Rob Bell rings the bell again! This book takes up where LOVE WINS left off. It goes where most Christians don't want to go. It asks spiritual questions the church doesn't want us to ask. I like the answers!

Rob has a delightful, intelligent, and insightful was of expressing what I think most of us think and feel but have difficulty finding the trust and the proper words to express our thoughts not only to those we love but also to anyone who is willing to broach the subject of what to say when we talk about God.

Rob Bell combines stories from his private life with scientific discoveries with Biblical research to create a book that challenges ones view of God and our place in the universe. I always enjoy his fresh take on things that often embodies my own views about life and the universe that he seems to easily relate in his writing.

Enjoyable and an easy read. The book challenges us to really look at what matters in our Christian beliefs. Bell reminds us that rules do not make you righteous but action with love as the intent matters.

Putting God in neat little boxes may be comfortable, but it diminishes our understanding and experience of the Divine. Bell describes a vision of God that is at once bigger and more personal; a God beyond our grasp but loving us dearly. Bell does not invent new images of God but reminds the reader of Biblical perspectives that have been lost. The God that fits in neat little boxes is irrelevant to much of our modern world. The God Bell describes brings a freshness and relevance to our contemporary world. The book is a needed and readable introduction to the God who is.

Bell seemingly always helps me see God & my interaction w/Him afresh--not an easy task. I have a brother who's smart, a little New-Agey and not really open to God much. I thought of him all through this read & will buy a copy for him. I expect he will be surprised that he likes it.

This book gives straight talk about faith in Christ in language that respects the pain of people that have suffered greatly in their lives, and those who deal realistically with the challenge to put faith in that which seems beyond our senses to believe.

Great book but still left me with some unanswered questions but definitely gave some new perspective in some areas. Recommend this book if the person is "standing on the fence" or looking for different perception.

Rob Bell paints extraordinary pictures of God and beauty and Spirit. There were many passages in this book that inspire one to look more deeply into the beauty of life all around you. On the flip side, the book lacks some focus and can seem like a stream of images that don't lead anywhere in particular. A good read, but perhaps best read in short sittings over time.

Rob Bell simply states his thesis throughout.....God with us, God for us and God ahead of us! He uses stories and illustrations that continually turn the light on in one's thinking. This is my first Rob Bell book and I plan to read more!

You may not agree with everything Rob Bell says, but that's what is so stunning about this book. He seems open to that--he lays out his point of view as if he starting a discussion instead of ending it.

Fantastic book that helps you understand the works of Jesus in modern contemporary enlightened times. Helps you understand the slander and judge mental aspects of religious organizations are not faithful or accurate in terms of the real meaning behind the stories by Jesus.

Excellent understanding of Christ's teaching! Wonderful minister! I'd recommend it to anyone searching to know Christ better or believe they already know him. Very much of an eye opener to anyone. Have just used his book "Love Wins" in the Adult Sunday School. Very thought provoking!

What a great book! Rob Bell applies scripture, understands real life, and is an insightful, humorous teacher. He has titled the book well and gets to the heart of the issue quickly. Often, he challenges the ways in which we represent God, contending against the images of a distant or even absent god. The book has the ring of authenticity and will appeal, I think, to people from diverse backgrounds. Most interesting was the way this book portrays God as out in front, drawing us along. This made 'following Jesus' make so much more sense than the canned presentations which have made their way around the church.

This captivating read grabs the reader's attention quickly. A sound, intellectual argument with so many factual points that Science and Religion come together in a marriage of introspect worthy of consideration. I purchased additional copies for loved ones, I wanted to share, but want to retain my own copy. It is the kind of book that one read will never sate.

LOVE this inspiring book. Rob Bell presents things so simply, yet his insights are profound. Made me think more about 'relationship' with God, rather than in abstract or the detachment that is often perceived pondering a perfect and infinite God.

Bell is a talented communicator. His delivery is a mix of storytelling, theology, cosmology and humor. Mixing the personal with the universal: Bell writes about his wife's brush with death, when she survived a head-on collision with a drunk driver. He marvels at the infinite smallness of the universe, describing how, the more we look the more there is to see. And he reconnects Christians to their Jewish roots, reintroducing us to concepts of midrash and ruach and kavod.
This is a book about how big and how small God is. And how Christianity as we know it might just be one rung on the infinite ladder to knowing Him.
