Actually I expected more from the book as detailed description how to achieve something in a year like writing a book or going successfully to school. But book was quite inspirational and easy to read in a matter how to succeed at anything. It was general. May be i chose a wrong title for me. But the book is o.k.

I hoped this book would have some real insight for anyone wanting to achieve goals. Not so much. I was very disappointed with the way it is laid out (one day at a time reading and to do list). This book is very elementary and is useful only to maybe a teen or someone older who never figured things out.

I knew from the title "Achieve Anything In Just One Year" that this book would be a stretch for me. I like quick results and fast paced books. (So I probably shouldn't have downloaded this book.) I found the assignments to have very little depth/challenge so it didn't hold my attention or motivate me as it was probably intended to do. I even tried doing two days at a time and I still couldn't finish it. This book may work for some, just not me.

I never write reviews but this "book" was just rubbish! Its not a book, its a day to day diary of what you should do and say to yourself in a year. Its like one of those calendars with daily motivational quotes on it.

In Achieve Anything in Just One Year, author Jason Harvey takes us day by day through 365 motivational ideas. He has them grouped into topic areas, so for a while you work on procrastination, for another while you work on planning, and so on. Each day has a quote, some thoughts about that quote, and then some suggestions for journaling, practice runs, contemplation, or other to-do items.

You can of course read this day by day, or you can simply sit down and go through it to draw in the information. That's what I did. The downside of course is that you're not giving yourself the time to really absorb each lesson and do the practices he suggests. A good compromise would be to read it through, to get an idea of what the information is, and then go back and do the day by day tasks. That way you can draw in the easier tips at once, but also give the more in depth suggestions the focus they deserve.

As with most self-help books many of these tips are common sense, but they are useful to give thought to and work on. Yes we know it's good to be kind to others. But do we actually try, each day, to do a kind act for a stranger? Wouldn't our world be better if we did? Are we grateful for the things we have? Do we aim high?

There are a lot of great tips in here. Realize how powerful music can be to set a tone, and set up playlists to help support the moods you are aiming for at a given time - creative, energized, serene, or so on. Life is short - enjoy it. Pick just ONE clean-up chore in the house and get that done. Appreciate the beauty of life. Say no to a wrong path, even if it's rough. Be mindful without judging. Meditate five minutes a day. Laugh.

I love so many of the tips in here. Instead of waiting passively for inspiration to strike you, create an inspiration-rich environment. What inspires YOU? Nature? Art? Music? Then find ways to add those things into your life! Think of success as a wild, appealing little animal that wants a home. How do you set up that home to lure it in? Dr. Seuss was rejected by **27** publishers. Where would our world be if he gave up?

Set up a weekly "checkup" in your schedule to look at where you can improve, and continually tweak your life. We all have learning experiences, but do we all learn from them? Find ways to forgive people in your life. This does not mean condone!! It means you release your *own* energy for better purposes.

Yes again some of it might seen common sense. That's fine! We all clearly need to focus more on common sense items. Also some of the examples seem nearly duplicate. Craig on page 291 is a near clone of Jimmy on page 82. So that could have been expanded a bit. Still, minor complaints in a wonderfully inspirational book.

Highly recommended.

Sometimes our lofty goals seemed to drift away and we ask ourselves, "What happened to that idealistic young person who though he would make a mark on the world?" Seriously, many people find themselves adrift in middle age asking themselves that very same question and wonder about the dreams they somehow left behind. Lifestyle changes are not easy, but this book, "Achieving Anything in Just One Year: Be Inspired Daily to Live Your Dreams and Accomplish Your Goals," proffers the inspiration to do just that. Each day begins with an inspirational quotation and then asks the reader to ponder a facet in their life, perhaps work through an exercise, and journal about their experience.

The reader subtly is asked to think about his or her life, take inventory, and work on issues that hinder progress toward those useful dreams. For example, on Day 224, the daily assignment asks the reader to "make a list of all the things you have been given just because you showed up here on earth. What are your natural talents? Are you healthy today? What interesting and wonderful people have you met so far on your stay here? What has given you joy? If life is a giant party just for you, what are some of the best presents you have received so far?" It sounds like the author is posing some pretty heading questions, but the purpose of this book is to spur you into action, to think about the possibilities you once left behind.

