Lora has outdone herself. This book is vastly different from the others in the series that I've read and I loved it. So much emotion and so heart-wrenching, this book had me in tears more than once. It also had me cursing Del-Ray quite a few times. But in the end, it was a wonderfully written book and I can't wait to read more of this series.

Coyote's Mate is another great installment in the Breeds series. This book gives us a look at a segment of the Breed population we haven't seem much, and the first look at the Coyotes as a society.

This story is more involved with the other Breed societies than the previous Coyote book and furthers the storyline as a whole, where' Soul Deep (Coyote 1) featured a solitary hero.

I highly recommend this book, which I believe is number 17 in the overall Breeds series.

Of all of Lora Leigh's Breed books, this one is my favorite. This poignant love story and conflict between a capable, courageous woman and the arrogant Breed that fights to control her is not only an emotional rollercoaster, but a well written novel that will endear the characters to your heart. I always cry when I read this book. It's so well written that the author has outdone herself. Don't miss it.

spoiler warning, maybe. I gave it a 3 instead of a 2 because I will (tentatively now) continue reading the series and because it takes guts to go out on a limb and completely break your formula. But if this was the only book in the series I'd read by her, it'd maybe get a 1.

The hottest scene in the book was unfortunately the one that you read at the end of Mercury's War. The rest were ok. That's about it.

There is very little Coyote POV and so DelRay is more frustrating than anything, in fact, he's more a person you want to punch so badly that if he was goodlooking in the book, I don't even remember it. It seemed very plot oriented this time but not much really happened that she couldn't have just written a page summary over in another book regarding. So overly wordy with not enough action. Plot wise or sex wise. Just wordy. VERY wordy. So this review is gonna be wordy too.

Anya's character started out strong and then just kinda seemed to pout the whole book and whine and be a little kid and at the end where she FINAlLY gets an apology, she was like "don't apologize, it's not your fault." Yes, it was. I had just spent over 200 pages reading about how much his fault it really was and then you won't even have enough respect for yourself to say "thank you for realizing that. Now we can move on with our lives and be happy" ?!?!?!? Let a man be a man! Let him apologize on his own and just accept it graciously! How is it that if he says he's right you don't argue with him and you agree with him even while whining in your head about it the whole time (I say whining because she does nothing to change the situation EVER aside from the first scene where she gets seperated) but if he apologizes for being a jerk you essentially tell him that being a jerk with you is ok? That he couldn't help it? Permission granted to keep doing it? Honestly... I'm going to move on. I could rant about that for a while.

I can suspend a lot of disbelief but that was too much. There was no love in the whole book. It was just misery, emotional abuse, and excuses with a couple of (not even good) sex scenes.

It brought to mind the movie "Pursuit of Happiness" where the ENTIRE movie is so horrific and miserable and then you get maybe 3 seconds of happiness at the end. I liked where she (the writer) started going, where love isn't part of the equation in the beginning and how would someone deal with it, but she lost control of her idea and it was horrible. It read like stockholm-syndrome love straight to the end, not like love or respect that any of the other books held.

Please don't say "but it's because the breed is Coyote!" It was just plain bad writing at some points. There was little character development and got far too angsty and miserable the entire book and then got far too happy and perfect in the last few pages. (In the middle/end of the book, it states that Jonas and Hope and all them are sad because they valued Delray and Anya deeply as friends. Funny, that's really the first interaction we've seen the whole book between them that wasn't completely business related! In fact, that's the first personal event seen between all of them!)

That said, it WAS good to see her try something different, experiment with completely different views/outlooks than before, to try a completely different type of character, to try to work on the plot for the main of the book. Unfortunately, the execution was a train wreck, ESPECIAlLY after Mercury's War, which was by far the best book in the berkely breed series. It was like she lost all of her great storytelling abilities and just got sucked to the dark and nasty side of male dominance. Which is fine. It's HER writing and not mine. But I have very low expectations for the next book after reading this, just as I HAD (unfortunately) high expections for this book after Mercury's War.

