Wow. This book took you on twists and turns and when I wanted to throw it away it grabbed me again. Now the language is terrible, I dislike swearing in a book and this one had too much of it. The story line was engrossing, though. The complete evil of some people is really disturbing especially since the author never really gave a 'good' reason for it, not that there ever is. I was glad to be done with it because you really wanted the good guys to at least survive!

This book was refreshing for me to read since it's written from the perspective of the villian(s)
I read it on my Kindle under the covers at night when I couldn't sleep. It gives one a chance to see evil
and sexuality all wound up together. Recommend if you like reading about evil people. It reminded me of the Jim Thompson
novels.

Wasn't sure what to expect, turned out to be a fine piece of writing and a story with characters that slowly suck you in. You have to stay with it in the beginning, and are rewarded with really getting to know the characters and the plot/story. The further you go, the better it is. I wish there was more to the story near the end, could have been several other tie-ins based on some of the history you are allowed to glimpse. Also, could have evolved into more of a ghost story too, but anyway, this was well worth the read. I was totally satisfied, more so than with many of the other books I recently read.

Good story with lots of flawed characters struggling with redemption and revenge. I would have liked an epilogue but it was a good story that left me pondering all the different scenarios which befell the characters after wards.

The Survival of Thomas Ford is an intense read that gripped me from the start and had me hooked through the last page. The characters are so well developed that I will be seeing them in my mind for a long time. Reminds me of the of dark, layered stories that Guy Ritchie brings to life in his films. I highly recommend this book.

Not often do I say - "this is a must read" -- an amazing saga of an automobile accident and the consequences of that event. The plot and the unbelievably unusual characters keep your eyes on the page wanting more. Not only are people important in this story -- the author gives cars, cats, (not dogs), birds, butterflies and the earth itself a voice in this story. A well written book that will linger in your thoughts when you come to the end.

This book is very unsettling. The characters are distasteful and their individual and collective behaviors/thought processes are appalling, and that's putting it mildly. I kept reading, convinced that there would be some redeeming value, but I was wrong.

I would read a few pages every time I picked up the book but couldn't stay with it. I thought the character Thomas Ford was unrealistic, too weak and lacked some human traits. At first, the writing wasn't clear and at the end it made no sense. This book has the makings of a good book but didn't accomplish it.

This was a free book through the store. I read a wide variety of genre so a mystery is nothing new. When I first started reading I thought it was full of typos and that the editor had really screwed up proofing the book but then I figured out that the story was taking place in England. The story opens with an accident were Ford and his wife are run off the road, crash through a barrier, into a Loch. Ford's wife dies in the crash and Ford spends a number of weeks in a coma. When wakes up he finds out that his wife dies, and her parents are blaming him. The police have to clear the case and they really don't spend anytime looking for the car that caused the accident. They we get into blackmail and trying to get something for nothing. The ending was a complete shock. Go ahead and read this book because I'm not telling you what happens.

While I found this book hard to put down but I did feel that the constant use of profanities was completely unnecessary. If Logan's other books use the same kind of language, I won't read any more of them.
That said, I found the book intriguing and the characters believable. I would recommend it with the caution of the language used throughout. It really wasn't necessary for the author to use the "F_ _ _" and the "c_ _ _" words as often as he did.

This is the best novel I have read in a few years. I can't believe I got it for free and found a consummate writer. This tale was nothing short of riveting. It is rich in character development, mood and atmospherics. It is a story of evil, greed, power that corrupts(not in a political context), and the domino effect of trying to cover up the initial crime that may have been less serious than what follows. Folks, this is great literature and a first class story told by a magnificent craftsman.I have no interest whatsoever in the book, but I urge you to buy this one.

Nature vs Nurture?
The Survival of Thomas Ford is a no-holds-barred look into the mind of a socio-path. The actions of the antagonist are as hypnotic as a snake-charmer. Who raised this demonoid? Was this heredity, or was his soul beaten out of him? Is he seeking his father's approval? His mother's? Or simply his own sense of completeness, in the utter and complete annihilation of another human being?
We know this: he is charismatic to the vulnerable, like a sweet, secret porn addiction. The reader is drawn into this titillating filth, and left feeling dirty and bereft by the switch to the pov of Thomas Ford, a minor player in his own survival, or lack thereof.
The ending creates the effect of a tree falling in the forest with no one around. Did it make a sound? Did it even happen?
You have to read this. Yes, really, you do.

I would say Thomas Ford is a pretty lucky guy. I enjoyed this book although I thought it was a little far out and the characters in it are pretty stupid all the way around. It had a pretty good ending but no surprise there.

Liked this book. Very fast paced. I really would have liked the authors explanation of the butterflies. Just to make sure I had it right. Now I just have to hope I understood what he was trying to say. Thanks for a good read.

When I started this book I almost gave up on it (something I never do) but persevered and was rewarded. The characters became intriguing and real. The events were unexpected but plausible. The story moved quickly with lots of mini-cliffhanger moments. Enjoyed it, recommend it heartily.

I wanted to like this book. Really. I wanted to. Reading other reviews and the book description, it should be intriguing. Should be. But it's not.
I read a lot of books and the bizarre doesn't bother me...I actually enjoy it. But this is just so badly written that I can't even stick with it long enough to finish it. I don't normally review books that I haven't finished. But a book that you have to be some kind of savant to even finish? I just can't let other people go down that road without at least one person saying they can't finish it.
It may be a personal preference issue, or a style issue, but I've been able to finish other books that are written in a different style than I prefer. This is just badly written. It's a huge disappointment for a story with such promise.

This book was somewhat OK. It did not appear to be written by someone in the United States. Wish there was a better explanation at the ending as to what the heck happened to the main characters in the end as three people were involved that would have been nice to know how they ended up. Kept me interested to the end but a bit too long.

I really enjoyed this book! I spent many late nights reading longer than I should have to see what happened next. I liked how the ending didn't tie everything up in a neat bow. It lets the reader decide what happened to the survivors down the road. I was a little concerned about the butterflies, wondering if it was going all mystical but it didn't. I was ready to download the author's next book but I'm not a fan of short stories.

I am not usually a fan of bloody, violent novels. But,even though I had to cringe to keep reading this one, I really enjoyed it. The suspense kept on building and that's what held my attention. The characters were well developed and you cared about them until the end - then you cared even more.
