Loved this book about Simone and Nick . Passion, angst, and hope burn between them as Nick desperately tries to win back Simone's trust and heart. All the while, she is on trial for her life before the witch counsel, someone is falsifying documents, and dragons take a hand. Fast paced story line that drew me in from the start. Can't wait to read more in this series.

Whoa! Talk about exciting. So let's see, you have someone out to get Simone, Nick trying everything to keep her alive with a little help from their friends Moira, Brenna, Conn, Bear, Zane, there are bad witches, dragons, add to that someone is still making Apollo. I though the previous book was packed but Wicked Burn is one wild ride of non-stop action.
Once you get pass the prologue, that will just rip your heart out, everything just gets explosive and keeps going until the end. The story is very fast paced with tons of action and excitement. There's so many twists and unexpected surprises that kept me on my toes. Don’t even get me started with all the secrets people are keeping. Bonus points for throwing in a bunch of characters both old and new to keep everything lively. However, let's be honest, the true stars of this book is Simone and Nick.
Simone and Nick, wow! What you have here is two amazing characters. Nick, Lordy what a man...I mean demon. Hot, sexy, the book starts out on such a low note you can't help but want to love the guy. Such a sacrifice! But now, he's back and the woman he has loved forever is in trouble and needs his help. Not that she wants it. If you like strong women then Simone is your witch. Head of the Coven Nine she is not a witch to screw with. However, someone has accused her of treason, which has a penalty of death. Nick didn't give up so much just to lose her so he's will do anything to keep her safe and alive. And if along the way they get reacquainted and make up for some lost time *Wiggles eyebrows* you won't hear me complaining. I know many readers are not going to be happy with the ending think they only got a HFN instead of a HEA. I for one and thrilled. Still lots of unanswered questions out there begging to be answered. Can't wait to see where the story will take me next.
Just went I think this series has reached as high as it can go in entertaining me, it goes up another rung. At this point, author Rebecca Zanetti has lured me in hook line and sinker and can't do anything wrong as far as I'm concerned. No wait, she can. She can deny me a book for Bear. We've learned a lot about Bear and some of his background but it isn't enough. I need more Bear! After all he's been through, he deserves a HEA. If you're curious to know what I'm talking about that make sure to grab the whole series and start reading. You're gonna love it.
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine.

I've wanted to know their story for quite a while now. And, wow, it was quite some story. Their past history was emotional, painful and made it easier to understand the "hate on" that Simone had about Nickolai. The hostility fairly crackled on the pages.
I really liked BOTH main characters and they both have lived through some tough times. They sure had a lot of people NOT wanting them together. That included things that had to happen; they called it fate. It wasn't safe for them to be together for a long time.
There is plenty of sizzle in this book. Both in lots of action, mystery, betrayals and of course sex. There is also some really great secondary people. People who have both Nick and Simone's backs against some pretty steep attacks. There is also more than one enemy trying to control and bring Simone down. Very well drawn, power hungry, down right evil guys. Oh Peter, you are so going down but it looks like not in this book. I didn't trust that guy from the first time he was introduced. We don't know all of his story but I'm sure that will be coming.
And where the heck is Tori? There are a lot of people asking that question in the book and there is an intense search for her.
There is a H.E.A. for now for the two main characters. But this is a series so there are several more things that have to be dealt with. I want to know how things are going to be concluded so I already have the next book lined up to read. I don't feel disappointed though, because there were a LOT of secrets unveiled in this book. And they really needed to work on their communication when it came to rescuing each other. It was almost funny although it caused tremendous problems for them too.
Overall, another intense, edge of the seat book that I enjoyed. The world building was once again great.

As a young witch, Simone fell in love with the demon Nikolaj Veis. Preparing to propose to Simone, Nick has the house, the ring and is ready to make Simone his….until a prophet tells him he is needed in the demon realm and if he doesn’t leave Simone to take on this responsibility it could lead to the death of many witches, including Simone.
One hundred years later Nick is ready to return to Simone, but she has had her heart broken and is not eager to take another chance with Nick or any other man. Simone is now a powerful witch and one of the Coven Nine, but someone is fabricating evidence to prove she is a traitor and pushing for her execution. Nick is focused on saving Simone’s life and Simone is focused on proving she isn't guilty of what she was accused of doing. She believes in the process until it all falls apart.
There was lots of action, lots of side stories, and the pace of this book was fast! Simone’s brother and several new family members show up in this book. There was political intrigue, new alliances, and the world they live in will never be the same.
A Dark Protectors novella, ‘Taken,’ was included at the end of ‘Wicked Burn.’ This is Talen and Cara’s story after Cara has been cured of the virus that almost killed her. Cara is tired of being coddled and pushes Talen to stop treating her like she is fragile. It includes a look at their children and granddaughter.

This was a FULL ON Octane read, filled with so much action and imagination, I find myself wondering how in the world did Rebecca Zanetti come up with this stuff? Let see, we have plasma fireball throwing witches, motorcycle riding/mind attacking demons, bear shifters, dragon shifters, vampires and so much more. With such a cast, there was never a dull moment.
Simone Brightstone is a witch who sits on The Council of The Coven Nine. The Coven Night is a group of Witches that are in charge of all witches, kind of like a court that trials are held at. Simone has been set up for treason and is scheduled to have a hearing. If found guilty, she will be killed.
Nick Veis has been in love with Simone since the moment he first set eyes on her. He knew she was the one, his mate but at the time, he had to let her go. Now she’s in danger and he will do ANYTHING to keep her safe.
These two SIZZLED the pages! Of course it took quite some time for Simone to let her guard down, after all, Nick hurt her badly when he broke things off with her all those years ago. But Nick had his own plans, she was HIS and there was nothing that will stand in his way.
Then there was also the whole Apollo drug thing that has been brought into all the books in this series. Apollo is a drug made from the mineral planekite that is used in a dart that is shot into witches and humans that is very deadly. Someone is out to kill all of the 9 members of The Coven Nine using these darts. So far, it is still a mystery as to who is behind all this.
I loved that some of the characters from the previous books in the series were added. It’s like a HUGE family affair with everyone diving in to help Simone and Nick no matter what the outcome may bring.
The ending was nail biting and explosive but for me it ended too abruptly. I know that it’s kind of hard to end with a complete HEA because the BIG villain is still unknown and the real danger is still lurking around every corner. I can hardly wait for book 4 to come out, it’s a MUST read for me!!
Warning: Wicked Burn is NOT a standalone. You should read this series in order.

5 - "You've definitely been worth the wait." Stars!
Whilst, I really enjoyed the first two books in the Realm Enforcers series, there was just a little of the Zanetti magic missing from them. Notsomuch for Wicked Burn she put pedal to the metal from the off, and this book was one wild and action packed ride from beginning to end.
Simone Brightston has figured in this series pretty heavily already, and even had the odd cameo in the Dark Protectors series at points, so it was good to finally see this ballsy, take-no-prisoners witch get together with her match, and ultimately her mate.
The woman wore beauty as a shield and wielded it like a knife.
As a leading figure of the Coven Nine Simone has had more than a few issues to deal with recently what with the Planekite attacks on witches across the world, bringing about suffering and in some instances death, whilst trying to investigate that issue, it came to light towards the end of the last book that someone has been building a case, or to put it bluntly has been setting her up, to show that she has been betraying the Witch Nation behind their back for the last however many years. Nikolaj Veis, broke her heart a hundred years ago, now free of the obligations that prevented him from being with her fully then, he isn’t giving up on her, or proving her innocence without a fight.
There is so much going on in this book, it’s like getting on a roller-coaster and spending eight hours going round without getting off, but in such a good way, this book took me back to my Dark Protectors happy place, there is so much revealed, so much going on and so many people involved in it all you just don’t have a chance to take a breath, take your eyes off the page, or stop to take stock of everything you have learned until the very end.
"You’ve had a century to forgive me...
Time’s up."
The other thing that hits jackpot of plot expansions for me, are a few of the secondary characters involved in this one, we met Bear, the leader of the shifters a while back, but more comes to light on him, his past and his lineage in this one, for me the author has hit the mother-load here, there are so many ways this series can now progress, and with so many new characters introduced, it has the potential to go on for just as long as the D.P books did/are doing. I am so happy about that, I love this author’s PnR offerings and I love a nice long, meaty and well developed series, Rebecca Zanetti excels at that and this series is shaping up to be as good as the series it was spawned from.
"My dreams have been filled with you, even in the worst of times. You gave me hope."
Although madly busy plot-wise, the book still focuses on Simone and Nick’s reconnection, and whoa! it was a hot one, I loved this couple together, sass met dominance in a battle of wills to the end, the end usually being them both naked and trading verbal punches.
"What exactly do you want from me..?"
"I want everything… And this time, I’m going to keep it."
You need to read the previous books in this series, you will struggle to understand what is going on otherwise, but it is worth it. So, so worth it. I am sooo bummed that I have to wait until July 2017 for Wicked Kiss, Adam Dunne finally gets his book, I just hope I remember everything that happened in this one, when I finally get to read it!

