I really enjoyed this book. I have read Lexi Blake and Shayla Blacks collaboration novels but this is the first novel of Mrs. Blake's that I have read. It will not be my last for sure. Even though I currently have 400 ebooks on my kindle to read I will be adding book 2 of this series to the front of the pile. I cannot wait to read more about Adam and Jake. I loved that Grace was a older, mature woman. She wasn't model thin and that was refreshing. Sean was easy to love, I fell for him from the first moment. Grace never stood a chance, I mean what women could refuse him as a Dom!

A passion filled erotic thriller. As a reader I was totally able to immerse myself into the characters. Steamy love scenes that leaving you wanting for more. Really hoping this author continues this series of books and develops the rest of the characters as well as she did with this book. Can't wait to read Big Tag's story something tells me it is going to be hot!!

It's a tricky thing, portraying a balance between a dominant male as an alpha male who knows what he wants, or an overbearing sack taking advantage of a woman based on his exclusive wants. This book was doing alright until the night the protagonist seduces the female lead, and then the next day allows his friends to bug her house so they can listen in to all their future assignations.

He tells her he only wants D/s in the bedroom, but then shows up at her workplace to demand she screw him over her boss' desk. She's meanwhile the sole breadwinner in her family, putting two boys through college, and if her boss had walked in and fired her...well, I suppose he didn't care about that. It was less important than collaring her the second day of their official relationship, no negotiation, no explanation.

It's made very clear she's new to the scene, and yet he lays claim to her without full disclosure, and she eats it up because she doesn't know any better...and he's just sooooo hawwwt, and she can't do any better, anyway, because she's 40 and a little plump.

The fact is, dabbling in BDSM can have serious and immediate consequences for the unwary, and I tend to take it seriously. So, sorry, this one lost me. Cherise Sinclair did a better job of realism with her series.

I seriously don't understand all the 4 and 5 stars! What a confessing mess! Right from page 1 it's bogged down with unnecessary details and too many characters all within the first chapter. Couldn't and don't want to finish this book, honestly I didn't get far into it and that alone grates on me. Usually with the writing I can get through but I was so turned off by the start I wasn't willing to give my time (which is very valuable to me) to something not worth it. Sorry Ms Blake for this harsh review but it's my opinion, lucky for you everyone else seems to enjoy it and good luck to you.

I was looking for a good D/S series to start and I have to stay this did not disappoint, the story was believable and you could really get into the picture the author created. I would have given this 5 stars but there were some areas that it looks like the content was cut and it didn't flow as well as the rest of the book.
I would fully recommend this. I just downloaded all then and will post reviews as I read them.

I was excited to start the Masters and Mercenaries series as I heard this series is like Cherise Sinclair's Masters Of The Shadowlands series and Shayla Black's Wicked Lovers Series. So if loved those series then would like this series. No for me The Dom Who Loved Me the first in the Masters and Mercenaries is nothing like Masters Of Shadowlands or Wicked Lovers Series. The only thing in common with both series is the BDSM and D/s theme. The hero Sean and writing style does not even come close to both series.

The novel started out good and was enjoying getting to know all the characters was even crushing on Sean. Right away he had an alpha male attitude and was not over the top. I actually enjoyed up until after the sexy pool scene that was hot and showed readers how he can lose his control when it comes to Grace. The Novel for me really started going down hill when Sean and Grace started their D/s fling. As individual characters I loved them. Grace character is caring and put others first before her own needs. She at times can be insincere as she is 40 and Sean is a hunk who is 8 years younger than her. Her character felt real as I can see where some of her insincerities would be when coming to him being interested in her. I loved that Sean was possessive and jealous when it came to Grace. And at times did love his dirty talking mouth. But once there relationship started I felt disconnected with them. I love my D/s and BDSM reads but I need to feel that there is more than just harsh commands as "do this" and "do that". I needed with Sean to be more caressing and caring to Grace during their intimate scenes. That being this I felt the sex scenes were not scorcher-panty-changer scenes. To me they came off more steamy-cold-shower needed. The huge turn off for me was the insta love, at that moment was about ready to call it quits. They slept together twice and already both said I Love You to each other. There was no build up to them falling in love with each other.

Quite a few times was ready to call this novel quits. The only reason I stuck it out, I was curious to see when and how she was going to react about him being undercover. And what was going on with the plot about his team being undercover. I enjoyed the outcome of when she found out and her actions. So was hoping the novel would get better from there but no it actually got worse.

Love the idea of a BDSM theme mixed with a suspenseful plot. For me the best parts were with the secondary characters and the actual suspenseful plot. Another reason I kept reading was for the secondary characters as I enjoyed them all. They all have their own voice and loved reading when any of the team were together. Adam and Jake were a hoot together while being under cover. Loved the brotherly love between Sean and his brother Ian. Loved there talks and banter. Any scene with Sean, Liam or Adam were very good. I did enjoy that the novel was unpredictable. Rating 2 stars- OK instead of 3 stars- Liked it because I really had a hard time connecting with Sean and Grace as a D/s couple. Even though I loved the suspenseful plot and secondary characters I really did not like how the writing was for the D/s and BDSM theme and a few times ready to call it quits on this book.

