I absolutely loved this anthology of Sherrilyn Kenyon's back stories for characters that pop up in the novels. The Gallagher story revealed more about Acheron and his interaction with the human race, while I loved Acheron's role in bringing a werewolf together with his werepanther wife. The werewolf has a famous bar that makes it's way into numerous stories. I loved the variety and the information-one of the stories made me go back and re-read "Styx" for the connection to the characters. Just a great, quick read!

Sherilynn Kenyon is one of my favorite authors, but there were several of the short stories that I didn't care for. I loved seeing most of her characters and visiting with them briefly, though it was a tease!

I love her book .but when you have a up date on one could you please give a reminder of where the book ended and which book it came from. there are so many good books to remember and can't seam to do that ,or if it s a start to a new book when to look for it to be released.

Dark Bites almost seemed like a Christmas special. So many of the stories focused on the holidays in the present and past of the dark hunters. Very well done if your a fan of the series I'd recommend it

I don't know why people disliked this book so much. I loved it. I thought it was a fresh spin adding the fae element. I didn't want to put it down ever. It was just as engaging as all oof her other books. I personally can't wait for the next adventure!

I loved this book, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Dark Hunter Series and was thrilled to see a new book. Some great new characters and backstory for old ones.
If you like Paranormal Romance the try this one. I never give 5 stars as there is always a possibility of improvement.

My very first book by Kenyon was "Born of Fire" and I have been reading her books ever since. I love that the women are super strong and the men sexy as hell. These stories can be read over and over again. CB

I guess I interpreted Dark Bites to be a series of short stories in and of themselves. Although I did find some to be sufficient to enjoy, I was highly annoyed that some were just excerpts from other stories, some of which I had yet to read. It would have been very helpful if the author would have noted where to find the rest of the story...That is, from which of her books were these "bites" taken, as she did with the one about Styxx.

I didn't like the book at all. It was called a dark hunter short stories. The stories were repeats from previous books. The rest where just aweful. I love the Dark Hunter series but I have to give this one a thumbs down.

Saw Sherrilyn Kenyon's name on the book and thought Dark Hunter. She is one of my all-time favorites. Couldn't have been more wrong. These short stories were amateurish and beyond boring. What happened? I stopped reading them because I hadn't come across one Dark Hunter story. Maybe there were some but I didn't want to waste any more time with this book.
Think I'll just stick with straight DH books.

This was an amazing addition with short stories that further the Dark Hunter series. These are "short stories" but are by far not novellas. They're five or so chapters long but there's good character development and action to lead the way. While some stories focus on love & romance in the best Kenyon way, others focus on continuing to develop the storyline in the overall DH series (aka, what's the deal with Marissa and why does Nick want to get to her?). So there's a bit of everything and it's a great read. I read it out of order (I finished it and am about to get to Styxx) but it's not an issue. There are no spoilers by now, but I guess I had to fight to remember some of the characters (which is what happens when it's such a big universe). Overall, I highly recommend it to any fans of Kenyon's.

What do you do with all of the short stories written around the Hunters that have been written over the past ten plus years? You combine them all into one massive collection and call it Dark Bites and watch as her millions of fans anxiously await its release. Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of the industries’ best selling authors with many of her series intertwining with one another creating a unique reading experience simply not found elsewhere.
“Because the pleasure of your company is worth the pain it causes me.”
Dark Bites is not a good starting book for those who thoroughly enjoy a phenomenal series, and I don’t say that lightly as you might find yourself quite confused and instead of enjoying Kenyon, might be persuaded not to read them. If you have an open mind it will hook you with ‘House of the Rising Son’, chapter 1, and quickly have you running out to read all of the series. I hope you have some vacation time saved up. Kenyon’s character and world building is unique and vividly draws the reader into the stories. It will play with your emotions and have you questioning the world around you. This is a must-have compilation for all Kenyon and fantasy fans!

A very good collection of Kenyon's short stories. They were short, sweet, and to the point with most of her recognizable characters from the Dark-Hunter universe. Characters and plots were exactly what I've come to expect from her books, and was left overall satisfied with each addition. Hot, steamy quickies that live up to the Kenyon name.

I've only read a few books by Sherrilyn Kenyon before this one, so I was dubious of whether I'd be able to follow the plot lines or not but rather than confusing me, Dark Bites simply made me want to read all of the books that the shorts were linked to. I think these stories were designed to give a more in depth look into some of the favourite characters from Kenyon's novel length books and it made me keen to learn more! I have already purchased a whole bunch which I'm looking forward to reading :)

An amazing collection of short stories by a favorite author. Almost exclusively Dark-Hunter stories, this collection is a must have for fans of the series. Plus two other non-paranormal stories that I loved. Excellent read.

Fantastic! Great stories from Sherrilyn. Would love to see some of them added to and made into their own book. Especially love bytes. By far the best story out of them all. Great little snippets if you need to be persuaded to read any of her other books. I however own and read all the other releases, so was just icing for a large and satisfying cake.

This is a collection of dark short stories, I found most interesting and imaginative. It is hard to review short story collections because there are so many stories, it is had to single one out. I found the author's writing style easy to read and follow. I am interested in trying one of this author's novels.

I haven't read a book full of short stories ever but it Sherrilyn Kenyon so I could resist. There were so many stories of all the characters I always wondered about. I do wish there had been more to some of them but I feel I got some closure know about some my favorite characters.

I do not understand why rape had to be included in the first novella. It's a heinous crime, and took the goddess/mortal love story somewhere it did not need to go. Then when I read some of the reviews posted here, and realized that rape was a recurring theme in more of the stories. I wondered why the author felt it necessary to repeatedly go this route? Shock value? An easy way to get sympathy for a character?
It's bad enough for fictional characters to be victimized, but so many real life human beings have been traumatized by this crime. I find it a truly insensitive ploy to use to drive story after story in this collection. As it is a recurring theme in the rest of the novellas, I chose not to read the rest of this book.

This book is a collection of most of her novelas . Some I have read before, some I haven't. The one with Nick & Ash, too much anger & Hatred ( Nick towards Ash) It really needs to stop. It's toxic! But I loved It and read the book in two days. I wanted a book like this and so glad she came out with some of her previous work.

A really great collection of short stories. Giving insight to various characters in Sherrilyn Kenyons multiple series. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys the fantasy/paranormal/vampire genre.

finally gave up after trying to get through the stories. I had been a fan of Ms. Kenyon but this is likely to be my last attempt to keep reading her books. Too much rape combined with "oh poor poor me, I can't love because…" With the exception of the Chronicles of Nick, the stories are all just the same story with different places and names. There were two stories of interest, one involving Fang and the other Nick--but they weren't enough to redeem this collection, the rest were uninteresting and even, in some cases, annoying.

The best collection that I have ever purchased. The book contains all of the DH short stories. I realized from reading/listening that I had missed several of these stories. I'm glad I made this purchase. Now I have to go back to some of my favorites and re-read them!!!

While I like her books it's obvious that writing novellas is not for her. The stories are rushed. You don't get a chance to get into them before they're over. You can't connect with the characters because she contradicts them every other paragraph. If you want to read it get it from the library.

I noped out of this one quickly. I picked it up at the library, so hopefully I can be a warning to the rest of you. Honey, the author would stop hitting you if you'd just listen better. She does it out of love. C'mon back, baby.
For the love of all that is (un)holy, go find something that isn't full of tortured comma-spliced run-on sentences. Go find something that respects women and avoids the bodice-ripper tropes of girls just needing enough respect taught to them before they can fully love their dark and tortured man. Go find something that doesn't try to to have the Marty Stu fix a neck wound with a tourniquet.
