The story is not long but it is the beginning of a very good series for the two writers. The book is about an earth girl named Calista that lives on a spaceship that crashes on an alien planet. She saves some of her crew, finds a new home for tge humans, and finds love with Landon

New author for me but I'll definitely keep reading her (their) work!
Good plot, suspense, character definition and romance. The story flows well and is easy to read and understand. The 'alien(s)' aren't your typical humanoid variety. These have horns, tails, scales and wings but are still hot alpha males that protect their mate.

Looking forward to reading more of this series!

She is supposed to be a biologist but she consistently does dumb things and repeats truly stupid errors. Her learning curve is a flatline. It makes her unlikeable which in turn makes it hard to relate to her as the main character. By the 4th time she screamed which calls up sand worms taken straight out of DUNE even though she literally had just watched a video illustrating this she babbles and trips. I couldn't even keep reading. She is on a very harsh desert planet yet indulges herself in fits of tears. She runs away from water and into the harsh desert . . .wait for it, yes she is sobbing. Why? Because the guy she has already had sex with has a big penis. About 10 minutes later she does him anyway, big penis ok now, and tons of fun. I am normally very forgiving of this style because I understand and accept it for what it is, but this ersatz heroine just really hits me the wrong way. If you are good with the woman who trips and twists her ankle, this book is for you.

"<strong>The Heroine's Brain Is Lost In Space</strong>

"She has no sense! No protection, no weapons, not strong enough to lift a baoba limb on her own and she runs off blindly. Stupid and dangerous." These words by Ladon describe Calista perfectly.
She starts out the book seeming pretty intelligent. She's a biochemist who wears glasses. But once she crashes on the planet her glasses disappear (with no mention of them or indication can has any decrease in vision)and her intelligence disappears as well. The rest of the book she shows a complete lack of common sense. She alternates between running into danger(not because she is bold or wants to face it head on but just because she has no sense), screaming and bawling. Each time she sees something scary she screams to alert it to her presence and location. She also likes to scream and distract Ladon when he his fighting for his and her lives.
The constant sobbing is especially foolish on a planet where she nearly died from heat exhaustion in like 30 minutes. She should try to conserve the water and salt. And she is supposed to be smart. She is so pathetic that useless would be an upgrade.
If you like helpless shrinking violet heroines this is the book for you. She actually fights back against the space pirates before the crash. But as soon as she hits the planet any useful characteristics she had evaporate.
The book was ok despite brainless blondie but it wasn't enough to draw me into the series. I might read more later. The heroines can't all be that bad can they?
On an erotic note the book also falls short. The Dragon dudes have 2 cocks. But they don't use them at the same time. No double penetration like you might expect. They cum from one then pull that one out and the other one pops up and they go again. What is the point of having two if you only use one at a time? Many books have species that have rapid recovery or increased stamina which more logically provides the same result.

The idea of this book is good. The issue is t g at the beginning is too long and the book ends abruptly. It's fine if this is a series. But, my previous experience with Juno Wells leaves me to believe that any future book won't pick up at this ending.

Suggestion just hop to the middle understanding the you can come up with your own ending since you won't get one here.

I feel like this story was stolen from Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians. With some differences of course. Instead of cold, it's hot, instead of an animal, it's a plant that changes you permanently to live on the planet. But the story was basically the same. Humans forced to crash onto a planet, one human sent to explore, native stole human to save them, can't communicate but starts relationship anyway. Human convinces native to save other humans. Old advanced technology on planet downloads language directly into the brain. Organism required to survive planet but makes you a permanent resident. Maybe the authors can read Ruby's mind? The writing is decent, but the story felt unoriginal.

I should’ve read J. Martin’s review before downloading.

The female lead, Calista, is too annoying for me to bear. I finished half of the book, but because increasingly aggravated with Calista’s stupidity- like constantly screaming for no reason when her alien savior is fighting an alien that would eat them both, or touching unfamiliar plants on an planet that she knows nothing about. She’s supposed to be a botanist, and has to be the stupidest botanist alive to fondle strange plants with her bare hands. But the screaming and uncontrollable crying and spastic “I gotta save my friends” thoughts every few paragraphs - even though she has ZERO skills that would make her useful to them - were too much. And WHO tromps around a PROVEN hostile environment, talking incessantly and gasping at everything they see after the native has told her repeatedly to be quiet?! A person who is too stupid to live, that’s who.

