I love the Dark Protector series and the wonderful stories Rebecca creates. This book however, is one of my favorites so far. Such great story telling with lots of twists and turns. I can't wait for the next one in the series!!

Matt and his brothers escaped from a lab where they were created. I loved the tv show "Dark Angel" and it had the same premise. They have six weeks to deactivate their kill chips. They need the surgeon from the lab. Planet is a bartender hiding in the town of Charming. Throw in a serial killer and the Commander from the lab, a real psycho, tension all the way through. The brothers all have their baggage, and the romance is "hot"!!! Lost a star because it is a series and we are left hanging until the next.

First of all, if you haven't read book one of this series then you need to start there because these are not stand alones.
The second installment in this series did not disappoint! It did start off slowly and at first I was thinking... where is the action?? The first part of the book focuses mostly on the hot and steamy love affair that quickly develops between Matt and Laney. But, just be patient... there is a reason the love affair comes first! When the action finally started I was completely taken by surprise... and, I was glued to the story until the end.
This is one of those series where it isn't wise to say too much about the content because it would give away spoilers but I will say that I am completely captivated by these engineered soldiers and their story.
They were created by scientists, raised in camps and trained to be the ultimate killing machines. Kindness and compassion is not something they were ever allowed. I love how these guys develop a sense of loyalty to their brothers, how they are drawn to sweetness and kindness. They begin to value these emotions more than the cause for which they were created so they escape in the hopes of finding true freedom. As I said in my review of Forgotten Sins... love and loyalty cannot be engineered. And, when these emotions develop it changes everything for these Alpha males. My favorite part of this series is watching them succumb to the need to protect and be loved by these women who are not only soft, sweet and full of compassion BUT also know how to handle these alphas. There is something very satisfying about a little woman who can bring a man down to his knees with the power of love. I love it...
They are also being hunted by the commander who trained them and are running out of time... the chips that were implanted into their spines are a ticking time bomb. I am on the edge of my seat... I want them to have a happy ending.
This is an ongoing story and we do get a small sneak peak of book three... which I shouldn't have read because now I have to wait for the rest of the story. But, our Nate is about to go on a rebound and that story is gonna' be good!
This is a great series for someone who is looking for Romantic suspense and you have a love for "Protective" alpha males... these guys definitely represent the ultimate male specimen!
This is only the second book that I have read by this author and she is rising in the ranks of my list of favorites. I will be putting more of Zanetti in my to read pile.

The magic Zanetti creates when she puts pen to paper results in my kinda romance. The basis of the Sins Brothers series is one that captivates the reader; it’s fresh, unique and I absolutely love it! If you haven’t read book one - stop now and read it before diving into this one.

Book two finds Matt Dean bleeding in an alley. He’s on a mission to find answers and a source to their survival and this is a hiccup in his plans. Six weeks - it’s what they have left before their death. Landing in a little town called Charmed, Matt has three possible suspects for a doctor on the run from the same government agencies that wants him dead.

Laney wasn’t what I expected as a love interest, but it works. They have palpable connection. It’s fun to watch develop, even though it happens fast. A tad of “insta-love” going on here. Though it’s not bad. I think everything Matt does is surprising to him and finding love definitely is. He learns that Love changes everything.

“For one moment, in one woman, he found home.”

What happens in this book is a bit of a reverse from the last; we get the romance first, and it’s a slow build into the action. When the action hits, however, it’s nonstop! It’s pure Zanetti adrenaline on the page! Also, I was truly surprised when one of the mysteries was solved. I didn’t see that one coming.

Nate and his wicked banter had me grinning ear to ear -and the prologue!? Book three can’t come soon enough.

"Sweet Revenge" is my first go at a Rebecca Zanetti book and I'm on the fence as to whether or not to try another one. I'm especially fond of military/black ops/espionage/thrillers, etc but this one also dips into the sci-fi pool, which isn't on my preferred genre list. That issue aside, here's what I did like. Action aplenty, enough romance to be intriguing but not all encompassing, excellent background and character development, and an intricate plot. What bothered me was the lack of authenticity in some of the terminology. A few examples are; 1) Bullets - anyone familiar with firearms refers to either ammo or shells as in, "How many rounds of ammo do you have left?" 2) 'Copter - chopper, yes; helo, maybe; bird maybe; but not 'copter. 3) ex-marine - former marine yes, never ex-marine. 4) gun - sidearm, revolver, pistol, 9MM, .40 cal, .45, etc. Anyone trained in firearms rarely uses the generic term "gun" except as an alert indicating someone is unexpectedly armed and they yell "GUN!" The devil is in the details and writers should write about what they know. And when venturing into unfamiliar territory, have an early reader who either knows the territory or is knowledgeable enough to "cover your six." Then there are the typos, dropped words and mangled phrases. From Ms Zanetti's bio, I'm guessing most of these are data entry errors and not her writing faux pas. Either way, they are distracting and cause the reader to stumble and my notes show 34 stumbles. Was the copy editor on vacation?

My Review:
This series continues to wow me. I love these Gray brothers....and I need to say right here...please let Jory be alive so that there can be four of these books!!!

The Gray Brothers escaped from the lab where they were created five years ago. Unfortunately they escaped with time bombs in their spines which are just weeks away from killing all of them. As a result, they are trying to track down one of the doctors responsible for the chips and that brings Matt to Charmed, Idaho where they think one of the doctors has fled to and taken over a new life. As part of his cover, Matt goes to work for the local bar and Laney.

Laney has her own past that she's running from and even though everything she's learned tells her not to trust Matt, she does anyway. She realizes very quickly that he's deadly, but senses a kindness in him and doesn't believe he'd ever harm her. In fact, she sees his incredible strength as a positive because it could just help her in the long run too.

The fact is, both of these people are on the run and know that there is an eventual deadline in sight where everything will fall apart. Neither one is looking for or expecting forever. Right now is all they have and they plan to grasp it for the moment.

It was an interesting story. None of the twists caught me by surprise...except for one at the VERY end which will play into book #3, rather than this one. But even though I saw all the twists coming, I still enjoyed reading every single moment of them. I really liked Laney and Matt together. The brothers are awesome, but Matt is the oldest and the most protective of the bunch. A protective alpha....yes, please! His character was awesome and I loved the way that Nate used that deep sense of responsibility to the brothers to keep Matt going. That says a lot about who he is at his core and I loved that about him. And Laney is a fabulous match to him. He's all about family and her dream is to have a family to care about. She's also going to be a terrific addition to the team that this family is becoming. She was just as mentally strong as Matt, even when she couldn't match him physically. She digs in and does what needs to be done and you have to admire that in a heroine.

There was a teaser bit of the next book in this one...Nate...wow, I'm already really intrigued. I cannot wait for it to come out. There is already so much more to that story lingering in the background. It's going to be fun to peel back the truths and realities of what's really going on.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

4.5 stars

I have absolutely no excuses for why it's taken me so long to pick up the second book in the series, especially since I really enjoyed the first book, but at least that means the entire series is available so I can now binge read the remaining books!

This series is about four brothers who were genetically engineered to be super-soldiers. Raised to be perfect weapons they were never given a chance at a proper childhood but they always had each other to rely on and they spent years plotting their escape. They've been on the run for several years now but their youngest brother, Jory, was lost in the escape attempt and they've spent all that time believing he was dead until Shane discovered extra video footage of that night and realised there is a chance he is still alive and but recaptured. Now the brothers have two main goals, one find a way to disable the chips implanted in their spine that will kill them if it doesn't receive a new code within the next six weeks and two, find out exactly what happened to Jory and if he's alive find a way to rescue him.

As the oldest brother Matt has always felt responsible for the others, he is the protector, the one who promised they'd never be alone and that he'd always have their backs. What happened to Jory broke him but it's made him more determined than ever to keep the others safe and that means finding a way to disable the explosives in their necks. He has a lead on a doctor who might have implanted the devices and he will do whatever it takes to track her down and force her to help them. With the Commander's forces drawing ever closer he needs to move fast but he's stopped in his tracks when he meets bar owner Laney. Laney takes pity on him when she realises he's been injured and she ends up offering him a job as a bartender come bouncer which is perfect cover as he tries to find the doctor he needs. The attraction he feels for Laney is a huge distraction though and when he realises she has a serial killer on her tail he knows he has to try and protect her too.

As much as I enjoyed the first book in this series I thought Matt and Laney were a much better couple. All of the Dean brothers are pretty irresistible but Josie got on my nerves a bit in the previous book and that definitely wasn't the same here. Laney is much more independent and quite fierce when she wants to be, no matter how attracted she is to Matt she won't let him walk all over her and she's willing to stand up for herself when she needs to. She has a few dark secrets that are about to catch up with her and land her in a whole new heap of trouble but she owns up to any mistakes she's made and wants to do what she can to put them right. I loved the chemistry between Laney and Matt, the attraction is instant but their relationship never felt rushed even though it all happened fairly quickly.

Sweet Revenge is full of action, there are a lot of different plot threads that all have their own dangers and problems for the couple and that really kept me on my toes while I was reading. I enjoyed the banter between Matt and his brothers and loved the way he was such a protector for everyone he cares about. This book definitely got me fired up about the series again and I can't wait to read Nate and Jory's stories.

Genetically modified sexy soldiers.

Ya, you read that right.

Sounds panty wetting amazing... except that unfortunately for these swoon-worthy specimens their lives have a serious expiry date. Tick tock! It's a race for survival, and love definitely gives you a reason to want to live!

Man, I think I ate this up pretty quick. High on the sexy meter. Supreme Alpha male hero, and the heroine is no wilting flower, which I like. A plot that is hard to resist - our hero on a quest to save his and his brothers' lives, finding love in the process. Gimme Gimme. Another bonus: not as predictable as I thought it would be which gets a big thumbs up for me.

Will definitely make time to continue the series. Highly recommend if you are looking for some great action with a swoon worthy romance.

**Thank you to Netgalley, publisher/author for the copy of the novel for an honest review. I received no compensation, and all opinions are 100% my own.

While I liked this installment I found that it still suffered from an extreme case of predictability. And now I think this clipped sentences writing style just doesn't work for me.
I did like the main twist (even if it was obvious from the beginning).

Where the first book was too fast paced, this one is slow and at times even boring, especially since the whole thing happens over a few days. Once the main mystery of who the doctor is is solved, things move along at a fairly good speed and I enjoyed that a lot more.

My main issue with this one is that we learn nothing new to move the main plot along. They're not any closer to getting the chips out or destroying the organization (that is yet to be named).
It seems that these people are villains just because they like being evil and that's about it. The motivation behind the brothers being chased and even behind the whole genetic engineering super soldiers thing is practically non-existent.
The whodunnit mystery perps were ridiculous! Just ridiculous.
Emery was a redundant character that made no difference to the story.
The way it looks is as if everyone in the world is conspiring against our MCs and, for a trio of super smart super human soldiers, they find them way too easily on a regular basis.

However, Matt saved the book for me.
You actually get inside his head and can relate to him (unlike Shane who was just a beefy one dimensional you're-mine caveman).

But Laney. Man. So, she's on the run from really bad guys, she's done horrible things (even if she was misguided), and her precaution to getting caught is... to change her name from Eleanor to Laney (because that's not at all obvious), open up a bar and... not learn how to protect herself. Man, I'd be a black belt in karate and an sharpshooter if I was running and hiding from the bad guys. I'd teach myself to defend myself. For someone supposedly smart, she was not acting very smart. But of course, why would she need a hero to save her if she could protect herself on her own, right?

Anywhoo, while there was insta-love, I think in context it worked. Everything about these brothers is fast and intense and extreme, so why not love and marriage, too? However, for such a long book, the author could have taken some time to develop their relationship before I-love-yous and marry-mes were said. But okay.

Action scenes and sex scenes were still hard to follow but I've come to realize this is just the author's writing style and if I find myself scratching my head about what just happened, I just move along and forget about it. I don't know if this is a good thing.

The questions at the end of the first book--(view spoiler)--still remains unanswered and I think the author is trying hard to make it a mystery when the answer (yes) is really obvious.

Hopefully Nate's book isn't another "eh" for me. He's probably my favorite character so far in the series and I can't wait to see where his story ends up, and if Audrey is as much of a bitch as they make her out to be (probably not).
I really hope the brothers will find a way to get the chips out and destroy the organization and the commander and live their HEAs.

Anywhoo, another hit/miss for me, but I did finish it and for the most part, I did enjoy it as well (even if this review makes it sound like I didn't). I think fans of the genre will enjoy this series.

Sweet Revenge is the second book in the Sun Brother series, and it’s just as good as the first! I’ll be honest with you and say I read this book every waking moment of the day. Even at work, between checking in patients and taking phone calls, no shame haha! It was literally that good, every twist and turn leaves you wanting more.

The suspense was killing me. The passion and curiosity between Matt and Laney unravels to a love unlike anything either of them have ever known. And all the while, showing emotion and falling in love with someone puts not only your life at risk but the woman he’s grown to love and his brothers that have done nothing to fight for the freedoms and stay below the radar. Escape the threat of the commander and his evil scientist lady friend.

My Thoughts:

Sweet Revenge was an excellent sequel in the Sin Brothers Series. I love how Ms. Zanetti has one major plot line that is woven throughout the entire series, yet adds smaller unique plot lines to each book. It makes each book in the story start off intense, gain momentum, and hold the readers attention from all of the suspense, action, and mystery that each book provides.

In this story, we get the oldest Dean Brother, Matt's story. Time is running out for the Dean Brothers. They each have a chip that was surgically embedded in their spine, and is due to explode after five years, if not reset or removed carefully and correctly. Matt, Nate, and Shane's chip is due to go off and kill them in six weeks. Matt is on a mission to find the surgeon who embedded the chips, so that he can save his brothers. Based off of investigative work done by Shane, the location has been narrowed down to the small town of Charmed, Idaho, with three women that are most likely the surgeon that they are seeking.

When Matt arrives, he meets the beautiful, sassy, and sweet bar owner, Laney Jacobs. He establishes his cover story by becoming a bouncer and bar hand, which also provides him with a small apartment above the bar. As Matt begins his search for the surgeon, he finds himself drawn to Laney. He doesn't need any distractions, but he quickly falls for her and is determined to protect her. You see, a serial killer is on the loose, targeting beautiful and professional women is small sleepy towns. As Matt and Laney begin to fall in love, they wonder if they will survive the constant threat of danger that surrounds them.

The Dean brothers are sexy, strong, loyal, and deadly! These alpha's will be loved by any hot-blooded female! This series seems to be picking up momentum, and getting better with each book. I find myself highly invested in the lives of the Dean Brothers, and I am hopeful that all of them will get their happily ever afters. We still don't know if the youngest Dean Brother, Jory is alive, but there is hope.

