A book for Alexion. He seemed to be always in the shadows. Quiet. Elusive. Then he meets Danger. They mesh so well. She doesn't trust Alex but there's a soul deep pain in his eyes whenever she looks at him and it calls to her. And Alex sees a woman who's had a difficult past but doesn't let her color her world or emotions.

I really enjoy Kenyons works and I so look forward to the rest of the Dark Hunter series. the store is the best place, in my opinion, to get all of her titles as well as any other author that I'm intersted in.

Good story about Alexion and Danger. Now that I have read "Acheron" I know a lot more about things in this book and read it again! Awesome story. Made me cry at end first time I read it. Good read!

When I ordered these books I thought they were just fantasy. I didn't realize they were romance and gratuitous sex. Please the store if I order other books like this please let me know so I won't . You should really put a warning on your books . I dislike romance novels. I like mysteries. I like L J Smith. Medical mysteries etc.

Alexion is the one that’s sent in when things go incredibly wrong. He’s Acheron’s right-hand man and even lives with him and Simi. However, his existence is a secret. When the Dark-Hunters go bad, Alexion is Ash’s judge and executioner. And, when he leaves the Dark-Hunters, none of them will remember he was ever there, well those that are left alive anyway.
Stryker’s newest plot to eliminate Ash is to convince a group of Dark-Hunters that Ash is actually a Daimon and that he devoured their souls. Stryker is using Kyros to call the Dark-Hunters together, and many are believing Stryker’s lies. And, our female lead, Danger, was close to believing it herself when Stryker described Ash’s destroyer and Alexion was at her home when she arrived, matching the destroyer’s description down to the white coat he wears.
Danger was less than pleased when her possible executioner informed her he was staying at her house and that she was going to have to introduce him to the Dark-Hunters for him to try to save them and to ultimately pass judgment and possibly kill her friends. She didn’t know who to trust, but after she spends time with Alexion, she realizes he is truly there to help and they grow close. But it turns out that Kyros was his friend when he was human. Kyros is so hurt to learn that Alexion has been alive all this time while he felt insurmountable guilt for his death, that he can’t trust him now. Can Alexion and Danger sway his way of thinking in time to save him?
I wanted to like this book, but all in all I was pretty disappointed and rather bored throughout. The relationship between Alexion and Danger came about rather slowly. And, even the action in this book seemed to run into slow motion. This book was just way too easy to put down.
I actually did like Alexion. His attempts of getting in Danger’s pants was most pathetic and funny at the same time … well until she finally decided she wanted a piece of him just as much as he wanted her. However, there wasn’t nearly as much steam between these two as I had expected. Their sex life was about as bland as the rest of their relationship.
Danger did not live up to her name. I was expecting her to be a total badass, but she came off as a plain Jane that didn’t really bring much to the story.
There wasn’t a lot of Ash in this story as he was trying to keep himself from interfering in Alexion’s fate, and honestly, I greatly missed him.
This book just didn’t do it for me so I hope the next installment in the series is more impressive.

Alexion is sent in when Dark-Hunter’s go rogue. He and Danger meet when he arrives to stay with her in the execution of his duties. Danger is not too sure about Alexion when he shows up after she asks Acheron to check out someone she thinks may be going against his oath. She trusts no one after being betrayed by the person closest to her in her human life. Alexion has felt his humanity slipping from him as he goes about his existence, feeling nothing much anymore. That is until he meets Danger, and she brings feelings forward in him that he hasn’t felt in centuries. Will they be able to save the Dark-Hunter’s in Mississippi or will they be past the point of no return? Another enjoyable read by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Alright we've all been waiting ages for it, and while I can not say that Sins of the Night was the best book in the series, I can say they I hungrily devoured it in 2 days of rabid reading. If you are not familiar with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series or missed the last book - STOP! You will be completely confused by the back story and won't be able to properly enjoy this book. It is not a stand alone novel! Go back and read all the yummy books in this series first in order to properly enjoy. That said...
Alexion is not your average Dark-Hunter. In fact he's something all together "other". And while he may not seem the most intimidating of our deadly supermodel like heros, he can be the most hazardous to your health. Dangeruese, our first starring role female Dark Hunter, learns this first hand when the two souless lovers fall for each other. As an assasin for Acheron who only comes out to play every few centuries Alexion could wipe out the entire Dark-Hunter race with a thought.
If you've enjoyed learning more about this mythical culture, hot love scenes, charonte demons, Simi's lust for QVC, or want to know exactly what the hell is happening with poor Nick Gautier buy this book! You'll enjoy it. You also need to figure out exactly where you've read about Alexion before. Trust me he is a memorable character- only under his original name from thousands of years ago. I won't spoil the surprise!
If you haven't had a chance to read any of the books in this series or if your just scratching your head because you've missed a few here they are in chronoligical order:
Fantasy Lover - Julian's Story
Night Pleasures - Kyrian
*Dragonswan - (a Tapestry anthology that will publish as a full novel later this year)
Night Embrace - Talon
Phantom Lover - V'Aiden (in anthology Midnight Pleasures)
Dance with the Devil - Zarek
Kiss of the Night - Wulf
Night Play - Vane
Stroke of Midnight (anthology containing short story of were-panthers)
Seize the Night - Valerius
Sins of the Night
Enjoy!

It's been a few months since I last read a Dark Hunter novel. But for the life of me, I can't figure out what changed. I used to really enjoy these books, but if this one is any indication... I am no longer impressed. It was so mediocre!!
As I came into Sins of the Night after reading a MG title (I am a versatile human being, I know..) I suddenly notice how I DON'T see much difference between the writing style. And considering the targeted audience between the two is so vastly different, that bothered me to no end.
Then there was the insta-love. All the DH novels suffer from this affliction, but this one especially so as from the get-go we're told Lex only has 10 days on earth. So, obviously, he was going to fall madly, head-over-heels in love in that short period. Gag.
The probably most disappointing thing, though, was Danger herself. She was no kickass. She read exactly the same as any other heroine out there, lacking the Edge the counter male dark hunters had. And considering all the allure of this book was FINALLY seeing that exact edge in a female, it was a huge let down. If you're looking forward to this like I was - either lower your expectation, or skip this one all together.
But wait, there is more.
I also used to hold the DH in high regards - but their falling into the lie being spun to them about their leader, by their freakin' ENEMIES, the Daimons? Big no-no. I am left thinking they've got no brain cells, whatsoever.
The ONLY redeeming feature of this novel is Simi and Acheron. I love these two, especially together, and I loved watching their family dynamics - especially with the added role of Lex.
All in all, extremely discouraging. Not sure where I stand with the rest of this series now.

** spoiler alert ** Once again, a very good read. It wasn't one of my favorites but the story gave more insight to Acheron's world in his own realm Katoteros.
If you read the story "The Beginning", you will remember how the first Dark Hunter came about and how one of the three (Ias) just wanted to go home to his wife and kids. So Acheron got his soul from Artemis and took Ias to his wife and gave her his soul so she could make him mortal again.
However we know that ias wife didn't truly love him and couldn't go through with the ritual and in return Ias became a shade because as we know part of the deal from Artemis is only a true, pure Heart can release the sould back into a body. The one person who loves the Dark Hunter above all others. A person they love and trust in return.
Acheron blamed himself for this disaster and as we find out in this book, Acheron took Ias Shade into his own realm and made him the Destroyer of the Dark Hunters that went bad - he is known as Alexion. Not only that, he was so angry with Ias wife that he turned her into stone and took her statue into the realm and place her outside Ias room so when he came out he could laugh at her stupidly.
The Dark Hunter "Danger" and Alexion find themselves in love when Alexion comes to earth to give his friend (Kyros, one of the first DH that was made along with Ias) a chance to change his ways before Alexion had to kill him for preying on humans and going against Acheron.
Xirena, another Demon like Simi is intorduced and turns out to be Simi's sister. Xirena becomes bonded with Alexion and is reunited with her sister Simi.
"Danger" is killed by Styker - by his deadly personal knife. Alexion is heart broken and angry at Acheron, but deep down he knows why Acheron couldn't interfear with the free will and fate of the ones he cared about and loved.
Once back in their realm Katoteros, Alexion goes to his quarters and is surprised to see "Danger" there, Acheron had come to the rescue again, he couldn't change the fate that happened on earth but he could bring her shade to his realm. So Alexion and Danger got a happy ending to be together for eternity.
Now Acheron not only had Alexion and Simi living in his home but Xirena the demon sister to Simi and Danger, Alexions love. Ash's family is growning.