Interesting world building and politics as usual with humans. This is a good story that has potential to go a long ways with all the other characters in it. I bought this book because I like dragon stories, I found out that dragons are different, as different as the planet they are on! This was really a good book! Romance, adventure and bad guys.

That is the moral of this story. I honestly cannot believe there are so many 4 and 5 star reviews. The entire story was made up of plots from other alien romances. But this one stood out for me because I was actually hoping all the humans would be eaten. The “heroine” Calista pretty much did every thing she could to be the victim. Running off into danger requiring rescue, crying (constantly), won’t shut up in dangerous situations, refusing to run when told to causing the alien Ladon to get hurt, and of course having sex with the unknown dragon guy straight away. She doesn’t stick up for herself or Ladon. She’s weak with zero redeeming qualities, but that’s ok because she’s nice...
The other humans are about the worst group I’ve seen. Do they thank Ladon and Calista for their rescue? Nope. Do they demand outrageous things? Yup. Can they follow simple instructions? No again.
As for the alien dragon guy, Ladon, he’s got two peens, a tail, ridges, and scales. Boring smexy times with only one peen being used at a time. Otherwise he’s very human like...
Throw in the plant that adapts your body to the extreme temperatures (ice planet barbarians anyone?) and that’s the whole book. I only finished it so I could leave a complete review. It was at least well edited. Overall I recommend NOT reading this book.

The plot is a good one even if it reminds me of another series just hot and not icy. However that’s where the good ends since this story goes down hill quickly. The heroine is a weeping silly spineless mess so you really never feel any real connection to her. Guy saves her and has treated her well he shows some interest a lady nut job runs off screaming in a unfamiliar alien world only to be captured and require saving from the very alien that saved her before. They have sexual contact was too quickly and at a time when you’d least expect them to since you know “danger” and her suffering from heat exhaustion. Also it’s like the author wants you to like Calista so much that she makes the other characters unnecessarily unlikeable like Lana and Rosalind. I don’t like wimpy female leads so Calista ruins what could have been a good book.

I am part of Miranda Martin's newsletter and when I found out that I was able to review this book in exchange for an honest review I was all over it!

Let's jump right into this review. Calista, is someone who I don't know how to feel about. She has some great characteristics when it comes to being a heroine but then she has some of the worst as well. The lack of self-confidence and the constant doubt drove me batshit crazy. All I wanted was for her to understand that Ladon just wanted to be with her and just wanted to protect her. It seems that everything he did freaked her out and she turned into this timid person and it drove me nuts.

When we first meet her in the opening scene I did not get that vibe from her. Yes, we did see that she is a shy, non confrontational, selfless person. That does not change throughout the entire book however the fact that she wanted to help the survivors and in a way to chose them over Ladon really pissed me off. She was so consumed with helping others that she did not take into consideration that maybe Ladon, who has been living in seclusion for decades, would not be okay with a party living in his personal space.

Calista also did some foolishness like running off and almost getting killed multiple times. She turned into a different person when she got around the survivors and I just felt bad for Ladon because he had no idea what he did in order for her to treat him as though she didn't care.

Now let's get to the person whom I thought was everything, Ladon. He is everything that a hero should be. He is sweet, protective, understanding, and just alpha male. I do not know all of his backstory but I do know that for someone who has been in isolation for decades he is not barbaric or crude. He actually gave Calista time to get to know him and to adjust to him being around. Yes in the beginning of the book he was little bit suspect but he grew on me really fast.

By listening to this book I can already tell that there are a couple of characters that I know that will be suspect characters and later books. Unlike Calista, I would be okay with the planet killing off a couple of these characters. I don't understand how they are still living when they seem useless. The way the story ended was kind of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to move on to Dragon's Mate.

I have to admit that the narrators did a wonderful job as well. This is the first time that I have listened to both narrator's and they did not disappoint. Tristan James did a wonderful job narrating Ladon. He was committed and I absolutely loved the voice that he chose for him. He had an accent but yet it wasn't forced. Jillian Macie did a wonderful job as well and I am so glad that they will be narrating the second book in the series.

