My reaction on Artemis Fowl
I give my book 5 stars. My book is about a boy named Artemis, he is 13 years old, and he is a total nutcase. Artemis has been trying to find his father ever since he was 9 years old. His father disappeared on a plane. So his mother says.
Artemis noticed that when he was looking through pitchers that his dad looks kind of like his teacher.
The characters in this story are K'ell Goblin he is a very mean person who doesn't like tourists, Mud people they are people that do magic to help people with problems, Surveillance people they keep an eye on Leprechaun Town, Holy Artemis's psychiatrist, Fairies that tell people their future, Trolls big mean giant people who like terrorizing young children, Leprechauns the little people who rule Leprechaun town, Swear Trolls, Opal is a vampire who has been trying to get Artemis all his life, Technical Wizard who uses machines instead of a cane, the Butler he takes care of Artemis when his mother is at work.(Like his body guard from Opal the Vampire)
The big problems are, Artemis had a therapist that couldn't handle Artemis because, and he was such a nutcase. The leprechauns that owned the best psychiatric ward in the whole fairyland.
Artemis is got put with this lady named Holly; she is even worse then Artemis.
Artemis is still trying to find his father, his teacher looks just like a picture of his father.
Artemis was looking through old newspapers and he found out there was abduction, the same exact day that his father turned up missing. So Artemis is thinking that his father was abducted not dead.
The magical things of my story is, their was these things called leprechauns they are little green men who own this place called leprechaun town. They keep track of all the bad kids that come in and out of there. Then there are these fairies that help the little boys who get into trouble a lot. They pretty muchly stick by them like a devil and an angel that is telling you to do good things like the angel and why and the devil telling you to do bad things and why, the get them out of messes.
There is this broom for all the witches; it is something new called the Netrino 2,000. It is like the fastest flying broomstick ever, ever in all the witch ages.
There are mud-people that can make mud into gold right before your eyes.
In Ghost Town there is this lab that they take Swear Trolls to because Swear Trolls are the most powerful thing in all Ghost Town. They put them in a cave and run tests. The lab is called Kobi-labs.
Mad Cow is a disease that is kills off cows, so that the meat is bad. Mad cow was all over Ghost Town and the Swear Trolls put a spell on their town so that the disease wouldn't hit them, and it worked because it didn't even touch them.
In this book there is this really weird dwarf called a Sun Blinded Dwarf. If this certain dwarf gets even four feet to the sun they go blind.
Goblin photos are pictures that move after it already has been take, kind of like magic.
There was a couple of things that didn't really seem that realistic like, when the Mud people could turn mud into gold by just looking at it. Or when the Mad Cow skipped one herd of cows but got all the other cows around that pasture.
My story was really good and I think other people should read this too. If you are going to read this book make sure you don't have to do anything for a while because, this isn't one of those books that you read for a couple minutes then go and put it down.

While I'll admit, I have enjoyed the series so far, there are just four things I would like to say. First of all, sometimes it seems as though the books were written purely so that Colfer could express his enviormentalist views, which I find are presented in an offensive way that almost makes me want to drop the book in certain places.
Second, while the faerie people (excuse me if I have the wrong termonology) are more techologically advanced then humans, they also seem to be enviormentally friendly, which I don't think could plausibly happen. I think Colfer needs to explain this more. Also, the faerie characters seem to yak alot about us horrible mudmen without offering any true solutions :)
Third, what happened to Artemis? Despite being the coolest charater ever, he has little 'screen' time, which I found disappointing.
Fourth, I'd still recommend the book. Not to say you should rush out and buy out the bookstore, but it's a good read, and my complaints could very well be handled in the following volumes.

Again Eoin Colfer plunges you into the life of 13 year old Artemis Fowl Mud-boy genius and arch enemy of the people, especially Holly Short captain in the LEPrecon force. As always Colfer sweeps you in from the start but the book goes so fast that I felt he could have made it a little longer. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes to escape for a great romp thru the ever entangling lives of Artemis Fowl and captain Holly Short. This time Aretims's dad is in trouble with the Russian Mafyia and Artemis has to ask the LEP for help in rescuing him. While the rescue team is on route a coupe is happening in Haven that catches captain short, commander root, and even Artemis by surprise. Can they rescue Haven and still have time to rescue Artemis's father? You'll just have to read this one for yourself to find out.

Imagine, you had the brains to get what you wanted when you wanted it, except for one thing. That is Artemis's problem in the book Artemis's Fowl, the Arctic Incident, by Eoin Colfer. Artemis, is a thirteen year old criminal mastermind that has been in search of his father for years. He is smart and obnoxious. One day, he recieves a message from kidnappers claiming to have his father. He and his giant bodyguard Butler are on their way to rescue his father when he is stopped by captain Holly Short from the fairy police. The fairy police expect that Artemis is supplying goblins with illegal weapons. Artemis proves his innocence, and cut a deal that Artemis would help them find who was dealing illegal weapons if the fairies helped rescue his father. Soon the fairies discover sabotage and a whole new plot of mystery unravels. The fairies try to discover who the rat is, and save Artemis's dad.

I think that this is an okay book for anybody who enjoys science fiction. I personally do not enjoy science fiction because I like realistic things more, so I thought the book was okay but good at keeping your mind imagining. I would definitely recommend that you read the books before this one in the series. The author does a good job of trying to explain the previous events but you will enjoy the book more and the fairy world if you already know the characters and their personality. The set is a great for keeping your mind imagining.

