After the last two Pendergast novels I was a little wary about purchasing this one (let's face it, the last two were almost forgetful)...but so glad I took a chance. The writing is reminiscent of their previous works ("Cabinet of Curiosities" and "Still Life with Crows"), where it grabs a hold of you and refuses to let go. My only complaint is the ending seemed rushed and maybe a little confusing, just felt it came to an end too quickly. Otherwise, I would very much recommend this book.

I have read the complete Prendergast series of the books and I have yet to feel short changed. This is a five star writing team and if you like your books to be challenging this is the time to crack some pages.

I've read everything these guys have written. Was concerned that Preston/Childs couldn't get out of the rut they created with Wheel and Cemetery, but Fever Dream captures some of the old magic and has some interesting new to go with it. Well done, good read.

I finished "Fever Dream" but I'm not happy. Pendergast's search for Helen's killer left me cold. I've read their entire series and also their other works and feel this endeavor fell far short of their previous successes.

What a good pair of writers. Having met Doug Preston and have always enjoyed his style of writing and then for him to have met Mr. Childs was a stroke of luck and good pairing. Keep up the good work boys and let you intertain us. Thanks, Arlyn Vik

Preston and Childs have me hooked on their Agent Pendergast series. When this one, their latest collaboration, arrived, I spent every spare minute in the next couple days reading and savoring it. The FBI agent they use in their books is a modern day Sherlock Holmes and just a great character in some really interesting and fun books. I have all of their collaborative efforts and will reread in time over the years.

"Fever Dream" is a spine-tingling thriller that satisfies as a stand-alone book but has the added advantage of promising two more books to come. As usual, Preston and Child's research is thorough and impecable and their plot exciting. The sub-plot regarding D'Agosta's love life - complicated by his relationship with Pendergast - is also excellent. I give it 5 stars, have already read Cold Vengenance and am anxiously awaiting the release of Two Graves. Bravo!

This team of authors are soooo good together. Pendergast is strangely brilliant at his job. All the books in this series have kept me waiting anxiously for the interesting outcomes. Thank you Preston & Child!

I absolutely loved this book. It grabbed me at the get go and never let up. Tons of action, twists and turns and the cliffhanger ending we all love. Pendergast is one of those characters that is so brilliant and ruthless as to be unbelievable, yet he is believable and very entertaining. This book just proves to me what I've said all along. Mr Preston and Mr Child, please write all your books together. Your solo efforts are so lacking!

Unlike earlier books by these guys, I found this one to be boring and repetitive. It was hard to really care about the characters, and I found myself forcing myself to finish it. I have been reading Michael Connelly and John Grisham, and they have spoiled me for other authors.

Very entertaining, as usual you cannot go wrong buying any book by these two gentlemen. I liked learning a little more about Pendergast's private life which has as much mystery as his cases. I am going back for another reading soon. I enjoyed it so much I couldn't put it down. Now I am going to take my time and savor it.

I have purchased and read every one of Preston & Child's books, those written jointly and separately. I would like to say they are among my favorite authors. However, after reading this book I couldn't help but feel Pendegast had lost some of his "moxy". Perhaps that was the intent of the authors given the emotional events setting the background for this novel.
I enjoy Pendergast's combination of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond rolled into one.

In this novel he just seemed to be a little "smaller". He demonstrated more faults and a little less polish. Subsequently he appeared to be more human and little less superman than I prefer my heroes to be.

I still enjoyed the book and like all the others completed it within 2-3 days of the purchase. Hopefully Pendergast will return to himself soon.

I read this over the weekend, during a prolonged "wake" for a relative, and it was perfect reading material for the occassion--not terribly challenging or un-put-downable, yet entertaining. I found the idea of the cool, asexual Pendergast having been married rather disconcerting and awkward, and the ending was weak and anticlimactic, but I enjoyed the process as Pendergast and D'Agosta--and later Hayward--raced about trying to solve the mystery. There are a number of side-stories which make me suspect that Pendergast is not finished. Hopefully Preston and Child will bring back the supernatural element which has been so enjoyable in the past. While this is not my favorite Pendergast novel--that would probably be "Still Life With Crows"--I have no plans to abandon the series and my fondest wish is that the authors don't, either.
