Giraffes! My favorite animal in the world and a book dedicated to getting Millie a herd..what could be better? How about a bunch of brothers finally standing up to an overbearing selfish jerk of a father? Oh yes! throw in a themed room, buttons, finding love and art. This series isn't Fools Gold but it's shaping up to be fun!

LOVED IT! I love this new series set in Happily Inc. I read all of the Fool's Gold books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I am loving the Happily Inc. books even more. I find them a little funnier and better developed. I also enjoy the cameos by people from Fool's Gold. The characters are both likable and engaging. I can't wait for the rest of the books!

Two love stories in this book. Mathis and Carol along with Millie the giraffe. Violet and Ulrich the English duke who thinks Violet is stealing. Both couples have struggles with relationships to work through. You learn more about the Mitchell family and why the 3 artist in the family struggle. Love Sophie the dog.

I really enjoyed this book! In Second Chance Girl we get to learn more about the family dynamics of the Mitchell brothers. Mathias & his brothers are trying to work through past hurts. Mathias is lucky he has Carol for a friend he can just be himself with. They know each other's faults and accept each other as they are. Of course being a Susan Mallery story, you know there will come a time when they start to have feelings for each other that are not strictly as friends. There are ups and downs with Carol & Mathias relationship, but as always, love wins out in the end. Definitely a good read.

Love the spin off from the Fool's Gold Series. We meet Mathias and Carol in her first Happily, Inc book and you get to read their story. You also get some bonus storylines, her sister Violet and the British Duke, Ulrich, which were very enjoyable. Love the animals in the story , with Carol's animal preserve and Millie the giraffe. You get to love her like Priscilla the elephant in her Fool's Gold Series. She leaves you with anticipating her third book with Ronan's story. Susan's books are always a fun read, love them.

5 SECOND CHANCE GIRL STARS!! Another great book in the Happily Inc. Series. Susan Mallery's characters and towns are always phenomenal. This story has all the feels and keeps you flipping pages. I highly recommend this book and series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher.

You fall in love again with a Susan Mallery romance. Susan brings us Mathias and Carol in Second Chance Girl. Neighbors, one an artist another a gamekeeper. So very different, but their love story is amazing. You also introduced to a giraffe named Millie and there is no way you can't fall in love. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance. Given an arc for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book from the author. I was so sad to see the Fool's Gold series end but I must say that I am really getting into this Happily inc series! The setting is beautifully depicted. I really liked the idea of Mathias and Carol together. This series is a lot of fun! Highly recommend!

I am enjoying this series very much. Second Chance Girl is the second book in the series. I really enjoyed being able to follow the characters from the first book. This book centers around Carol and Mathias. Sophie and Millie were delightful additions. I look forward to many more in this series.

Can I just say I love this spinoff from the Fool's Gold series. This is the 2nd book for Happily Inc and it does not disappoint! The Mitchell brother's have been dealt so much pain in their lives. It makes my heart happy they are finding their happily ever afters. It's just a bumpy road for them to get there. Can't wait for Ronan's story next!

This tells the stories of Carol and Mathias and Carol's sister Violet and the duke, Ulrich. While I loved that it is a stand alone book that has a happy ending, I felt the characters to be lacking, and their suitors a little too easily overcome their issues of commitment. I didn't dislike the characters, but I didn't love them either. I really wanted to like it more than I did.

I love the Fools Gold series so obviously I love the author, but this book didn't do it for me. There was no spark to the characters or the description of Happily Inc (which was a trademark of her Fools Gold series). I found it an effort to finish the book which was disappointing.

Mallery does it again with this book!
Now that the characters of Happily, Inc has been establish, this book flowed a lot better than the 1st one. I love how the focus isn't just on the budding romance, but also on Mathias and his father. And then there's Millie, the giraffe. This book is definitely worth a read, and will leave you feeling good.

I love this new Happily Inc. series! I really enjoyed reading this book! I liked Carol being a gamekeeper! It made for a very interesting story! I was irritated with the way Mathias acted at times. I love how it ended! It's a great read. Susan Mallery never disappoints!

Another good one! Millie gets a herd...and another Mitchell brother finds the love he’s been looking for yet not finding. Not to mention the hilarious Eddie and Gladys made a reappearance to top off the Fool’s Gold good feels! I can’t wait to get back to Happily Inc with the next book.

Very enjoyable story. Easy to read. Predictable but I loved the main characters and how their relationship progressed. The secondary romance was cute too. Great supporting characters including the giraffe and the dog. I would like to read Ronan's story next. Tired of reading about their father though.