The epilogue I was not a fan of, Grace and Sean do have a HEA. It was ok as it does set up for the next novel who I believe will be Adam and Jake story. Enjoyed their characters but not sure at this moment if I will continue the series or try any other novels. I think if I could of at times even connected with Grace and Sean as couple I would most likely try book 2 in this series.

I purchased this book because the author, Lexi Blake, was coauthor with Shayla Black on some novels I had read. That was a mistake. The Shayla Black Wicked Lovers novels I enjoyed. The books I read coauthored with Lexi Blake, Masters of Menage, were not as good. Even so, I gave BLake a chance. I won't be reading any more by this author.

I read this and one other book by her, both purchased at the same time. That was also a mistake. When you try a new author, only buy one book not two. I found both novels to be quite similar. You have a she and a he at the beginning falling immediately into lust with each other and engaging in sexual fantasies and eventually live sex. That's it. There is no real plot and the characters are not developed and certainly not believable.

Sorry, but I have to have plot and character development. I'm new to erotica, but I need a story and real characters.

I have never done a book review before, if I don't like it I just move on. Loved her Thieves series. This is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. *******Spoilers******^^
The biggest letdown is after Grace finds out the truth in a frightening situation, time when she's angry and rightly so, she shows about 2 minutes of anger and restraint before deciding having sex is the thing to do instead of finding out what is going on....R YOU SERIOUS

This book was a let-down. Sean is an excessively possessive jerk with insecurity issues, not an actual Dom. Grace's characterization is so inconsistent that I don't really know what to make of her. One minute she's a brat capable of topping from the bottom without remorse and the next she's a doormat. The sex is tepid with very little actual BDSM. The action isn't compelling, at all. I don't buy that there was enough between hero and heroine to justify them jumping into bed together so quickly, much less committing to one another so fully.

Additionally, this needs a thorough editing. I caught at least three major grammatical errors that should never have been allowed to print. And if I caught three, you can bet there are more. This book is all kinds of hot mess. I do not recommend it.

The dom and the doormat is a more truthful title. So totally not what I though it would be. Sending it back for a refund. I like dom/submissive stories but not ones where the sub is so totally a doormat with no a shred of self respect. The writing was decent and it had a good story I woudl have really liked it otherwise

What I liked: I really liked the first few chapters. Good character development of the hunky men in GI Joe type jobs. I like that the lead female character isn't a 20 something virgin but a woman with two grown sons.
Why I rated it a 2: For me, the book really disintegrated after Sean and Grace have their first sexual encounter. The author focuses way too much on the action subplot and hardly at all on the relationship between them. She falls in love by chapter 10 and he falls in love shortly after that. Come on. By the middle of the book I knew it wasn't going to get better - the challenge was over. i don't recommend this book unless you are a fan of action movies with occasional sex thrown in. Read Shades of Grey if you are seeking more believable BDSM relationship building with all the sexy and complex nuances.

The Masters & Mercenaries series was recommended to me by a friend. I also wanted to know more about the McKay-Taggart group having read the Lawless Series by this author.

I could believe the attraction with the age difference between Sean & Grace. Sean Taggert has seen a lot in his 32 years. A favourite part for me was their connection and growing relationship. Sean is creative and nurturing yet dominating and highly intelligent and I loved him.

A pivotal moment for me was when Grace mentions that word "Elephant". After this period her strength and determination shine through. She was such a strong and integral character in this story. She changed peoples perceptions including Ian Taggart whose dominance just beats below the surface of this story.

Following their romance story is the mystery intelligence operation. We get to meet the many characters who make up the McKay-Taggart group. The double-crossing within the story is by no means finished at the conclusion.

I look forward to seeing more of this couple in the coming books.

“The Dom Who Loved Me” is the beginning of Lexi Blake’s new Master and Mercenaries series and I have to say that this book was amazing. I can’t wait to read the following stories!

Sean Taggart works along side with his older brother Ian Taggart at McKay-Taggart. This team is made up of ex-military and other fields that require fast thinking, weapon skills and enough training to know how operations work.

As Sean and the other members of the team get together for a routine conference for a case regarding a terrorist the CIA needs help with. The plan to know whats going on is to get into the building of the agency and get all the intel from the lovely assistance, Grace Hawthorne. No one knows if she’s knows whats going on, but when Sean sees a video footage of her, he’s willing to be the one to go on this mission.

