“Pete the Cat: Snow Daze” may surprise kids who discover that Pete loves school very much. This is another of the many fun books by the author and illustrator James Dean. I listened to this story on Hoopla, narrated by James Fohey. It takes six minutes. Pete wakes to find that it is snowing very hard. He goes out to play and he enjoys it. But then, the next day and the day after that, it continues to snow, and Pete misses school. Later when he gets to school, he says: "I love snow days, but I love school best."

I bought this for my kindergartener. The book is filled with contractions. I'm instead of I am It's instead of it is ,can't instead of can not . I found this to be a disservice to my child because he is just learning most of these words enough to know them on sight and others he's great at sounding out. Contractions while convenient for us who understand which word(s)has be shortened and the tense and why it's done , early readers do not . I feel like while I can and did explain it he didn't get it and probably won't until his understanding of words is more cemented. These books are meant to introduce and expand our children's vocabulary but we must teach them properly so they don't grow up grammatically inept like most adults me included.
Pete the Cat: Cavecat Pete :: and Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons) by Eric Litwin (2013) Paperback :: Pete the Cat's Train Trip (My First I Can Read) :: Pete the Cat: Rock On, Mom and Dad! :: Pete the Cat: The First Thanksgiving

Six more words is stupid and we'd rather be reading another book than adding words to get you to allow me to submit my review.