The evil boy-genius criminal mastermind is at his evilest at the start of this funny and action-packed story. However, in Artemis' search for his father his heart does warm. A little bit. So does that of his fairy-cop enemy, Holly. A little bit.

The Arctic Incident is the second novel of the Artemis Fowl series which starts with Artemis Fowl, where I have a longer review. The series should be read in order.

Influenced by the success of the Harry Potter series, Eion Colfer returns with his second book about the anti-hero Artemis Fowl. This book contains dual plots with Artemis trying to rescue his missing father from the Russian Mafia, and helping the fairies save the world. When a mysterious ransom was demanded from the Russian mob, Artemis Fowl must require help from his past adversaries, the faeries, in order to rescue his long lost father from the hands of the Mafia. In exchange of their assistance, Artemis must aid the faeries in stopping an evil scheme that might wipe out the fairies. The second book contains a solid plot; however, it strays away from the kidnapping and evil schemes of the first book and wanders into a more heroic storyline.
A little bit of a disappointment this time, is the revelation of a more sensitive Artemis. Where the first Artemis book established Artemis as an evil criminal mastermind, and boy prodigy, The Artic Incident, has Artemis becoming ¡§friends¡¨ with the faeries that he once despised and he shows feelings of regret and loss for his father In doing this, Colfer has destroyed one of the ¡§cool¡¨ personality traits of Artemis Fowl that was established in the first book and distinguished Artemis as truly delicious character and not another Harry Potter ¡¥rip-off.¡¨ Do we really want Artemis to show these weak and pathetic emotions? What I really enjoyed about this book was the return of the fairies from the first book and this time the fairies are much more in-depth since the first book, where in the first book it focuses more on Artemis Fowl.
Overall, The Artic Incident is a solid sequel to Artemis Fowl. It shows a more sensitive side of Artemis but there is still enough evil to keep loyal fans happy. Hopefully in the next addition to the series, Colfer can return Artemis to his old truly evil self.
This book is recommended for 8 and above or anyone interested in taking over the world.

Artemis Fowl
By: Eoin Colfer
Reviewed by: C. Hannum
Artemis Fowl is not your typical teanage boy. He's the smartest human being the world's ever seen. He's searching for his father, who everyone thinks died in a boating acident. Artemis is determined to find his father even if it means teaming up with his worst enemies, the LEP otherwise knows as faries.
This book was good in many ways. It is a tale of courage and loyalty. Artemis is willing to team up with anyone who will help him get back the "one of the few he loves." The faries are willing to help him because he is willing to pay back the gold he stole from them.
Artemis is willing to take many risks in order to sve his father, even if they are life threatening. He has a plan and even he himself thinks "it might be a bit extreme."
My favorite part of the book was when Artemis was willing to do anything in order to save his father, even if it means to shoot him. Artemis's butler, Butler, is his best friend and even doubts Artemis's decision.

I higly recommened Artemis Fowl becacouse is about a kid who goes on a quest to find his dad. Lits of people thik he is dead. While l;okking for his dad he gets in trouble with the russians. Then he tries to stop them from their plan. Then Vassikin kills his own dad. One of my favorate characters is Artemis. Because it shows that he cares about his dad. One of my favorate lines is ' He shot his own him,' yelped the kholigany. 'that devil shot his own father.' I would recommend this book because about 1/4 of the book it started to make me laugh through the whole book. One question I have is why di Vassikin shot his own dad?

For all Fowl fans this is a must buy, but then so is it for all those bitten by Potter mania. While potty about Potter, it is absolutely delightful to read about Artemis Fowl and his escapades. "The Arctic Incident" is an absolutley welcome sequel to the first Artemis Fowl by Colfer.
The book is even better, hard to believe but true, than the first Artemis. Though a bit slow to take off, it takes the reader on a rollercaoster ride with Fowl, of course, and his arch enemy Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecaun --- Lower Elements People Reconnaisance for all you MUD PEOPLE.
A racy book with all the elements of a breezy thriller, The Artic Incident has all the elements of a fantastic page-turner, even as it reunites the Fowl family.
Like the Potter books, here too Artemis is an year older, well established in his career as a crinimal mastermind and yet one whose biggest failing is perhaps his heart and an occasional bout of conscience. He is a bounder, but an adorable that makes the reader clamour for more.

"Holly tucked a neutrino 2000 into it's holster, issuing commands through her helmets com-set:'code 14, reapeat code 14. Fairy down. Fairy down. We are under fire. E37. Send warlock medics and backup.' "
This is some LEPrecon squad fairy lingo from Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. This is a book that makes you laugh out loud and read in amazement about a thirteen-year-old criminal mastermind, some very futuristic (and tempermental) fairies, very stupid goblins, criminal dealings in the arctic, the theft of Oscar award trophies in Los Angeles, deliciously evil pixies, and more. I liked this Artemis Fowl book better than the first one, because it had more surprises, and a more seasoned Artemis. The thing you don't really think about when you read this book is that Artemis is a criminal; you're not supposed to be rooting for him. But you find yourself watching the battle from both sides, enjoying every minute. The rendition of fairies/pixies/dwarfs/goblins/centaurs in this book is so original, and much cooler than any other way I've read about them. Eoin Colfer's pixies and fairies have been forced underground by the existence of 'mud men' (humans), nevertheless technologically developing their society that makes for some interesting sci-fi parts in the book. I would recommend this book to people aged eight to fourteen, and to fans of Garth Nix, Philip Pullman, J.K. Rowling and Gillian Rubinstein.

"Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident" is easily the worst book I have read in my entire lifetime. This book is nothing like the first one: there is no plot here. Do not let the back cover mislead you; this book isn't about Artemis searching for his father. In fact, he does little to even look for him until the last chapter. Another plot is introduced about a quarter of the way into the book--a plot Artemis shouldn't even care about. The character of Artemis has changed, too. He is weaker, and has a simpler mind. There are typos, point of view issues, and other mistakes in "The Arctic Incident." Quite frankly, I'm surprised Miramax even published this book for Eoin Colfer. Do not waste your time on this book.

The mastermind is back, and he is even better! In this riveting tale, Artemis is at a boarding school when he recieves an e-mail with his father on it. To resque him, he must join forces with Captain Holly Short in order to save his father. This is an extrordinary book for readers young and old. If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you will surely love this book. It combines action, mystery, humor, and even puts a technological twist into it.

Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident was a very good and intresting book. What made it good and interesting was that it was filled with lots of action that kept you from putting down the book. But you'll have to read the first book to understand the stuff about "The Poeple".

THe story is about a young boy (13 years old to be exact.)who reiceives a message concerning his father who went missing for two years. And the message was about hie ransome. While during the same tome down below Lower elements police discovered that goblins are paying a human for tons of baterrys which is bad.So they suspect artemis fowl is behind this since he is the only human in the world who has had previous dealings with fairys. So Artemis teams up with the fairys to help them with the battery case in exchange for their help to help him rescue his father.

The protagonist in this book is Artemis Fowl and his goal is to rescue his father from a russian mafiya.the risks he takes to dot his is endanger himself many times and his father too.

So Artemes Fowl is a great book for those who love action and adventure books.I strongly recemmened you read this boook.

I loved this book from the first page, when I was introduced to Butler the butler, a truly ingenious name in my opinion. I can't get enough of it.
12 year old Artemis Fowl discovers the existence of huge colonies of fairies living underground, and is determined to use his knowledge to exploit them. He concocts a plan to kidnap a fairy (Captain Holly Short of the Lower Elements Police), hold her for ransom, and restore his family fortune. But these fairies aren't sweet little things who put tooth money under your pillow or live in flowers; these are fairies with attitude.
One great thing about this book is that you never know which side to cheer for, for Artemis is both the hero and the villain. Colfer combines fantastical folklore with high-tech, modern, magic to create a superbly original race of fairies. The dialogue is witty, both using and making fun of clichés, and the characters are wonderfully charismatic. Artemis Fowl is a great mix of all the things I love - fantasy, action, adventure, and comedy. The ending is perfect, down to the last sentence - 'But that's another story.'
I love how Colfer inserts little comments into the book that make you stop and wonder about the human race and what it's doing. One example is how Holly finds the idea of going to the bathroom in your own house repulsive, and is disgusted by the fact humans treat their waste with chemicals instead of returning it to the Earth as fertilizer. Colfer is very subtly making the reader to look at the way human life has evolved by challenging something as basic as the toilet.
I love Colfer's unique and very effective writing style, and I laughed until I cried at some parts. The only solid negative aspect I can find to this book is in the difficult technological terms used - Eoin Colfer certainly did his research before he wrote this book. And of course, even I found it hard to look past the repulsive glittery cover and begin to read it, although I forgave it by the third page. It only goes to bring out the truth in that good old saying 'Never judge a book by it's cover.'

This is the second book in the series, still an amazing book like the first one. We come back to everyone's favorite child mastermind, Artemis Fowl, but things are different this time.

Taking one year after the first book, we find young Artemis at a school in Ireland. He soon receives an email, showing a small, unclear footage of a man who appears to be his own father, who has been missing and presumed dead for many years of his life. At the same time a crisis is happening underground in the complex fairy cities, where a goblin gang is making attacks against the city, and surprising the LEPrecon with their clever tactics, tactics that are much too clever for goblins. Captain Holly Short returns to meet up with Artemis and his butler, but this time to join forces, instead of plotting each others death.

The book is still filled with plot twists, action, adventure, mystery, and even some comedy all thrown together into one book by the author Eoin Colfer. I highly (highly!) suggest reading this book. It is a well written book, and especially if you like fantasy novels, this is a book that all ages can enjoy.

I'm a 10 year-old kid, and I think Eoin Colfer really brought a new side to Artemis Fowl. Eoin finally shows that Artemis can do some dirty work, but there is a twist to it. It still has all of the action, techno, and comedy, but Artemis is a good guy who takes on many creatures that want to destroy and take over fairy land. This book is better than the first Artemis Fowl, and this would be great for anyone.

Another mischevious encounter in between a young boy and the underground world of magic. Finally Artemis gets the help that he needs to find his father and helps in return to take down some naughty trolls with Captain Short. I love the characters of these books and that they make a return in this second book of the series

I liked reading Artemis Fowl because there wre two main plots. Once one got boring the other part came in and made you keep on reading the book. This book was more exciting than the first one, but also more confusing. My favorite part was when Mulch Breaks into Maggie V's Apartment and trys to steal her Oscar. He meets up with some vicious dogs, but gets out by barking at them. The dogs freeze, and Mulch jumps out the window. That's just one of the great parts in this book. This book has a magnificent ending that nobody would expect.
Artemis Fowl is a thirteen-year-old boy who finds out that the Russian Mafia has taken his dad..They demand Five million dollars for his dad's return .The LEP is also having a problem. They need to know who is trading supplies like softnoses to the goblins. The goblins are using these weapons against the LEPrecon. At the end you would be surprised what Aretimis Fowl does to save his father.
People who like Suspence, Surprise, and Action will love this book. You don't need to like all those things to like book. If you read the first Artemis Fowl book and liked it this is a must read book for you. Fantasy is also a big part in this book. So fantasy lovers should read this book too.