This pensive book asks the reader to reexamine his or her life, to make a lifestyle change, and achieve those left behind dreams. Unlike many books in this genre, the reader isn't met with step-by-step instructions that "guarantee" one will succeed in reaching certain goals within a year's time, but rather asks or nudges one to think. What I especially liked about the book was the peaceful aura that permeated its pages. It actually reminded me of a gift I received from a friend many years ago. It was Sarah Ban Breathnack's "Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy." The book can be read as a book as one of comfort and joy or can be used as an inspirational lifestyle change book. I personally prefer that later, but in either case this lovely book is one you might wish to consider for your shelves!

What is your best and highest goal? How would you like to achieve it within the next year? Whether you want to advance your career, start a business, write a book, increase your fitness, or achieve another important goal, Jason Harvey helps you get there in Achieve Anything in Just One Year.

Jason Harvey is a Certified Life Coach, the founder of the Limitless Institute, and an international bestselling author. He has spent the past 15 years studying self-improvement and personal development techniques. Now in this book, he shares the best practices and mindsets so that you will "be inspired daily to live your dreams and accomplish your goals."

The book is divided into daily one-page reads, so it doesn't take much time out of your busy schedule while keeping you on track for an entire year. I love the variety of inspirational quotes that start off each day. For example, Day 1 is "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase," by Martin Luther King, Jr. Then Harvey asks, "What will your future hold?" He challenges you to let go of your baggage and move forward on an exciting journey. You get to dream about your staircase and establish what your goal is. He guides you to turn your dream into something tangible.

As the days progress, you make progress, one step at a time. All these very do-able steps add up to a lot of empowerment. Another quotation I like is Day 222 by Lily Tomlin: "I always wondered why somebody didn't do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody." It reminds me of something that international evangelist Earl Thurner said about praying and then answering our own prayers. How often do we overlook our own power to make a difference? Harvey explains we can be a catalyst that will inspire others to join the cause and take action.

Wisely, Harvey reminds us that it is not just the destination but also the journey that is valuable. Putting this insight into awareness is life-enriching.

By the time you complete the book 365 days later, you will be able to look back and see how far you've come, how you are off the frustrating road to nowhere and are on a brilliant new path full of opportunity.

I recommend picking up a copy for yourself as well as one for every member of your team. Makes a great gift for a boss, employee, friend, or family member.

Achieve Anything In Just One Year, is a great motivational tool written by Jason Harvey to help enlighten and encourage you to meet goals for the long term or short term. He has taken each day and with inspiring words and activities, he can give you the ability to catapult your dreams forward and within reach like never before.

I really enjoyed Day 310, where we are asked to compromise- remove some of your preconceived notions to make room for new ideas. While this book could possibly be used to further business oriented goals, I really believe it could be used for anyone trying to reach any unattainable goal or goals they may have.

When I first started reading this book, I expected it to be like most other books in the self-help category: unrealistic to a fault, full of useless advice, and ultimately apologetic for its shortcomings. From page one I was pleasantly surprised to find out that none of the above qualities are present in it, and that the fluff so common to this type of work is also absent from this volume. And although its purpose is basically that of every other self-improvement book out there, mainly to facilitate a positive change in the reader's life, the method presented in it is quite simple and practical. Moreover, since it's not focused on a particular subject (career, relationships, family, finances, and so on), it can be applied to most of the goals that anyone would want to achieve, whether it's learning a new language, switching professional fields, or changing lifestyles.
The author presents his method for success in a clear, straightforward page-a-day format to be followed over the period of a year. Each daily page includes an inspirational quote by a famous person, a motivational plan of action, and an exercise that actively involves the reader, entails a bit of soul-searching, and allows anyone using this book to find something about him or herself in its lessons. Both the plan of action and exercise in each daily lesson are neither too strict nor too loose, which allows the reader some freedom of action while still providing a functional roadmap to follow. And the inspiration in the book is not only sprinkled throughout it in the form of a daily quotation, but it's an integral part of the advice and motivation given by the author and of the healthy dose of self-analysis, self-understanding and food for thought derived from the exercises. Also, only a notebook, pen, and about 10 minutes each day are needed to follow the method, which is a convenience that plays a big part in keeping the reader motivated long enough to produce tangible results, which in turn encourage him or her to keep moving forward and closer to his or her ultimate goal.
My only concern is with the false expectations the book's title--Achieve Anything in Just One Year--might create in the reader. Although it's true that a year might be enough time to achieve small goals, make small changes that might lead to bigger ones, and allow anyone to take the first step in the right direction towards more ambitious goals, it is not enough to successfully achieve greater and more substantial things. Also, including the word "anything" in the title is misleading: we can achieve much and learn to live with some things and cope with others, but the bottom line is that some things in life (illnesses, disabilities, and so on) cannot be changed no matter how hard we try, and believing that it could be otherwise might create more problems for the reader than it solves, and even lead him or her to frustration and depression.
Still, anyone serious about pursuing his or her goals and dreams, and willing to find happiness and balance in his or her life, should give this book a try. As with any self-help book, only reading it will not make anyone's life instantly better, but following its exercises and implementing its advice will provide valuable tools and techniques needed to simplify the decision-making process and put in motion a plan that will keep anyone focused in effecting the change he or she seeks, all the while gaining essential knowledge and key understanding of the motivations for seeking the change.

