Maureen is a Biotechnology Engineer and was kidnapped from her lab by a Merc, then the President kidnapped from him, and then she was rescued and taken back to Vanguard.
Greyson was in the Navy before the Scorpious hit. He is the leader of the Mercs and needs Maureen to find out if their hothouses can grow food. The heat turns up between them but will she have to choose between her brother and the Vanguards or Greyson and his Mercs?
They have the President and his men trying to destroy everything they love.
Excellent story line. Action packed. Will leave you on the edge of your seat. Very hot sex scenes. I love all her books and can't wait for next one.

Greyson doesn't like to be disturbed when he's with his lady, "...he lay down and cuddled her close. Protecting her. A knock on the door nearly made his brain blow up. Why did this keep happening? Enough was enough, and he might just gut the person on the other side of the door and be done with it. “Go the eff away,” he snapped loudly." Greyson's lady sometimes just surprises him with her reaction:
Her chin dropped. “You missed him?”
Grey lifted his head and then barked out a laugh. “That's what surprised you?”
I really liked this book, and am excited for the next one.

Rebecca Zanetti delivered an incredibly rich and steamy romance with the fourth book in her amazing dystopian Scorpius Syndrome Series.
There was a bit of forbidden romance going on in this one. Greyson and Maureen's romance began with a kidnapping but soon their mutaul attraction evolved into true love. It doesn't get any more romantic that that, my friends. As usual, Rebecca Zanetti's storytelling was amazing with a rich, vivid and super twisting plot.
I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one in the Scorpius Syndrome Series.

I just finished reading Rebecca Zanetti’s latest Scorpius Syndrome book, Storm Gathering and there is absolutely no way write a non-spoilery review. Highlighting my favorite parts will only give everything away. Suffice it to say, this book dramatically, and quickly, moves the overarching story forward. Longtime readers will be pleased with the twists and turns. New readers might want to start at the beginning. While technically it stands alone, this one is better read with history.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

This was a good novel, but my least favorite in the series so far. However, I am invested in the overall plot. Will they find the cure to the Scorpius virus? Will the human race die out because pregnancies don’t survive the virus? Will this evil president ever die? There are so many questions unanswered! I’ll just have to read the next book to find out!

I've been waiting for Grayson and Maureen's story for multiple books, so I was super excited that it's finally here!! I love when a "bad guy" turns good, and Grayson is a sexy, sweet alpha! Maureen wasn't my favorite, and I don't love the plot device for these two, but I still love this book. All of the action is super awesome, and I really love the overall premise for this whole series. I'd definitely read the previous books before this one because there is a continuing storyline throughout the whole series, and previous main characters are present in this story. The Scorpius syndrome is still a problem for everyone, and both groups need to decide where their allegiance lies. Grayson has quite the reputation, and since he originally kidnapped Maureen, she doesn't quite know what to think of her feelings for Grayson. Sweet, sexy romance and awesome, cool action scenes! Although, I don't know why these tough military guys all go on missions together and leave their territories without much leadership, so they become easy targets! But, I do love when all those alpha guys get together, makes for some fun scenes! I love that there's dual POV's! Love Grayson's POV, and I enjoyed his southern backstory. It super great to see the couples from the previous books, and there's still so much story to be had! The premise for the next book isn't my favorite, but I'm definitely continuing with this series! It's one of my favorites! I listened to the audio version of this story, and the narrator did a great job! He gets really intense during the action and love scenes. He had me smiling at how passionate he sounded. I'd definitely recommend the audio version if you have the chance!

Love, love this book I think Grey is my new favorite but jeez Rebecca makes this so hard her writing is phenomenal. Action, softness, romance and fun with the gang. I love how the story is developing and keeping us waiting for the next book.

Fourth book in series. I do believe this is my favorite in series so far. Pulled me right in from first to last page. We first got introduced to Maureen and Grey in previous book when he kidnapped her and the sparks flew. The story continues to evolve, as the search for the cure to Scorpius remains elusive to those searching. The evil President returns along with his really crazy vice President Lake. The Mercs and Vanguard teams
finally come to an understanding about what to do to protect their people and to try and take out the President and his crazies. Lots of explosive action, great love scenes,as well as a few laughs thrown in. Rebecca really knows how to keep you hooked.

This is an excellent series. A virus has killed most of mankind and those who are left are just trying to survive. Greyson is head of the Mercs and as tough as they come. Jax is head of the Vanguards and is another formidable soldier. At one time Grey kidnaps Maureen to see if there's hope for growing crops. They're attracted to one another and one drunken night they make love. Moe gets returned to the Vanguards and eventually learns she's pregnant. Grey and Moe end up falling in love. Through a series of battles the Mercs and Vanguards end up joining together to fight the evil President and his forces. Exciting and extremely well written.

Book 4 in Rebecca's post apocalyptic series us an action packed read.
Greyson Storm is the leader of the Mercenary's, he is a combination of lethal and sexy. Maureen Shadow is a scientist and Raze Shadows sister.
They both do good in fighting the burning attraction to each other until booze and a concussion happen.
Things are heating up between Vanguard and the Mercs throw in a crazy President and a vice president that is a sociopath and life is turned upside down again.
Storm Gathering is a great read! Action packed with a lot of hotness!