I have the Audiobook version. I loved this book. I’m not going to go into the breakdown of the story… everyone else seems to have done that. I will just say that this whole series is addicting and each book brings a new level to the overall story. My only complaint is that the narrator kept getting he/she mixed up. A women might be talking and instead of saying “she” he would say “he” and vice versa. It was very frustrating. Even though I knew by the context what he meant it was still very distracting. Now it’s possible he was reading the book exactly and the mistake was the authors (since I was listening to it and not reading it I don’t know). But other than that I LOVE the series. It’s an amazing story.

Alexion has spent centuries working as Acheron's executioner, it is his job to make sure the Dark-Hunters don't step out of line and he is the one who carries out the punishment for any of them who fail to follow their code. He is forced to live separate to the others, unable to spend long in the human realm and wary of making friends that he may be forced to judge in the future. In fact to most of the Dark-Hunters he is just a myth - the ones who do see him rarely live to tell the tale. Now he has been asked to pass judgement on a friend he knew in his human lifetime, someone he hasn't seen since his early years as a Dark-Hunter. He owes it to his friend to try and save him but can he find a way to bridge the centuries old gap between them? Danger is a female Dark-Hunter who is incredibly loyal to her friends, she would never allow Alexion to hurt them but she can see they are on a slippery slope, one that it will be hard to come back from even with her help. She will do whatever it takes to make them see the truth but their enemy is an expert at spinning lies and turning the Dark-Hunters against everything they should be standing for. Danger knows that Alexion has been sent to kill them all but her only choice is to work with him if she hopes to save any of the people she cares about.
I've become a huge fan of this series over the last few months and Since of the Night is another fantastic read from Sherrilyn Kenyon. This story is such a fun read and it was so full of humour and it had me laughing out loud on several occasions. I loved getting to see another side to Acheron and any time spent with him and Simi is always time well spent. Alexion is probably the closest thing Acheron has to a true confidant, someone who knows more about him than anyone else and it was great to see that strong bond between them. I actually liked seeing that Acheron isn't infallible, he can and does make mistakes but it's the way he reacts to them and works so hard to fix things that make me respect him even more. Alexion is like an older brother to Simi and I loved their interactions too, he and Acheron are both so indulgent towards the demon that it is hilarious to see them all together.
Danger is the first female Dark-Hunter we've really spent time with and I really liked her character, she is a fierce warrior and can definitely hold her own against the daimons she fights. She doesn't trust people easily and keeps others at a distance but once you've earned her loyalty she will defend you with her dying breath. She is wary of Alexion at first, especially because she knows he will think nothing of destroying her friends if they go ahead with the rebellion they are planning, but as she gets to know him she sees that he does everything in his power to convince the Dark-Hunters that they are in the wrong. Alexion doesn't want to kill anyone if he doesn't have to but it is his job to make sure they stick to the rules and he can't allow Dark-Hunters to go around killing humans. The enemy they are facing is a clever one, someone who is able to twist the truth and make it look like Acheron is the bad guy when he has done nothing but protect them for centuries. Alexion has seen first hand everything that Acheron has done for them so he is livid that they are so eager to believe the lies and he won't stand for it.
In a lot of ways I think Sins of the Night was a lighter hearted story than some of the previous books in this series but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. The banter between Alexion and Danger is fantastic and I loved watching their relationship blossom but I also have to give a shout out to one of the new characters we are introduced to. Xirena was absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to see more of her as the series continues, I'm not going to say more about who she is or how she fits in but she was a fantastic surprise and I loved her. I can't wait to continue devouring this series!

A friend of mine got me into reading the Dark Hunter series, and I've been burning through the books ever since. I was particularly looking forward to this one since it was the first time that a female Dark Hunter was featured as a main character.
The story is about a character named Alexion. He is essentially Acheron's right-hand man/executioner. He is sent to Mississippi to deal with a potential uprising of Dark Hunters against their mysterious leader. He stays with a female Dark Hunter named Danger who was a victim of the French Revolution before she was turned. From there the two engage in saving as many Dark Hunters as possible and falling in love along the way.
I found the back-stories for both characters very intriguing as it does stray outside the normal routine of Greek mythology in the case of Danger. Alexion's past sheds a good deal of light on Acheron's and introduces us to some interesting new characters. We also learn much about how the Dark Hunters came to be thanks to a little short story at the end of the book. I personally liked Alexion. His particular predicament was unique to the Dark Hunter universe in that he is not in fact either a Dark Hunter or Were-hunter as we have previously seen. He is something altogether different. We also see Stryker again who becomes more developed as a character and villain. I was however a bit disappointed with Danger. While her past was entertaining, she reminded me a bit too much of Tabitha and Cassandra (past love interests in the previous books). She was feisty and could take care of herself, which I enjoyed, but there was nothing there to truly separate her from the others. The romance between the two seemed uneven as well. There were moments that seemed genuine and natural, but others seemed incredibly forced. Also, I'm beginning to see plotholes in the universe Ms. Kenyon has created. I found myself scratching my head at some points. Still despite these flaws, the book did have a satisfying ending without being overly cliched as can sometimes happen with these books.
Overall, it's a good, fun read. Alexion is a likable character, and the plot is entertaining enough to hold the reader's interest. I will be back for more.

I'm torn on this book. I like that we get to see another side of Ash and that Alexion is not your typical Dark-Hunter but I wasn't as engaged with this book as I had been with previous installments in the series. Alexion's story is rough and I wanted him to have his happy ending, don't get me wrong, but I never got that punch to the gut feeling that the other books gave me.
That said, I do think we learn some interesting things about the overall world here. However, you have to wade through the lies and half-truths that Stryker is feeding the other Dark-Hunters to get it. Even Alexion gives half-truths and non-answers when Danger asks him questions about Ash. I think that's why I love poor Acheron so much -- he's wicked mysterious in these earlier books.
I like Alexion. Danger is... kinda meh, to be honest. I like the glimpses we get into Stryker's head. I love that we got a bit more on the Charonte demons (SIMI!). We also get an interesting little Savitar/Ash interaction.
While it's not my favorite in the overall series, I do like that things are never easy and no two HEAs have come about in the same way. I shall continue on with my reread and see what the next book brings!

~Dark Hunter Series~
~Sins of the Night~
~Book 8~
In the realm of the Dark-Hunters, there is a code of honor that even immortal bad boys must follow: Harm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love. But every now and again, a Dark-Hunter thinks himself above the Code.
~That's when I'm summoned. Who am I? I'm the one thing the fearless fear. Step over the line, and it's my wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can sway me. I am relentless and unfeeling. Or so I thought, until I met a female Dark-Hunter who goes by the name of Danger - it's not just her name, it's how she lives her life. She doesn't trust me at all. And who could blame her? She alone knows that I'm here to be judge, jury, and most likely, executioner of her friends. Yet she is my key to saving some of them. Without her, they all will die.
"Dangereuse St. Richard is a deadly distraction. Something about her is reawakening a heart I thought was long dead. But in a race against evil, the only hope mankind has is that I do my duty. And how can I do my duty when it means that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I've ever loved?"
we've learned a lot more About Alexion "Ash's" right hand man and Ash, I like Danger's character she doesn't take any guff from anyone, and she's kind and caring (person)/Dark hunter. I think she is Very Good For Alexion and he for her. Xirena is sent by Stryker to kill him, until alexion tells her the truth, talking to her he finds out that she is Simi's Older Sister that Simi had been taken from her many years ago Alexion tells her Simi is alive and has been Very well taken care of! that he would take her to Simi, Xirena asks Alexion if she can serve him (the way Simi Serves "Ash") after thinking about it he agrees.
Xirena, finds the Television Fascinating, changing channels Xirena finds QVC they were showing diamonique LOL as Simi Calls them Spraklies then she heard Simi she had called in to Qvc she freaks out tells alexion that's my Simi, yes it's Simi lex said.