In Jason Harvey's Achieve Anything In Just One Year, the author gives out step-by-step, practical advice for anyone hoping to accomplish something with their lives, whether those dreams are to earn more income, achieve health goals, or even to find out what exactly it is that they are hoping to get out of life.

What I appreciate the most about this book is its realism and its simplicity. The author doesn't set you up with the expectation that in a matter of months, weeks, or days, you will achieve all of your hopes and dreams. As a reader, I grow weary of authors promising instant success by following a small handful of rules. Rather than go the unrealistic route, Harvey outlines a daily process, with which I am confident that anyone with the discipline to take each small step, each day would be able to accomplish what they set out to.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the daily assignments so far, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to see their dreams become a reality!

Is the title of this book, ACHIEVE ANYTHING IN JUST ONE YEAR, a bit of a stretch? Yes. There are some things that just can't accomplished in one year, but Jason Harvey has put together a day-by-day guidebook that will help you reach your potential.

If you're like me, you probably won't spend a year reading this book. If you want to read through it first, that's fine, just don't forget when you're done to go back through and take the action steps laid out here, just as they are intended, one day at a time. Do that and you can't help but see improvement in your life.

This book is laid out with 365 quotes, summaries and action plans. Every day you will be tasked with journaling. Throughout the year, you will cover a wide variety of topics, all being an integral part of building a better life. Harvey breaks things down and spends adequate time on each lesson to have the desired effect. For example, you will spend a week with a new lesson each day on overcoming procrastination. When you are ready to move on, you will fully understand that if you spend all of your time trying to catch up, you'll have no time left to get ahead.

I've read other self help books with this same "one year journey" format, but have to rank this one as one of the best I've read.

The cover of the book should be redesigned. Otherwise, the
contents are interesting and engaging. The author presents
a wide collection of sayings that point toward the overall
goal of accomplishing a meritorious task of one kind or
another. For instance, faith is a good initial step to be
followed by specific choices. Dale Carnegie is interwoven
throughout some parts of the book.

" Whatever you can do, or dream you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it" by Goethe

"A superior man is modest in his speech but succeeds
in his actions." Confucius.

"Man is born to live, not to prepare for life."
Boris Pasternak

The author, Jason Harvey is a Certified Life Coach
and founder of the Limitless Institute. The volume
is a quick read from beginning to end. The price is
reasonable for the considerable entertainment value
contained.

This book will be helpful for a wide range of
thinkers, philosophers, planners and personal
improvement enthusiasts. I doubt that anything
substantial can be completed in a year; however,
a lengthy journey does begin with the all-important
first step. The author helps us to overcome the
dreaded "analysis paralysis" of decision-making
by addressing formulation and implementation early on.

A catchy title is a mixed blessing. Some will be inspired by it; others will dismiss it as hype. Of course, reading the book alone won't significantly increase your achievement, but putting in place some of the suggestions can certainly help.

I've skimmed through the book, just to get a sense of the layout, content and suggestions. This book is designed to be read one page per day over a year. Each page contains a quote, some questions and an assignment. The objective of each page is to learn to make small daily choices that will help you to get the most from your life. Will it transform your life? I guess that depends on how much change you think you need or want to make and how motivated you are towards making those changes.

I like this book, and I think the format is useful. Will I work through it, as suggested, each page in order at the rate of one page per day? I'm not sure. I've already incorporated a couple of suggestions, and I'm keen to explore some others.