I will protect her, no one and nothing may have her. Note to self, next time don't be scared of the ...? So he's hung like a… dragon. So what? HOLY ALIEN DRAGON MAN! WOW! What a DRAGONTACULAR story!! I start reading and next thing I know I'm at the end!! I honestly can't believe just how FAN-ALIEN-TASTIC this story is! *in my best Yoda voice* This is so written cleverly, it is! The humor, the random Star Wars & Star Trek quotes & references had me splitting a gut! And the communication between Ladon & Clarissa – ABSO-FUNNY-LUTELY HILARIOUS!! I don't even know how to begin to explain just what a phenomenal job they did with Ladon, seeing, feeling, exploring a human for the first time! I had tears I was laughing so hard when he first rescues her!! PRICELESS! ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!! This truly is one captivating & WINGTASTIC story! I honestly can't find the words in any language to explain just how much I love, Love, LOVE this story!! The writing is awesome! The descriptive storytelling has me seeing everything. The entire story concept is beyond original! The World building is very well thought out & developed, as are the characters & "aliens/monsters". I love that it is told in first person! Miranda & Juno did an amazing job writing it so that it’s not only easy to follow, but it gets you in both Ladon and Calista's heads, seeing everything through their eyes, feeling, hearing, connecting in a very personal way that has you experiencing everything through, with and as them!! I thoroughly & immensely enjoyed every little bit of this story and cannot wait for more!! This is one ABSO-ALIEN-LUTELY SPACENOMENAL debut book for the writing duo of Miranda & Juno!! While waiting impatiently for more books by them, I will be catching up on the other books that Juno has already released! This truly is one helluva unique, creative, well written, amazing, deeply enriched & incredible SCI-FI TAIL kind of story that had me captured from the start, howling with laughter, moaning with .. well, just moaning, and I truly did not want this to ever end! I am not finished exploring Lad.. I mean the city & all of his, errr ITS wonders! Good thing there are more books to come from these tremendously talented authors! I have only 2 questions - is it possible for them to write enough books to satisfy my reading urges and are there any other sexy Zmaj warriors who are looking for their own precious treasure? One named Cherri, by chance? :) “My greatest treasure, you have no patience.” Well maybe Ladon meant that for Clarissa, but it fits perfectly for me too! I have no patience when it comes to waiting for more books in this series!! Honestly! I am 110% ADDICTED!! Just as if I consumed the epis as well!

This story was OK. I found some parts very similar to Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians, but different. The pop culture references became annoying considering this has to be a significant amount of time in the future. Constantly referring to Star Wars, Star Trek, the Rock, and the Princess Bride? The H was a good character, but the h was needed a stronger voice she was weak, and needed everyone to speak for her. I hope her character improves in the next book.

Just finished reading from start to finish, was just enjoying such a new take on this type of story that I couldn't stop until I was finished and then I just had to check and make sure there were more to follow ... how exciting that there are at least 3 more to read in the series so far!

As much as I enjoyed the story though, there were a couple of grammatical errors, not enough information provided on either protagonists' side, along with slight timing and character inconsistencies. That is why I didn't rate it a full 5 stars, but I would consider it a 4 1/2 stars ... loved this book despite the issues, but hopefully things like these are addressed going forward. Such as the time difference to travel between the destroyed city and the ship crash site. Then there is Calista's behavior and how she interacts with other characters. Sometimes her interactions just weren't logical; she would be shy, not stand up to anyone, or do almost anything to avoid a confrontation, while acting the exact opposite with others. There were also a couple of opportunities for the authors to go into more detail about the new planet of Tajss, what happened to make the ship and all of its inhabitants exbark on a five generation voyage to another planet (where are they going to by the way and how do they know it takes 5 generations ...), how Calista was raised on a ship, where are her parents / other relatives (none mentioned but there had to be others as they are in an enclosed environment and this is the 3rd generation), why is she living with other roommates vs family if space is such a premium, and I could go on. Maybe some of this will be explained as we go forward in others' storylines or maybe a prologue will be written as a companion piece. Then there are some other things that could have been expanded for Ladon, especially about the city, why other males are territorial versus banding together to make it easier to survive, who are the other races they went to war with, how did he survive, the average life expectancy for his species, etc. Which would have helped make the characters and the world even more realistic for me.

Normally I go through and provide an expanded description / background, but I just don't want to take a chance on providing a spoiler any more than I have with my comments; this book is good enough that you need to discover it for yourself.