I have really enjoyed the Happily Inc series, It has been a really nice replacement for a lot of my favorite series that have ended. So Far Mathis and Carol are my favorite. I love books that can make me both laugh and cry. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Second Chance Girl”, book 2 in Susan Mallery’s “Happily Inc” series. It was fun reading about the various characters that we met in book 1 and there were quite a few characters from her “Fool’s Gold” series that were blended in so well with this story. I loved how she included Sophie the beagle in the story. I’m ready for book 3.

This is the second book in Susan Mallery's new series Happily Inc. I loved this book even more than the first one. Susan Mallery has the touch. She grabs you and pulls you right into the lives of her wonderful characters and towns. I'd recommend it highly.

Susan Mallory is just such an amazing story teller. Another Mitchell brother swept up. I loved Carol and Mathis and Violet and the Duke! The animals are so much fun! So many emotions happening I couldn't put the book down. A must read for everyone!!!

Mathias lives next to Carol who runs the animal sanctuary and has Millie the giraffe. Carol is trying to raise money for a herd and Mathias comes thru with an auction. Carol has a crush on Mathias but he loves one night stands with bridesmaids. What he realizes is he does like Carol and created glass pieces of Millie and Carol which proved to Carol love is worth fighting for!

I very much enjoyed "Second Chance Girl." The book is entertaining, fun with just a modrate amoung of angst. It is typical Susan Mallery. The romance between Mathias and Carol is a great story, though with more angst than i prefer. I also enjoyed the romance between Carol's sister Violet and Ulrich. They go so well together. I I really enjoyed the entertwining stories, Mallery is just a master storyteller.

Another hit for Susan. I liked this story because it had the good, the bad and the ugly. The good would be the sisters Carol and Violet and the brothers from the Mitchell family. The bad the Duke trying to find out about Violet and his grandmother, and the ugly the Mitchell parents. Carol and Mathias were meant to be together. Violet and Ulrich the mean Duke, turned good are also a good couple, I like that Milly had a part in them to seeing the light. I can't wait for the next couple in the next book in Happy Inc.

