This sequel starts right in on the action. I appreciate the positive relationships the five have with each other. I enjoyed seeing their progress as their powers grew. I will be excited to read the next book and see how the story continues. Fun and entertaining!

A good easy read. Full of surprises, twists. Good characters and a very worthy continuation from the first book in the series. Highly recommended for people who enjoy books like the Divergent series or Hunger Games.

I enjoyed the second book in this series. These teenagers seem a little too trusting and having them show a little more of the dark side in themselves helped to make this more realistic. Will definitely get the next book to see the progression of not just the storyline but also of the teenagers' maturity.

Like any book in a series, it helps to read the first book so you don't immediately have to play catch up. What I read so far kees me reading to the next page or chapter to find out what happens next. If you like the book by Pittacus Lore, I An Number Four, you will like this series.

I was hooked with the first paragraph. These characters came to life immediately. The weaving of the friends into a tight knit family kept me racing forward to see what would happen next. Anyone at most any age would enjoy this book.

This book makes me eager to find out what happens in book 3. I am imagine different scenarios, but I know that the author will surprise me. The story is build on a solid conceptual base. The first part seemed a bit drawn out, but then the pace began to race along.

Wonderful story continuation from Aegis Rising! Great single plot throughout both books. The characters are marvelous. This could be so realistic, it's scarey. I could relate to the teenagers trying to just be normal in every day life, and yet have it turned upside down unexpectedly. I think everyone has experienced this some time or another. The recommendation for others to read this is so up there I don't know how to truthfully say it. So looking forward to the next book. People you have to read this book series! Move over Harry Potter and Friends, new kids on the block! Whens the movie come out?

Easy read with a lot of players but I didn't have any problems keeping them all straight. Although this is targeted towards young adults I still really enjoyed the story and would recommend this to all.

Color me impressed. Amazingly creative and full of adventure; I devoured this book. A well paced storyline with an exelent blend of chacters. Her already wonderful prose has become even more polished and mature. Cannot wait for book 3.

This series has been such an easy read! I love the way the authors writting makes it so easy to visualize the story. Especially love how strong the female characters are. I can't wait for the movie!

This story is well written, it grabs your attention and keeps it. Action-packed combination of fantasy and reality is great! Those who have already read the first book of the series can see the author's progress as a writer.

A typical tween-ager fantasy series with a solid premis. There is character development, but its very light weight. The author could have done a much better job with fewer protagonists as the heroes of the story. I enjoy the book and series, but its light reading. The book is one of many riding the coattails of tween fantasy/sci-fi and hoping to score a movie deal.

When I read the first book I found the writing to be a bit, well, sophomoric. I wondered if it had been written by a teenager (I see now it was!). Well written, but lacking in fluidity. This book shows growth in the author's writing.

This book, the second in the series, continues the interesting, if somewhat unusual (unbelievable?) storyline. Interesting enough to keep my attention and make me look forward to possible sequels. Not as gripping as some other books I have read. I would still be willing to read the next one.

No idea how I got through this one! The book was boring, the improbable only happened slightly less than the impossible. The characters had the personalities of cardboard cut-outs and the bad guys were not very bad closely followed by not very smart - and o my what an ending. the store are you doing this on purpose??

Overall, this is not my genre but I am so glad I stepped outside of my "genre box" with the first book in the series, AEGIS RISING, and now the second book, AEGIS INCURSION. This author has an amazingly imaginative mind! The characters are well-developed; as a reader you care about them. There's a fair amount of science and techno geek knowledge in order to know how to pull off some of these ideas. The reader doesn't require the knowledge though, as it is explained in lay terms.
I have read reviews of other authors/books that criticize "believability". I just shake my head...poor, sad reader, there's a reason it is called fiction. I can only assume such readers had a most unimaginative childhood (shudder at the thought). I am thankful for authors like S.S. Segran who are blessed with a crazy, amazing, creative imagination. And, they are willing to share it with us...the readers.
If action-adventure, sci-fi, thriller is you're genre, read the AEGIS series. If this is not your genre, step out of you comfort zone and let your imagination go for a ride. Or maybe you don't have to use your imagination. Could it really happen? Hmm...