Books that promise to improve your life or at least make it happier are available by the hundreds if not thousands. Each has a gimmick or approach that is claimed to distinguish it from all the rest. This book is by a "Certified Life Coach" and promises to guide the reader through a life changing experience over the course of 365 days. It accomplishes this by providing 365 daily exercises and thoughts which the author claims will change your approach to living for the better at the end of the equivelent of a year.
The book does not appear to offer any miraculous insights or unifying theory to provoke a new world view in the reader. Yet it does offer the reader a daily thought from ancient and modern personalities which on the whole are well chosen to express the concept de jure which the reader is urged to internalize as his own and perform an action in support of that concept. All in all this is one of the better guide books although it is questionable whether the lesions contained herein should be stretched out over a year given in a more concentrated form. Also of course any real changes in world view and lifestyle have to come from the individual subject and require both self-discipline and self awareness. Of course if an individual has these two qualities they probably wouldn't need to read this book. This is the catch 22 of virtually all personal self-improvement books.

Most self help books require that you make a wholesale lifestyle change overnight. I don't know about other people, but for me, there's just no way to make that work. And there's no way to sustain it.

I guess most self help book authors are in the business of selling you their next book, not actually helping you succeed.

This book is different.

In this book, the author coaches you in how to make the small everyday changes that lead to big result. They may seem like baby steps, but it's easy to consistently move forward in achieving your goals, and even after 30 days, it's astonishing how much progress you can make. This is an approach that can work for anyone, because it's completely manageable, it's not intimidating, and it's completely achievable.

If you really want to change your life, this is the way to go about it. I really recommend this to anyone who wants to look back a year from now and see how far they've come and how much they've accomplished.

If, like me, you've tried other self help books but been dissatisfied with the results, I highly recommend this as a book that really works.

As inspiring as the daily quotes are in this book, its most useful aspect is the daily "assignment." Each day, there is a different assignment meant to cause you to look inward and evaluate your ambitions. It's unfortunate that many people never accomplish their goals simply because they never really established what their goals were in the first place. And then there is a whole different set of people (I'm in this category) who know what their goals are, but frequently lose sight of them and without maintaining focus, many life goals will never come to fruition.

This book is a great resource for anyone who hasn't established their goals or for anyone who has difficulty remaining focused on their goals. If you find yourself going in circles with your life and never really getting anywhere, this book could be immensely helpful to you. I've enjoyed it very much over the last several weeks and it's the first thing I read each morning to start my day off on the right foot.

Disclaimer: I was provided a complimentary copy for review.

ACHIEVE ANYTHING IN JUST ONE YEAR by Jason Harvey, a certified life
coach, certainly has an interesting premise; i.e., whether it would be possible
to accomplish such a task.

I'm not sure that's the case; however, the book's subtitle was much more
realistic: BE INSPIRED DAILY TO LIVE YOUR DREAMS AND ACHIEVE
YOUR GOALS . . . and the author did just that with his collection
of 365 ideas, each supported by a relevant quote and a mini-assignment.

Some had me shaking my head in agreement and thinking that I wished
I followed the advice more often . . . for example:

* "Always write angry letters to your enemies. Never mail
them."--James Fallows

Your assignment today is to add this tactic to your list of remedies
for anger. Give it a try if the opportunity presents itself sometime during
the day. Just remember never to send that letter, because if you do, you'll
have a lot of cleaning up to do later. Hurt feelings take a very long time
to mend.

Others had me focusing on what I could accomplish in any one day . . . for
instance:

* "Whatever you can do, or dream you can begin it. Boldness has
genius, power and magic in it."--Goethe

Your assignment today is to look at some of your dreams. Pick one. What can you do
to boldly go in the direction of that dream? Is there a clear and distinct move you can make
today that will start to hurl you toward that goal? Would it really be so scary? What first step
can you take in faith? The result may be magical.

And, lastly, there were quotes that had me laughing--such as this one that was
followed by an excellent recommendation:

* "When your mother is mad and asks you, `Do I look stupid?' it's best not to answer
her."--Meghan, Age 13

When is it a good idea to keep your mouth shut? Start a list of several appropriate scenarios
in your journal. Can you think of a time when you spoke up recently and shouldn't have?
What did you learn from that experience?

