This story just didn't have the same emotional aspects that the other books in this series does. Seems to be filled with just raunchy sex scenes and not any love making scenes. Loved all the others in this series but should have skipped this one. I initially skipped it but then went back thinking that the reviews were wrong. Shoulda listened.

I really liked this book. Deke and Kimber are decent characters. At times the story did seem a little far fetched, but still pretty decent. The book is filled with erotica so enjoy. This story is about two people coming together through a little bit of a plot.

I meant to write this review a few days ago, I was so thoroughly satisfied! Shayla has done it AGAIN and I so look forward to Hunter's story due to come out next year....Bummer I don't want to wait! I won't get into the plot so many have described it well. Just know you WILL NOT be disappointed!

This is going to be a rant. Synopsis have already been done etc...

Alyssa the heroine has a spine of steel. She's an ex-stripper with quite a past that she has worked to put behind her and improve her life as well as give other women the opportunity to change as well. She's not perfect, but she's admirable.

The H, Luc, is a pretty boy chef with a mighty and magic manhood, and is without a doubt one of the dumbest heroes EVER. If there is a wrong decision to make, a conclusion to jump to, Luc's there jumping in with both feet. Luckily for him and us, he's cute, hot and knows how to grovel as well as cook. He's apparently good at sex as well. The other alpha guys in the series are constantly giving him heck for making stupid decisions about one woman or another which he deserves 100%.

Alyssa and Luc are not why I am writing this review. No, the real reason is about a secondary character from a previous book in the series, Kimber from Decadent. Kimber! Not even Kimberly. Get a whole name, girl. I hate this character soooo much. She was bad enough in Decadent where she wanted to get sexual experience in a menage-a-trois of which one participant is Luc while staying a virgin (roll my eyes) so she could impress her loser rocker boyfriend. Now these two concepts are not that compatible: "virgin" and "menage". Yeah, yeah, I know about the Shayla Black's whole Masters of Menage series, but their goal is for the h NOT be a virgin sooner rather than later.

In this book, Kimber SPOIILER
visits Alyssa in the hospital. Alyssa knows about her past with Luc and is not happy with it or her. Kimber proceeds to tells Alyssa how happy and grateful everyone is that Alyssa has foisted off another man's baby on Luc as Luc has always wanted a baby of his own. Hey, if Luc's okay with it they are too. She goes on ad nauseum about it. Luc's drive for beaucoup menages is because he wants a baby and hopes some other guys sperm will do the deed. So all is great. Um, okay. All news to Alyssa as the baby IS Luc's, and she never knew how much of a cheating hussy he thought she was.
I really hate her, Kimber that is. I don't know why. No, I do know why. She's a prissy, menage-a-troising hypocrite.

Okay, that's pretty much it.

It's a fun, sexy read.

I'm torn between which book is my favorite so far. Although I've only read the first three. I can't decide if Delicious is my favorite or Decadent.

This book continues the story of Luc Traverson. He's a man who seems to have it all. He has more money then he can spend, a number one cook book with a second on the way. A TV series in the works and so much more. Unfortunately the one thing he doesn't have he believes he'll never achieve. He's a man without a family. He has no child because a tragic illness left him sterile

Then comes Alyssa Devereaux. She's a former exotic dancer, now strip club owner, hopping to branch out and open a restaurant. After sleeping with Luc several weeks ago she's now cashing in on a promise, Luc is to be her head chef for opening week. It seems like the perfect plan except she never planed on falling hopelessly in love with Luc after there first night together. Things only worsen when she realizes she doesn't fit into what Luc perceives as his future plan. He's looking for a down to earth and simple woman who will be the perfect mother and not complain when he confesses that to have a child with him it may take a while and it may entail some procedures that do not include conceiving the old fashion way.