So yeah, read it if you must, the last chapter sets up the next book interestingly so I guess that might be worth it. If you read all the others, you're gonna read this one anyway. Just please, don't expect much. Just realize that even the fabulous Lora Leigh is not perfect and it was what could have been an awesome experiment gone horribly horribly wrong.

New York Times best selling author Lora Leigh continues her Breeds' saga with the story of Del-Rey Delgado, the Alpha of the Coyote breeds and Anya Kobrin, the woman nature made his very own.

Called the Coyote Ghost, Del-Rey Delgado is Alpha to a pack of rescued Coyote breeds who call themselves Team Zero. Fighting in covert operations the world over, the Coyote Ghost and his band of liberated genetically altered breeds have made a name for themselves as one of the top rescue teams available. When Del-Rey gets word that someone from a lab in Russia wants to speak with him, he suspects a trap but allows himself to meet his contact. When Anya Kobrin levels her blue-eyed gaze on him and requests that he rescue five Coyote breed females from a Genetics Council lab, Del-Rey agrees, knowing without a doubt that he will end up betraying her. Throughout the next six years Del-Rey and his men, along with Anya, plot and plan the perilous rescue of the only known female coyotes. At the culmination of the rescue, what Del-Rey believed would happen comes to pass - with two minor twists. Not only did he deceive Anya, but he also kidnapped and kissed her, with disastrous results.

Anya will never trust Del-Rey again. While his name means, "of the King", he is anything but royal. Trusting him with the lives of her friends, Anya never once thought she would be taken against her will. Nor did she ever begin to imagine that a forceful kiss would cause such a disruption of her body as well as her heart. Wanting no part of mating heat or the mating, Anya fights Del-Ray's claim every step of the way. When Del-Rey leaves Anya to become an Enforcer, she finds out exactly how hard it is to run the Coyote base as Del-Rey's Coya. Months later, Del-Rey is back and ready to assume his status as Alpha of the Coyote base. Del-Rey knows Anya is his mate, but he refuses to go through with the formal ceremony claiming her as such. In his mind, he is keeping her safe -- in the minds of his men, she is no longer his mate and therefore no longer the Coya. They could not be more wrong.

Forgiveness and acceptance is the theme in this enigmatic and highly anticipated Breeds' installment. Readers first met Anya and Del-Rey very briefly in Lora Leigh's Ellora's Cave release, Aiden's Charity. At the time, Del-Rey was not sure what was wrong with Anya and readers didn't get to see what happened to her prior to their arrival in the caves that eventually become the Coyote base. COYOTE'S MATE gives the back story of Del-Rey and Anya which I found perfect. I needed to know that Anya and Del-Rey had not been strangers.

Speaking of Del-Rey - this was one stubborn coyote. Black eyes and blond hair. Strong build. Loyal. All of these traits describe Del-Rey. But, enamored and enthralled by his mate are also traits that we see of this Coyote Alpha. Unable to tolerate his Coya being in danger, Del-Rey does the only thing he can to keep her safe - he denies her place as his Coya. He never anticipates the repercussions of such a decision. Coming to his senses quickly, Del-Rey vows to never put her in danger again.

Breathing a happy and totally sappy sigh at the magical ending to COYOTE'S MATE, I didn't want the book to be over. Every time I read a Lora Leigh release I hate for the story to end. COYOTE'S MATE was no different. With passionate love scenes packing enough heat to keep me warm until summer, COYOTE'S MATE is compelling and addictive. I highly recommend this fantastic installment - the Queen of Breeds has done it again!

COYOTE'S MATE releases on February 3, 2009 from Berkley Sensation. Don't miss it!

To date, I can say that all of her books that I have read I have loved...I can not say that for Sherrilynn Kenyon and a few other authors because I swore Sherrilynn Kenyon couldn't write a horrible book but the one where Nick kills himself...it was just aweful. But back to lora leigh...her books leave you wanting the next new book and you go out and buy all the ones before the one you read just to catch up. Plus she writes Erotica...yaaahhh!!!!