Grace Hawthorne is a widower and has been rising her two college kids as best as she can. Her career is important to her considering she has to pay for her children’s tuition. She’s focus and always on time, but her professionalism seems to go out the window when she meets Sean Taggart. Not only does this man get her ladies bits going again, but shows her his world at Sanctum (BDSM Club) where she explores more about herself. She loves everything, but does Sean want more than what he’s offering?

This story is wonderful. The way everyone was introduced made it easy to connect to the group and feel like you were in the same room with them. Not only did the story just seemed to jump off the page, but the interaction between Sean and Grace clicked really well. It wasn’t instant- love which was nice. The story build it to the highest potential and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Its been a while since I felt such a thrill reading and I absolutely loved it.

I look forward to reading more of the series and high hopes! I highly recommend if you like strong alphas who are kind, protective and gives spankings. A love story blooms with mystery surrounding the plot. Amazing build up!

I got the first three books in a book bundle for $.99! This was my first book by author Lexi Blake, and I'm quit made that I hadn't found her before now!

First this book is the first in a series that currently has 10 books. This is not your typical book either! This book features Sean Taggart who is part of a security team that his brother runs. Most of the men are ex-special forces and pure sex on a stick. If your looking for strong alpha dominant men this is the book series for you. Sean is assigned to get close to Personal Assistant Grace Hawthorne. Sean needs to get close to Grace to learn if she is helping Matt's brother and being part of a eco-terrorist group. Grace is a 40 yr old mother of two grown sons. She lost her husband to a car accident and when she had to go back to work, know one would hire her except her boss Matt. Grace has such a lonely life, but she loves her work and is a very loyal employee. Mean while Grace has been reading these romance novels, that make her want things. She reads BDSM novels, and she realizes that's a relationship she would be happy to explore, but doesn't believe anyone wants her. When she meets Sean her urges are sparked back to life, however her head can't wrap around the fact that Sean is in his 30s and she's 40 yrs old. She can't imagine anyone looking at her as a sexy women. Then when she learns Sean's a Dom and wants her as his Sub all things. Meanwhile we have a terrorist with the CIA looking for information and wanting to accuse poor innocent Grace of helping the bad guy.

Not only do you have amazing character development with an unusual love story you also have this romantic suspense story of trying to figure out who people are, are they telling the truth or are they really the bad guy. This is a fast pace, dark and suspenseful novel that includes a smoking hot Dom who introduce a brave, strong and independent older women to the life style.

Definitely give this book five stars! Can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Grace is 40 years old and Sean calls her "little one". The repetition was a little annoying. The whole D/s thing didn't come across as believable. He's supposed to be a practicing Dom, yet he established no ground rules with Grace, he broke the Dom character during play so often that I figured the story could have done without that aspect. He could have been a typical alpha male who likes to take control in the bedroom. Grace was supposed to be a novice, but they rushed into sub stuff so quickly with little preparation *cough* IYKWIM.

I've read enough D/s stories to appreciate the clear guidelines of those involved and the trust aspect. This story totally lacked that trust.

Usually the bond amongst "Brothers In Arms" is everlasting and unbreakable. They also tend to hold themselves to a code, oh like say, not messing with someone else's woman, hence I thought Adam was a douche.

I couldn't believe how they treated Grace, and she let them. She may have been a suspect, but to bug her apartment and her bedroom while Sean planned a night of seduction was just wrong. Forget about invasion of privacy, that went way beyond, especially when the entire team gets to hear Sean dominate her and then some.

Sean was so desperate to keep a hold on her that he told himself he'd bind her to him with sex. Even worse, the one or two times he didn't use a condom and realized he may have gotten her pregnant, he was fine with that and told himself that a child would definitely bind them together. Begging your pardon? There was no mention on Grace's part about her stupidity in that regard. Where was Grace's thought process in the story?

And Grace - how do you get to 40, raise two sons and keep condoms stocked in the house for them because you don't want to become a grandmother that way, only to have unprotected sex with your "Viking", whom you've known for all of a week or two?

The Pros:

The ending. Sadly, not even the sex could bolster this story.

I'm not even going to get into the scene when things come crashing down around Grace and she finally learns the truth about everything. The way Sean dealt with her was ... dissatisfying.

Not a horrible read by any means, but the characters behaved in a way that I found odd and a little ridiculous for mature adults. I missed the character growth. I would read Ian's story because I'd like to see him taken down a notch or two.

I received a copy of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that I started this series in the beginning. But I am glad that I went back to the first book now because I like knowing how popular books start. I mean this series is probably on of the most known BDSM series these days. Reading the first book was a treat because I got to meet all these characters that got my interest. I don't get to read many books where the heroine is older than the hero, but I know that the ones I read were really good ones. In this book, even if the heroine was about eight years older than the hero, her submissive nature was a great match to him, so their age was never an issue.