Alyssa is none of the things he believes to be the perfect mother. He knows nothing about her past or who she really is, all he knows is the present and the fact that she's an ex-stripper, whom just the sight of makes Luc wild with desire. His plan to ignore her for the week changes on the first day and from that moment on he's lost. You'd think things would be perfect, I mean come on, they both are ready to com-bust with desire at just the sight of one another. The problem is Luc can't seem to get his head out of his ass long enough to get to know her and see how wonderful she really is and just forget about his so called "ideal woman". He can't see that weather he wants to or not he's already hopelessly in love with her. He can't see that she's not what he believes is the stereotype. He can't seem to understand that he's the only one she's slept with in years and that what she feels for him is genuine. Convincing him is hard on her self-esteem, self-worth and self-preservation.

There are many twists and turns in this book that are a signature with Shayla Black's books. Just when you think they've got the bad guy....low and behold there's another one. With stalkers, crazy men and Alyssa's past and a few other things I wont spoil I just couldn't put this book down. This book hooked me within the first chapter and it kept me hooked until the end. There were times I just wanted to yell at the characters and say..."Hey just sit down and spill", or "why can't you just believe her, what has she done to create such doubt". I laughed, I cried, I had to turn on the air because it just got so dam intense that I felt like crawling up the wall. I loved this book and I can't wait to get the next few in this series. There on my list of must reads and I hope you all do to.

Alyssa, a strip club owner with whom Luc recently shared one night of wild abandon. It left Luc terrified by his loss of self-control-and Alyssa desperate for more. What started out as a threesome quickly turned into a twosome when In book two of this series Luc and Deke went to Alyssa house to have a threesome, but Deke was too hung up on Kimber so he left. Alyssa is desperate for more, but Luc isn't the only man that wants Alyssa there is Tyler and the person who hired him to find her. Luc is also keeping secrets when she tells them about their accident he is happy this is his chance to be a father even if he thinks the kid is not his after being told that he has a low sperm count at 16. This book also had a lot of action and once again the friends in this series come together to help Alyssa. The book was well written (read as I listened to it) with no errors in grammar or spelling. I really liked Alyssa and Luc and this series.

We were introduced to Alyssa in Wicked Ties and Decadent, and Luc in Decadent. Both were compelling characters in those books, and they carried that interest into their own book. Dozens of other people have already detailed what this book is about, so no point in repeating it here, I will only give my opinion of this book.

I loved it and would happily recommend to anyone. Luc was sigh worthy. He had decency, he had sex appeal, he was protective, AND he can cook. What more can a woman want.

We also got to see the softer, more determined, and intelligent side of Alyssa. For the way Jack had described her in Wicked Ties, I wasn't sure she could be likable, but she was. What's more, we learn about her heartbreaking and tragic life and why she was the way she was.

My only issue with this book is that for a while there it seemed every male charrie in the book was out for Alyssa. They just kept coming one after the other. But as issues go, that's really nothing. The sex scenes were sizzling. Simply scorching. It held my interest from beginning to end, and that's saying something. Few books/writers are able to do that for me, so kudos.

While this book is the 3rd book in the Wicked Lovers series, you won't be lost if he haven't read the first two. Each book is good as a stand alone, which I always appreciate.

A definite read. 4.5 Stars

"Delicious", book 3 in the Shayla Black, Wicked Lovers series is full of passion and danger and shows how shame effects thoughts and emotions, alters perceptions, and stunts relationships. This is my favorite in the series so far.

"Delicious" begins three months following the hookup between Lucas "Luc" Traverson and Alyssa Devereaux in "Decadent", book 2 of the Wicked Lovers series. The primary characters, Luc and Alyssa, are rich and well developed. I cared about and related to the caring and handsome Luc and the strong and sexy Alyssa.

"Delicious" demonstrates why a first impression is just a moment in time and stereotypes are not truth but a bias. Allowing a bad initial impression and social bias to determine your opinion of someone can cause you to miss a great thing.

You will want to read "Delicious" over and over again.

Both characters I did not care for. Luke was ass the bulk of the book always thinking Alyssa was sleeping with all of Louisiana. And Alyssa seemed to be doing everything possible to prove him right. She was constantly parading around half dressed or naked in front of Tyler, her bouncer, or letting him touch and kiss on her. Luke even found her asleep in Tyler's bed, but she wonders why Luke thinks she's cheating.

