I loved the characters and their growth from beginning to end. I actually laughed out loud a few times and found myself wanting to keep reading even when it was over. Only negatives are that it never said what happened (so hopefully there’s a sequel that explains) and the vaccine being the reason for dev’s Aspergers which is just not true or even believable. Felt like that author could have left that out and it would have made a better story to have it be from an unknown cause which is more accurate. However, overall I enjoyed it!!

Sosnowski takes us into the minds of three teenagers thought different by their peers. When most of the population around them suddenly dies, these three somehow survive and come of age in a world for which they are unprepared.

If you ever wondered what would happen to the pets during an apocalypse this book hits on many many many points. Being your typical animal lover it was a little hard to read some parts. It didn't stop me from reading the book but it did stop me midway through to come and write this review to warn others. Had I known before I started reading the book, I wouldn't have read it.

Other than that so far the book i readable. I don't like the characters but I'm enjoying the premise and unique take on the apocalypse both from the author and the characters.

I am a voracious reader but rarely write reviews. However, the characters were so shallow, unsympathetic, uncaring and self-centered I had to warn other readers. The story line left much to be desired as there was no explanation of what caused almost everyone to drop dead and no realistic hope for any type of future for mankind led by the very few survivors.

If you enjoy reading a book, and expectantly waiting for something to happen, this is your cup of tea, because you will be constantly... waiting... for something to happen. The premise is interesting, but beyond the initial events, there is no payoff... just a rambling narrative of everyday minutiae for a very small set of characters...and viewpoints

I was most disappointed when I attempted to read this book. It is quite possibly a really good read, but I was unable to continue after the first few pages as each time I paged forward, it would be a repeat of part of the previous page or part of the text would be missing. I would really like to read this, but the digital download I received is not readable.

A great premise for the story. Three teenagers find them in the USA where some sort of event that has apparently killed all other humans. Not all animals have been killed and the ones that remaining are running wild. The story is interesting, plausible and, easy reading, but the end of the story remains with as many questions as it started with.

Story was mediocre. That's probably being too generous, but I digress. The constant political undertones, anti-Republican, and anti-Trump drivel got old quickly. Seems as if this novel was the author's personal political diatribe instead of a true doomsday scenario book. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.

The literary equivalent of Oreos. Start reading this on a long nightshift with not much going on.....you're going to need the time.
.....also...much better for you than actual Oreos....
Highly recommended.

The first part of the book was confusing, poorly edited and detached. i almost stopped reading it, BUT there's a hint of King's The Stand and LeHayes' Tribulation series. Happy Doomsday addresses some aspects of apocalypse that others avoid, and adds the new world from a teens perspective. Sad but enlightening at the same time.

Another apocalypse survival story, not badly done. But the writer insists on using details about guns, cars, gasoline fires, even a dead deer, that make it obvious the writer had no expertise in such things, or the time to use Google. It kept ripping me out of the suspension of disbelief. I had to bail on the read.

Thank you, David! I loved it, start to finish. Delightful characters. You sur-prosed me time and again, eliciting guffaws. Turns of phrase with meat on them, and lots of others just for fun. I was well-entertained, which is a rare and precious thing. Again, thank you.

A different twist on doomsday novels. Most are something like an EMP that leaves many suevivors to begin with and gors downhill afterwards. This one starts with almost everyone dying (never says what is the cause), then follows three survivors. Deals with things you don't think about in that scenario. Compelling read!

I chose this book originally because it looked different from the doomsday stories out there. Loved the characters. Would like to have had more at the end. The author has done a lot of research into end of life and how to survive. What caused this? Would like to know.

