A couple of reviewers said this was pornography. And others said it was adolescent wish-fulfillment. And it is both. But it is also a fun story with several great characters. The protagonist is a bit of a Mary Sue but he isn't a bad guy and the other characters are really good. There is lightness and humor here as well.

So, like some others, I got Good Intentions due to my enjoyment of Poor Man's Fight. I saw beforehand from the reviews and the store listing that Good Intentions is considered "erotica." I've never read a book in that genre, so I was somewhat wary.
Overall, though, I enjoyed it. I do wonder if part of the reason I like Good Intentions is from the sheer novelty of the book for me; I haven't read a book so focused on sex before, so that was a change of pace. Some of the characters were good and I did like Rachel. The biggest problem I had with the story was how indulgent it felt.
All fiction requires a certain amount of reader buy-in, obviously. For me, Alex's sexual adventures felt so over the top, I found myself smirking at the comical feel. A supernaturally hot woman worships at Alex's feet and does whatever he wants. Orgies are desired. All women want Alex. All hail Alex, Alex is life.
I half expected there to come a point in the story where the skies parted and chilled bottles of craft beer floated gently down around Alex. Then, he turned around and saw a huge pot of gold, with a leprechaun dancing away. Then, Alex finds out he can fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes.
The fact that all women, including lesbians, want Alex and want to have orgies with Alex (but only with other women) was amusing to me, and an immersion breaker. It was a reminder that I was reading a book and not experiencing a different world. Also, apparently every woman in Seattle is gorgeous (not my experience from having lived there). As a guy, I'm also very surprised any woman would like Good Intentions, solely because the book seems to cater very strongly to men's fantasies (too much so, in my opinion).
But ultimately, I enjoyed the read and feel like Good Intentions was worth purchasing. I'll also be buying a sequel if/when it's released. I'd give it 3 stars out of 5, plus 1 star from the novelty for me.

Strong characters, intriguing world-building, and lots of sex. Elliott's Good Intentions has a similar flavor to Piers Anthony's 'on a pale horse' but with a grown up modern feel. It is a fun sexy read built around strong grounded characters beset by the otherworldly, witches, demons, lame vampires (which is awesome...suck it twilight)...and Rachel the crass sh1t talking guardian angel. Great job Elliot, can't wait to read the next one, as well as the next episode of Poor Mans Fight!

A hilarious yet captivating novel about a young man who gets caught up, by accident, in the eternal struggle between good and evil. In this book you get everything from angels to demons, from vampires to werewolves, to demi-gods like Baal, to courageous mortals, with plenty of sex of various permutations thrown in. Because of our protagonist's innate goodness you could also call it a story of redemption of one of the demons, but that sounds entirely too serious.
This book is a hilarious romp featuring a sweet spirited guardian angel with one of the foulest potty mouths to be found in any fiction (she kept me roaring with laughter) and an evil succubus who becomes the unexpected "slave" to our protagonist and is being changed, by association, because of his courage and goodness into someone who certainly would not be welcome back in hell. Will she be accepted eventually as a convert to relative goodness by the Heavenly Host? I guess you will have to read the book!
I loved this book and am sad that I had to leave out a lot in this short review. I am always afraid of giving away too much of the story therefore I feel that I couldn't do the novel the justice it deserved. Just let me say I would recommend it to everyone who likes tales of the supernatural, of steamy sex, plenty of humor .. plus a captivating love triangle that will even get the male reader emotionally involved. For a first novel "Good Intentions" is great and very well written and I sure hope the author is serious when he promises a sequel!

So... Looked interesting from the description, liked the sample, but way more descriptive sex than I expected. I really should have scanned the reviews, but they are so often worthless crap. There is a good story underneath with amusing likeable characters and good action and pacing. I won't read more in this series but worth looking at other work from the author.

While I had glanced at some of the reviews before reading Good Intentions, it was still not what I had expected. In fact it was much, much, better. Solid background and truly interesting characters, most of whom, we're very amusing. I am looking forward to seeing just what happens next to Alex and his friends, as a result of their chaos.

really the best story about super natural stuff ever. It is written like a bit of erotica but it is a real story with real supernatural elements and it has very well developed characters. I blew though the book in like 2 days. What I like the most about it is that it reads like what would really happen if a nobody had this happen to him in his life.

I really liked Good Intentions, it's the best thing in it's genre since Philip Jose Farmer defined it in the late 1960s with his remarkable "The Image of the Beast" and "Blown". It was fascinating in the '60s to see first rate writers like Heinlein ("Glory Road" and perhaps "Stranger in a Strange Land") venture somewhat timidly into the blend of the erotic with his main genre, and then for the great Farmer to really let his inhibitions go. It's easy in this area for work to descend into pure (and bad) pornography, but Elliot Kay establishes himself as among the very few who can pull it off, and pull it off well. Even Ann Rice with her "Beauty" trilogy, S.M. Stirling with his "Shadowspawn" series and Ringo with his "Paladin of Shadows" series do not surpass this.
Fans of Farmer, Rice, Stirling and Ringo will probably like this very much, It's certainly worth well more than the Kindle price!