Alyssa and Luke's entire relationships seem to be built on lies and manipulation. They never really opened up and truly talked to each other. And the only time they really got along was in bed together.

Tyler was a welcome distraction from Luke and Alyssa's drama. He, Hunter, and the characters from the previous two books were pretty much the saving grace for this one. The only thing that kept me from giving up on this book completely, was the fact that is part of a series that I'd like to continue. Hopefully the next additions will be better.

Alyssa Devereaux is an ex-exotic dancer who owns her club, but she has worked hard to open up her new restaurant that she is hoping will mean she can leave the world of exotic dancing forever. Opening day is a huge accomplishment to her and it's bringing Luc back again. Alyssa hopes that this time she can show Luc that their one night together deserves many more. She knows that this might be her last chance. Alyssa has never felt anything like she did that night with Luc. Now she has to find a way to convince Luc that they belong together no matter what she has to do.

Luc Traverson has tried to forget about the night he spent with Alyssa. Never before had he lost all his renowned self control as he did with her. Luc is normally a much more considerate lover after the fact, but with Alyssa he just ran. Now he is back to fulfill an agreement he made with her - cooking in her restaurant during the opening week. He's here, but Luc tried to get out of the agreement - Alyssa wasn't having any of it. Just his first glance at her has his body revving like it was just last night. This is going to be a long and hard week in more ways than one.

Things start going wrong from that first night in Luc's opinion. Alyssa is just trying to go with the flow and show just how willing she is. The sexual tension is thicker than ever and Luc is determined to ignore it. He has his reasons for sticking firm, but his body isn't happy about it. The sexual pull between Alyssa and Luc is bad enough but it appears that someone else wants Alyssa himself. Threats and damages to Alyssa's property lead to even more danger towards Alyssa. Luc might, maybe, have been able to get through the week without sex until someone starts to threaten Alyssa. The danger ramps up as the passion explodes between them. Luc and Alyssa discover that the intensity is unchanged if not stronger. One more night is just not enough for either of them but a week is only so long. Secrets and half-truths are being kept by both Luc and Alyssa as they work together both for the restaurant and to find out who is leaving those "calling cards." Once all the truths are out, will their dark and furious passion be enough to build a future on?

One erotic and passionate night deserves another - doesn't it? In Delicious Alyssa is sure that it does. Luc made an agreement and he will keep it, but that is all he is planning on giving Alyssa. Alyssa wants more from Luc then just his cooking ability and plans on showing him. I have waited for Luc's book and from the very first paragraph I could tell that Luc and Alyssa were going to explode off the pages - I was not mistaken. Their erotic encounters were smoking indeed. However, that was only part of the reason I read Delicious in one day/night. I simply was just unable to put it down. Shayla Black gave Luc and Alyssa a story that kept me on an emotional roller coaster. It had me sweating and despairing that they would ever find a way to be together. There is just so much about both Luc and Alyssa that I would have never guessed. There were times that I wanted to shake both of them and then immediately after I would want to cry for them. While I can't tell you why I had those feelings, what I can tell you is that it is a book you won't forget anytime soon. To say that Delicious is erotic, emotional or even suspenseful is not even close to being what I found between the pages. It is the combination of those along with Ms. Black's superb writing that makes Delicious a have-to-read and a keeper not to be missed. It also makes it Joyfully Recommended, as that is the highest praise I can give it.

The third Wicked Lovers heated romance (see Wicked Ties and Decadent) is a terrific tale of a man who keeps humming to himself I'm Not In Love (10 CC) because the adulation of his affection is a stripper. Alyssa proves to him and readers she is much more than a stereotyped stripper as her business acumen is superb; though that is two edged as it simplifies Luc's personal moral dilemma yet also makes the heroine wonderfully complex. Fans will enjoy this deep Bayou Wicked Lovers' saga as Luc loves Alyssa although she is not his the opposite of the image of his paragon mate.