The Realm Enforcers is back and this time with Simone and Nick. FINALLY!!! If you haven't read the previous books in the series... why not they are action packed, romance driven and hot guys on motorcycles! Okay seriously this spin off of the Dark Protectors series is just as good as the original. Rebecca Zanetti has set the bar high and she just keeps raising it higher with each book. If you haven't you might want to read at least Wicked Edge, it leaves off where this one starts and it gives you a little added detail as to what is happening. In other words you might be a bit lost at the very beginning but it does fill in the blanks if you haven't read Wicked Edge. (So far Wicked Edge is my favorite so yeah read it.)
Simone is the head of the Coven of Nine and she has now been framed. Her enemies have been crafty enough to make it look like she was behind the plankite mines. Simone's family and friends have called one person they know can keep her safe. Nick Veis due to circumstances out of his control (i.e. fate) had to end his relationship with Simone a hundred years ago. But now that everything that said had to be done is done Nick is ready to claim Simone's heart again but first he has to save her from her own people. Simone never forgave Nick for what he did, and she doesn't want his help she is ready to face her charges; she can not deny that there is some physical attraction a lot of sexual attraction. Simone however is once burned twice shy. When several of the Coven of Nine council members fall victim to plankite including Simone's mother, the crap really hits the fan. Simone's Mom calls in reinforcements, the side of the family Simone never knew she had. Nick now that he has Simone and knows there is still something between them isn't going to let her go so easily and will follow her to the ends of the earth to protect her, even risking his own life.
Overall, this is one big Surprise! for Simone and Nick revealing secrets and pasts never before known. One of the many good things about this book you finally see more of Bear, unfortunately, for me the more Bear talked the more he sounded like a teenager rather then a century plus old bear shifter who has previously been strong, silent, and very intimidating. But everything else about this book I loved. It did conclude so not technically a cliffhanger but it did kind of end abruptly and I was taken off guard by it especially since it left soooooooo many unanswered questions.

I almost feel that this book should be titled the one that got away because it's about a couple who have been lost to each other for over a hundred years. Yes, fate stepped in and things kind of went the way they should but at a cost . The cost for Nick was worth it though and now he sees the Demon nation finally at peace with an honest and just leader . Ok now that's done it's well beyond time to finally claim the one female that makes his heart sing and his soul feel complete, Simone the witch he always loved.
Simone has toughened up since being dumped by Nick and her methods might be considered questionable by her peers. What she isn't though is a traitor and someone has set her up and the evidence against her seems pretty damning. Yet there's no way the trumped up charges of supplying a deadly drug will stand up in court , or will they? Simone is in trouble but guess who insists on helping? Nick tore her life apart once and there's no way Simone will allow that to happen again but that hard headed demon seems to have plans of his own!
This book and indeed this whole series is part of the Dark Protectors universe and boy is it exciting. The author has excelled herself here with so much going on and of course many of my favourite characters appearing. I've no wish to give too much away obviously but Nick and Simone are so perfect together. Nick is used to taking charge and strategising but Simone is always cool and confident in her abilities , she "gives good face" as the song goes ! The heat between this couple is palpable but it's the pace of this book that blew me away. Never a dull moment as the action gets ramped up with revelations and unexpected twists. Plus the door is firmly open for more books as this journey is not yet at an end.
If you haven't read the Dark Protectors series that started this you are clearly missing out. Yes this offshoot does work but it's the expansion of that world that is just so good. Which brings me nicely to the novella included here as it takes us right back to the very first book with the mighty Talen and Cara and trust me if you are a fan you won't want to miss it !
Action, romance , intrigue and holy hotness Batman this series just keeps getting better all the time , miss it and you miss out!

Simone and Nick have been separated for 100 years. While Simone moved on and became a extremely successful witch and independent woman, never letting another man get as close to her, Nick spent his time taking over the Demon nation and keeping an eye on Simone. Knowing he would be coming for her as soon as his duty was done.
I really loved this book, I think it might be my favourite in the series so far. The chemistry between Simone and Nick was off the charts and right away you could feel their connection. And they were just so cute together, truly a force to be reckoned with when they put their heads together to take on an enemy. And there was a lot going on in this book, the continuous storyline that runs through all these books made some major advancements. There was never a moment were something wasn't happening. The pace was just right I think. We also get to see all our favourite characters from the other books, and some new characters that I hope get their own story. I can not wait for the next book, Adam and Tori should be a really interesting pair!
And as a bonus there is a great short story at the end of this book about Talen and Cara, which I LOVED. We get a super steamy look into their life after the cure has taken effect. And we also get to see Garret and Logan which is always a delight. Definitely recommend this book and this whole series for anyone looking for a really good paranormal romance, along with her Dark Protectors series.

DIBS!! I call dibs! Demon Nikolai Veis is my newest BBF; he’s all mine, and I won’t share. A hundred years have passed since he gave up the woman he loved for the good of the Realm. Now he is set on keeping the one he gave up safe and letting her know that that she is and always has been his.
The best way I can describe Wicked Burn is: page turning, tingle inducing, action package, binge-reading amazaballs!
Nick is an Alpha to beat all alphas. He will do anything to save his strong-minded, brilliantly talented witch Simone. She, on the other hand, knows how to throw on a face of stone, hide all her insecurities and any sign of weakness. A skill she learned the hard way a hundred years ago when Nick shattered her heart.
Playing her council during trumped up charges will bring these two together in a fight of her life and her heart. During the trial, outside enemies are trying their best to kill them both and anyone who tries to help them.
In order to keep this spoiler free I wont go into too much detail. I will say that Zane, Bear, and a few others all play major rolls in Wicked Burn. Some pretty amazing secrets are revealed and there are a few new couples beginning to spark my interest for books to come.
All in all, another phenomenal red from the queen on PNR!

As we all know, I love me some Rebecca Zanetti’s books. I am always engrossed in every plot and all the characters but Wicked Burn was a little harder for me to get swept away in.
While the beginning starts off with action, Simone and Nick running from the enforcers, I found myself wanting more action than what was present. I didn’t really get hooked until Simone met with the high council to discuss the charges that were brought against her. It felt like this was the time when all of the good secrets started coming forefront making it all more exciting.
I will also say that while I loved Nick, Simone wasn’t my favorite. Maybe it was because of her hard, emotionless personality (which she needed to be a part of the high council) that didn’t sit right with me. It also could be that Nick scorned her in their younger years but it made me feel like she wasn’t all into their relationship and that she didn’t deserve Nick.
However, this story had some crazy, amazing plot twists and all sorts of surprises. Bear showed up and is revealed as a more important character in this series. There are tons of things that we learn that I feel is going to make the future books brilliant.
While Nick and Simone’s story wasn’t my favorite, it was still really good and a part of a great series.

"My heart is yours and always will be. Everything I've done in this life from the good to the truly terrible has been to make the world a better place for you and any children we may have. Everything I am or will ever be belongs solely to you."
HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS MAN?
I wasn't sure about Nick at the beginning, he has been intriguing through the series, but nothing more. Well, color me NOT surprised (this is Zanetti after all) when I fall in love with him. And Simone, who was unbearable in the first Dark Protector books was GREAT, without changing who she had been all along.
Also, the author has a way to surprise me with the relationship between characters. I thought she couldn't do it again after she totally shocked me with Zane's Mom in the last book, but nope, she did it again.
Action packed as usual, old characters appear not as cameo but having a real purpose. Zane was every bit as perfect as I hoped he'd be. And Bear was a great addition. Also, like it is her thing, she messed up the whole world again (so soon after the peace started!) and now I don't know where the witches are going. I am so mad the next one is a year away!
Oh, and let's talk about the bonus. When I realized there was a Talen whole novella at the end, my reaction was pretty much that of Hope:
-Delight glower from her, and she wiggled enthusiastically, patting his chest. "Tayen. Yaaaaaay, Tayen."
Enough said. Talen is and always should be my number one in the Realm.

Rebecca Zanetti has taken us for a Wicked Ride and shown us the Wicked Edge in her Realm Enforcers series, but she's not done. Simone has been on the Coven Nine council for a century and during that time she's done what she thought was right. She may or may not have always followed the rules, and it may or may not be legal, but hey, what's a witch to do? Now she's being framed and her life is on the line with charges of treason.
Nick Veis walked away from his mate once to do the impossible and ensure the safety of demons and witches. He didn't expect to live, and managed to pull off the impossible. Now, he's back for Simone, and will take on the entire witch nation to protect what's his.
Things are quickly spiraling out of control, as Apollo makes it's way to Dublin, the Coven Nine council members are being attacked and Simone is facing a death sentence. Then there's the matter of Bear and Tori being taken as apart of the Coven Nine investigation and being held in Dublin. You won't believe the twists and turns that Zanetti takes with Wicked Burn, but it's worth the trip!