Coyote's Mate topped anything I have ever read from Lora Leigh and I hav read everyhting she has published - even all the ellora's cave stuff before they were printing her books. This book is a continuatioin in the breed series but the first full length Coyote Breed novel she has produced. There is all of the ususal heat and spice that make up Lora Leigh's books but in this one there is also soo much more emotion and depth than usual. I LOVED IT!! I can't recommend it highly enough.

This story is a fantastic addition to a paranormal romance series which is quickly becoming my favorite. I quickly devoured this book in one day and can't wait for the next one.

Each of her books in this series not only highlights a new couple and their romance, but also gives the reader more information about the special abilities of each different kind of breed (i.e., feline, coyote, tiger, lion, etc.). As a reader, I was delighted by the genesis of the new coyote breed capabilities and by the newly, developing coyote breed community.

I eagerly anticipate future coyote breed stories.

I raced to the bookstore to get my copy of her latest book and was not disappointed. Recently many of my fave authors have fallen off the mark (Kresley Cole and Lori Foster) but I am glad that Lora Leigh has managed to keep writing such wonderful stories.

However, I had to agree with another reviewer, I really wanted Del Rey to suffer a little more for what he put Anya through. The book was so engrossing, I literally wanted someone to kick his a** for what he made her suffer. But, as I have noted in many of Lora Leigh's novels, she does not really make her Alpha heroes grovel for forgiveness. Though he sort of made up for it with his beautiful speech at the ceremony. All in all, I really liked this book. I can't wait for Maverick.

Firstly, I enjoy reading so far the entire Breed series. I have no plans on stoping. But, Coyote's Mate was just okay. There was too much arguing, bickering, and miss trust between the two characters. I think both of them humiliated each other equally in front of the breed community. This was not Lora Leigh best.....It was okay, but, where was the love!

Well, I am a dedicated fan so I picked up this book the day it dropped and rushed home to read it. Her stories are usually short on plot but packed with enough sex and erotic dialogue to soak in. This book did this and so much more. Complex plot, I laughed, I cried and yes I was moved. A good story and it got me horny, what more could you ask for!

I have read most of the breeds books (not all yet) and this one is my favorite so far. I loved learning about the Coyotes, and love the relationship between Anya and Del-Rey! This one will make you laugh, cry, get mad (and yes get hot and bothered!) Del-Rey & Anya are a smokin' hot couple - don't miss this one!!

I just read this book though it was out of order with the breed series. But I think LL should write more about the coyotes, then the wolf and feline breeds.I would like to know more about the coyote breed history and their genetics.Overall this was a great read and Delgado and Ayna's story was sexy and scorching.LL give us more on the coyote breeds.

I gave this only a three because, while the story was good, I think she's overdoing it - majorly - with all the snarling, growling, howling, and lip-curling-teeth-baring! The Breeds (and sometimes his/her mate after being affected by the hormone) in the recent stories never SAY anything. I get that they're Breeds, but come on...enough already. I had to force myself to finish this one despite liking the story, and I was relunctant to buy anything else by LL. I'm glad I did because Maverick was awesome, but I'll skim the next Breed in the bookstore before I buy it.

First Breeds book I've ever read. Usually I love Lora Leigh, but I didn't love this one. The story was just boring to me, partly because I didn't read the other ones in the series, and it might have made more sense to me if I had. The one thing I didn't like about Del-Ray and Anya's relationship was that spanking thing, but besides that, I thought their scenes were really hot and steamy.

This was the first book I read of the series and I thought it was great. First, I didn't know there was a series until the end of the book. It was so good I had to buy the rest of her books. Now I'm looking for a writer that is just a comparable with Lora Leigh. Does any one have any suggestions? I think her writing is romantic action packed and full of erotic sex. Keep going Lora.
If you like Lora's writings then you would enjoy Maya Banks "Colter's Woman"

For some reason I keep being drawn back to this book. I haven't finished reading the series, but to date this is still my favorite Breeds book. I seriously want to slap DelRay upside his head and hug him at the same time.

It took several tries to get going with this book. Most of her couples are so entertaining you just do not want the story to end. Not the case with this couple. Both were extremely annoying, which made for a difficult read. Simply not Ms. Leigh's best effort by far.