This book is aptly titled! From the very first line I knew I was in for a special treat and I wasn't disappointed. The characters, the drama, the suspense, the eroticism, and most importantly the heart-stopping romance all combined to make Delicious a perfect read. Alyssa is a tortured heroine who has overcome a horrible past and stands as a great example of what we can accomplish if we work hard to help ourselves. Her drive to succeed, her generosity with others, and her willingness to embrace her own sexuality combine to make her an unforgettable character. Luc made some grave mistakes along the way and I thought he would never learn his lesson but he soon won me over. I was caught up in their lives and felt like I was reading about my best friends. Page after page I was spellbound by the drama unfolding and didn't want to stop reading. The sexual tension was off the charts steamy and the suspense had my heart pounding. Luc and Alyssa burned up the sheets and anywhere else they happened to be. I found myself emotionally invested throughout the book - crying, sighing, rejoicing, fussing, and even squirming at times. I was sad to see the end of the book and really hope the author has plans for a special secondary character to have his own happily ever after. Characters from previous books in this series make an appearance in Delicious, but it certainly isn't necessary to have read the previous books. However, I know once you read this one you'll want to go back and read the prior books. Delicious is sizzling hot and one for the keeper shelf! - Lisa Freeman

Three months ago, Luc Traverson and Alyssa Devereaux had a night of unfettered bliss. Terrified of his loss of control with her, the celebrity chef quickly made himself scarce. After all, the plans he has for the future include a proper wife, children and white picket fences. They don't include a strip club owner, even if said owner is using her business acumen to open a high scale restaurant.

Making good on a bargain, Luc agrees to be the star chef for opening week at her restaurant. The mere sight of her drives him wild, but a promise is a promise. Each day they're together his feelings and respect for her increase exponentially. Try as he might, he can't get her out of his system, which wreaks havoc on his well made future plans. But when a stalker turns dangerous, Luc realizes he can't let her go. The question is, will he be able to save her in time?

Once again, Shayla Black has penned an absolute winner. Although Luc played a prominent role in Decadent it was wonderful to see him get his own story in Delicious and Alyssa's just the woman to take him on. Each has their own secrets, which will have the reader voraciously flipping through pages, eager to learn more.

The storyline is thoroughly gripping and wonderfully suspenseful. The sexual tension and chemistry between Luc and Alyssa is so blisteringly sexy the pages fairly melted. These characters have an emotional depth with a satisfying complexity that fans of Ms. Black have come to expect from her novels. This story was read in one sitting: one minute laughing, the next minute crying, all the while gripping the pages with nail biting anticipation. Previous fans and new readers alike will devour the pages with reckless abandon.

DELICIOUS, the third book of Shayla Black's WICKED LOVERS series, more than lives up to its title! Luc Traverson, whom readers met in DECADENT, has finally met his match in Alyssa Devereaux. Luc is ready for his well planned life and his resulting lust and emotional combustion for Ms. Devereaux is definitely not on his list.

Luc Traverson has everything about his life planned out - right down to the type of woman he wants to marry. Because of his secret medical condition, Luc has to find the right woman to make his dreams come true. She needs to be above reproach, innocent to a point, and willing to become a mother. As with all well ordered preparations, there is just one problem. Ever since he spent an explosive night with Alyssa Devereaux, Luc hasn't been able to get her out of his mind and because of this, he decides that he can't be around her for any amount of time. Reneging on a promise to help her open her restaurant, Luc tries to get out of his obligation - however, all bets are off the minute he finds out that someone is doing their best to scare Alyssa out of town. With the woman he desires in danger, Luc's decision is made - he will be sticking around until he uncovers the culprit, even if he has to ignore the fact that he might not be the only man in her life.