I received a free copy of “Aegis Incursion” in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Aegis Incursion, SS Segran's second novel in the Aegis League series, is more explosive than the first. It's a near-nonstop Indiana Jones thrill-ride with elements of a Marlowe mystery, Heinlein's early works threaded throughout, and a bit of ST:TNG sprinkled in for good measure. It even occasionally slips in some Star Wars elements every now and then. It crosses many different genres: action-adventure; paranormal; mysticism; religion – and offers something for almost everyone. It's like watching a three-ring circus while juggling balls with your feet. Yet Segran manages to keep the story interconnected without confusing the reader or overwhelming with too many subplots.

In short, we return to our protagonists, “The Five”, from Book 1: Jag, Mariah, Aari, Tegan, and Kody. We know that they are destined to save the world using mystical talents or “powers” each of them possesses. However, as the story begins, none of them recalls any of these details – only that they were recovered after being lost in the wilderness for several months following a terrible plane crash the previous summer. Now, with school out for the summer, their parents have agree to let them take a trip down the California coast for some much needed R & R. Thus the real story begins.

Amidst the chaos of being sucked into a kidnapping; the sudden mysterious destruction of only certain specific crops in particular parts of the world; meeting their “guardian”; a heartbreaking death; and some other nasty surprises, the team divides in order to tackle the multiple problems from two fronts. But will they be able to resolve anything in time?

The story mostly is tight and holds together well with a few exceptions. I don't believe that parents today would let their teens – especially ones who so recently disappeared in an unexplained plane crash that still remains a mystery – go on yet another excursion, this time unaccompanied for an indefinite period, with no real guidelines except to call regularly. That just doesn't ring true to me. Another oddity is that they let these kids – three guys and two gals in their late teens (17-ish) – gad about unchaperoned for a multi-day outing. Really? I don't care how trusting your parents are; I just can't believe that it's realistic for a group of intelligent contemporary parents to approve this sort of trip, no questions asked. Are parents today really that much more liberal than when I was a teen some 30-odd years ago? Maybe I'm just old.

Overall, though, the story is exciting and grand and exciting and engaging. There's no typical teen angst or weepy-eyed romance here. It sweeps you along, keeping you wondering and guessing and thinking. As far as I'm concerned, the engagement is the sign of a great read. I can't wait for #3.

I received a free copy of this book, and would like to write a review of it. This is the second in the Aegis Universe series, and if anything, it outdoes the first book. S.S. Segran has spent considerable time developing the main characters (the Five) further, giving them even more depth and individuality, while introducing new characters and expanding on the original story. Although very intricate, the story is well thought out and flows very nicely. It sounds like a cliche' to say that I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book,, but it is the truth. If I didn't have other obligations, I could have gone without eating rather than book this book down. (I did go without sleep) Anxiously waiting to read the next step in this grand adventure. Elaine

This is labeled science fiction, but I'd think of it more as fantasy fiction. Which I'm totally OK with! This book started slow and ended with quite a bang. The beginning was a little hard to follow, and I debated giving up, but am glad I didn't! One thing that is very important to me when I read a book is that the main characters are believable! (I prefer them likeable too ;) I can certainly play along with the more unbelievable fantasy/science fiction parts as long as I believe in the characters. Hard not too here. They were so likeable, well described, and their relationships clear from the start. I would have liked to be friends with them when I was in high school! I kept reading just for them. When the bad guys finally showed up in the book, I thought they were ridiculous. As the story went on, they actually scared me and I hope they never exist in real life! Of course I had to keep reading and see these kids beat those guys down! I realize I'm not giving you much as far as the storyline, but I'm afraid I might accidentally spoil it for you! It's a fun and incredible story that I wound up loving!
I only gave 4 stars because the manner of speaking that the kids had was more suited towards a well educated man in his 70s or something. In fact, I assumed an older gentleman had written the book! The kids spoke very formally, and used big words in a way I didn't realize was even taught anymore in the US. Hardly any of the slang or abbreviations that you'd expect from 15 year olds today. That said, I read about the author when I finished the second book. I was absolutely shocked to find out it was written by a girl in HIGH SCHOOL!!! After finding that out and reading the rest of her little biography, the use of formal language impressed me! Unfortunately, it was still unbelievable for these characters. Wish I could give 4.5 stars, since my complaint is more of a pet peeve, and it certainly didn't stop me from reading the book :) Or the second one!

This is the second book in the series and takes over with the 5 friends returned home, but with no memory whatsoever of the previous 3 months. They have had the rest of the school year being made fun of and need some together time to recover and get their mojo as friends back.