BOTTOM LINE, UP TOP. An enjoyable read that I highly recommend; is a pretty light and fun romance, with humor and chemistry. Secondary side romance distracted too much for my taste, but the main romance between Carol and Mathias is lovely, develops well, and has fun, sweet, and sexy times (what more can a girl ask for?!). Liked the complexity of the characters, most especially Mathias and all he’s going through with his family, you really feel for him; also appreciated Carol’s inner strength and her courage throughout, for putting herself out there. I look forward to seeing what kind of heroine is able to catch the eye of brooding and solitary Ronan …
BASICS. Happily Inc, California desert, modern-day
Heroine: Carol Lund (28), runs the Happily Inc Animal Preserve
Hero: Mathias Mitchell (late-20s/early-30s), glass blower/artist
Period: majority of the story takes place over about a month
Secondary romance: yes (Carol’s sister Violet and Ulrich Sherwood, Duke of Somerbrooke)
Series: Happily Inc, #2; can be read as a stand-alone (linked to Mallery’s Fools Gold series)
Prior to this book, I’d only read two other Susan Mallery books: Falling for Gracie (4 stars; read in 2009 but still remember enjoying it) and Sizzling (3 stars; didn’t love). Was attracted to the plotline here, mostly because of the heroine—I’m very flexible when it comes to heroes, but for my leading ladies, I prefer the unusual, interesting ones to the model-gorgeous, sexy ones (not that those are mutually exclusive, but am painting with a broad brush here).
CAROL, OUR HEROINE. Carol is super likable and one of those sweet, friendly, good-girl types. I liked that she was a bit of a tomboy, which is pretty unusual, and her occupation is definitely unique: she studied zoology in school and now takes care of the animals on the Happily Inc Animal Preserve, which include normally-wild animals like gazelles, zebras, and a giraffe. She is neighbors with Mathias and has had a crush on him for a while, but he’s a one-night-stand kind of guy, so she knows there’s nothing there; surprisingly, he normally goes for hot and sexy bridesmaids (I know, gasp), so she also doesn’t think she’s his type or that he even notices her in that way. She loves living in Happily Inc and what she does.
MATHIAS, OUR HERO. Mathias is a glass artist and works in a studio with two of his four brothers (the other two don’t live in Happily Inc and aren’t glass artists). He’s kind of a love’em and leave’em guy, but not in a bad way; Happily Inc is a wedding destination and the whole town kind of revolves around the wedding industry, so he has some fun with whichever bridesmaid in town grabs his attention, and that’s it—they know the score going in and he’s not looking for anything permanent or more serious. He lives next door to Carol, who lives on the Animal Preserve, and so has a perfect view of it and the animals; there’s some funny back and forth teasing that goes on between the two of them about Carol’s “herd.” He really likes Carol and while she’s not normally his type, he has found himself increasingly attracted to her; she’s the one he turns to automatically for a lot of things and he has also been becoming more and more into her physically, with sexy dreams and all lol. He doesn’t want to jeopardize their friendship though, especially since he knows he’s not looking for anything permanent and she’s definitely the settle-down-with kind of gal.
THE MITCHELL FAMILY (AND HEROES OF HAPPILY INC SERIES). Now as mentioned before, Mathias is a glass artist, and glass blowing is basically the family business, and his father is a super-famous glass artist—and also one of the biggest a-hole fathers you will ever read in a romance!! Okay, HR books have some pretty bad ones where they want to kill their own daughters or bargain them away in a game of cards, but still—Ceallach is a horrid, horrid person and I was uncomfortable and nervous reading any of the scenes he was in. While Mathias’s two other artist brothers create art (Ronan does glass and Nick now mostly works in wood), Mathias only makes functional glass items, like vases, bowls, glassware, lighting, etc. He used to do glass art, and was actually the most talented among the bunch, but his father, being the d***head that he is, basically shattered Mathias when he was 19; it’s a really sore spot and you really feel for him, it’s just heartbreaking and you want to slap his dad for the things he says and does. Another sore point is that Ronan, Mathias’s fraternal twin, is actually NOT his twin at all, but rather a half-brother from their dad’s long-time mistress (this isn’t a secret, is told at the beginning). Their dad revealed this to them 5 years ago with little fanfare, but it has completely (and unsurprisingly) changed the dynamic within the family. It especially changed things between Ronan and Mathias, with Ronan withdrawing more and more, which has been very challenging and hurtful for Mathias, because he doesn’t know what to do. Ronan is the one who left Fools Gold and moved to Happily Inc, and Mathias and Nick followed him.
WHAT I LIKED.
• The relationship between Carol and Mathias is lovely and I loved its development; has funny, sweet, and sexy times—is perfect! Numerous times Carol is the one to show a lot of emotional courage in terms of putting herself out there, and I loved it.
• With these types of setups, authors can easily do the whole things-left-unsaid ploy (over, and over, and OVER again), and while obviously you have a bit of that, it’s not angsty and doesn’t drag on, which I appreciated; yes, they’re both dumba**es at some points, especially Mathias (he’s a bit slappable (sp? lol) at one point, the dunderhead), but nothing too bad.
• AND, actually, for the first time (k, probably not the actual first), the hero had a totally believable reason for being wary of love! That’s such a common ploy used for heroes in all romances, and it makes sense if they’ve been cheated on, but other than that, authors usually rely on the stereotype of men being commitment-phobes. So: hats off to Mallery for making me able to understand and believe Mathias’s trepidation.
• Great supporting characters and side-relationships between the brothers, the lady friends, and the sisters (Carol and Violet).
• Sophie was HYSTERICAL and added some great and funny times—Sophie is Mathias’s mom’s dog and she asks him to dogsit her while she and their dad are traveling. She gets into all sorts of trouble and you gotta love watching Mathias start to develop a big soft spot for her.
WHAT I DID *NOT* LIKE.
• I don’t mind secondary romances—it’s kind of a double-edged sword sometimes, because if it’s really good, you wish they had their own book, and if it’s bad, you wish it didn’t exist. In this instance, I didn’t mind it, but it was a waaaaay larger part of the story than is normal; at some times it was almost like two romances going on side-by-side. More attention and page-space is devoted to Carol and Matthias, no doubt, but Violet and Ulrich were too center-stage for me; I kept on feeling like I was being pulled away from what I really wanted to watch (Carol and Mathias) by this side-show movie going on that was distracting everything.
• I don’t understand the title. Maybe I missed something—clearly did—but it was an engaging book, it’s not like my mind was wandering while I was reading it …

An exotic gamekeeper, a glass artist, a button dealer, and a Duke? What could be more eclectic?
Susan Mallery always writes interesting story lines about realistic, though not ordinary, characters. Yes, it’s a boy meets girl romance, but it has just enough drama to be thought-provoking. There is nothing frightening, no stalkers, crazy exes, or bad men lurking about, purely authentic, if not harsh, family dynamics. It is a sweet story between sensitive, caring, people. The dialog is always superb! No trendy phrases or age specific lingo, just conversations that will appeal to all generations. Note: There are sexual situations, though not very graphic. I often found myself up very late because I was simply unwilling to stop reading!
This is the second book in the Happily Inc. series. It features Mathias Mitchell and Carol Lund with a surprise addition of a secondary romance between Carol’s sister Violet and Ulrich Sherwood who is a Duke! As a part of the Happily Inc. series, you will see snippets of previous characters, as well as a few from the Fools Gold series. Since three of the Mitchell sons have moved from Fool’s Gold, a wedding for Maya and their brother Del (Thrill Me – Fools gold #20) brings the family all together. All in all, a happy read. Certain to leave you feeling good.
Please note: I was given a promotional copy of this book in exchange for a HONEST review. I highly recommend it and you can be assured I would have gladly purchased it.