Artemis Fowl two is awesome. Its even better than the first. It begins with Artemis in boarding school in Ireland. He gets a plea from a man that he thought dead: his father. He ends up teaming up with Holly and the LEPrecon so he could save one of the only people he loves.
I dont think Artemis gets enough credit. They think he's evil, but I think he doesn't know any better. His entire family is in to illegal activity.

Artemis Fowl The Artic Incident is an awesome sequel to the first book. Eoin Colfer, has once again created irresistable characters and we the readers are unable to put the book down until we find out what is going to happen to them.
Artemis is back and in top form. He has received word that his father is alive and being held hostage. Artemis has been instructed to deliver a very large ransom, but he has other plans. Using fairy technology and the help of captain Holly Short, and commander Julius Root, Artemis hatches his most dangerous plan yet. Over in Fairy World a former captain in the LEPrecon division is trying to take over...with the help of some unlikely creatures.
Will Artemis save his father in time? Will the evil captain take over the Fairy World? How will Captain Short make Artemis return the favor? I warned you...you won't be able to put this book down...

This book was one of the most amazing books I have ever read! Definitely up there with the Harry Potter books, this book has wit, humor, excitement and fantasy all in one! I just cant put the book down! The best thing about this book is that it does have fantasy but also has uses logic, making it seem very realistic. I being thirteen, enjoy the book greatly and so does my mother and my younger brother (9).

This book is filled with adventure. Two enemies from the first book join forces to save Artemis' father. Holly Short of the LEPrecon squad must try to get along with Artemis Fowl, her worst enemy. Holly is not too happy about that. Neither is Artemis. In this sequel the characters are funnier. It's much easier to skip breakfast while reading it (I know how that is) because you're so deep in the story.

The beginning of this book is a little slow, but the rest of it certainly doesn't disappoint you. The insanely funny humor will give you a perpetual stomach cramp even when the rest gets a bit boring. It was also kinda interesting (and refreshing from all that sarcasm) to see the emotional side of Artemis. At the end of the first book you kind of end up hating Artemis (like when Holly hits him), but you find out in the second book that there really is an emotional side to the impenetrable poker face of Artemis Fowl. All in all, this is a magnificent piece of work that ranks up there with Harry Potter. I think it ties for first place. One bit of advice: read this book twice because the first time it's kinda hard to digest and you find out different things that you missed before, so you're like, "oh cool, I didn't see that before; so that's why that happened; etc." It also makes you less bored during the long summer months.

The Arctic Incident is a fun reunion of Artemis, Butler, Holly, Root and the rest, but falls short of the standard set by the first Artemis Fowl book. What's missing is the carefully constructed plot - this time around, it's a fairly straightforward rescue mission in two parts, and the finish won't have you turning back the pages to look for all the pieces of the puzzle that have just fallen together. It's still fun, though - the main characters are all there and all themselves and there's wonder and excitement aplenty.

Well, here we have another fine Artemis Fowl book. This sequel came out shortly after the first book, we can only hope a third will come out soon. This book might be better than the first book because Holly and her gang have to team up with Fowl and Butler to save Artemis Fowl, Sr. However, I was slightly disappointed because the role of Butler was cut a bit, but hey, still a great book.

If you enjoyed the first Artemis Fowl book, you HAVE to read this one! It has so much more action and suspense, including a part where Artemis has to slowly crawl through a tube of plasma! That was awesome!! This book is also emotionally moving. I almost cried at the end, and I've only done that with one other book out of the many books I've read in my lifetime. I would also recommend this book for anyone who loves Sci-Fi/Fantasy. You will not be disappointed by this one bit if you thought the first one was at least sort of cool!

Full of wit, magical technology, and a lot more action, this sequel to Artemis Fowl is just what you've come to expect of Eoin Colfer. Old characters return: Mulch Diggums(now living-and stealing-in LA), Trouble Kelp and his brother Grub, Foaly, and (briefly)Chix Verbil. A few new villans and some fairie politics keep the plot fast and furious, while Artemis (fresh from boarding school) and Butler team up with Holly and Comander Root to stop a smuggling ring. Oh, and rescue Artemis's father, MIA two years ago in a darkly humerous explosion aboard a cola-carring ship. The book itself is a work of art,and although this one lacks the gnomish code along the bottom, the cover is exceptionally well done.

If you liked the first Artemis Fowl book, you'll LOVE the second. Once again Artemis and the People create a page-turning book, only this time they are on the same side. This book is a MUST BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1st book was recommended by a friend of mine. She really hate Artemis ( cause he's evil) and gave the book to me as she thought I might love it. Well.... I LOVE IT!. I was hooked. From the 1st chapter, i know Arty is a very interesting character. Very very interesting.

I don't deny that Artemis is somewhat evil, but hey... no body is perfect. If you look at the whole situation from Arty perspective, he's doing nothing wrong. His purpose is to steal the goal from the faeries. Plan it well so nobody got hurt. And, he succeeded.

