This was terrible. I was looking forward to a good read since the first novel was pretty good. I was so lost while reading this I checked twice to see if I had downloaded the wrong book. Glad he wrapped up this series in 2 books and not 3 because I wouldn’t have been reading a third.

Gerry Riddle has outdone himself with his latest book, Genome. The series, Extinction Files, brings you into an alternate reality that’s hard to leave once you finish the story. It’s easy to relate to the characters and their environments. Do yourself a favor and get this book!

AG Riddle has done a masterful job of combining fact and fiction, painting a picture of a world that will come all too soon with the changes that we will need to adjust to and grapple with. If only we could go through the Looking Glass...!

Desmond Hughes and Peyton Shaw saved the world in the previous book by helping world governments inoculate their infected populations. In "Genome," the followup to "Pandemic" in the Extinction Files, author A.G. Riddle continues the tale. Peyton has been reunited with her mother, who plays a role in the underground organization that nearly took over the world. And Peyton realizes they only delayed the inevitable. The Citium still controls the nanobots injected in the world's population to inoculate them against the pandemic, and chief antagonist Yuri, and his sidekick Connor, have slipped seamlessly into a plan B. They have no trouble outsmarting the weakened governmental task forces that try to stop them. And they have Hughes. They've drugged him and figured out a way to recover his memories because it is through him they will uncover the last piece of their plan to create what they call the Looking Glass, a reference to Alice in Wonderland. Riddle pulls everything together in this second book, keeping it as fast moving as the first. He reveals clue after clue as his heroes seek to understand the meaning of life and unravel the plans of a madman.

As usual, A.G. Riddle creates an incredible, suspenseful, and informative story that forces me to want to read more and more. The characters are wonderful to get to know, but I think more importantly, the theme provides a deep experience for those of us who are interested in ancient history as well as the future of civilization. Loved it.

I enjoyed the first book but the second one seemed very far fetched and didn’t seem to relate to the first. I’m not sure I bought the ending and was disappointed at character conclusion. I decided on 3 stars because of the fast pace that is easy to enjoy.

I found the book interesting. A lot of twists and turns. It kept me guessing as to what side of the issue the players were on. I can see how this kind of thing could happen in the future. It would shirley be a scary time if it did.