They spent the term planning a road trip to California and set off once school is over. The start of the trip is fairly normal with just Jag having bad dreams, which he has been having since he returned home

The prophecy the Elders had told them about, when they were in the hidden village, is coming true and the time for the ‘Five’ is coming sooner than thought. Their trip gets interrupted and they encounter a couple of different people. One is there to help them and is a Sentry, sent by the Elders, the other is part of the evil plan that has been put into action.

Crops are dying off all around the world and this is just part of the disaster awaiting the world. Food is getting scare, riots are breaking out and wars may be started. It us up to the ‘Five’ to figure out what is happening and try to find something, long thought lost, to combat the destruction happening in the USA and across the world.

The ‘Five’ have people chasing after them, to kidnap them, to find out the secrets of their powers and about the hidden village. Can the ‘Five’ manage to avoid them and stay safe whilst also having to find a solution? Help from some Sentries, a bit of luck and good teamwork, memories to return, powers to develop and the help of the Elders should assist the ‘Five’ to overcome the evil order.

We see some difficulties being faced by our young heroes and they will find out that they are stronger together than apart. Lots of action takes place in this book and we get to learn more about their families and interactions. Problems to be solved and out of the box solutions are required. The government can’t solve the destruction of crops and aren’t very effective at stopping food riots. Talk is of wars starting as countries across the world start to fall apart.

This was a fantastic book, I thought the first book was great, but this raises the bar to a whole new level!

The chosen ‘Five’ are well developed characters and easy to like and cheer for. The idea of light working over darkness brings to mind the saying that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Leave yourself a good weekend at least to read this, you probably won’t want to stop.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the book by the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above. I can’t wait for the next book in the series, Aegis Evolution, to be out. Loving them!

Actual rating: 3.5 out of 5

Readers, note that you don't need to have read the first Aegis League novel to fully appreciate this one - this story does entirely stand alone. While this may be frustrating for followers of the series, it does allow newcomers to be rapidly brought up to speed.

I thought that this was a definite improvement on the first book. The story flowed a lot better, reintroducing the principle five characters and their abilities while interspersing their development with some very exciting sequences. It was a very easy read and I devoured the first half of the story in just a couple of hours.

The series still carries a very environmental and can be a little heavy-handed in its approach at times but does provide an interesting angle on issues with world agriculture and just how far reaching a food crisis would be. While the plot did make me curious, it should be noted that little is resolved in this volume. The heroes remain ignorant of the villain's grand plan as the series is apparently intended to run for a further three novels.

I did feel that it started to drag over its second half. The book felt longer than it needed to be and a lot of that was given over to repetition and over elaborate details. Segran has a habit of describing every single character movement which did become a little tiring after a while.

Yet the characterisation had drastically improved. In Aegis Rising, I had trouble telling the teens apart but now they have noticeably different personalities. While I still felt that some had more development than others (Mariah is probably the weakest of the lot, while Jag gets a whole lot of backstory in this volume), it's nice to see that the author has fleshed them out into more realistic teenagers. The villains also had more motivation this time around and didn't just exist to be evil.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm very interested to see how Segran's skill will increase as she continues the series.

The stunning adventure continues! After losing their memories of the time spent in the mysterious village, the 5 friends decide to take a break and reconnect with each other by embarking on a cross country road trip. Little do they know, sinister forces are seeking them out and mysterious guardians are uncovered. A mysterious crop plague is decimating the world and the friends must recover their lost memories and abilities to save the world. The layers into society, politics and power reaches deeper than expected and are flawlessly thought out. The layers of the story are masterfully melded together with everything fitting together beautifully. You grow to really connect with the characters even more and truly feel like you really know them and their emotions, The adventure, action, mystery and intrigue are absolutely stunning and completely gripping. I couldn't help thinking the whole time that this series would make an award winning movie saga or series! Wow! These are seriously some of the best books that I have ever read and are appropriate for all ages, middle grade to 100! I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

Okay, so I did not read the first book. I was told this could be read as a stand alone book, and they weren't kidding. Absolutely no mis-step in getting into the story whatsoever.

Wow! What an incredibly imaginative story…very scientific in theory, I'm wondering if the author has some kind of background in physics or something? If not, she surly did her research, just the little nanomites alone are something else. And then of course there's all the supernatural excitement included, so this makes for a really fun read.