And Now, continuing from the last episode, he received a message from Mafia that he's father is in their custody. At the same time, the faeries have their own problem too & thought that all that was comin from Arty (which actually not). So here begin a new adventure. The best part is the faeries & Arty work together.

Highly recommended for anyone who have an open mind.

I do recommend this book because it was thrilling and very exiting. Anyone who likes crime will become addicted to it and others in the series. The fantasy, science fiction was also very realistic and at moments of the book the reader will say, "Wow, I didn't know that." or "I wouldn't doubt that." All in all, a great book ten out of ten to anyone who picks it up.

This book is awesome! It gives people a way to see The People as the author wants you to. It includes most of the real book but not all of it. The thing I think some people will not understand is that at the end of each chapter is a column of fairy language that says AF (Artemis Fowl). I would sugest this book to any Artemis Fowl fan.

Ever since I was 11 years old, I have been enchanted by books like Harry Potter or The Lord Of The Rings. Yet books don't last forever. I started reading the Harry potter books, but sadly I rushed through them. I finished all the Harry Potter books in less than one summer. I felt The magic and joy from these books surge through my Heart, but for a year it was lost , and now it is so difficult to find a book just as magical as Harry Potter. I had been waiting and waiting for a book to match how I felt when I read Harry Potter and I finally found it. A very special book named Artemis Fowl. Artemis Fowl is great and here are a few reasons why. First, Artemis Fowl deals With "Super Technology". A total "must have" in my kind of book. Artemis Fowl has this because of a centaur named "Foaly". "Foaly "Is an absolute genius when it comes to technology and inventions. His inventions include the Time stopper, the Retimager , fairy Hummingbird Wings, and much more. Artemis Fowl is truly awesome. Another Reason why Artemis Fowl is a major favorite of mine is because of a 12 year old boy "Artemis" that is a genius and outwits every person who try's to outsmart him. For example , Artemis is just about to be " Bio-bombed", when he finds a way to save him and his friends by simply taking a sleeping pill in a glass of wine. A third and final reason why Artemis Fowl is so grand is because it is magical, exciting, funny, and got me back into reading. Thank you Eoin Colfer for making such a magnificent work of art. In conclusion these are just a few reasons why Artemis Fowl is my favorite book.

I liked this book because of the team work between Holly, Root, Butler, and Artemis. What I didn't like was all of the confusing technology. Fortunately at the end of the book, it was easy to sum up the whole story in one sentence.
The Commander Cudgeon had turned evil. He wants Root out and himself in as head of LEPrecon. So he works with an evil genius pixie, Opal Koboi, at Koboi Labs. Opal shuts down all LEP weaponry, and blames our centaur friend, Foaly. He's now locked in his control room having tantrums. This is where Artemis comes in. If Artemis helps Holly and Root, then they'll help him save his father from the Russians.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes the fairy technology and physics. If you like the cleverness of Artemis Fowl, then the third book is for you. I also have to admit, the plot of this story is great, and Artemis is sometimes even speechless.

I like this book, but it is not as good as the first "Artemis Fowl" book which was pretty good
It was way too rushed and the story moves too fast for my liking.
The plot of the uprising was not as well thoght out as the plot of
Holly being kinapped in the first book. I liked
this book but not as well written as the first one.

It's one of those things such as marmite, football and shopping. Artemis Fowl. You love it, or hate it. And I'm extremely glad to be able to count myself among those you love it.
I've read both books more than five times, and every night I sit and pray that the genius Eoin Colfer brings out a third. The characters all have so much character, even those mentioned just once, the descriptions are incredible and the flow of the words is easily the greatest use of the English language in the history of literature.
My favourite character? Artemis Fowl, of course. He's quick-witted, cool in the face of dangerous and viciously intelligent. But book two showed us the softer, most vunerable side of Artemis Fowl, as the boy he didn't ever truly have a chance to be.
The best bit in number two is when he emerges from the plasma in Koboi labs. What a scene. The movie has a good chance of living up to the superb quality of the book, but if it doesn't then I'll still be the biggest fan on Earth of Eoin Colfer.
Funny story. I've started to learn Russian, even since I first read book one, just because I love this book so much.
God bless Eoin Colfer. And God bless Artemis Fowl.

Artemis Fowl The Arctic Incident is smart, fun filled, and packed with Magic. With an all new plot and an all new scheme witch keeps you on the edge of your seet till the very last word. Holly and Artemis have to team up to stop two very evil chriminals.
p.s. I wouldn't read this unless you've read the first book, which you should.

I read the book Artemis Fowl the Arctic Incident by Eion Colfer. It was a good book. It was action packed and fun to read. The lower elements are under siege and meanwhile Artemis's father is being held hostage. Now Holly and Artemis must team up and save the day. Will Artemis finally be reunited with his father? Read the book to find out!

This book is better than the first one, maybe is because you know what are you going to read, nevertheless is a fairy tale but better, here you see the love that a boy can have for his father and do whatever he needs to do to save him, I recommend this book to read it when you need some relax, because you won't have to think anything while you read, is a very easy book to read.

When I first received this book, I was more then excited. I thought that it would be a book that you could lose yourself into-one that wasn't too serious that the author couldn't make jokes and had a plot that always had a high on the suspense level.
To put it lightly, when I finally read it, this wasn't the book I was expecting. It seemed to be hastily written (at least compared to the first book), and was amazingly tedious.
Although it truly wasn't so horrible, if you put it next to some of the other books you can find, it was only moderately good. I believe that Eoin Colfer had TRIED to explore more emotional depth in his characters, yet he failed miserably. Three stars for effort!