Her name is Danger and she is a female Dark Hunter. She used to live a life of sin when she first became a Dark Hunter, but now, her suspicious eyes land on Alexion, an unexplainable new pawn in this deadly game. All Danger knows is that Alexion is a major threat to her and her friends. It's very likely that he has been sent to execute them, but despite this threat, there's this inexplicable pull that lures her closer and closer to him. Will he strike or will he succumb to her desires?
SINS OF THE NIGHT seems much more lighter in tone than some of the other books in the series. Despite the dire threat of Alexion and what he has come to do, Danger's wit seems to really shine through and gives this book such a rich backdrop to explore Alexion's character and see what makes him crack. Danger lays on her charm thick and Alexion doesn't really stand a chance at stone-walling her. They hit it off and though this still isn't my favorite book of the series, it's still a solid instalment for the Dark Hunters.
Sherrilyn Kenyon always writes one or two awesome scenes in each book and for this particular one, the Troy scene really made me laugh. I love SK's humor and it's nice to have a balance between all the action and the hot-and-heavy scenes. Something light to lift your spirits certainly makes a good book even greater.

Who does the fearless fear? Who can hunt the hunter? Who can punish those that have gone off the deep end? Let's say sucking human blood, human souls? Killing for no reason. Who comes to call for justice then?
His name is Alexion. He is such a quiet man who talks soft and carries a big stick. Never want to meet him face to face in a dark alley or in a crowded street. He is truly the Angel of Death. Lighting fast reflexes and never takes prisoners. Nobody would dare start an argument with him.
That is until he met Danger. Danger is that lovable girl next door, while killing daimons 6 at a time with no sweat. And she doesn't care for anyone to bully her. So when this handsome Alexion comes walking by every woman would start to drull while Danger would rather beat his butt to the ground.
Is Danger what Alexion is looking for for help? Or is she just someone else he is going to have to dust?

Just when we thought that Acheron and his New Orleans Dark-Hunters have finally neutralized Stryker and his Spathi Daimons, we now see them wreaking havoc in Mississippi. Spreading lies about Acheron and Artemis, a few Dark-Hunters are falling for their vicious game leaving Acheron no choice but to send his own judge: Alexion.
A former Dark-Hunter turned Shade, Alexion is the one thing that even the most savage fear. Void of any feeling or emotion, he cares not whether the hunters lived or die. But while he exists solely for the purpose of doing his duty and upholding honor, everything will change when he meets Dangereuse St. Richard.
A noblewoman betrayed by her own husband during the French Revolution, Dangereuse sold her soul to the goddess Artemis to avenge her and her family's tragic death. For over two hundred years, she has lived the life of a Dark-Hunter, dutifully fulfilling her end of the bargain. But when a fellow DH turned rogue starts recruiting hunters to join in the rebellion against Artemis and Acheron, Danger is now faced with the problem of saving them. But is she right to put her trust in the man who claims to have been sent by Acheron himself to bring judgement upon those who refuse to be saved?
In SINS OF THE NIGHT, Sherrilyn Kenyon tells us the story of Alexion and his existence as a Shade. After dying as a Dark-Hunter, we see how he has lived an utterly lonely existence, unable to feel or even taste, but forever suffering from the hunger that could never be appeased. And this is why you can't help but feel for his longing when he meets Danger. She is a welcome change from a world of no color or emotion. The way he was drawn to her vibrancy and warmth, making him long for something he could never have, was sad to read about, most especially the part when he wished that he could have a part of her to take back with him to Katoteros. As for Danger, well, she's a real dynamite in a small package - brave, smart and sexy. I loved the interaction between her and Alexion. The exchanges are witty and the love scenes sensual.
Featuring Sherrilyn Kenyon's trademark humor and fast-paced action, SINS OF THE NIGHT is another fantastic addition to this popular series. Not only does she gives us another intriguing insight into the world of Dark-Hunters and everything supernatural, but by going deeper and deeper into Acheron's secrets, she taunts us and makes us crave for the next installment in the series.

In this latest installment of the Dark-Hunter story we are not only treated to the "Beginning" but we are given a little bit more information regarding the legend of the Dark Hunters and we are introduced two amazing characters that will truly touch the reader. This is the first Dark Hunter story that made me cry!!!
Alexion has come to Mississippi to judge those Dark Hunters that are entertaining the idea of a revolt against Ash. Alexion has been sent to Danger, a Dark Huntress who still manages to retain a love of "life" despite the downside of being immortal. She makes Alexion feel "alive" for the first time ever. This man is different from any other man she's ever known. Who is he and what is he? Will she be able to help him at the same time protect her damaged heart from being broken yet again?
This like every other DH read is very engaging. Ms. Kenyon though this time around has created characters that will truly touch the reader. You will feel their pain, happiness, and love. She has given us a little more insight into Ash, and still manage to leave an air of mystery. This is one series that I highly recommend. Each book is amazing and this is a fine addition to anyone's personal library!

In Sins of the Night we're introduced to a new Dark-Hunter character, rejoicing in the somewhat unlikely name of Danger. (Her real name, Dangereuse, is no less likely, as it happens). She's based in Mississippi, and Dark-Hunters in the area are rebelling against Acheron. He's a Daimon in disguise. He's going to betray them all. He's going to kill them. He'll send his messenger of death, a man in a white suit, to murder them. So, they are arguing, they need to join with the Daimons and fight Acheron.
Danger isn't sure what she thinks of all this - but she knows exactly what's happening when a man in a white suit mysteriously appears in her home. She knows that he's come to kill her. So she kills him first... and is then astounded when, after turning to dust, he strolls back into her living-room.
Alexion is no ordinary man. In fact, Alexion isn't even his name; it's his title. He's Acheron's right-hand man and enforcer. When Dark-Hunters step out of line, Alexion is sent in to kill them. The only problem with this is that it's the first time we're seeing Alexion! He supposedly has lived in Kalosis with Acheron and Simi for centuries - so why has he never appeared in earlier books? Why, in fact, were we told in Dance with the Devil that when a Dark-Hunter goes bad there is a complex judging process?
Okay. So, if we can overlook the reversal of Kenyon's own canon, Sins of the Night becomes the usual fun and excitement we can expect from Kenyon. Alexion and Danger are highly attracted to each other, but Danger is wary of casual sex and won't start a relationship which has no future. They both know it has no future because Alexion can't survive on Earth, in the guise of a mortal man, for more than a couple of weeks. Alexion is a former Dark-Hunter, the first to become a Shade (his story is told in the short excerpt at the back of the book, though it would have made FAR more sense for this to be a prologue. Some readers will have read this already, on Kenyon's website). Acheron saved Alexion from eternity as a Shade, but imperfectly. We're never told what form he has in Kalosis - a plot hole, in fact, because someone (no spoilers here <g>) who has known him on Earth sees him in Kalosis and recognises him immediately. The body he uses in Mississippi - his own body when he was alive - is temporary.
Alexion, however, hasn't had sex in over two hundred years, and he pursues Danger with determination. At the same time, though, there are Dark-Hunters willing to kill, and Alexion and Danger must fight them with no help whatsoever from Acheron - which is another part of the book which fell flat for me. Why would Acheron simply ignore their requests for help? Oh, sure, to make Kenyon's planned conclusion fall into place, but it felt forced for me. As did the sudden discovery that Dark-Hunters who become Shades aren't damned, doomed to walk the earth for eternity, unseen, unheard, forever hungry, thirsty and in pain. No: Dark-Hunters Acheron likes get something resembling a life back again. Only Dark-Hunters he doesn't like remain Shades. So is it really such a big deal? And maybe the rogue Dark-Hunters have a point, after all, if Acheron is really so prone to acting on whims and personal feelings.
Not the best Dark-Hunter novel by far - I'd probably still place it above Night Embrace (Talon's book, which I really didn't like), but I'm hoping that the next book will be better - and will let us find out what's happened to Nick since Seize the Night.

