Holding to a position and not shirking the duty of it regardless of the consequences. That is the story here. With all the tinges of regret that comes with those things undone that are left in the wake of it. Brilliantly crafted. My only regret is not finding this book decades ago.

Once again a page turner with story line and characters. If you have enjoyed Robert Crais books you need to begin from start of his books and work your way forward to gain insight into his characters and their backgrounds. I am working my way forward and glad I am.

I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I only recently discovered Robert Crisis. Since then Joe Pike and Elvis Cole have become my favorite characters. Look out Jack Reacher. I find Pike at least as facinating as Reacher. Any day. And Pike as well as Cole have great back stpries. And LA Requiem had me hooked in five minutes.

Getting to know Joe Pike better was an exciting, moving journey. Friends worry about remaining friends. Being more than friends means not selling someone out. Cole and Pike have that kind of relationship. Powerfully told in this great story.

This is a real detective novel with all the elements that make that genre so great. If you like detective novels even a little you will love this book. I will be reading more Elvis Cole novels for sure.

Great character development, many twists _ turns + characters you really care about. I have difficulty putting his books down + want to just keep on reading + then feel sad when they are over which feels like losing a good friend.

Robert Crais is one of my favorite authors. Fast paced, great characters interesting story, but then all of his books are like that. Even though he has written many books with the same characters they don't get stale.

An excellent novel.
Elvis is a realist, an investigator; hope and bleak experience and love and an attempt at understanding the world all are encompassed in his insights and wisecracks.
This novel is better even than it sounds. Buy it now. Buy two and read one in a tub while allowing the other copy to soak in the tub with you in an attempt at osmotic awesome transfer.

Robert Crais combines a true literary competence along with edge-of-the-chair excitement. Reading L.A.Requiem established that Crais is on my short list of authors that I will read everything they write. This is a true five star read.