Honestly, I feel like the book was a bit dragging in the first half. It was hard to connect with the hero. The heroine was okay, but there wasn't a larger-than-life quality in her character. However, things turned around eventually, and before I knew it, the book was already thrilling and exciting and I just couldn't put it down anymore. I think this was a great way to start the series. I may have already read the later books, but if I was able to read this book when it came out, I would definitely be one of those readers who would have waited patiently for the next installment, and I would have followed and read each book as they came out.

Easily 5 full stars! The title and series name does not do this book justice.
“Ian Taggart is a f****** assassin. He kills people.” Parnell shook his head. “That is exactly like Nelson to send a f****** assassin after me. After everything I did for him. Taggart is a piece of work. If he says he’s running a security company, it’s almost surely a cover for his real work.”
It is very cloak-and-dagger with a lot of clandestine characters. A great suspense you can really sink your teeth in.
Sean and Grace, the main characters are well defined and easy to visualize. The other characters stand out too. You can feel the different connections with all the other players in this story. They are well defined by their actions and a few well placed and important words. Never overdone and never taking away from the real story, but giving the story more dimension and depth.
It is a very steamy adult romance. A thoroughly enjoyable read on all levels!

Lexi Blake has been on my radar for years. I met her in Colorado a few years back, but I'd never read any of her books. Why? Because a good friend of mine loves her and after I'd read a few other authors she'd suggested and didn't like them, she was scared to death that I wouldn't like Lexi's books so she forbid me from reading them. As luck would have it, Lexi made the box set of her first three books in this series free for a weekend and I couldn't resist the temptation.

The first book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series is all about Sean and Grace. It was hard not to fall in love with them. Sean had his stupid guy moments, but he more than made up for them.

One of my favorite things about this book is that it was more than just one sex scene after the next. Readers were able to get to know the characters and see their relationship develop and evolve.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something with a good mix of romance, suspense, and BDSM.

This series is a lovely set of Doms that work at a private security firm.. They also own a private BDSM club and you will be taken into their lives as they meet women that torment their lives to no end while showing them that love isn't really that bad. I saw this author's name with another series that I read Masters of Ménage so I searched out more of her work because I loved the series. I found the free bundle for the first 3 books and as you find in any really well written series you just have to know how the rest find their mates. I really enjoyed this series and have added it to my re-read list. I read over 500 books in a year so having a good series to fill in and re-read is a must. The series is quite Adult in nature and if you can be open minded enough to slip into the story you will enjoy your adventure. If you are the type that puts down a book once all the clothes are off you will miss half of this series as they are adults that enjoy having relationships with their chosen love and they are proud to show you just how much they love them in all ways.

Loved this book!! I was pulled in right from the opening pages and I didn't want it to end. I loved that Sean was immediately drawn to Grace when he saw her picture and I loved that Grace always wore sexy colored high~heels and Sean always noticed. Oh...and I loved how Grace described Sean as looking like a viking!! Ian, Liam, Adam and Jake *sigh* ~ especially Ian!!

Ugh....I had such a LOVE/HATE relationship with Sean. I was so mad at him for constantly expecting Grace to trust him as a Dom when he didn't trust her at all. Grace was so sweet and funny and I could totally picture her as a real person and I hated that they were using her and I was biting my nails waiting for Grace to find out the truth about exactly who Sean, Adam and Jake were and what they were doing. For me this is the true sign of a great book~when I get so wrapped up in the story and characters that I start yelling at my Kindle!! LOL Up till about page 140, I was pretty much hating Sean. I felt Grace gave into him way to easily and I didn't think he deserved her forgiveness so quickly. I so wanted to kick him in his junk~especially when he drugged her wine!! LOL But then there were times that I just loved him. The necklace~so sweet. And the sex~Holy Hotness...total pantie~soaking sex scenes~on the desk, in the pool~*shivers*

There was a lot of laughter in this book also. The scene where Adam helps Grace try on clothes~so funny~especially when Sean finds out about it. Loved Adam and Jake~especially when they pretended to be gay~so funny!!

Such a fun read filled with lovable characters that made me laugh, cry, smile and yell at them~plus a lot of kinky hot sex scenes!! LOVED LOVED LOVED the ending and can't wait for Adam and Jake's book next!! Great start to the series. Definitely a keeper to be reread. 5 out of 5 rating!

***Copy provided by Lexi Blake~Thank you so much!! :)

First things first, LOOK AT THAT COVER! Sorry, got that all out. I admit the cover and the title where the two reasons I bought this book. At the time I had read the Masters of Men age series she co-writes with Shayla Black, but a lot of times it's hard to tell who's voice you are reading at one time or another. I didn't know either that she was Sophie Oak, not that it would've made much of a difference since I haven't read her stuff yet.

So I'm going in blind with no expectations and this book rocked! It has all the elements that I enjoy in my ero tic romance, with the suspense, the secret organization of hot men going undercover and using their dominant sexu ality to get the job done!