It's kind of like Harry Potter. Anyone of any age can enjoy this series. It's witty, smart, entertaining and adventurous. I would recommend it to kids of all ages who are in for an exciting adventure. I can't put the series down...on the 4th book in a week.

This book review is for Artemis Fowl #2 by Eoin Colfer. I would give this book five stars. Although I would recommend reading Artemis Fowl #2 before reading this one. The main character in this book is Artemis Fowl. I liked this book because it made me want to keep on turning the pages. Something is always happening during every chapter. I would recommend this book to anyone.

OK, so maybe the Fowl series is not exactly Lord of the Rings caliber, or even Harry Potter level. But it is an enjoyable read if you take it for what it is. Sure, it's directed towards kids, but this 42 year old kid at heart blew through it in a couple of days, and plans to do likewise with the next two in the series. You'll enjoy it too.

This book is amazing. Artemis Fowl is stiull a 12 year old criminal mastermind but this time he's using his intellectual gifts to save his father from the russian mob. Again he calls on the LEPrecon force of Holly the fairy to help him. In every Fowl book there is an ending that you could not expect and this book delivers it perfectly. You never know how Artemis will survive his adventures but he always manages with ther help of his bodyguard Butler.

This series of books is amazing and action packed. A must-read.

OK, I'm an Eoin Colfer lover and I think this one will keep your attention, but this isn't his best. I think that Artemis may have toned down a little too much. I mean, he's almost an ordinary genius in this one, not a genius-criminal-mastermind-let's-take-over-the-world-and-add-a-few-trillion-dollars-to-my-already-gigantium-fortune kind of guy. Besides, I think that the scenes in the chutes are a little hard to follow. Oh well, I thought it was worth reading anyway!

Purchased the Audio CDs for travel, and just like Book 1, Nathaniel Parker does an excellent job in narrating. If you enjoy Jim Dale (Harry Potter Series), you'll enjoy Nathaniel Park too.

Book 1 picks right up with a ton of adventure and suspense. Like every Artemis Book, it leaves you wanting more.

Artemis Fowl The Arctic Incident
By: Eoin Colfer
13 year old Artemis Fowls father is captured by the russian Mafia. Young Artemis wants his father back. In this book he allies with dangerous fairy Holly short. together they will fight trolls and goblins. As Artemis and holly fight there way to Artemis's father the fairy world is fighting a war of its own. the fairies are fighting mobs of goblins that have outlawed weapons and are attacking the L.E.P. units. Will the team of heroes find Artemis's father of will he be lost forever?
I liked this book a lot. It is very beautifully written. Eoin has a talent for writing. He knows how to get the reader caught in the book. This is an action filled book that is good for any age.

Children's literature was locked in preciousness, safety, and the avoidance of all the tumultuous, stewy reality of humanity for so long that I despaired of it ever coming to life again. Then J.K. Rowling detonated the dam (with books far less exciting than these, in my opinion), and the flood still sweeps me joyfully along. First the Beaudelaire brood and now Artemis Fowl have brought humanity back to the "children's" book (and brought back adult readers like me along with them). This book isn't as good as the first: it's the second book in a series, and that's simply inevitable. But it continues the work of the first, slaying cliches and bristling with joy and leading its genre to new heights.

Colfer could take lessons Robert Stanek on what it takes to create a great world and characters. Artemis Fowl has one thing going for it. That's that Artemis is a criminal boy genius but after 2 books the gimmack is old. The world is yucky. The characters aren't fun. In my heart I wanted to love this.

In The Arctic Incident, Artemis fowl is back, and this time instead of a devious scheme to make money, he is on his way to Russia to rescue his beloved father. He is stopped, however, by LEP officer Holly Short who thinks he's responsible for the connection that was found between the vicious goblins and someone above ground.
She quickly finds the Artemis is innocent, and they join forces first to rescue the underworld from a new villain, and then to save Artemis's father.
I thought the previous Artemis Fowl was a deliciosly dark read. I liked the hero being a villain instead of another snotty hero boy (i.e. Harry Potter).
The Arctic Incident however, was a real dissapointment. Artemis was the usual "good guy", there were the usual power-crazed bad guy in search for revenge, and Artemis didn't even come up with any spectacular plans. One can always guess what Foaly will do, when the Dwarf will do his thing and so on.
A fun read, but a dissapointing sequel.

In Eoin Colfer's sequal to "Artemis Fowl" several exciting and eluding events accur. In "The Arctic Incident" we see several characters submerge and true feelings discovered. As enemies become friends and friends become traitors the plot of the book unfolds.

Will Artemis is attending Boarding School in Ireland he gets an email from a long lost friend; his father. Artemis goes seeks help from the fairies to rescue his father and joins forces with their squad. He races against time and challenges as he tries to save both worlds.

THis is a fantastick book and is worth reading especially if you've read the first one. It is really exciting and interesting.