THIS is the book I have been waiting for. The passion, the emotions, the action, the twists and turns, the surprises completely blew my mind. This couple and this story were everything I was hoping for and so much more. Their connection is intense and the chemistry between them sizzles.
Ms. Zanetti has been dropping breadcrumbs about Nick Veis and Simone Brightston from the Dark Protectors series and I was quite disappointed that this series didn't begin with them but then good things come to those who wait!
After a century of bad blood due to a love gone sour, time's up and Nick is done waiting to claim what's his. The timing couldn't have been worse because someone is out to get Simone and has done so quite nicely by framing her for treason and a host of other charges that could cost her her position on the Council of the Coven Nine and her life, but Nick is a master strategist and will do everything in his power to keep Simone safe, even if it means going to war with the witches.
WICKED BURN starts out fast and the action stays at a high tempo all the way to the end. Every word and every action explains something from the past or lays the groundwork for the future and if you blink you'll miss something because everything is important. Everything you thought you knew just got turned on its head. Like we didn't have a ton to digest with vampires, demons and witches, oh my, the plot just got expanded to include more paranormal creatures and the stage has been set for more explosive writing from this author than we've ever seen.
Nick Veis redefines the term 'alpha male' with his uncompromising declarations and that's saying a lot because one thing Ms. Zanetti knows how to do is write a jaw-dropping alpha male.
“Look at it as an adventure, or look at it as something you want, but either way, you will be claimed.”
But he also knows how to melt the heart.
"No woman has ever been loved more than you are right now, Simone."
Every man in Simone's life has disappointed her in some way and she's made herself into an independent, smart, powerful and successful woman. She wields her beauty as a weapon, much as some use a gun or even plasma balls and she matches Nick in every way. She is still the woman he fell in love with but she is more than that. She is a woman whose heart belongs to only one man and even she can't resist Nick's assault on her heart for long.
"I love you, you know," she murmured, her hand now flattened over his heart, which she'd owned for centuries.
I was so excited as I was reading this book that I was quite vocal at every point, especially the final standoff at the end, which was amazing by the way but the ending was too abrupt, something of a cliffhanger and I'm counting the days till the next book comes out but I keep asking myself: can Ms. Zanetti top this and how?
I'll highly recommend starting this series from the beginning because while it can be read as a stand-alone, you'll get more out of the series by starting from the first book. I'll even recommend starting with the Dark Protectors series for the glimpses of Nick and Simone that started it all.

4.5 Stars! This was indeed a Wicked Ride and I enjoyed every minute of this action packed, fast-paced, entertaining and sexy book!
Simone is one of the Council of Nine, a group of witches who are in charge of all other witches. Unfortunately, Simone has been set-up for treason and the coven wants Simone brought in to face a trial where if she is found guilty she will be put to death. Nick Veis is a demon and best friends/family to the demon King. He has always loved Simone but fate had other plans for Nick and he was forced to let her go to ensure the safety/future of not only the demons but for all witches as well. He's done his duty and with Simone in danger he'll do everything in her power to not only keep her safe but convince her she is his and they are meant to be together.
Some of my favorite characters including Zane and Bear play a roll in this book as friends and family try to help Simone and Nick. However, there is another faction that is trying to kill Nick and Simone and this book introduces some new and fascinating twists and characters. As usual, there is a lot of action in this book but enough romance to keep it well balanced.
This one would be a bit harder to read as a stand alone as the story line began in the earlier books and a lot of characters from the earlier books as well as the Dark Protector series play a role in this book. However, you could read this without having read the Dark Protector series.
I was all set to give this book 5 stars until the ending which was rather abrupt. I did however, enjoy the short story of Talen and Cara included at the end. I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in the series to see what happens and I hope we see more of Nick and Simone!
Thanks to Net Galley and the Publisher for gifting me this book in return for a fair review.

Within the first ten minutes of reading Wicked Burn my heart had broken for Nick.. and Simone. He had the cabin, he had the ring. In his mind their future was bright, secure and full of the love they had for each other. One unwelcome visit from a powerful prophetess would change all of that. If things worked well it would only delay Nick’s plans – if things did not go well, then he had loved and protected his witch the best he could. Simone was devastated when Nick broke things off between them. Yet the truth is she might not have risen to the position of power that she now held within the Coven Nine high council if she and Nick had lived out the plans Nick had for them.
A century has passed. One hundred long years in which Nick has moved, manipulated and changed fate until the right leader now heads the demon nation. One hundred years where he had kept watch over his love. Oh, Simone had no knowledge of his presence in her life and that’s the way he wanted it or at least needed it to be. He had been there to watch over and, at time,s to step in and protect the woman he would always love. Ironically, one of those times he stepped in has added fuel to the troubles Simone now finds herself fighting.
Someone is out to destroy Simone. She has been charged with treason and even her seat on the Coven Nine will not protect her. The very last person she expected to roar up next to her on his powerful motorcycle was Nick. Why he was here she did not care, she was not the youthful, trusting young woman of their past – and she did not need Nikolai Veis involved in this mess. The demon had had his chance, now she would rather face what is coming on her own. But Nick has a rescue planned – and she’s getting on that bike come hell or high water, whether she wants to or not.
So begins one of the most riveting, action packed paranormal romances I have read in a while.
Simone is strong, stubborn and powerful. She knows the charges brought up against her are lies (well, for the most part). She has her own plans in place, and running from the guards of the Coven Nine is foolish and most likely futile. Nick is just as stubborn and powerful – so they are well matched in trying to find a resolution to the trouble Simone is in… they go about it in far different ways.
It is so tempting to sit here and talk about this amazing story and these captivating characters for hours. Yet, doing so would give away spoilers that I have no intention of giving away.
There are so many secrets in Simone’s life – some she is aware of, others will come as a total surprise. Throughout the fight to save her life from the ultimate verdict of death should the Coven Nine find her guilty, Nick and Simone will use their brains, powers and legions of friends to discover who is behind this attack on Simone and other members of the Coven Nine.
There will be surprises, new allies and enemies as well. Throughout it all is Simone and Nick’s love for each other. Oh, thee two get on with some extremely sexy times – hey, they’ve been apart for a century. *wink*
Along with new allies, we also come across many old friends. And it was a delight to run into them and catch up a bit on their lives now.
Wicked Burn is not a book that will be easy to put down for coffee breaks. It is filled with magic, political shenanigans, power struggles, danger, lust, love and life or death situations. It is also filled with humor, banter, loyalty, definitely sexual tension and actions, friendships and rearrangements of alliances.
I do need to mention one thing though – Simone and Nick do get back together (not a spoiler, it’s the point of the whole book)… but they get a Happy For Now ending in Wicked Burn. The majority of the events taking place will be brought to a conclusion – yet there are threads woven throughout this entire series that will continue.. So expect that the main characters will find their way back together, but also expect that there are still battles to fight, resolutions to be found and new events will definitely be followed up on. This series isn’t done yet, folks. So expect an amazing story to have a conclusion, but not to totally wrap up just yet.
I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti’s worlds – no matter which of her series I’m currently reading I can expect a world that I can easily step into, lovers who are truly worthy of each other, strong alliances, fierce enemies and… one helluva good time. What more can I possibly ask of an author. My thanks for an amazing ride, Ms Zanetti.

I truly savored this book. Nick and Simone’s book had it all, suspense, mystery, romance, and all kinds of supernatural creatures. It was definitely the best in the series. I’ve been waiting for Simone Brighton’s reckoning, though I had an inkling she was being set up to take the fall as a bad guy. What I didn’t count on was the redemption of Nikolaj Veis. Between his staunch defense of her integrity, his persistence in regaining her love, Nikolaj showed why he was worthy of Simone. I loved everything about this book. I found the novel passionate and the words just moved me. The narrator Brock Thompson was PERFECT for this story. His voice was smooth like butter and it flowed so well with the story.
These two characters are not new if you have read the Dark Protector series. They appear as far back as book 3, Hunted, but this the first time we get the background story as well as their mission as it pertains to the survival of their race. Simone, a witch, was being groomed to take her mother’s seat as one of the Coven Council’s Nine. Nikolaj is the demon advisor who we later learned protected Zane and now we learned why he played both sides of the fence.
Someone has gone through a lot of trouble to frame Simone as the distributor of the mineral planekite, a drug destroying the supernaturals. Now that she is up on charges of treason, Nick is tasked with protecting her until her trial. Old feelings resurface and Nick has an opportunity to regain the love he gave up in order to fulfill his duty to the Zane and the demon realm.
What I loved about this book is that it felt more like a Dark Protector novel than this new Wicked Realm series. I honestly haven’t warmed to these pretentious witches but I loved the vampire and demon interactions. The action was non-stop; the chemistry between Simone and Nikolaj was intense.
“I mated you because I’ve loved you from the first moment I laid eyes upon you a century ago…many soldiers in war wonder if they have a heart…I’ve never wondered …because you are in it and always have been. My heart is yours and always will be. Everything I have done in this life from the good to the truly terrible has been to make the world a better place for you and for any children we may have. Everything I am and will ever be belongs solely to you. No woman has ever been more loved than you are right now Simone.”
That declaration of love was just everything I had been expecting and more. I felt it in my heart. The feeling those words invoke is exactly why I read romance novels. Fervent adoration and love is so sexy and Nikolaj was very sexy. This second chance romance was so enjoyable because you get to see the growth in the characters from their first go-around with love. Both Simone and Nick have honed their abilities, made a mark with their respective group of people and now it’s time to deal with what broke them up. They are adults now and are clear on what they want. Nikolaj goes right in and took no prisoners.
The secondary characters added meat to this novel, specifically Bear. I can’t wait for more stories about him. This story ended with many things unresolved like the true identity of the antagonist, the distributor of deadly drug and Simone’s status with Coven unresolved. I can’t wait to continue the journey with the Realm Enforcers,

I was super happy when I got this copy through NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. This was the first book for my by Rebecca Zanetti, but it won't be my last. I am always hesitant to read a book out of order in a series, because sometimes its just to confusing to figure out who everybody is, but not this time around. Not only is it filled with solid and complex, did I mention hot, characters and with an interesting storyline. It achieved to make me want to get to know the series from the beginning, and since this book also contained an additional novella I am well on my way. Very entertaining with lots of action, suspense and hot romance. Can't wait to see what will happen next.