Sean Taggart is all kinds of dominant aka my kind of man! He's good at what he does which is why he has to go undercover to try to find a terrorist. With the main suspect being the owner of an employment agency, his best bet is to try to get information out of his assistant, Grace. But Sean is hit with lust and love at first sight, which at times doesn't help him do his job much.

I love the fact that Grace is older than Sean. I love the fact that he makes her feel good about herself and he loves and adores everything about her. The man is good for her self esteem as well as her pleasure. After a life of vanilla but having read plenty of BDSM books, Grace is more than ready to test drive the submissive lifestyle with Sean.

My only complaint was the overuse of "little one". It is not the first time I see this term of endearment in a BDSM book but it is the first time that I felt like if he said it one more time I was going to reach through the pages and choke him.

This book had it all: action, romance, suspense, intrigue and some smoking hot s ex! All the characters were great and I can't wait to read the books for the rest of the men in this series.

I enjoyed this story because the author wasn't afraid to dig deep down and set the stage. She wasn't pressured by creating a sexual scene that hadn't been developed yet by the characters. She really took her time and told her story in detail and introduced the characters in detail. I think though because she explained in detail that it wasn't necessary to keep saying the same thing throughout the story. I understood that Grace was older and felt unattractive.

There was a good chemistry between Grace and Sean, and that's what made it so easy I think to follow. Grace' s character was also nurturing and easy to fall in love with. We also can't help but drool over Sean, he's described as a beautiful god who is sensitive, attentive, sexy, and can totally cook. It really doesn't get much better than that. Sean and Grace's relationship took off until she found out his secret. Grace' s safety quickly becomes jeopardized and she finds out that Sean isn't who he claims to be. Actually she finds out a lot of people in her life aren't who they claim to be. Unfortunately she is placed at deaths door before she can do anything about it, and it may be too late.

Definitely pick this story up. You'll be held hostage on the edge of your seat.

I had heard good things about The Dom Who Loved Me, so when I picked this book up, I was looking forward to a good, sexy read. Still, I was surprised by this book, it exceeded my expectations with the quality of the writing and characters that I came to love. Thank you Lexi Blake for writing Sean Taggart, he makes my short list for favorite Doms ever.

Sean Taggart works for a company (run by his brother) that solves problems of a dangerous nature. In The Dom Who Loved Me, the company is hired to discover and stop a domestic terrorist. The asset the company pursues is a secretary who may or may not be aware that her company is laundering money to fund the terrorist. Sean takes the lead and as he gets close to the secretary, Grace, he discovers that she has a submissive side. As the case becomes more involved, Sean becomes closer to Grace and he doesn't want to let her go. Odds are not in the couple's favor as the danger gets closer and the mission gets personal.

There are many reasons why The Dom Who Loved Me is a good read, but I enjoyed it because the romance was believable, the characters genuine, and the pacing was excellent. When Sean meets Grace, he has to pursue and woo her. Grace is older than Sean, she already loved and raised her kids, she has insecurities and doesn't open up to men easily. The development of their relationship takes time and Sean doesn't trick her and lie to her just to get the job done. Grace's insecurities to pop up quite a bit, and that started to get a little old by the latter part of the book. While Sean is a dominant and Grace is a submissive, their steamy scenes are not over-played. I would classify the BDSM as "light" throughout the book. Don't get me wrong, the sex is HOT, it's just not hardcore BDSM, which I actually loved about this book.

I am so glad that The Dom Who Loved Me is the first book in a series because not only did I love Sean Taggart, but his brother and co-workers are very intriguing characters as well. Each of the characters has their own issues and quirks and I can't wait to find out more about them. Lexi Blake writes likable characters with smoking hot sex scenes, the rest of the Masters and Mercenaries series is going on my To-be-read list today!

I loved it! I have fallen in love with more fictional characters. Sean and Grace were absolutely amazing! Their chemistry was off the charts. Grace's inner struggle of being with a younger man was something I think readers can relate to as it's more common for women to be apprehensive about dating someone younger compared to men dating someone younger. I was extremely glad that Grace didn't let the age difference stop her from opening her heart and accepting what she truly wanted with Sean. I've had this book sitting in my kindle for awhile now. I've read reviews on some of Lexi's writing with Shayla, so I knew without a doubt I wouldn't be disappointed. What I didn't expect was to become so enthralled by all of the characters in this story. Not only did Lexi deliver a great story line with action, suspense, romance, and some hot sex, she created characters that I'm excited to continue to read about. I can't wait to read more in this series. If you haven't read The Dom Who Loved Me, start today!