It is a very wise person who knows when not to speak. Talk is often overrated, and it can get
you into a lot of trouble, too. What would your day be like if you concentrated on listening
and tried avoid talking? Give it a shot, and then write about your experience in your journal
at the end of the day. What did you learn when you cultivated the art of keeping your
mouth shut?

ACHIEVE ANYTHING is the type book that should be savored and not read in just
one sitting, but rather, throughout the year . . . that's certainly my plan!

"It took me twenty years to become an overnight success." ~ Eddie Cantor

Jason Harvey makes a bold claim! Can you really achieve "anything" in one year? I would be willing to bet that some people who read this book will and some will not. It probably depends on how seriously you take this book.

This book covers a wide variety of topics which include: dreams, kindness, fear, hope, fulfilling your destiny, being an influential person, honesty, procrastination, time management, gratitude, anger, discontent, how to embrace uncertainty, friendship, forgiveness, courage and happiness.

"What are your motives? You will be judged by them." ~ Day 173

Some of the book serves as a reality check (blunt and honest) while other parts guide you to success with a more caring attitude. This book is designed to be read over the course of a year. Each page has a quote and then a thoughtful response that reads like a call to action. The author also suggests that you journal most days. I did notice that the topics flow nicely together. On some days the same topic is discussed because it needs closer inspection.

In general, this book will make you think more deeply about your life. I only found two things that were a little confusing. First was the idea to pray to anything instead of just to God may lead to idolatry. And the idea that God is whatever you want it/Him to be could lead you in the wrong direction.

"If you are confident you are following your destiny and doing your best, then it doesn't matter much what other people say about you." ~ Day 284

I took the advice in this book and looked up some long-lost friends. We are talking about people I haven't seen in twenty years. So this book improved my life! I also started a blog and started to tweet on Twitter. Well even if I haven't achieved "anything" I have achieved "something." Which in my mind is way better than nothing! So I challenge you to read this book and see what can happen! Don't be turned off by the cover. It is a bit much but the book is well worth the price.

I have read a lot of inspirational books that did, indeed, inspire me, but they didn't offer much in the way of practical application. I have also read some very practical "how-to" books, but they didn't really inspire me to take the actions that were recommended. And then there's ACHIEVE ANYTHING IN JUST ONE YEAR. This book is not only full of helpful, actionable suggestions, but all 365 lessons are based on the truly inspirational thoughts, ideas, and teachings of some of the world's most respected minds, such as Mark Twain, Goethe, Helen Keller, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Albert Einstein, Maya Angelou, and many, many more. If this book doesn't motivate you to finally live your dreams and accomplish your goals, I don't know what will.

This is an excellent book and cannot help but inspire anyone who reads it. Whether one follows the author's plan ,and reads it one day at a time,is something only you can decide.I would suggest that one reads the reviews already posted ,and see how different people have decided to use this book.
One thing is certain,we can all stand to have improvements in how we go about living our lives. We are all given only one life.It is ours alone to do with it what we will.If anything,we are continually reminded of this as we read this book ,or any other book that one deals with the subject of self inprovement or fullfillment.Whether you are satisfied with what life brings you,is entirely up to you.
I have read many books like this, and even some by those the author has quoted.Yes,you can "sign up" for one of those expensive seminars, such as the
one I attended by Anthony Robbins (Day 351) or read the several books and watched the Videos Tom Peters; there is always someting that can be inspiring.
After all, inspiration is what makes the difference.Inspiration is something that can be ignited by someone else or found within. If ,as you go through this book and read the quotes, you will see that there is one thing common to all these people, and that is that they were inspired in whatever made them outastanding.
While few of the 6 billion people who exist in this world, will ever become as well known and famous as those we meet in this book;in your own way,you can be just as content with your life, and even more so than any of them.
The one thing different about this book is that it can be used as inspiration one day or one page at a time.
I read the book from beginning to end;and plan to leave it where I can pick it up frequently and just open it at random and use it as a reminder of an idea that I can "spruce up " on.
Whether it is a simple thought as we get from Yogi Berra (Day 35), "You can observe a lot by just watching";an Irish Saying, (Day 317) "You've got to do your own growing,no matter how tall your grandfather was"; the wise thought from 13 year old Meghan, (Day 98) "When your mother is mad at you and asks you,'Do I look stupid?', it's best not to answer her.";"Never eat more than you can lift" ,Miss Piggy ( Day 122),which applies to much more than eating; but if nothing else, let little 5 year old Jessie,s (Day 100) advice be an inspiration,"Just be yourself".
As you go through this book, you will see that each person you read about ,certainly were "Being Themselves".
I have a favorite quote I would like to add to those that the author has given us;

You are the same today that you 'll be 5 years from now;
except for two things;
the people you meet
and
the books you read.