Warnings on potential issues that may be sensitive for some. I enjoyed the intimate scenes and details, but they are quite graphic (whew, going to occupy a few of my fantasies for a while ... :), and happen several times and may not be for everyone. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is a 9, which is one of the highest ratings I have given a book for intimacy / graphic details. There is some language that could be considered offensive, but it is minimal. There is also some violence described when the ship is attacked by space pirates, I liked the actions and emotions described as it provided depth to the characters, but it could be difficult for some.

I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

I almost didn't read this just because of the title. This is actually a lot more creative and insightful than I expected. This isn't an action-packed, edge of your seat book, nor is it a fluff book without a storyline. This story is very carefully plotted with a great care for detail and it's not rushed. It's pure survival.

I really appreciate the interactions of not only the characters, but that of the world around them. Landon and Calista are an odd pair indeed. Neither speaks the same language but they make it a point to teach and to learn from one another as their relationship grows. I was surprised at the genuine connection they're building and that none of it seemed contrived. They really support one another and take things in stride while navigating the many obstacles before them.

The world itself is extremely interactive. It's an inhospitable planet where humans are not equipped to survive the elements, let alone the creatures that dwell there. The setting is extremely creative-everything from a variety of enormous, vicious man eating animals to living plants, the whole planet is alive and primed to kill. Yes, we've seen this theme a thousand times before, but I really enjoyed the authors' take on this world in general. It was pretty refreshing.

I do wish that Landon and Calsita's story would have continued a bit more to see them fully settled in their new lives. Hopefully they'll make an appearance in the next one to be integrated into the continuing story of their new civilization.

The humans in this book are born, raised, and will eventually die all on the same ship. It's their destiny. That is until their ship is attacked by pirates and they crash land on a planet equivalent to Vulcan. Surrounded by sand and a heat that will slowly kill them all they are forced to evaluate their surroundings and search for anything that would help them survive.

Calista is a botanist, who's used to working in a lab, and now she's forced into field work. A job that she is unable to do because of the planet's conditions. They'll leave her on the edge of death, but unknown to her she has a guardian angel - or in this case a guardian dragon - who will do anything to keep her alive and healthy.

Ladon is one of the few left of his kind; he's also the last one left in his city. Alone for so long he'd come to the conclusion that he'd always be that way, but one look at the female who'd crashed down from the sky left him reconsidering his alone status. He wanted her. He wanted to treasure her.

"She touches me and a shudder rips through my spine as my desire flames into a roaring sun. I open my eyes and meet hers. Beautiful, shiny, and I fall into them losing myself."

Unable to communicate in each other's languages Calista and Ladon come up with alternative ways to do so. Ways that bring them closer together.

Dragon's Baby drops you smack dab in the middle of a new and interesting world that will put an interesting spin on human/dragon relations. The planet and all its inhabitants are described in ways that will let you easily see them in your mind, especially if you get Star Wars, Star Trek, and an occasional Dr. Who reference. Which I have to admit, I absolutely loved the references. They almost always made me laugh.

"We crashed on Tatooine," I groan.
"It's Vulcan," Amara says.
"Is not," I grouse. "Sand, f***ing sand everywhere. That's Tatooine."
"It's red and there's mountains, that's Vulcan," Amara replies.
"Fine," I fold to the Star Trek lover. "Get Scotty to beam me up so Bones can do something about this pain in my head."

My Favorite Moment: I love the way Ladon is with Calista. At every turn he cherishes her and treats her like a treasure he never wants to let go of.

"I'm not broken," I say.
"No, not broken, perfect. You are perfect."