Happily inc. is my new happy place! I am loving this new series!! Mathias Mitchell from Fool's Gold has moved to town with his brothers to work through family conflict. Here her meets Carol and Millie and falls for them both;-) Susan has a wonderful way of developing a town complete with quirky, fun and unique businesses and people! You can read this alone or if you missed the first in the series do yourself a favor and start with You Say it First. You can't go wrong with this book ( or author ) and there is even a modern day Duke with a secondary love story. Loved this book!!

Second Chance Girl is another heartwarming love story by Susan Mallery. I want to move to Happily, Inc.!
Second Chance Girl is the second book in the Happily Inc. series, but this can be read as a standalone. Just as in her other series the author gives a quick recap and introduction of characters from previous books which makes it easy for new readers to fall along. In Second Chance Girl the Lund sisters, Violet and Carol, take center stage and it is their love story. The sisters are complete opposites. Violet collects and sells rare buttons and is the town’s fashionista, doing clothing alterations and consulting brides for their friend’s wedding planning company. Carol loves animals and works at their father’s animal preserve. Despite their different tastes the sisters have a strong bond. They both have been unlucky in love but their luck changes the moment Carol meets Mathias Mitchell and Violet meets Ulrich Sherwood.
This book alternates between the 4 POVs and I thought the different plots worked well together. Carol and Mathias’ story was emotional since they both are dealing with a painful past. Mathias’ mistrust comes from his abusive father and Carol’s insecurities comes from bad relationships. They are great together with some sexy banter and deep conversations. There were times I did get irritated with Carol's insecurities but did I feel her pain and cried along with her. Violet and Ulrich’s story starts off rocky with a misunderstanding but blossoms into a perfect, made for tv romance. They were also a fun couple with flirtatious moments. In their own, special ways these characters find their second chance at love, which will just melt your heart. Add in the adorable beagle Sophie and Millie the giraffe, and you’ll be reading this book with a smile.
Happily Inc. is a small town filled with characters I can’t wait to read more of. It is touching to see how the moment one of them needs help they gather together to support them. I just hope the next book will be about Ronan, Mathias’ brother, who needs to find happiness again after dealing with a painful betrayal. The strong friendships, family unity and sweet romance is what I love about Susan Mallery’s books.

Can we just get Roman's book and make me happy? I was hoping to have his relationship with the rest of the family mended by the end of this book, but as it turns out his lady is going to be the one who will show him how much they love him and that he is a blind idiot. I didn't like having a sad Mathias because of it. I hope the next book will be released soon because I like Happily Inc. and the people who live in this town. Silver has to find her happily ever after too. I don't know who is going to be her man (Drew maybe?), but she is a good character and I would like to see her more.
Besides Mathias and Carol, another couple gets their happily ever after in this book as a secondary plot. Violet, Carol's sister, and Ulrich, an Englishman with a title, who came to Happily Inc. to accuse Violet of stealing. Isn't that a great way to begin a love story? Your future husband travels across the ocean to accuse you of something horrible while in your mind you have great memories of him and you dancing. These two could have gotten their own book, but I liked their story as it is. For me, they had a better story than Mathias and Carol.
If I exclude Carol and Mathia's relationship, this book was great, but I thought that a spark was missing between the two main characters. Their chemistry wasn't explosive enough but with everything that went on in this book, it was hard to realize it until the book was finished and I had to recap it in my mind. I had strong feelings for Mathia's parents though. I disliked his mother because she should have stood up for her children, but feel sympathetic towards her because she was lost one of her sons for something that wasn't her fault. We all hate Mathia's father and there is no excuse for him, especially after finding out some stuff he did to Mathias.
Despite the lack of a spark between the two main characters, I liked this book. There are simply too many things going on in this book for one aspect of them to make me see the whole book in a negative light. For romance, I got the button lover Violet and her man, Ulrich.

I just love the wonderful characters and community that this author creates in each of her books. This is book 2 of what I hope will be a nice long series similar to her fools gold series. If you are a fan of fools gold you will enjoy some of the crossover characters as well. Fun and interesting people, quirky characters and a giraffe! I look forward to the next book!