My Rating:

Nate's story is next, and from the ending in Sweet Revenge, it promises to be a great one!!! I give, Sweet Revenge, by Rebecca Zanetti, 4.5 Searingly Swoon-Worthy, Adrenaline Filled, Dangerous and Deadly Stars! I could not put this book down. The pages flew by, the plot twists kept my rapt attention, and the ending blew my mind! I am about to begin, Blind Faith, and have high hopes for this next segment in the series.

Matt Dean is tracking a key contact in the quest to secure the safety of himself and his brothers. He finds himself in a small town in Idaho, with a short list of people who could be the person he is looking for.

Laney Jacobs, small town bartender, has a backbone, but she is also hiding secrets and a past that pose a threat to her safety.

Matt was always the protector and the leader. As the oldest, his age made him the likely spokesman when it came to dealing with the commander and taking care of his brothers. The experiences from his childhood carried into adulthood. He still protects those he cares the most for, especially his brothers, at personal cost if necessary.

The prologue, as I’m coming to expect from this series, was hard hitting and emotional in it’s harshness considering it takes place during Matt’s childhood. It both gives a view into how the brothers were raised and how they grew into the men they are today.

Sweet Revenge is filled with great suspense and action scenes. When when I thought I had things figured out I couldn’t help but continue reading late into the night.

I missed having as many scenes with the brothers working together, but when it happened, it was epic. And in the end, the lack of influence from the brothers actually helped Laney and Matt’s individual story.

While I was able to accurately predict a couple of the big revelations that happen later in the story, this was a page turner from start to finish. Fast paced, action packed, and full of suspense, I couldn’t wait to find out who the surgeon was, what was really going on in Charmed, and what new information the Dean brothers would learn about their past. The continued threat of discovery by the Commander kept things moving and added one more aspect of suspense to the story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Due to the fact I loved the first book so much I really was happy to be able to jump right into the second. And especially Matt’s story. I was very interested to see how he ticked in comparison to Shane. And wow, may I just say, several things were different but the sense of honor and family was strong in this book just as it was in the previous book.

I did notice that both Josie and Laney were similar in certain ways, such as their need for safety and insurance, as well as their not so great pasts. But as you get deeper into the books and thus the characters’ heads you discover their differences. It was an amazing journey.

And the plot again kept you jumping, kept you hoping that maybe just maybe, everyone could have their happy ending. You learn more about the enemy of the book and learn just how much you hate him. Believe me, throughout this series I’ve quickly developed more and more feelings towards the brothers as well as the doctor and leader behind their creation.

This book honestly made my heart hurt as I read it. And I think that all of these books are doing the same. It was not only the timer hanging over all the brothers heads that did it but the fact that they’re so against forming connections because of it. That and more glimpses into the past just help you develop more and more feelings towards all the characters involved.

Rebecca Zanetti has created characters that quickly draw you into the book and keep things hopping throughout.

The gray brothers continue their search for their freedom. Time is running out and they must find a way to disable the deadly chip that can kill them. Honed with special abilities, the brothers will use it to their advantage to get what they want. Matt is the oldest of the brothers and Sweet Revenge is his story.

Matt is following a lead to a surgeon who may or may have worked on them during captivity. During his stay in a small town, he will meet Laney, a bar owner and will work for her. Simple enough and a good cover while he trys to find his surgeon but nothing in this town is what it seems. There are a lot of secrets and definitely lots of trouble.

Matt is the oldest of the brothers and his persona showed that. Ms. Zanetti revealed all his feelings about his brothers and how he took care of them from the beginning. My heart just broke for him. These brothers did plenty of bad things to survive. Because he was the oldest you can also tell the different attitude. Matt is more serious and definitely more intense compared to Shane from Forgotten Sins. There were less jokes and he wasn’t as playful. But he is just as hot!!!

Matt and Laney is a scorching hot couple. I love that they couldn’t get enough of each other. They first meet outside her bar and I found it hilarious. It’s not your typical meet and greet that’s for sure. Laney attempted to help Matt as he was injured and the sight of blood made her faint. It was actually quiet cute. I think her vulnerability but trying to be tough persona was the big attraction for Matt. They were such opposites. But what I love the most is that Matt, new what he wanted and he was not shy telling Laney exactly how he felt. Matt is certainly the most intense of the brothers. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy is certain scene where they did the “deed” under a stressful situation. I know there are some correlation to brain function/chemicals that heightens feelings of lust and love and I understand that. However, it’s not my favorite scenes and I can’t shake the anxiety of having someone come in and attempt murder while they are in them middle of “smexing”. I keep wanting to interrupt to tell them the bad guys are coming, the bad guys are coming!!! This doesn’t usually bother me as much but for some reason I couldn’t shake of the feeling. I know it’s a little silly. Other than that, Sweet Revenge was an enjoyable read. It was action packed and the mystery of who, where and why was quite exciting. The Gray brother’s quest is not over yet. Nate’s story is up and I’m hoping we find out more about Jory, their missing brother.

When Matt Dean landed in Charmed, Idaho looking for the Doctor to help with his and his brothers' life saving medical needs, he never anticipated bar owner, Lacey Jacobs. Next thing he knows his cover involves being her temporary bouncer and living across from her. And soon she is challenging him and fascinating him. She is tough, spunky, and intelligent. She also has her own past secrets and danger lurking around her. He is strong, protective, possessive, and sexy. Deep down, he wants a connection but is afraid of loss or what the future holds. They have chemistry and an attraction they want to deny, but can't.

Matt is used to being the oldest and protector. He soon finds he wants to protect her as well. And she loves the fact that he makes her finally feel safe. But will her problems distract him from helping his brothers who are counting on him? And when all of their secrets are out, will it bring them closer or tear them apart?

This installment also had several story lines going on at once and it was interested to try to see how it all fit together. There were secrets, hidden agendas, and dangerous happenings. The brothers are all still trying to complete their mission, avoid those out to get them, and Matt is also involved in all of the drama surrounding the town of Charmed. It was fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, and steamy with twists and surprises. I love how each of the brothers' stories build on each other. There bond is strong and they are willing to fight for love and family. I can't wait for Nate's story.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I bought this book because I received book 3 free from Netgalley and I couldn't read that without reading the first two, right? So I purchased it sight unseen without looking at any reviews or ratings and just dug right in. It's been the best purchase in a while. With book 3 being free from netgalley, book 2 being under 3 bucks on the store, and the first book being on sale for less than 6 bucks, this was the best 10 bucks (not even) that I've spent on books in awhile.

First of all, for those that have read my reviews, I absolutely love and adore all things military. It is definitely my favorite genre. In my review of the first book, I didn't go into much detail because I didn't want to spoil anything, but now, if you've read the first book. You will already know this. If you haven't - you may not want to read much further...

The Dean brothers are supersoldiers engineered to be unstoppable. The biggest mistake the Commander who created them made, however, was in keeping the brothers together because they only developed loyalty towards one thing - each other. Besides my love for the military, I love brotherly love and camaraderie. This book has that in spades. Loyalty, duty, and honor are ingrained in me from my military days, and this book captures that so well. Particularly - I love their family motto "Never Alone" and their matching "Freedom" tattoos. Because tattoos - yum, right?

Matt Dean is looking for the mysterious "surgeon" who may be able to help him remove the deadly chips nested in his and his brothers' spines that are designed to sever their spines and kill them if they don't return to the commander. Matt is the oldest of the Dean brothers and he is the one that has sacrificed the most of himself for his brothers. He has trained them ruthlessly, above and beyond their training in the compound to make sure they don't fail out and get separated. Nothing is more important than staying together. His search for the surgeon takes him to Charming where he meets the gorgeous Laney

Laney is a good character. She is kind and smart and a good match for Matt. The women in this series are strong while retaining their femininity. Their personalities are likable and I enjoy reading the match-ups so far. I still am definitely reading this series for more of the Dean brothers though. Another 5 star read for me in this series.

I'll admit it. I'm now addicted to Rebecca Zanetti's Sins Brothers series. I read the first book in the series, Forgotten Sins, and with its mix of contemporary romantic suspense with a dash of paranormal super soldiers, I was hooked. Happily you don't have to wait any longer to have your next fix as book two in the series, Sweet Revenge, is now available.

Who wouldn't be love a series that features three awesome, hunky, hot, sexy, super-alpha heroes - who just happen to be brothers (and I keep hoping that the fourth brother will turn up alive sometime soon as well). The first book introduced us to these genetically engineered super soldiers who have hearts of gold as they try to track down the answers to a time bomb implanted near their spines as well as search out their missing youngest brother - who it seems may have been killed.

Their enemy? The commander who raised them along with a doctor from hell - as well as other super soldiers who are still loyal to the "dark side." The first book was one that I couldn't put down and felt my adrenaline spiking towards the end of this fabulous page-turner. So, let me tell you, my expectations for book two were extremely high.

Well Rebecca Zanetti met my expectations and raised me. I loved the way she introduced Matt and Laney and how she kept us on the edge of our proverbial seats between a serial killer, the search for the missing surgeon - who may or may not have answers for the brothers, and their continued avoidance of the commander and his followers.

In addition, there are some fabulous sexy scenes between Laney and Matt, whose heat seemed almost to sizzle my Kindle! I loved how Zanetti's characters reveal themselves to the reader little by little. Both Matt and Laney have major trust issues - and their story is truly compelling.

So five stars for this newest series entry and I can't wait till book three, Blind Faith, will be available in May.

I was an avid fan of this series after reading book 1, and that has firmly been cemented after reading Sweet Revenge. This author really knows how to write an action-packed romance with plenty of suspense and plenty of action, in and out of the bedroom. I just love these brothers and as their story keeps unfolding, I am becoming more and more invested in their survival and, hopefully their happy endings.

Matt is the eldest brother, the 'protector' of the family, the one who always stood up for his brothers and took the brunt of the punishment dished out by the Commander, all to keep them alive and together. His loyalty to his family is unquestioned, only too willing to sacrifice himself so that those he loves can live. He is supremely alpha, the ultimate soldier, demanding and able to take charge and keep everyone focused, always upholding their family oath of 'never alone'. He also has a vulnerable, gentler side and this only confirmed my belief that an alpha man who shows his vulnerability and says what is in his heart, makes him one of the most attractive males in existence. But this man carries his own fair share of guilt about his younger brother Jory, and the quest for answers and ultimately revenge is what drives him day and night. If you can't tell already, I loved Matt for all of the above and then some. These brothers have captured a piece of my heart with their history and the way they love so hard and so completely.

Now, as for Laney. She is living a seemingly quiet life in a little town called Charmed, hoping with each day that she is moving further and further away from her history and the secrets she is keeping. She is feisty, sassy, independent and strong. Her gentle and caring nature has endeared her to the other inhabitants of the town, and she feels she finally has some semblance of the family she missed out on as a child. Laney is a character that you can easily relate to, and when her back story comes out, she is only made more endearing to the reader. I loved her strength of character, the way she fought for those she loved, her willingness to show her own vulnerability when she connects with Matt, and her total bad-ass actions in the last part of the book. She really won me over.

As eluded to in the synopsis, Laney is hiding from her own demons, ones that are connected to Matt in the most deadly of ways, but the attraction between them is too hard to ignore. Their sexual chemistry heated up my reader, their steamy love scenes amongst some of my favourites and I loved the way they communicated and connected with each other. They were flirty and playful, hot and sexy, sweet and funny, intense and passionate.

Once again this author has delivered and ticked all the boxes that I look for in a romantic suspense book. The action scenes had me on the edge of my seat, with heart pounding twists and turns, full of mystery and intrigue. This book flowed effortlessly from Forgotten Sins and there was no need to go back and refresh my memory. The continuation of the overall story gave us more of the brothers past and more of what is to come. Shane, Nate and Josie made their appearances again which I loved and I cannot wait to read more about this family.

Yes, oh, Yes I loved this book. It's actually book 2 in a series, but I didn't know that at the time. What grabbed my attention was the cover. A shirtless guy with a gun? No brainer. I had to read this book.

After getting over the initial draw of the cover (it's nice, isn't it?) I was pulled in by the story. It really is a great story. It has enticing characters, action (both in and out of the bedroom), and a story line that is intriguing.

When I was little I watched a show called The Six Million Dollar Man. This was a man that basically had robotic strength from surgeries done by the government to put his body back together. That's what I was thinking of as I read this book. Matt Dean had been conceived the unconventional way with one purpose in mind. To be the top of the line, unbeatable military soldier. Everything about him was on purpose. It was like building a human from a specific model. Here we have a man, Matt Dean, that is stronger than the average man. His hearing is unbelievable and has ice cold feelings. He's got one mission and nothing is going to stop him because when it comes to his brothers everything else doesn't matter. There's a time clock ticking and if it's not turned off it can blow up in their faces, literally.

Matt Dean seems all hard core but like every other man in romance books it takes one special lady to bring out the loving side. That is where Laney comes in. She's a perfect match for Matt Dean. She's tough, loving, and just as lost as Matt Dean is, when it comes to their emotions. It's an action packed sexy read.

I read this thinking it was a stand alone. It's not, and that just makes me so happy. When this book was done I wanted more. Like I said, Matt Dean has brothers. The first book, which I haven't read yet, has Shane. I did read the third book that features Nate. I'll be reviewing that one next. There's so much to this plot that it just twists, turns, and thickens as each page is turned. Just when I think I have things figured out I am put in my place and moved along for a wild ride.

I've quickly become a fan of this series. What's not to like? Sexy men...check. Going against a threat...check. Finding love even though not looking for it...check. Keeping the reader on the edge of their seats...check. It's got it all and I want more. I'm just greedy like that.

The second book in the Sin Brothers series really gripped me and I believe I finished this one rather quickly... Less than 24 hrs... Matt is a big strong sweet alpha male who falls hard for Laney. What they both don't know about each other could tear them apart or bring them together.... They fall hard and fast as it seems is the way of the Dean Brothers.

These two really have a lot of mystery and intrigue to get through in Sweet Revenge. It keeps you on your toes with the mystery. Who can you trust? That is the question... Read Sweet Revenge and find out if Matt gets his Woman.... It truly was a wonderful continuation of Forgotten Sins the first book in the Sin Brothers series. Highly recommended even if you don't like Military style romances... It's not what you think...

She is willing to help him and his brothers find a way for them to live. He knows no matter what he will give his life for his brothers and now this woman that got under his skin. Can he trust her with his brothers, with his heart?

Wow I could not believe the turn of events that this book had. I loved the first book in this series and I have to say that I love the second book even more. Sweet Revenge is the second installment in the Sin Brothers series and this one has to do with the oldest Dean brother. He is the one that was tough on them when they were smaller and at times hated him but he made sure that they survived. He was there for them but something happened to their youngest brother and now the guilt is eating him up alive. Could his youngest brother, Jory, be alive or the video that they saw of him being shot be true he is dead? Could he find the surgeon that implanted them with the chip that will be ending their life in 5 weeks and deactivate them so they could have a chance of happiness at love?

