Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists includes sections on Dolores Umbridge, the Ministers for Magic, Azkaban, Horace Slughorn, potions (and Polyjuice Potion specifically), cauldrons, Quirinus Quirrel, and Peeves the Poltergeist.

This book is less stories and more a brain dump from JK Rowling. She’s always said she wrote a lot of backstory for various characters and came up with more information about things than she used in the original seven books. This little book was her chance to provide readers with some of that information as well as her own thoughts on some of the topics. I very highly recommend it Harry Potter fans who just can’t get enough of the wizarding world.

Snooze. I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter books, but this does not add anything to the world of Harry Potter. About half the book is a history of each Minister of Magic, with a paragraph describing them. Most of them have nothing to do with the other stories, and don't add any insight. The rest of the book is character descriptions of a few minor characters which don't really add anything that you could not get from reading the regular books. Maybe worth 50 cents, but not $3.

Power and politics in the wizarding world s far more interesting than anything you can scare up about Trump or Clinton. Even the nastiest of the characters in this wonderful little book is an angel compared to either of those two jackwagons! Take a break from the madness and enjoy some Potterverse back story as well as J K Rowling's thoughts on writing the novels. No potions necessary, but sipping on your favorite drink while reading couldn't hurt. Probably.

The book was great, although almost everything in this book is also on Pottermore. I would get this book if you don't like searching for things, but I would just look for it on Pottermore if you don't like spending money. If your looking for it on Pottermore, just search the stuff in this book, and then click on the ones by J.K. Rowling.

I have read the Harry Potter series in its entirety 7 times. We play the Harry Potter Trivia game nightly. I thought this would be a nice way to pick up other fun stories or bits of information. It was a waste of money and very boring. The supposed short stories were pseudo-historical text (not even stories) and seemed to hold together only vaguely. I read the whole thing because I kept hoping that something would appear on a page that made it new or intriguing. Nothing did. Don't waste your time or money. Let you own imagination fill in any gaps you have in the Potter environment.