Alyssa Devereaux has her own agenda. She has been unable to forget Luc Traverson since the night they spent together months ago. With her new restaurant opening, Alyssa is finally going to be able to put her exotic dancing behind her, and she is hoping that with Luc as her guest chef, her establishment will be a success. When Luc tries to get out of his agreement, Alyssa knows she is going to have to pull out the big guns. But, with one look from Luc, she finds herself putty in his hands and in his bed.

Luc knows he is making a mistake being with Alyssa, but she is like the finest wine - he has tasted her passion and is unable to walk away no matter that he thinks he isn't the only man in her life or that she might be unsuitable for what he wants to achieve in his life. When she comes to him with the most outrageous lie he has ever heard, Luc sees his dreams coming true despite his anger. Now if he can keep the woman he desires from danger, Luc's reasons will be safe. Or so he thinks.

Luc is a character I have thought about for a long time. First introduced in Shayla Black's novel DECADENT, Luc has inner demons driving him. He is talented, sexy, and an extraordinary lover. Raw and powerful, he knows exactly how to take a woman's breath away. He is quite simply one of the most luscious men I have ever read about.

Alyssa is a woman after my own heart. Working her way up from nothing, she is smart, witty, and beautiful. Men desire her and she has been able to use that to her advantage and make a life for herself. I applaud her yearning to become a businesswoman and am proud of her accomplishments. Most of all, I am green eyed with envy at the way she loves Luc. She loves him with her whole heart and soul. And that is exactly what he needs.

Too DELICIOUS to put down, I singlehandedly read this erotic and well written tale cover to cover. Experiencing a plethora of emotions right along with Luc and Alyssa, I found myself holding my breath more than once. Suspense plays a big part in DELICIOUS, and I am happy to report that I was unable to decipher the villain until the very end. With commanding and passionate love scenes, DELICIOUS is a book to be savored over and over. I consider it one of the best books I have ever read - it totally satisfied my romance loving heart. And I didn't even need chocolate!

This book just blew me over. It's definitely one of the best erotic romances I've ever read and particularly it's outstanding heroine makes this book so special.

Whenever chef Luc Traverson and strip club owner Alyssa Devereaux come together the sexual chemistry between them is mind-blowing. Months ago they spent an unbelievable erotic night together and now Alyssa wants more of Luc. She has developed feelings for him and tries everything to get him back into her bed and her life. But Luc only sees the stripper and strip club owner when he looks at Alyssa. He isn't able to look behind her facade to see the woman who craves to be loved.
So Luc does his best to not get involved with her again but when threats are made against Alyssa he can't stand back any longer. Soon he's back into her bed but still his prejudices make him wary of getting into a meaningful relationship with her. In the end he has to overcome his suspicions and start trusting in Alyssa if he really wants to have a chance with this amazing woman.

"Delicious" is one of the books that I couldn't lay out of my hands after I started reading it. In my opinion it's an amazing erotic romance and I love everything about it.
Alyssa is one of the strongest and greatest heroines I ever met in a book. She went through hell in her past but still managed to turn her life into something worth admiring. I love how hard-working and honest she is. She is a true survivor and deserves only the best.
Luc is hot (of course) and very stubborn. Sometimes he acted so hardheaded that I wanted to shake him. But let's face it, we all have prejudices against certain people (for example strippers), so in part I could understand his suspicions and behaviour. But Luc was always there for Alyssa when it really counted and therefore I think that they are a fantastic pair.
I enjoyed the sex scenes between Alyssa and Luc a lot (so absolutly delicious) and Shayla Black definitely writes some of the best and hottest erotic novels.
It was also great to meet characters from the other books of the "Wicked Lovers" - series again and I'm already excited for "Surrender to me", which is Hunters book and will be released in March, 2011.

Alyssa runs a strip club and is a former stripper. She's opening a restaurant and gets famous chef Luc Traverson to cook opening week. There months ago they had a six hour sex marathon but Luc is looking for a sweet, girl next door, woman for a wife. Definitely not a stripper but she aims to seduce him for the week he's there but someone is leaving threatening notes, breaking into her club and house. Good story, kept me turning the pages but I could not stand Luc. Alyssa was strong, beautiful and smart. She deserved better than Luc.