Matt Dean is going to find the woman that implanted the chips into him and his brothers, time is almost up. When he arrives in Charm, Idaho after running for his life he never thought that he would end up with a beautiful charming woman. There are three possible women and Shane has sent him the information he needs now it's time to investigate. Something is happening in this town, there are murders happening and he is under suspension. They already interrogated him and worst of all they want his DNA. Matt was so distracted that the Sheriff actually took a picture of him and threatened he would distribute it to all the authorities if he left town.

Laney Jacobs is a bar owner and she is in need of help before the motorcycle rally comes into town. When a good looking, handsome man shows up at her bar she should have never let him in. Only that when she saw him hurt she couldn't help it, but the sight of blood actually makes her faint. When she goes ahead and offers him the job she had no idea that they would end up in bed together. The chemistry was there from the moment that they laid eyes on each other but come on he was extremely bossy. The more time that they spent together the more that she was falling for him and she had told him a secret that she had never told anyone. Only one day after amazing love making something happened, she new that it was time to go far, far away.

Matt knew that he shouldn't get involved with Laney he was on a mission but she smelled good and something in his chest made him ache with the thought of leaving her. When he found out that she had been receiving letters he knew he needed to protect her. Matt had already investigated two of the three women and there was one woman that had hid her true identity. Only that he should have looked deeper into Laney's background because her secrets were bad. When her secret comes to light what will Matt do, will he suppress his feelings for her. Will Matt be able to protect her from the Commander because he is one step ahead of them?

Sweet Revenge was an extremely fabulous read that had action, suspense, romance and romance. I could not believe that Ms. Zanetti was able to capture my attention so quickly with her amazing writing style. The pace of this read was perfect, it had everything that an action packed story should have. You have people protecting the people that they love; you have an alpha male that will do anything for the woman he loves. The characters were well developed. The scenes in this story were very descriptive which I loved, it felt as if I was in the story. The emotions that the characters were feeling I know that I felt them as they were happening. Then of course there is the sexual chemistry between Laney and Matt and that was smoking HOT. I could not believe the amount of stamina that these Dean brothers have and the amount of passion that these two characters had. I'm surprised that my kindle didn't go up in flames.

This is a story that any reader will love and especially if you love a fast paced, explosive storyline. If you have not read, Forgotten Sins then you really need to read that so you can better understand the storyline. This is a captivating read that will have you at the edge of your seat trying to figure out if maybe Jory is alive and will they be able to deactivate the chips that they have near their vertebrae. I can't wait for Nathan's story next.

How did I miss this series?

Although this is book two of Zanetti's Sins Brothers series, you will not be lost with the story ARC.

Rebecca Zanetti gives the reader everything they need to know to play catch up--giving you a flashback as three young boys struggle to stay together while existing in a secret "world" controlled by a madman, named The Commander.

The Commander is in charge of the boys who have been genetically engineered to fight, but his direction is colored with corruption. And the Gray brothers--Matt, Nate, Shane, and Jory--will do everything to stay together and to gain their freedom from the Commander.

Matt, Nate, and Shane are brothers who will fight for their freedom and stand together, "never alone" as they try to find the surgeon responsible for implanting a deadly chip along their spines. A chip that has a six weeks time limit--and if not removed, will kill all three.

Once free, the brothers are still hiding as they search for the female doctor responsible for implanting a deadly chip along their spines. A chip that has a six weeks time limit--and if not removed, will kill them.

In Sweet Revenge, their search has lead Matt to Charmed, Idaho, where they suspect the female surgeon is hiding. Although injured, Matt stumbles in this sleepy town and onto the doorstep of Laney Jacobs.

Laney has her own secrets. And when Matt applies for the temp job as bouncer at her bar, she's left reluctantly hiring the sexy stranger.

Zanetti writes a sizzling connection between Matt and Laney and gives the reader an action-packed plot with a curvy twist. Her heroes are fierce, loyal, and kick-ass baddies who have a huge heart. Hard to not fall for any of the Gray brothers. There is witty banter between the brothers, but underneath it all, their motto of "never alone" proves just how far they will go to protect one another.

Sweet Revenge has it all--a gripping romantic suspense, a sexy read, and a captivating hero. I cannot wait to read more about the Sins Brothers, with the first book, Forgotten Sins, and the upcoming release of Blind Faith.

The Dean brothers’ story continues in Sweet Revenge, the second book of the Sin Brothers series. Sweet Revenge was romantic suspense at its best. I absolutely loved it! It had a totally swoon worthy, damaged, alpha hero; a smart and sassy heroine; and enough chemistry between the two to start an inferno. The sexy times were extremely hot with Matt being as bossy in bed as he was out of it ~fans self~. Matt was all kinds of hot and really pushed my buttons. He is my favorite Dean brother by far. In addition to being unbelievably sexy, he also had an extremely gentle, sweet, protective side. There was nothing he wouldn't do for Laney and his brothers, including giving up his life to save theirs. He was so much more than the killing machine he thought he was and we saw that through his interactions with Laney and his brothers. I also loved the banter between the brothers. Their bond was such a strong one and was evident in all they did and said.

The suspense part of the story was fantastic as well. The Dean brothers continued to search for the truth about their youngest brother, Jory, and for the answer to how to deactivate the chips implanted in their backs. The story was gripping and had me on the edge of my seat numerous times! There were moments of sheer panic and lots of twists and turns that really kept me engaged. I honestly have not read a romantic suspense in a long time that captivated my attention as much as Sweet Revenge did. And the suspense portion of the story has not been resolved yet. If anything, we were left with even more questions at the end of Sweet Revenge. I need the next book like right now! I need to know what happened to Jory. He better be alive dammit! And I need the back story of Audrey and Nate. And the Dean brothers need to find the code to deactivate those chips so they can finally live normal, happy lives. And the Commander must die an ugly, painful death at the hands of the Dean Brothers! Are you listening Ms. Zanetti? =)

Sweet Revenge is a must read for any romantic suspense fans. I highly recommend this series. What are you waiting for? Go read it already!

Warning: This book is part of a series and must be read in order. The suspense portion of the story is not resolved at the end of each book, but is carried over into the following book(s). Do not let that keep you from reading this series! It is fantastic!

One of the things I love about romance books is how you can pick whatever kind of hero matches your mood or sparks your interest. The Gray brothers, named for their matching storm-cloud gray eyes, are definitely not your average every day guys, even for soldiers. They were trained since birth to kill, track, and work undercover, and are gifted with heightened senses: hearing, precognition, instinctively knowing the truth from a lie. It generally doesn't go over too well with your employers when you blow up their laboratories and training facilities and make off with their expensive property, especially when said property is four badass world-class killers with a conscience determined to right the wrongs done to them.

Because the characters are capable of so much more, physically and mentally, than normal people, the action sequences and plot arc of Sweet Revenge are all deliciously amped up. The mystery is deep enough to avoid being transparent and predictable but isn't so complicated you need a flow chart to map it out. Which is great, because while I want to be challenged a little intellectually by the books I read, that's not what I'm here for... ya know? *wink* Speaking of, the chemistry between Matt and Laney is superb and his presence is palpable.

Matt dominates every scene he's in, and not just in that I'm-an-alpha-dog-hear-me-roar way (although there's some of that too, for you alpha lovers). Laney holds her own pretty well against the overwhelming force of his personality, and she's definitely got spunk and determination.

We get more involvement with the other two surviving brothers (Nate and Shane) and even a few scenes from Nate's perspective, giving us a teasing glimpse of what it will be like to be in his head whenever it's his turn to fall madly in love. I really like this series and can't wait to see where the storyline goes with the missing brother! Kudos to Ms. Zanetti on another fine Sins Brothers installment, definitely a series to watch!

This book was a wonderful mix of hot and suspense. Shane's story was good but Matt absolutely melted me. Matt was a completely yummy dominant alpha protector and oh, the things that came out of that mouth! His story starts a week or so after Forgotten Sins ends as Matt is searching for the doctor who can save the lives of his family. For years, Matt has held the role of commanding officer, father figure, and protector to his 3 younger brothers after he realized at an early age what it would take to keep them alive, and he feels responsible for the likely death of their missing youngest brother. Failure in keeping his remaining 2 brothers alive is not an option for him.

After being attacked in Texas, he managed to make it to his destination of Charmed, Idaho and is trying to stop the bleeding from multiple stab wounds in an alley. Enter Laney, the owner of the bar he is currently hiding behind- she offers to help him and promptly passes out from the sight of blood when Matt takes his shirt off. Hmm, not sure if that is due to the hotness that is Matt Dean or just from the sight of blood!

As Matt races to find a way to save his brothers and himself, he finds that he is inexplicably drawn to the petite woman who fires his blood and offered her help to him with no expectations in return. Then he is drawn into the spotlight of the local law enforcement officials when murders start occurring at the same time he arrives in town. No one and nothing in this town is what they appear to be on the surface.

When things heat up, they seriously heat up both between Matt and Laney as well as with the situation surrounding them. The action takes off around the halfway point and doesn't let up until the final page. Through it all, Matt struggles with the overwhelming need to continue protecting his brothers as he has his whole life while he wonders what to do about the unprecedented feelings he is experiencing for Laney. He knows in his world, happy doesn't exist for long and he may only have weeks to live. Shane and Nate try to reinforce the urgency of the situation thinking Matt is being unnecessarily distracted for the first time ever, although Shane is a little more supportive given his situation.

I loved this book and I am anxiously awaiting Nate's part of story coming in a few months called Blind Faith. Will they find the truth about their missing brother Jory and find a way to beat the looming deadline of the ticking time bombs in their backs? I certainly hope so and can't wait to see what happens next!

Shane, Matt and Nate are back, and the clock is still ticking. The chips embedded in their spines will detonate in six weeks if they can't disable or remove them, and Matt is hot on the heels of the surgeon he believes implanted them. The trail has led him to the quiet town of Charmed, and the lovely bar owner definitely has him charmed. Falling for his boss who has secrets of her own puts him off his game, until her life is threatened and his protective instincts take over. But will he still feel protective and smitten once he discovers what she's been hiding?

I loved Matt and Laney and their somewhat bumpy road down romance lane. I definitely enjoyed their story more than Shane and Josie's. Even though Laney knew that her mysterious and handsome employee and temporary tenant could wreck havoc on her life and heart, she couldn't resist him. Not that she really tried which made their interaction very sexy and endearing. I sympathized with her and her desire to be wanted and loved. To connect with someone who liked her and wanted to protect her. Aside from being sweet and compassionate, she was also independent and (hallelujah!) not a drama queen. I thoroughly enjoyed the absence of self pity or a low self esteem. She accepted the consequences of getting involved with Matt without feelings of inadequacy or fearing rejection, and she didn't run from her evolving feelings. I do like when characters are mature enough to lay the cards on the table and see where the chips fall.

Matt was so sexy, with his slightly dominant nature, his devotion to his brothers and sister-in-law, but also caring about people in general. In case you haven't read the first book, Matt and his brothers were genetically engineered and raised by the whack jobs who created them. Trained in all forms of combat since childhood, these (now) men have gone through hell until their escape a few years prior. They're not emotionally stunted or incapable of love. In fact they have an abundance of it, for each other. When they fall, they fall hard and fast. The women who manage to capture their hearts make them whole and give them even more of a reason to fight and to live. I kind of love the thread that runs through this story of finding love and committing to another person even though they may not have much longer to live. It's just one of those things, like, “Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.” (From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850).

The story had a great pacing and a nice balance of romance versus action. And there is no shortage of action. The love scenes were all sizzling hot (fans self). I also like the few flashbacks to the times the boys were in (captivity) training. If you're new to the series, I think the flashbacks will help you understand the heroes without having read the first book. The writing is really good and all the characters are fleshed out, even down to the villains. They were so depraved, I wanted to rip them out of the pages and stuff them in the garbage disposal. I'm not sure why Laney bothered to learn a little self defense from Matt since the three times she was attacked, she ended up not being able to defend herself. But that's just a very minor complaint or observation. This series continues to grow on me, and the teaser for Nate's story at the end already has me salivating for more.

The bottom line: Pick up this action-packed book and fall in love with the heroes as they wage war with a ruthless enemy in an attempt to save their lives, find their presumably dead baby brother and keep their promises of a HEA with the women they love.

**May contain spoilers**

This was a GREAT book, darker than I usually read but great nonetheless. This book is the second in a series, and it can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the series in order. I have not read the first book and while I wasn’t lost I think the first book would have provided more background and that’s never a bad thing. Also while romantically this couple gets their HEA (or happy for now I guess you might call it all things considered) the suspense part of the story is not complete and continues into the next book with a cliffhanger of sorts for the next character in line. If you are of an impatient nature you might want to wait for the series as a whole to be completed because I can tell you, the wait until May for the next book…might kill me, I’m just saying.

Ok first Laney….loved her. Running from something, I kept changing my mind about what, small town bar owner with a HUGE heart, spunky, sassy, faints dead away at the sight of blood, she’s just too cute for words. Then there’s Matt….OH MY GOD MATT!!!! He is seriously panty melting hot! Total alpha without ever really crossing that line to complete a--hole, just the way I like ‘em. Did I mention he’s smoking hot? Genetically engineered, practically indestructible super soldier who falls hard and fast for our heroine and decides he will protect her at any cost; what’s not to love about him? And when these two got together they practically melted my Kindle! Their chemistry is scorching and I have to say the sex scenes are incredibly well written.

The story and the suspense are great too. The Grey brothers escaped from a military training facility several years ago and now they are being hunted by those they escaped and are racing against time to deactivate what is essentially a self destruct mechanism implanted near their spinal cords set to detonate in just a matter of weeks. Each has a different stake and a different personal enemy but they all want to see the commander go down (and boy I can’t wait to see that).

I will reiterate, I loved this book! I don’t read a whole lot of romantic suspense but this is one of the few series I will be keeping up with. If you are a fan of the Black Knights by Julie Ann Walker you should give this series a try too, I bet you’ll love it. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Rebecca Zanetti is conquering the romantic suspense genre with her Sin Brothers series and I am absolutely loving it. Genetically engineered soldiers, boot camps from birth, the most sinister of conspiracies, and a self destruct chip that can end it all. And lets not forget the passion and romance that lights the pages on fire!

Matt Dean is racing the clock to save not only himself, but his brothers as well, from a chip that was implanted in each of them and set to go off in a matter of weeks. Hot on the trail of the doctor behind the hideous surgery, Matt finds himself in a small, quint town in Idaho named Charmed, working for bar owner, Laney Jacobs. Each with secrets of their own, neither Matt or Laney have time for the attraction that is smoldering between them. When Laney's life is threatened though, Matt can't help but become even more involved with her, and the passion that they fight quickly becomes a loosing battle. As their pasts collide the danger that surrounds Matt and Laney escalates, can Matt protect everyone he loves before his time runs out?