On a generations-long space flight, Earthlings searching for a new planet home, fall prey to a disastrous attack by space pirates which causes their crash on a fortunately nearby desert planet. Many of the passengers are saved despite the crash, although the environment of the planet is really not conducive to the continued health of the humans. Calista, one of the scientists (a biologist) from the 'space ark' , is discovered by a resident of the planet, Ladon, who finds her unconscious from heat stroke. He protects her, teaches her about the natural dangers of the planet and some of their history and introduces a biological aid which helps her acclimate to the extreme heat. Her background helps her adapt to their physical differences (he has wings and a tail--both help him maneuver across the sand). Gradually she becomes one of his 'treasures' and they form a loving relationship. Eventually they meet up with some of the other crash survivors and it's at this point that I begin to dislike Calista's tentativeness and cringing disavowal of her relationship with Ladon (even though it would probably happen just that way because of human nature). She doesn't treat him very well while amongst her fellow Earthers. I just wish our heroine was a better person then; thankfully she does learn. I really appreciate the writing skills of the Wells/Martin collaboration and how they seamlessly blend in the technology and sociological effects of the crash on the survivors, adding to the pace and tempo of the story. I very much enjoyed it. (Would love to know how leader Rosalind kept her dress so perfect, and what the other males of Ladon's people were like; maybe in a sequel?) Great new offering from Juno Wells and Miranda Martin. These two authors are the ultimate writing duo. I really love how they departed from the usual, of everything happening on Earth. This is not just a story that is H&H meet, they have insta love then have sex and an HEA. This tale actually has a really good story interwoven with everything one wants in a erotic romantic story.
A generational ship is attacked by space pirates and they crash land on a inhospitable planet. The survivors must get themselves together and find a way to survive. Callista being a biologist is tasked with finding plant life that they can use. I’m not going to go into more detail of the story suffice it to say it’s a very enjoyable story with a few surprises.
I thought that the authors really hit on the mark that yes this is an alien who doesn’t know our biology and how the two learn about each other. In other stories I have really had to suspend my disbelief that the “Alien” knew exactly what to do with a human female. Bravo to the authors for tackling that issue, made the story so much more believable. Also I loved the references to pop culture. Being a Trekkie I loved the nod to Star Trek.
The only negatives I have to say about the story was the amount of typos. Really needed to be checked I think they used auto check and the program put in the wrong word in places. Also the cover does not match the description of the alien in the book.
I received an ARC for my honest unbiased review.

This kind is strayed from the normal novel Wells co-authors and I have to say that I liked it. Calista and Ladon share a particular sweet romance that's a lot more tender than any other characters I've read from this author so far. Calista crash lands on a desolate and harsh sandy planet after her ship is attacked by space pirates. Ladon is a dragon warrior that has lived for decades on this planet and rescues Calista from a variety of dangers that inhabit this strange world. Their attraction is mutual and despite her never seen someone like him before and their initial problem of having a language barrier, she enters this relationship freely and willingly and takes on a lot of unknowns. Protecting each other was a big factor and strong point of this novel that made it a plus for me.

Although at first I was a bit skeptical about the book since I found some details similar to another series I follow, I decided to give it a shot, thankfully I did so.
The plot is different enough and engaging, the characters are likable, especially the hero, he's fierce, honorable sweet and dedicated, despite fervently desiring the heroine, he respects her reluctance (seriously, men in real life should get lessons with him).
The hero has 2 hearts, but...that it isn't the only thing he's got doubled. *ahem* LOL
This was good, so I'm currently reading the other books of the series (I'm on the third one) and let me tell you, the series improves significantly.

My first Miranda Martin book. I really liked it! Not your typical "Alien Dragon" plot. It was a refreshing approach to a genre that's been overly saturated. Ladin is one of only a few male dragons left of a devastated civilizations. He has survived alone in the remains of what once was a highly advanced city. Due to an attack by space pirates on the space craft (battle star galactica sized) that Callisto lives on crashes onto this planet that is not conducive to human life. Ladin rescues Calissta and then the remainder of the survivors. In amongst all this is danger, adversity, love, sex and human hatefulness. I am excited to read the next book. Enjoy

It started out very promising. I enjoyed the plot, getting to know the two characters, the strange life on the planet. Then they go back to the crashed group. That's when the book became hurried and silly. Spoiler alert....I truly don't think a group of women, on a hostile planet, dying slowly from heat exhaustion are going to become horny and give a flip about how hot the sex is with a dragon man. I mean, come on!

I have never read anything by Miranda Martin, but I can say that Juno Wells knows exactly what she is doing. Alien Dragon’s baby is a story based on m a space ship carrying what is left of the earth’s population while looking for a planet they can live on. The space ship is attacked by pirates and it crashed on an unknown planet. The heat is blistering and the sand is all over. Calissta sets out to hunt for possible food sources. Passing out fr0m the heat she is found by Ladon an inhabitant of the planet. He has decided that she is his most precious treasure and he is going to keep her. He is examining Calissta when she wakes up and he making her feel things. Ladon and Calissta’s journey is hard and dangerous. Follow them on their journey to survive and to save the few remaining humans. I was really impressed with the new intake on dragons for this book. Recommended for mature readers 18 years of age or older. You will not be disappointed.