When I first found out that we would be getting a spin-off for the Dark Protectors series I really hoped that we would start of by getting Simone and Nick's especially because in Marked it was quite obvious they still had feelings for each other especially from Nick's end but while that didn't happen and I was ecstatic to find out that they the third book would be theirs and it was worth the wait.
Simone Brightston is a Coven Nine witch who is getting framed for mining PK, the one thing that could actually harm a witch and for treason. She's also the cousin of Moira (the heroine of Hunted) and to the Dunne's. She while seems like a very tough witch and considerable power she is a softie when it comes to her family and Nick.
Nick (Nikolaj Veis) is a demon who gave up the life he could have had to save the lives so many people as well the birth of some. He is now the oldest living demon in the realm and the advisor to the Demon fractions leader Zane.
Nick and Simone have been secondary characters in the Dark Protectors series and their banter along with Nick's nickname/ endearment for Simone had intrigued me from the first moment we see them together. Now that the war is over and Simone is still single Nick has finally decided to make his move and claim back the woman he loves.
They have chemistry in spades along with a history that ended up breaking young Simone's heart and turned Nick into more hardened warrior who did everything to preserve the future and stop the war. Nick and Simone especially Simone who despite her tough exterior and her giving Nick a hard time never stopped loving him. This is second chance romance where truths are finally revealed with Simone and Nick coming out stronger together at end. It's hard to not to root for a couple who would do anything for each other. The book also had some twists like Simone's shocking parentage and why Nick had broken Simone's heart with timely action and battles to keep the reader interested.
Quibbles: While I really loved the action I really wished we had more of a bit of a downtime with Nick and Simone especially since a part from a few references and short scenes to their past we don't see how they had been together when they were younger. Along with the fact that it was never mentioned what had exactly happened during the time in Marked when Simone was kidnapped by the Demon leader I felt that was almost forgotten about or maybe I guess the author felt it didn't need to be rehashed.
Overall, it was yet another great addition to this series and I'm really looking forward to the next one because of the unanswered questions left over from this and the new thread that could lead so many possibilities in the realm enforces world.

A heart pounding, edge of your seat, nonstop action story full of sizzling romance!
"My heart is yours and always will be… Everything I am or will ever be belongs solely to you."
Simone Brighston has achieved many things in her lifetime as a member of the Coven Nine witch high council, betraying her people will never be one of them. Someone though, has done an incredible job of setting her up and is up for treason charges which could lead to a death sentence if found guilty. Given the severity of the situation, her Realm Enforcer cousins have made arrangements for her to hide out with the most unlikely creature she would ever seek out, Nikolaj Veis, her former lover and the demon that broke her heart a century ago.
Nick Veis had been prepared to be with the woman he loved forever, but fate had other ideas. Sacrificing love in order to save countless lives including that of Simon Brighton, he pushed her away, but now he’s back. He’s fulfilled his duty to his people, he came out alive and now he wants a second chance at being with the only woman he’s ever loved and he won’t take no for an answer. Even though running from everyone who’s after Simone is not his idea of romance, having her wrapped around him while riding his bike is exactly what he wants. Can they figure out who’s framed her or will their evasive maneuvers provoke an all-out war between the different super natural species?
This story was fast from the word go. There was never a dull moment and I was constantly at the edge of my seat with excitement with everything that went on from interesting familial revelations to learning about new species, to all the evidence that was stacked up mile high against Simone, and she and Nick just couldn't seem to get a break while on the run to sort through it, much less figure out the intense attraction that clearly still existed between them.
"No woman has ever been loved more than you are right now, Simone."
Simone grew up without a father but a very strong mother, she’s independent, smart and fierce. Al character traits I like. I also understood that without a male role model and after Nick broke her heart, she wouldn’t allow herself to need anyone, and had a very hard time letting her guard down around the sexy demon even when everything he said was perfect.
“My dreams have been filled with you, even in the worst of times. You gave me hope.” ~ Nick to Simone
After a century of denying his heart, the super b@d@ss adviser to the demon realm is now determined to get his woman back. He had loved her from the moment he set eyes on her and now that he feels he’s free to pursue her again there is nothing he won’t do to protect her and convince her of his love, even if he’s a big overbearing caveman sometimes. But there’s no doubt these two burn up the pages with their incredible attractions.
"Caveman? Oh, no, baby. This is modern man, modern demon... all aboveboard and truthful. I'm not using subterfuge, and I'm not going vampireape on you. I'm calmly, very pointedly, telling you how it's going to be. If there's a threat to you, I'll do whatever it takes to get you to safety."
The entire backdrop for Nick and Simone’s relationship is a fast paced constant of perilous situations. One after another from magical fights to explosive bike chases and eye popping surprises which push the book’s and the overall series’ plot forward in an exciting and addicting way, answering some questions while bringing up new ones.
Having characters from the previous books and some crossovers from other series gave the story and added layer of enjoyment. And there was one scene in particular where forces on just about every front unite to help Simone which gave me excited chills.
Wicked Burn is book #3 in the Realm Enforcers series by Rebecca Zanetti who writes action packed, sizzling romances. Wicked Burn is fast and full of twists. Told from both points of view, having the main couple settled but still lots to resolve. I strongly suggest this book not be read as a standalone.

Nick, a Demon, and Simone, a Witch, were lovers until fate intervened a century ago. On the eve of proposing to Simone, Nick was told by a prophetess that if he didn't follow a certain course of action, Simone would die. To protect her, he broke things off and for the next hundred years worked tirelessly and ruthlessly to bring about the current stability between the various immortals. Vampires, Witches, Demons and Shifters now co-exist relatively peaceably, after intrigue, fighting and ultimately a war that cost many lives. Power struggles among and inside the various factions were often steered by Nick in his fight to get Zane to be head of the Demon Realm, with him as second in command. Now, someone has targeted Simone and accused her of treason, which is punishable by beheading if she is found guilty. After decades of protecting her from the sidelines without her knowledge, Nick isn’t going let all his hard work go to waste. Determined to be part of her life once more, he'll give up his own life before letting her be harmed. Having been devastated by Nick's abrupt dismissal of her years before, Simone is wary (rightfully so) of getting involved with him again. Can Nick convince her that this time he won’t break her heart?
I love a good second chance romance, and Nick has his work cut out for him in having to prove to Simone that he's worth the risk. A ruthless demon, he is determined, strong, protective and willing to do anything to get what he wants. He's sacrificed his own happiness for long enough and he wants Simone back in his life, and his bed. He's not going to give up on her easily, even though she is wary of accepting him back into her life on an intimate level.
Simone is a strong, courageous and passionate woman. She's a witch and has a position that she's worked hard for on the Coven Nine, so to be accused by her peers of treason is a devastating blow. Her mother is the leader of the witches and obviously on Simone's side in the case against her, though she has some secrets which, when revealed, change Simone's beliefs about her past and possible future with Nick. When she and Nick are together though, it's easy to forget that they've ever been apart. Their sex scenes are very steamy, and they definitely have chemistry together. Nick is a demanding lover, but Simone isn't afraid to push back and they are equal partners in the bedroom.
Unfortunately, this novel suffers from an overabundance of characters, right from the start. The focus on the main couple is diluted by the introduction of a lot of characters I assume are there as a kind of “check-in” for readers of the Dark Protectors series. I don’t remember having this problem with the other two books, but here there are suddenly lots of unfamiliar names front and center. Now granted, some of this has to do with Simone's position on the Coven Nine and these are her cousins and friends, but for a newcomer to either series, it is confusing. Fortunately things settle down, though every now and then another name is thrown in that I didn't recognize and made me wish for a glossary of all the characters in all the books to date that are interconnected. I do plan to read the Dark Protectors series because I quite like the world building the author puts into her stories, but it's lengthy and so is my TBR pile.
Similarly, the plot seems to be scattered. The overall story arc of the series deals with a drug called Apollo, which contains the ingredient planekite - a fatal ingredient to humans and more importantly, to witches. Part of the story deals with the treasonous implications of Simone's possible involvement with planekite mines. While the case against her is central to the story, the introduction of yet more new characters and Simone's family and heritage run away with the plotline in an entirely new and unexpected direction. While the intent is to add something fresh and exciting to the novel (it did give me a few eyebrow raising scenes), it seems as though the story is trying to be too many things at once and loses its focus. Simone and Nick get a happy ending, but the plot is left with lots of holes to fill. In the end, Nick's character saves the book as I like him enough to counter the negatives. He proves time and time again to be a worthwhile mate for Simone. Wicked Burn is the weakest entry in the series to date for me, but I still plan to continue the series and hope the next one has a tighter, less convoluted plot.