Being the eldest of the Gray brothers, Matt has always felt that it was his job to protect his three younger brothers and he will do anything to see them safe. Failing at protecting his youngest brother though, Matt is wracked with guilt and even more determined to save his remaining two brothers from those that are hunting them. Matt is a character with a lot of heart but he's also a total alpha male when it comes down to it. He had so many little nuances to his character I fell more in love with him with each page. And I adored him and Laney together. Their banter, their fervor and passion, it ignited the pages. Laney was an enjoyable heroine as well, loyal and courageous. Not just a sizzling romance though, Sweet Revenged had a fast paced plot that kept me on the edge of my seat with several twists that left me spinning.

I would recommend reading, Forgotten Sins, the first book in this series before starting on Sweet Revenge as 1. It was a fantastic story and 2. You learn the history of the Gray brothers. The continuing story arc has me itching for more and I would definitely recommend the Sin Brothers series to romantic suspense and military romance fans everywhere!

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

With six weeks left before his and his brothers' time ran out, genetically engineered military 'secret weapon' Matt Dean was hot on the trail of the one doctor who might be able to save his and his family's lives. The trail leads him right to Charmed, Idaho, where he ends up wounded in an alley behind a bar, where he is discovered by the bar owner. A small green-eyed beauty who, after 'rescuing' him, promptly faints at the sight of his blood.

For five years Laney Jacobs has successfully hidden out in her bar in Charmed, escaping a past she fears and regrets. Though initially suspicious of the huge, handsome and clearly military man, she quickly warms up to him when he shows her he is absolutely no threat to her. With a busy couple of weeks ahead and some odd events taking place, Laney won't turn down the extra pair of hands Matt is offering. Not to mention the added protection.

Work at Laney's bar provides Matt with the perfect cover to investigate his lead a little closer, while at the same time making sure Laney was safe. The bar owner was awakening all kinds of protective feelings in him usually only reserved for his brothers. Gauging from Laney's responses to him, she was not unaffected either. Giving in to their attraction was unavoidable and explosive, and Laney was glad for the strong arms keeping her safe. Threats were coming in steady.

With Matt's leads running dry, but danger not far off, tension is at a boiling point. And with the arrival of some unwanted support, comes the revealing of a secret that could break the case wide open, and Matt and Laney far apart.....

*****

So friggin good!!!!! This book felt so long - just delicious!! The tension, the build up, the twists and surprises!! And the scrumptious heat....boy.....

I already fell in love with this series in the first book FORGOTTEN SINS and vowed I would read every last one of the installments. The books are technically individual HEA's, but together form a larger story that doesn't end with each book, although each of the books does have a sub story of its own. To get the full effect however, I strongly suggest you read the books in sequence, simply because it will give you a better context and greater enjoyment.

Matt is, of all the brothers, the one who takes responsibility for all of the men. He assigned himself caregiver when they were young and he has never been able to let that go. Never having experienced anything other than brotherly love and the overwhelming sense of responsibility, the feelings that Laney awakes in him take him completely unaware, despite the fact he has seen his brother go through the same. He tries to fight it, not wanting to put Laney at risk by caring for her, but it is of no use.

Laney has been alone in the world for so long, taking care of herself, she is unfamiliar with the feeling of being protected and safe. Matt makes her feel that way instantly, and she hardly feels inclined to resist it. Living with the realization that her cover might be up at any time, she decides to grab what she can and 'live in the moment', and Matt represents 'the moment' since he is supposed to be passing through. Despite knowing it is temporary, her heart can't be held back.

There is such intensity in Rebecca Zanetti's writing, both in the suspense as in the development of the relationship. Sex with these Dean boys can be tender, but is mostly primal and raw......hot stuff!!
The concept of the plot of this series is chilling, but in this day and age, not entirely out of the realm of possibilities, which makes it all the more frightening. So aside from delivering a scorching hot romance, Rebecca also manages to produce a high quality suspense novel that can stand up by its own merit.

✨Tight, provocative and sinister battle against deadlines.✨

Ahh yeah. This book totally did it for me. I was on the edge of my seat, had my jaw drop open more than once-- because Zanetti totally blew my mind with a couple twists and turns I never saw coming--and just had a blast as Matt hunted down the woman involved in the horrors of his past and fell for a wee little bartender in the process.

The gist is that Matt and his brothers have escaped the people who created them (they were genetically engineered as a government project) but even with their escape their lives are at risk because of a "kill switch" the scientists had implanted. They've got mere weeks to hunt down the doctors that created it and force them to deactivate the chips. Holy. Crap.

The guys... I just love Matt and his brothers. These guys are fierce. They're killing machines, they've had hard lives, are trained to kill and are just badass and smart as hell. And they have a thing for soft, innocent, warm women since they've never had any of that in their lives. So, they can come off as cavemen now and again but damn it's endearing and sexy and just makes me smile over them and how fierce they are about protecting what's theirs. They have an incredible bond too.

Alright so Matt and Laney. They were great together. They're both hiding things about their pasts and where they come from and they're both fighting hard for new lives that are safe from the people hunting them. They were nicely paired and the chemistry between them right from the start when she found him injured in her bar's ally was amazing.

Matt can be pretty, erm, demanding and rocks the whole alpha male "you'll do what I say" bit but Laney's no delicate flower and totally gives it right back at him. It made for some nice steamy scenes too. And just a fun romance to see their battles of will. Laney's also just a good person and easily had me falling for her as she took care of the people around her who needed an extra hand.

All in all, Sweet Revenge was an excellent addition to the Sins Brothers series and once again proved Zanetti is a master at crafting an exciting romance. It was entertaining, funny, sweet and spicy too. And the suspense of Matt and his brothers hunting their creators and a killer who has set his sites on Laney and it was an intense ride. It could be harsh and bloody but it kept me engaged and biting my lip waiting to see what would happen next.

Where do I even start with how much I loved Sweet Revenge? Well maybe with I am now a big fan of this series (I immediately bought the first book after I read Sweet Revenge). First though, I have to credit Anna from Herding Cats and Burning Soup for bringing my attention to author Rebecca Zanetti when she did a spotlight on book one, Forgotten Sins. I asked a few questions and resolved to put it on my TBR list

Matt was an awesome hero, he’s a deadly force to be reckoned with, a man used to issuing orders and being obeyed yet he’s not too much of an Alpha male to be a complete waste of time. He’s fair and doesn’t suffocate people with an overbearing personality. He knows when to step in and take control and when to back off. I loved that he didn’t come in and completely take over Laney’s life and become controlling. He only stepped in when she was in immediate danger and that was when he accepted no arguments. I loved that about him. He was man enough to defend and protect but not an a-hole character with a god complex and the “Me man, You little woman” attitude. His shock and frustration whenever Laney stood up to him and argued back was amusing to say the least, and the fact that he became even more attracted to her because of her fierce independent streak made him one sexy character in my eyes.

Then there’s Laney. Secretive, intelligent, stubborn Laney. I loved her! Tough enough to go through life alone but smart enough to know when she’s way out of her element and needs help. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and enough of a personality to keep Matt on his toes around her. It was easy for me to see why Matt fell for her, she’s pretty much the whole package. She’s the type of character that men want to love and women want to be friends with. Her trust is hard earned but once it is, it’s forever. Watching her and Matt dance around each other for awhile was entertaining, both of them were stubborn enough to be in denial even as they shared heated embraces. I also admired the lack of hysterics from Laney when things got dangerous, she was calm and rational. My favorite kind of heroine! The sparks flew between Matt and Laney and as a couple, they certainly didn’t disappoint!

The relationship between Matt and his brothers is part of what made Sweet Revenge such a great read. Sure, they have the normal give-each-other-crap type relationship that most brothers have but there’s also a deeper connection between them. They’ve all been through hell and only had each other to rely on and despite their violent upbringing; they love each other deeply and fiercely. It’s their greatest weakness but also their greatest strength.

Rarely am I caught off guard with a romantic suspense, usually by the halfway point, I have most, if not the entire mystery solved, but with Sweet Revenge I was not expecting the curveball that was thrown with the revelations of several characters’ true identities. It was awesome being caught off guard like that, and in that way I was able to connect with Matt and later Laney. Great job Rebecca Zanetti on not dropping any hints about the identities and misleading this reader so many times that I began to doubt everyone’s stories! I wish I could be caught off guard like that with every book but sadly, Rebecca Zanetti is one of only two authors who have ever done that to me as a reader.

As soon as I can, I’m diving into book one, but maybe not too soon because then I’ll have a longer wait for book three in the series.

Whew. Ok. First – I want to send Rebecca Zanetti roses or something. I am so in love with this series I could do a cartwheel or a squeal, or something really cool lol. In the first book, Forgotten Sins, I was all about Shane. LOVED Shane. Still do. I loved everything about that book. It was mysterious and emotional and torturous – all things I love.

Sweet Revenge was pretty darn great. Like, if Forgotten Sins scored a 100 on my scale, then Sweet Revenge would be at like, 95. Sweet Revenge is all about Matt, the oldest of the gray brothers. Matt Dean. Holy hell on a stick, the man is something special. He’s fierce and loyal and has such a deep-rooted sense of loyalty to his brothers, you can’t help but love him.

But he’s in trouble. They all are. They have those pesky chips in them that will spell certain doom if they don’t get them out – like now. So Matt is on the search for a surgeon from the Commander’s team. And he think he has a lead on her in a small town named Charmed.

Charmed is small town Americana. Everyone knows everyone, and nearly everyone grew up there. It’s a nice place to live, and well, Matt thinks it’s a good place for the surgeon, Dr. Peters to hide out. And as luck would have it, right away Matter meets Laney, who runs the bar. Temporary cover as a bouncer and free room come with the job, it would seem everything is lining up for Matt.

Yeah. It would seem that way. Except then it all goes to Hell. Hell, it goes further than Hell, but I don’t know where that would be. But its that bad.

This story was fabulous in so many ways. It poured on the mystery and the drama. Excitement and tension were at all time high levels. Sexual chemistry and that spark we all crave in our favorite books were present and at the forefront.

As for Laney? I liked her. I seem to be lucky these days, finding a lot of heroines that I just really like. And Laney is definitely among them. She’s in Charmed building a new life for herself after an abusive boyfriend. She’s absolutely smart, and she is a woman in charge of her life. I really love that. But as the book goes on, you see how incredibly caring she is. She doesn’t just care for herself, or Matt, but she also takes care of nearly everyone she knows in some capacity. I love her capacity to just give of herself for the joy, safety, and well-being of others.

QUOTe
She arched against him and whispered his name.

The sound of her soft voice would stay with him. Through whatever the future held, he’d carry the moment. This woman should be savored, and there was no way he could keep her at arm’s length. She’d slid right into his heart, and instinct told him she’d always live there. For the short time he had left, she’d be with him. Even if he moved across the world from her.
ENDQUOTE

This book has a lot of heart in it. This romance will leave you giggling, weeping, fearful, and hot. You want Matt and Laney to find happiness together. In Sweet Revenge there are definitely twists and turns. There are dead people. There are quite a few people who you know you just can’t quite trust, but you aren’t sure why just yet. You even get a few moments where you are on the edge of your seat. But you have the ready and steady Matt there to guide you through the whole ordeal, so you know you are in good hands. In terms of romantic suspense, this book is top notch, and I would definitely say the Sins Brothers series is absolutely among my favorites.

Oooh I love me some Matt Dean! Sweet Revenge was an amazing read. It was fully developed, the characters were relatable and the suspense gripped me from the beginning. I felt like there was so much going on in this book that it was over almost too soon. But, the great thing about this series in general is the story arc that will connect all of the books. The Dean brothers are still searching for and hoping to destroy the Commander. Along the way they discovered that the people after them aren't the only thing that could kill them. With danger in Idaho and the Commander closing in it is definitely a race against time.

"I've lived a dark life, and you're all light. I'd break my own arm before I'd hurt you."
~Matt

Now, they must find one of the doctors who was on duty in the camps they were held in. In his search for said doctor, Matt Dean, the oldest and most responsible of the Dean brothers heads to Charmed, Idaho and meets Laney Jacobs. He can tell Laney is hiding from someone. But Laney is far from a damsel in distress. She is a tough, stubborn, bar-owner who melts at Matt's touch. Matt, a hard, jaded soldier softens under Laney's gaze. These two find love in the most unsuspected place in the midst of all hell breaking loose. There are secrets that are revealed that could tear them a part. And the Commander isn't the only one after them. It takes a lot of trust, and strong will to live through the mission they must go on to save the Dean brothers. Matt is so careful with Laney at first. He tries to coddle her but, she is having none of it. Matt is a yummy, sexy alpha male that will have you lusting and yelling at him in no time. Laney, on the other hand, is all heart and pride. They both don't find it easy to give into their attraction but, with chemistry like these two have they don't hold out for long.

"But she'd figure out something to save his life. Even if she lost hers."
~Laney

We also see more development of Jory's story. I have a feeling of where that is going but, with Rebecca Zanetti you never know. I was intrigued by Matt in the Forgotten Sins. He was always so hard on himself, and held himself solely responsible for how their lives turned out. It was comforting to see Laney help him carry that load and ease his hardened heart. This book opened up so many more questions to be answered in the remainder of the series and I can't wait to see where it all goes. Sweet Revenge has a perfect balance of love, lust and suspense. Matt and Laney will warm your heart but, also make you laugh out loud with their banter. While each book has its standalone couple story there are overlying story arcs that require you to read from the beginning of the series. Trust me it is so worth it. The Sins Brothers are quickly faves of mine!

Happy Reading!

Review:
Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti is the second in the Sins Brothers series. This is a series about four brothers who were created in a lab by the military to be the perfect soliders. It’s kind of like the old TV show Dark Angel but not quite that extreme with the enhancements. The only problem with the Comanders plan for the Gray Brothers is that they loved each other way more then they loved the brutal training the commander put them through. The three remaining brothers ave six weeks to live before they are literally blown from the inside out. There were explosives inserted right next to their spines to ensure their cooperation. Matt is on a mission to find one of the Dr.’s that could have performed the surgery in attempt to live past the six weeks they have left. A postcard sent to one of the Dr.’s leads him to Charmed, Idaho. He is bleeding from a knife wound when he meets Laney in the alley outside her bar, in a moment of stupid compassion she takes him and then everything goes to hell and back.

From beginning to end we are taken on a passionate and dangerous journey. From the moment these two meet the sparks fly, I LOVED the chemistry between these two from the get go. The chemistry while quick and powerful it could have easily felt forced or as the dreaded Insta-Love however, this attraction and subsequent love was effortless and meant. I adored Laney she has a dark past of her own but is also smart and knows when to step up and back down she is quick witted and sassy she is able to stand up to the force that is Matt. Matt is surprised that he can’t cow tow this petite bar owner, usually he doesn’t have any problems dominating anyone but his bartender gives as good as she gets. These two don’t even have time to settle into their mutual attraction when the bodies start to fall. It quickly comes to light that a deranged serial killer is after Laney and they she has a few secrets of her own. Matt almost loses sight of the mission because of the temptation in the form of a green eyed brunette and the trouble that she brings, but if he accomplishes nothing else in what time he has left he vows that he will see his Laney safe even if he has to hunt down a killer.

