I actually enjoyed the message in this early reader much more than I had expected! My kids love Pete and I love that they usually have some type of encouraging message for young children. This book tackles the ever important issue kids have with not wanting to try something again if they have a bad experience. Pete loves bananas, has a bad banana, and then never wants one again. His friends and family help him overcome his concerns in a simple way like all Pete books do. I love the talking points these books have, and so do my children.

James Dean writes and illustrates funny books that kids like to read. He is the author of many of these delightful books. I read this one and listened to a female voice narrating it. The book tells us that Pete loved bananas until the day that he ate a bad one and became sick. Then Pete did not want to eat bananas any more, in any form. His mom tried to get him to be realistic but failed. Then something happened that kids will enjoy finding out, and Pete began to eat bananas again.