This book will be one of them.

No, this is not just another self-help book (though it is most definitely from that category of literature). Without a lot of hoopla at the beginning of this very exciting book, author and life coach Jason Harvey seemingly sits down at our side and very supportively whispers 'take charge'. He almost leaves it there - 'Maybe you ought to take a long hard look at yourself and commit to small changes every day' - but he doesn't. After a very brief introduction which amounts to a series of questions as to how motivated we are to transform our frustrated lives into achieved dreams, he separates his book into 365 pages - a page for every day of the year - and on each page he nudges us to 'set goals and stick with them, take daily action that creates a ripple effect, stay motivated, focused and balanced, feel happier everyday, and define, pursue and celebrate personal success.'

Yes, he does insist we keep a notebook and set aside a small amount of time everyday to go inside our minds and our dreams and our expectations, and to keep track of where we are headed. But where Jason Harvey succeeds in technique that often eludes other life coaches is his ability to keep things simple, to make the energy come from within us rather than emulating the lives of others. Little things like expecting and accepting failures as lessons for learning, giving ourselves credits for the little changes we make as we make them, and reminding us of the day or so back a few weeks from the time of the current session that we decided to do something new - and to check and see if we have persevered in attaining that goal. And along the way he adds little quotes to start that day's introspective journey, quotes that provide a sense of humor and a sense of universality that adds to the validity of what he is coaxing us to do. Example, from a Swedish Proverb: "Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.'

This is an easy course to follow, but this reader has only read the book out of curiosity: now it is time to take it page by page and alteration by alteration and experience how it works. But the overwhelming feeling after reading through the entire book is the common sense simplicity of Jason Harvey's approach: 'By transforming your life with small steps, you can stay motivated, focused and balanced. Best of all, you will feel happier about pursuing your personal success.' It's had to top that as a reason to buy into this valuable little book. Grady Harp, June 10

Jason Harvey has put together a challenging series of daily motivational readings. The title's claim of achieving anything in a year may overstate the true effectiveness of the readings; however, this book does offer helpful readings. Harvey does not let readers off the hook with merely meditative philosophy; he challenges readers to journal, makes lists, make plans and engage in introspection, self analysis and reflection. If readers do the work, they will reap the rewards. The book has quotes for everyday. These quotes run the gamut of politicians, athletes, entertainers, etc. I don't think I knew who half the people quoted even are which makes them somewhat uninspiring. I think Harvey could have worked on a more coherent theme among the daily writings and revealed his overarching belief system. Even so, these daily readings are good and can be helpful if applied.

My first reaction to this book description was, What is a life coach? My second was, Why would I need this book? My inclination was to not get this, but before making a decision I did the the store "look inside this book" feature. Hmm, not exactly what I had expected. For a reason I can't explain I decided to try the book.

The first instruction is to get a notebook which will be dedicated exclusively for use with this book. Hey, a great excuse for putting off starting the book because it had to be exactly the RIGHT notebook according to me. Except that the office supply store I walked into had EXACTLY the right notebook sitting on the shelf. Drat! There is even a pen holder built into the notebook so I bought a new type of pen to try. Drat again! I love them both, but now I had to start the book. I had seen the Day One and Day Two lessons on the store, but they became very, very different when I had to actually DO the homework assignments. They both hit me squarely between the eyes. I went on to do several more days, experiencing some rather interestingly uncomfortable moments concerning myself. Because of a family function at my house I put the book and notebook away from my morning first-cup-of-tea spot and subsequently forgot all about them. That worked for three days before I realized I hadn't forgotten at all, I was avoiding. I got them out again, put them in the spot where I can't help but see them and have been faithful to read each lesson and do the homework now for a full thirty days. Not yet an established habit, but I'm getting there.

One of the first assignments was to set goals for myself. Well, I had a (one) goal which came instantly to mind but I had to really struggle to find any other goals. Silly me. It has taken me weeks to realize that those other small, seemingly less important goals are the ones I need to address before I can have any hope of achieving my main goal. Never ever had I looked at my strengths, weaknesses, positives and negatives like this. It has been an eye-opening experience for me, to say the least.