Well that went about the way I imagined it would! That is to say it was one exciting, fast and furious ride that left me breathless and satisfied. Ever since this pair started simmering in the background of the earlier books, I was chomping at the bit to get their story. So worth it!
This is book three of the Realm Enforcers series which is the welcome spin-off of the Dark Protectors series. This is one that pretty much has to be in order. Sorry, kiddos, no short cuts. Personally, I think the reader has to go back to the very beginning to the Dark Protectors and not just to the beginning of the Realm Enforcers. There is an assumption that the reader is familiar with the broader universe of the stories and the past story arcs and characters who do play large roles in these.
Simone Brightston is in Seattle when she learns that she has been named a traitor to her race and will stand trial for her life before her peers of the Witch nations' Coven Nine. Naturally, she has been set up to take the fall for the group who are really producing the drugs and weapons from the mineral that is deadly to witches. She is confident that justice will prevail, but her cousins and the annoying Nicolaj Veis, her once thought love, don't have her faith that the set up will be revealed before the Coven Nine call for her head. She is forced to accept Nick's presence since he insists on helping and protecting her, but that's all. Nick broke her heart when he walked away and he won't do it again.
Nick has a second chance now that his duty and honor to make sure the war came to a successful outcome as a result of his actions are complete. The need for him to return to his demon race and do the job the foretelling called for required him to protect Simone the only way he could. He was going to have deadly enemies who would use her and break her if they knew she was his weakness. And he would be on a dangerous, one-way mission so he had to walk away and make sure she and everyone else believed she was nothing to him. It cost him greatly. Now, a hardened war-weary male, he wants what he was forced to set aside- the woman who is the other half of his soul. Nick must fight for her and protect her from the enemies coming from more than one direction. And in the end, will her secrets or her enemies take her away or her own stubborn need to protect her heart? Not if this alpha demon warrior can help it.
The action was sizzling and at a heart-pounding pace whether it was the stormy romantic encounters or the intense engagements with their enemies. There is intrigue and mystery to this one and even some courtroom drama paranormal style. I enjoyed the new addition to the Realm Enforcers/Dark Protectors world and Simone's connection to it. All through the book, the reader is left more and more curious about the secrets from Simone's past as it is unveiled.
The characters are the usual cast of characters who are always fun to see. Moira, Brenna, Conn, Bear, Zane, the Coven leaders, and the main players, Simone and Nick all share some good page time. The banter, fight sequences, and camaraderie are great. I liked the addition of the new player near the end and hope he is in more books.
As to the ongoing conspiracy with the distribution of the drugs and use of it to kill witches, that had a small advancement though the set up of Simone was the big conflict of the story behind the romance. The author has revealed small potatoes villains, but the mastermind is still in the shadows moving the chess pieces around against the Realm Enforcers group.
There was a nice, unexpected surprise after the acknowledgements of a bonus novella story that is a crossover between the Dark Protectors and Realm Enforcers series, Talen. I loved that it was a reunion with Talen and Cara, the pair from the first book. They have empty nest and are grandparents, Cara is well finally. Talen and Cara are going on a trip that she relishes as a way to start over and rekindle. Talen reluctantly agrees, but he has a bad feeling that there is danger. And the fun ensued. Thank you, Rebecca, for that fan gift.
So, this was a fantastic installment to the series. I loved this fiery couple who were strong, confident, lethal, and passionate while fighting side by side or rekindling their love. Paranormal Romance fans who like it fast and furious and full of intrigue should give these a try.

In a change of pace, this edition of the Realm Enforcers focuses on not a Dunne brother, but on their cousin, Simone. Simone is a member of the Coven Nine, the ruling body for witches. Simone is in serious trouble as she is being set up on corruption and treason charges. She knows that truth is on her side, but their are political elements that are gunning for her conviction.
Nikolaj Vei is a high counselor and best friend to the Demon King. His is known for his strength and strategic mind. He is the king's best friend and closest counselor. Yet, at the when Simone needs him the most, he is there.
I was poised to love this story for a variety of reasons: 1. It's a second chance story 2. Simone is smart and caring, as well as tough and cunning. I love kick ass heroines. 3. Nikolaj seems to be a good match for her both in brains and brawn and I, therefore, would expect some witting exchanges.
I like the political twists and turns in the story, but for some reason, I didn't fall into the romance between the two characters as much. I used the term "fall into" because I expect to go headlong into the relationship and indulge in the emotions when I read romance, but this coupling felt a little flat. I this source of my disconnect is largely a result of the fact that I have not read the Dark Protectors prequel series. I just don't have the emotional connection and buy in into these characters, so I don't experience the depth of joy at their union. As an exception, I enjoyed book two, Wicked Edge very much. The story didn't seem to require as much Dark Protectors pre-requisite as this one does.
I enjoyed all the secondary characters. They provided comic relief. I will probably finish the series because I do enjoy this author's writing. When it comes to writing action and smexy, Rebecca Zanetti excels.

Well that was one action packed ride!
I basically jumped into the thick of things since I hadn't read the previous books in the series, so you won't be surprised when I tell you there was some confusion when I started reading this book. I'm completely unfamiliar with this world of witches, shifters and demons that Zanetti has created. But fortunately after a couple of chapters I was able to keep up with the story.
You'll notice I used the phrase "keep up" well that's because this story could never be called boring. If it could happen, then it happened in this book. Just non-stop action, fast paced story line which I loved but I will admit to getting a bit overwhelmed at times.
Nick and Simone's connection was pretty intense from the start. And the glimpse I got from their past further intensified the connection. After a century apart from the woman he loves, Nick is ready to take her back. Simone wants nothing to do with him, he broke her heart and damaged her pride after she'd given him everything. So you'd be correct in saying that this is a second chance romance... of the paranormal kind.
Nick is a demon and holds a very important role in the vampire community. Simone is a witch who's role is just as important as Nick's is in her own world. The conflict between them was not so much external bit more because of Simone being on the defensive, not wanting to let Nick back into her life. Understandably.
I loved their dynamic, I enjoyed how growly and dominant yet gentle Nick was. This book had some great sexual tension but at times I felt like it kind of ruined a particularly great scene. I felt like shouting kick some ass and stop the bad guys or get out of harms way and then you can bump uglies ya know. But that's just me.
Like I said this book was action packed and had quite a few twists giving the plot some complexity. I will say that in some instances it did lack momentum, I needed that. You need to get me all riled up before you throw a plot twist at me. All in all this was a great urban fantasy with really strong characters and I'll definitely be looking out for more from this author and this series.