The Alexion. Judge, Jury, and Executioner of the Dark Hunter force. The Alexion is called in to determine if a Dark Hunter is salvageable, if not, to destroy the immortal.
Warning:
1. If you are not a Dark Hunter fan, you should not read this novel without reading some of her previous work. There is a great deal of backstory that you must understand for this to make sense.
2. There is a foreward at the beginning of the book asking the reader to go to the end of the book and read the short beginning. Please do read that first.
That said, I loved this book. I stayed up all night reading the story of Danger and Alexion. Though most of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books are independent enough that you can read them alone, you won't want to. This story is not one of those. Dark Hunter fans have waited a long time for this installment, and I, for one, was not disappointed.
Dangereuse St. Richard is the firs Dark Hunter female we've really got to spend time with. While others have been mentioned, this is the readers first insider track, so to say. She is a petite thing created during the French Revolution, murdered by her husband. It is noted Artemis must have taken special liking to Danger, for Artemis' taste run to taller women who are more of the same stature of the Daimons they fight.
A rebellion is brewing in the backwoods. Dark Hunters are drawing together with restless thoughts and unease. A Daimon walks among them, sewing seeds of discord, and some of the Dark Hunters are buying in. Hook. Line. And Sinker. The Alexion is sent to save those who can be saved and judge those who cannot, and he's starting with Danger.
Kenyon weaves her magic spell yet again in this novel, touching the reader with the profound emptiness these Dark Hunters carry, the weight they bear protecting the humans who don't know them, who wouldn't believe them, and who live in blissful ignorance of the "other" things that live in their world. The humanity of the immortals is awesome.

Danger is a Dark Hunter. Alexion is like Ash's squire but he is also the judge, jury and executioner of the Dark Hunters. He is sent to Earth to judge them. He is the first Dark Hunter to be a Shade. They hunger and thirst but it has no taste, they crave human contact but can't feel touch. But he never expects to fall in love while on Earth. Him and Danger must try to save the Dark Hunters there while fighting their feelings for each other because they now nothing can come of it. When his mission is over he will return to Katoteros and Danger's memory will be wiped and she will never even remember him.

Well, since the store for some reason decided to delete almost all of the less than four-star reviews of this book, I'm having to retype this review. Luckily, I always keep copies of my work so the store won't get rid of me that easily.
For the most part, I really enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon's work. Certainly, the quality of some her other series has been really shaky (and there are a ton of them), but you can usually count of the Dark Hunters series to deliver an exceptional read. I have never been dissapointed with a true Dark Hunter book... until now. Such a shame as I was looking forward to the first book with a female Dark Hunter. It's not a bad book, but after such intense and well-crafted previous installments in the series this one just doesn't measure up. Not once was I particularly moved by the plight of the characters, even when they are dealing with some serious stuff. I'll explain in a minute.
In the last book, I complained about the messy loopy plot. Here, thankfully, the plot is much tigher, but as a trade-off, the characterization suffers greatly. Alexion is Acheron's, the Dark Hunter leader, "squire". When word reaches Ash that that Kyros, a Mississippi Dark Hunter, has struck an unholy alliance with daimon general Stryker, and is stirring up a rebellion with rumors of Ash being a daimon, Alexion is dispatched to diffuse the situtation. If that fails, he will execute all parties involved. Alexion is also a Shade, the ghost of a Dark Hunter who fell in battle and is cursed to live between life and death, meaning he can only live on Earth for a few days. He teams up with Danger, a female Dark Hunter who is initially suspicious of his motives. She's not sure who she should trust, if anyone, but eventually sides with Alexion and Ash. She and Alexion fall in love over the course of the adventure, of course, but how but can a Shade have a relationship with anyone... let alone a woman who is sworn to spend eternity battling evil?
The plot actually makes for a compelling story, as does the side plot about Simi's relatives, and brings to light some interesting facts about the mysterious Acheron, but characterization of the main characters is where Kenyon falls asleep at the wheel. Usually, she is very good about slowly revealing the character's histories, playing her hand close to the breast and giving relevant and often suprising facts with perfect timing. Here she takes her bucket O' characterization and just dumps everything at the readers' feet. Before the fourth chapter you will no everything there is to know about these characters. I mean Alexion already knows Danger's entire history and is infatuated with her before he ever comes to Earth. Kenyon has been trying to build up the mystery about Alexion's true identity for several months on the website that serves as a supplement to the series, but completely ruins it by giving it away before the first page of the story is turned in the novel's preface. That's not the characterizations only problem, as Alexion is by far this series most lifeless and bloodless hero. His flat personality doesn't do much to infuse him with any sex appeal, and sometimes he even comes across as downright unsexy. He's kind of like a Ken doll. Great physique, but still plastic and artificial at the end of the day. Danger isn't much better. She reads exactly like the heroines who have come before. Shouldn't someone whose lived as long as she has and experienced what she has have well... a little more meat to her? And as for her battle prowess... Tabitha Deveraux came across as tougher and more impressive. When these two are together without anything plot related together, the story is dead in the water.
I have to concurr that the book feels like a stepping stone to Ash's story as he feels like the main character at time and he rarely even appears in the book! His novel can't come soon enough, because though I'm sure it'll be a good read, he's starting to feel like a deus-ex-machina plot device that becoming an albatross around the series neck. After what happened at the end of Seize the Night where he turns a dark ending into a they all lived happily ever after- well except for Nick ending, I could never take the grave and mortal peril Alexion and Danger were experiencing seriously. Even though they do the "this love is impossible" song and dance, never once did I believe Asheron wouldn't come in and make everything better. In earlier books, being a Shade was said to be just about the worst thing that could happen to a person, so the consequences were dire if a Dark Hunter failed a his mission. Here it's revealed that Ash fixed it so the penalty for becoming a shade is actually very mild. Well, since I think fiction is much more exciting, and I don't think ANY genre ever should get a pass on this, when there is an element of uncertaintity to it. The characters can succeed or fail, and they experience the consequences of what happens to them. With Acheron here to play Cosmic Lifeguard for everybody, it just sucks out that element of uncertaintity or even the need to make sacrafices to reach the goal- such as having to choose between love and eternal life and ultimately having to lose neither. No matter how much these characters fret and assure me that the situation is dire, I can't take it seriously.
I eagerly read this book in two night, but it is a weak entry into the series. It's interesting plot and revelations about Ash make it a must for long time readers, but the tepid leads make it a poor choice for newbies to start with.