I didn't think I fit the mold of the type person who would need this kind of book. I'm a 67 year old woman who has been married for 46 years to the same wonderful man. I have two daughters who are married with children of their own. I am very active in volunteer work and keep very busy, but you see -- I don't work, I don't have a job. Surely that must be who this book is aimed at, right? No, and not just no, but positively no. Jason Harvey has constructed this book in such a way that every person who picks it up will find themselves in the lessons. Can see their lives in the lessons. This isn't a book about careers. This isn't a book devoted to the work place and how to survive there or how to advance there. No, this is a book about you or about me and what we can do as individuals to make the changes in our lives to bring peace, contentment, joy, and acceptance of ourselves. With instructions on how to make small changes which will lead to big changes. One of my "small" goals that I finally came up with is discipline. Small? How could I have been so foolish? I now practice discipline every day just by resisting the temptation to read on and on and on in this wonderful book. The inspiration and insights in this book have led me to accept areas in my life I like and the courage to make the small step changes in areas I'm not so crazy about. So far my favorite quote is from Abraham Lincoln: "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." And you know what? I've discovered that he was right!

I received a free copy of this book.

I love to read inspirational and self help books but sometimes I find that I forget much of what I read or that it doesn't sink in as much as I would like.

the design of this book is that you read one lesson a day. hmm, been there, done that--and i didn't like it---soon drifted off into not reading at all.

AND this book is somehow different--inspiring--doable-hopeful. The quotes are great (one quote a day)--and many I haven't heard of before. While I am doing one lesson a day in order--I am also cheating and flipping through and reading random ones as well. Every single page speaks to me. It is like the author wrote this book just for me. It is getting me to think in new ways--getting me out of my rut--helping me to be the person I know that I am inside.

It was appropriate that I got this book just prior to the holidays. My intent was to pick it up and begin it in the new year. But there was something about it that was irresistible--and let me tell you, it has helped me get through a very, very difficult 2 weeks.

If you are looking for something to jump start your life, looking for a great discussion/study book, trying to find inspiration, you will find it here. this would also be a great book to give as a gift to someone who is searching for meaning or stuck in a rut or who is trying to maximize their potential.

This author has a way with words and cutting to the chase--saying things simplistically and yet profoundly.

I am grateful for this book.

Achieve Anything You In One Year is a very motivational book. It is designed to be read one page at a time for every day of the year, but I did not do this. This book is a guide book for life. I can go back and reread the quote and the assignment for any day of the year to get motivated to get the most out of my time. Jason Harvey should have divided this book into sections according to subject instead of days. It would have made this book easier to read.

I like Dale Carnegie's list of the six ways to make people like you on day 47. I will remember these simple principles like being a good listener when I am in a situation to make new friends. I completed some of the assignments in the book. I wrote a list of things I am grateful for. I will continue the habit of journaling to get my thoughts out in the open. The assignments are fun. I will go back and do more assignments in the book in the future when I need an inspirational lift.

I learned about the value of failure by reading this book. Failure is vital for any successful endeavor. I already knew this concept but this book is a reminder of that. The book contains stories about individuals and the experiences in their lives. I do not know who they are, but most of these stories moved me.

This book is filled with insightful quotes from famous people like Hellen Keller and Stevie Wonder. This book also contains great quotes from people that I do not know like Woody Hayes and Eileen Caddy. I am interested to find out more about the achievements of these people now. The book and activities are fun to read and do. I enjoyed it. My only criticism is that the book should have been organized into subject sections instead of days.

This inspirational book meets a need. It offers daily advice on human behavior, human success (both spiritual and material) and human dreams. Written by a life coach it will help the reader 'sort out' his or her life and position him- or herself to construct a plan for change. The daily anecdotes/homilies/advice are linked, in that advice will be offered one day and then renewed several days later. 'How have you been doing with that chart you were supposed to create last week?' Thus, you should work your way through the book, sequentially. You could also 'read around' in the book, but that is not the way that the book has been designed. It is also not indexed or thematically structured, so that you could feel the sudden need to make a specific change or address a specific problem and then check out the book and turn to page 273. It is a course, not a bible. Each day's discussion is preceded by a quote, sometimes from profound sources, sometimes from pop culture icons. Quotes are always fun and here you have 365 of them.