I absolutely loved this book and now own all the books in the Masters and Mercenaries series. Lexi really does her research into what the BD/SM community is all about. I fell in love with Sean Taggart from day because he has the hots for Grace Hawthorne all because of her sexy shoes. Grace is a widow with two older children that are away at college and loves to read BD/SM romance and has done a little research on her own. So when she and Sean get together he is knocked a little bit sideways because Grace is not at all what he expected. I love that Grace is an older woman she is not twenty-five years old with a hot body. It makes the story that more realistic. Lexi really pours her heart and soul into her characters and it shows. I have read over fifty BD/SM novels and Lexi is one of my favorite authors. Here scenes are realistic and allow me to have that little escape from reality that I so desperately need. It is very easy to get lost in her books. I am looking forward to her next book in this series that comes out in October.

The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake

I thought this story was good. This is the first installment in the beginning of a new series and it did a good job describing the premise of this series and the characters that I believe will be in the next books. I like when this is done in the first book because I can then continue reading them with some understanding of what to expect in the next story. This is a series I will continue reading.

This story is about Grace and Sean and the twists and turns in their relationship. This book had the usual `should I/shouldn't I's in the story. This is what I call the 'push me/pull you' that usually happen in romance books. I compare it to the animal in the Dr. Dolittle movie that looked like a two headed gazelle/unicorn mix. It was well written, easy to read.

The conundrum for me with series and especially the first book is that though this book is about Grace and Sean, it to a degree makes me compare Sean to his brother Ian and the other males in this story. I want to see Sean as the `dominate' yet in scenes with the others he doesn't come off as dominate as I would like. So how do I deal with it? I read them anyway.

I bought this book as part of a five book boxed set called Taste of Decadence (includes 5 books and is now $5.99 though it was $0.99 when I bought it. It's still worth it for the set. All but 1 book was good). This is the first book in the Masters and Mercenaries series. The order being
Book 1: The Dom Who Loved Me
Book 2: The Men with the Golden Cuffs
Book 3: A Dom is Forever
Book 4: On Her Master's Secret Service
Book 5: Love and Let Die
There is a shorter novella called Sanctum that seems to fit somewhere between books 3 and 4 but could easily be read as a stand alone and is not of the same caliber as the others. Each book is about a different couple though we get to revisit them and get to see the family they are creating.

The Dom Who Loved Me is well written, hot and hard to put down but not my favorite in the series. It sets a good basis for the series it's just now that I've read the other books they just really had a much more emotional punch for me. I'd definitely recommend the whole series.

This was a good book. Sean Taggart is hunting a deadly terrorist and his only lead is Grace Hawthorne she works for an agency that Sean believes is a front for illegal activity. Sean works for his brother and childhood friend at McKay-Taggart. Sean seduces Grace to learn the truth. This was a really good book for the first book in this series. The book had action and romance and hot BDSM sex. I loved reading about the people who work at the agency and Ian is my favorite. This book was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. If you like reading about BDSM with hot alpha males and a lot of action then this is the series for you.

The McKay Taggart security service is full of characters waiting to find love in their adventures.
This story about Sean and Grace. She has been caught up in dodgy dealings at the company she works for and Sean is on the team sent in to try and find out what is going on. The romance between them is lightly spiced with BDSM themes, the hero is a hot Viking the heroine a sassy sub, the bed guys are mean and dangerous and the book is a very enjoyable read.

The first book in a series sets the groundwork for all future books, it introduces you to the charachters that are the future of the series, it ensures you want to visit them again and again. It brings everyone to life.

The Dom Who Loved Me is the perfect way to begin a new series. It captures all of the necessary elements to make you want to continue. There is intrigue, drama, love, espionage and of course HEA.

Sean and Grace overcome so much to find happiness in the end. Sean gathers the courage to become his own man from the love he shares with Grace. Grace becomes the woman she was destined to be and stops just surviving to begin living again.

This story will make you laugh and cry and laugh again. It will also make you want to purchase the entire series.

I was sucked in by the cover on this one - it's just gorgeous.

Unfortunately, it took me more than half the book to connect with the characters before I felt fully engaged and cared about what happened to them. Grace is a lovely heroine - a sweet, trusting widow who's been alone too long and indulges in BDSM romantic fiction but has never actually tried the lifestyle for herself.

Enter Sean - deep undercover, he attempts to woo her and get her to submit as part of his cover to infiltrate her boss's organisation. He's pretty much lying to her at every opportunity. He recognises her desire to submit and uses his vast experience as a dom to get her right where he wants her. Now, a D/s relationship is supposed to be based heavily in trust and this is where the story falls down a bit - Grace trusts him but he is lying to her and she is falling in love.

Ian, Sean's older brother, pulls him from the op when he realises he's getting emotionally compromised and this is when I finally started to warm to Sean although he was still convinced that Grace was lying and involved in her boss's op. Where's the trust?? Eventually he realises that she's telling the truth, that he loves her and allows her to use herself as bait against his better judgement and the story changes up a few gears and we get an exciting, thrilling finish.

We have a whole host of future book lead heroes including Jake and Adam who are heavily into ménage and are looking for a girl to share and I suspect that they will be the leads in the next book The Men with the Golden Handcuffs.