Book Review- Wicked Burn by Rebecca Zanetti
In this Realm Enforcers book, Simone is being charged with treason and The Guard is coming to get her. Nick refuses to let her go again. He is determined to save her. He ends up accompanying her to Ireland for the trial.
Someone has gone to great lengths and time to set her up. It has been in play for years. Simone and Nick have to figure out a way out of this. If she is found guilty she will be executed. As they try to figure things out, another group is trying to take down the Coven Nine with the drug Apollo.
Things go from bad to worse when Simone learns about her father and what he really was. It looks like someone is trying hard to take the witches down. Nick and Simone are doing everything possible to walk away from this mess without starting a war. Of course nothing is ever easy and it blows up in everyone’s face.
I love this series and this book. The reader who has read previous books knows these two have a history. They also have chemistry but Simone comes across as hating his guts. So this story reveals their past relationship. It was fascinating to read what really happened. I love they are back together. Nick is very persistent. Simone is afraid of getting hurt, all real feelings.
The author keeps you on your toes with the Coven Nine trying Simone. It’s official and she can’t run. The situation continually gets worse. Simone ends up with family issues, Coven Nine issues and old enemy issues. She and Nick are constantly battling out of situations with Bear and the Enforcers. This is an excellent addition to the series with excellent characters. I loved reading the book. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Demons, shifters, and witches... Oh my! Well, there certainly was a lot of action in this book. There was both the action sequences of fighting and running and the bedroom action scenes. This was my first book by Rebecca Zanetti. The action scenes were good. The bedroom scenes I wasn't as thrilled with.
I was surprised by how quickly the characters fell back in bed together after being broken up for 100 years. It seemed like some kind of insta-love or insta-lust. And also surprised by how frequently they were in bed together. There's nothing really wrong with that. It's just not really my cup of tea. Especially with one of the characters tending to be on the controlling side of things.
I liked the idea of shifters that can change at will. And this was my first bear shifter story. I liked that there were other kinds of shifters. How the group interacts seemed explained well.
These characters are supposed to be immortals of sorts. And they are trying to hide their existence from the other people on the planet. Frankly, I don't know how they could with chase scenes and the like.
By the time I got to the novella that is included in the book I had a fairly good grasp of what kinds of things to expect from the characters. I actually enjoyed the novella a little more than the novel. Again it was action intense. There were people out to kill or kidnap one of the main characters in the novella named Cara. The reason why isn't fully understood until near the end of the piece.
Overall I give both the novel and novella a rating of 3. I liked them, but for me they weren't great. They are paranormal romances, and hot ones, definitely aimed at adults. Still, they have enjoyable stories overall. If you like your paranormal romances hot, then this is a good book for you. Just read the other 2 in the series first for your best experience.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Simone no longer cared for Nicholai Veis who had broken her heart the century before. What Simone didn’t know was Nick was all ready to give up being a demon soldier and ready to settle down with her. He even had a beautiful ring for her. But then the Prophet Lily came to Nick by the King Of the realm Dage who sat outside as Prophet Lily talked to Nick. The prophet told Nick she had a vision and only Nick had the possibility of stopping a lot of supernaturals from dying including Simone. Suri was in power in the demon world and was truly evil and had to be stopped. Nick’s uncle was a sadist and looked good next to Suri. The first thing Nick did after walking out on Simone was kill his uncle and bring Suri his head. Nick now fulfilled the second in charge position. In present day- a century later- Nick is trying to rescue Simone. Simone has been set up and charges with several counts of treason by the Coven Nine. The Coven Nine ruled over the witch nation. Unknown to her not only is Simone part witch but also part dragon. No one even knew dragons existed. Bear was the head of the Bear shifters nation and also Simone’s brother but only a few knew of this. Bear was furious when he came back while trying to have a couple days to relax. Bear found The Irish Guard surrounding his headquarters and then found out Simone and Nick were forcefully being held there. Then the guard toke Bear , Simone , Nick and Lexi - a human dating Lucas - Bear’s second in command back to Ireland. That was where the Coven Nine was which Simone as well as her mother were part of.
I loved this story . I thought it was excellent. Great plot and great writing . There was witches, dragons, bear shifters, betrayal, passion, unexpected pregnancy, love, a soul being reborn, loyalty. A lot of action and oh yeah romance. What more could you ask for. I loved all the twists and turns in this story and that Nick and Simone went through. I highly recommend.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

WICKED BURN is the third full length installment in Rebecca Zanetti’s adult REALM ENFORCERS paranormal/fantasy romance series- a spin of from her Dark Protectors series. This is demon NIkolaj Veis, and witch Simone Brightston’s story line. WICKED BURN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Many characters cross over between installments and series.
Told from dual third person points of view (Simone and Nick) WICKED BURN focuses on the rekindling of a relationship and Nick’s need to protect Simone from her own kind. One hundred years earlier, Nick had been tasked with ensuring the future safety of one of his own, but in doing so had to push away the only woman he would ever love.
Fast forward to present day wherein Simone Brightston has been charged with numerous offenses by the Witch’s High Council, and Nick is determined to see that the woman he loves goes free. What ensues is the search for the people responsible for the charges against Simone, and the revelation that Simone is much more than a powerful witch.
The relationship between Simone and Nick is one of second chances; a rebuilding of a love destroyed by fate; but a love that has never waivered in all of those years. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative. Nick is determined to claim Simone as his mate.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Simone’s extended family that continues to grow exponentially throughout the story. Bear-the shifter alpha- plays a larger role in Wicked Burn, as we are introduced to some of Bear’s more interesting and remarkable family.
The world building continues to focus on the tepid truce between the species, and the secretive world of the supernatural.
WICKED BURN is an entertaining story with plenty of action and smexy times between our leading couple. The premise is well paced, enjoyable and intriguing; the characters are passionate and intense; the romance is a second chance at a happily ever after.
NOTE: There is a short novella included with the ebook featuring Talen and Cara that ties the Realm Enforcers and the Dark Protectors series together.

Rebecca Zanetti’s bio on the store says she wasn’t finished with the Dark Protectors series, so she created the Realm Enforces series, to continue some of these characters storylines. Thank Goodness for that! Zanetti created a world in the Dark Protectors series that had good Vampires and bad Vampires, a war, some psychics, shifters and witches, OH My! I, along with the rest of the paranormal loving, reader universe ate these books up, and was clamoring for more when the storyline came to its conclusion. So once again I’ll just say it, I am so glad Ms. Zanetti was not finished with this world!
We had read about Simone in previous books, as the ex girlfriend of Vampire leader Dage, and Irish Witch who had been mysteriously investigating a deadly virus that is being used to bring down her people. In past books, we also met Nick, a demon and right hand man to the evil Demon leader, Suri, but who was actually undercover to usurp Suri’s leadership. That job has been accomplished and he is ready to get back to the love of his life, Simone. She is no longer the young ingenue, but an older, wiser, much more powerful witch and she is not as eager to get back together as Nick. But, oh that chemistry! It undermines her resolve, and once she hears why Nick left her many moons ago, she instantly forgives him. However, she is now being tried for being a traitor to her people, and before they can be happy, they must figure out who set her up.
This was a really fun, sexy, well written continuation of the Realm Enforces series, and many of our favorite cast of characters show up to help Simone and Nick out, so in essence, it was a family reunion too. Zanetti introduces a new race into her world, and I hope she explores them more in a future book. I think Wicked Burn is more fun to read if you have read the other books in the series, but I think it can also be read as a stand alone novel, so pick up a copy and enjoy! For those of you that have read every book in both series, there is a bonus novella of a continuation of Talen and Cara’s story. ?

Straight up, I'll admit it was the cover and all the talk surrounding this book that lured me in. Somewhere it suggested this book could be read as a standalone, so I went out on a limb and decided to read it. I have a golden rule regarding reading a series in their intended order…I should have stuck to my rule because there were a few details that made me feel like an outsider looking in!
The story was heavy on detail and as such it was a focused rather than relaxing book to read. Surprisingly, I noticed missing out on the world building essential for paranormal stories that I gather would have occurred within the first book in this series. What did occur was a layered telling of the story, providing new twists and direction for the characters and the story in general. Not unlike a platform game, new levels of the plot continued right up until the end.
There were a couple of anomalies that bothered me.I didn't connect with Nick as a Demon, he was alpha but when it came to Simone he was doting and protective. The other minor point was their need to rely on mobile phones to communicate... it seemed a human trait rather than an immortal shortcoming.
For a couple who were on the run for most of the book, they managed to squeeze in a fair bit of extra personal time! Simone dismissing it as a platonic mutually beneficial exchange whereas Nick saw it as their connection progressing. It worked, but there was so much else going on my mind was set on them coming out of their situation in one piece...a relationship would be a bonus!
The story ends with a 'happy for now' but in their realm, that could mean anything. The numerous twists and turns were such a big feature of their story, I can't imagine reading about them living the quiet life anytime soon. My rating is potentially aligned to not having read any of the Realm Enforcer books before and I imagine if you are a fan of this series some of my struggles may very well be a non-issue.

This is the third book in the spin off series of Rebecca Zanetti.
In this book we get to know the real Simone. For those of us who read Dark Protectors we are not very happy with Simone. Even though she did redeem herself in those books.
But now it's her time to shine, and shine she does!!!!
We finally get to know the truth behind the cold, calculating and ambitious witch and get to know her background that explains a lot of her future movements.
Being tried for treason and murder by the Coven Nine, and suddenly on the run from an unknown enemy that wants her killed she is backed up by the one and only man that has truly ever captured her heart and soul, but is she ready to depend on someone else other than herself, and especially to depend on someone that once broke her to pieces?
Nicholas Veis , full breed demon and the second in comand to the demon nation is tired of sacrificing his happiness for the greater good, he is finally reclaiming what is by all means his!! The only woman that can help him dispelle all the awfull thing he has done in the name of others. But instead of just rekindling and romancing his love he finds himself in the need to protect even with his life the one true love of his life.
It is a fast paced book filled with a lot of adventure, romance, steamy scenes and a whole lot of bitching and bickering between our heroes.
We get to revisit old friends whom we end up loving more and meet new characters that definitely spice up this book.
There is a giant curveball somewhere in the book that has you scratching your head and cheering for the home team!!!
I gave 4 stars because I think there are lot of unanswered questions, and not just as in a cliffhanger, but sort of left in the limbo. I thing and seriously hope that in future books we'll have closure.