So you crash land on an unknowing planet. You are supposed to be in Flight to an unknown new destination since Earth has been rendered incapable of life. After crash landing, on a mission to discover viable plant life Calista meets the alien hunk who has been alone since his planet the one that she is on was devasted by the inhabitants. Ladin a warrior is a dragon and found his treasure. Hence he saves her several times, helps her to accept life and HEA starts....maybe. I would read more of this series.

Very enjoyable start to a series with promise. The alien planet with its carnivorous giant worms and the life-giving but addictive plant, epis, is very reminiscent of Frank Herbert's Dune, with it's desert planet, sandworms, and spice, but the dragon-alien and the ruined city are neat twists that add originality and sexy romance to the story. The world-building is pretty good, and the set-up for long-term conflicts over who stays and who chooses to leave the planet should tie the rest of the series together in a fascinating story arc. SF and romance are two of my favorite reading genres, and Miranda Martin has brought them together superbly.

Enjoyable & interesting story - if you can ignore that its a hot, dry version of Ice Planet Barbarians. This first in the series introduces an interesting world and believable, intriguing characters. As I read through the first 3 of the series I became less enchanted but this first one I definitely enjoyed. The heroine wasn't too whiny or stupid; the hero was the quintessential warrior. The description of the city didn't paint as much imagery as I'd have liked - ditto their living quarters etc. The secondary characters were believable with the broad range of behaviors & attitudes you'd expect.

Thoroughly unoriginal retelling of several other alien planet series, no mysteries here. The writing is competent, except it's sometimes jerky. Near the end one of the females friends disappears, and the last chapter has no mention about it. Lots of nerdy dialog about Star Trek/Star Wars, what a yawn. I will probably read some of the serials, to see if it gets any better. Happily, these are KU and won't cost real $.

I like this book the most so far in the series. Each lady has their own personality, so it's nice that they aren't just carbon copies of each other. Decent quick read, well written scenes.

My only problem is I want to smack the ladies for endangering the guys! They never listen to the men putting themselves in danger over and over again. Which sure, later there are some ladies with skills that its okay, they should go, but they should still LISTEN. However the first ladies have no survival skills, not fighting skills, and put themselves in dangerous situations by never listening. Ugh.

This book was so good, amazingly good. Miranda Martin has captured my hear here just like Ruby Dixon has with her BARBARIANS. This Dragon is hot hot hot and I enjoyed everything that has happened here. Calista has found everything she believed she would never have in her sexy Dragon Ladon. He has found in Calista what he though he lost forever, a family.
All these new animals to remember is so much freaking fun. Again I am hooked and loving it and I already have book two waiting for me. YES GET THIS BOOK!

This is a good sci-fi alien romance, with a likeable couple and an interesting plot. It has lots of very steamy, yet romantic, sex with an alien -- so you should avoid it if you don't like that. The story is interesting, and I actually ended up liking the alien H more than the other humans in the story. He is just so honest and caring, even when the h's friends accuse him of being a monster. He still helps them as they try to survive on his planet, which they do not deserve -- but he does it out of love for her, since he knows they are important to her. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

It's like a cross between Last Hour of Gahn and Ice Planet Barbarians. Not very original but still, if you like those kinds of stories and try not to compare every little thing you should like this as well. I'm going to download the next book in the series, I want to find out how Jolie takes to being kidnapped and hope she doesn't put up too much fuss. Oh, and I hope she doesn't have as many TSTL moments as calista did because, damn, that girl didn't listen for crap and made so many stupid mistakes it's amazing both she and her dragon man survived with as few injuries as they did.

I don't usually read books with these kinds of titles, but I thought to take a chance. The actual science fiction is good, but the romance itself didn't have enough time to build up and felt too rushed. The female protagonist pretty much threw herself at the alien... I guess she was hit pretty hard on the head.