The book is fast paced and a challenge to put down once you get rolling, very easy to follow along with the story, no confusions, yay. Very visual, super action packed! The main characters, the kids, are wonderfully crafted individuals, great distinctive personalities…they are believable and enjoyable to picture…even if they are modern day super-heros! Like I said, I believed their stories…very well done.

The one thing that bugged me, and this is me being me, is in the beginning the author would use the term, "the five" incessantly…literally, several times in a paragraph. Even when it was obvious that no one else was involved in the scene but the teens, she would say "the five". Instead of saying, "they all walked outside", it was always, the five walked outside, the five sat down, the five looked at each other. It really annoyed me for a while, then it seemed to diminish as the story went on..thank goodness. So unless I'm unaware of the fact that they are known as "the Five", like the X-Men or something, and I missed this "title"..then of course I apologize and take it all back…otherwise it just bugged me for a while…and if I'm being totally honest, a couple of the "other-worldy" names were very difficult to pronounce and sometimes slowed me down when I was on a roll, attempting to figure out how to hear their names in my head. However, this did not bother to the detriment of the story in the least.

Needless to say, I'm absolutely eager to get to the next installment to see where our heroes end up…oh! and it looks like I'll go back and read the first book in the series to get the actual background of the story…however, that's just for something else to read, not because it's necessary to enjoy this book. Well done SS Segran!

Really good read here, this is a book that really commands your attention from the very start. I loved the setting, a bit of futuristic style stuff and good action.

I haven't read the first book in the series and it would probably help but now I will have too, this one just pulled me in too much to not go check it out! Aegis Incursion is definitely up there with some of the best action books I've read.

First of all I must say that I'm not a YA anymore, I probably would have liked the story better if I were younger.

That being said, I still enjoyed the story, and was very impressed by the author, who is very young but still appears to have a real talent. The story is engrossing, the vocabulary is rich, and she obviously did her research into several facts (I won't reveal anything to avoid any spoiler). The characters are interesting and I liked the way what they learned in the first volume is used in this one. I especially enjoyed how they are able to really act as a team, each special ability complementing the other.

Sometimes the second book in a series is a disappointment, it is definitely not the case here. If anything, I found it better than the first one, especially since it really built on the world that was presented before. If you liked Aegis Rising I guess you'll like this one too, so just go for it!

Wonderful! A true SF / Fantasy epic. Five teens gifted with superpowers are suddenly thrust into fighting for Humanity. Why are all crops being destroyed? What is behind that? Why are the teens suddenly remembering what happened a few months ago? Will they be strong enough to survive? Great plot and the byplay between the characters is very well done. A tremendous read that leaves you wanting to know what happens next and if the teens will be strong enough to endure. Recommended

I received this book free in return for an honest review.

The second book in a series is often the weakest. While I did enjoy this book, I did not like it as much as Book 1. The teens are still good kids and believable friends. And the story improves when the village Elders--and the children's abilities--reappear. We certainly end the main story with the right combination of completion and suspense. I think the book should have stopped there, instead of adding an anticlimactic epilogue.

I struggled with some of the logic of the story. For example, since the previous book focuses on a struggle against Quest Mining, I can't understand why, when the girls disappear, the others look for them everywhere EXCEPT the nearby mines owned by the Quest Company. Also, if the teens now wear medallions that enhance their abilities, I don't understand why none of their captors search them and take away the medallions. I also don't understand the connection between wanting to kill off most of humanity and setting oneself up as a cultic savior.

Having voiced those cricisms, I do enjoy the friends developing more Skills and cleverness. It is fun to discover their new abilities as the characters do. I also like the relationships between them and their families, especially Jag and his granparents. The young man Tony intrigues me greatly. I also like the return of the Marauders. For some reason I pity these "monsters." I also like the consistent seeming inconsistency to beat the villains thoroughly but never, if avoidable , kill them.

I look forward to more "family time" in Book 3 and also to finally confronting the Evil rogue Boss. I hope that he won't have to died, that he can be redeemed. Likewise I wish this for Hutar and his budies.

What a great story! I felt a little lost at first, got caught off guard when the five couldn't remember anything from book one. Then the story took off and made everything clear. Ms. Segran just had to put that twist in to keep us on our toes. Lol Procure this series and enjoy many hours of great story telling.