Each book in a Susan Mallery series just leaves me waiting for more. Mathias and Carol's story is no different. Both of them thinking that they are wrong for the other and finding they are perfect for each other. I really enjoyed the bonus of two for one love stories that this book offered. I can always count on Susan's books to bring a smile to my face, as well as occasional tears and laughs.

Welcome back to Happily Inc. We get to meet Carol and Mathias, Violet and Ulrich. I loved how the character's evolved through the story and how their relationships can relate to real life. What's not to love about not one but two couples facing new relationships. I also enjoyed that Susan put in Mayor Marsha, Eddie and Gladys from Fools Gold.. Thank you again for a wonderful read!!

Such a sweet story about two friends with no intentions of getting involved with each other but fall in love anyway. In addition to Mathias and Carol (can't forget Millie, the giraffe) learning that they both deserve love in their lives, there is also a sub-story between Carol's sister, Violet, and an unexpected visitor from England. It was like a cute little bonus in between the main story. I cannot wait to see what ends up happening to the Mitchell brothers father. Will he ever get whats coming to him??

Second Chance Girl does not disappoint :) Carol and Mathis, I didn't see this match up coming, but it works. Carol, the game warden, tames Mathias (haha). Violet and Ulrich, a fairy tale come true. Interesting story lines, new friends, old friends from Fool's Gold and two happy endings
---need I say more. Oh yeah ***enjoy.

Second Chance is another cleaver work of Susan's. She not only has the Ceallach Mitchell sons working on more family issues, but she has introduced two sisters, an English Duke, and a wild life preserve with Millie the Giraffe. Lots of drama and some happy ending. A good addition to the series. I received this as an ARC.

Second Chance Girl by Susan Mallory is the second installment in the Happily Inc Series.
Every book in the series is a stand-alone.
Carol Lund is a citicen of Happily Inc and cares for the towns wild preserve. She has a crush on Mathias Mitchell, one of the famous Mitchell brothers. He's a successful artist, just like his father and his brothers.
He's a good man, gruff but with a soft heart.
She had a major crush on him for forever, But he doesn't do relationships, he does only bridesmaids. Somehow they're worlds apart, but have a lot in common. Mathias is torn. Carol is all in but he can't decide what he wants.
And there's a second story. The lovestory about Violet Lund, Carol's sister and the infamous Ulrich Duke of Somerbrooke. Both have a thing too.
The Happily Inc Seriea by Susan Mallory is a spin-off from her Fools Gold Series.
" A touching modern fairy tale that won't let go of your heart, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool's Gold romances! "
I greatly enjoyed reading this second book in the series. Just lae You Say It First, Second Chance Girl is a great read with lovable characters and a brilliant story.
I recommend the book and the series and give 5 stars. Thank you so much, Susan Mallory !

I really enjoyed the first book in the Happily Inc. series and I am thrilled to say that this second book was a great read as well. I have liked all the main characters thus far; and I love how Susan incorporated animals into the storyline. (I am definitely an animal person!) I have been reading Susan's Mischief Bay series as they come out, but have never read any of the Fool's Gold series. Let's just say, that will be resolved shortly! So far I have not read one book of hers that I did not enjoy.

Carol Lund is different. She enjoys working with animals. I already love Millie the giraffe. Millie needs a herd. Mathias Mitchell is an artist. He lives near Carol and loves seeing Carol and Millie walking together. Mathias is a playboy and wants to help raise money for bringing in the herd. Along the way there is Mitchell drama, a wedding and Carol falling in love with Mathias. Only both come with emotional baggage. Trust and a Second Chance at love leads the way.

What a fun book to read. I enjoyed it so much I have read it a couple of times. I love that Carol and Violet fall in love. I enjoy the Mitchell brothers, Nick, Mathias, Ronan, Del, and Aiden and the bond they all have for each other. Matthias and Carol fall in love and they are so different and their chemistry is fantastic. Violet and Ulrich is a sweet change since Ulrich is from England and is a Duke. They did not like each other and first and that all changed quickly. The story centers around Millie the giraffe and Sophie the beagle. Millie needed a herd so she would be lonely and Sophie just seems to get in mischief. It was fun with Eddie and Gladys and Mayor Marsha from Fools Gold. I enjoy the story between the families and watching how Carol and Mathias and Violet and Ulrich are happy. This book is fantastic and I could not put it down. Susan Mallery is a awesome author, I loved the Fool's Gold Series and I don't think Happily Inc will disappoint. THank you for such an awesome book and I look forward to the next.