Ok, me, I have kept up with the series and read every book around the day it is released. One thing people need to know is you have to read the books in order. You cannot start in the middle of the middle of the series and expect to get the full effect of the book in the series.
Now, for th book itself. It was a great book. It seemed like a new begining of sorts. It brings us to another branch of the dark hunters, and it is totally different then what we are used to. We are used to hot, steamy New Orleans and it's dark hunters who are all aquanted with Ash and have a complete oppoiste mind frame then this branch. Its cold here. Most of the hunters are not familiar to us very much. But, its a whole new leg for the series. Another branch that can go on and on. This whole series has endless possiblilties. That is one thing that the book points to. It is a little slower, that is what I will call it, but it has some much waited for answers to things we have been wondering sience reading Julian's story.
The book was awesome, even if it was slower. This series needs this book for its content. The story of Alexion and Danger is very intense. From the start it seems to be doomed. There is no way to get around what is going to happen when Alexion has to leave. I thought I knew who he could have been, but I was not sur. His identy is not kept a secret exactly, but it is definelty not put out there for you and it is not an easy answer. Alexion, like all the dark hunters, has a deeply touching story. Jumps in and rips your heart out at how unfair it all is. The ending of this book was fantastic. It had me going. I could not see how things were to work out after the climax between teh good and bad. Felt like my heart was breaking. Out of all of the dark hunters, I saw how much Alexion needed someone. His character really reaches out to you. I thought Danger was, humm, well, a female dark hunter. She was very strong, took care of herself. She had a dose of attitude, did what had to be done and cared alot for those she was loyal to. I liked their story. I liked how they fell in love. I liked it all.
I would not say my personal favorite for the series, its and awesome book. It fits right in the series and is an important link for the series. It has one of the best endings of the series though. I was stunned, completly. It made me cry, I will admit it. The book also has Sherrilyn's humor that has shown up in every book so far. But they all are serious in their own way. This book is going on the keeper shelf with the rest of the series, as I sit here and already eagerly wait for the next round, in whichever name is publishing next. This is a world like no other out there.

SINS OF THE NIGHT by Sherrilyn Kenyon is the eighth full-length novel in the Dark-Hunter series, which are paranormal romances that feature hunky undead men who fight otherworldly bad guys and serve Greek gods. This novel is set in modern-day Mississippi and involves Alexion, a new character whose job is to kill Dark-Hunters who turn evil. He enlists the help of Danger, a female Dark-Hunter, who falls in love with him. The problem is that Alexion is not human, and once he kills the rogue Dark-Hunters, he will never see Danger again.
When I first began reading this book, I was uncertain if I would like it because I couldn't recall reading about Danger or Alexion in the other Dark-Hunter books. If anything, I'd rather read about Fury or Fang or the Peltier clan or Nick or any of the Dark-Hunters ever mentioned. At the same time, I wasn't all excited about reading about a female Dark-Hunter. To me, the appeal is that they are gorgeous bad boys, emphasis on boys....
Anyway, I found I actually enjoyed this novel. It was one of Kenyon's more focused works, and she spent a lot of time writing about the couple versus writing super-long sex scenes or other scenes featuring bad guys, etc. Plus, she was able to provide a lot of detail about Acheron without making him the most important character in the novel. I appreciated that.
While I would have liked more background on both main characters, I thought Alexion and Danger made a well-matched couple, and they were easy to believe in and to see together as lovers. I was a little disappointed that Danger didn't seem to have any special abilities, but oh well. The conclusion of the book especially pleased me because it didn't involve the typical "Acheron saves the day" ending, and the epilogue featuring the two demons was cute.
Overall, I enjoyed SINS OF THE NIGHT, as it was a little different but it still satisfied my cravings to know more about their world, especially Acheron's secrets.
In fact, if I had to rate my favorite Dark-Hunter stories, it would probably go #1) DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, #2) FANTASY LOVER, #3) "Phantom Lover" in MIDNIGHT PLEASURES, and a tie for #4) between NIGHT PLAY and this novel, SINS OF THE NIGHT.
However, if you are new to the Dark-Hunter series, I would not recommend reading SINS OF THE NIGHT first, as it gives away way too much info about Acheron, plus you'll be missing out on lots of back story and characters. Do yourself a favor and read the prologue to the series, FANTASY LOVER, followed by Dark-Hunter #1) NIGHT PLEASURES. If you like those, you'll no doubt be interested in the rest of the series.

I have loved every DH novel up until now. This one was a bit of a letdown compared to all the previous ones. The story dragged on and didn't really move all that much. I didn't care for the two main characters either. I kept waiting for the chemistry between them to pick up and it never really did. Even the "sexy time" scenes were uninspiring. They just weren't "believable" as lovers. I've never really experienced that in a DH novel. All that being said, this isn't a bad book. It's just not up to Kenyon's usual standard. I will say that one highlight of the novel is learning more about Ash's dragon Simi. That was super fun!

I look forward to each book in this series. Kenyon faithfully provides steamy sex scenes and hunky men. This one had a bit of a twist on her "normal" paranormal romances. First off, the Dark Hunter is a woman ("Danger") and the hunky male is, well, Other ("Alexion"). Hey, I'll even give you a clue, Alexion is not a name, but a job title. Apparently, a revolt is happening among Dark Hunters in Mississippi and the Alexion is called in to either straighten them out or eliminate the whole lot of them. Only he had no idea just how difficult it would be to keep his mind on his job, especially when he meets Danger.
The reason why I gave it four stars instead of five was because it did not keep me hanging on the edge of my seat. Yet, I still wiped it out in just two nights. I think for those Dark Hunter fans out there, it would definitely be worth your time. Those of you who have not read any from the series. DO NOT begin with this one, you will only be completely baffled by what is going on. This is not a stand alone novel. Either way, happy reading!

Let me begin by reitterating what many other reviewers stated. If this is your first Dark Hunter book STOP and read a different one! It is NOT a stand alone.
As the book jacket tells you, this is the story of the Alexion and a younger Dark Huntress, Danger. I enjoyed finally having a female perspective on the role of the Dark Hunter and their lifestyle. She was not nearly as angry as any of the men and enjoyed her quiet time.
The Alexion was a very unique character with the ability to love and destroy in the same breath. His relationship with Simi was highly entertaining.
Though I enjoyed this book, I was a bit disappointed. It lacked the magic the others hold and felt a bit forced at times. I must admit I missed my other Hunters who at least make an appearence in the other books. I wished for an indepth account of Danger's life before committing her soul to a goddess for revenge like the other books have.
It was a good book overall since it has added yet more knowledge into Ash's true nature, I just wish he had participated more.

This is the first of the Dark-Hunter Novels that I've read. It was fairly easy to pick up with this book. The Author's Foreword suggested reading the short story "The Beginning" that was at the back of the book first. This sets up the reader with a basic understanding of the Hunters and where they come from.
Now it's modern day and the Dark Hunters are violating the rules and drinking human blood and not killing the Daimons. Alexion is sent to kill all those who have abandoned the code. He meets with a Dark-Hunter called Danger and begins to understand what love really is. Danger who trusts no one finds herself trusting this man who is so full of secrets. Together the try to talk the other Dark-Hunters back into the fold.
Alexion has a time limit and the Daimon's who are leading the Dark-Hunters astray are pulling out all the stops to kill him. Can Alexion and Danger save the majority of Hunters from death? Can they learn to trust each others? What will happen when Alexion has to return to his plane of existence?
There's enough to keep you turning the pages to the wee hours. The sex is non-violent and more of the romantic variety. The plot keeps you reading because the characters are interesting and varied.

Sherrilyn Kenyon kicks out another great Dark Hunter Book. This time our Dark Hunter is a Woman, (Hurray finally) Danger and our Hero is Alexion, who can best be described as "other"
`Sins of the Night' follows what happens when Dark Hunters go Rogue or Bad. Alexion is the man who is sent to judge whether they can be saved or if they will die and become Shades. Obviously, this is a love story about Alexion and Danger but the underlying story is powerful and answers many of those questions DH fans have been screaming for.
We learn more about the Elusive Acheron and his 'Daughter' Simi. We also learn more about how the who Dark Hunter thing evolved. However, if you are looking for all those old familiar characters from other books you will be disappointed. A few are discussed but only a handful of secondary characters from previous books actually surface in this one.
This book had me riveted and I enjoyed it greatly but compare to her other DH books this one isn't one of my top three, but it's a definite keeper for my library one that I am sure I will reread again and again. This book made me laugh, grimace and I definitely cried at the end.
Now I can only wait, with baited breath, for the next one to be released.

