had been delivered by someone who did have Nick's best interests at heart.
A number of back stories in this: Caleb's love life and the truth of his enslavement, a rehash of Bubba's losses, the evolution of the first Malachai, more from Ash of his childhood, why older New Orleans houses have so many french doors, and Nick's even earlier days get a rehash.
There is all sorts of drama throughout from teen angst heightened by Nick's supernatural issues, attacks, escapes, kidnappings, fantasies, and, at the end, some major role reversals. I cannot even begin to speculate as it's so never-before-expected and off the wall!
The Story
Too much is changing in Nick's life. Betrayals, dreams, voices in the ether, surges of power within Nick himself.
Surges that are upping his attractiveness quotient with women coming on to him. A most uncomfortable situation.
The Characters
Today's sixteen-year-old Nick Gautier is the future's Ambrose in a confusing back-and-forth. He's also the future Malachai, the most horrible, terrible demon to threaten the universe, and Kyrian's Squire. Nashira is a spirit who lives within the pages of a book given to him by Ambrose.
Cherise Gautier is his loving and protective mother whom nobody wants to anger who works at Sanctuary. His father is Adarian, the Malachai, and he's in prison.
Nekoda "Kody" Kennedy has been Nick's girlfriend. A girl who brings him calm, peace. Then he learns the truth about her. Caleb Malphas, a dread demon general, is enslaved to Nick's father and commanded to protect Nick at all costs. Lilliana is the one who tamed him, loved him, died for him.

My Take
Ooh, can you say preachy?

I have been following The Chronicles Of Nick series for years now. Every year, I anxiously await the next book which I can never seem to get enough of.
Plot: Back in Nick's shoes, things are stirring up pretty up quickly. Drama with Nick fighting his dark side, with girls, and of course drama with friends. I really enjoyed the progression of the story. With each chapter Nick is learning more about himself and the destiny that sits on his shoulders. The struggle between good and evil, makes the reader anticipate Nick's every move.
Love: At first, I re-guarded it as childish love. But man oh man, did it turn a different way. I won't say much but know that there is much more that what the reader thinks. I'm hoping they can reconcile but with teens and emotions, you never know what will happen.
Family: I adore Nick's mom. She totally reminds me on myself cause I am very protective of my son and kiss him every chance I get. No matter how big my baby boy gets, he will always be MY baby boy. Nick's mom learns that he is growing up and does her best to let go and let him make choices. I totally admired her ability to know her child well and of course be there for him, no matter what.
Inferno definitely heats up every single moment. With the future racing toward Nick fast, Nick must over come his fears. He learns hard lessons and learns who his real friends are. Keeping the action fierce and characters well written, Inferno is awesome!

"I like this series better than her adult series. There is less mating drama, and Ash and the other Hunter's are so much more interesting when he's dealing with these young ones. I loved it, it was fun, adventurous, touching and frustrating.
Nick is still struggling with his powers and the realization that he may be the end of all he loves. He is changing, faster than expected. His trust is broken between him and his girl. His knowledge of what her job is hurts him too deeply to ignore.
When a hot cheerleader come onto him his teenage hormones drag him to her body where he finds it really nice. Yeh, except everything is not what it seems, is it ever ? His father is weakening, forces are after him, his hormones are wild, his controls are slipping and he finally gets to drive. He's already on the edge, then his mother goes missing. Can you say ballistic ? Things are a changing, and Nick and friends scramble to keep up."

There's just something so special about The Chronicles of Nick series that keeps me coming back for more. The 4th installment in the series is an extremely promising installment to the series and delivers all of the humor and fun readers have learned to expect from Kenyon. I have no idea how long Kenyon expects this series, given the fact that her The Dark Hunter series is more than 20 books strong and it doesn't appear to be ending soon. I'd be happy to read a few more installments in this series, but it looks like Illusion is the last book based on that ominous description.
Inferno is still a lot of fun, despite that it's a bit dark and more gritty than the past 3 CoN novels. I really don't mind the slight change in tone because Inferno is a wonderful novel. The way Kenyon juxtaposes the future and the present in this novel is executed perfectly. This just might be the best book in the Chronicles Of Nick series yet! I'm really impressed with the direction Kenyon is taking this series and I'm hoping Kenyon maintains the same quality in her future novels.
One of the most incredible things to me is how much her characters have evolved since book #1. Every character has developed in so many ways and no one has remained indifferent to the strange, paranormal world. Even after 4 books, the characters are as interesting as ever and they still feel extremely fresh. I have a feeling that I'm not going to get tired of these characters anytime soon and I just hope these characters remain being their likeable selfs.
Inferno is a fast-paced thrilling read that I devoured immediately. The Dark Hunter mythology worked extremely well in this novel and it's even interesting to me, despite the fact that I've never read a Dark Hunter novel. I haven't read any of Sherrilyn Kenyon's adult novels, but I have a feeling that reading them will help add another layer of enjoyment to the CoN novels. SK's Dark Hunter series has so many novels already out, but I'm up to reading them all. I am really looking forward to reading more from Kenyon and I hope her other novels are as entertaining as Inferno was.

For those like me who hated the last book because of Cherise will be happy to know she has a little part in this book. And yes, that means this was an incredible read. The fun we had with book one and two is back with book four. I love this series!!!! If you liked books one and two then you need to read this one.

Just turned 16 and has his drivers license in hand. This should be a time of fun and easy freedom with thoughts of girls and prom. But he was born Nick Gautier. He is the son of the Malachai and has a future that is death and destruction. Nick's just learned that is girlfriend has been sent to kill him and his enemies are closing in on him once again. Nick would gladly take some easy fun any day instead of current problems.
Excellent read! This is the 4th installment in the series and by far one of the best. Inferno is fast, intense and the stakes are raised. No spoilers here but I will say to Dark-Hunter fans that the Prologue will get you right in the heart. As ever, I was blown away by the story and especially the ending, I didn't see that coming. I can't wait to get the next book to see how Nick is gonna get out of this one. If you haven't picked this series up, definitely do so.

This book is just like the rest of the series, it was a bit slow to start all though a lot happens and a lot of information is given. But once the action starts it doesn't stop, great book best so far and can't wait for the next one!

GREAT BOOK! Nick is awesome! This series is great! The storyline is engaging and makes you pay attention because there is so much going on. Nick is one of the best characters I've read in a long time. I love mythology of all kinds so this is definitely something I loved. I can read these kinds of stories ask day. Sherrilyn Kenyon had created such an amazing world with many varied characters that is hard not to get pulled in. I can't wait to read on in this series.

Yet another wonderful addition to an amazing series. I love how Ms. Kenyon writes and draws you into a world so well. It's as if you are watching it on a screen right in front of you. The entire world she builds is so real and all the emotions you get wrapped up with while reading you can't help but love the dude and laugh at this quirkiness.

I read all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's book... I have been a fan from the very beginning... I am am an adult and reading is my passion but I have never cared for "young Adult" Books.. The one exception has been this series. So well written with Characters I love... It is also so nice to be able to hand this to my teen daughter for her to enjoy and for us to be able to discuss.... 5 stars all the way from page from page one till the last word ... ;-)

I read a variety of books. Sometimes you just want a break and to have fun. This authors books are my break. I also like her vivid descriptions of the places her stories take place at. It takes me there with her characters. A good storyteller.
