I really enjoyed Annika's story. I felt is was an easy read for a summer day book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book to see how her story continues and how the story progression goes for the other characters I've grown interested in. Really hoping that a few of the other men get books of their own.

I enjoyed the book very much but was disappointed in the language. It didn't add to the book but rather distracted from it. It would have been just as good with clean language as opposed to foul language.

I really enjoyed reading this novel. Although most ideas were not particularly new or original, and some twists were quite predictable, the characters are great, the storyline is entertaining and I could hardly put the book down.
The romance is convincing and the interactions between the characters are often funny. I would have liked a bit more action/danger/drama, but it was still captivating to read.
I would give it a 5 star review but I've read dozens of fantasy books that totally blew my mind so I guess I'm getting a bit picky :-)
Overall it was a very enjoyable read and I'd definitely recommend it! I can't wait to read the sequel.

It had a good variety of fantasy creatures in it. Enough romance, action, mystery & irony to provide a nice balance of change to keep your mind wanting more of this story. Stayed true to the fantasy worlds known to most of us

This book was such a fun read! I stayed up late too many nights trying to finish it. Some of the names got confusing as they were quite similar, but they were usually secondary characters so it wasn't too big of a deal.

I normally will not leave you for a bit but this one was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to get started on the second one. Fell in love with the characters just as soon as I met them. From the fiery redhead to the Elven Prince. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down.

Emigh Cannaday's "Balkan Magic" is a most welcome escape into a magical world of elves, fairies, and passion. Annika Brisby is equal parts unsure, strong and spunky, which makes her easy to relate to. Talvi is a bad "boy" with a good heart. The combination of the two, with their banter and ultimate devotion make this page-turner a fun and often intense read. The supporting characters are well-developed and just as lovable. It's a wonderful, creative story to lose yourself in and incorporates several genres to entice every reader.

Over all a good story with an interesting plot, but at times the author left out key pieces of thought processes or background that caused to story to jump around. That, in turn, made it hard to follow in places. Then there were editing mistakes that shouldn't have existed.
I won't be purchasing any more of the series.

I liked it and I'm looking forward to the next book .. the reason I enjoyed it is because the characters were well thought out. My favorite character was Aghavni, Ohan's wife because I loved the way she got the things she wanted and needed without nagging about it

I'm usually not a fan of fantasy novels, but I'm very glad I picked this book up! The author does an amazing job of bringing a new world to life. Her words paint such a pretty scenery it's easy to picture in your head. The personalities of each character in the story is well thought out and developed. They may be elves and fairies, but they still have basic human qualities that make them easy to relate to. The only frustrating part is waiting for the sequel to come out!

Loved the story, it was hard to put down. A mixture of elves, vampires, trolls, nymphs, druids, warriors, shape shifters and fairies working together to restore things to how they were before the disappearances.

I loved this inventive new juxtaposition of worlds and the interplay of fate and love. Ms. Canada's is a skilled writer who knows how to weave a story and make it spicy enough to keep you reading. I look forward to more from her.

This book is fantastic! I couldn't put it down once I started reading, so of course I had to read the second book as well. The third book should be here soon, the characters will draw you in and make you fall in love, and the author paints a beautiful picture inviting you into their world.

The Flame and the Arrow was an interesting read. It was well written though it seems to have been written for a younger audience, so I will keep that in mind for this review. The story was fast paced and mostly interesting. I enjoyed the author's descriptions of places. I liked the main characters, though they were not particularly well developed. Even after reading the book, I still know little of their history. Annika and Talvi were on again and off again and I didn't know if I wanted them to be a couple or not because I didn't know if either was worthy of the other because I didn't really know them. Annika seemed to be rather selfish (she kept the ring) and Talvi was obviously very self centered. I would have liked for both characters to have been more developed. And since the book was geared to a younger audience, it wouldn't have hurt to teach them better communication skills!
Love scenes in the book were just awkward to me. Having read romance novels for years, and currently being enraptured with anything Diana Gabaldon, Octavia Randolph, E. B. Brown and Deborah Harkness, I've read some really well written ones, and they do not have to be graphically descriptive to be steamy. These missed the mark in my book.
Also, how many magical creatures do you really need in a story? The whole troll family babysitting/cleaning/fixing/training thing took up too much of the story and reminded me of some fairy tale I read when I was a child. I wish the author had introduced fewer characters and focused more on character development for the core characters.
The ending was abrupt, to say the least. I won't spoil it. Even with it's faults, I did enjoy the book, I had a hard time putting it down, and I am planning to read the next one. I'm hoping that as the books progress, the characters will become more fleshed out. One thing I will say is that the book is complete; it has a beginning and an ending. I'm really tired of ebook authors giving you basically a few chapters (a 100 pages!) in each book and you have to keep buying the next book to finish the whole story! It's one thing to continue stories with the same characters, it's another to make you buy several books to read one story! This one is worth the read.

I loved this book! I really loved the whole concept of Eritähti. There was a definite charm to the place. There was a lot of tiny little details that hint at larger events and I love that. Can't wait until the next book. :)

I loved this book! I bought it for free and didn't know what to expect. I devoured it and promptly bought the other two in the series! Now I'm going through withdrawal and can't wait for the fourth! I loved the characters and I felt like there was a lot of character development with Talvi and, especially, Finn in the later books. I definitely recommend!

'I loved this book. It was a fun, magical, suspenseful, a story of love, family, friendship and hardship. I don't want to give a THING away! If you read this book, you'll definitely be going right to book 2 and 3. My advice is to get all of your important things done before you start to read so you wont burn dinner or forget the tub is filling up!

I cannot figure out how this book got so many good reviews. Quite honestly, I couldn’t even make through four chapters. The main character, Annika, had the personality of a rock. To make matters worse, she was ridiculously immature. The same goes for every other character that I came across.
There was not one original sentence in any of what I read. The writing was all over the place and sounded like something from an 8th grade creative writing class.

Starts off a little slow but then gets good. Our heroine goes on a stunning adventure through a magic portal where she fights battles, finds love, and figures out who she is. A little bit young adult but very enjoyable. Looking forward to book 2.

I was thrilled with the beginning of this book and thoroughly intrigued with the storyline, that is until the first sex scene. No romance...no spark leading up to it, not really, ...just dark, inappropriate sex. Here I was, really getting into this story, then it all went down like the Hindenburg. I couldn't read it anymore. It was awful. I was willing to forgive some of the poor grammar at times, but not after that sex scene between the two main characters. It felt too dirty, especially since this scene was still during the beginning of their relationship. I have read many paranormal romances for adults (as opposed to YA), but have never come across one of such poor quality. Either the writer has never experienced true love, or, she can only write about raunchy sex. Too much experience reading Penthouse letters or using porno for love scene inspiration? I really don't know, but I had to put it down after reading that part. I was very disappointed. This book definitely missed the mark.