I definitely recommend reading the previous books so you understand exactly what is happening in this book. It could be a stand alone but you would be lost about other connections without reading the previous ones.
This book covers Greyson Storm and Maureen Shadow. Grey is in charge of the Merc's and Maureen is a Biotechnology Engineer that he had kidnapped in a previous book in order to get her brother to do what he needed him to do. In the previous book you could see the tension between them but you never really understood why it was that way. This book explains everything!
I was iffy about whether I would like Grey after reading how he was in the previous books. I thought he came across as just a big giant jerk (putting it nicely!). I am soo happy that I was wrong! Yes, he does things that I don't necessarily agree with but they end up being things that need to be done. And it helps them all in the long run, especially Maureen. And there were times when I wondered whether he was going to do something just to get what he swore was all he wanted. I am so glad that I was wrong! Maureen seemed extremely innocent to me until I got farther in and realized there is much more to her character than that. Yes, she doesn't like violence but she also knows that sometimes it has to be done. That there are circumstances that exist that force their hands. Then you throw them together? It's like dynamite going off! They compliment each other in every way possible. Even while not always agreeing with each other they still manage to make things work.
I loved this story. These characters and this world that has been created are such a great read that it just pulls you in and I know I didn't want to put it down. This book pushed the main story arc even further along and while answering some questions it did raise others in my mind. I can't wait to read the next book and see where it takes us next!

This series just keeps getting better! What an incredible and interesting post apocalyptic world the author has created for us. So many characters to love or hate or both at the same time. It's just so good!! The action, the romance, the sci-fi aspect; I just love it all!! This is my favorite so far! I would love to see a movie based on this series or a series on TV.
Greyson Storm, well he is just everything I hoped he would be and so much more than I thought he was. I just love his back story.
Maureen Shadow, Moe, is such a strong heroine. I love her! She is smart and strong while still being just a little bit vulnerable. She and Grey are perfect for each other. They may have a lot going against them but they are both strong enough, as is their love, to make it through anything and whatever else this new and challenging world throws at them.
Fantastic addition to this series! Bring on Damon's story!

I freaking love this series! Action, excitement and intrigue with passionate and intense against-the-odds romance all set in a dangerous and exciting post-apocalyptic world where the breakout of the Scorpius virus has killed off 99% of the population and the survivors cluster together in gangs in order to survive – fighting off rival gangs for territory and precious resources, while desperately searching for a cure, and working to rebuild civilisation.
Up until now, the books have been primarily set within the Vanguard group in downtown LA, but this book takes us to the Mercenaries – a group of military-like vigilantes who have claimed the beach area of Santa Barbara as their territory and who constantly battle but are also tentatively/sometimes allies of Vanguard.
The leader of the Mercs, Greyson Storm, is ex-Military, strong, enigmatic and ruthless. But we began to see a softer side to him with the introduction of Maureen Shadow (sister of Raze), who he took into his territory with the intention of using her biological science skills to investigate options for growing food… and to further his own secret agenda.
Maureen is an absolute spitfire. Intelligent and brave, she is furious at being dragged into Merc territory and essentially being held captive, and she has no intention of being quiet and compliant. She sasses Grey whenever he attempts to push her around, giving back as good as she gets.
But beneath all of that animosity, a sizzling attraction simmers. Grey and Moe want each other badly, they’re both just too stubborn to admit it, and the sexual tension is awesome! It all comes to a head one drunken night which ends up changing everything for both of them, and takes them, and the story, on a twisted, exciting and unexpected journey that I could not put down.
The action switches between the Vanguard and the Merc territories as the two groups battle and plot together and against each other. Both battling for control of new resources, they are forced to work together for the sake of all of their safety and their futures, and to fight a mutual enemy whose relentless pursuit only adds to the danger. And in the middle of it all are Grey and Maureen. They want each other, and can’t keep away from each other, and God, I love them together! Underneath all of the surface-level hostility they have sensational chemistry, and they are hotter than all hell together. But their emotional connection is also beautifully explored as they spend time together and get to know each other, and begin to open up and truly feel everything that is happening between them. I loved watching their fight to be together despite everything standing between them, and Grey’s alphaness and surprising sweetness towards the woman he is falling so hard for was just gorgeous.
Which, of course, leads to epic fireworks with Maureen’s brother, and resident Vanguard bada**, Raze, comes into the picture. I won’t go into details, but the clashes between the two groups were absolutely fantastic. The dynamics between the characters are awesome, and the shifting relationships between them are wonderfully developed as secrets are revealed, understanding is reached, and enemies become uneasy allies. We get to check in with all of the characters that have featured in the books so far, and I loved every moment of it – seeing how things have changed and grown for them – but it is the scenes with everybody together just bantering and bouncing off each other that I truly loved.
And of course there is a fantastically kicka** climax which had me holding my breath in anticipation, my heart pounding, and revelling in the awesomeness of it all. Seriously epic stuff.
But even with all of that going on, the love story remains a focus. Grey and Maureen’s world is hanging by a thread and they have a lot to go through in order to be together. But time is still given to their personal journeys and the emotional issues that they need to deal with, and that part of the story is really beautifully done, giving us a gorgeous romance that had me swooning madly
I loved this book. The blend of action, suspense, passionate romance, heartfelt emotion and laugh-out-loud humour is wonderfully balanced, and Rebecca Zanetti has once again given us an intense and exciting read that I could not put down. Her world continues to evolve and each book adds so much to the series, further developing the story and making it better and better. I can’t wait for Damon’s book up next!
Absolutely fantastic – 5 stars.