Someone is out to take down Simone and there is practically nothing she can do to stop them. Step in Nick, the Demon who has loved her forever and is willing to make an sacrifice to keep her safe from any harm. Between Nick and Brenna, Moira, Conn, Zane and Bear there is so much going on that you are kept on your toes to stay on top of it all. Catch up with some old friends and meet some new. Hang on and enjoy the witch Simone and the Demon Nick's story where they finally have a chance at a fated love if only they can defeat the evil that stands in their path.
Nick's back story will break your heart. There is no way you will not be front and center rooting for him and Simone another strong character filled with determination to do what's right no matter the cost I can't wait to read the first book in the series that I missed, Although it did not affect Wicked Burn, which can be read as a stand-alone. Rebecca Zanetti uses humor, witty dialog and plenty of action to keep readers on their toes and involved in the story. The only problem with that is when the story ends and you find yourself looking for more. My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Wicked Burn was a great way to describe this book. It is action packed from cover to cover. Rebecca Zanetti has an amazing ability to infuse humor throughout. I was sitting on the edge of my chair through most of the book and almost fell off it laughing.
With peace delicately put together between the different factions of immortals, the realm will never been the same after two ex-lovers run across each other. Simone is highly intelligent and ambitious witch. She will not run away from her responsibilities even if that means her death. Nikolaj is a brilliant strategist demon. Nikolaj broke Simone's heart a century ago and she was forever changed. Now in the present day, Simone is being put on trail for treason and Nikolaj will do everything in his power to make sure she doesn't loss her head.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

FANTASTIC, MARVELOUS, BRILLIANT, STUPEFYING...From the the first page to the last page I held on for dear life. I wanted to experience every moment of Nick and Simone's story. I felt my pulse race and heart beat like drums against my ears. I felt the sharp biting wind, with fast descent and the rattling of the rollercoaster as it twisted, turned, and whipped my body to and fro! This story was an exhilarating ride! A non-stop flight of hot passionate sex and action that did not end until the last page. A century of love sacrificed for the greater good, only to still hold the fire that only those who are truly mated can have. Simone, while she had every reason to be upset, could not hold a candle to Nicholai's alpha protectiveness and his love held strong for her and only her. Oh the feels I have for Nicholai -sigh- A perfect read! And the novella that Ms. Zanetti left at the end about Cara & Talen was even better! So glad that we get to revisit their story. The one's that started the Dark Protector series and now with the Realm Enforcers makes this book just beyond awesome. In this book there is so much that I found out about, from Bear to Flynn to Adam and to Victoria! WOW! Mind blown. I cannot wait for Adam's & Tori's story next ! Well done Ms. Zanetti...well done indeed!

This book is fast past and will leave you breathless and wanting more.
Simone is in trouble. Luckily for her she has a kick ass demon that will do anything to make sure that she survives. Nick and never forgotten Simone. Even though he had to send her away a century ago in order to keep her safe.
The Coven Nine has been searching for the manufacturer of Apollo to no avail. Members are still getting targeted and they need to find the culprit fast. Unfortunately for Simone, someone has spent years setting her up to take the fall. Now Nick and her long lost brothers are going to have to start a war in order to save their sister.
Soon players that were hidden have to come out of the shadows if they are going to save Simone and put a stop to whoever is trying to kill all of the witches.
This book was fast paced and amazing. I ended up staying up all night just to read the next chapter. I couldn't get enough. The only reason I didn't give this book a full 5 stars was the abrupt ending. I wasn't expecting a cliff hanger but more a lead into the next book. With the ending so abrupt it made the book a lot less enjoyable than it would have been otherwise.

5 Amazing stars! I was completely entertained by this book! I wish I had learned about this series when the first one came out. Wicked Burn was full of action from page one all the way to the end. This story has Witches, Demons, Vampires and shifters. I loved not only the main characters but all the supporting characters as well. Nick and Simone had such great chemistry. Nick is the typical strong Alpha. He was protective, possessive and was willing to do anything to keep Simone safe whether she agreed or not. Simone was what I love to read about in the female role. She was strong, confident and independent. Everyone gravitated towards her. The interactions between the two and all the side characters had me laughing despite the danger they were all in. I wanted this story to keep going and this is one of those books I would love to see on the big screen.
This is book 3 in the Realm Enforcers series but you can definitely read this as a standalone. If you can start with book 1, then I would recommend just because you will find characters from the first two books in this 3rd installment. That being said, it did not end on a huge cliffhanger, but it also left off the story unfinished.

Wickedly sexy and exciting with a side of humor. I really enjoyed this book and enjoy everything I read by Ms. Zanetti.
This is the story of Nick and Simone. Nick is a demon, second in command of the demon nation, and Simone, a witch on the board of the Coven Nine. . They fell in love a hundred years ago and the day he was going to ask her to be his mate Fate showed up and set him on a different course that had him breaking up with her instead.
A century later his has her on the back of his bike and racing for her life. Literally. What transpires after that is a full throttle ride that assaults your senses and has you holding on as hard as Simone is holding on to Nick, to this book. The question is will they actually be able to find their way back to one another after a century has gone by?
I love a book that you can get lost in and forget what time of day it is, this book is that book.

PS : There's something special at the end for all you Talen and Cara fans! I hadn't read their full story yet but that's my next one.

The beings and politics of Rebecca Zanetti's supernatural world come on full force in the third installment of her Realm Enforcers series, Wicked Burn. With an abundance of high powered turmoil this book was full of momentum. A hero and heroine with an unfinished past are brought together to settle scores and mend their hearts. Strong personalities and even tougher emotions take this story to completion. Ms. Zanetti's imagination and wonderful portrayals take on a life of their own on the pages of her well written work and will leave no question as to her talent!

Take a witch and a demon and a love spurned over 100 years ago--a love that still sizzles!
Nicholai Veis had no choice. The Prophet Lily escorted by the King of the Realm Dage Kayrs foresaw events that required Nicholai to take long term action for the good of the realm that may ensure peace after so many years of war, even if that meant denying his one true love, the witch Simone Brightson.
Shift to today and throw in a few wars along the way, a cesation of the troubles amongst the immortals that could be disrupted by the slightest thing. Add planekite, a drug that's threatening lives, some weird things happening along the way including Simone being forced to flee a trial by the Coven for treason. The penalty if guilty is death. Nicholai is not about to let that happen now that he's so close to reuniting with Simone. Then there's a few very strange relatives, some vampires and shape shifters, a cunning political set up. All in all the mix gives you one fine, wildly erratic, read!

Can you win the back your only love? Simone has found herself in trouble, the witch council has put her on trial for treason even though she is innocent of that. Simone has always helped the demon realm as her only love is a demon and they needed the help & money. Nick is back and he will never leave her again, he lost her once but he is now here to stay he just has to get her to agree.
Simone doesn't want everyone involved as it will cause war between the witches & demon but Nick will not allow her to go t alone.
With the help of her family & friends they will see the evil killed once & for all. There are many secrets that are exposed new family members are found and maybe a chance at a life together between to people that have loved each other forever.
A well written story full of action, laughs and some seriously hot men. Love that all the main characters are there and that we get to meet some new players.

This Simone and Nikolai's story. They have a past and we finally get to find out what it is. This story was full of surprising twist and turns. A lot is going on in this book and sometimes it dragged just a little bit for me. We discover a new species in this book and I'm looking forward to more of them. There is a lot of fighting and action happening and of course hot sex. We get to see some of the Dark Protectors show up and find out how they are all doing. I don't want to give away anything except I so ready for the next book!

Wicked Burn by Rebecca Zanetti has ties to the Dark Protector Series so that makes the Realm Enforcers a much read for me. I have not been disappointed in this series, finding this third book to be a great read. There is a marvelous bonus novella at the end with Talen and Cara. That was just a wonderful unexpected surprise!
Nick and Simone were a couple who had plenty of difficulties in the past which continued in the present. I liked both character even when Simone’s actions to Nick seemed harsh. Her back is against the wall and she has good reason to not trust Nick. Their journey to happily ever after is full of bumps and potholes. I think not suddenly finding it all perfect between these two make the story more genuine. It also made the ending sweeter, if it did feel a little rushed.

I highly recommend this book, seriously Simone was not at all what I expected. Ever since we first met her she has been very stand-offish, a cold hearted bitch really and I had hoped there was a reason behind it but I didn't expect to actually like her, and like her I did. I was firmly in her corner throughout this book and Rebecca certainly pulled out a curveball and blind sided me. Seriously didn't see the revelations or additions coming and I loved that!
I read both Wicked Burn and the Dark Protector novella based on Talen in one sitting. My eyes were dropping but I couldn't physically put it down. I loved how this book brought the link to the Dark Protector books closer, even though so much time has past. It was great catching up with some old favourites. Can't wait for the next one!

Suspense and lots of action kept me reading well into the night. The characters of Nick and Simone (the main ones in this book) both are very strong, determined characters that have a rough start.
With a past that returns it's not always easy to move forward but if anyone can it would be Simone. At least she believes she has moved on. Nick had a hard decision to make and it left him without the love of his life. He did what needed done at the cost of his own happiness, happiness he thought he wouldn't be around to experience.
Now, Simone's life is in danger. Although she doesn't want his help he forces it on her. They both need each other to survive what is to come.
The author moves along at a very swift pace, although not to fast that you don't get to enjoy every written word and interaction between the characters. Since this is not the first in this series you get to the added pleasure of having previous characters through out the story. This is truly an addictive type of series, so be prepared to backtrack if you begin here and if not...well....hold on for another exciting ride and get prepared for even more down the line.
Added bonus novella at the end only makes it so much better!