While this is nowhere near my favorite DH novel, it does a great job explaining more about Ash's past and the creation and evolution of the Dark Hunters. For one, I feel that it was an abrupt change in having it set in a totally different area than where most of the previous novels had taken place. I do like how it explaining more of the past, but did feel that parts of it were rushed and not written as deeply as it could have been. However, I LOVE all the DH novels and can't not give it anything but 5 stars, just to keep the overall rating of this novel up.
This series is one of my favorites, I LOVE them all - so pick up the first book that started it all, and get hooked!

With Danger and Alexion being outside the usual crew, I wasn't sure if I was going to love this book. But I shouldn't have doubted SK. A wonderfully written addition to the Dark-Hunter Universe, and it was smoking!

I have been a huge fan of the Dark-Hunter series from the beginning, but this most recent installment was sadly disappointing. The story begins with Ash granting Alexion permission to leave the realm of Katoteros to avert a Dark-Hunter coup in Mississippi, which is being spurred on by Ash's nemesis, Stryker. Alexion wants to intervene to save an old friend of his from making a terrible mistake by believing Stryker's lies. It seemed like a good story line, except that it required the reader to really empathize with Alexion, something the book really failed to do.
Against this somewhat shaky plotline is the romance of Alexion and Danger. These are two of the blandest and least interesting characters in the Dark-Hunter world. Alexion seemed fairly resigned to his fate, and spent an inordinate amount of time quoting Ash, which made me wonder if Alexion had a personality and thoughts of his own. For Danger, I was expecting a smart-mouthed spitfire, and she failed to deliver on that front. She went along with Alexion's plans rather easily, and lacked that biting personality that all previous Dark-Hunters possessed.
As usual, Ash performed one of his deus ex machina endings, although in this case it wasn't quite the one you would expect, and for that I must give SK credit for breaking from her normal mode. However, as I was completely indifferent to the characters, it really did not have the impact it should have.
For those who are huge fans of the DH world, you may want to read this book for the information it reveals about Ash and the always irrepressible Simi. If you are looking for a good romance, though, I would give this one a miss.

I have to start this review by saying I have had a love-hate relationship with these DH books. I would love one, then would hate the next. I have struggled with the quality of the writing, which I found simplistic and at times cheesy. But with this installment I am now officially hooked-the story lines are so good and the characters so interesting that I'm over it- I don't care about the quality of the writing or the cheesy lines. I love this series!
While I have had a negative review or two for SK's books in the past, I really don't understand the negative reviews for this one. I think overall the plot, writing, and character development have never been better. You find out some very interesting things about Ash which advances the story line. Alexion and Danger are awesome characters and the chemistry between them jumps off the page. There are no slow points in my opinion.

I liked the story, I loved Alexion. Danger, she was starting to get on my nerves. I got to liking her though as the story went on, but at first she was turning me way off.
I was glad I didn't give up on the story, as at first I kinda wanted to, because it turned out so good. I just kept thinking that he deserved a better Heroine. I hate to even say that though, because Kenyon is an awesome writer.
The story was a little convoluted at first. Sort of tossing a lot of info. at us quickly. But once I felt like I got caught up, I really got into it, and couldn't put it down.
Do I feel this is her best? No. Zarek's story was one of her best.
Do I feel some questions were answered? heck Yes!
Did I love the way she ended it? Oh my god, Yes. Best ending... I loved it, was nearly in tears.
Is Alexion everything I could have imagined? A resounding YES. He was so heartbreaking, so tortured. My heart, my soul went out to him. I think I actually lost something of myself when this book ended.
And even though I felt the first couple of chapters were rough sailing it still won me over... as all of Kenyon's books usually do
I loved that Simi has a sister, she deserved that. I wonder how they will work Xerenia into future stories... I wanted to get a bigger glimpse of "Raphael"(a fellow dark-hunter)... his character intriqued me. I hope we get his book in the future.
At any rate, my overall feel for this one was: Great. Not Excellent, but it was better than just good. :-)

It took me a month to get through this novel. After page 114 it was good, and it was full of all the things I loved about the previous ones. It just took a while to get there. The characters aren't as loveable and engrossing as they were in previous books. The new secondary characters weren't introduced as well as has been done in previous books, but eventually we learned enough about them to care.
The end of the book was succinct. Again, unlike the previous novels there wasn't a lot of explanation at the end, though it did wrap up well.
I did enjoy the main characters. It took me a while to warm up to both of them, but in the end their connection and at least one situation they were put in brought me to tears.
This is not the best of the Dark-Hunter novels that I've read so far, but it does move the story right along and helps bring a lot of answers to a lot of questions I'd built up so far.

I don't know WHAT everyone else is talking about when they say how horribly this book was written. Granted, yes, if you were looking for the 5 pages of straight sex that occurred in so often Kyrian's book (great story by the way), then you might be a little dissapointed. However, I thought this book was wonderfully written, and I could NOT put it down. Alexion is well written, interesting new face and this book gives you lots more insight into Ash's "secret identity". It was no where near as bad as Wulf's story *Shudders at how rushed that book was written*, and though the ending was just a little dissapointing, it was a very worthy read. I can't wait until her next book!

I am a huge fan of the Dark Hunter books, but Alexion and Danger's story was a disappointment. Totally cardboard characters! The only point to reading the book is to add to the information we know about the DH world, since it provides some information that lays groundwork for future stores. I really think that Kenyon is spreading herself too thin by writing several other series along with the DH (both as Sherrilyn Kenyon and Kinley McGregor). I didn't really think the Valerius and Tabitha romance worked in the last book in this series, but at least those characters were acceptably fleshed out. I hope the series gets back on track with the next story.

Dark Hunters are going rogue, and someone has come to stop them. Alexion, aka defender, has come to Mississippi where widespread doubt and betrayal has invaded the minds of the Dark Hunters, thanx to an enemy of Acheron's that wants nothing more than to destroy him and all Ash holds dear - the Dark Hunters.
Alexion has been sent to Dangereuse St. Richard, a female Dark Hunter than Acheron believes will try to help save the rogue Dark Hunters before their judgment. He must overcome her distrust of him, and that is not going to be easy. He has come to kill her friends, those who live as she does, so how can she help him knowing this? Making this more difficult is Alexion's unwillingness to share information about Acheron, information that he insists is not his to share, and Acheron's refusal to interfere. How can she trust either one of them if they are not willing to even help her understand what is going on? She has been betrayed before by someone she trusted - she wasn't about to let it happen a second time.
I've followed this series from the beginning, and I am constantly intrigued by the characters and histories Sherrilyn Kenyon creates. While this isn't my favorite in the series, I also found it shed a lot of light on some past issues while continuing to tease us with hints and possibilities for upcoming stories.
I can understand some of the more negative reviews because with a long-standing series, the expectations get greater, and we may not understand why things happen the way they do. My disappointment was that we miss a lot of the characters from previous books, some of whom have been left hanging, and I'm anxious to "see" them and find out what happens. But we learn more about Simi, even a little more about Ash, and something about the history of the Dark Hunters and Ash's "mistake". That is what keeps me coming back - those tantalizing clues to what may or may not happen.
I was happy with this book. I admired the loyalty Ash and Alexion had between them, and I felt my heart go out to both Danger and Alexion for the pain they suffered, and while it's predictable that they end up together, it's how it happens that is intriguing because it fits with the events that lead up to it. Take nothing for granted with this series, and never think you know what's going to happen, because Sherrilyn Kenyon will do something different.

I have noticed that the author has some hits and misses in this dark hunter series. This was definitely a hit! She mixed the right amount of sexual tension and attraction while advancing the DH mythology and storyline. You felt for both the hero and heroine in this story even though they were both allowed to be weak at times.
I think the only part I didn't like was the demon sub story. But I guess that will ultimately depend on where it eventually ends up. Ach, as always, hot!