It actually felt very reminiscent of a Shayla Black novel and the sex was very hot. I hated that he called her `little one'. She's eight years his senior and it just didn't fit - he explains why he says it but it never felt right to me. I only liked Sean, I never loved him. However, I will read the next one - sucked in again by a great cover and the promise of a delicious duo.

This was a great read, I could not put it down, I ended up staying up till 6am to finish reading it and it was so worth the drowsy day. Sean and Grace are perfect together and the action/suspense of secret ops going with the struggle of D/s and love made for a emotional and invested read.

This was my first Lexi Blake book and I really enjoyed it. You are introduced to a great mix of characters, so this can definitely be a continuing series. There is a great story to go along with the romance, although I did think the male lead, Sean, falls for Grace a little too hard and too fast it is still a great read! If you are looking for the more hardcore BDSM stories, you might find this one lacking. I think it was still a great hot fun read and can't wait to start the next in the series!

This is my first Lexi Blake book and I loved it!! Sean is a man with a job, but has a secret agenda where Grace is concerned. Grace doesn't think of herself as "relationship" material, especially for younger Sean. It was fun to watch him convince her. They were HOT together. I liked the whole team and am looking forward to the next one! ;)

I not only liked the backstory, but also the D/s love story the author developed. The hero is really interested in a loving relationship with his sub, the heroine, who isn't perfect but a normal woman with flaws. I liked that there was no sadism or cruelty, but only a respectful partnership of a man and a woman feeling that they'd found each other's missing half. The hero loves to be in control, but also needs and admires the heroine's gentle, selfless nature. He feels that he wants to protect her from people who would try to take advantage of her. He's great in bed, he looks like Alexander Skarsgard (who clearly inspired the author ;-) ) AND he cooks! I want one like this! All in all, a great read above your average erotica.

Many eons ago if you bought a book and didn't like it, you had the option of giving it away to a less discerning friend, donating it to your public library or reselling it to an unsuspecting sap. Now, I pay for an eBook and have no chance of getting back a fraction of what I paid for it if I deem the book unworthy for whatever reason.

The Dom Who Loved Me is a book I wish I had purchased in hard-copy just so I could sell it back

It took me more than a week to read a 200 page book. Why? Because there was absolutely nothing that held my interest. Towards the end, when I saw danger coming to the hero and heroine a mile away, it was all I could do to plod through to the conclusion. I couldn't have cared less what happened to them.

What hurts me in writing this is that I bought this book, my first Lexi Blake book, based on the glowing reviews of apparently everyone who read it. I don't want to be the sole voice of dissension here, but, come on. Really?

Was this supposed to be a BDSM novel? The Dom with years and years of training in the lifestyle who had absolutely no control of himself or his sub. The "sub" who I see no reason to believe was a sub at all except that she read about BDSM and wanted to give it a whirl.

Also, since this is my first Lexi Blake book, I don't know if this is her writing style or the actions of the editor(s) but I found the writing to be very choppy. Every time we finally start to get some insight into a character, chop, on to something else. By the end of the book when I'm supposed to have a vested interest in the outcome of what will happen to Sean and Grace, I don't really care. Not to mention that some of the dialogue and situations were extremely puerile.

Someone was just murdered; Adam, Jake and Sean need to get Grace out of sight ASAP and whisked away to safety. But instead, the highly trained, ex-military, special forces men stand around in a parking garage having a pissing contest over who Grace belongs to. Again...Really?

Plus, Sean was a little too juvenile for me. In the first chapter when we learn that he is 8 years Grace's junior, I assumed he would be authoritative, mature and smart. He wasn't any of those things. Grace was supposedly witty with a wonderful sense of humor. I have to take their word for it, because there was no evidence of that. We were only told she was through Sean's thoughts.

All in all, this book was not for me. But I'm in the minority here, so what do I know. You may very well love it. But I highly doubt it.

This one is hard to critique for me. Not because I'm on the fence about liking it, I didn't, plain and simple, but because I wan't to be helpful to someone else who is deciding whether or not to read this book. I think the problem w/this book was that I just didn't believe it. A good book gets enough into it that you can't help but believe the story could happen. You become somewhat invested in the outcome.

The BDSM theme wasn't consistent so I couldn't really believe that Grace actually had a true submissive nature. In my opinion, with this genre, the author has to really sell you on the lifestyle as if the characters wouldn't know another way to be. Here, it was as if it was just "for funzies." Sean let her get away with anything. Isn't that topping from the bottom though? Grace's selling point on her submissive nature was mostly her curiosity based on reading romance novels. Well, if that's the case, we all could do it. What they call that, is posing. Now imagine reading a book and thinking the characters are total bunch of posers. Taking a guess that you're not gonna be into it.