I really enjoyed this book. I have the first one of the series, but it was buried in my kindle files, so I just went ahead and read this second one first. I am not going to talk about grammer and syntax and plot problems because I read for pleasure only and my sentence structure is not the greatest. With that said.... I didnt see any obvious problems :) Anyway, I truly enjoyed the adventure that the kids were thrown in, twists and turns I never saw coming! The true friendship bonds between Jag, Kody, Aari, Tegan and Mariah make me think of being a teenager on the cusp of adulthood and the adventures I had in my youth (although not anything as exciting as powers and hidden worlds working for mankind!) I really dont think you have to read the first book to understand what is happening in this book at all. The writer does share bits of history and clarifications so you are not lost while you read. I did stay up way too late because I needed to see how the book ended and I was very pleased to see that there is a ending that ties the book together while still leaving room for the next book. (as in NO CLIFF HANGER!!!!) I am starting the first book tongiht and truly look forward to the next book!

This sequel to Aegis Rising is even better than the first book. The story follows five teenagers on a road trip from their home in Montana to California. But these aren't five ordinary teens. The year before they had crash landed in a plane in northern British Columbia and taken in by an isolated native tribe, hailed as the answer to an age old prophecy. The natives trained them in the first book, and they developed some special skills, powers if you will. They helped the natives overcome a deadly enemy and then were returned home, but with amnesia about the events of their summer.

In this sequel, the five's memories are re-wakened as they are called on to battle a ruthless power that has been affecting crops around the world, causing food shortages and riots. The reason for this group's actions is shrouded in mystery but they believe they are benefactors to mankind. (The road to hell is paved with good intentions, they say.) Without spoiling the story, I can say that our heroes save the day, but it is a temporary reprieve and sets up nicely for the third book in the quintology. (Which has not been written yet.)

The teens are a clever, talented bunch with engaging personalities. The story moves along quickly with lots of challenges facing the teens as they fight to stop the devastation of the crops. The story is more science fictiony than the first one with the mysterious enemy employing high-tech nanomites (microscopic robots), a particularly nasty enemy for the teens to fight. There are lots of thrills including a chase involving a giant mining truck. All in all, an engaging, fast-paced and exciting read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Aegis Incursion is the second book in this series and the first chapters were a " catch up " making it easy for someone who hadnt read Aegius Rising ( the first book in theis series) to find the knowledge of the main characters in this book.It was difficult for me in those chapters to find where this book was heading, though once Segran moved on from this and into the synopsis the writing became a BOOK I didnt want to put down, couldnt put down -I wanted to see where and who would survive, and who wouldnt and I now look forward to the next book in this series. Good read yes it is, although I would have edited the first chapters a little.I am so pleased that I kept going because it really is an exciting read and one a wide range of ages will enjoy!!

The saga just keeps getting better. A gripping tale about how five teenagers are destined to save the world. Relying on a few heightened senses and a deep and abiding friendship, these unlikely heroes battle a dark entity! Clean enough for tweens and fast paced enough for the rest of us to enjoy!

I could not put this down. It is a whole new take on the good vs evil (light vs dark) theme. The characters are well developed and the story complex enough to keep the reader guessing. The book is a real book of good length not just a quick episode that tries to entice the reader to buy a bunch of episodes. It does have another book or maybe more in the series. I can't wait to read on....

Aegis Incursion is the second book in the Aegis sequence, however it can be read as a stand alone novel. It is a good young adult/teenager fantasy adventure. The story line involves five teenage friends who were endowed with special powers in the first book. They are forced to use these powers to save the world from an evil industrial group. The book is well written and exceptionally well edited. The three male characters are three-dimensional and identifiable. The two female personalities are not as easy to identify. I would highly recommend this book to young readers of this genre. As an aging adult, I also found it an enjoyable read

Where does Aegis Incursion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'd say in my top 10! I've not read the first book. It states that you don't need to and you don't. Great characters and a great story made it impossible for me to stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?
I liked the mix of action and sci-fi around the good versus evil theme. The characters are also brilliantly written. They develop brilliantly as the book progresses and they are all really good.

Which character – as performed by Tristan Wright – was your favorite?
We have five young adults who are all effectively the main character of the book. They are all so well written that I wouldn't change anything about any of them and I wouldn't pick one over another. Very well crafted!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It's too long to manage in one sitting but I started listening on a car journey that took 6.5 hours so I got well into the book in my first sitting. I usually listen to a couple of books at a time to give myself an entertaining mix but I listened to this throughout the entire journey and even managed less rest stops alongside the way as I was so engaged. On my home home, with s journey of the same length, I jumped straight back into the book. So I'd say that you will get wrapped up in the story very quickly!