You will be quickly absorbed into the story as takes off at a sprint from the beginning and never lets up. If there is not some sort of action taking place the passion between Matt and Laney is imploding off of the pages. Neither can afford the distraction their attraction is bringing and even though they agree its temporary from the beginning neither can seem to let the other go. Both Matt and Laney have some serious baggage and trust issues and that’s not even taking into account that if Matt doesn’t find the surgeon and answers, he’ll be dead in six weeks. Not a lot of time to save his own life and that of his brothers especially when he has an elite military unit after him and a serial killer to deal with. A tall order of events even for Matt. Matt is a protector by nature and he wants to make sure all of his loved ones are taken care of; it’s because of his protector nature that he feels like such a failure when it comes to his lost brother Jory. He made a promise to his brothers and he wasn’t able to keep it with Jory. It about breaks your heart whenever he thinks of his fallen brother. The loyalty and love Matt feels for his brothers is inspiring and emotion packed. With this book are getting it all, loveable characters, action, passion, romance and an emotional ride. I loved this ride from beginning to end and can’t wait for the next book. Tomorrow would not be soon enough for Nate’s book, too bad we have to wait until May for the next installment. Patience is a virtue, one I don’t have!

Sweet Revenge was worth the wait, and I enjoyed it even more than the first book. The oldest brother, Matt, is on a mission to find the doctor who implanted him and his brothers with a kill chip. His journey brings him to a small town where he finds temporary employment at a local bar for his cover. Several females in town fit the description of the doctor he’s looking for; all he has to do is get close enough to each of them to determine which of them worked for the Commander.

As the oldest brother, Matt has always felt it was his responsibility to protect and keep his brothers together. The guilt he carries over what happened to their youngest brother weighs on him heavily, and until he meets Laney, revenge and survival have been his primary focus and reason to keep going.

Laney, the owner of the bar is initially reluctant to hire Matt but she’s desperate for the help. She can see right away, this man is dangerous in more ways than one:

“Are you in trouble, sweetheart?” he asked softly, pushing off from the door.

Yes. Definitely. Trouble with all capital letters stood before her like every dangerous fantasy a girl had about tattooed bad boys on motorcycles.”

Laney is a tough, sassy, take charge woman who knows how to take care of herself and is used to being on her own. No matter how much she tries to keep her distance from Matt, her heart continues to soften around him. However, because she has her own secrets to hide, she doesn’t’ try to pry into Matt’s situation and past. The passion between them builds into some very scorching love scenes, yet they both agree anything between them is only temporary.

An interesting subplot involving a series of murders in town creates major complications for both Matt and Laney. While Laney finds herself the target of a killer, Matt becomes one of the police’s main suspects. Just as I’m trying to sort out the various characters’ motives, Zanettie reveals one doozie of a shocker that completely caught me off guard!

From that point on, I did not want to put the book down, and the danger escalates into an intense situation where the odds of their survival look bleak. The drama that unfolds had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved every minute of it.

Although this is an excellent story, I did have issues with aspects of believability and the chronological timeline established at the beginning of the series. I know this is fiction, but when the identity and motivation behind the serial killings come to light, the truth is too far-fetched for me to really accept. I also found some inconsistencies in the exact amount of time that has passed between the first and second book which is significant to the three-month countdown until the kill chip is activated. However, this was an ARC, and some of the details may have changed by the official publication date.

So far in this series, each novel’s storyline is fully developed, well-executed, and adds depth to the increasing complexity of the major plot. Zanetti has done an amazing job in creating rich, multi-dimensional characters that are easy to connect with and care about. The concept of family and its importance as well as loyalty, and trust are prominent themes that emerge from the series. Furthermore, even though the series is fictional, the author subtly delves into some of the physical and psychological ramifications involved with genetic engineering.

I received access to read an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review. Since quotes are taken from a pre-published copy, they may have been changed or omitted from the final version.

This book is an action romance with a hot alpha hero, lots of sexual steam, and a page turning plot - my kind of book all the way! So much so that I rushed off to get book 1 as soon as I finished. (A word about reading book 2 before book 1 - reading stuff in order is always better but I felt that the author provided enough information on the backstory that I had no problem knowing what was going on.)

The plot: our hero, a genetically engineered `super soldier', has been sent to a small town in Idaho to track down one of the doctors who participated in the program that created them. His goal is to capture her and get the information to remove the self-destruct chip she planted in him and his three brothers. The chip that is set to blow in six weeks...

On the way to Idaho he is attacked and injured, apparently by the same group that created him and his brothers, then subjected them to the torture they called training... Not good.

When he reaches Idaho he meets up with our heroine who finds him bleeding in an alley and gets himself hired to work in her bar as a `cover' for his search. The chemistry and mutual attraction immediately kick in. They both have secrets, they both have agendas, and they both know that acting on their instincts would be a really bad idea. But bad ideas can feel so very good...

I won't go any farther with the plot but there are a number of twists and turns along the route. The ending is satisfying on the romance level but leaves you pantingly eager for the next book as the series plot line of the chip with the time-limit is unresolved and a teaser about the next brother to fall is included in the epilogue.

I found Rebecca Zanetti through her paranormal series Dark Protectors (another excellent read). She consistently gives the reader page-turning plots, hot alpha heroes and the strong women who will keep them in line. This book is no exception, I highly recommend it.

“I’m not one of the good guys, baby, but I’d prefer you somewhat in control of your faculties if this is going where I think it is.”

Her gaze dropped to his full lips. “You’re closer to a good guy than you believe.”

For answer, he curled his free hand around her neck and drew her over the bar. “Don’t look for traits I don’t have. I know exactly who I am.”

“Who are you?” she whispered.

“The guy who’s going to have you screaming his name within the next hour.”

If you haven’t read Forgotten Sins, the first book in the Sins Brothers series, I strongly recommend you read that book first. It lays the groundwork and background for Sweet Revenge and I think this is one series where the books really do need to be read in order. If you have not read Forgotten Sins, you may not want to read this review as it may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk!

We got a small teaser of Sweet Revenge at the end of Forgotten Sins and I’ve been looking forward to reading this second book for quite a while. Sweet Revenge opens where Forgotten Sins ended. Matt, along with his brothers, is working against the clock to find information that will help disable the chips that that were implanted in their backs. If they aren’t able to find the code to disable the chips within 6 weeks, the chips will explode, severing their spines and killing them. Oh the drama of it all!

Matt comes to the town of Perfect, Idaho after clues point to the surgeon living and practicing medicine there. He immediately meets bar owner Laney Jacobs who agrees to give him a job and a place to stay while she is short staffed. I don’t want to give too much about the story line and what happens but both characters have things they are hiding. There are a lot of different factors that come into play which affect the developing relationship between Matt and Laney as well as their safety.

The sparks between Matt and Laney are immediate and the chemistry between these two only grows from there. Both Matt and Laney realize becoming involved is not a good idea but both find it very hard to resist the lure of the other. These two together are nothing but steamy and their romance is HOT!

"Any control he thought he had snapped into nothingness. Grabbing her hips, half lifting her from the bed, he plunged inside her hard. His other hand snaked up her side to clamp over her shoulder from behind, yanking her down to meet his primal thrusts.

She closes her eyes as incredible pleasure melded with pressure inside her. Each thrust, each pound, only increased the desperate craving. He hit nerves she didn’t even know existed. She let him take her, helpless in his hold and her need. He moved her as he wanted her, his pounding fast and furious.

Electricity uncoiled within her, sending sparks to burn her from within. Her eyelids flipped open as the orgasm took her over, rode her, forced her to explode in a climax so violent she couldn’t even whimper. She arched her back, her mouth open in a silent scream. Waves of pleasure rippled through her, touching more than flesh, more than right now.

He took everything she was."

I liked Shane in Forgotten Sins but I LOVED Matt in this book! He is scrumptious. A definite alpha, he is protective and bossy. He is used to taking care of his brothers and is used to calling the shots. He has a slight edge to his personality and that just makes him all the sexier.

She nipped his skin, biting hard enough it had to sting.

Drawing back her head, he lowered his face toward hers. “I like you playing, and I like you brave, but don’t think for a second you’re directing this.”

Her eyebrow rose in challenge, feminine intrigue sweeping through her. “Prove it.”

Dangerous words to say to such a man. But why not?

His smile showed but amusement and the confidence of a predator. “With pleasure.” With superfast reflexes, he twirled her around to face the couch. Yanking her shirt over her head, he caged her with his body. Heated breath brushed her ear. “You ever begged, baby?”

I normally don’t read many books that can be considered paranormal. I took a chance on the first book in the series as a fluke and really enjoyed it. While there is a paranormal element to the story because the brothers have enhanced DNA, at its core, the Sins Brothers series is a fast paced, steamy, romantic suspense series that just happens to have paranormal elements. For readers like me that don’t normally read paranormal books, I’d recommend not shying away from these books. They are definitely worth another look, especially for readers that enjoy romantic suspense with alpha/warrior heros and a healthy dose of steam.

I do want to mention, Sweet Revenge does have a HEA for Matt and Laney but the overall story line, that started in book one, revolving around the brothers future, the chips in their back, and the Commander is not resolved in this book. That part of the story will be picked up in the next book and I imagine will continue through the end of the series. I personally don’t consider this a cliffhanger but it is an ongoing story line.

At the end of Sweet Revenge the author gives a teaser of the third book in the series, Blind Faith, which is set to release in May of 2014. This will be Nate’s story. I actually chose not to read the teaser this time because it’s just too hard to get the tease when I can’t get the book for so many months! While I am definitely looking forward to reading about Nate and seeing this jilted, hard-ass man get his HEA, it’s Jory that has intrigued me the most. Is he alive? Where has he been? Who was the woman who shot him? So many questions left to answer and I can’t wait!

Overall, I liked Forgotten Sins but I LOVED Sweet Revenge! This book definitely cemented this series as a must read for me. The writing is solid, the story seems very well thought out and well-paced and I was interested from beginning to end. This was a solid 4.5 STAR READ for me and I look forward to reading more in this series and more from this author! (Just a side note, I actually didn’t realize that Rebecca Zanetti has written a couple books in the Entangled Brazen collection and I have already added to my TBR list.)

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited when I saw that this one was finally out. I loved the introduction to the Sins Brothers through the first book which was Shane and Josie’s story so I was chomping at the bit to see what would happen next with Matt’s story. I thought I adored Shane, but I think I’m going to have to revise that opinion and just say that all these brothers are a lethal and sensual class act.

And in case you were wondering, these really do need to be read in order because there is a central plot line running through this series even if the main characters change up. These are those delicious twisty-bendy Romantic Suspense type books so fair warning you might not want to continue if you don’t want some spoilage for book one. This also leads me to say that this book’s summary may be be a tad vague because I don’t want to offer up any of the surprises in store for readers of this book and trust me people it is loaded with the s’prises though at first you think you’re just reading this slow building romantic suspense that is heavy on the romance- and it is that, but…

So all that being said, the story opens with Matt and Nate back in the field. Nate is still hunting down clues to finding Jory and Matt is following the trail to the doctor who worked in the lab that inserted those kill chips in their backs that are set to detonate in six weeks if they don’t get them removed. Shane has worked through the possibilities in the small town he’s trailed her to and narrows it down to a possibility of three women who are all blond and all in some sort of medical role. He entered town on his bike wounded from the last encounter with their pursuers and looking for a place to hole up in the middle of a rain storm.

Laney knows she shouldn’t soften her heart toward the wounded man seeking shelter and a job, but he’s a lonely ex-marine and needs help. Matt Dean scares her with the lethal vibes he gives off, but he also attracts her. It’s the attraction that wins the day. She tries the bossy tough gal routine with him, but at the end of the day she still needs his brand of help since the bouncer/assistant bartender for her bar quit just before the biker rally.

Laney has secrets and she has finally found a town where she could stay for a while and put down a few roots, but she has to be so careful. She’s well aware that Matt is a drifter and he only promised the temporary, but now with a mysterious stalker after her who may have already committed murder, it’s nice to have someone taking care of her.

Matt knows full well that he shouldn’t get involved with the vivacious sassy little bar owner because he has a job to do and he is all wrong for any woman, but he can’t help being drawn in by Laney. She’s exactly the sort of woman he finds appealing and she makes him want things that he can never have. As he checks the suspects for the doctor off his list narrowing them down one by one, he finds himself prime suspect for the local murder and he still has to keep Laney safe. Meanwhile, he knows the clock is ticking on he and his brothers’ lives.

The plot on this one was pretty impressive when viewed from the end. It was engaging from the beginning and just kept building into something more. This author has some true skills at putting together a Romantic Suspense that is well-balanced toward both the romance and the suspense. It feels unbalanced as one reads along, but it’s seeing the story after finishing that it takes on a different look. I’m not going to say much about the suspense except it is top notch and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

The pacing starts slower though not slow. It just takes a bit to build up momentum so that by the end my heart was racing and I was frantically reading to see how everything would pan out.

The characters were well written. Matt carried over from the first book as a late secondary character. But this was his story and I now had a chance to be in his mind. The story was told third person, but switched back and forth. Matt is the oldest of the brothers who were all created in a test-tube and are enhanced humans trained from childhood to be lethal killing machines. He and the other creations were grouped into fours with the fours chosen because of sharing the same sperm and egg donors. To him the others in his four are his family and his younger brothers. They are his to take care of and he has always had the responsibility to keep his brothers safe. He feels so guilty because he couldn’t keep his promise to Jory and they lost him and now he is doubly determined that he will do whatever it takes to make sure his remaining brothers survive for a chance at a real life. Matt has never had a relationship so Laney knocks him on his butt figuratively. He is amused by her show of spirit and willfulness. He knows that he scares her, but he is warmed by the fact that she won’t be intimidated and she genuinely cares for him. He has so much on his plate, but he shoulders Laney and her issues too and I just loved this big brother who hides an intense passionate nature.

Now Laney is a wild card of sorts. She’s running from something bad in her past that she is terribly afraid will catch up with her. In fact, she’s so worried about that and about the depth of her feelings for Matt, that she barely notices that she’s become the fixation of a stalker. She knows that she really shouldn’t let Matt get so close to her and that she needs to keep her feelings distant so she doesn’t get hurt when she needs to run again or when Matt takes off, but her heart won’t listen. She’s so perfect for Matt in many ways. She’s tough, but soft around the edges. She has a big heart, but she’s smart and sensible. She’s loyal and giving. Totally perfect couple.