Interesting plot line, but too much time focused on the succubus, should have had more angel time, given the connections instead of Deus Ex Seraphima. Still, as a set up for a series that could be taken care of in the next entry. Too much like softporn for my usual taste.

I just finished "Good Intentions" and it was a mind-blowing experience. I was laughing out loud at some parts, and I was turned on in others. It was sexy, romantic, action-packed and funny. I can't say that about many books I've read. I didn't want it to end. This book left me feeling really good about life in general. Worth twice the price!

I usually do not post reviews but i felt compelled to post one here to say thank you to the author for this great and captivating story.
Despite the fact that i had already read this book once before (for free) when it was posted on Literotica when i found out it was for sale here I immediately bought it and even if it was the second time reading this story it captivated me so much that it still made me shed a few tears on more then one occasion practically reading it without pause from the beginning till the end.
You will not regret reading this.

After reading this one and Natural Consequences my mind was blown. I hope to find more writes who are able to write like an adult who is not afraid of what others think. Elliot Kay writes how good romantic fiction books should. With wit that never leaves you high and dry and a sense of moderation that separate the teen erotic crap from a book with a real heart and soul, Kay is able to not only leave me begging for a third book, but also accepting of a great ending.

Its rare that a story or characters capture my enjoyment like those of Good Intentions did and make me immediately long for more. Yes, there is delightful smut baked into the essence of this series but it's secondary to the budding relationship between Lorelei and Alex that I became so invested in and the chaos that ensues when human, succubus and angel are bound together. Simply amazing.

Very captivating story, would make a good movie. I bought this to read on vacation, and it was a worthy read that made me buy the sequel. Elliot Kay is a very talented writer and I want to read his other works.

No that was not misspelled. Her attempt at combined paranormal erotica and hi fantasy was mediocre. That was until second half of the book. Then it started coming together. I went from debating whether or not to finish the book to finishing it in one sitting. I would recommend it to someone who likes erotica but not to many other people. She's a promising author and I would like to try some of her future work.

Wow! What a great read! I discovered the author by reading 'Poor Mans Fight' (which I can't say enough good about) and started reading this book essentially as a filler while waiting for a sequel. My normal 'go-to' is military/hard sci-fi, so I expected not to like this book very much. Imagine my surprise to learn I completely loved it and am diving into the sequel as soon as I finish this review. This is a whopping good story, that ran the gamut of emotions through me as I read. I laughed, I got choked up, I was enthralled. Great work Elliott!

Overall, I enjoyed this book because it had some unique plot ideas. The characters had promiscuous experiences without being pornographic, and the interplay between supernatural forces was generally entertaining and interesting. It was a bit long for my liking, but overall, a great read.
I could see this being some sort of Twilight-esque movie with more depth.

Could. Not. Stop. Laughing.
So irreverently hilarious, and absolutely cheeky, ridiculous and sweet, honest and just plain fun, snarky, a wild ride of easy bubblegum.
I bought the second book, and hope there's a third and more. Definitely an author to watch if you enjoy snark and sarc and a refusal to take anything seriously except affection.

Aside from the unnecessarily lurid soft core porn sections of the book, I really enjoyed the read. Interesting story, good characters, and some very clever situations and dialogue. I think a good editor would have helped a lot, but the quality of the tale Shane through nonetheless.

Excellent story and well rounded characters but having read Elliotts second novel first and then reading this, you can see his improvement. This just took me forever to read because it was just way too wordy. And in case you didn't know (which I didn't) its erotica. The erotica is what made me take away 2 stars but only because there was too much of it. I don't need 20 pages to describe one sex act. I was sooooo tired for the characters. I just wanted them to take a shower and go do something else. I would find myself skipping pages. Also while reading this I had to look up the author because it was definitely a male fantasy and you could tell the author was a young man. But like I said, his second book moved along a bit faster and again he has a deft hand with story telling and character development.
This is about a young man who gets involved with demons angels witches etc and has a LOT of sex. Smirk.
The story is really good and if you like erotica then this is the book for you.

A fantastic read.. the characters were great, and their interactions even better. the sex was fun, but it never consumed the story, which stood on its own and carried all the events forward and connected everything that happened.
I loved the old soul idea and how it defined Alex.
Simply put... I can't wait for the sequel.. if only just to find out more about what happens with the relationships between the characters.