Wow, this was an amazingly bad book. The fact that it was even published astonishes me. I'm an avid fan of fantasy fiction and looooove shape-shifter, were, vamp stories mixed with romance. This book followed all the genre formulas to the point of nearly putting me to sleep. In fact, the book lay unfinished (I struggled through all but the last chapter) for weeks on my floor until I finally tossed it. It was such a bad read that I didn't want anyone else to suffer through it. Typical stubborn heroine "I can take care of myself!", strong, manly hero, star crossed lovers, blah, blah, blah. The romance was obvious and overtly sexual (not always a bad thing, but where was the love?), without suspense or anticipation. The sexual dialogue was overused and the relationship of the two main characters was so boring, I couldn't have cared less whether they got together in the end or not. In fact, I didn't even like them. They were one dimensional and predictable, much like the entire storyline.

I have read all of the books in this series and this one was a real disappointment. It didn't develop the relationship between the main characters. It was disjointed and hard to follow. After I finished reading it, I reread "Elizabeth's Wolf" and really enjoyed it again. I have no problem with the Alpha male or the erotic scenes but the story really held together. I wonder if the author was rushed to finish "Coyote's Mate" and therefore the story suffered.

I would have to say that I really really loved this book compared to the others in the series. I fell in love with Del Raye and the story line... It has been a while since I picked up a book that I couldn't put down and this is one of them. I had to make myself put it down and go to bed because it was just that good.

I absolutely LOVE Lora Leigh's Breed series. Each new release gets better and better. Since I'm currently overseas, it is difficult to purchase certain authors and I made sure that my recent guest brought this title along with her! It is amazing that with each book, the development of Breeds gets more detailed and kind of makes you wish you were involved. Coyote's Mate is definitely a story that will touch your heart!

She has waited patiently for years for the right moment to rescue her Coyote Breed incarcerated in her father's Russian lab. Now after six anxious years fearing she will be caught for her seditious activity, Del-Rey "the Coyote Ghost" Delgado informs Anya Koran the time to set their final rescue plan in motion has arrived. She asks him one favor; not to kill her dad when they liberate the female specimens; he agrees.

During the raid, Del-Rey shoots and kills Anaya's father; he escorts her and the other Coyote Breed to the Sanctuary compound. While Anya remains irate with him for killing her father, mating heat assaults both of them. However, as his soulmate rejects him though her body betrays her by craving his touch; a traitor within the compound places everyone especially the newcomers in danger.

The latest Lora Leigh's homage to the X-Men (see DAWN'S AWAKENING, MEGAN'S MARK and HARMONY'S WAY, etc.) stars a great lead pairing who appear destined to remain apart in spite of mating heat uniting them. Anya cannot forgive Del-Rey for killing her father though she knows his other choice was a failed mission with many of the rescued dead and the rest imprisoned. Once again the bioengineered breeds seem genuine and the romance between the Alpha and his Coya enjoyable to follow. Although the betrayal seems somewhat similar in tone to MERCURY'S WAR, fans of the saga will enjoy the latest science fiction romantic suspense as the hatred and prejudice the Breed encounter would make Magneto believe humans love him and his mutants.

I loved this Lora Leigh book! Sexy, suspenseful--couldn't put it down. Anya was a heroine with such a rough past. I really felt for her. The hero was strong, a good alpha. Can't wait to read more Breeds!

If you like the other Breed books you will like this one. I only gave it a 4 stars out of 5 because I always take issue with the over dominant roles of the male Breeds. I know going into every book that this is the way of the Breeds, but I still can't stop myself from slightly hating it.

As with all of Lora Leighs books I was captured from the beginning. This book was the reason I stayed up all night and even forgot to eat breakfast. There were turns I didn't see coming and I was pleasantly surprised about. She knows how to tell a story and make you a part of it. Her characters are amazing. Anya and DelRay were so easy to love and root for. While being angry with his alpha ways you still culdnt help but love him. And while you know she had every right to be angry you still got mad cause she was treating him bad. I have read this book several times just I have read all her books several times. You just can't help it.