I was a little disappointed by this book. In a lot of ways it lived up to what I thought I was going to be. . . HOWEVER, I really go annoyed by Luc and his constant perception of Alyssa being a "whore." His stereotypical mindset was exhausting to read, repeatedly. It took too long for his small brain to wrap around the fact that Alyssa could actually be a smart savvy business woman. Even after learning she encouraged the girls that worked for her to go back to school and even helped them find assistance. Did he honestly think she would not know anything about running a business- strip club though it maybe- so there for she wouldn't really have to be smart? Yes, it was a concept quite unfamiliar for Luc to have-you know giving someone the benifit of the doubt.

Everything she did that screamed success and educated decisions, ie being able to open up an amazing restaurant- he perceived as woman who got client help finding great deals by selling herself-he is constantly thinking the worst of her and getting angry at her. AND honestly- he's 'sterile' so he thinks absolutely nothing of protecting them with the chance that he could get Alyssa pregnant. Just because he has/had physical issues does not mean it was a zero chance to have a baby. He however makes up for it with all his pouting and temper tantrum like ways.

Instead of being upfront with Alyssa when he holds this secret- the whole time thinking the woman he 'loves' or could love- again is a whore passing off someone else's child to be his, only he is more than happy to take the roll of father. Where does this guy get off? I just felt really sorry for Alyssa-until her stupidity about how 'what if's' got in her way. On more than one occasion when you would think she could not handle more insult- she goes back for more.

It was such a push and pull of a chaotic, un-trusting and sometimes violent relationship, that it was hard, by the end to believe the honesty of their "love." You would think that with a past like her's-Alyssa would have been less likely to allow Luc to treat her the way he does. Instead, it takes him using her aggressively, for sex out of jealousy for her to tell him to never touch her or come near her. . . Later it's when she finds out he thought she'd been lying about the baby's father and she realizes, again how horribly Luc thinks about her.

I gave it three stars because, for what it is it did deliver in certain areas-It was a steamy read, and for the first few chapters lived up to my expectations- but the ending itself was just too much. I felt a little cheated and felt like Luc & Alyssa's relationship needed to flourish a little more before I'd by it.

These two deserved each other. They were both troubled souls with deep rooted insecurities and the back and forth of double and mis-trust was a bit tiring. After finishing the book I felt like I'd ran a marathon and just need to take some very deep breaths! Whew. Like the other books in the series, the sex was hot, hot, hot and the characters had chemistry out of this world.

This book has plenty of twist of turns that kept me on my toes.

Delicious was a compelling tale of Luc and Alyssa. Even though I disagreed with the story line quite often, I still felt compelled to read it to the end. Yes, there was plenty of hot, melt the ink off the pages sex scenes, but I also like to have a believable plot & storyline in a book too. There seemed to be too much repetition within the book...the multiple stalkers, multiple confrontations of truth vs disbelief, etc. Enough already. It felt like Luc & Alyssa no sooner got through one crisis and then another was opon them. Too much forgetable drama for me.

Most times I found myself frustrated with the character Luc...he was written as a very narrow minded self indulgent male. I just wanted to smack him up side his head to knock some sense into him...and I'm not a physically violent person. While I loved him in Decedent, I just had a hard time totally liking him in Delicious. He just couldn't seem to pull his head out of his a** as far as his beliefs about Alyssa's morals vs what his "perfect wife" would be like. He was told the truth over and over and over again, yet it never sunk in his thick skull. Tunnel vision to the nth degree.

I opted this time for the pb book vs the Kindle version, just because there was only a mere $.30 odd cents difference between the 2. I personally have a hard time justifying paying big bucks for ebooks...where as an actual book gives you a physical product.

Would I ever purchase any future books by this author? Yes, as I am hoping Hunter's book is better than this one. I think she is a good author, but just lost her way when writing this book.