The secondary characters were good too. I loved that Shane and Nate are still in the picture and that the main story thread is still moving along even as Matt and Laney’s story progresses. There are some tantalizing series clues given out in this one that I can’t wait to follow up with in the next installment that I think will be Nate’s story.

All in all, I am so into this series and was riveted to this book. Romantic Suspense lovers who can dig an enhanced human hero and a sassy heroine who get up to some sultry romance and heart-thumping suspense should grab these up as soon as you can.

My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Laney Jacobs isn't living the life she thought she would, or even doing the job she trained for. But in order to stay alive and off the radar she has moved to small country town called Charmed. She borrowed money from a loan shark, and opened a bar. She was never any good with making friends, but since she has been in town for 5 years, she has accumulated a rag tag group of misfits whom she has kept fed and safe. She knows she will have to leave town soon, she has probably stayed in this place longer than she should, but she worries about those she has to leave behind. She decides to stay for 2 more weeks, until after the bikers rally, then she will pack her bags and leave. The bar is going to be crazy busy, and she can't leave her bartender in the lurch.

SWEET REVENGE is the second storyline in Rebecca Zanetti's contemporary, adult, paranormal storyline focusing on four brothers and their connection to a secret military operation where super soldiers are genetically engineered. The Commander is hoping for the return of all of his enhanced fighting machines and the Gray Brothers continue to allude their captor. This is Matt and Laney's story.

The focus of the series follows the `Gray' brothers as they try to find the code that will unlock the mechanism that will end their lives. With only six weeks on the clock, Matt `Gray' Dean believes he has found the doctor responsible for implanting the `death sentence' that awaits his brothers and himself. Heading to the small town of Charmed, Idaho Matt stumbles into the path of a serial killer that is somehow connected to his past. When he meets bar owner Laney Jacobs, the attraction is immediate and the sexual heat is volatile.

The relationship between Laney and Matt is both seductive and sensual. Matt holds himself back knowing his enhanced powers may reveal more about himself than he wants anyone to know, but Laney soon discovers that Matt is someone she has known for a very long time.

I uncovered the twist to the storyline early on but it did not deter me from the suspense and mystery surrounding the events in Charmed, Idaho and the connections to the Gray Brothers and the `Commander'. The Commander has been searching for five years knowing their time is almost at an end, but the Gray Brothers are no longer the small boys who feared the man that pushed everyone a little too far.

Rebecca Zanetti has written a powerful storyline of family and love. Four brothers, connected by DNA and a history of abuse and power, will search for the code that will save their lives. Along the way, each will find the woman who is the other half to their soul taking them one step closer to the final confrontation.

sweet revenge

HOT! HOT! HOT! There is nothing I like better then a smoking hot Alpha man who would rather break his own arm then hurt the woman he loves (even if he is in denial about it at the moment) and boy do I get that in Sweet Revenge. Matt and Laney are one hot couple with some steamy scenes that almost fogged up my glasses. The Gray Brothers still struggling to gain their freedom are a hot set of men; tall, built like an ox and painfully handsome.

This second book of the series picks up with Matt Dean finally having isolated the location of one of the doctors who worked on the chips that is set to blow up in six weeks killing him and his remaining two brothers only they have no idea what she looks like. With three possible suspects Matt needs to infiltrate the town and find the right doctor. He never expected to find a woman like Laney, who inspires him to protect and covet her like he has never felt the need before.

Laney with the mysterious past is being stalked by an unknown person who isn't afraid to kill to get what he wants. When she stumbles upon Matt almost bleeding to death from stab wounds she helps him and begrudgingly gives him a job working as a bouncer/bartender in her bar, which also comes with room and board. Matt doesn't know why he is drawn to Laney and Laney is scared of her feeling for Matt. It can't be denied their is something there and they don't want to deny it, with the agreement that it is only temporary they get involved only to get more attached then either of them ever wished to be.

It doesn't help matters that a stalker/serial killer is leaving notes for Laney and dead bodies that point to Matt as the killer and the news of who Laney really is almost ruins any future for them, but their love for each other is stronger. Fighting serial killers, armed deadly assassins, psychotic doctors and a Commander who'll never quit and never seems to die fills this steamy romance full of action and suspense enough to satisfy even me.

“We don’t live in the real world, in picket-fence places. We live the way we live-fast, hard and bloody. Life is fast, and death is faster.”
I’ve said it a thousand times. Rebecca Zanetti is the master of hooking you and dragging you into her well-crafted mysteries. Sweet Revenge is number 2 in the Sins Brothers series. At the end of book one we were treated to a sneak peak of the next brother’s story to come. While she always ends each book, the bigger picture is always continuing. Big Tease. Oh my. I was dying to get to Matt’s story.
Matt is the oldest of the Grey brothers. He feels he carries the soul responsibility of protecting his brothers on his shoulders. It’s a role he took early on in life. Sacrificing whatever to keep them all alive. Matt is a man on a mission 24/7, 365 days of the year. Coming down to the last few weeks of do or die, He is out on a mission to find the one person who may be able to keep him and his brothers alive. A Doctor. But the big mystery is who exactly she is. The brothers have narrowed it down to one tiny town in Idaho. Should be pretty simple right?
Things are way more complicated than Matt had ever expected. (I just have to laugh at that. Poor Matt doesn’t know what hit him.) On his way to this charming little town he runs into problems. He’s injured and caught in an alley by an unsuspecting bar owner, Laney Jacobs. Laney comes to the rescue but shortly he rescuing Laney from passing out at the sight of blood. Well, there’s person ruled out for being the doctor. But one thing Matt didn’t take into account, his heart. He tries to fight the feelings until he realizes Laney life is in danger. So many people to protect, such little time. He’s questioning his code of mission first.
“He’d lived with fear, he’d lived with pain, but failure was just too much.”
Laney is a kind and caring young woman. Taking care of the town’s people and running her business, she mostly sticks to herself. Laney has secrets. Secrets don’t stay hidden for long. Laney is always ready to run. This time is different. She has someone stalking her and her savior is being accused of murder. She questions Matt to a point. She doesn’t believe he could murder innocent woman. Until she notices something that sends the chill straight to her heart. Running may no longer be an option. Laney is confused and scared. She’ll have to face her past to save the future.
“Love was supposed to be romantic and sweet. Not so painful her lungs hurt to breathe.”
I positively adore Laney and Matt. These two characters are perfect for each other. Both have great big hearts and would do anything for their loved ones or just people in general. Independent in their own right yet, when they come together they make the perfect team. When their two worlds collide, we see them fight with all they have to bring them one step closer to ending the mystery they both live in. The action leading up to the end had me gritting my teeth. I didn’t know how they were going to get out of the situation. Yikes. Intense. But the brothers always stick together. They fight with everything they have to save their family. New ones included.
“Never Alone.”
This book was well written and the adventure was suspenseful and hot. Questions are answered but as usual more questions arise in the end and we are on to the next brother with more mysteries to solve. Gah! I thought waiting for this one was hard. Ha! Wait until you read the sneak peak. Nate is throwing caution to the wind. The adventure continues. I rate Sweet Revenge 4.5 stars. Fantastic Series

4.5 Read...rounded to FIVE for the store

Hold onto your reader! From the moment Laney finds Matt bleeding in her alley, through all the twists and turns, and eye opening "A HA" moments, Ms. Zanetti takes us on one roller coaster of a ride.

Matt is such a protector. He's been the one to keep his brothers safe, the one who worked them harder so they could survive the Commander, the one who feels responsible for everything. He's shocked to discover that maybe he has needs after all. And he needs, and wants, Laney.

Laney has secrets. And they may not be what we imagine. I really liked this character, especially when she decides that Matt is something special and she really wants to be with him, no matter how long she'll get with him. She fears her secrets are going to force them apart.

I particularly enjoyed having Nathan in this book, getting to know him better. Shane and Josie have their moments, too.

The Commander, evil Dr. Madison, and one of the Brown Brothers, Emery, make me just hate them more after their appearance in Sweet Revenge. I sincerely hope that Ms. Zanetti has something horrible in store for them.

Just like Shane and Josie, Matt and Laney have an instant connection. They fight it, briefly, and when they give in, well, my kindle thought it was melting. I think the Grey brothers fall quickly because life can be brief. It doesn't always work in a book, but it works here. I love how Matt was surprised to find himself in love. He wouldn't appreciate it, but it was cute.

There were quite a few twists that caught me by surprise. That makes books by Rebecca Zanetti fun. One never knows what's going to happen.

My only quibble was some of the repetitive themes in the narrative. We know that the chips are going to kill them in six weeks, and we heard that time and time again. Instead of building tension, it made me count how many times it was mentioned.

Regardless, I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

We are gifted with a prologue and the first chapter of the next book, Nathan's book. Oh my gosh...the wait for it is going to be difficult! I want it NOW!!!!!

Yes, this one is most definitely a FOUR AND A HALF BOOKMARK read.

*Thank you, NetGalley and Forever - Grand Central Publishing, for allowing me the opportunity to read Sweet Revenge.

Wow - I'm duly impressed by Ms. Zanetti now. I read one of her paranormal romances (reviewed elsewhere on the blog) and now I've read her romantic suspense and dang, I gotta read more! I like this woman's writing a lot.

Laney was a haunted woman, and while I realized part of her secret before it was revealed, I still was horrified at what she'd had to live through once Ms. Zanetti divulged the information. I'm amazed at the courage and strength of conviction that Laney had to take the path she did, even if that conviction was a bit weak in the beginning before she made the decision (yes, I'm being vague - it's hard to avoid spoilers sometimes).

Matt - wow. A genetically engineered from birth soldier. I abruptly feel very old, because I must be older than him. Test tube babies weren't developed until a couple of years after I was born (though I maintain my parents must have found a way around that because I refuse to believe they ever did anything), but Matt was definitely engineered. I like the advanced senses he has and how he's used them to survive. He's definitely a survivor and incredibly loyal to his family. He's in a race against time (cliche, but true) to find the code to disable a kill switch that's implanted near his spine and will kill him in less than 5 weeks (by the end of the book).

These two played off each other quite well and I found their romance to be very believable. I liked that Matt tried to be bossy (typical Alpha) and Laney didn't take that from him. Some of the lovin' wasn't sweet or loving, but it was HOT. I loved these two in bed. Or whatever other surface they might choose to use.

The ending was great and I loved how Laney was finally able to face one of the demons she'd been running from to become whole (or at least more whole) than she had been for years.

I'm so glad I read this and I've already hunted down Book 1 and want to read Book 3 when it's available! Thanks, Ms. Zanetti!

The Premise

The second book in the Sin Brothers Series, it focuses on the oldest brother, Matt Dean. Three brothers, part of a secret black-ops military unit, genetically engineered to be the perfect soldiers. Soldiers who, if they disobey or go rogue, have devices implanted in them to kill them. The brothers broke out of their indentured servitude, and have found out that they have less than six weeks to find the surgeon who implanted them and get that person to get it out. Matt has found his way to Charmed, Idaho, where he meets Laney Jacobs, a woman with her own share of secrets. Laney knows Matt’s trouble, and Matt knows nothing permanent can come from their attraction with his looming expiration date, but then Laney starts getting threatening notes, and the pair start a very wary alliance to find the killer, while avoiding exposing their own secrets to the other.

The Good
Although this is the second book in the series, I did not feel as if I was missing any vital information, and the story progresses in a straightforward manner, with just enough exposition regarding the backstory that I didn’t feel bogged down in the details.. While there is an overarching plot involving the brothers and their creation and subsequent escape from the commander, the main romance is resolved and that’s a crucial part for me. I have trouble continuing with cliffhanger books where there is no resolution at all, and very rarely do I want to continue with the story.

You spend a good amount of time in Laney and Matt’s heads, and this is extremely helpful in sympathizing with both of them. Laney, at first glance, seems to be a typical damsel in distress, but as you go deeper into the story, her ability to save herself as well as Matt brings a good balance to their romance. Matt’s undying loyalty and protectiveness of his brothers and Laney is precisely what you want from an alpha hero. The action sequences are fun and helped to keep me turning the page to find out what was going to happen next.

The Not So Good
The predictability of the main “mystery” - who is the surgeon who implanted the devices into the brothers - was a bit disappointing, although the twist with one of the suspects at the end was a nice touch. The villains here seem to have little depth, and no motivation other than being evil. Laney and Matt are essentially perfect, with very little flaws and the very tight timeframe makes the romance a bit hard to believe, but the action and suspense distracted me enough that I didn’t mind too much.

The Bottom Line
A decent suspense/action romance that, while predictable in parts, was enjoyable enough for me to be willing to continue with the series.

Sweet Revenge, book 2 in Rebecca Zanetti's Sins Brothers series, is only my second read by this author and I am completely in love with this series and her writing style! This book has it all - an amazing cover, extremely well written characters and a suspense filled plot that kept me enthralled from the first page to the very end.

Matt Dean is the oldest `Gray' brother and the Alpha male protector of his group. His love and devotion for his family is all-consuming; his vengeance against those who have wronged them is swift, cold and brutal. Nothing will stop him from protecting those that he loves.

Laney is running from the mistakes of her past. Living in constant fear of that past and the unknown, she is desperate for the peace that Matt provides. She wants to belong, to love and to atone for her sins.

Sweet Revenge packed a powerful punch and kept me on the edge of my seat. The suspense and action that it delivered was outstanding. The evolving story, and chemistry between Matt and Laney, was powerful and I loved every minute of their interaction with each other. Their sexy playful banter, their intensity and their love ignited the pages. While I wasn't as drawn to them as Shane and Josie, I still connected with them as a reader, and was cheering them on every step of the way.

Sweet Revenge is definitely a book that, in my opinion, must NOT be read as a standalone. As book 2, in a Romantic Suspense series that has a continuing story arc, there are developments and scenes that will not make sense, or be quite as powerful, if read as a standalone. In order to fully love and appreciate this phenomenal series, I feel that it needs to be read in order.

Ms. Zanetti delivered an extraordinary story with Sweet Revenge. I have to know more about this family of brothers and, after reading the teaser from Blind Faith (book 3), I simply cannot wait for the next installment. If you haven't read this commanding Romantic Suspense series yet, you are absolutely missing out!

Wow. If you haven't read 'Forgotten Sins', go do so now, as these books are heavily linked with a continuing plot. I love Rebecca Zanetti's writing style; she never fails to make you fall in love with her heroes and Matt Dean has become my new favourite man.

If you loved Shane in the first book, wait until you become fully acquainted with Matt. I had an inkling I was going to love him from the part he played in FS, he still surprised me. He is the protector of the family and he will do anything to save his, Shane and Nate's lives. Ending up in quiet Charmed, he meets Laney and whilst she offers his a job and a place to stay, it soon becomes more. I loved them both and their chemistry is just sizzling...

"The second you make contact, I’ll have you on that bar, held tight, my **** pressed between your legs, my lips on yours until you beg for more. Even fully clothed, I may make you come and I won’t care who’s watching."