I'm a huge fan of Fantasy books... DragonLance, Elminster, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, whatever. I've read them. Artemis Fowl looked interesting, so I picked it up (along with Artctic Incident) and read them. True, it's a page turner, but I often found myself wondering why I kept reading. The storyline is odd, but gripping. Fun characters and all, but some parts of the writing seem really Juvenile to me. Repeated word choice in the same sentences and the like are present, too. I probably sound like a picky english teacher, but they seem incredibly apparent. A welcome return of the old cast ups the score, along with some interesting twists near the end (no spoilers here, sorry.) If you like fantasy bizarreness, pick this up for sure.

When I picked this book up I didn't know what to expect. I had read the first book before, and it was interesting. Shortly after I opened the book I was hooked. The action in this book is on a whole other level than the book before it. So much happens in such a small time, and if you get bored easily, read this, it will keep your attention. The descriptions of the characters are vivid, and the settings are something out of a dream. The only bad thing about this book is that it can get a bit confusing trying to remember who everyone is. That does not affect the experience that much, so I give it a 4.

The second book of the Artemis Fowl series, I think, was not as good as the first. There were points when it was really boring, and points that weren't. This one is about Artemis looking for his father. The russian mafiya have kidnapped him, and are looking for a ransome from Artemis Jr. However, Artemis and his bodyguard, Butler, are dragged into a LEP mission. They want to find out who is sending goblins bateries for illegal lazers. This book has its moments, but if you have a book you know is better, go for it.

People were saying this was the nest Harry Potter. But no. Eoin said it perfectly, "People said he was a chip off the old block. They were wrong. Master Artemis was a brand-new block, the likes of which had never been seen before." Amen to that. These books are brilliant.

It is not as good as the first book, which is expected, but is still pretty interesting. The novel is choppy and switches between locations and characters multiple times a chapter. However, the action and suspense doesn't stop or even slow down throughout the course of the novel. This novel may seem really scifi, but the characters mythical roles are of little importance. All in all, I give the book three stars, because it really is a good story but gets kind of confusing jumping back and forth between places.

It took me a long time to get "into" the first book, but once I got started I couldn't stop! So when I heard that Eoin Colfer had put out the newest Artemis Fowl book, I made a beeling for my public library and got a copy (and mind you, my name was on that waiting list for a looong time). Believe it or not, this book is even better then the first--and the first was great. I laughed even more, and my favorite part of the book was when Holly and Artemis had to team up together. Even if they didn't make a good team at first, as the book went a long, they had to learn to trust each other. It was interesting.

The book is more charming then the first and will delight readers of all ages.

Artemis Fowl: The Artic Incident is a very good book. The main characters are Artemis Fowl, Butler, Juliet, Opal Koboi, Commander Root, Cudgeon, Captain Holly, Mulch Diggums, and many more. The book is set in two different places: 1. Ireland and 2. Russia. At first Artemis is at counseling and he receives a call from Butler that his father is alive. Artemis ditches counseling and escapes to The Artic Circle. His father is held captive by the Russian Mafia and now Artemis uses the help of the fairies to find his father. When Artemis reaches Russia he gets attacked by goblins.

Read the book to find out!

That man is his father Artemis Fowl Senior. At the same time, Captain Holly Short and Commander Root of the LEPrecon forces have a huge problem when they discover that goblins may threaten their world. Soon Artemis, Butler, and the wonderful fairies are working together. that's right, working together. Basically, if Artemis helps them with their problem, they'll help him find his father.

I liked this book. It is a bit slower than the first but it is a delightful story. It is filled with love and determination. In the beginning Artemis Fowl receives an email that says his father was alive and that he was being held for ransom. Artemis's dad had supposedly died when his boat crashed. Before Artemis can leave to save his father, a fairy captured him. The year before Artemis had stolen 15 million dollars worth of gold from the fairies. Artemis ended up helping the fairies. He did this so the fairies would help him save his father. Find out of Artemis can save his father, read Artemis Fowl The Arctic Adventure

i wasn't a big fan of the first book, but hoped the second would be better. wrong. i notice the fairies are getting quite human. first off, i thought the fairies were vegans? all that talk about mud men killing all the animals and such, plus holly asked for veggies when held captive in fowl manor. so what's w/ the burger joint?? the lep takes refuge in a burger joint. second, i thought the fairies looked down on man. they use terms like mud man and such. so why are they watching our movies? copying our culture. fairy culture seems WAY too much like human culture for a race so superior and all. another problem i had w/ this book is the use of names. colfer is constantly switching nouns. cudgeon to briar to cudgeon-ALL ON THE SAME PAGE! needs to be on or the other. he does the same w/ chix verbil. this is very inconsistant and done a lot. the lack of plot and watering down of the artwmis character is also a problem. i hate giving up on a series, so will try the third book and hope for the best

Fun and fast paced. Artemis is a kinder, gentler teenage criminal mastermind, and it's nice to see his conscience has grown. I think the characters are not as fleshed out as the first one, probably because there are so many sub-plots. A quick, enjoyable read for adults!

The first "Fowl" was a great book, peopled with well-drawn characters and a great imaginary world. The audio book is dazzlingly read by Adrian Dunbar and brings the text to life wonderfully.

The 2nd chapted was a bit slow, however, I liked it better than most books of this genre. What I liked best is that Artemis Fowl a non-magical character has found entrance on his own accord into the world of a very elite magic magical creators who do not welcome outsiders, expecially mortals.
The premis of this book for me was that we can all experience magic and only our beliefs systems are holding us back.