At night the innocent coed left the library when the Daimons attacked her, but just when she appeared to be their feast, a Dark-Hunter appeared. However, instead of saving the human as their code demands, he feasts on her blood leaving her soul to the Daimons.
The Alexion, hunter of rogue Dark Hunters, knows he must deal with his friend Marco's breaking the code of not harming humans. Though he knows he needs to put Marco to death, the Alexion hopes to save the "soul" of his pal. However, he finds himself distracted by that rarest of Dark Hunters, a huntress Dangereuse "Danger" St. Richard, who tried to kill him as she knows he is the executioner of her kind. In spite of their auspicious first encounter, The Alexion and Danger fall in love, but duty calls, which means killing more than just his friend; he must kill the Dark Huntress he loves as she is controlled by one of the nastier Goddesses.
This is a super entry in one of the best romantic fantasy series on the market today. The story line is action-packed but Alexion's dilemma of choosing between his beloved and his duty make for quite a tale as fans will wonder which way he will go. Either way he knows his "resurrected" heart beating with love will turn to ashes. Sherrilyn Kenyon provides a fabulous thriller with a strong cast supporting two star-crossed lovers whose relationship seems tragically doomed from the start.

I have read and in some cases re-read all of the Dark Hunter books and look upon each as a continuing story. These books are never boring, and with each you find something new and different that can bring these characters to life. As in any story (as well as our everyday lives), there are events happenning that simple becomes part of our day to day existence. For me, these dark hunter books are viewed as a window into another reality. All are not going to grip me and cause me to suddenly decide the writer hasn't put enough thought or care into each book. I read for the pure enjoyment and to be taken out of my own reality. I won't be critical of the writer. Why not look at each book and main character as having a personality that is not the same as the hunter before. I personnally have my favorites, but I enjoy each book on its own, as it reveals more of their world. And in truth, most find a happy ever after. Isn't that what we wish for in our lives?

It was that much of a page-turner. Danger, a Dark-Hunter, forms a not-quite willing partnership with Alexion, Ash's judge, jury and possible executioner for rogue Dark-Hunters. Danger's friendsare being lied to, manipulated into betraying their oath. Alexion is to save as many as he can, then execute those who continue down their dark path and murder the humans they've sworn to protect. Neither Alexion or Danger is looking to fall in love, but the heart has its own reason, and even death can't stop love...
Kenyon's Dark-Hunter world continues to develop, mature and amaze. This newest story is no exception...it's just exceptional!
(There's a free Dark-Hunter companion Booklet I picked up along with the book. A glosery, a short story, an interview with Kenyon...do try to track one down. Another plus, Sins of the Night has a great short story included in it as well! Both are a must-have for Dark-Hunter fans!)

I have followed Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series from the beginning and I though this newest entry Sins of the Night was a really good read.
For those who follow the series, it explains about the history of the Hunters and Shades, what happens to Hunters when they die. It also allows the reader to be introduced to Alexion, who is created to be "executioner" to those Hunters who break the Code.
The lead characters in this book, Alexion and Danger (a Dark-Huntress) are different from those we have seen so far. You feel symphathy for these two characters and you know from the beginning that they will not have your typical happy ever after. I like that Kenyon has created set rules for her universe and stuck with her guns in writing this book. She does not change those rules for the sake of the love story, and even though readers might be irked by this it creates consistancy within her storyline. The ending is bittersweet but I dont see how it could have ended any other way.
The setting was right on target, the characters interesting and the storyline unique. It answer questions that readers have about the series (about Ash in particular and also Simi.) This book introduced new characters just as interesting as the old ones.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The only reason it does not get a full five stars is that I felt the love story was a little rushed and that the book could have been a longer, perhaps to better tie up loose ends. But in the grand scheme of things, it was a great addition to the Dark-Hunter series.
Good job, Ms. Kenyon!

First read "the Beginning," because there is necessary background into this book. I was not impressed with the relationship between the Alexion and Danger, its been a few days since I finished this book and I can't remember much. The insight into Ash was vague at best and I missed the New Orleans crew big time. Someone set up craft time for the Mississippi Dark-Hunters because they have nothing better to do than rebel against the authority figure! It's what I do with my kids!

Slightly different than the other Dark Hunter novels. We see more of Acheron and his life through the lens of Alexion. A satisfying read for fans of Kenyon, especially those a bit tired of the same old routine.
But seriously, Kenyon - "the sweetest sensation he had ever known" - STOP.

Dangereuse ST Richard is a Dark Hunter in Mississippi. Mississippi is not as active a place for Daimons as New Orleans, but it has it's own Dark Hunters and terrors just like anywhere else. Danger became a DH back in the time of the French Revolution. She lives her life a day at a time just as each DH does.
Alexion is similar to a squire. He says he is Ash's Squire. But he is a little more than that. Once a shade, Ash has saved him by taking him to live with him in his dimension. He became a shade when his unfaithful wife let him die rather than replace his soul. He is really Ash's enforcer. If a dark hunter fails in his duty or crosses the line from protecting humans, Alexion is sent to take him out.
Every few centuries a crisis arises among DH's. Ash has not been as close to the rest of the DHs as he is to the ones we know from other books. He has only recently (for Ash) let himself become attatched to some of the DHs. Because of his aloofness there are alot of whispers and questions about him. Now Stryker, the head Daimon, has started a revolt against Ash. Alexion is sent to end the fuss. Either the Dark Hunters return to their work or they are destroyed by Alexion. Any Dark Hunter who has tasted human blood is destroyed.
Alexion has never had a problem doing his job. Until this time. He meets Danger and she makes him find his lost humanity. Also one of the main leaders against Ash was one of his best friends. We learn there are alot of secrets that Ash and the daimons want kept. It seems immortality doesn't automatically give one wisdom. People will still be people with all the same faults.
Can Alexion finish his job, save his friend, protect Danger (whom he now loves ) defeat Stryker, and go back to live with Ash, without regrets? When he leaves noone will remember him, even Danger will forget. Only he will remember and he will still be alone.

I'm stunned by the high rating the the most recent reviewers have given this book. I'm a huge fan of the first three books in the Dark-Hunter series (I don't include Fantasy Lover in the series, personally, since the hero isn't a D-H) but have been truly surprised by the lack of quality in subsequent stories. Everything seems to be building towards Acheron's story which I'm sure will be great but everything in between is suffering from this lack of plot and attention to detail. Still, there are some interesting little tidbits in this book if you're a fan of the Dark-Hunters and my advice would be to check it out from the library.
This book didn't thrill me, but I'm sure I'll get sucked in and pre-order Acheron's book when it eventually comes out. :)

-=Spoilers herein=-
Here's a quick summary; Miss Kenyon must be busy writing her other series under her other pen name because this one was totally phoned in.
Our first female DH was a total disappointment. Sticking religiously to the romance novel heroine formula Kenyon made her virginal and frankly, a person with too many TSTL (too stupid to live) moments.
Alexion has promise, and also follows the formula. Sexy, confident, mysterious, sexy, intelligent, sexy, and oh, did I mention sexy?
The plot is ploddding and slow. Not faced paced as billed, it is choppy and contrived and BORING. If Kenyon actually departed from the usual storyline formula to allow a strong, capable female DH to emerge it might have had a chance.
Instead, this one is DOA.
It's really easy to figure out who Alexion is. No big mystery, and his identity is a total cop out. Keep reading for a spoiler on why that's true.
Like me, have you ever felt so sad for the poor, unfortunate DHs that are killed and forced to walk as shades, thirsting and hungering endlessly? Well, fear no more because now we know that doesn't actually happen to the DHs Ash likes.
Kenyon sort of lets us down with regards to Ash, making him seem a little bit too much like a teenager. Here he saves his friends from the Sahde fate and he whines a lot.
This book added nothing to the series and we really could have done without it. It's just like Wulf's story where she created it just to needlessly explain a realm in her world we were perfecltly happy not delving too deeply into, and she ruins it.
We used to think the Spathis were evil; now we aren;t so sure. We used to think that Shades were the most unfortunate souls; now we know they're not.
Ms. Kenyon please stop killing off the dark parts of your series. We need the dark to appreciate the light, a yin to the yang if you will.
I would even recommend to faithful readers that they skip this one. Don't start here. And you'll probably need to re-read a few older ones to get it.
All in all, if I could give it .5 out 5, I would. where is the tremendoulsy talented characterization of "Sieze the Night"? Where is the hunor of "Night Embrace"? This really doesn;t feel like it fits the series.