Oh yes, our boy Mattie has a wonderful way with words.

It's heartfelt, touching, sexy and passionate, filled with intrigue, action and suspense. Laney is a loveable strong yet vulnerable lady and you simply can't not want them to find happiness together. Add in surprises to the storyline I didn't see coming and it really was a perfect read which has left me aching for more. I cannot wait to read Nate's book and see how the story of these genetically engineered gods and their ladies unfolds.

I think I can describe this book in five words: heart thumping, knickers melting suspense. Yes, I know that should be 3 words when they are hyphenated but I needed to emphasis each word. I absolutely loved this book.

Matt is some kind of GM soldier who has been engineered to be the perfect killing machine. Except he isn't a cyborg or anything like that. He is all human. The perfect man—built like a warrior but with the sensitivity to love perfectly. He is on a mission to find the person that can save him and his brothers before he is terminated.

Laney is strong, beautiful, witty and also has her own mysterious past that she is running from. When these two meet, the sexual tension of the book rises to simmering and threatens to boil over. I just loved their interactions—beautiful and sensual—and you just watch them falling hard for each other even when they don't want to admit it to themselves.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I actually believed it was possible to create human beings with acute hearing and x-ray visions while I was reading this. So sci-fi but so plausible. That's right. The author made me belief every single word of this story.

Of course, the suspense just kept me turning the pages as I wondered if Matt will find the woman in time and if Laney's past will destroy what they have going. You're going to have to read this book to find out how it pans out. If you love romantic suspense then prepare yourself to be left breathless at the end.

If so, will he have a story? This was the first book that I have read from this author. I am totally hooked on this series. I ordered the first book Forgotten Sins from the store and can't wait to read it. If you love romantic suspense I believe you will love this book!(

Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti

A five star romantic suspense by Rebecca Zanetti. The hero is an elite skilled warrior that doesn't understand the softer side of women. He made me want to protect him even though he thinks he knows what's best in all situations. He takes a beating and just gets up and continues to stand in front of her. Swoon worthy! And the heroine? She is strong and independent and not about to take orders from anyone. And she would protect him just as much. You can almost see the two of them jockeying for the front position. I especially like how the heroine is helping the homeless and disadvantaged without fanfare. Very nice philanthropy message without being preachy.
Great chemistry between the two. Second in the series but easily stands alone.

"Delicate and soft women were a mystery to him....and he steered clear."
"A pathetic gratefulness filtered through him at being allowed to keep her hand"[in his].

Matt Dean is a genetically enhanced soldier brought up with his brothers in captivity of a "war department". Now that they've escaped, the family needs to find the doctor responsible for surgically implanting a time bomb I to each of them. They have narrowed down the location of the doctor to Charmed, Idaho.
Laney Jacobs owns a bar in Charmed and is immediately drawn to hurt soldier in the alley. She hires him as temporary bouncer. And why not make him a temporary lover as well?

I am really enjoying this series. I love the slight paranormal aspect...it's nothing too over the top...more sci-fi, actually, with these genetically modified commando brothers rebelling against the evil secret government team that created them.

Matt is the oldest brother, and therefore has always felt responsible for his three younger siblings. The supposed death of the youngest brother, Jory, hit him very hard. Since Shane admitted to thinking he saw evidence that Jory was alive, Matt has been fighting against all hope, trying to be realistic about their situation. And right now, his main objective is to track down the doctor that implanted the microchips near their spines...the devices set to explode in six weeks, severing their spinal cords and ending the Gray brothers.

So Matt tracks the lady doctor to the town of Charmed and narrows down the possible candidates. His entrance into town is, of course, somewhat unorthodox...stumbling into the bar with a knife slash across his torso is a good way to gain unwanted attention. Fortunately, he gains the attention of the lovely, kindhearted, but somewhat reclusive bar owner, Laney Jacobs.

Laney has been running from her past as well, and she has secrets to rival those of Matt. These two embark on a sexy little journey of love, lust, hidden identities, and life-altering secrets. Matt fights his feelings because not only is he fated to die soon, but because his focus needs to be on saving his brothers. Laney fights the mutual attraction because she instinctively knows that Matt is a man who brings danger to her world, and if there's one thing that she's had enough of in her life, it's danger.

I love the familial aspect in this series. Since book one, when Shane reunited with his wife, all of the brother took her into the fold and now consider her one of their own. I just love that...I adore the protective side of a soldier, that innate sense of responsibility for those around them, the deep seated need to protect those that they consider theirs. Zanetti does it well here, not to mention some very spicy sexy times and long stretches of action that made it hard to stop reading. I am now completely invested in these characters and hoping against all hope that we get a fourth book...because that means that not only does Nate get a book (talk about dropping a bomb on that guy!) but also that Jory somehow made it out of his deadly predicament.

REVIEW:
Matt Dean has always protected those he love. He stood up for his brothers when he was little. He fight to keep them safe from everything and everyone. But failing his youngest brother has been the hardest then he has ever had to go through. But he still has two brothers left that need him. The need him to complete his latest mission in order to save them all. But oh the wicked twists of fate are about to bring dear old Mattie to his knees.

Laney is a woman who knows that it is just a matter of time before he past catches up with her. A past that she doesn’t ever want to relive. But when a tall, dark and very dangerous man finds his way into her life, for just one moment she let’s her guard down. In that moment everything changes, and not all of the changes are for the better.

Loved this books. Loved Mattie & Laney. Loved that Emery.... well you will just have to read and find that out. This was a great second book in Rebecca’s Sins Brothers series. I am so looking forward to Nate’s book and uncovering all the dark secrets that this brother holds.
If you have not read book 1 Forgotten Sins, I would highly suggest that you do. While I think you could read Sweet Revenge and be okay. I really think that you need to know the Gray Brother’s history and to do that you need to read Forgotten Sins.

There are plenty of reviews on this book and about how great it is. I too enjoyed it. I thought it was a fun and entertaining read. The characters were both developed and likeable. However, there was one part about the book that really bugged me. I know it's a pet peeve, and I should probably let it go. But, it could have been really easily fixed if the author had done a teensy bit of research on military and the terminology used within.

If you're going to write about Marines in a book, please for the love of God commit these 3 following things to memory.

1. Marine is spelled with a capital M. Always. It's a title, a proper noun.
2. Marines are never referred to as "ex-Marines" (except in the case of a dishonorable discharge). Once a Marine, always a Marine. Those no longer active or reserve can also be called "former Marine".
3. A Marine is a Marine. They are never called soldier, sailor, or airman. Ever (unless you want to die). You can use "warrior" or "military personnel", but Marine (or their rank) is always the best title. It has been earned and they take great pride in it.

I know that in the book Matt is actually a genetically engineered soldier, not a Marine. However, he pretends to be a Marine (ugh) in the beginning and Laney's brother was a Marine who died in combat. All-in-all these two should've known what they were talking about.

Other than the frequency in which these rules were broken (especially in the first chapter) that may have caused me to grind my teeth down to dull little nubs, I really enjoyed this book. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series (yeah, I read them out of order. So what?). Hopefully the 1st and 3rd books don't have any Marines in them...

WOW, WOW, WOW...I fell in love with the characters when I read Forgotten Sins but Rebecca really delivered in this one.

This story is between Matt Dean and Laney Jacobs and the chemistry between them is smoking hot. Matt Dean is a mercenary, who along with his brothers where created to be killing machines by our government. But this group of brothers is so much more due to the fact they have each other which brought out their compassion, love, and sense of family even though they had none growing up. They have to stick together because they can't trust anyone...they only have each other. The ones who created them want them back.

Laney Jacobs has secrets and has done things she doesn't want to remember, so she creates a new life in a small town called Charmed, Idaho.

Matt needs to find the surgeon who put the time bombs in him and his brothers and she is in Charmed, Idaho.

The government wants to stop him.

Matt meets Laney and the tension and sparks fly. They both have secrets they can't share. They both are running out of time from the evil stalking them. Will they learn to trust each other? Can they? Will Laney learn to trust Matt with not only her life but her heart? Can Matt learn that someone other than his brothers will be there for him, care for him and possibly love him?

This book has intrigue, suspense, and romance. I'm so glad I found Rebecca Zanetti, she is now one of my must read authors.

I read Sweet Revenge right after I finished reading Forgotten Sins so I was more than ready to continue the story. This book definitely secured my thinking that I found my next favorite romantic suspense read.

Matt Dean definitely had my interest in Forgotten Sins so I was anxious to see where he would take me. I was not disappointed. He was sweet but then when times got tough or he was thrown for a loop, he turned into an alpha-bada**. But what made that special, is that he was still able to let his feelings towards one Laney Jacobs shine and I couldn't have been happier with the pairing.

Laney was a kick butt chick in her own right. Bar owner, softie for all creatures needing help, a just an all around good person. She is definitely one I'd want in my corner because she proved that she can step up when under pressure.

Which leads me to the plot of the story. It's fast paced, sexy-as-all-get-out, and utterly addicting. I was so engrossed with the story that I did not see the twists and turns coming. And one of them has me hoping there is possibly one more book to go in this series. I'm crossing my fingers!!!

If you love a good read with action, an awesome romance story, and a storyline that progresses naturally, go get this immediately! I LOVED it!

Matt Dean, a genetically enhanced black-ops solider, has gone rogue along with his brothers. He is on a mission to find the doctor who implanted the ticking time bomb that will sever his spine in six weeks. Matt has followed the trail to Charmed, Idaho. Now, he will have his work cut out for him trying to flush out his target. Laney Jacobs is the distraction Matt doesn't need, but can't seem to do without. Laney is targeted by a serial killer and Matt becomes the prime suspect. How will Matt get out of this mess? Will he be able to save Laney? What about the mission?

<u>Sweet Revenge</u> is one of those adrenaline pumping, nail biting, action-packed reads that you will not want to put down. Matt is one tough, determined solider with a sensitive side, but that could be the very weakness his enemy uses against him. Laney has her own secrets she is running from but she is always willing to help others. Their chemistry definitely fogged up my glasses. I look forward to reading the next installment.

The second book into this series and it is still going strong. Matt Dean was even sexier than his brother Shane Dean and this story goes even deeper than the first. I can’t believe the twist and turns that Zanetti threw at us in this book.

Matt’s entire goal is to find the surgeon that inserted the chips into him and his brother’s neck and that is set to explode in six weeks. He finds the city of Charmed and knows that the surgeon that used to work for the Commander lives there so his goal is to find her. However, he finds Laney, a bartender/bar owner who is in need of a bouncer/bartender. Matt finds his cover and starts working and realizes what a truly good person Laney was. I loved how into the community she was, it made it easier to forgive her later on in the book.

But then it happens, everything spins out of control and I was shocked with the plot that Zanetti presented. I didn’t even see it coming! But more importantly, the Commander comes makes an appearance and you know as a reader, it is only going to get more crazy in the future books.

The Sins Brothers series is a great and I cannot wait for Nate’s story.

"Sweet Revenge" by Rebecca Zanetti. This is the second book in the Sin Brothers Series. It's the story of Matt and Laney. Matt is in search of a doctor that can save him and his brothers. He comes across Laney who is in need of a bartender/bouncer in her bar so she hires him. Laney is hiding and running from something but it's not revealed for a while. She feels safe having big, strong Matt around, even if it's temporary. Right from the start, I liked Matt - he was dedicated to his mission but was also a very protective person of anyone that he cared for. Laney took a little longer for me to like - once I knew her story, though, I found it easier to understand her. This story had romance, action and drama - there were some surprises which I like - not everything went the way I thought it would. I haven't read the first book of the series yet ("Forgotten Sins") but I look forward to it. Even though I hadn't read the first book, it didn't effect this story - there was enough background given to understand what Matt and his brothers were facing. (Received a copy from NetGalley)

I received a copy of this book from the author for a honest review.

Sweet Revenge is a true thriller with a touch of SciFi and a lot of romance. Matt Dean, the main male character, and Laney Jacobs, the main female character, are running from the same organization and the same person. Neither realizes who the other is at first. When they get together there are sparks flying in every direction and danger is coming for both. The book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time as the tension never let up. If you like a thriller with a big dose of romance this is a good book for you.

Sweet Revenge is the second book in the series so do not expect the find any solution to the danger Matt, Laney, and Matt’s brothers are facing. There is a lot of action, some surprises, and characters who are not who they seem. What does happen is that the tension is ramped up, a new romance is in the air and facts are discovered that set up the next book and the next brother’s story. The main danger, the chip with an expiration date is still there. There are four brothers and two books to go so don’t expect that problem to go away in the next book.

Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti is just another example of the author’s ability to write interesting, action packed suspense romance. Like the paranormal DARK PROTECTORS series ( aformer favorite of mine but this series has now taken over that place), family is still an important part of the story. Matt is the oldest of 4 brothers who are medically enhanced for military purposes. They had no say so in this happening to them when they were born or created. There is lots of suspense, secrets and villains galore. The title suggests that the family gets their revenge but that is only partially achieved in this second in this series story, which now means I can hardly wait for the next in the series. Therefore, I hope that Ms. Zanetti is feverishly writing Nate’s story even now. Even better is if it is finished, and ready to be published soon.

The second of the Sin series, Sweet Revenge, picks up several weeks after the first ended. The kill chips are still set to detonate and little progress has been made on finding the third brother. In an effort to find the doctor that implanted the chips, Matt heads to Charmed, Idaho, where he meets Laney Jacobs. Not long after Matt arrives a serial killer starts targeting the single women in town. Though initially the serial killer storyline seems to detract from the tension surrounding the brother’s fight to remain alive, it ends up tying together in Zanetti’s capable hands. Matt soon discovers that Laney is not quite who she seems, though in the end that doesn’t seem to matter as their attraction takes over. I really enjoyed Laney and Matt and can’t wait to see where the next book goes.

I love all of Rebecca’s books and Sweet Revenge is no different. I loved both Matt and Laney. I love that even though Matt is on a mission, he’s still willing to follow his heart. I also admired Laney and that she’s willing to put herself on the line to help others. The horrors these two were put through in the past just broke my heart. I loved that this book kept me guessing till the very end about who exactly Matt was after. I knew he was looking for a specific doctor, but just who that doctor is was kept a mystery throughout. I also love that the Sin brothers are willing to give up everything for their women. That just makes me want to swoon. I’m so looking forward to Nate’s book. I can’t wait to read his story. Overall this is a very fast-paced, well-written story. It has suspense, action, adventure, and romance.

This book pretty much picks up where book one ends with Shane and is about Matt. Matt shows up in Charmed to find the doctor they have been searching for for years. They finally got a lead on her whereabouts and Matt is sent to find her. He ends up meeting Laney in an alley while he is bleeding from some injuries. She ends up passing out at the sight of his blood. Matt tends to his injuries while she is still out cold. He decided to use her bar for his cover while in town and convinces her to hire him.