This book kept me reading, even though I generally need at least one person to root for. Although I liked the leads, it was reminiscent of being at a required office event and getting stuck next to a fellow worker you have nothing in common with, who proceeds to tell you their life story. Fascinating, a bit repulsive at times, and yet, you're kinda rooting for them. This book leans left, with only two or three sentences about the President. Certainly didn't bother me but obviously did others, after reading their reviews, so if you're uneasy with sarcastic opposing viewpoints, you should pass. Not being judgmental, more of a warning. Also not a book for members of PETA. I cry at those starving animal commercials, yet I still enjoyed this book. Hey, it's fiction, it's a doomsday scenerio I've never heard before and it doesn't take forever to read.

This novel is unlike any other I have read, including other apocalyptic stories. The author chooses characters who are young, inexperienced in so much of life and yet must survive an immensely traumatizing situation. They do so with courage beyond their years, and learn so much about life, through the death surrounding them.

I found the extensive details of dead bodies to be annoying and gross, especially because it was from the POV of someone 'on the spectrum'. I found the lack of human emotions from the main characters to be quite unbelievable- and I didn't find the writing that genuine. Nevertheless I was eager to see what happened and read to the end, often skipping (character) Dev's descriptions. Don't know if there is supposed to be book 2 and 3. I won't be reading them.

I was looking forward to reading this novel; who doesn't like a little post-apocalyptic fiction? I didn't mind the political and religious commentary either, which some reviewers have disliked. The character of Dev was interesting, and I liked finding out about his perspective on the new world. But the blatant depictions of animal cruelty, and the repetitive, graphic descriptions of human decay were more than I could stomach. I couldn't make it past the half-way point.

The characters were unusual and complicated. I enjoyed Dev the most. Too short, I finished it wanting more. I appricated that "The Event" was unimportant. The characters' grappling with the aftermath was much more interesting.

While I thought the premise would have been for a good read. This book left you disenchanted. Wanting more, more character development, more interesting plot and more idea development. I also found the political statements very boorish and unnecessary. I will not be reading this author again

The author puts a unique spin on The post apocalyptic genre. A heartfelt book that will make you laugh and cry, often within the same paragraph and leaves you thinking about who we are and who we could be.

Very enjoyable. The story was written in a way that was so close to reality. A little funny. I loved the way David threads in current and important topics such as suicide, autism, parenting, and others. I recommend this book for anyone of any age that likes an entertaining and thoughtful story!

Listen. The author is super liberal. If you're a Republican, don't read this book. Simple as that. If you're a liberal, it's pretty funny. And I love post-apocalyptic comedies, so this was right up my alley.
I also don't think the author actually tried to link autism to vaccines. The protagonist's mother thinks being anti-anti-vaxxers basically being anti-women.

Some very interesting observations and provocative ideas about what would happen in a world without most of its human population. However, the idea was developed more for shock effect than for thinking deeply, and the ending was truly a disappointing cop-out.

Sometimes funny Sometimes sad mostly clever twist on a dooms day story. Was the ending disappointing, yes. But still a worthwhile read. We get a unique view of similarly different survivors and can feel the way each dealt with the aftermath of the end.

This was a very graphic view of what the appocylipse might be like. The book, however failed to answer two important questions. One was what what caused it. Two was how did a few live and not others, maybe that was the scope of the book.

Although the novel leaves a lot of questions unanswered, it is unique and inventive. I makes me think that folks with autism can rule the world. We currently have a person that is mentally challenged as President, so anything is possible.

While the concept is interesting the writing is amateurish. At every opportunity this writer throws in unneeded jabs at republicans and our president, they are completely out of context and have nothing to do with the story. It was irritating.

I liked the way these kids with such disparate backgrounds are forced to assimilate in their new stark reality. I think my favorite character is the kid on the spectrum. I recommend this book for folks who like doomsday stories minus the zombies and formulaic plots.

Leave it to Sosnowski to make a mass extinction event fun! I was all in from the first chapter to the last. Really interesting to think about what happens after people, that other novels completely ignore. I'm ready for a sequel.

I really enjoyed this book. The story revolves around 3 teenagers from different parts of the country who for some reason did not die during the doomsday event. All three were suicidal, but were given life. I enjoyed their stories.