After reading "Delicious" I mulled over what did and didn't work for me for quite a while, and also whether or not I really enjoyed the book overall- Black is always good for scorching sex scenes, as well as a story that will tug at your heart. However, I found there to be too many problems with this book, or rather, things that were done to and by the character that made me want to speed to the end just to say I'd finished it:
(potentially spolierish):

-I had a really difficult time connecting this Luc to the Luc from "Decadent." I remember reading "Decadent" thinking how much I didn't like the hero at all, and that I'd rather the heroine end up with Luc-and when I happened to stumble on "Delicious" I was THRILLED to see that my favorite character was receiving a book of his own. Unfortunately, this Luc seemed to have undergone a complete personality change where he was constantly judging, assuming and disregarding everything the heroine said-oh, and I'm going to reiterate the judgmental part of that statement because I haven't read a more sanctimonious 'hero' in quite some time.

-In that vein, how many times did Alyssa have to tell Luc that she hadn't slept with Tyler? While I'm not a fan of it, I do understand the "what you see is what you get" belief and in this case, I can understand his hesitation with believing her the first time she makes this statement based on his preconceived notions of her character. However, by the 5th or 6th time I read this statement and the accompanying argument (which inevitably devolved into a sexual encounter) I was beyond irritated and disgusted with the hero's behavior. How am I supposed to read a book about a developing relationship where the main character doesn't believe his heroine hasn't slept with another man (after she professed this at least 6 times) until the last 20 pages of the novel when the other man has spelled it out?

-Finally, how many times do we have to read about the heroine being attacked? I have to agree with another reviewer that the 'suspense' in this novel was too over the top-I mean seriously, did she need to be attacked 3 separate times by 3 separate bad guys? By the time she was attacked the third time by the MOST vile character, I was apathetic about the whole situation and just wanted the book to be over. The second attack should have never been written, all it did was detract from the impact of the third. Not to mention that I was extremely POed that we didn't get to see trial and outcome of the attempted rapist. After being stopped in my tracks by the first attack, I was really gunning for him to be thrown behind bars for what he did but all we hear after the event is a) he was put in jail, then released and b) a brief mention of his upcoming trial.

Overall, I thought this book was a decent way to pass a rainy Sunday afternoon. Ultimately though, I'm not too impressed with Black's ability to write a book that involves a hero I don't want to slap into next week. It seems she's fallen into the trend of other romance authors who pen a great secondary male character that develops a fan base, and then she completely does a 180 on him when she writes his own book. Black gets two stars only because she penned a heroine I didn't want to read about initially, but in the end, I was rooting for her all the way.

If you want to read an excellent novel about characters with a shared history, where the heroine's actions lead the hero to not-quite trust her, read: Mine to Possess (Psy-Changelings, Book 4). This book will put you through the wringer emotionally, and get you hooked (if you aren't already) on fantastic paranormal romance series that is batting 100% so far.

I don't get the positive reviews for this book. The plot is weak, the characters are vapid, and the sex scenes are horribly written! I get the draw of titillation from the hot scenes (when they are actually well written), but it seems each one of these "adult romance" novels is worse than the last.

Alyssa has two men in love with her who have to rescue her from assailants not once, not twice, but three times! On top of that she has a dark past involving sexual abuse. Come on...not even Lois Lane needs rescuing that often!

Luc is a wonderful guy if you can get past the fact that he doesn't listen to or believe a word Alyssa says but some how he loves her beyond his sexual attraction?

I found this one in my local library. I'm curious as to how it came to be there. It certainly wasn't worth purchasing.

I am new to this author. I read the first book in the series and then this book. I should have read the middle book. There were so many references to characters and scenes in that book. I love how this author adds suspence to her storylines. This story line was just rough. I get that she is beautiful and blonde and a stripper. How is one woman the victim (or focus) of five different men. I had to suspend belief as her hell went on and on. It was too much for me. I hate to go lower than four stars on this author. I was tempted!

He has baby fever but doesn't think she's good enough for him. The story line became annoying. She was strong, intelligent and determined. His thinking she was constantly dishonest when she wasn't was frustrating to read.