I really liked Nick, he could be wild, but then humble:
Are you all right?” he asked, his voice a low rumble. She nodded.
“I—” He glanced around the back alley. “Jesus, Simone. I got carried away. In a effing alley.” He sounded so bewildered, she had to bite back a laugh.
“You should probably zip up.”
“Christ.” He released her and quickly zipped his pants, wincing at the end. “I meant for this to happen in a bed,” he mused, slicking his hair back with rain.
Nick can be a dangerous, protective man and damn didn't that rev my engine, “sure I can.” He turned, a deadly man with determination stamped on his hard face. “If you’re in danger, they die.” I really liked this book Nick was a good man.

I gotta say, I have no idea how Lily made it through Wicked Burn without the benefit of having read the first two in the series. I have read them and I struggled. I usually do a refresher reread before starting a new one for series like this but time was against me so I just dove in. This was a mistake since the book just pretty much jumped from the starting gate and never really gave you a chance to get your bearings on who everyone is, and what was going on, and believe you me there was a lot going on.
What really threw me was the fact that even with so much going on, I still kept putting the book down and finding other stuff to do. Usually, when a book is full of twists and turns I’m all in but this just wasn’t the case for Wicked Burn. It took me awhile to figure out what my issue was– I didn’t really get the relationship between Nick and Simone. We are told that Nick and Simone were an item years before and then he broke it off because he was given a choice, save the world by making sure the demon nation ended up with the foretold right leader, or eventually lose Simone and all the other witches. What we didn’t get was the connection between them. How they came to be, what they overcame to get there, how invested they were and how heartbroken they were when Nick ended them. Since there is so much other stuff going on, we also aren’t given any time for Nick and Simone to really work on a new connection. Nick just decides they aren’t over and proceeds to make it so no matter how much Simone protests.
I liked Nick. He was a strong alpha, driven, but also caring and extremely loyal. Simone was harder for me to form an attachment to. I didn’t understand her need to stick around for a trial she knew she couldn’t win. She was unbelievably stubborn and at times made poor decisions that caused more problems than they solved.
I really enjoyed getting to know Bear better and the revelations that came from that were interesting. The new addition of Flynn could make for some interesting story fodder in the future. He kept me off base since I was never sure if I wanted to hug him or kick him.
There was lots of action, politics, mystery and gobs of plot twists to move the overarching series story line forward. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I will continue on. Although I generally like Ms. Zanetti’s books, of the three books in the series, I’ve struggled through two of them. They were decent books, they just didn’t grab hold like I expected.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley.

This book is filled with fast action, betrayal, and second chances at love. Nicholai Veis had to give up his love, Simone Brightson, many years ago and now that he has another chance to be near her, he is not going to give her up. Part of their problem stems from the animosity between their two worlds or realms - demons and witches - and then the vampires and dragons also become involved.
Wicked Burn is the first Realm Enforcers book I've read and I had a little trouble keeping up with the different groups, but I did enjoy the story!

I haven't read much by Rebecca but what I have read-I enjoyed. This was no different. I have not read the first 2 books in the series so was a little concerned that I would be lost in this one. Nope-I loved the characters Simone and Nick-they are both unique and very different individuals. I enjoyed the plot-the story is fast paced with several twists and turns. I was surprised several times. The book did seem to end sort of suddenly..not everything was explained. Not quite a stand alone book but pretty close. Well worth a read and now I need to read the first two books. Happy reading
I think sometimes that I read a different book from other reviewers and this is one of them. Nick and Simone made a great couple but the pace and overdone sex scenes (page filler) stole from my enjoyment.
I have read all the books in this series and loved the previous 2 novels but this one seemed to get right into action and when they were not fighting for their lives they were having sex. Additionally, she plugged a novella into the end of the book to give it a few more pages since the actual novel could have done with about 50% less sex scenes and they became page filler after awhile.
One thing this novel DID do was move the overarching storyline along and I hope it will be wrapped up in the next one since it is getting stale IMHO. The "who is doing this" has been dragged through the dirt in all of these novels and they end up killing off some minor bad guy and you still don't know much more than you did when you started but the romance and action has been a good mix until this book.
In addition to a breathless pace interspersed with sex, we get yet another group introduced that seems to add little but might be important in the next book. My MAIN complaint is that you feel like you have been running through this whole book and suddenly you turn the page and it says "THE END" ....... WTF?
So I rate this as the lowest of the three novels because of the ending more than anything (or lack thereof) but I will march right out and get the next one whenever she writes it because i DO want to find out who is behind all of this mayhem.
Bottom Line: The overarching plot is great but getting tiresome, the sex in the other 2 books was a good mix but in this one was badly overdone, the ending sucked badly IMHO. So 3 Stars it is for a book that could have been closer to 5 with some effort.

I received this ARC by Netgalley for an honest review.
I am new to Rebecca Zanetti's books and this book had me a little lost to start but it got straightened out. This book was great! It was really well written and full of witty dialogue. the characters were interesting and diverse. The world building was very well thought out and equally fascinating. The storyline was also fascinating. The author brings a while new spin to vampires, shifters, demons, and witches. I need to start this series from the beginning because I need to read these other characters stories. I was really glad to get this book because the story turned out so great! can't wait to read more.

I liked the first two books in this series much more than Wicked Burn. I just didn't feel the connection between Simone and Nick. The scene with them having sex in an alley in the rain while on the run? Come on. The author frequently has Simone slip into ungrammatical speech Like "coulda used" or "be able ta". Was that supposed to let us know she was speaking with an Irish accent? Did not work for me.
On the plus side, it does continue the overall story arc from the first two books and all the former characters are back to some degree.
I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!!!! A fantastic read from the get go. Nick Veis a pure daemon and Simone his true love a Witch, finally get together in this fast paced exciting sexy book. Murder, Mayhem, Treason and Dragons woohoo!!!! Wonderful writing from Rebecca Zanetti. It's like you are on the back of Nicks Ducati racing round the streets in Ireland, hanging on for dear life. Finding out that Simone is part Bear , Dragon an witch came as a shock to everyone encluding her. Great story well written. I recommend reading all the books as well as the Realm Protectors. It was great to catch up with Talen and Cara Kayrs in the novella at the end of the book. Hopefully there will be more from the Realm Protectors. It's a 10/10 from me. Just dident want to put it down. It was so good I went out and bought Wicked Ride. YEAH!!!! Sandra Cameron.

Great installment to this series. The Realm Enforcers Series is just as great as the Dark Protectors Series. I love how she is able to bring the characters that we loved in the Dark Protectors series into this series. Nick and Simone are such strong characters. Headstrong and stubborn and still madly in love with each other after a century. Duty and Honor separated them and it is great that they found their way back to each other. I can wait for their baby to show up in the later books. Nothing like the thought of a dragon, demon, witch child to scare all the Realm. Maybe she or he will be the Janie of this series.

We finally get to meet the mysterious Nikolaj Veis and learn about his past with Simone Brightston. And man what a crazy past they each have, together and individually. So many mind-blowing secrets are revealed in this book that I wish it was called Wicked Secrets instead of Wicked Burn ;oD
I'm not going to reveal anything or give any spoilers but oh man, if you are following this series you CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THIS BOOK! GET IT NOW!
I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from NetGalley for voluntary review consideration

Wow! Exciting from beginning to end. I was always annoyed with Simone in the Protector series. She appeared to be bratty. In the Enforcer series I got to know the real Simone. I like her. A lot. Nick was always in the background and I’ve learned why. Great story. Looking forward to reading the final stories in the series. Highly recommend.

I just think that the book had a huge build up and then a kind of lacking ending. I love this author and this series so it is most definitely worth the buy but be prepared for some lose ends just hanging out.

Thrills and chills filled the pages of Wicked Burn, the latest release in the Realm Enforcers Series. Nick, #2 demon, is back to win /steal Simone’s (member of coven of nine, witch) heart after being away 100 years. The chemistry between these two is HOT!!! When it isn’t hot, you better take cover because these two can be explosive.
This second chance romance has enemies bring them together. Simone is under attack. She is being framed for treason that could result in death. She, and the rest of the coven of nine, are being attacked by people armed with darts that can kill. There is no way Nick will leave her to fate. Simone knows she needs his help. Heads will clash. Hearts will collide. Bodies will heat.
One minute I would think they were safe then BOOM the roof collapses, cars crash, doors are damaged and so much more. Get ready to sit on the edge of your seat. You never know what lurks around the corner. Simone is determined to accept sex, and only sex, from Nick. It was always exciting to see who had the ball, (heart) in their court.

I love Rebecca Zanetti's books. Action packed and spell binding. This book lives up to the others. Simone the witch and Nick the demon finally get together after a century. Excellent read and I enthusiastically recommend it.