Jason Harvey, a certified life coach, is the author of Achieve Anything In Just One Year. The back cover makes a bold claim by saying that this book is "The last self improvement book you need!" This may not be true for every reader but it certainly resonated with me. The book is meant to be read one day at a time for a year but I cheated and read the book over a couple of days. Now I'm going back and reading each chapter a day at a time. This is a powerful book that can be used by anyone who wants to get more from their life. Each entry starts with a powerful quote and is followed by three or four paragraphs. The writing is motivational and lacks the fluff of so many other motivational and self improvement books. If you want to live the life of your dreams then this book can certainly help you meet that goal.

I really liked the forward of this book. The author speaks of how when we are young, we picture a certain life and now that we are adults, we are often not where we pictured ourselves. This spoke to me and I eagerly looked forward to reading the book.

Every morning you read a page and follow the instructions to achieve your dreamed goal. You'll need a notebook and pen to keep a diary, writing down your dreams and aspirations. Much soul searching, time and energy is required by this book and to some, it might become just one more thing to have to do in a day which is the opposite of what the author intended. Personally, I was lost when asked to write down the color of my soul. I sat there thinking way too long on that one and I don't have the time to be so existential first thing in the morning. Things like this lead me to skip a day here and there and then forced me to play catch up. Since I am only two months in, I am not sure I will be able to complete a full year in the manner intended.

The author makes sure to note that no goal is too silly or superficial. We should write down our dream and by taking heed of the daily motivation, follow the path to our dream. Quotes are provided for further inspiration. The author does provide compelling and inspiring words to help the reader but a lot of it is "if you really try, you can get whatever you want - nothing is beyond your reach." I find the author's message to be positive and uplifting but not realistic; sometimes a dream cannot be achieved no matter how hard you try. Just ask anyone with a serious illness.

The author provides direction for the reader but no details or specific steps. One day I was instructed to think about my partnerships. The theme of the day was "together we can." Teamwork can help solve problems that individuals might not be able to handle. This book did not address what to do if you need to build a social network, it just told you to form them.

This book was filled with positive reinforcement and motivational quotes and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to think more positively. Or you could just say to yourself, "smile, life is good and today I will [fill in your dream here]" every day in the mirror.

I just read sections from "Look Inside"; nothing wrong with anything he said but there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of books that use the same technique; i.e. mini-case studies, that say exactly the same thing. But if one book helps somebody, I'm all for it. The one disappointing thing I did see, and there are probably similar statements, was about "Ben" meeting someone who had made millions. Sadly, that's always one of the upper most things in our minds as though "millions" is what its all about. I won't be hypocritical about it and say that I wouldn't like to have 'millions' but I'm most certainly not going to strive for 'millions'. Its the coming up short of this meretricious goal that gives us so much anger and sadness and puts us all against a simple-minded measuring stick.

This is a very nice inspirational book. This is a book that you keep by your bedside and read every day once per day for 365 days and over the course of the year will help you achieve your goals. Five stars

I really, really enjoyed reading this book and will continue to enjoy it for a long time. I've read many books like this but Author Jason Harvey really did an amazing job. For me, most importantly, getting your past the thinking/planning stages; making you as move forward and making it happen. I will begin to reread the book in January 2015 and utilize and reference the book thru the year 2015.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I feel blessed to have been giving the opportunity!!

So worth the read!!

I am all for taking personal responsibility for change and overcoming the victim mentality of blaming people or circumstances outside yourself. But this book is just the flip side of the same coin. It has you turn the blame inward instead of projecting it onto others. It uses shaming language and sets up comparisons between people who fail because they make excuses and people who succeed because they don't. If only it were that simple to coquer those inner demons! Shaming and lack of compassion as motivators may work in the short term for some folks, but for me it is too emotionally costly in the long run.

The thing that is awesome about this book, is that the goals and dreams it helps you define are YOURS. They may be simple (i.e. I want to sew drapes for my living room) or they may be grand (i.e. I want to write a book) but they WILL be yours. I wouldn't change anything about this book, but since this is the last self improvement book I may ever need, poor Jason may have written himself out of a second best seller.

'Practice makes man' it is a known fact. This book Achieve in one Year is mostly and obviously teaching the practices within a short period of one year. Of course the author creates a full fledged man in a year. This simple practices everyone could easily follow. I recommend this book to all of my friends and relatives.