The book started off ok. Not great, not terrible. I continued to read it because I had nothing else to read at the moment. All in all I'm glad I stuck with it. There were parts of the story line I had a hard time relating to. Without giving too much away Alyssa, the female lead, created situations in her life that were not in the best interest of her relationship with Luc, the male lead. After creating these obstacles in her relationship, she couldn't figure out why Luc was having a hard time trusting her. And I just couldn't grasp on to that. It's a very sexy, very erotic book. Which I like. A little bit slow getting into, but all in all it was good.

*SPOILERS* The story overall, had a very good plot and flow, the only thing i couldn't stand was all the sex! I know, it's a romance novel, and don't get me wrong, I love a little steamy passion in a book but this felt like too much. They would have sex under the worse circumstances, things that kind of felt like 'Really? You're going to put a sex scene in the middle of this?'. Also, one of the main character's, Alyssa, is the epitome of Murphy's Law. The author tried to hard to make her the damsel in distress and overdid it. Both of the main characters are extremely frustrating, only because they act like high school kids, playing stupid games with each other when it comes to love. Other than this, the book wasn't so bad, but by the end of the novel, i was just glad it ended, not sad that there wasn't more.

Skip this book and go to the next one. After reading Wicked Ties I thought this author is AWESOME. I still think the author is great, but this book was a mess. I am convinced that someone else had to have written this book and signed her name to it. She should investigate and sue the pants off of that person. If she did write this book, whomever told her that it was good please do not listen to them anymore.
SPOILER
Alyssa was so stupid. I could not believe that she was a smart educated women. I have bags of hair weave that has more sense. I don't know how many times Luc called her a whore. It was beyond stupid. I was hoping that her stalker would just kill her and put all of us out of our misery.
This book was so bad that eventually I just gave up and read the ending.
If you read this review and think to yourself wow I need to read this to find out why this is so bad. Save your money and rent it at the library. You will be so glad that you did.
Again, Skip this book and go to the next one.

This is the first Shayla Black book I have read, and I will not read another.
There is nothing sexy or romantic about this plot considering the nature of Luc. Luc treats Alyssa terribly throughout most of the book. How can the reader root for a couple when they guy is emotionally abusive? It can't simply be explained away by saying "She was a stripper and he was struggling with his feelings about that". She didn't lie about her job or pretend to be someone else. He was just a jerk who wanted to pretend that he had moral superiority. His misogynistic and abusive nature made Luc the one who was low class, not Alyssa.

I loved Luc in Deke's story! I was thrilled to read his own story! His loving personality really opens up and you see a whole new side to him. I loved being introduced to Alyssa and learning more about her!  Great book!

This book was just pure hot sex lol & I'm not complaining. The romance was a little lacking but all the passion made up for that for sure. I would recommend this book for sure if you're really into the hot and steamy stuff.

Wow I was so looking forward to this book and ran out and got it when it hit the shelf @ Borders.

Boy what a disappointment Luc was not a hero, he came across as a misogynist, with his thought on Alyssa, he wants her, he slept with her, but he thinks she a slut that won't make a good mother because she strips, shocked when he finds out that she went to college.

Every man she talks too she must be sleeping with,or slept with, he does have a girlfriend back home that he brought a ring for, but yet has not problem sleeping with Alyssa again, oh and still thinking she sleeping with other men.

The rest of the plot the, one with the stalkers was kind of on the come on, no one can be that unlucky, just way to over the top for me and very unrealistic.

Alyssa had a small intro in the first book, and I didn't like her with the fake boobs we all know what stripper boobs look like, she came across hard, the second book when Luc and Alyssa got together, I was like EWWWW nasty why her for Luc, this book made me like Alyssa and hate on Luc who, I felt sorry for because of his not being able to have kids and him wanting them so much, that made me melt for Luc, but this book made me change my opinion of him, as he came across as a narrow minded pig.

Shayla Black is still an auto buy with me I hope she does a better job with Hunter's book.
