I have the Large Print paperback version. I want to clarify that in case anyone is considering purchase for easier reading for vision impaired (although this book is excellent for anyone). The book is printed in a easy to read large font on a nice quality paper. That helps also because when you can't see it is sometimes hard to grip the paper if it is thin in your fingers and not rip it or skip over a page. There are pictures of each criminal for each of the 12 cases too. You get a brief introduction to the FBI and their mission then right into the actual cases. Something I like about the author is he doesn't feel the need to put his own personal spin or feelings on the cases or the criminals like a lot of people do. You won't feel like he is either completely vilifying the criminals or glorifying them either. What you will get here are a little background history and facts. Some facts have not always been verified or substantiated, and the author lets you know this. There are some gruesome and horrifying cases in this books so I would not recommend to the faint of heart or easily upset. I enjoy reading true crime stories and learning more about where as a people we come from and where we are going and this book fits the bill. This would especially make an excellent gift (in the large print version) for a vision impaired friend or family who enjoys true crime. I hope my review is helpful and I hope that my info about the Large Print version is also useful.

The title is misleading. Very little about the FBI here. This is more of a collection of famous criminals and a digest of their crimes. The FBI had little to do with Bonnie and Clyde, for example, and nothing to do with the famous ambush that killed the outlaw couple.

I received this book free through one of the store giveaways. Was expecting something a little more thrilling. The cases in this book were about the more popular mainstream bandits. It wasn't a total loss there were details i have not heard before. Still, not a book i would have been happy with buying unless a hardcore collector of this subject.

A gritty and powerful compilation of a variety of famous cases. Full of facts and details, this would be a great resource book for anyone interested in criminology, true crime or even fiction writers. A few of the cases were well known to me already, however, some weren't. This book helped fill in the blanks. Highly recommend it!

In Top Cases of The FBI, RJ Parker captured twelve of those cases and prepared case files on these criminals up to and including their sentencing or demise.

These cases include:

John Dillinger and his Gang of Bank Robbers
Mobster John Gotti
Bonnie and Clyde
Mobster Al Capone
The Jonestown Massacre
Oklahoma City Bombing
The Unabomber
The 1986 FBI Miami Shootout (In the line of fire)
Ruby Ridge
Waco
Patty Hearst
The D.C. Beltway Snipers

Doesn't that just send chills down your back and arms? Does me, but yet I love to read about such subjects. The stories beguile us even as they appall us. R.J. Parker has one of the best reads around. `R.J. Parker is the Catskills' own hard-boiled true-crime writer...Sordid tales of bad behavior, villainous deeds and villainous men and women.

This book makes for interesting reading, especially if you are interested in these crimes and provide some insight to the seamier side of American History. The book is gruesome and interesting enough to make any crime buff shudder in horrified delights. Discover all the odd and intriguing facts and tidbits you've never heard.

I really enjoyed reading this book and learning about cases I have never heard of. Each case is definitely a high profiled case because these people were very dangerous. Reading about cases from the early 1900s was great. Learning history is not so bad. RJ you have done a great job detailing about each case and this is a pretty cool book to learn some great information from. Excellent and must read.

"Top Cases of the FBI" includes tons of research by the author to bring true crime readers the noted facts of high-profiled cases all in one place. Starting with the story of John Dillinger and ending with The Beltway Snipers, R J Parker exposes the lives of a dozen notorious criminals--where they were born and raised, crimes they were accused of, to their arrest and imprisonment and/or deaths--and of the FBI's struggles, and their blunders, while trying to bring these men and women to justice. An educational read for anyone who's interested in learning the facts, or refreshing ones memory about these cases.

Some of the cases written about here I know fairly well. This is written much as a B grade essay for a high school junior. Knowing that authors who give away their books aren't paid unless they are actually read, I finished it. Barely. If you want a true crime book, don't get this.

Another amazing read by RJ Parker.
I remember my mom talking about some of the people in this book.
Such as John Gotti, Al Capone and Waco. I never really payed much thought to what she was saying about these people.

I learned a lot reading this. Kinda makes me want to write one of my papers for college on one of these guys :)
I give it 5 stars.
Again RJ pulled you right into the book making you want to learn more.

I do not understand the bad reviews on Mr. parker's book, Top Cases Of The FBI. I thought the book covered the cases very well. The cases were interesting and Mr. Parker described them with power. The book came alive in your mind as you get lost reading it. Outstanding book!

Very interesting stories from Top FBI cases - good and bad. Author must have done a lot of research when writing his books, and his passion for the topic is evident. When an author is passionate, you can be sure you're in for a good ride.

This is a repackaged version so the author could hide all the negative reviews on the original listing, which was rife with plagarism, poor grammar and formatting issues. Please note all the 5 star reviews posted on the same day. Also be aware the "word book awards" are an award for profit company and for a couple hundred you too can "win" one.

Plagiarism evidence from the original listing of this book:

From the authors provided sample: "The initial collision that forced the suspects off the road caused some unforeseen problems for the agents, as the FBI vehicles sustained damage from the heavier, older car driven by Matix. Just prior to ramming the Monte Carlo, Manauzzi had pulled out his service revolver and placed it on the seat in anticipation of a shootout, but the force of the collision had flung open his door and sent his weapon flying. Hanlon also lost his .357 Magnum service revolver during the initial collision, though he was still able to fight with his Smith & Wesson Model 36 backup gun. The collision knocked off Grogan's eye glasses, making it impossible for him to see...."

True Crime Author RJ Parker has assembled an intriguing and fresh look at some of the most cold blooded characters and horrifying events in FBI history. His take on `Ruby Ridge' and `Waco' will chill your heart as to the capabilities of government agencies out of control. I especially liked the addition of how the incidents eventually played out in court. Top Cases of the FBI is a must for true crime fans and readers interested in details of famous villains and infamous events all in one place. A real bargain.