Any additional comments?

This action packed adventure is will easily keep you at the edge of your seat. Segran masterfully blends science fiction and the supernatural in the story, while creating the juxtaposition between the extraordinary powers of the five teens and the destructive nanomites. Casting the theme of good and evil onto nature versus science has become very common, but Segran was able to to revitalize the whole idea in her book with her refreshing story.

The story’s premise contains lots of mysteries that keeps the reader wanting to find out more about how the teens became the bearers of light. How were they chosen? Who are these elders that they keep referring to? What is the end goal of this company that is set on causing chaos by eliminating a primary food source?

The narrator of this audiobook, Tristan Wright, did a great job in creating distinct voices for the many different characters. Great usage of believable accents and tones! Wright was very dynamic in his voice and definitely allowed for a very enjoyable listening experience. The only thing that was quite distracting was Moriah and Tegans voices, which kind of reminds me of the creepy old guy from Family Guy. But all in all Wright gave an amazing performance.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and would recommend it, I can’t really say that I love it. I mean, it was entertaining and worth the read, but I didn’t fall in love with it. The plot moved along well enough while keeping the reader engaged, but what fell short was the character development. Other than Jag, I can’t say that I know much about the other four teens. I want to know the inner thoughts of these five “chosen ones.” What drives them to do what they do? What makes their relationship to one another so close? Making the reader fall in love with the characters is what make a book memorable. Maybe the characters are better developed when reading the series as a whole, but I think the author had intended each book to be standalone. With that said though, I still have high hopes for the next book and will look forward to it!

This story has a very complex plot involving many details throughout (geography, science, etc). It had to take a lot of planning to write as well as it is.

I enjoyed this enough to read it twice now. It is the second in a series, and helps a lot to read them in order. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for another as the story ended on a cliffhanger.

Some sequels don't measure up to the original... don't worry this isn't one of them.
I very much enjoyed this book, I found myself trying to read it every chance I could. I didn't want to put it down at bed time!

I don't like 'spoilers' but if you liked the first book you will love this one also. Mystery, thrills, futuristic tech (or is it ?), loyalties (qualities becoming more rare in our world), and evils that are apparent in our lives now.

If one dares to believe the story could happen in real life, very engaging.

A wonerful tale of five teenagers set wth the task of saving humankind from a darkness over taking the world. A very believable plot as this is a story just on the edge of today with the technology we currently have. You saw these teens quickly growing and developing their individual abilities while becimg closer than the good friends they had always been. Great as a stand alone book but really forward to more in this series.

This captivating and suspenseful novel by an amazing and talented young writer grabs the reader right from the start. This novel is classified as Young Adult, but it also appeals to any reader who enjoys an exciting, suspenseful plot with confident young people who care about each other, their families and their world so much that they are willing to take great risks to save the world. Segran's allusions and references to current and popular cultural icons (shock jock, Hugh Jackman, Harry Potter) help to make the situations plausible and authentic. The five young protagonists are realistic and believable. Their timeless quest to make the world a better place reinforces the age-old theme that goodness prevails over evil, that light prevails over darkness. The teens' mentor and sentry says, "We are driven by the knowledge that darkness is but the absence of light." And Tegan (perhaps the most insightful of the five friends) believes that, "It's about doing the right thing, making the right choices, especially when it's the most difficult." Tegan also characterizes the millennial generation when she understands their powerful synergy by musing, "We're strong on our own and we're stronger united. If we have each other, we'll take on whatever we have to."

I gave this book 4 hearts. I thought it was written well, but a little confusing at times.I didn't like that it hopped around so much but as you read further in the hopping wasnt so disjointed. I love the character development but I had a few issues with the way the five suddenly got powers, lost them for a year, and then bam they are back. I didn't like that they never fully explained a few things like how they knew these 5 kids were the ones from the prophecy, anything about their time with the Demi-ki or their training. I do look forward to seeing what is coming up next in the fight and I really hope that we see more of the Demi-ki.

Read this book. Seriously. Read it.