I don't know what book the negative reviewers were reading but it could not have been this one. Not only do we learn a lot more about Ash but the entire dark hunter story is moved forward into a new realm of understanding. To top it off the love story between Danger and Alexion was very different, unusual and took an unexpected, exciting turn. Simi's story is also given more information and the last section of the book puts it all into perspective, so be sure to read this chapter first - it's called The Beginning - if you haven't already read it on Kenyon's website. As usual with the dark-hunter series, I laughed, cried and enjoyed. By the way the love scenes were terrific, so don't listen to the negatives about that either. Read the book and see for yourself. I don't think you'll be sorry, provided you are familiar with the rest of the series. This book does not really stand on its own. You miss a great deal if you are not aware of what has gone before in the dark-hunter saga.

I really liked it. It was good to see DH's in other places than just New Orleans and I liked seeing what happened to a character whom we really had thought that his story was ended.
I have read other reviews that said they did not enjoy this book as much as some of the others, that it felt rushed to them. I didn't think that it felt rushed at all, but that is just IMO. I liked getting the clues to future books and the fact that we got a little glimpse of Nick, even though he was not a character in this book.
I am very much looking forward to getting all of the other books as they come out and can't wait for 2007, when we finally get to see what is going to and what already has happened to Ash.

I am a DH fanatic, take that into consideration while reading this review.
Over the last few years, I've read all these books, on Dark Hunters, Were's and Dream Hunters among other things that pop up in Ms. Kenyon's world at odd moments. Gods, goddesses, demons, (have there been leprachauns? mm not yet) daimons and oh yeah, a really good story that will pull you into this world from the get go.
I won't go into the ins and outs except for this.
Danger is a DH, she died in the French Revolution, and has been a good little huntress ever since. So, why is she being visited by this man that claims to be Ash's squire?
Alexion is simply put, here to chew bubblegum and kick a**, and he doesn't look to have any gum in his pockets, so you do the math.
Action packed, fun filled, snarky and fastpaced, Sins of the Night answers a lot of questions about the Head DH, Ash, but at the same time raises a lot as well.
If you like a good strong woman lead as well as a hot alpha male one, pick up Sins of the Night. If you are like me and already addicted well, what are you waiting for?

I discovered this series last year and read a lot of the books in succession. The main thing you notice as you go along is that all of the main plots in the books are annoyingly similar. Guys meets girl, she makes him feel things that no one has ever made him feel before, but he can't get involved with her because of yada yada yada.. still they wind up having sex where he often growls at the taste of her, etc, etc.
What keeps me hooked to this series are the side stories. Every book gives you a tiny bit more insight into who and what Acheron is and his relationship with Artemis is really complicated and interesting. Then, of course, there's Nick Gautier's story. The end of "Seize the Night" blew me away and I can't wait to see more of Nick.
In conclusion, these books are a great and fun read, but if you get bored with the formulaic main plot lines, hang in there for the kickass overall story.

Well, this one had me going. I really liked both main characters, and I'm a sucker for hopeless situations. And the ending was really unexpected. I loved it. Well, I would really like it for this book to be a bit longer, so that I would see how Danger will adapt to her new life, but I'm sure we'll meet them again in future book. I can't wait to read them :)

Sin of the Night is a sinful, seductive, and sensual book. After reading her remarkable novel, I was definetly filled with suspense and awe. Kenyon does not rush her story, it gently unfolds and has many delightful twists and turns. Once you start reading it, you will be hooked on it instantly. Her books are so fast paced that leaves you breathless and impatiently waiting for the next series as if it were a cure. Sherrilyn Kenyon provides a fabulous thriller with a strong cast supporting two star-crossed lovers whose relationship seems tragically doomed from the start. You will fall in luv with this book after reading it. It's perfect for any age!! Makes a good bed-time story. What more could you ask for? Go buy it!!

Sins of the Night pairs two protagonists that will wrench at your heart, find a place for themselves there and stay long, long, long after you've finished the story. Danger is an intelligent woman who is strong enough to beat the bad guys and still maintain her emotions. She longs for family, but isn't whiny or pathetic. On the contrary, you are rooting for her from the moment she is introduced. Sherrilyn writes Alexion as a man who believes he's lost his humanity, but in fact still cares, still wants to do good and fits in very well with his heroic dark hunter predecessors from other books. The plot is intricate, the pacing fast and the emotions heart wrenching. I may sound dumb, but I'm going to say it anyway because it's true. I laughed. (No matter how dark her books are, there is always a funny moment, or two. <g>) I cried. I sighed when I turned the last page, that very special feeling you get from reading a truly great book filling every fiber of my being. All I can say is thanks to the reader who suggested I read Sherrilyn Kenyon for the first time...I've never once been disappointed. This book truly is a five star keeper!

I found this book to be very very average. This series started off so interesting and it seems to me with the last three books the author is just going through the motions, wrapping the conclusions up as fast as possible. Sins of the Night was the worst offender for this.
And what is with all the juvenile homophobic remarks in each book? Quite offensive.
Hopefully Ash's story will be worth the wait, but after the brilliance of Dance with the Devil, the series has just got cornier and more cliche ridden. It's a shame because the characters and the premise of the story has the capacity to be totally fascinating.

I did not care about anyone in this story. This book is not in the same caliber as her other DH books and to me was not important to the series. It was this book and book # 9 that made me stop buying her series - two not even good read in a row is all I give an author. Maybe if they would quit turning out so many books a year the story/style would still be the same.
Your over doing it SK with the DH, Dream series and the one under Kinley MacGregor.

Sins of the Night is one of my favorite books in the Dark Hunters series. Alexion is a really wonderful, touching hero, who has a very special relationship with Ash. Can I have him, pleeeease??? I also enjoyed this book a lot because of the insight it gives into Ash and Simi, where they live, etc... Simi is her usual darling self, and she's in for a surprise of her own in this wonderful tale!! I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one!

If your a Kenyon fan this book is a must have. Kenyons style of humor, imagery, and the great contrast of things aren't always what they seem creates a wonderful story that you will read over and over.

I am a devoted fan to the DH series but was getting a little worried after the last novel. I was NOT disappointed in this one. LOVED Alexion and Danger. Could not put it down. Loved the small bits of information on Ash and the difference in the storyline. Can't wait to read the next one!

I am a big fan of Ms. Kenyon and have all her books, however I was disappointed with this one. It does not measure up to the standards she set with her previous DH books. The story was uneventful, the interaction of the characters stilted, and the sex was bland. I will keep it as I want my set complete, but it is one I will skip when rereading them.

This book was great. I enjoyed the relationship between the 2 main characters. I hope to enjoy more of sherrilyn kenyon's books on the Dark Hunters. This book included a small excerpt of the upcoming book "The Beginning". I'm not sure If I'll buy that one, because I don't particularly like Artemis. But we'll see.

This book is very in depth and very thought through. I did, however, find it hard to follow some of the times, but you can work your way through it. I love Kenyon's writing style, so it wouldn't hinder me from continuing her novels.

I've been waiting for this book for what seemed like ages, when I got it I finished it in one sitting. It's a very fast read, and I absolutely loved the hero, Lexxie.
The great thing about Sherrilyn Kenyon is that she always have a different story line for every book, and they never disappoint! You laugh, you cry and then you sigh ... and wait for the next one. (LOL)

A disappointing read...slow, superficial character development. Okay, it's gothic romance, there's not that high of an expectation for characterization, but the plot is non-existent. For DH fans who're interested in the unfolding tale of Ash's history, SofN gives some back story, but frankly, my $7 could have been better spent. Reserve your copy at the library folks. Save your money.