This was a fun read. A human ship was attacked by space parates and crashed on a very hot (two suns) planet. Our heroine is sent to look for plants the survivors can eat. She passes out from the heat and is saved by one of the planet's remaining members. They grow to be lovers and try to help the remaining humans. There are some battles, but the descriptions are not too gory. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

I enjoy reading anything by Juno Wells and often a writing partner. This book is no different, except for one little thing I will mention later. Humans crash land on an inhospitable planet for humans. One human, Calista, is rescued by an native to the planet, Landon. What ensures is a romantic adventure. It was great. Up until the last page. I thought the story was going to continue, but it just ended abruptly. Now if there's going to be a part two, that's just fine. Otherwise, it leaves me with lots of questions. I received a free copy for an honest review.

If you're like me, you will have realized you have read this story before. Sure the "aliens" look different, but the story concept is exactly the same. So much so, I had to stop reading and look at the author to make sure this wasn't another name the author published under. Very, very disappointing.

This is a stand alone book and is a great start to a new series. I liked the world building and the plot. The characters were likeable, but I could have used a little less crying from the heroine. I also enjoyed getting both points of view from the H & H. The story had some interesting twist and turns. Well worth reading.

Good storyline with adequate progression throughout story. The things I struggled with is the physical features of Ladon. I do feel that there needs to be better explanation for some parts, such as when they "become one" and who takes the epis or how they even survived to that point....

The most important question...will I read the next book in the series?

YES

I want more in this world! I've reads all three of these this week and really enjoyed them. The world building is good, and although I'm not usually a fan of split perspective stories, it really works for this series. The author does a good job of switching between the characters and describing the interactions from the two perspectives. I've really enjoyed all three of these stories, and hope she has plans for more!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this first book in the series and I'm planning on getting all the books! This is definitely an adult read . I found the characters in the story line to be very riveting and it held my attention to the very end. This book can be read as a standalone and has a happily ever after ending.

My first book reading from either one of these authors and I loved it. Story about a Callista who's ship crash landed on hot and dessert planet after being attacked by space pilots. While out scouting out the local plants and vegetation she's overcome by heat exhaustion and is rescued by Ladon a local warrior.

I would definitely read another one their books, can't wait for the 2nd one comes out soon. :D

I liked this book. It was similar and different to other books of this nature. I wish that it would not have ended so abruptly although I am glad of the sequels. I accidentally purchased the whole set and decided to keep them. Good choice on my part. I hope a book is written about General Rosalind.

I read this through KU. The idea for this plot is right up my alley. In many ways it is similar to Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series. But this author has a romantic aspect that is quite steamy. I love how the two mains have to try to understand each other while searching for survival. 5 stars.

I liked Calista and Ladon's story. Miranda is a great writer. However, I could not read without noticing the similarities with Ice Planet Barbarians, except that this planet is hot and we had dragon - man. But aside that, I enjoyed the story and I will read the whole series.

The characters come alive! Hey the resident jerk Gershwin was drawn out so well I wanted to bust him in the chops!
Wow! The shipwreck and the alien planet are really alive. There are creatures in the desert described that are not something from Earth or Dinosaurs. In fact the best visualization of the Zmedj would be a vicious Beetlejuice tunnel worm.
Great start to a series.

This is a sweet love story between a human and an Alien Dragon man. After crashing on this inhospitable planet, Calista is tasked with finding food, but collapses due to heat stroke. She is found by planet native, Ladon. Ladon is a mixture of man and dragon. Needless to say, this begins a relationship that has its challenges including not being able to communicate and species differences. However, the attraction is too much to resist. Now, the battle becomes trying to survive and keeping her fellow survivors alive.
This is a fun story to read. Some seriously steamy scenes and some nail-biting ones as well. I enjoyed it. My only complaint was the arruptness of the ending. I'm guessing their will be more books in this series, but I was surprised by the end of the book.

Alien type of sand dragon, different right?! That is what I thought too. Typical overall alien romance, ship crashes, no female aliens around, alien males lonely, alien male and female human fall in love. The normal story. Yet, it is written well with a unique storyline because of the different dangers on this planet, normal human response to change and so forth. Although, it is a typical concept, the author added her own flare to make it fun and unique. I am glad I found this book, and am looking forward to the next book.

After shy botanists, Calista's spaceship is attacked by space pirates they crash land on a desolate planet that she compare's to Tatooine. When she goes exploring and succumbs to the elements. She is saved by Ladon, a dragon humanoid. That was in just the first 4 or 5 chapters. The story only gets better.

I loved how the authors described everything and comparing the planet to things from Star Wars and Star Trek made it more complete in my mind. I just absolutely loved it.