Ms. Segran's writing will pull you into the lives of Jag, Kody, Mariah, Teegan, and Aari as they recover from their amnesia. As the events of their previous summer experience (as told in the Ms. Segran's debut novel, "Aegis Rising") begin to resurface in their memories, they find themselves targeted by a corporation intent on creating a new world order. As global crisis looms due to the mysterious force destroying the world's crop supplies, the five teenagers have to evade and escape kidnappers, plan recon missions, and sift through their contacts to decide who is trustworthy. You won't mind that this fast-paced, action-packed book is written in four parts. You'll just barrel through it with your heart pounding, and when you finish the last page, you'll want more!

Hooray! I am charmed with the second installation of this series and thrilled that the author fixed some of the technical blunders from the first novel.
Ms. Segran is coming into her own as a story teller and I was much happier with the second part of this story. She went from POV to POV by chapter instead of by "part", allowing for a much more engaging and interwoven storyline. I think she also did a nice job of using the 5's powers once they woke up. We are finally getting a glimpse of the Big Bad Evil and seeing some motive pop out, though we are still not quite sure where it will go.
If you liked the first book, Aegis Rising, you will enjoy Incursion even more. I am excited to find out what happens next!
It is also worth mentioning that this series is completely appropriate for high school and probably even middle school. There is some violence, but it is not anything worse than what is on the news. Also, Ms. Segran's subject matter is wonderfully relevant, and truly matters even though it is blended with fantasy. I love it!

Very fun book. Actually I haven't enjoyed a books this much since I got hooked on Harry Potter which like millions of other readers, I devoured. Loved the ensemble cast of characters and watched along with other readers how the 5 main characters developed and used their powers. Also, I didn't realize until the very end that this was book two in the series. It was done as a true sequel should be done, as a stand alone book. Well done. Will have to go to book one now.

This second book in the series is a fantastic read in its own right. Shirin nicely weaves the storyline from the previous book into the parts that help you understand why something is happening or how it is set up. Though it makes clear sense Even if you haven't read the first book, it is fun to remember so easily what the author laid out previously. The story of friendship, growing up and mystery is well told and easy to read. Excellent work Shirin!

Another great book by the lovely Shirin,

I barely read YA books let alone books but I make a few exceptions here and now . Love to see that in book 2 they are now starting to enter into the American territories

Once again the book delivers another amazing continuation in the series , the characters and story build up is great, love the maps that rare in the book before it starts it really takes you on a journey also love the lil glossary in the back that helps the readers get more connected in the series , it will also be great to a add a half- chapter to a chapter excerpt on what may occur next , that way readers are more anticipated for the next release , other than that another great read .

Keep up the amazing work!

There is something about a 13 hrs and 53 mins book that always makes me smile and think: This is good, or really really bad. So what is the "magoo factor"? Magoo was blind, (read the cartoon!), and i go in blind into all books i read for free. I try to not read about the book before i get it free from AudiobookBlast dot com. One because i like to be surprised, and the other that i can be more honest about what i think. So this scored 4 out of 5 in my "magoo factor", and that makes it a really good but not perfect book.

Aegis Incursion by S. S. Segran is an action-packed adventure about five teens with special abilities. When the entire world faced with massive crop failure and the teens are the only ones that are able to discover the person behind the destruction, they face kidnapping, nanobots, and their destinies. I really enjoyed the second installment of the Aegis series! It didn't take me very long to read through the book as it was fast paced and an easy/enjoyable read. I liked how we are slowly getting more info on the evil "boss" too...even if the ending leaves you wanting more. I would, however, recommend reading the series somewhat close together. It has been awhile since I read the first book and there were times that I wish I had a refresher on events or characters that the second book referenced.

I enjoyed this book. I am a little disappointed that the trend has become serialize so many books now. I think I lose some of the momentum of the plot when it's segmented. This book was good but I feel disappointed that I'm not further along in the story's timeline and will have to wait for the next one. It wasn't quite riveting enough to make me anxious and vigilant to the next release.

I discovered this writer on Pinterest and became interested after a brief description her book. Since there are many young people who are struggling to develop an interest in reading, I was very happy to see that the locations mentioned in this book are verifiable. It begins with some friends who are struggling with gaps in their memories, which further triggers the reader’s curiosity. I will leave off at this point but I highly recommend this book.

Better than Game of Thrones! Most all books I've read come with very depressing world and relationship views. These books make me happy and gives such beautiful and realistic explanations surrounding human nature. The plot it well-thought through, building in complexity and leaves me guessing.