I loved the first book of this series. Loved it loved it loved it. When this book came out, I got so excited I rushed to the bookstore to get it. I started reading, and the book was great. Then it got worse, and worse, and finally it just got so boring I had no idea what was going on in the story. Some of the parts were good, it was nice seeing our old heros and heroines back, but the plot needed some work and the story needed to be told a little better. It was also funny reading about the fairy gadgets, and the slight humor.
My closing comments for this book it to rent it from the library for a few days. Other than that, this book is just plain okay.

I just finished reading the book. It's nice, but I can't say I was as thrilled as I am with each and any Harry Potter book. The book should be fatter! More character development needed - as it is, most characters (especially the villains) are cartoonish and flat. Or was it intended as a parody on Russian Mafya books? Also, the use of Russian and pseudo-Russian words is laughable. "Irlandskii" means "Irish", but it's an adjective that can't be used in regard to a person to describe nationality. That would be "Irlandetz". "Khuligany" doesn't mean "enforcerers", it means punks, street bullies. They are scary to a woman on a dark street, but can't be Mafia! "Zdravstvuyte" is a wrong from to use between a father and a son - that would be "zdravstvuy". And so on and so force. (Russian is my mother tongue, so I know what I'm talking about).

I don't think that the Artemis Fowl duo (soon to be trio) deserves to be classified as Young Adult. The plot is just too simple and predictable. In this book you see from the eyes of a fairy and a boy mastermind. The plot of this story is complex but basically is based on the fact that a Russian Mafiya has Artemises father, and Opal Koboi is trying to take over the fairy world and eventually the WHOLE world. Artemis Fowl: the Arctic Incident is a great book. Holly and Artemis work together to save the fairy world from a pixie named Opal Koboi while being blamed for a attack. They defeat her and her sidekick. . I recommend this book to people who like books with action, and magic because it has those elements.

I really loved the books of the Artemis Fowl series. They were witty, funny, and well written. Somehow though, this book just never really was on the top of my list. It just didnt meet up to the rest of the series--- It wasnt awful, i just expected more and was confused at times. It had a good plot, but sometimes the characters get a little confusing. I mean, Artemis kidnapped Holly Short. Why would the fairies want him to help them, even if he is a genius. They have Foaly!
Well, it wasnt to bad of a book. Couldve been better, though.

I had a crush on her. Did I say "had"? I meant have. She would be awesome if she were good. Wait, am I supposed to be recommending the book? Forget everything I just said. This girl-I mean book- is awesome!

I thought that it was one of the best books I have ever read. I enjoyed ever bit of it. There was all the things that a reader could want. There was thrill, excitement, love, the discovering of someone being more than thought of, mystery, joy, and many more emotions. I could not put it down because I liked it so much. If I could I would give it more than 5 stars!

I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first. Again we had the witty and sarcastic humor that I loved. I again was laughing till I had tears at some points in the book. I also read this one in a day, so it's great if you're on a plane or some such thing. This one did explore other characters which was nice too. Definately read the first one first or you might find yourself pretty lost.

I reccomend this book for fans of the Harry Potter series . You will have a better understanding of this book if you read the first book in the series. L.E.P.Captain Holly short finds batteries used to power softnose weapons, she assumes that the batteries were probably traded on the surface, with Artemis Fowl.In the meantime, Artemis gets a video email stating that his father is alive.so they try to track down the culprit and rescue Artemis' father. It is a funny book.

I loved how the author wrote this book in the views of a criminal, unlike most books I have read.I found THE ARCTIC INCIDENT very intresting and enjoyed reading it. It shows how much even a theif will do to save his dad.

the plot was simply horrendus. a boy genius runs around with a bunch of faires, helps prevent humans coming in contact with faries and saves his long lost father. typical. through out all the action sences my mind started to wander. its a wonder i managed to finish the book. this book is dispictable, nothing compared to Harry potter or even artemis fowl book one. do not wast percious time and money with this book.

It had one good action scene where they all were shooting at each other but thatwas it the rest of the book was all talking and wlaking. IT WAS THE WORST BOOK I EVER READ. The Arctic Incident was a fantastic book. It was filled with love and determination. In the begginning Artemis Fowl recieves an email that says his father was alive and that he was being held for ransom. Artemis's dad had supposedly died when his boat crashed. Before Artemis can leave to save his father he was captured by a fairy. The year before Artemis had stolen 15 million dollars worth of gold from the fairies. Artemis ended up helping the fairies. He did this so the fairies would help him save his father. Find out of Artemis can save his father, read Artemis Fowl The Arctic Adventure!

I had just finished reading the 1st Artemis Fowl, it was the worst book in my opinion. I decided "I guess it is 1st one I bet the 2nd will be good." I was wrong. I couldn't make it past the first 4 chapters it was so bad. I think book 2 and 1 are cheesy, gross, wierd, strange, boring, confusing, and bad examples. There is quite a bit of swearing in it. I personly don't really like books that have 12 year old criminal boys that steal gold from pixies or fairies. I like reading fantasy, fiction, ect. I thought that since this is a Science Fiction/Fantasy I would like it, but I didn't. I'm not a big Science Fiction fan, but enjoy Fantasy, if you LOVE both Science Fiction and Fantasy this book would be for you.

Artemis Fowl isnot really my thing; my family of boys like Artemis. The graphic novel is very well done.

The story itself was easy to follow in this format. Thoughts are printed in colored blocks, keyed to each character. Muttered comments are printed in dashed word bubbles. The panels flow well across the page.

This review is for the hardcover book.

Parent note: Some "hell" and "damn"