I didn't laugh. Not that there were many jokes. No witty or playful banter. No unique characters; if anything, one of the secondary characters, Adam, was more interesting than any of them. As far as the dialogue, it was too...hardcore for me. I know, I know, THAT is basically the selling point of this genre but I've read some things in other books that are WAY descriptive,WAY blunt, and WAY vulgar that have actually been delivered with a creative punch AND it doesn't take away from the "love story" or the characters. When I read some of the things Sean said, I couldn't help but think "Man, whatta douche."

Reading this genre, you have to pretty much know it isn't going to be the best book you ever read but you expect to at least believe a little love exists, get turned on, and like the characters. None of that happened for me.

Try Shayla Black's Wicked Lover series. They are believable, hot & steamy, and thrilling. She knows her Alpha-males.

What a dick. Sean drugs her, spies on her and believes the worst. I agree with Grace, it's hard to believe someone as shallow and controlling as Sean would fall that hard for a 40 year old widow with college aged sons. The BDSM consisted of his beating his chest and being a controlling jerk while not discussing expectations. The way Sean cavalierly neglected to use a condom was very selfish. I hated that every time Grace stood up to Sean he seduced her and she was once again under his thumb. The sex wasn't very erotic, I think she would have been better off with Adam and Jack and there wouldn't have been the "master" nonsense. Sean referring to her as his sub got old. He made her sound like a possesion instead of a woman he deeply cared for; wait, he thought she was an evil operative and he decided to love her anyway. The biggest liar was Sean.

The title is the first lie in this book about a selfish, sadist man who enjoy hurting women. Dominant men are not capable of love, respect or human kindness of any type. "Doms" are sexual bullies who get sexually excited by overpowering someone smaller or weaker, similar to rapists and pedophiles. Smart, confident and emotionally mature women don't take abuse from anyone!

This is book one in the Masters and Mercenaries series. Sean is the operative sent in undercover to investigate a company, trying to discover an eco terrorist. He is also a Dom in his personal life. It seems he is immediately attracted to Grace, even before meeting her. There is a spark, even when seeing a picture of her in a file.

Grace is a widow, who's sons are grown and in college. Even though she is older, she still seems to be very innocent and trusting. She is the personal secretary of a head of a company, but things seem a little strange. Then she meets Sean, who is trying to work a deal with her boss. Right away, he draws her in. Magnetic. Intense. Undeniable. Despite her guilelessness, she has secret desires, and Sean sparks those cravings off like no one else ever has.

Sean and Grace together are like an inferno, a forest fire that can't be put out. This book was pure heat, right from the beginning. It seemed like nothing could stop them being together, but at times, it also seemed like everything was trying to keep them apart. This book was fascinating, a heat filled beginning to a series that promises to be the next one to keep me glued to my ereader! I can't wait to begin the next book!

You start with men coming to McKay/Taggart Security to hire them Sean works for his brother Ian Taggart. When he sees the picture of a woman in a plain suit but bright shoes he is interested in finding out all her secrets. He can't seem to get close. He's a Dom sure she is a sub (but she is not, yet) and he is not used to not getting what he wants. Will he win? Will he find he might enjoy her and his? Will she want a Dom? You will find a fun story with these there and Adam and Jake (friends of Sean from the military) now also working for Ian. Of course you have your bad guys and really bad guys and the trouble they bring that causes all the good people to end up working together for your HEA ending. Now I Know there are 4 more stories that I want to get . In the next Adam and Jake's story continues.

I started this series in the middle and it quickly became of one of my favorites, but I thought I would go back to the beginning and see how the main characters got their happy endings.

The Dom Who Loved Me is book one and revolves around Little Tag, Sean Taggart and Grace Hawthorne. Grace is a personal assistant to someone who’s not quite on the up and up. Her boss is hiding secrets and it might just get her killed. Sean goes undercover and gets Grace to trust him, only for everything to blow up in his face. Grace is a natural submissive and Sean is calling dibs. These two are in for a bumpy ride, in more ways than one.

Loved the characters, the suspense, the heat, and everything in between.

I love this book! The storyline is fast paced with action, intrigue and romance. Lexi Blake has created dynamic characters that are multilayered, charasmatic, intelligent and sinfully sexy. Sean Taggart and Grace Hawthorne as a couple just work. In her he finds the peace he's been missing in his lufe. She's his home. For Grace, her Viking, feeds her submissive soul and brings love back into her life.

Sean Taggart works for his brother's private security group, Taggart and MacKay. He has gone undercover at the agency that Grace Hawthorn works at. Grace is a widow, with two grown sons. There is a mystery to be solved as well as the development of a May/December romance. Sean is a Dom and Grace is a hidden submissive. This is a great start to a wonderful series. We finally have a woman who is not a virgin, who had a great love, is in her forties and is getting a second chance. I love the mystery, I love the interactions of the characters at the agency, esp between Sean and his brother. A good 4.5 star read.