This book is action packed and this has to be one of my new favorite series. It is a truly amazing story about a group of engineered soldiers on the run to find a way to stop a chip from detonating in their spines. Laney has her own past that she is running from and while they both agree to temporary, they end up getting more than they bargained for. I can not wait for the next book in this series which is Nate's.

Sweet Revenge is the second book in the Sin Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti that revolves around the Dean brothers who were genetically engineered as part of a black ops division of the government. The boys were created and raised in a lab but they made their escape when they were older and are now on the run trying to survive. If you read my review of Forgotten Sins you know that I instantly fell in love with the brothers from the prologue of that book and I really enjoyed Shane and Josie’s story. Matt and Laney’s story was even better and this book put Ms. Zanetti on my auto-buy list!

On top of being hunted by the group that they abandoned, they all have chips implanted in their spines that will kill them if they don’t enter a new code every five years. They are 6 weeks away from that deadline and Matt is on the hunt looking for one of the doctors that can save his brothers, when he gets a lead that sends him to Charmed, Idaho. On the way there he is jumped and arrives in the alley of a bar bleeding. There are three doctors in town that Shane cannot find background information on and with the tight deadline Matt doesn’t have time to be injured. As he’s resting in the alley Laney Jacobs comes out of the bar she owns and sees the injured man. Instead of using caution and running back inside she immediately goes to his aid and brings him into the bar – where she faints when she sees the blood.

Shane’s book was really more about bringing us in to the story, giving the essential background and building the characters while in Matt’s book the focus is on finding anyone that can help them stop the chip from killing them. We learned a lot more about the agency they worked for and got to know each of the brothers a little better. Even though the locations change, Zanetti has written the books in a way that we don’t need to see the brothers together all the time to know the bond that they have and that point is the heart of the series.

As the oldest, Matt had the difficult task of training his brothers harshly in order to save their lives. He protects them and puts them first and his main concern is their’s and Josie’s safety. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to find out how to stop that chip and the sexy bartender is the perfect cover. She is looking for a bouncer for a bike rally that travels through once a year for two weeks and she hires Matt, instinctively knowing that she can trust him. The three doctors that Matt needs to investigate are customers of the bar so he is able to gain access to them fairly quickly, but his judgment is becoming clouded by his attraction to Laney and his growing feelings for her. For the first time in his life he wants something more than just his brothers.

I really liked both Matt and Laney. Matt could snap your neck in a second but he is extremely protective of people he cares about, and as a serial killer puts Laney in his sights, Matt is determined to make sure she stays alive. Lately I find I skim through a lot of sex scenes because it kind of feels like you are reading the same thing over and over, however in this book the chemistry was so hot and the sex scenes were done so well I read every word. Laney doesn’t take orders from Matt (unless its in the bedroom), and she is a strong, confident woman who obviously has her own demons and secrets. The two agree that this is just temporary and they want to make the most of it. But as both the Commander and the serial killer close in both realize their feelings run a lot deeper than temporary.

I LOVE being surprised in a book. Sometimes I read a book and I think I have things figured out and then it doesn’t work out but this book gave me numerous surprises. I was wrong in which Doctor I thought was the “one” Matt was looking for, I was wrong about who the serial killer was and there were a few scenes and surprises that had me re-reading because I was sure I had read it wrong. There were a couple of WTF I didn’t see that coming moments and I literally could not stop reading. I was up until 4am finishing it because I had to know how it ended. The tease at the back of the book for Nate’s book was just plain torture since we have to wait until May for the next one!

I have already recommended this series to all of my friends and if you like a tortured alpha male who’s not overbearing, and strong female leads then you are going to love this series! It is fast-paced, the “character story” and overall plot of the book weave together perfectly and at the end I was frantically searching Ms. Zanetti’s website to find out when the next one comes out. I cannot wait for Nate’s story to release and to see where some of the plot points are going to end up!

What is a 5-star read for me? A book that grabs me, and that I can't put down. This was that book! It kept me up all night!

My favorite genre is romantic suspense. This book fed my appetite like no other. This is the second book in the Sin Brothers series about the sexy, hot, alpha-male Dean Brothers. I have to say, it is only getting better! The books are not stand-alone, so treat yourself to the first book, Forgotten Sins, before you read this one.

Matt Dean has been engineered by the government to be the perfect soldier – with an expiration date. With time running out, he goes rogue in an attempt to save himself and his brothers. Laney Jacobs does not need romantic involvement. She’s running from her own past demons. Try as she might to resist the phenomenally hot Matt Dean, she melts at the mere sight of him. He also makes her feel safe and protected. They are an explosive combination!

Build-up to the action was preceded by the romance, which I liked. When things started happening - watch out! What an adrenaline rush! I was on the edge of my seat! I can’t say too many times how much I LOVED this book. It fulfilled everything and more that I crave in my romantic suspense addiction! I’m waiting anxiously and VERY impatiently for the next book in this series. Rebecca Zanetti has become an auto-buy author for me.

When I received this book and realized that it was number in a series, I had to go and read book one before I read this. I'm very glad that I did. Book one Forgotten Sins gives you a great background for the series and should definitely be read first in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. This novel is about Matt, the oldest and protector of the group. Part of his role is to protect his brothers and to help them track down and destroy the sub military group that is after them and their special skills. This book had some paranormal aspects to it with how the men were "enhanced" as children. Being that I like books with this theme, I didn't mind this. It kind of reminded me in a way of Christine Feehan's GhostWalkers a little bit in that respect. The relationship between Laney and Matt was terrific. I loved that she pushed back and didn't just cave in. I also really liked that Matt wasn't aware of the significance of Laney's past till later in the book. Overall this installment was enjoyable. The only part I had trouble with was the use of one of the plot devices. It confused things a little bit for me but not enough to make me completely dislike the book.

I can't wait for Nate's book next!

In this second installment, we meet the oldest brother, Matt, tortured by his failure at protecting his youngest brother, Jory, and finding the means to prevent the chip implanted in their spine by Commander (evil, crazy creator) from exploding. Laney decides he is the man for her, and the story of how this couple is exciting - lots of action, hot sexy scenes between the main characters, continuation of a story with "enhanced" men discovering their basic humanity against almost overwhelming odds because the woman makes it happen. Set aside several hours to get through this book, you will not want to put it down!

Aah big brother Matt Dean. I looked forward to this read and as usual Zanetti does not disappoint. It starts off a little slower than Shane’s story but I love the whole injured soldier thing going on. The build up to Laney’s secret hints to an abusive past and then wham! The truth is out and I loved it. Especially since the “Doctor” is painted as a true, heartless villain.

Laney wasn’t as feisty of a character as Josie but still a strong independent woman.

As per usual, the intrigue builds through the first half and then the second half of the books involves action, drama, kidnapping and all levels of kick-assery.

Besides the fact that the brothers are loyal to a fault, I love how, despite any previous drama and doubts, they accept new people as family. And once you’re in, your IN!
A real page turner. I expect nothing less from Rebecca Zanetti

This is the second book in this Sins Brothers series from Rebecca Zanetti, and I must say I wish I had read book one. This book stood alone alright on it's own, but when I went back for book one, I was a bit spoiled, so recommend you read in order. But I definitely recommend you read this series!
\That caveat aside, this was an excellently written superbly plotted story. Ms. Zanetti is a talented writer who has created a believable world and populated it with strong fully dimensional characters. The twists and turns in the story were many and startling. I stayed up way too late on this one. Pacing was fast, dialogue witty, settings beautiful and the characters - excellent.

Absolute adrenaline rush. This book kept the pages turning. I didn't even want to stop to eat dinner even though my stomach rumbled to take a break. Not all the characters were what I would have thought them to be, but that made the story all the better. Laney, for me anyway, was quite the surprise (enjoyable surprise, I should add). I did feel as though I was waiting a bit on action, but when it hit - boy did it hit. The romance works nicely as well.
This is a must read (and make sure you have time before you start, because you won't want to be interrupted).

Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti is full of adventure, danger, and romance!

Matt Dean was created in a test tube, as were his three brothers. They were engineered to have special skills, mostly to be soldiers, as were several other men in a mysterious compound. Matt and his brothers have since escaped the commander and the doctors who created them, only to discover that they had chips implanted near their spinal cords that are set to destruct in six weeks. Matt’s goal is to find the doctor who planted the chips and get them removed or deactivated, so that him and his brothers can truly be free.

Enter Laney Jacobs. The pretty bartender discovers Matt outside her bar with a knife wound and promptly passes out. She offers Matt a job as a bouncer, and soon begins to fall for the sexy soldier. Matt knows he needs to keep his focus on the mission and finding the surgeon, but he finds himself getting distracted by Laney, the sweet bar owner who may have more secrets than she’s letting on.

I loved this novel a lot! It’s the second in the Sins Brothers series, but it can be read as a stand alone and you can still mostly understand what’s happening. Matt is a great leading man to read about. He’s strong, dangerous, and loves his brothers more than anything else. He’s protective, but not to the point where it’s annoying. He wants to do what he can to help others around him.

Laney was fun as well. She kept Matt on his toes, and doesn’t have a problem putting him in his place when she feels as though he’s going too far. She doesn’t always succeed in putting him in his place, but she definitely tries. The chemistry between the two of them was amazing. They had great banter going, and they both tried their best not to get emotionally attached, both for their own reasons.

The plot is really intriguing, and something I haven’t read about before. Whatever compound the brothers were born at is engineering soldiers for some reason (It might have been explained in the first novel, or it could just be a mystery waiting for a big reveal at the end of the series). The boys are taught to fight and kill pretty much from the time they’re born. Some of the men at the compound had no problem killing, but Matt and his brothers always wanted their freedom, and they’re really close to getting it.

The book was paced really well and left me hanging on the edge of my seat. Never was there a time where I was really bored, or I thought things were moving too slow or too quickly. The bedroom scenes were just steamy enough to be hot, but not enough to detract from the fact that there is so much else going on, like the fact that Matt may only have six weeks to live.

I’m giving Sweet Revenge 5 out of 5 controllers. Great plot, great characters, well written, and the perfect mix of edge of your seat action with steamy romance scenes to leave you wanting more.

I like the premise of this series. There are 4 brothers who have been enhanced by "The Commander". All their senses are multiplied and they are the top soldiers. They are looking to get away and have their freedom. Rebecca must have done lots of research for all her military tactics in her books. This is the first time I read one of her books. I will be looking for more of her books. As I got farther into the book I found that as much as I liked the book I had to walk away to regather myself. That's how I know it's a good story. I hope you try this series. You won't regret it. I didn't.

Another new series for me that has added to my TBR list!

Matt is investigating the death of his youngest brother, which leads him to Charmed, Idaho, where he meets Laney. Their attraction is passionate, and the love and sexual attraction add to the tension created by their pasts, and the ticking clock that keeps you turning pages.

The family aspect of the heroes makes this an even better read, and you’re bound to do like I did and put Rebecca Zanetti on your auto-buy list.

The Gray brothers continue their demand for a way to deactivate their chips and to find the truth about their younger brother and his eventual death. Pursuing a lead, Matt travels to Charmed, a small town where he covers as a bouncer at Lacey's bar.

Matt and Lacey soon find them sharing passionate feelings and the danger from a seria killer brings them closer yet to each other.

This book was an excellent continuation of the Grey/Dean brothers story. The brothers were genetically engineered by a shadowy branch of the government and were virtual prisoners of "the commander," a man who used their loyalty for their brothers against them.
This newest installment is Matt's story of trying to track down the surgeon who implanted the deadly chips that threaten to be activated in six weeks time, killing the brothers.

Love this series ! This is the second of this series of brothers that are genetically altered soldiers. This is Matt's story who to me seems the most alpha of the brothers. He goes rogue looking for the doctor who can 'cure' them .
He finally ends up in a bar which Laney owns looking for work. There is a strong attraction between them from the beginning! Matt needs a strong woman and Laney is that woman....but they both have secrets.
atching them fall in love and the adventure that follows is a must read!!! ....and HOT!

I read this book without the benefit of reading the first book. I didn't have any trouble jumping right in and understanding the characters and the storyline.

This book has a really intense love story which I really enjoyed. There is also a murder mystery thread that helped keep the tension. I did find myself skipping over the action sequences because for my taste in romance books I prefer to keep the action at a minimum and the dialog at a maximum. :)

Excellent start to another fantastic Rebecca Zanetti series!

This is a ok book with a lot of action. The only problem I had with it was how it ended. The main focus of the book wasn't resolved by the end even in the epilogue. Matt is hunting for the doctor responsible for the device threatening him and his brothers life, the only lead he's got is the little town of Charmed. Chance has him working as a bouncer while investigating.
Laney's got her bar in town, and a dark past she doesn't want to talk about. She seems to need help and protection, and when a serial killer targets her, Matt can't help but take charge.
Military suspense, action and smutty fluff, and a great series I need to continue with.

The prior book was stunning. This one is pleasant yet sometimes annoying.

Our hero is a genetically engineered super soldier. She is a bartender with something to hide, and while I understand her not confiding in him, not telling the reader is a very annoyinng and offputing ploy. He is in town on a secret investigation and they fall for eachother hard, but need to learn trust.

Pleasant read but forgettable,.

Mattie's story, while still great, hasn't been my favorite of the series. There were too many things happening, too many people lieing, too many coincidences. I did enjoy Matt and Laney finding eachother and finding their peace. A good portion of a great series.

-Thank Net Galley for an ARC in return for an honest review.-

Impressive book. My adrenaline was pumping reading this exciting novel.
We have Matt Dean a very Hot alpha- male and Laney Jacobs who is irresistible to him.
Fast -paced, with vibrant writing, suspense and many twists and turns. It was a interesting story.

Can Matt and his brothers find the surgeon who planted kill switches in their spines before the commander finds them. Can Matt find love with Laney and still protect his brothers. Will they ever find Jory the youngest Gray brother or is he really dead,

This was a great book and a stand alone although I wish I'd read the first book just to have the back ground information on the Gray brother's and Shane's story. This was a great romantic, suspense, ex-military book. There were some unexpected twists that I never saw coming. Loved it! Can't wait for Nate's story!

Suspenseful romance in spades with enough heat to keep you interested in spite of a sub-plot that fails to deliver, this is a very good read. All the elements of a military special ops hero trying to find his true place in the world and the woman who will ground him are enjoyably present. I really liked this one.

I thought this was a fun romance. Great writing and a good storyline-intriguing, with just enough twists and turns to avoid being formulaic. I would read something from this author again. She definitely could teach a course in writing sexy and steamy scenes, without being crude.

This is the second book in the series, and it was really good. I loved how the story keep moving. Lots of action and great character development. Love how Laney and Matt worked out their differences. Can't wait to read Nate's story.

I've read the series and I enjoy the battle, both inside and out, if all the characters. There's an intense stronghold to the family unit and the power of belonging, and also the need for individual strengths, as always, Zanetti provides a good read x