Refreshing change of pace from the PMF series (wonderful by the way, check it out!) Some might consider it over the top, (the disclaimers nail it on the head) but it remains a well-balanced, engaging work of imaginative fiction. Couldn't put it down.

Interesting story that could have done with a bit more research and a lot less preaching. It starts off with a ww ii tank driver and the narator saying "tank" about five times; two seconds of research would have gotten the nicknames for American and German tanks, it would have made the scene feel a lot more authentic. About a third of the dialogue is someone explaining, in depth, to someone else, usually the MC, why they shouldn't feel bad about having sex all the time; I'm fine with message, but when it's reiterated to the same character repeatedly and it starts to grate.
That said; I enjoyed the story, if not all of the dialogue. I'd give it a five for the premise and general flow of the story a 1 for the dialogue and a 4 for the quality of the characters and another for the crappy dialogue that consistently contradicts on going character growth.
Edit: I just dropped it to a 2. I just read the same conversation three times in a row with different participants. I don't think I can finish this; which is dissapointing, because outside the terrible and repetitive dia logue, I've liked the book.
Edit: dropped to 1 star. I tried to keep reading, but the same conversation was repeated for a fourth time two paragraphs later.
Edit: I pushed through to the end by skipping about eight more identical conversations and ut was way not worth it. Mild spoiler: he gets captured, tortured, and almost winds up in hell because an idiot girl kidnaps his guardian angel against her will and no one complains about it. They literally almost damned him because of their super stalker tendencies and no one cares. Oh sure, thanks for helping to save me from the eternal damnation that I was almost subjected to do to you kidnapping my girlfriend (the angel) and locking her up; and don't worry about apologizing, it's really my fault for not telling you, a girl little more than a stranger, that I'm dating an angel and a demon.
It was just interesting enough to make me want to finish, but terrible enough that I actually regret reading this book.

This book gives entertainment with a capital HUGE. Witty, sexy, twisted and often hilarious study of a clueless teenager introduced to the whiles a experienced women as well as the never ending hazards of dealing with demons, vampires and angles. You just have to get this in your library no matter if you are male or female. Just keep an open mind for some fun, thrills and laughs. Not to mention a blush or two.

I first enjoyed this as fan fiction, then after it was edited and published. The story remains unique and engaging. As so many novels are published with an urban fantasy theme, this one stands out in significant ways. The blending of the Dante like planes of heaven and hell with modern urban setting made for a rich target. Couple that with the inclusion of past lives, supernatural beings and creatures, and a love story made for a richly convoluted story. Top the sum with a good action sequence and a band of brothers (and sisters) and you get a rollicking good story.
I'm ready for the sequel!

A really great read. Some scenes made me laugh out loud (made my wife give me funny looks). Not recommended for young readers as it contains a healthy dose of well described sexual adventure. I would like to see this made into movie and I would definitely like to play the lead character.

A rollicking good adventure though the Emerald City area where the lines of Good and Evil aren't as clear cut as some would like and rules are meant to be bent, if not broken more times than not. Absolutely not for children! And read the disclaimers! Just Hilarious!

This is the first book I ever purchased on the store and it's a very good read. I can't explain why without spoiling it for you but you should read this book slowly. Let it roll around your brain and let your imagination run wild.
The erotica in this book isn't any heavier than my wife's romance novel's...and no I don't read her books. My wife read this one and then I got my answer thank you very much. My wife enjoyed the book also and I am sure you will too.

This is an impressive erotic fiction, but furthermore, it is an impressive fiction full stop. If you really can't stand the thought of reading about sexual acts I wouldn't buy it, I suppose, but the storyline unfolds in such detailed richness and vivid imagery that it takes the front seat, with the erotica being a natural part of the plot rather than something tacked on to the storyline. The characters are well written and believable, and over the course of the book you come to care for them. There are humorous moments, action and drama... and the flow of it is such that you'll always want to know what will happen next!
I am very pleased to see that this story has finally showed up, and I was happy to finally be able to support the author by paying for his work.

Funny, sexy, and action packed. Good Intentions and the sequel Natural Consequences are excellent reads that are fun, original, and never boring. Maybe a little exposition heavy here and there, but I think it's necessary. Elliott Kay is a fantastic writer and I look forward to anything else he may choose to write.

This is one of the better urban fantasy stories I have read in a while!
It has all the needed elements, and the writing is excellent.
The pace is good as well in that it neither rushes trough the story nor crawls :-)
The author varies the pace according to the different parts of the story, and because of this makes it even better.
I recommend this story to all fans of urban fiction, although you should be aware that it contains quite a bit of (good) sex scenes, so if that is not to your liking then you might want to skip it.
